B
And I'm Kristen. Welcome to the Nightly from Hatch, a slumber party for pop culture lovers. Sophia, it is so good to be with you again here in the pillow fort.
A
I know it's been a while.
B
It has been. And I know this episode is coming out in a week or two, but I really, really want to talk about your Spotify Wrapped.
A
It's my Spotify Wrapped. Y' all give it up. For me, every year, Spotify Wrapped is a humiliation. I feel. Every year I feel humiliated by what it has to tell me. I have a friend who has good taste in music and every year texts and is like, what's yours? What's yours? And I'm like, you want to humiliate me? You want to laugh at me? But they told me my listening age was 74, which I don't even know what that means. I think that was a new feature this year.
B
What is that, about 50 years off?
A
Maybe roughly 50 years off. And it's interesting because all of my top musicians and songs were like contemporary pop music, but they give you a listening age. And it said it's cause I listened to music from the 60s, which I listened to old music for sure. But it didn't seem super in line with like, the rest of what they were telling me. But it ran the gambit. I saw my brother got 19, which was making me laugh as his listening age.
B
How old is your brother?
A
He's 31.
B
Oh, my God.
A
Also, I saw someone who got 81. And then one of my friends told me that her friend got 87 years old.
B
What?
A
I don't know. Because it said I'm 74, because I listen to music from like the 60s or something. So I'm like, she's listening to music from like the 40s. But I don't know.
B
This is so wild to me. I think of you as so young and hip and on it. And not that you can't be young and hip and on it and in your 70s. Obviously you can. But of course, wow. Very surprising.
A
It's surprising. That's it. And then I had some, like, some of it. It's just so embarrassing. Like the music that I was listening.
B
Well, like, give me some examples.
A
There's this musician called Role Model. Do you know him? I doubt it.
B
Hold on. Is Role Model the one who always Brings up somebody on stage for that one song.
A
Yes, yes, yes.
B
And I. You know how I discovered Role Model? So, Sofia, you and I live in Brooklyn, and, you know the big Paramount Theater. That's in Brooklyn. There was one day I was walking past the Paramount Theater, and I think it two in the afternoon, and people had their sleeping bags and folding chairs out, and I'm like, oh, my God, are people literally sleeping out for a concert at the Paramount? What is it? And I asked somebody online, and they said, role model. And then I went home and I Googled Role Model because I didn't know who Role Model was. And then I learned I went down a rabbit hole. I'm like, oh, okay, okay. Oh, I know that one song. Okay.
A
All right, now we're hip to it. But he was in. One of my top songs was one of his songs, which I felt quite embarrassed by. All love to him, but he put out an album that I listened to.
B
But you're embarrassed about it. Don't be embarrassed.
A
I don't feel like I thought the album was that good, but I just listened to it a lot. I guess that's what happened. If you had to make a guess, do you think you could guess, like, who you listened to the most this year?
B
Oh, gosh. Well, I stopped my Spotify account a year or two ago, so I don't have Spotify judging me about it, but.
A
Thank God.
B
I feel like I'm that person who's always, like, two years behind on music. So I'm like. I'm like, oh, what songs have I recently sung along to? Pink Pony Club. Like, when did that song come out? Like, five years ago, actually. I don't know.
A
I have no idea. Maybe like, two or three.
B
Yeah. So I always feel like I'm, like, two or three years behind on music and.
A
Yeah.
B
And then. Oh, whenever I read a celebrity memoir, if the celebrity is a musician, I'll listen to their songs, so.
A
Oh, yeah, fun.
B
Ronnie Spector's memoir, which was so good, I listened to earlier this year, and Rosie Perez narrates it, which makes it super fun. But then I listened to a bunch of Ronnie spector, so that's 60s music.
A
Okay, so maybe you would have gotten 74 also.
B
Yeah. You and I just would have been Golden Girls together so far.
A
Yes, exactly. We just need one more.
B
So. Yeah, I think I listened to everything from, like, three years ago to the 60s, I guess. Yeah. Same as you.
A
Yeah, exactly.
B
But I don't have Spotify to judge me, so I'm not really sure.
A
Yeah.
B
It's.
A
And that's good. It's better to not have it. But our sweet producers put together a little hatch raft, a nightly raft, where they look. I don't. They collected data.
B
Yes.
A
Took them days and days to figure out what our most frequently talked about topics were. And yours. You got Minnesota.
B
Yes, of course I did. And you know what? I can say that Minnesota comes up in a few different ways with different people I'm talking with. It depends on who I'm talking with. But I know for Jacquis, for example, he and I, because we're both Midwesterners, he's from Chicago, I'm from Minnesota. So it comes up every once in a while when we're together. Actually, more than every once in a while. We just like vibe on our Midwesterness.
A
There's lots to talk about.
B
Yeah. So that happens. And then, you know, with other people, I might talk about Little House on the Prairie, which is Minnesota. In other cases, that might just be catching up on where I've been. And I go back to Minnesota at least once a year. So, yeah, Minnesota comes up a lot. And with you, Sophia, your hatch wrapped number one topic is surprise. Your cats.
A
Of course. I talk about them all the time. I was thinking about them.
B
We love your cats around here.
A
I literally was just thinking. I was like, just love talking about them. I love thinking about them. But I mean, I can talk about them all the time. There's always something to say about them. They're always doing something that I find deeply interesting. So to me, I'm like, let's talk about cats. Come on.
B
No, I totally get it. I was just in New Zealand for a couple of weeks hanging with my mother in law. She has this cat who is hands down the most talkative cat I have ever met in my whole life. This cat enters the room and introduces herself to everybody. She talks and talks and talks like, hey, everybody, it's me. I just walked into the room. It's Sheba. Check it out. Who wants to rub my belly? I'm gonna walk up to each person and keep talking. Like, she never shuts up. And I just think it's so hilarious. So I'm like, yeah, what's not to talk about?
A
There's so much to talk about.
B
Yeah. This cat is so conversational. And then we all just end up narrating what we think she's saying.
A
Yeah, of course.
B
Which I think everybody does that with animals, right?
A
For sure. I definitely do that. Yeah. I think about them and talk about them. I take photos of them all the time. Whenever I like look and see, like, how many photos I've taken of them, like in my camera roll. It's literally like thousands and thousands of photos of that. I just can't help it. Every day it's something new, you know.
B
The love of a cat. That's something to celebrate. And times two in your case.
A
Yeah, I'm certainly celebrating it. So that's our little hatch wrapped. Our nightly wrapped, which I'm happy, I'm happy to know. Tonight we're gonna play one of my favorite games or activities that we do on here. So I'll start with a question. I'm wondering, Kristin, if you've had any memorable dreams lately?
B
Ah, we're doing amateur dream interpretation, aren't we?
A
Yeah, we are.
B
I love it. I love it. All right, so here's a dream I had very recently. I dreamed I was hanging out with this very famous woman. She was so famous and she was so nice. In real life, you know, you kind of hope that famous people, when you meet them, will actually be nice.
A
Yeah.
B
She exceeded all expectations. And maybe the reason she exceeded expectations is because for the life of me, I could not place who she was. I just knew I was hanging out with someone very famous. And it was so embarrassing because I'm like, I know I'm with somebody who's huge, but I just don't know who it is. And she and I were hanging out and people were coming up to us left and right. And every time she interacted with a fan, I would, you know, listen closely, hoping that I would get a clue to who she actually was. Like, is somebody actually going to say her name? Is someone going to say like, I loved you in that one project or that movie? But nobody ever would say anything specific. They're just like, I love you. And so, yeah, I was really embarrassed about it. And when I explain what she looked like, I don't think you'll know who she was either, because this is such a generic description. Okay, all right, so she was white with blonde hair, middle age, ish. Maybe late 50s. And she had kind of a soft, huggable body type.
A
Okay.
B
And maybe she was 55 or 5 6. And isn't that like the most generic description you've ever heard in your life of a 59 year old white woman?
A
But she had a magnetism about her.
B
Oh my God, she did. There was just some sort of sparkle about her. And when she smiled, she just lit up the whole room. And I cannot for the life of me figure out who she was. But afterward when I woke up, I just did this Google search for like 59 year old blonde white women with soft bodies. Like, I did like this kind of search and there are just like a million stock images of all these women who look exactly the same. So I don't know who it was.
A
Do you think she's a real person or that your brain just invented someone new?
B
I'm not sure. I don't know if my brain does invent new people. Honestly, I feel like my brain sees something sometime in my life and just remembers it. And the thing my brain sees might be someone sitting on a plane with me. It might be somebody on TV or in a print ad. It could be anywhere. But I just, I don't know who this was. But I kept thinking maybe it's like a home shopping personality. Because she had that vibe, if you know what I mean by that. Vibe? Yeah, like there wasn't anything edgy about her.
A
Yeah, totally.
B
And she didn't seem like the energy of Angelina Jolie or anything like that. She just was like, nice, approachable lady.
A
Yeah, yeah. Well, they say, like, I don't know how in my mind I'm like, this can't be true. But it's one of those things that you always hear, which is that they're like, you can't dream a new face. Like, it's just you, you know? Have you heard this before? It's like it's someone you've seen before. Do you know that?
B
I believe it. I totally believe that because I. I don't even know how I would personally make up a new face.
A
That's true. That's true. I can make up a new face. But then it's like, that's someone.
B
Oh, can you?
A
Sure. But I'm just toggling. I'm doing like Mr. Potato Head or like Sims in my head. I'm like toggling through all of the, like, different features. I'm like, okay, I've made a new face.
B
Okay, all right. Somebody with a nose that and somebody with eyes like this. And okay, that's a face. But I still feel like I can't quite do it unless I have the options first. Like you said, like, Mr. Potato Head. Like, here are some things to staple onto here to work with.
A
Yeah, yeah, exactly. Okay. Interesting. Yeah. Well, to me, my initial reaction is that I'm like, she's part of you.
B
I'm like, I would love it if she were part of me because she was so sweet and lovely and delightful and like, I Said huggable. There was something about her that was just so huggable and no pretension. So if I had some of those qualities, I'd be like, yes.
A
Well, I feel like you're super likable and friendly and huggable. So I'm like, it seems like matching up, but I'm like, she's your inner star or something. Oh my gosh.
B
I could be that 59 year old woman.
A
Yes. On the Home Shopping Network. Oh my gosh.
B
Maybe. Maybe that's something to aspire to, be that person.
A
I'm sure. Wait, my other question is, in the dream, were you guys already friends? Like, you were like, did you feel like you had an established relationship with her? Or you were like, I'm having like a once in a lifetime. You're having a make a wish moment where you get to hang out with your favorite celebrity that you don't know the name of.
B
You know, I think that I might have been sent to, to her to be her chaperone or something like that for a business purpose or possibly for a journalism purpose. I'm not really sure why, but for some reason I was the one who was there for her. Like, oh, hi, welcome. I think that's what happened. I don't think it's just like we met at a party and liked each other so much that we're like, let's leave this party and do some fun things together. Like, I think we got together originally for some sort of professional reason.
A
Okay. I'm trying to think. I'm like, do you want a new friend? I'm trying to think of anything it could mean.
B
Maybe it could just be like, she's assigned to embrace people for who they are, not what they do.
A
That's very true.
B
Because I really loved her. Even though I didn't know what she was famous for. I knew she was famous, but I just didn't know what it was.
A
Yeah.
B
And maybe there's a tiny part of me that's not fully appreciating people for who they are. I don't really think that's true though.
A
Maybe you were just supposed to have a fun day out with your gal. Yeah.
B
Or maybe I should just keep an open mind about doing the unexpected and meeting unexpected people more.
A
Of course. I mean, that's amazing. She's a guiding light for you.
B
She is, she is. I love that robust, huggable, blonde, smiley lady. Whoever you are out there, if this sounds like you, thank you for visiting me in my dreams.
A
If this sounds like you, please come.
B
Forward.
A
We'Re offering a reward, so. Well, this actually reminded me of a dream that I had that I can share.
B
Oh yes.
A
It's not as detailed but as you were saying, I was like, okay, I think I have one to bring and because it was about a celebrity. But I know who it is.
B
Okay?
A
I know who it is. I had a dream that I fell in love. Well, we fell in love with each other. Okay.
B
It's not one sided here. This has not been requited.
A
We met and we fell in love and it was Selena Gomez.
B
I love Selena Gomez.
A
I don't even like have that strong of like an affinity for her. Like in fact sometimes I watch only Murders in the Building and I'm like, something's going on with her and I hope she's okay. I feel about her sometimes, but which is kind of like really fun. It makes it funny that I had a dream that we met and like fell in love. I feel like we were in like a sprinter van, like one of those vans that they like ferry you like to like events when you're like wearing a big gown or something.
B
Yeah, yeah.
A
I feel like the whole time I was like trying to have more alone time with her and stuff like that and like people kept like interrupting or whatever because she's obviously incredibly famous. She has a business to run, she has projects to act in. Mind you. But I did have a dream that we met and we fell in love. Which was really funny because I don't have those feelings at all in my conscious life that like I think she's like beautiful and talented but I don't feel like she's someone that I see on screen or whatever. And I'm like, you and I would really hit it off. We certainly wouldn't fall in love. I don't know how much we would even have to talk about Selena Gomez. And I had a sit down.
B
Normally when you develop crushes on people, they don't normally look like Selena Gomez.
A
It doesn't have anything to do with how she looks. I'm just like vibe wise. I don't think we'd have much to talk about. I feel like when I have a crush on a celebrity I'm like, oh, they seem really like funny or something or maybe someone. I admire their work more usually something like that. And with Selena Gomez I of course I'm not trying to rile up any Selena Gomez dance. I think she's an incredible at everything she does. Like I just watched that. Have you seen the movie Sorry Baby? No, I haven't really good. Highly recommend it. But it's made by this person, Ava Victor, and she wrote it and directed it, and I'm like, oh, my God, I have a crush on her. The movie's so good. She's so good at acting. And I'm like, I want to make something like that. I feel like when I develop a crush on a celebrity or someone, I'm like, oh, they made something really good. And, of course, Lena Gomez has made very good things, but not stuff that I feel like I want to make something like that. But something inside me was just. Maybe this was honestly the time when I was watching Only Murders in the Building, and she just kind of pierced my subconscious. But something inside me was telling me that we would be a great pair.
B
But you know what? I'm just gonna say you might be a great pair. And let me tell you about a few of the reasons why I actually really like Selena Gomez.
A
Please.
B
So one of them is I have such a warm feeling in my heart for anybody who is legit rags to riches, somebody who was not a nepo bab, somebody who didn't come up into the industry because their dad bought them an $8 million music contract or whatever it is, you know, And Selena Gomez is legit rags to riches person, and I love that. I find that so admirable and so rare in the entertainment industry, of course. And I also like that she takes professional risks. I think a lot of people wouldn't appear in both Princess Protection Program and Amelia Perez in their lifetime.
A
Very true. And you can say that. You can say that.
B
Confess. I like both of those movies. I know not everybody likes both those movies.
A
I definitely like both of those movies. No, I will say I don't think I liked Emilia Perez for the reasons that I was supposed to like it, but I laughed through the whole thing.
B
So did I. I thought it was rollicking.
A
I know. It was really funny.
B
Yeah. There were so many points where I was just like, oh, my God, this is too much. This is too much. Yeah.
A
I did recommend that movie to a lot of people. I was like, I wouldn't say it's good, but I would say you could watch it with your friends and have a really good time.
B
That's exactly what I did. Yeah. A friend invited me over and said, let's watch this, and we laughed our heads off.
A
I know.
B
All night. We had so much fun. And yes, again, Princess Protection Program worth watching, folks. Very good.
A
I know. Wait, I should rewatch that. You said that, and it, like, shot me back I was like, oh, my gosh, I need to watch that. I used to love that movie. Of course.
B
Yeah, let's see a princess have to live in the wild, essentially. Like in cowboy world.
A
Yes, please. I need it.
B
It's so good. So, yeah, those are a couple of reasons. I think Selena Gomez is great also. Just very pretty. Nice to look at.
A
Stunning, of course. Yeah.
B
Beautiful to look at. But also, like I said, taking those professional risks.
A
Yes.
B
Living that rags to riches dream. Working hard and. Yeah. So that's why I think maybe you two. Maybe maybe you would hit it off in real life.
A
Maybe. Maybe if, God forbid, her relationship and her beautiful marriage to Benny Blanco doesn't pan out, I can figure out a way to get connected to Selena Gomez.
B
Oh, my God. That's just giving me a flashback to the dream interpretation we did a while back, Sofia, where Benny Blanco was in the bathroom and I ran into him and he was really nice. Did you remember that?
A
I forgot that we're like symponico. We're on the same wavelength. We are dreaming within the same universe. For sure.
B
I think so.
A
Yeah.
B
And no shade to Benny. But Sophia, let's say Celaena falls for Sophia. I'm applauding that as well.
A
We're all. It could be a beautiful matrimony. Okay, well, Kristen, I think I'm a bit tuckered out from all the. All the dream talk I have. And now I have a lot to dream about my impending relationship with Selena.
B
Gomez and I'm gonna turn into. And maybe I'll have a part two to my dream and find out who the celebrity is.
A
Yes. We'll get to the bottom of it. Good night, Kristin.
B
Good night. So.
