Meghan Fahey
Please welcome to the Late Show Meghan Fahey. There you go. Hello.
Devin
Hi.
Meghan Fahey
Nice to meet you.
Devin
Nice to meet you, too.
Meghan Fahey
I understand you just had a birthday.
Devin
I understand you just had a birthday.
Meghan Fahey
I did. Which one was yours? What year was it for you?
Devin
Mine was April 25th.
Meghan Fahey
Oh, mine was May 13th.
Devin
Oh, yours was more recent than mine.
Meghan Fahey
Exactly.
Devin
Yeah.
Meghan Fahey
Yeah. Let's say how old we turn?
Devin
Okay, ready? 1, 2, 3.
Meghan Fahey
35. 35. What?
Devin
Yes.
Meghan Fahey
I didn't say that. 35. I knew.
Devin
I knew you'd say that.
Meghan Fahey
What are the odds?
Devin
Should have guessed it.
Meghan Fahey
Now, did you? We didn't do anything. I literally did nothing for my birthday. Did you do anything?
Devin
I usually do nothing for my birthday.
Meghan Fahey
But 35 is a good year.
Devin
That's what I was thinking.
Meghan Fahey
Yes.
Devin
So this year I did a little something. I'm working in Atlanta right now, so some of my friends from New York came down to Georgia and we rented a house on Lake Lanier and we had a little lake weekend. It was gorgeous. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Meghan Fahey
Do like an Airbnb or something like that.
Devin
Oh, did we? Yes, we did.
Meghan Fahey
You had a good time?
Devin
Yeah, we had a great time. The host was less impressed with the fun time we had.
Meghan Fahey
Ok.
Devin
But we had a blast.
Meghan Fahey
Trouble?
Devin
Not really. I mean, that was the thing. The comment was nice, but on the messy and rowdy side.
Meghan Fahey
That's what you got in your review?
Devin
Yes.
Meghan Fahey
They reviewed you as messy and rowdy?
Stephen Colbert
Yes.
Devin
And it's the only Airbnb review I've ever received. That sounds so. Like, if you go to my thing, it just says that about me. That's it.
Meghan Fahey
Wow. You should put that on your resume, Megan Fabian.
Devin
I mean, in some spaces, that could be considered a really good thing. Nice, but a little rowdy.
Meghan Fahey
The folks out there know you as messy and rowdy at this point, but also from your TV and your movie roles. But your first gig, your first big gig, I understand, was an understudy on Broadway.
Devin
Yes.
Meghan Fahey
What did you.
Devin
Just around the corner from here.
Meghan Fahey
What theater was it?
Devin
The Booth.
Meghan Fahey
Okay. What'd you understudy?
Devin
I was in a show called Next to Normal.
Meghan Fahey
Mm. What year are we talking here?
Devin
This would have been 2009.
Meghan Fahey
2009. Okay, so you were 19.
Devin
Imagine if I was 29. I was. Yeah.
Meghan Fahey
That's a good gig. An understudy on Broadway.
Stephen Colbert
It was great.
Meghan Fahey
I've never been an understudy on Broadway. Is that fun?
Devin
It's so fun, but it's really hard.
Meghan Fahey
Cause you have to know everything and you don't get to do anything.
Devin
Yeah, I think. Exactly. And you always have to be ready to do everything without having done the thing in a long time in case.
Meghan Fahey
The person you're understanding breaks their leg or something like that.
Devin
Yeah, exactly.
Meghan Fahey
Do you get the perks? One of the things that people who are doing Broadway often say is like, oh, it's great when an X or Y star came back and I was so wonderful that Meryl Streep or Lily Tomlin or whatever, Tom Cruise came back to say hi. Does the understudy get that? Or are they like, no, get away from me, you odious child. Give me the star.
Devin
Well, the thing that's actually so special is because it is true, if people come to see the show, they like to come back and say hi. But if you're the understudy, it's like you weren't in it, so you're less interesting. Just, you know. But Jennifer Garner came to see the show and I was still the understudy and I was just really taken with her because she was so. She took such an interest in me and she really didn't have to do that.
Meghan Fahey
She's the best. She's lovely. She was our babysitter.
Devin
Yes. I heard this.
Meghan Fahey
Yeah.
Devin
Yeah. That's so cool.
Meghan Fahey
It is, yeah.
Devin
She really is the best.
Meghan Fahey
Yeah, yeah. I'm just agreeing. I don't know what else to say. I don't know why they're laughing. She's the best. No, neither Jen is absolutely the best.
Devin
Facts only, you guys.
Meghan Fahey
Exactly. Did you babysit when you were like. Were you a young actress taking. Cause she was an actress. I had no job and she had no job. We'd done a show together. She was like, I need a gig.
Devin
You had no job and you still needed a babysitter. I'm sorry.
Meghan Fahey
We had both just been in Spin City and the show was over. Like we had.
Devin
Which is very cool, by the way. I'm sorry I had to say that.
Meghan Fahey
No, no, you absolutely. But I did have a baby, so occasionally my wife and I wanted to be dinner.
Devin
Yes. By the way, she has four kids.
Meghan Fahey
That's how you get a second baby. Yes.
Devin
I don't have a kid.
Stephen Colbert
So you don't have a kids.
Devin
You don't have it. Exactly. I know that. That's a full time job in and of itself.
Meghan Fahey
Now you're starting in the new Show Sirens, we just saw a clip of. And Julianne Moore is in it as well. What's it about?
Devin
So as you guys could tell from the clip, Devin is got. She's a little angry at her sister.
Meghan Fahey
Your character, Devin. Yes.
Devin
So she shows up to sort of try to convince her sister to come home and help with their sick dad, and her little sister wants nothing to do with it. And Julianne Moore plays this sort of ethereal, potentially cult leader woman.
Meghan Fahey
Like that place we were just seeing is like a cult, potentially. We don't know.
Devin
Yeah, you'll have to tune in to find out.
Meghan Fahey
All right.
Devin
But I think Devin, my character thinks it is a cult and so becomes very intent on sort of extracting her sister from that environment.
Meghan Fahey
I'm kind of a cult fan, so.
Devin
So am I.
Meghan Fahey
Would you want to be in a cult?
Devin
So I don't want to be in one because the information I've gathered, like, I haven't heard about one yet. That is cool.
Meghan Fahey
Yeah.
Devin
But I'm fascinated by.
Meghan Fahey
Would you want to lead a cult?
Devin
I definitely could do that.
Meghan Fahey
Okay, well, if you lead a cult, I'll join your cult. Because I want to be in a cult. Because I want someone to tell me what to do at every time.
Devin
You want to be in my cult?
Meghan Fahey
I don't want to make any more decisions.
Devin
Ok. That's actually exactly what they're looking for.
Meghan Fahey
I know. I'm totally ready. Give me a guru. I'll wear the robe, I'll eat the corn. I'll follow the words of father.
Devin
I don't think we're doing robes in my cult.
Meghan Fahey
No robes, just nudes.
Devin
Just regular clothes.
Meghan Fahey
Yeah. Oh, regular clothes.
Devin
Regular clothes.
Meghan Fahey
