Welcome to the Late Show. I'm your host, Stephen Colbert. First of all, ladies and gentlemen, never forget that today is the first day of the rad. It's going to be fine. Who knows what's coming? Tonight's show is coming to you straight from where the sun don't shine. New York City. Because it has been cloudy for about a week now and it was raining buckets all day long. Meaning the true heroes tonight are this audience right here. Because they these people, this wasn't easy. Nothing good is easy, right? They waited out there in that downpour. And don't you worry folks, because there is no better way to boost your immune system than drip drying in an ice cold theater. What's going on? Oh, we're learning more about the arrest of Luigi Mangione, the suspect in the murder of United Healthcare's CEO. Like how he gave the police a fake ID than when the officers told him that he could be arrested for lying about his identity. He gave his true name. And when asked why he had lied, he said, I clearly shouldn't have. Uh huh. Good start. What else shouldn't you have done? Take your time. It rhymes with murder. Mangione has now been charged with second degree murder, but he's not pleading guilty and he's fighting attempts to extradite him to New York. Well, that makes sense. No one wants to be extradited to New York during the holidays. You gotta wait in a two hour line just to be cavity searched at the M and M store. We're also learning allegedly more about his alleged motives. Yesterday an independent journalist posted what is reportedly Mangione's manifesto, which is just 262 words. That's not a manifesto, that's a minifesto. He could have just made it a Yelp review. American healthcare sucks. One star, much nicer. The document basically rails against the healthcare industry and ends with, I do apologize for any strife or traumas, but it had to be done. Well, at least he apologized. It reminds me of what Manson said after his murders. Whoops. My bad. Of course, Mangione's alleged actions have had a surprising result. People are so angry at America's healthcare system that they're treating him like a folk hero. And before we go any further, I just want to say something that I know takes courage. And I don't care how many viewers this costs me, I believe murder is wrong. Come on. Turns out that's an unpopular opinion because suddenly Luigi Mangione merch is everywhere, including T shirts, hoodies and stickers, and even a free Luigi doggy bandana. Y'all knock it off. Don't make your dog wear murderer stuff. It's Christmas. Make him wear the plush reindeer antlers that he hates. This has surfaced a lot of anger against insurance companies from the public. Over the past few days, shares of United Health Group have fallen. Well, I hope you're happy. You guys made the money. Sad. How do we cheer it up? Send it more money? Maybe it's lonely, I don't know. One reason people are down on United Healthcare in particular is that they deny 32% of their claims, more than any other insurer. Possibly, possibly, possibly because they use AI to deny coverage. In fact, we have footage of their new claims adjuster. Come with me if you want a mammogram. There's a. There's a breaking story this afternoon out of Washington D.C. fBI Director Christopher Wray has announced plans to step down before Trump's inauguration. Well, I think it's fitting that America's top law enforcement officer is timing his resignation to coincide with the end of law. No, Ray has. You guys have. Okay. You guys. Okay. Now, Ray has. He has three years, technically has three years left on his 10 year term. But this news doesn't come as a shock because Trump has repeatedly indicated he would fire him. And that's not surprising. The President Elect has had it out for Ray ever since Wray was appointed by a man who nearly destroyed Trump's political career, Donald Trump. So he's out of there. So Ray's gone. When is this? Is it immediate? Later. We're also learning the names of some of the people who will be in Trump's next administration. The latest is former Fox News host and woman who gets her filler done at Build a Bear, Kimberly Guilfoyle. Last night, she looks Good. She looks good. Last night, Trump announced that he is nominating Guilfoyle for ambassador to Greece. Trump said Kimberly is perfectly suited to foster strong bilateral relations with Greece. He's not totally wrong there. Being engaged to Don Jr. Has given Guilfoyle a lot of experience or gel or something. Why does he always look wet? But here's the thing. There may be a little ulterior motive here, because this announcement came the same day as rumors of a breakup between Guilfoyle and Don Jr. Amid speculation that he is now dating a socialite named Bettina Anderson. I'm sorry, what? Hold on. I just need a minute. This one hurts. No, this one hurts because you let yourself believe in love just a little bit and then. Stupid heart. Stupid heart, Stupid heart. I don't want to learn a whole new lady. Clearly, Don Jr. Went to his dad and said, hey, Dad, I got a hot new girlfriend. Can you do me a solid and send the old one to the other side of the planet? Now, you might be saying. You might be saying that it's cowardly to send your fiance to Greece when you should just have a frank and honest conversation about the end of your relationship, but may I point out that this is Kimberly Guilfoyle.
Stephen Colbert
The best is yet to come.
Dua Lipa
That's when she's happy. Imagine breaking up with her. Guilfoyle isn't the ambassador just yet. She still has to be confirmed. And that may prove a bit of a challenge, because at Fox news back in 2018, Guilfoyle was accused of repeated sexual harassment, which resulted in a multimillion dollar settlement. Specifically, she was accused of displaying lewd pictures of male genitalia to colleagues, including those. Well, now we know why Guilfoyle's get an ambassadorship. On her way out the door, she's clearly got pics of Don Junior's junior. Don. Here's the Junior Don the Junior. There's also a bit of trouble brewing for Trump's HHS nominee and last living and last living California Raisin. RFK Jr Jr is well known as a vaccine denier and a brainworm habitat. But now, now RFK Jr. May have gone a bit too far because he's going after one of America's heroes, high fructose corn syrup, which he has called a formula for making you obese and diabetic. Sorry, that's birthday cake. Oreos. You know their slogan. Why not make this your last birthday? The corn lobby is so powerful because corn byproducts everything from hot dogs to heavily processed bread to soft drinks. That's everything we eat on the 4th of July. The only way corn products could be more patriotic is if they were in fireworks, which they are. So, kids, please don't play with fireworks. Eat them. I have been informed by CBS's lawyers that I must now make the following. Kids, please eat fireworks responsibly. Cutting back. Are they happy? Is that enough? Did I say enough? Are we clear? Are we in the clear? Cutting back on government subsidies for corn could be a little risky because while the country is just drowning in corn, demand is not keeping up, especially as Brazilian farmers increase their competitiveness. Brazilian corn is very popular these days because it has that little landing strip. These. That was a weird laugh. These heavy corn subsidies started all the way back with Richard Nixon. You see, food prices started spiking right before the 1972 election. So Nixon turned to his Secretary of Agriculture, Earl Butts, and said, can we do anything to lower food prices? And Butts said, I can make corn super cheap. So Butts jacked up corn subsidies and pushed farmers to grow it at an industrial scale. And it was more corn than anyone could possibly eat. So to make money, the company started selling corn byproducts, especially high fructose corn syrup. So if there's one thing you should take away from this story, it's that we once had a Secretary of Agriculture named Earl Butts. Even better. We got the butts brigade. We got some got the butts people here. Even better. And this is true. His friends called him rusty butts. 70s were wild, my friends. It's not just his appointees. Trump is also announcing some big plans. Yesterday he posted America is going to start building monuments to our great heroes and heroines again. Excuse me. Again. America never stopped making monuments of great American heroes. Or did you already forget that this fall, the NBA unveiled this statue of Miami Heat star dw There he is saying his catchphrase. You can always hear him say it. Yeah, yeah, just looking. This announcement is a bit of a mystery because the former president didn't elaborate on who he thought should get a monument. Of course, knowing Trump, what he really wants is a monument of himself, which, honestly, I'm okay with. As long as they commission the same guy who made the Dwayne Wade McLean.

Stephen Colbert
Hi.
Dua Lipa
Lovely to see you again.
Stephen Colbert
Lovely to see you.
Dua Lipa
Thanks. Thanks so much for being here a little earlier and helping me lie about the puppies to get them adopted.
Stephen Colbert
Of course.
Dua Lipa
Were you tempted to take one home?
Stephen Colbert
Yes. Got my eye on.
Dua Lipa
Oh, good. I think it was months ago, the last one there. Yeah, the little one. Do you like animals? Do you have a dog yourself?
Stephen Colbert
I do have a dog, yes.
Dua Lipa
Oh, really? Does he tour? He or she tour with you?
Stephen Colbert
No, he's quite a big dog, but we try and take him places as well.
Dua Lipa
It's a big tour though. It's a pretty big tour.
Stephen Colbert
It's a big tour. Big dog. Do you know what, when we're in Europe and the uk, I think it'll be much easier.
Dua Lipa
Okay, good. He's back in London now.
Stephen Colbert
He's back in London. Yeah.
Dua Lipa
All right. This year you put out your third album, Radical Optimism. People were very excited about that. Naturally launched another world tour. Just wrapped your leg of Asia.
Stephen Colbert
Yeah.
Dua Lipa
Which is a very big place.
Stephen Colbert
Yes, yes.
Dua Lipa
Very vague for me to just say it's very big, very large. Is that something you enjoy, being on tour?
Stephen Colbert
I do you.
Dua Lipa
Do you like the cause? Five weeks, you just go, go, go. Like you don't know where you're waking up tomorrow or you know where you're waking up tomorrow, but do you know where you are when you wake up? If you know what I mean? You're like, wait, what city is that?
Stephen Colbert
I'm like, I'm not too sure. It depends. It's like, it's so high octane, you know, when I'm on the road, it's like five weeks of just nonstop, what's the next place? What am I gonna do? But also figuring out a routine in every single place.
Dua Lipa
How many shows a week?
Stephen Colbert
3 to 4.
Dua Lipa
3 to 4.
Stephen Colbert
3 to 4 shows a week.
Dua Lipa
Okay.
Stephen Colbert
And then quite a bit of travel in between. But then I like to make sure that I go and do something touristy or go to a nice restaurant or go and see places.
Dua Lipa
Well, that's nice. So it's not to land the plane, do the show, back on the plane, off to the next place?
Stephen Colbert
No, no, no. Get a little bit of time in some cases.
Dua Lipa
Can Dua Lipa do that, though? Can Dua l just go out in town and kick it?
Stephen Colbert
Yeah.
Dua Lipa
Really?
Stephen Colbert
Yeah.
Dua Lipa
People don't bother Dua Lipa.
Stephen Colbert
No, it's okay. I mean, sometimes somebody might come and say hello or whatever, but for the most part, I think if you just do, like, I don't know, sometimes people bring on more attention when you make it a big deal about leaving the house or going out or doing something. When you just go and you show up somewhere, it's kind of much more. I guess it's worked for me in that way where I just, like, rock up somewhere unannounced, and it's. And it's actually fine.
Dua Lipa
A baseball cap, sunglasses, you know, headphones, sometimes mini jacket.
Stephen Colbert
Headphones. What the headphones.
Dua Lipa
Headphones.
Stephen Colbert
Part of the disguise.
Dua Lipa
I'm not Dua Lipa, but if I. But if I want to go someplace and really want my head to be kind of broken up so my profile is not recognized, I find a big, chunky pair of headphones helps.
Stephen Colbert
Oh, I haven't tried that. That's a good tip.
Dua Lipa
Yeah, I like that. I like to provide that to my guests.
Stephen Colbert
Yeah. Thank you so much.
Dua Lipa
Exactly. Yeah. Whenever I go out, no one ever goes, there's Dua Lipa. So, okay, as I said, Asia is a big place. Do you have a favorite part of Asia?
Stephen Colbert
Gosh. Everywhere I went was really amazing and so unique and different.
Dua Lipa
You can name one. They're not gonna. No one's feelings are gonna be hurt.
Stephen Colbert
But I really loved Bangkok.
Dua Lipa
Oh, wow. I've never been.
Stephen Colbert
I did. I really loved it. I'd been to all these places once before, but Bangkok was the one city where the last time I came, it was very much, fly in, do the show and fly out the next day. So I spent the day in bed eating Tom Yum soup and then doing the show. Whereas this time round, I really had the opportunity to go and explore and see the place and I just absolutely fell in love with it.
Dua Lipa
Sell me on Bangkok. I don't know anything.
Stephen Colbert
Well, it just has so much culture and the people are so lovely and the food is unbelievable. And if you like spicy food like me, then what's Tom Young soup? It's like, it's. I don't know how to explain it. It's a brothy soup with vegetables. It's quite spicy. Sometimes there's shrimp in it and there's like lemongrass and it's really warming and delicious.
Dua Lipa
Were you ever a waitress?
Stephen Colbert
I was a hostess.
Dua Lipa
You were a hostess?
Stephen Colbert
Yes.
Dua Lipa
Really? Where?
Stephen Colbert
In a restaurant in London called Labadega Negra. It's a Mexican restaurant in Soho.
Dua Lipa
Wow. And were you good?
Stephen Colbert
I'd like to think so.
Dua Lipa
I just threw that out because I thought, like, wow. You described that soup very well. And I would definitely buy that soup if you. Dua lipa sold me that.
Stephen Colbert
My job was to walk people to the table. But I was really good at making sure everybody got good cocktails.
Dua Lipa
Oh, good.
Stephen Colbert
It was like the cocktails, the margaritas, they're banging. You gotta try. And then people get really drunk. And then I would actually have to deal with that part.
Dua Lipa
Well, right. Did you have to do a hot plate count?
Stephen Colbert
What's that?
Dua Lipa
I was. I was a. I was a matrix. I was a host at a restaurant when I first started. Before I could wait. They made you host before you could get one of the tables. Cause waiting is where the cash was. And so they made you host first. And a hot plate count was. And we'll definitely edit this out. Cause no one will care about my answer.
Stephen Colbert
Well, I want to know now.
Dua Lipa
So the host was responsible for a hot plate count, which means you had to tell the kitchen how many people were seated over, how many orders were in and not yet served. So it was like under. So you'd say, like, you go like, I got 55 over 102. Meaning there's 102 people seated in the restaurant and there are 55 orders pending that haven't gone out to them yet. It was a way for the kitchen to know how much pressure was on them, how backed up they were.
Stephen Colbert
Sounds like a lot.
Dua Lipa
Yeah. That night I probably did it wrong just now, but that night it would have been. My manager was very on me about keeping the hot plate count going. All the time. Because he was on a lot of cocaine, right? Yeah, yeah. And so he was eager for everything to be accomplished very quickly. How do you manage? How do you manage? So again, all of that will be edited out.
Stephen Colbert
Right.
Dua Lipa
So there you are, you're in bed, it's breakfast. You're having a little hot soup to get you going for the day. What time did you go to bed the night before? I'm curious, because after the adrenal of the concert, how do you calm down?
Stephen Colbert
Gosh, it takes me a really long time to come down from the adrenaline. Usually I'm up until about 4:00 in the morning.
Dua Lipa
Are you?
Stephen Colbert
Even if I'm exhausted.
Dua Lipa
And the concert came down at what, midnight?
Stephen Colbert
No, the concert finishes probably around 10pm.
Dua Lipa
And then are you in the club? Yeah.
Stephen Colbert
In Asia? Well, yes.
Dua Lipa
You're going back to the club?
Stephen Colbert
I'm back in the club.
Dua Lipa
Wow.
Stephen Colbert
Back in the club. Because. Okay, let's say the show's like 8, 8:30 most nights.
Dua Lipa
Yes.
Stephen Colbert
Finish around 9:30, 10:00.
Dua Lipa
Yeah.
Stephen Colbert
And then I'm like, okay, I'm gonna be up, tired, but in bed, not doing anything, so I might as well go and have a drink.
Dua Lipa
Yeah, yeah.
Stephen Colbert
And if you're.
Dua Lipa
As long as you're having a drink, you might as well dance.
Stephen Colbert
Exactly. So then if I'm drinking and I'm dancing and then that bar closes, then maybe I could go to another place and carry on.
Dua Lipa
Right, because you're so thirsty from all the dancing that you need another drink. Exactly.
Stephen Colbert
Right.
Dua Lipa
And what, so, and you're going to bed around what time are we getting up? Dua Lipa.
Stephen Colbert
We're getting up. Actually, it's not too bad. It depends. Probably like 10.
Dua Lipa
And you went to bed at 4?
Stephen Colbert
Yeah.
Dua Lipa
That's not enough. That's not enough. Dua Lipa.
Stephen Colbert
But it's okay, it's good. It works for me.
Dua Lipa
It works because I worked in cabaret. Let's get back to me, when I worked in cabaret when I was your age, when I was your age, when I was in my 20s and out there doing my thing in the clove in the club, I worked cabaret. And we'd be done, it's about 2am because we did a midnight show and there'd be an improv set and I wouldn't be in bed till 4 o'clock in the morning and then I would sleep till noon. And this worried my fiance, now my wife, right, Evie McGee, so much that before we got married, she literally made me go to the doctor to Find out why I slept so late.
Stephen Colbert
No, no.
Dua Lipa
She's from a family that really gets done right. You know what I mean? Scott's Presbyterian. You know, napping. Are you ill? Why are you nap.
Stephen Colbert
Yeah, why are you sleeping?
Dua Lipa
Yeah. So I went to the doctor and I said, my fiance wants to know if this is bad, that I sleep till noon.
Stephen Colbert
What was the verdict?
Dua Lipa
He said, when do you go to bed? I said, four. And he goes, that's eight hours. Tell her there's nothing wrong. And you know what she said? I want you to see a different doctor. So I'm saying to you, because channeling my wife, I think you need more than six hours of sleep. Not that you look tired. You're fresh as a daisy.
Stephen Colbert
It takes a small army.
Dua Lipa
Oh. To strap you in every time. Okay, so is there a difference between. Because you've toured all over the world, do you have a favorite continent that you like to perform on? Not because the people are better. People are wonderful everywhere you are. But who reacts to Dua Lipa the way that most excites you? Is it home? Is it London?
Stephen Colbert
Home in London is really fun. It is really fun. But it's also probably the most nerve wracking because I have so much family and friends in the audience.
Dua Lipa
Yes.
Stephen Colbert
That there is something really just terrifying about that as well. But I think in terms of just, I don't know, crowds that are just absolutely bananas and so much fun is really South America, I think, I think, I think a lot of artists would say that because the energy is just so infectious.
Dua Lipa
They give you a lot.
Stephen Colbert
They give me a lot. And also I think I feed off the crowd and the audience so much, you know, so it's a real dance. It's a dance between the two of us.
Dua Lipa
Well, it's impossible to listen to music and not want to dance, you know, Billboard, Baby Doo Lip and make them dance when you come on.
Stephen Colbert
Exactly.
Dua Lipa
Everybody looking for a dance floor to run on. So how is, how exciting is it you got so many great hits, People love your music all around the world. How exciting is it for you to hear your music out in the wilderness? Like you just walk into the street and go into a store or something and you hear you.
Stephen Colbert
It's very fun. It's very exciting. Because you know why? Because I never listen to my own music especially. So once it comes out, I don't listen to it unless I'm prepping for tour or for a performance or a show or something. So that's when I kind of listen to something over and over or on a music video or when it's. When it's work related. Like, I take all the time in the world and then once it's out, I don't really listen to it. So when I hear it out in the wilderness, I get very excited.
Dua Lipa
Is that me?
Stephen Colbert
I was like, oh, my God.
Dua Lipa
What's the strangest place you've heard your own music played? Back to you.
Stephen Colbert
Okay, so last time I was here in New York, I was in a car and stuck in traffic. I can hear my song blaring from a little bit further away. So I put the window down. I can just see the car next to me, windows down, blaring Houdini. And I was like, wow, this is the best thing ever. I just got so excited. I just loved.
Dua Lipa
Did you wave?
Stephen Colbert
I got nervous.
Dua Lipa
They would have lost their minds.
Stephen Colbert
I got nervous. Oh, actually, that just reminds me. Do you know what was funny? Was I. Now I'm thinking about weird places where I heard my music. And I was in Austin, Texas, and I was having lunch. So fun. And I was having lunch by, like this, like, waterfront bar. And this party boat just drives past or. Yeah, drives past. Drives past, whatever. Drives past, drives past. And it's blaring. One kiss. They have no idea that I'm there. And I was just like. Again, it was one of those moments where I was like, oh, this is really fun. Just like having the time of their life to one kiss. It made me really.
Dua Lipa
Now, one of the things I love about the UK is that I love being in London before Christmas because as I've said many times, I think y'all do it better than we do. Cause you don't have Thanksgiving in the way to, like, get ramped up.
Stephen Colbert
We didn't have the pregame.
Dua Lipa
You don't have the pregame. You go straight into it.
Stephen Colbert
Yeah.
Dua Lipa
Do you have, you know, Christmas family traditions or holiday traditions?
Stephen Colbert
You most look forward to holiday traditions. So me and my friends, we always do a Christmas quiz.
Dua Lipa
On Christmas?
Stephen Colbert
No, just like the weekend before.
Dua Lipa
Okay.
Stephen Colbert
And that's always. I mean, it's like.
Dua Lipa
Like a trivia contest or something.
Stephen Colbert
Yeah, trivia. Like pop quiz of pop culture moments that have happened during the year. But then also taste test stuff like mince pie tasting, champagne tasting, you know, and then you gotta see who's got the best taste buds. You know, it's very important to know whether you can tell the difference between a posh mince pie and a not so posh mince pie.
Dua Lipa
It's very important in America that would be very hard for us to do.
Stephen Colbert
And a mince pie, you know, it's sweet.
Dua Lipa
I know, I know. But it's also very. Very sort of fragrant and like. Well, it's spiced. It's got.
Stephen Colbert
Yeah, it's got, like, spiced and it's got raisins and clovey and fruit, stuff.
Dua Lipa
Like that in it.
Stephen Colbert
But I think it's all to do anyway. This is crazy.
Dua Lipa
People are writing the recipe down right now.
Stephen Colbert
Yeah, it's about the. I think it's like the flaky crust is where you can tell how posh it is.
Dua Lipa
Do you cook?
Stephen Colbert
I love to cook.
Dua Lipa
Really?
Stephen Colbert
Yeah.
Dua Lipa
Do you have a flaky crust?
Stephen Colbert
I do have a flaky crust. I cook Christmas lunch. I do it every year.
Dua Lipa
What do you do? I love it. In America, we all do a bird. Do you do a beef? What do you do?
Stephen Colbert
No, we do a turkey.
Dua Lipa
We do a turkey.
Stephen Colbert
We do a turkey and then we do the roast potatoes and cauliflower cheese and sage and onion stuffing and. Oh, Yorkshire pudding. Very important part of the.
Dua Lipa
Yeah, yeah, sure, sure.
Stephen Colbert
Part of the meal. And then the veggies. That's kind of.
Dua Lipa
Now, one of the things we talked about the last time you were here is that you have a weekly newsletter service 95. And you make recommendations. You make lists. You have thoughts in there. You're a recommendations queen now because of service 95. What should I get Evie for Christmas?
Stephen Colbert
And.
Dua Lipa
Hold on one second. Evie's in the building right now, so, darling, wherever you are in the building, please mute the television. What should I get her?
Stephen Colbert
How much money you got?
Dua Lipa
Okay. I do. Okay.
Stephen Colbert
You know what, actually?
Dua Lipa
What?
Stephen Colbert
Is she quite active? Does she like to do sports and stuff? So I have just recently bought these compression boots.
Dua Lipa
Compression boots?
Stephen Colbert
Yeah, like compression socks and boots. But they're boots. So you wear them. They go all the way up to here, and you press a button and they just squeeze the life out of you. It's the best thing in the world. It'll save you doing the foot massage.
Dua Lipa
Or so I don't know. So they go all the way up and they're hydraulic or they're electric or something. How do they work?
Stephen Colbert
They just. It's air. So they inflate.
Dua Lipa
Sure.
Stephen Colbert
But they inflate quite heavily, so you.
Dua Lipa
Feel really squeezed and they go pump or something like that.
Stephen Colbert
Like that squeezes your leg and then holds it and then releases.
Dua Lipa
And what would you recommend she be wearing other than the boots at this point?
Stephen Colbert
Um, I don't know, like Underwear and, like, a top or something. Shorts, shorts, shorts, something. Or you could do leggings. It really depends. But it's just for your legs.
Dua Lipa
Great. Would I enjoy these boots?
Stephen Colbert
Yes.
Dua Lipa
Yes. I mean, if I were wearing them?
Stephen Colbert
Ex.
Dua Lipa
Yes. Okay, honey, you can turn it on now. No. Service 95. Also book club, which I did not know.
Stephen Colbert
Yes, we do.
Dua Lipa
And you're announcing your next book. Shall I say this, or would you like to say this?
Stephen Colbert
I can say it. This is the next book of the month is Drive youe Plow over the Bones of the Dead by Olga Tokarzuk.
Dua Lipa
And it's just in time for Christmas.
Stephen Colbert
Just in time for Christmas. It's a fantastic book. I have no doubt it's fantastic. It's kind of a crime novel, but it has a bit of philosophy and astrology peppered into it. And the author's actually a Nobel Prize laureate for literature. And I think reading this book will really show you why it's absolutely stunning.
Dua Lipa
All right, that's next up. And then how will people discuss it?
Stephen Colbert
So then I do an interview with Olga. And so we discuss different topics from the book, and then we get reading lists and playlists and things that inspired the book. And the authors, everyone who I speak to, they're always so generous, and they offer essays and extra bits around the book. So if you enjoy the book, then there's always lots more to read and enjoy.

What should people expect from An Evening With Dua Lipa? Dua Lipa.
Stephen Colbert
Well, it's a very. It's a very fun evening. It's the inspiration behind this album. And this evening was when I was making Radical Optimism. It was so inspired by live music. And I always. With every album, I end up reimagining them in some capacity. And so this one felt really important to me to be able to go back to the music and do it with a full orchestra. And, I don't know, the experience for me was just unbelievable. I felt so spoiled. I got to be right in the middle, surrounded by so many incredible musicians. And I think, well, for one, it was one of my most favorite shows I'd ever done in my life. And also, I just. I was like, this is really where I'm supposed to be as close to the music as I can get. And there was just. I don't know, it just left such a wonderful feeling as to maybe where I want to go next.
Dua Lipa
Well, it's not just the performances, it's also behind the scenes footage. And we have a clip here. Do we need to know anything about this or self explanatory?
Stephen Colbert
I think it's self explanatory. We go for it.
Dua Lipa
Jim.
Stephen Colbert
I had a teacher there called Ray and he was the best. He kind of heard my really deep voice. He was like, oh, you've got something special, use it. You know, sometimes all it takes is like one thing for them to say and that carries you on for the rest of your life. But he completely changed my Life. It's been 10 years since I've seen him.
Dua Lipa
Well, I first met Dua when she arrived at the Sylvia Young Theatre School in London. She was a confident singer even at that age and she had joy in doing it. She was able to connect the emotion with the voice. But, you know, behind that was the idea that if you're only doing the things that are comfortable to you, I just don't think the boundaries, you know, stretch enough. So I was always trying to find things that were tricky for her to do.
Stephen Colbert
Hi.
