I know we kind of sp. Spoke a little bit about it, but not fully, but. Oh, my gosh. And I have to share with all of you, our listeners, but Mateo meeting Santa. Okay, so it's the same Santa that our kids have been so fortunate, especially the boys, have met since age one. Right. But this was the first year where Mateo has really recognized Santa, has become aware of who Santa is, knows there's a naughty nice list now, and that if he's on the nice list, he can ask Santa for a gift. So he was just so excited to meet Santa. And I flew back early from Vegas, literally at the airport at 4:15 in the morning, which I thought was safe to be in Vegas at 4:50 in the morning. I thought it we it would be deserted. Everyone would probably still be partying. Which when I was walking through the casino with my luggage, people were leaving the club and everyone was looking at me weird for being in my big coat, and I'm having my suitcases, you know.

[Mateo]

Well, I mean, Kane Brown started his performance at 1:45am I'm sure people were walking out by.

[Nikki Bella]

Well, and Snoop was performing at a time around that. I mean, because remember, people were leaving George straight to head to Snoop. So it felt really weird just being in a full airport outfit, big coat, suitcases, going through the wind casino, and everyone's like, what is she doing? Like, whatever.

[Mateo]

I think we were used to it.

[Nikki Bella]

No, true, But I mean, it was just wild to see people in full club outfits coming out of the club or just, you know, gambling. It was like as if it was 6pm or 8pm or 9pm same amount of people.

[Mateo]

There's a couple times in our 20s, I think at 4am we were still fully here.

[Nikki Bella]

Blackjack.

[Mateo]

Do you know what I mean?

[Nikki Bella]

No, totally. But so I thought going to the airport, it was gonna be fine. Like, you Know, Woke up at 3:45 and I got ready early.

[Mateo]

They always say the 6am flights are the busiest.

[Nikki Bella]

Okay, but I did not think Vegas, but how about this? Yeah. And when it is Vegas, half the people are sober and half the people are wasted.

[Mateo]

I think what people think is, why get a hotel room party and then just go to your flight. So to save money, I thought one.

[Nikki Bella]

Guy, I'm like, there's no way he's going to be allowed through. Like, he reeked of alcohol, he couldn't, he could barely stand and his wife kept going. Give me two good minutes. Two good minutes.

[Mateo]

That's what I say to buddy all the time. Two minutes, right? Just two.

[Nikki Bella]

Two minutes. But anyways, made it through flight on time, landed early, was able to get a coffee before and get ready in my holiday outfit that you and mom dragged me for. Which, by the way, I can't wait to talk about it because got a lot of compliments.

[Mateo]

I actually will say. She sent us a picture. As you know, tensions were very high when I talked about this outfit.

[Nikki Bella]

I was very upset.

[Brie Bella]

I thought she was going to get.

[Mateo]

On a flight and leave. Thought about it, but it was very cute. I will, I will definitely be borrowing it.

[Nikki Bella]

I knew you would love it.

[Brie Bella]

New girl.

[Nikki Bella]

It's so cute. Mato even loved it and commented. So when your 4 year old son comments on your outfit, you're like, it was worth the money, honey. So I go and get Mateo and it's cute because I put him in his holiday outfit. And so we go and we go to the holiday party and I was just like really proud of myself. Like, you know, I was great in Vegas. Didn't get crazy, woke up early, made the flight, felt good. I got, I mean, think I got five or six hours.

[Mateo]

Yeah, we definitely. Yeah, you do. You definitely got five and a half hours of solid sleep.

[Nikki Bella]

So I felt great, I got my coffee and you know when it's one of those days when everything works out perfect, like time of things, no traffic, right? So we head to the holiday party and Mateo just looks so cute. And of course the first thing we go do is he wants to go see Santa. And first he's like peeking and then he's like, mommy, Mommy, Santa. And it was just so cute. And at first he was like shy going over and then he ran up to him and then Santa was like, well, what do you want for Christmas? And Mateo goes, I just want a Merry Christmas.

[Mateo]

Oh, I love it.

[Nikki Bella]

Santa literally melted. He was like. Because you could tell, you go I kind of wish he did, but at first, he looked shocked, like he couldn't believe it. And he goes, oh, my God.

[Mateo]

Gosh.

[Nikki Bella]

Like, it was like the real person came out in him. Like, he just, like, couldn't believe that.

[Mateo]

Wow, that's great.

[Nikki Bella]

Yeah. Like, exactly. You could just tell he got super touched.

[Mateo]

Yeah.

[Nikki Bella]

And I was like, oh. And it was really cute. And then Mateo was a little afraid to get by him, but then he was great, and it was just the cutest thing, and it melted my heart. It made me want to cry, and I just was. It was really cute. He got a little gift from Santa. You know, they were giving toys.

[Mateo]

Yeah.

[Nikki Bella]

I saw Birdie and Buddy and Brian were there, and it was a lot of fun. And so. So. And Mateo, at this holiday party, kept wanting to write letters to Santa. And he would put it, because they had it, you know, the box for all the kids. And he. They put it, and he'd peek at Santa like, I got you a letter. And then Santa came over when he was putting the letter in, and Mateo was like, like, what do I do now? And then Santa had a little chat with him, and it was cute because even though Bri wasn't there, but our three kids, Brian and I got them all together.

And they got their Santa pit.

[Nikki Bella]

They got their Santa pit. Cause I was like, brian, can we just make sure do the Santa pic? Because Birdie, you know, was at the bracelet table for a very long time.

[Mateo]

Of course, just patiently, slowly making her bracelet.

[Nikki Bella]

She's just so creative. And so the. A lot of the girls were picking the really pretty reindeer stuffed animal from Sienna. He had, like, different choices. And she went over there, and she literally was making cuffs for her reindeer and a necklace. So cute. So then I saw other girls doing it.

[Brie Bella]

Yeah.

[Nikki Bella]

Because they were like, oh, my gosh, it's so cute.

[Brie Bella]

Yeah.

[Nikki Bella]

So that was Birdie, but Brian. And I love it because I was like, Brian, you know, whenever he goes, yeah, you know, when Birdie's done. Because, like, you know, so I knew. I'm like, hopefully before soon they'll be done. Because I didn't know, but it was just so magical. We were literally some of the last people to leave. Like, Bri, Everyone was gone, Espe, except for us and the Waynes and a few others. Mato just didn't want to leave.

Well, it's like walking into a snow globe.

[Nikki Bella]

It's like, I was bummed to miss.

[Mateo]

The party, but also, like, you know, I had some fun things for myself. I had, like, bad Mom's Christmas over here.

[Nikki Bella]

Yeah, she read them.

[Mateo]

I had fun, but it was funny. But Brian's like, you didn't tell me it's a dress up. And I'm like, it's not, like, dressed up. But he felt very underdressed. I told you, remember?

[Nikki Bella]

That was me last year.

[Mateo]

You were very underdressed last year. And I always dress nice when I go to stuff like that. But I mean, was. I didn't even ask him. What was he wearing? Did he look underdressed?

[Nikki Bella]

Like, just what Brian always wears.

[Mateo]

So he's in, like, Lululemon pants. I think a Lululemon shirt.

[Nikki Bella]

Or not a. But I think just nice shirt. Long sleeve. Like, well, like, with the hoodie type.

[Mateo]

Those ones. Yeah.

[Nikki Bella]

But Birdie was like a Christmas star.

[Mateo]

Oh, yeah.

She was dressed to the nines.

You know it.

I mean, from head to toe.

Head to toe. We were yesterday grabbing Alexia, our younger half sister, a Christmas. A Christmas gift. And, you know, we're looking for some sunglasses, like a cute sweater. And Birdie sees this purse. Now, this purse is. This is a woman's shop. This is not for children. She goes, can we get this? And I said, nope. And I'm like, you can put it on your Christmas list. She's like, but I think this purse would go with all of my outfits for the holiday season.

She's the best.

[Mateo]

And I go, because it was black velvet, you guys, with the. A crystal bow. And like, something like I would. Or Nicole, you would wear.

[Nikki Bella]

Okay, like, that's what I was just gonna say. You can't deny. And anyone who's been on our journey with. Oh, goodness, total divas and total Bellas, you all know that. Like, you saw how close Birdie and I were. And Birdie and I traveled together for years. Her first beginning years. You can't deny that. I didn't rub off on her.

You did.

So I went, brian so badly. Didn't want that kind. Like, don't make her like purses. And don't make her like these things. And I just love my girls.

[Mateo]

Like, well, she goes. So I was like, it was 85. And I go, 1. I'm not buying you anything. We're here to get Alexia a present. And two Christmas around the corner. So put it on your list and maybe you will get that. Who knows? And she goes, well, I have money in my piggy bank. And I go, well. And she does have, like, 120. I go, well, we'll just have to go home and count. She goes, I have a thousand Dollars in my piggy bank. I go, no, you have a thousand pennies. Because Brian's sister, center one time. A thousand pennies. Long story, another episode. We'll talk about that. And so we got home, and then she's like, well, Nana gave me a hundred dollars. And I go, but we made a deal that with that hundred dollars, we're gonna go get gifts for kids, and we're doing the turkey drive, and we're gonna go spread, you know?

Yeah. Which I love that idea that, Yeah, I want to do that with me.

[Mateo]

And she goes, oh, that's right. I go, bird, you are not contemplating helping people because you want that purse. She goes, no, no. You know, I was just trying to think about what's in my pig.

[Nikki Bella]

Maybe I'll recycle a purse and give it to her like, one of my nice ones.

[Mateo]

No, she doesn't. Why?

[Nikki Bella]

It's recycling. You guys are for recycling. Anyways, reuse sister.

[Mateo]

We get home, and I see her counting in her piggy bank. So this morning, she's literally like, you know, I do have enough money to get that purse. And I'm like, you. I was hoping you would sleep on it and realize.

[Nikki Bella]

But she did. I'm happy she slept on it and.

[Mateo]

And still wants it.

[Nikki Bella]

Which one is it?

[Mateo]

It's a little black velvet purse with, like, a little handle.

[Nikki Bella]

Black velvet. She's right.

It does go crystal bow, but it's 85. And I'm like, you kind of want that. No, it's. You would love it.

Did they have two?

[Mateo]

Probably.

Well, maybe this. Look, maybe I'll buy it for myself, and then Birdie and I could share it. So when I do a few parties this season, which I guess I have two weeks left of it, I'll take it to my parties, and she could take it to hers.

Don't give my daughter bad habits.

No, but that's actually such a great. That's teaching her, like, look, actually, I.

[Mateo]

But, you know, you're gonna get a stink guy if you walk in the house and you're carrying that purse.

I kind of want to do it just to see what she says.

When Brian and I travel, we have a huge checklist of the things that we love.

And for the holidays, we are looking to travel with our family and extended family. A lot of cousins, let me tell you. Because we aren't a one size fits all style of a family, and that's what I love. I think Santa told him that. Well, he did. Yeah. Oh, he told me he was on the naughty list.

Oh, good, because Elf on the Shelf, which ours is Chocolate Sprinkle, he was, like, being mean, and I said, chocolate sprinkled. Just saw you be mean. And he's gonna tell Santa Knight. And he goes, yeah. And then pushed Birdie. And he goes, tell him.

Tell him.

And then he gets emotional, and then, like, runs away. And Birdie was like. And I'm like, you got to be kidding me. That this Elf in the shelf is not good bribery for me with Buddy.

No, he can tell you that it was fake the first.

Yeah. He goes, it looks like a toy. I'm like, well, you saw the show. He becomes real at night and flies to the North Pole and talks to Santa, and he's talking about you.

[Nikki Bella]

Oh, yeah.

[Mateo]

I'm just like, Even this morning, I. I can't even Say anymore. Look at chocolate sprinkles watching. Because he doesn't care.

[Nikki Bella]

Yeah. Isn't that wild?

[Mateo]

Yeah. But he told Santa. Santa goes, what do you want for Christmas? And he goes, american Boy doll. And it was so funny because I'm like, please get it for him. I mean, he said it for weeks.

Bree sent me the screenshot of what she might get him, the American Boy doll. And I'm like, please. I think then Mateo pricey it. And then Mateo asked me for one.

[Mateo]

Well, I was like. And, you know, it's because Birdie has her American Girl doll, and Buddy's not a lot allowed to touch Blossom. That's her American Girl not allowed to touch. So he's always staring at her plane, and she's like, hi, Buddy. What do you. Do you want to do a tea party? Like all this? But, like, he'll get close touch. And she, like, don't touch Blossom, like, gets real serious. So I think it's like being the little brother wanting to play, but no American Boy dolls on his way to the house.

[Nikki Bella]

Well, you know. You know, and I got.

[Mateo]

And I got him a camper. Oh, and a couple change of clothes.

But you know what? Let him have it.

Yeah. Brian goes, what about the wrestling, Buddy? And he's showing him, like, the wrestling buddies. And he goes, no, American Boy doll.

I love it.

Now he gets to join in on the tea parties.

Yeah, but, you know, those arms are probably gonna be ripped off.

Good. Then they can all play. Because they just sit and play. And you know what?

But you know what? I think it's good. Good for boys. And they kind of get that nurturing side of them need.

Jeez. What you should do is get. When the American Boy doll comes in, you should put it next Elf on the shelf. And anywhere elf on the shelf goes, you put the American Boy down. Be like, you only get this if you're on the nice list.

Well, I see people get super creative. I'm not into being creative with the elf on the shelf, but I might. I might need to do something.

Or you can hang Elf on the shelf door. When he wakes up, he's, like, hanging.

I actually kind of wish the elf had toes and fingers. They don't. They're just kind of like soft, little, like.

Yeah, but you know what I mean. Like, so I could, you know, flip your kids off. Well, no, I guess not that, but like, maybe, like, you know, hold thing. Yeah. I mean, he can't even hold things. I guess if he goes like this, like. I don't know. Anyway, I'm going to figure something out. I'm going to get figure something out to really shook buddy that he's going to get coal for Christmas.

Brian's like, bri, you keep threatening it, you better do it. I'm like, I can't give my kid coal.

So, Nicole, what's your first Christmas memory? Like, what's the. The earliest thing you can remember about Christmas?

Okay, so I can't remember if I talked about this last year or one of the years, but I remember we were in second grade, JJ was in kindergarten, and we're living in Brawley B town. What up, by the way? Oh, we didn't even talk about Brawley.

[Mateo]

Yes, we did.

[Nikki Bella]

Oh, you're right.

[Mateo]

Yeah, you were like two wines in. Okay.

[Nikki Bella]

Aperol spritz And I don't really drink anymore, so it gets me. So we are in B town and Did I. I think I woke you and J.J. up, or we just all woke up together. But my first Christmas memory would be that age. And I feel like I still remember it as if it was yesterday, which is crazy because we were in second grade. But I swear, Santa and the radar, they were on the roof. And we were so convinced of it. I remember us sneaking in the kitchen. We're like, oh, my gosh, we could hear them. They're up there.

[Mateo]

Yeah.

[Nikki Bella]

And like, it's just crazy to me that all three of our imaginations together, like, we were convinced that we were hearing hooves on the roof for sure.

[Mateo]

And I felt like I heard it. Bells. Yeah, bells. Like the reindeer bells?

Like, totally.

And it's crazy because that solidified that Santa was real 100, that whole experience.

[Nikki Bella]

We believe we believed in Santa for a very long time.

And if any kid at school tried to tell me different, I'm like, French.

That's my earliest.

And it was actually, to be honest, how magical. It was magical.

And it was like you, JJ and I so remember our faces looking at each other like.

I hope it for Mateo and for your kids, too. I hope that we get to keep the magic alive for them for a long time. Because this year's always already has been so special. And so I hope it goes to second or third grade, too.

I agree. And you know, it's. I have this Christmas picture in my kids bathroom that says, May you always look up at the sky on Christmas Eve. Or something like that.

Yeah.

It's so cute. It's like simple, but yet that has so much meaning.

Like looking for Santa.

I love it. Okay, so what's your favorite Christmas?

[Nikki Bella]

Ooh.

Ever, ever. And all 40.

All right, I got it. So I won't have a specific year, but it would definitely be Christmas and Brawley with Nana and Pop Pop. So the Christmas is when we would go to Brawley on our two week break and we'd do the drummer boy dinner and have Christmas with Nana and Pop Pop. I feel like that happened a few times where we got to wake up in the morning and open up gifts with them. And those were my favorite Christmases ever. Like, I feel like I could still smell the smell of Nana's House and of, like, the pasta, but also of, like, pine and cranberry and all the holiday smells. And it just always felt so safe and magical and beautiful and loving and warm and just every feel you wanted from Christmas, that everything was just amazing and perfect. And then, you know, we had Nana Pop up, who we just loved so much. And so those. That would be the best Christmases ever. And then to have the drummer boy and have the smells of Brawley and all the cousins around. Like, all of our cousins were around us and our aunts and uncles and how we'd all walk and go do things. And at that time, too, we had so many friends because we grew up there. And so then it was like that time of year we go back and, you know, we play with all our friends as well. Those were the best, for sure. The best. I still. Every time we go back to Brawley and I get that smell again, it takes me straight back to that time period.

[Mateo]

Oh, I agree. You know, it's funny because you say all that and I'm like, ooh, I. That. That has to be, like, my favorite Christmas memory and time, like, of. Yeah, because I'm one of those, like, do I like a simple holiday? Yeah, that sounds nice. And I just experienced that Thanksgiving, but I'm more of the chaotic person. I like a lot of family. I like laughter. I like, you know, you're a little stressed because you're like, you need something. You need something, like. And food, like, is there, and coffee and the yummy yums. All of it. Like, for me, like, that's like a Christmas day. I love. Like, and then, like, you're kind of a little tired, but, like, everyone, let's go outside. And at times with our cousin, we play football or go kick a soccer ball around or go on, like, a big power walk. Like, I. For me, I need a little chaos and then, like, a little relaxation and then, like, an activity. Like, that's a perfect Christmas day for me.

[Nikki Bella]

Perfect. Like having everyone back in Brawling, all of us being together. And it made me sad that we couldn't finish the weekend there to see everyone's videos the night after, and then everyone watching the Eagles game together. But those truly were the best memories. Being there and when we were there with everyone for drummer boy, just, you know, on that Friday was like, this is the feeling that I love about the holidays. Me, too. These are my people in this town. And just being able to walk to different places or everyone being across street, like, that compound feel of a family. Yeah, that is the perfect Christmas for me. No one's really driving. We're all walking. We get to relax together. We watch football together. Like, we're all the same in our ways, and. And we just eat and have fun and laugh and then watching all the kids play. And, you know, I think, too, when you live in a small town and you don't have a lot of things around, like parks and stuff, so everyone had, like, fun kid backyards, and, you know, it's just. That's perfect.

[Mateo]

It was good.

[Nikki Bella]

I love it.

It was good. Next year it's going to be Texas.

The more the merrier. Is truly, like, for real during Christmas. Yeah. Or the holiday.

That feels like Christmas. And the one thing that I miss that we've kind of lost the tradition of Christmas Day having tamales and watching football.

On Christmas morning for us, which is cinnamon rolls and then a Dutch baby.

Yeah. So. But I mean, like, during the.

So I. We feel like he feels his tradition, which. Because we do Christmas Eve, we always do the Italian dinner.

Like, for. So I. I like that I get to see him light up on Christmas with his. And then football. And. You know what's becoming fun is Buddy starting to like to watch football. Birdie does not. She's like, I just don't like this. But Buddy's, like, really liking watching. Even though he'll laugh at some parts. I'm like, I don't know. That was a really hard tackle. I don't know if that's funny, but he loves it.

Between that and wrestling.

That's what. I'll get him to sit down and really watch. So I do. I agree. But tamales, I don't miss.

Even when we were in Phoenix, remember the people at his work and he would. I just. I love homemade tamales. They just. I had a couple in the field. They remind me of Christmas.

No, but what I do love about our family is we know how to let loose and have fun and just be goofy and funny and entertaining and that's. That's fun. Yeah, I like that.

The one thing I have to say I love about our family is we are literally the most non judgmental people ever.

Yeah.

Ever.

Because the older I've become, I can't believe how judgy people are. And I love the fact that no one in our family is judgy. Yeah, they are the most open minded. Like, you know, like it. Nothing shocks us because. Because we're usually the people who shock people, I guess. Honestly, nothing shocks us. We're just like very.

[Nikki Bella]

Yeah.

[Mateo]

Non judgy.

[Nikki Bella]

What I love is we're just all ready to have a good time. And so that's like, it's fun to have. Like, you could always. We could always depend on our family. Like, hey, do you want to go watch this football game? Or hey, what are you doing? You want to go. You want to go hike or. You know what I mean? Or like jj, you could call him go. Hey, I want to go play like a round of golf or basketball, like shoot some hoops. And he'll be there and harpy and go pickleball. Pickleball obsessed. So I just love that we're always down to go have fun together. Whether that's being active, watching sports, going to a concert, getting the kids together, going into the zoo, whatever it may be. We're always just down to go have some fun. And it's always fun and funny for sure. So I love it. I love that.

And then last question, which I feel like is a very important one. Oh, what's your favorite Christmas song? Oh, my gosh, I know mine.

So, because I know the title's like.

Christmas canon, which obviously we know Bing Crosby, drummer boy is, you know, up there. Yeah.

But no, like Christmas canon D. I forget what symphony sings it, but it's like, really known for, like, Home Alone, but somewhere in the.

Oh, from home alone.

[Mateo]

Yeah, but I mean, it's, you know, like, that's where people would know from.

But yeah, that I'm. You guys.

I played a lot. I at least hear it once a day. There is something about that song that brings. Makes my eyes watery all the time. The kids even know when it comes.

On, they kind of look at me.

And they're like waiting to see my eyes get watery. That song gets me. Yeah, it makes me. I don't know what it is.

But I hear it and I'm just feeling filled up with every beautiful holiday spirit, holiday memory I've ever had. Like, everything I love that rushes through my body.

And I love the instrumental or the vocal version. But even the other night, Mateo was like, I should have had him in bed even earlier.

I had him at earlier than his bedtime, but I wanted to do extra early. Remember I told you those two nights he was tired and. And he started crying, get upset, and I could tell he was over tired, and he was like, I need the Charlie Brown Christmas song. And sure enough, I put it on. He gets calm and he goes to sleep. So that one would be. That's one of my favorite favorite. And then I need.

Well, but Nat King Cole's Christmas song. I mean, Nat King Cole's whole Christmas album, like Otan Bon and how he sings everything, but when he sings that Christmas song, it makes me feel like Christmas is here.

Yeah.

There's no one like Nat King Cole. I'm sorry. No one who's ever walked this earth sings like Nat King Cole. There are people that are very close, like Bing Crosby and Sinatra and some others. Well, for me, you know, me, Nat King Cole and added James, Ella Fitzgerald.

Oh, yeah.

[Nikki Bella]

Nat King Cole and Ella Fitzgerald are my two top. There's for a female voice, no one top touches Ella Fitzgerald.

No. Like, she actually might be the top.

Right. Etta, James and, you know, Billie Holiday and those women come close, but Ella Fitzgerald is.

She's the one. And Nat King Cole. Those two. And I always think of pop up like Christmas time, right? We come in and he'd be playing Nat King Cole. Sit in his chair.

When Brian and I travel, we have a huge checklist of the things that we love. And for the holidays, we are looking to travel with our family and extended family, a lot of cousins, let me tell you, because we aren't a one size fits all style of a family.
