"Funny, fast, witty and brutal. Whenever he's got a new book out I drop everything, knowing that the next couple of hours are going to be pure gang land bliss. Gawd bless 'im."DAVID BOWIE My guest on The Music Transmission is British author Jake Arnott. Novel writing can be a lonely process. We get right into the gritty details of creative rituals, the idea of plot balance and finding that elusive world that exists somewhere between the avant-garde and the utterly trashy. Best known for his crime series The Long Firm trilogy, adapted as an award-winning BBC prime-time drama, Jake Arnott's other novels include Johnny Come Home, The Devil's Paintbrush, The House of Rumour, The Visa Affair and The Fatal Tree. He also writes for Doctor Who - his 2014 episode 'A Handful Of Stardust' a firm favourite with Whovians worldwide. Jake Arnott and myself have also just embarked on the epic adventure of writing an opera. Stay tuned for more on that later on. This episode of The Music Transmission was recorded on a blustery day at Jake's atmospheric seafront home on the south coast of England. www.jakearnott.com --- About the podcast Every month, BAFTA award-winning composer Jamsheed Master interviews leading creators from around the world and has them walk through their creative process and techniques to help you unlock your own creativity. www.jamsheedmaster.com/podcast

It's not often you get to chat with a legend. Damh (Dave) The Bard is something of a hero in the Druid and Pagan world. In this episode of The Music Transmission, he talks us through his musical process: how he writes his songs, his process, how the music develops and a little-known secret. Accompanied by the mystical forces that surround our sacred land, Damh is a modern-day Bard whose spirituality and love of folk tradition is expressed through his music, storytelling and poetry. www.paganmusic.co.uk www.anderidagorsedd.org www.druidry.org www.druidcast.libsyn.com --- About the podcast Every month, BAFTA award-winning composer Jamsheed Master interviews leading creatives and has them walk through their creative process and techniques to help you unlock your own creativity. --- www.jamsheedmaster.com/podcast

David was one of the last Ringmasters for Ringling Bros. Barnum & Bailey Circus before the 147 year-old American institution closed its doors for good. His life has taken him across the USA on a circus train, to Uganda to work with children, to a lap around the planet as a singer on a world cruise. Life begins at the end of your comfort zone. Live boldly. Take risks. These are the mantras that keep David Shipman moving and growing and changing. He took the bold step of leaving his job on a whim and ended up with one of the most famous jobs in American culture. David Shipman joins Jamsheed Master to talk about his life, his loves, his underwear and who's coming to dinner. --- About the podcast Every month, BAFTA award-winning composer Jamsheed Master interviews leading creatives and has them walk through their creative process and techniques to help you unlock your own creativity. --- www.jamsheedmaster.com/podcast
