Merry Christmas and welcome to Pt. 2 of The Nikki & Brie Show's Family Tasting Special! We pick up with more laughs, wine, and holiday vibes as Brie welcomes her brother JJ to the pod, just in time to sample Bonita Bonita's 2024 Pinot Noir. The sibling banter is real as they relive a recent Monday together in L.A. where they cheered on opposite teams at the Eagles vs. Chargers game. The two also share warm family moments and reflect on what they want most this Christmas—spoiler: it involves trucks, kids, and keeping the holiday spirit alive. Then it’s time for Sibling Superlatives—a hilarious game where the duo calls out each other for who’s most likely to tattle to Mom, steal clothes, sneak out, or cancel last-minute plans (hi Nikki!). Brie then reunites with Bryan for one final tasting: the 2024 Bonita Bonita Red Blend. In between sips, they talk books, parenting, and Brie even challenges JJ to a round of Bella Brains trivia. Who gets the bragging rights? This episode wraps wi...

A
Welcome back, everyone, to part two of our wine tasting family episode. I need to save the rowdiest sibling for the rowdiest wine, which, coming up is our 2024 Pinot Noir paired perfectly with. With my brother JJ.
B
I'd like to apologize in advance. Here we go.
A
You know, I love it because I feel like our pinot noir is like one of the rock stars in the tasting room. You know, it's always one that we sell fast, but it's. I. I honestly feel like when you. I know all of you know this Pinot noir, but it's one of my favorite because you really notice that those dark cherry notes in there mixed with a little chocolate. I get a, you know, you get a little strawberry, but it's nothing like too sweet, silky smooth finish, which is always what Nikki and I like. And it smells so good. Well, look at that, Jay. I picked the crowd pleaser wine for hopefully the crowd pleaser.
B
Right? You're. I mean, your favorite with your favorite sibling. Please. Thank you so much.
A
What are you drinking right now? Do you want to top it?
B
That's. No, it's. Oh, you're paying her time and a half, right? It's her birthday.
A
I am.
B
Got here on her birthday. She better be getting, like, some money.
A
Actually, you know what birthdays, jj, Emily's.
B
Like, I'll get you more.
A
I see what JJ did there. I see what he did. You know, I actually agree. Birthdays should be holidays. You should definitely like if it's your birthday. What?
B
Yeah, yeah. Everyone but your son.
A
Where, Mom?
B
At jbn.
A
Oh, at jbn.
B
Yeah. Everyone but her son.
A
No. Oh, mom, you make JJ work on his birthday.
B
Yes. You gotta. Well, you're like.
A
Well, she's like, you can celebrate the next day.
B
Yeah. She's like, oh, it's on a Monday. We have a meeting. I'm like, oh. I'm like, oh, my Kristen isn't working, but here we go.
A
Mom, that's actually great that you do that.
B
What?
A
Well, not to you.
B
Oh, yeah.
A
Emily. Next year, I promise.
B
Yeah. As Emily's, like, running around, Emily's like.
A
Emily's like, oh, you bring it up now.
B
Yeah. She's like, is there a job opening at jbn?
A
No. Then mom and I would really fight. But I do think that birthdays should be a holiday.
B
I agree.
A
We. I. I don't. Why don't we do that? I mean, I take. Well, actually, plenty of times.
B
You might actually be the only company that doesn't do that. I think it's pretty much everywhere, really.
A
No, I've never heard that. Yeah. Yeah. Okay. Yeah. No, this is an addition. Oh, wow. You should be so grateful for who you work for. For.
B
Yeah, Actually, the only reason I work at JBN is because she gives birthdays off, but I don't get mine off. But I.
A
For everyone else, it's a huge perk.
B
Massive perk.
A
All right, well, I feel like my brother needs zero introduction, so. So, jj, welcome to the show.
B
Cheers. Shall we?
A
How do you like the Pinot? No.
B
That's very good.
A
That's good, right?
C
That's very good.
A
And then, like, in your most snobby wine way, what are the notes?
B
But you know what?
C
You know what?
B
The. I'm not. The only problem is that I probably drink too much too fast because it's just. That's smooth.
A
That's smooth, though, right? I know. And you know, Pinot Noir is one of those wines that can really go with so many different meals. No, I feel like anytime, especially now, it's holidays, you go, you're going to go. You always want to bring in bottle wine, right? To a party or a dinner. Pinot Noir to me is always like the winner.
B
And also, you all might think about call or something. But like a lunchtime red.
A
Oh, yeah, for sure.
B
That's like your lunchtime. Right? You know what I'm saying? Like at lunch, if you want a red, let's get this, like, for sure.
A
So JJ and I last week had a lot of fun. Never in a million years did I think I'd be sharing a hotel room with my brother. But we went to the Eagle game, and it was Eagle versus the Chargers, which you guys all know. We're crazy Eagle fans, but my brother has been a Charger fan forever.
B
I was raised one. I'm not anymore because I'm a San Diego Chargers fan. Yeah, no, la. Sorry, guys.
A
I mean, jj, can you show everyone what a big Charger fan you are? But did you also see what's on his forearm for Arsenal?
B
Oh, yeah, Soccer. That's soccer. But that's Arsenal. But still, that's the best sport in the world.
A
Do you guys know, after. Brian is probably so grateful that I didn't make this mistake, but after the Eagles won last year, the NFC Championship game, my cousin's like, let's get tattoos. And I'm like, oh, you should have done it. No, I was like, wait, I think we got to think about this. I'm like, how much I love tattoos. Like, I think that's a sober decision. We're all very excited. Excited. Maybe had a lot to drink. How much Pinot I've had, you know? But I. I mean, I just think, like, if I had maybe a couple more margaritas, I'd have been in the tattoo shop getting an Eagle on the side of my ribs.
B
I would have loved that for you.
A
We go to the Eagle game, and my mom, actually, her brother Bill, she was talking about who pushed her in the pool. He got us a suite at the. So what is it, Sophie?
C
Tail.
B
Well, five. Five crowns that. So Bill and Joe. Yeah.
A
Oh, yeah. So, you guys, I have not been in a suite there at that stadium. It was. It's unreal.
B
That's awesome.
A
I was just like.
B
We were blessed.
A
Blessed. And so. But it was a really hard game because it was like, Eagles lost. Played awful.
B
Right.
A
Chargers did good.
B
Yeah.
A
And. And jj, we did really bad. We did well.
B
The problems that. Because if they bet me that the Eagles are going to win. So once you put money on the line, I'm going to cheer a little harder in your face. My cousins did not give me hugs after was put it back. They were not happy with me because I could get a little loud and a little sassy.
A
But you want to know something funny is JJ was dancing really funny, and he made it on the Tron. And we're like, yeah, I made the Jumbotron. And then he started to get, like, all these text messages, like, whoa, are you at the Charger Eagle game? Because we think we saw you on the Tron and you're dancing like such a dad.
B
Such a dad. Like, I am a dad.
A
I Mean, No, I know, but it was just, like.
B
It's weird how that just kicks into you, how you just. You lose, like, your sexy dancing skills and just turn into, like, a nerd.
A
Such a nerd.
B
Such a nerd.
A
Like, you even had your tongue out. You're like.
B
Like, so, yeah, you all leave. You'll be running out.
A
Look at Mom's. Like, I thought it was cute. Like, of course you did. Yeah, but she's a woman, and it was your son.
B
No, but I could do no wrong.
A
Yeah, no, but it was so. It was. It was actually really fun. And then it was awesome because jj, I, you know, did an interview at the Sirius XM studios, and he's like, I want to go with you. And it was cool for you to, like, come to the studios, and you kind of got to see how the LA studios are.
B
And she. And she crushed it, by the way. You guys need to watch that. That's awesome. Yeah, she's super interesting. I forgot her name.
A
Amelia.
B
Yeah.
A
Retold recycling.
B
Like, yeah, she's awesome.
A
Yeah, she really is. But it was fun to, like, just have him tag along and be. You know.
B
And I had a blast.
A
Yeah.
B
Anytime you hang out my sister, it's awesome.
C
Yeah.
B
Because obviously she's here. I'm Phoenix.
A
So good. But we shared, like, a hotel room, and he was, like, snoring. I'm like, grab him up.
B
I'm a dad.
A
I, like, turned up the sound machine, like, really loud. I'm like, holy. No. Yeah, Just not the one I go to sleep to. I'm like, no, but your nose broke.
B
And you'll fix it.
A
No, I know. I know. Right? Well. Well, you know, what was funny is one time, my mom and I were taking a nap, and I actually hit the one where it was like, you're at a park and you remember. We're like, who's that dog barking? But it was part of the sandwich. It was like. And, like, people laughing, but we're in such a deep, like, sleep. And I'm like, what's happening outside? It was so funny. Oh, my gosh. Well, jj, it's the holidays, and before we play a little game. Y. What is it that you're wanting Santa to bring you?
B
What? I want Santa to bring me?
A
Yes. Mom said you don't believe you don't get a gift.
B
True. Actually, I need to go visit him before I leave.
A
What?
B
I want Santa to bring me. That's weird, because I'm in the place where I have single dad to. I just think about what they need.
A
Man.
B
I don't know. I haven't even thought about that. I'll tell you the truth. And that's.
A
There's like nothing.
B
Okay, sure. A Ford Raptor.
A
There you go.
B
Going out there. We're doing it.
A
You know what I mean? That's fine.
B
It's just a hundred thousand dollar truck.
A
But. But Santa.
B
But Santa, Because I've been good Santa. I'll come see you down the street and we'll talk about it.
A
You never know.
B
No, if. If anything, just make my kids happy and that's all I care about.
A
Yeah, I agree.
B
Cuz that gives me so much happiness. Right? That's the best thing in the world, so. But. Or a truck, whatever. Doesn't matter.
A
Yeah, well, like we.
B
Their happiness. Or a truck, whatever. Like they are with their mom half the time, so. Good. And.
A
So as we've talked about on this episode. Episode that siblings do fight. They fight. And we have gotten into our little tiffs and all of that. So I thought the game that we could play is sibling superlatives. So the best ever is we have to tell everyone. When I said we were going to play this earlier. So JJ goes, I'll read off some superlatives and you let me know which sibling. Me, you, or Nikki. It fits best. But the best ever is JJ Earlier I'm like, oh, this is what we're gonna play. And he goes, what's that? And I'm like, brian, what's that?
B
Literally happened.
A
Yeah, like, yeah, he had to go through it. And I was like, no one ever taught me that.
B
Yeah. Don't throw big words at me. Yeah.
A
All right. But you get it, right?
B
I think so.
A
I'm gonna tell you something and you say, oh, that's you.
B
We'll make it work. Yeah, I got you.
A
Nikki or me.
B
Okay.
A
Most likely to have tattled to mom first.
B
Nicole. I mean, you have to finish that. She was a mom.
A
She was.
B
Oh my gosh. We ike you on tangents for.
A
Yeah, a big one is so we're so in high school, we stole this keg from this party and we're like, oh, mom's out of town. We'll take it back to our house. And we were obviously with friends, so me and Brie and I like walking in like the Basham brothers. Like, hey, there was like a group of us. It was just like, you know, fun high school stuff you did. And it was our rival high school. We did it too. So we come, we're all like super stoked, everyone. And then all Of a sudden, you see this huge cloud of darkness at, like, the sliding, sliding bus door.
B
Yeah.
A
And it's Nikki, and she's pointing like this on the glass, like, leaving marks.
B
Her fingertips on every person that's outside, counting.
A
And then the best ever is halfway through a count, she realizes her boyfriend's out there. So she's, like, counting, like, one, two.
B
Oh, my God. I was like, tj.
A
And, like, she's looking. She slid that glass door open so quick. And JJ and I were like, oh, TJ's. And TJ's like. And she's like, everyone out. Like, just. Everyone's like, dude, that's your sister. Right? I'm like, oh, my gosh. Like, wild. She's like, how dare you do it to Mom. How dare you throw a party to mom's guy.
B
I'm like, I'm so sorry, guys. We're all in trouble.
A
Yeah. We literally had to go. We went to the park or something.
B
We went to CH Park.
A
Oh, what in the world? My kids will never.
B
Well, that's why you're lucky. Have Brian, because they probably won't.
A
Brian's like, mike, it's better not. Okay. Most likely to start a sibling fight.
B
Nicole.
A
Nicole.
B
I don't know.
A
Like, hands down. I know.
B
Hey, you got to be here to defend yourself, all right? That's her fault. Okay.
A
I kind of feel like poor JJ and Brie. Okay.
B
I'd say y' all to grow up with her. Okay, hold on.
A
Yeah. All right. Most likely to break something and pretend it wasn't them. Oh, I feel like you.
B
That might be me for sure. Yeah, well, we'll visit. We're telling dad for sure. Mom. I go tell, because mom might have my back.
A
Yeah, but for sure, that'd be you.
B
That'd be me. Oh, yeah.
A
This one I'd be interested to know for most dramatic teenager Nicole. That's what I feel like. I hate to say Nicole again, but.
B
Nicole, she was wild.
A
Yeah.
B
And all, like. Yeah. Like, the whole spectrum. She's just crazy. And I love you, Nicole, but, you know, you were crazy.
A
She knows. Okay, number five, Most likely to steal the other's clothes. Oh, that'd be me.
B
I thought those for me to answer.
A
But, oh, yeah, for you, I guess.
B
It's Brian, everyone. I think it's Brie.
A
Dummy. No, I mean, because, I mean, I'm.
B
Not selling your ass's clothes, so, yeah, if anything, you would have forced me to put your clothes on to make embarrass me, but for sure.
A
All right, next one. Most likely to snap. Sneak out past curfew. That's for sure. Well, you.
B
I'd say. I was gonna say here. So. I say all three. I don't know. I think that's a tie.
A
I'm gonna be attack. Well, I don't know. Not Nicole, actually.
B
True.
C
You are.
A
Nicole was a. I mean, follower.
C
I put that.
B
That night that 96 Nissan Sentra got put in neutral a couple times I pushed out the driveway and you know. You know you leave the window cracked because they had the thing where it beep when it open. So you leave the crack before mom set the alarm, slide that thing open, push the center out, be back at.
A
5Am that's so crazy. Yeah. Honestly.
B
Oh, she knows that, believe me.
A
Yeah. I never did that. I actually think I snuck out one time.
B
It's not called all time. I loved it.
A
Yeah. I didn't like it.
B
Yeah.
A
I felt it's a rush. Yeah. I don't know. I didn't dig it. All right, so next. Most likely to cancel plans last minute. Well.
B
Nicole, damn. I should just FaceTime right now. But hey, this is about you.
A
Honestly. Okay, next one. Most likely to give the best life advice.
C
None of us.
A
He's like. Can I say my brother?
B
Oh, yeah, Brian. Actually, if it was, it'd be Brie for sure. Without. Yeah, because you know why? She's the most honest. I'll tell you that.
A
I am.
B
She'll tell you. She'll tell straightforward. Whether you want to hear it or not.
A
It's true.
B
Which I love. It's the best.
A
All right, next one. Most likely to disappear at a party without saying goodbye. We love an Irish exit.
B
I mean, I'm famous for them, like, but, like, I don't know. I've only been so many parts with you girls. Probably me, I. I just.
A
I do. I. Because Brian, it drives him crazy how I, like, will say goodbye and it takes us like 30 minutes to leave.
B
Yeah. I just dip and they have a problem with the next day. It is what it is.
A
Yeah.
B
We're not really friends.
A
Nikki. Life can get really busy. Really busy. I mean, I would say it's been busy for all of us. I know. And sometimes we just need to take a breather, sit down and ask ourselves one very important question. What's that, Bri? Have you had your Hershey's? I sure have had my Hershey's Brie.
C
And you know what?
A

But it's just such a sweet moment that I find myself always reaching for a Hershey bar. Always. I mean, we love making s' mores in my family. That's all I have for you. Do you have Actually, so what? Cuz when V knew you're coming Here, V and Alice. She's like, you better bring us that. So you have any cute stories about V and Alice you can tell us? Actually, you got to tell everyone about V. How she's such a huge wrestling fan.
B
Huge. So it's clearly so. Well, first off, it goes Brie and Nikki and then Uncle.
C
Or.
B
And then Brian. Uncle Brian and then Bailey. Bailey. But then. Oh, my gosh, thank you.
A
Oh, I forgot. She loves.
B
She's obsessed with Amy Zayn and, like, what a great person to love because she got to meet him. So amazing, and he's just, like, such a nice man. And, like. But so we. We're going to go. We're going. We went to the show Monday night run. I was like, hey, Coco. We call her Coco. I'm like, coco's. She's not coming anymore. She's like, well, do I still get to go? I'm like, you still want to go? She's like, please, dad. I'm like, let's go. And. And Nicole, such a blessing. She has front row, so I was super lucky to get that. And she just watches every move, and it's like, I want to get out now. She said the moves scare her, so now she wants to be an announcer, is her next move. She told me, okay, we could do that.
A
By the way, she'd be a great announcer, and you know it.
B
And it makes me feel better because I'm like, cool. I don't have to worry about visiting you in the hospital because every single person I've known that's been wrestling. Y' all been in the hospital. Y' all are crazy. But no, she's. She loves it. And I mean, obviously, she has great inspiration with her aunts and her uncle and. But she just truly, truly loves it like it is. I mean, you tell them. What'd she do?
A
Oh, I mean, she brought her title belts, you guys, today when I picked them up. And then she really was like, can I have an action figure, Uncle Brian? And, like, so we signed her title belts. It was so cute. She's such a huge fan.
C
Yeah.
B
And Alice, isn't that in it? And that's fine.
A
It's crazy because I. Alice is the wild one, but thank God her and Buddy. She's the only person in the world that puts Buddy in their place.
C
Yeah.
A
It's incredible. And Buddy listens to her.
B
Oh, yeah, they. They're. Oh, they're.
A
They're the cutest.
B
Two peeds in a pod, which I don't know if that's a good thing.
A
I Know, they're wild.
B
They're. Yeah, they're. The kids are amazing. Yeah, I'm. I. I am super blessed with two amazing kids. A great. Their mother's amazing. She's a great mom. So, yeah, super lucky. And that's awesome.
A
J. Well, I love that. Yeah. Well, we are on to our final wine, and we're going to bring Brian back on. Okay, so up next, we're going to have our 2024 red blend, and we're going to have Brian back on, which we're so excited. I'm absolutely obsessed with our red blend. You know, for a while we had our cabernet and we are bringing back. I mean, so we obviously have the Nikki and Brie cabernet, but we had our premium cabernet that sold out. And we are going to definitely bring it back. But sometimes Nikki and I. I don't know about you guys when you drink it, but I'd have one glass and I'm like, I'm buzzed. It was heavy, right? So Nikki and I, we started to realize we really leaned toward the red blends. And, you know, it's napa grapes and everything, because sometimes, you know, Napa full body cabernets can get you. But that's what I really love because I feel like the red blend is full, full body, like a cabernet, but it's not too heavy, which is how I like to drink my wine. All right, everyone, so we're coming up to our last segment of the show. Before we do, inspiration and affirmation. And this is the last wine that everyone will be tasting here in the tasting room, or 2024 red blend. And I knew I had to end the show with Brian. And the one thing that everyone always loves and will call in about and send us messages about is Brian's book club. Like, I can't believe how much you all love it. And I think it's because you read really great books. Hard for me to read, but so I thought, you know what, Like a red blend that's really bold, full body, silky and smooth. I can only imagine the books you're reading right now, Brian, but I imagine they're pretty bold and they're pretty full bodied. So we would love to hear what you're reading. And. And then I have a couple other things after that.
C
So for fiction, I'm reading right now, I'm reading Octavia Butler's Parable of the Talents. It's the second book in a series. She was supposed she was going to write a third one, but then she passed away, which is really sad. But. But anyways, it's. It's really incredible. I've been really enjoying that. That's my fiction book that I'm reading. And then the non fiction book that I'm reading is a really fascinating book by a guy named Robert McFarlane titled Is Our Rivers Alive or Is the River Alive? And he's almost arguing for personhood for rivers in the same way that we give corporations their. Legally, corporations are, are, have legal rights like a person. So yeah, it's really interesting, but it's, it's fascinating from a biological perspective.
A
Oh, I love that. You know, so do you. I mean.
C
Oh, I love that. That sounds great.
A
That's actually like a book I would read.
B
Okay.
A
Yeah, but this is why, because it blows me away. How we'll take natural resources. Corporations can take natural resources and profit money off them. And like right now with all the rivers, there's actually huge issues because we're using all these rivers to cool down AI systems. And there's rivers that are like, there's droughts happening for these centers. So that's actually a book I'd get behind because I'm like, okay, like, I would be interested to know legal rights or. Okay, why. I've always wondered this. Why are they allowed? Like, how do they all sit and just say they own it? Can I just go over there and say I own this? This is my bush.
C
Bri. Bri got really upset at me when I told her that I own the sun. And yes, I did. And so under. Under a very similar claim to, to. To when people say that they own RIP stuff.
A
So I feel like that book's up my alley. There's probably a lot of big words. Yeah, I'm like, we'll talk about it in 2026.
C
Actually, it would be interesting for me to give Bri books and you get an update every podcast on how far you've gotten from the book.
A
What was the book? Brian gave me this book because I'm like, let me see.
B
Book on Tape.
A
I like. Yeah, I like looked at the first page and I'm like, Brian, there's like 10 words. I don't even. Now I'm like, this is not my book. What book was that?
C
I don't. I don't know.
A
It was like a really well known one. I feel like a lot of people read like Homo sapiens or something.
C
What's. Oh, that one's Sapiens by Yval Noah Harari.
A
Was it that one? I like, open and I'm Like, I want to read this book, but I just don't know if I understand it.
C
Yeah, you've all know Harari, so I think he. It came out in. At the end of 2024, but I read it in 2025. My favorite book that I read this year was you've all know Harari's Nexus, which is about the history of information, which is really interesting. I can tell your view of it.
A
Yeah, I'll never forget. I was watching the show and I look over and he's reading a chemistry book. And I'm like, is that chemistry? And he's like, how lucky are we to teach our things or teach ourselves stuff or something? And I'm like, you're teaching yourself chemistry right now? I'm like, no, watching, like, Sex in the City.
C
And I'm like, it was. It was physics.
A
Oh, physics, whatever. I was like, blown away. And then when he made the point, like, how lucky are we to teach ourselves stuff? I'm like, well, yeah. I'm like, but if you knew what Carrie just taught me in this episode, it was actually funny. So today I wanted him to go pick out Emily a book for her birthday because Emily and Zach are huge readers and I always say them two. And you need to start a book club here in Bonita. Bonita. I think it'd be really fun. Once in one week, everyone came and met and could discuss whatever. You know, however book clubs go, I've never been a part of them, but I think if I'm, you know, I've seen it on a show before. I think you guys read a chapter and then discuss. Or maybe you read six chapters and discuss weekly. Is that how it goes? You don't read a book in the week, right? There usually is.
C
So I don't know. I've actually never done a book club. And so there's a book club, right. I think. I think they usually meet once a month, and I think you're expected to have read the whole book. Okay, well, if it's a month, yeah, you read the whole book and then you come in and discuss the book and parts of the book. That's my understanding. I've never actually participated in one.
A
Yeah. Okay. Well, you know, you and Emily actually. One thing I want to do is put, you know, have you guys seen those, like, wine library, like, books? And I want to put it out there and, like, do Brian's books. And I want him to put his books in there. And if anyone wants to come and attempt to read. Yes. That I was on Their website. So I keep saying. And you know, usually there are three levels. So I'm like, oh, I can do, like, Brian level, A Zach level, and Emily level. But so something funny today is I was like, you gotta pick Emily's book, because, you know, he knows what Emily likes. And I'm like, I just don't know that stuff. But he goes, to be fair.
C
Just so you guys know, I don't know what Emily likes, other than I know that she. She tends to read fiction. And so.
A
But Emily. So you have to hear. This is super funny. So Brian was, like, talking to lady who owns the bookstore about some books, and she's like, telling him, like, what kind of books?
C
There were a couple books, but they were. They were very, like, sex oriented. And I was like. And I was like, oh, I don't feel comfortable getting this for Emily. And then.
A
And I go, brian, but it's from all of us, so who cares?
C
Yeah, it just. It made me feel weird.
A
I know, but Emily, I told him he should have, because I'm like, it's from, like, the Danielsons. Who cares?
C
It's from Buddy.
A
Yeah. But instead. So he picks up something out for you that he feels you would like.
C
Yeah.
A
So I hope you do. I'm like, but it was so funny because he was telling me. And then I go, what kind of book? And he's like, well, totally, like, as if I can't read the book the lady recommended.
C
It was. It was literary fiction that also had a lot of sex scenes in it. But I. Bree would like the pure sex.
A
Yeah, but I go, it's not, like, too sci fi, right? Where it's like aliens doing it, Because I might not be into that, but, like, what are we talking about here?
C
What was the huge book that you loved? You know, the one that they made movies out of and all that kind of stuff.
A
Fifty Shades of Gray.
C
Yeah, she was. She was deep into 50 shades of gray and, like, hated the movies. I read the. I read a couple of the paragraphs of the prose while she was reading. I was like, oh, this is horrible writing.
A
Like, well, hey, I've read it, so it was good to me. Okay, Nikki, So the snow is here, the cold weather, and I think it's time that we start looking to go somewhere a little warm, maybe a little tropical white sand, beautiful beaches. What do you think? I agree. My body is not only craving a bikini, but desperately needs some vitamin D and maybe a Mai Tai on top of that. I say we go on Airbnb, start to put in all the things that we want out of a location, out of a house, and see where it ends us, where it puts us. And you know what, Bri? After all these months, we've all been spending a lot of money, whether it's on gifts, holidays, food, travels. So let's now make some money. It's time we earn that money back. So I don't know if you all know, but you can host your home on Airbnb, which obviously is the smartest way to make a little extra income, right? Oh, yeah. Or a lot. It depends. I mean, that's right, Nikki. You can put it towards future travel, home improvement, or that fun splurge item you've been eyeing. I love that. And you know, finding a little piece of home while you travel always makes a trip special. Your home could be that for someone else. Your home might be worth more than you think. C

A
Yeah, but I thought something that would be interesting because Brian picked Emily out. Her book today is if. If you had to pick out one of each of my family members a book, what would you pick out? So why don't you just start off with me?
C
Okay. I mean, that's really, really hard, picking out books for people. And also, I think for you, Siddhartha.
A
By What he say? What'd he say? A coloring book. I would love it. I'd be like, I scored.
C
I. I think you would really enjoy Siddhartha by Herman Hess. It's. It's really good. It's. It's like a. A Zen style, but it's fiction, so it's almost like. It's almost like the Alchemist she loves. She loves the Alchemist by Paula Coelho. So if you're talking about a book that you would.
A
And he's my style of a writer.
C
Read and enjoy. I. I think Siddhartha by Herman Hess would be. Would be really good for you.
A
Oh, good. I love that.
B
Okay.
A
What about my brother?
C
Short. Oh, my goodness. So I think. And again, I don't know what he would be into from that perspective.
A
Life for Dummies. You know, those dummy books.
C
No, but I've I've either like a History of America, which I think he Would really like would be these truths by Jill Leor or like a sports book and because I haven't read a lot a ton of sports book but one that I, that I loved is this Cowboys book on the, on the 90s Cowboys. No, but it's fascinating because it's like these guys like a guy like Michael Irvin, right. Who is just this incredible athlete and football player. He was taking private planes the night before with like coke and strippers and all this kind of stuff to, to the game and he could go still play the next, the next day like an all pro wide receiver. Like just unbelievable. But then once they had won two Super Bowls, other guys on the team were like well Michael Irvin's doing this, I can do this. But they're not Michael Irvin. So they would go on like the same plane as my. And they'd all be coke, strippers, all that kind of stuff. And then the Michael Irvin would still be playing like Michael Irvin and then these guys would be playing horribly. But it was like, it was a fascinating, it was just a fascinating book. I forget it's. Oh yeah, Lawrence. I mean but I mean there's so many good sports books that I think J.J. would really. Oh yeah, yeah.
A
Dwayne Johnson.
C
Yeah, yeah. So it's pretty.
A
I love that.
C
So but I, but I with how into soccer and stuff. Jj is it maybe something from. Maybe maybe something soccer wise?
A
Oh yeah. But you know, love that.
C
Yeah.
A
All right. What about Nikki?
C
I feel like hers I would be more like self help books. Right.
A
So she does like a good self help book.
C
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
A
And so that's usually the section she walks to.
C
Yeah, the you know, two, two things that I don't know if she would enjoy them but they would be interesting for her to read. Would be the Anxious generation, which is just a lot about cell phone use and all that kind of stuff. And then, and then Discipline is Destiny by Ryan Holiday I think would be. I don't know. But I, when I give people books, I don't, I don't want to offend them.
A
Right.
C
If you give somebody this book, right. You don't. It's not like hey, here's a judgment on you. You know, this is, you know, this is this thing. But yeah, a little bit.
A
But in a good way.
C
But, but, but, but so yes, but.
A
So I've judged your life and you as a person.
C
Well, but so, but I also know that if she's going to read a book so I, so I, you know, like how We. So yeah. So for Bri, I feel like if she's going to read a book Siddhartha, she would read for jj, it would be either sports or he loves kind of like politics type stuff or history or whatever it is. For Nicole, she loves self help books. So these would be the. Those would be the kind of things that I think would be. If she enjoys that sort of thing, that's what she would like. So. Yes. Yeah. Yeah.
A
Well, and then. Okay, so last one. My mom.
C
Probably a business book. Your mom and I actually Kathy has been really good because I was interested in. Remember that seed business.
A
Yeah.
C
That I, That I was interested in joining. And so I was very interested in. In business for a while and she was recommending me business books, so it would be hard.
A
She used to love like Four Hour Work Week.
C
Yeah.
A
The Power of Now.
C
Okay, so I didn't know about that. Well, I, I didn't know about the Four Hour Work Week, which is a good one. The Power of Now.
A
I think she recommended that. I read that. I love that one.
C
Which one? A Power of Now.
A
Power of Now. I read and the Four Hour Work Week.
C
I have a hard time with the Power of Now.
A
Why?
C
Okay, so, I mean, so this is, this is something that I have a really hard time with. So it's like, I love if you're going to do like a spiritual book, Right. The. Jack Kornfield has these great spiritual books, but Jack Kornfield went and trained in like a Buddhist monastery and he spent all these years and he's still working on it and all this kind of stuff. The Power of Now is written by a guy named Eckhart Tolle. And I don't know how you say his last name, but he was like, his life was horrible. And then he wakes up on a park bench and just has this epiphany. And now his life has changed. And it's not like, okay, what is the. What of. This is actionable for me. Like, that's not. Okay. I did this. This is a, this is a process. Like, it's a. Okay. I have to work hard to do this thing. And so if you just wake up one day and you've. You have this.
A
I kind of like that sometimes.
C
That's how it hits people sometimes. But I don't think when I read that book, it didn't seem. It didn't seem actionable to me.
A
So it wasn't for you, but for someone like me. I'm like, oh, I get it.
C
Yeah. But you would like to. You would Love to be sleeping and then wake up and be like, oh, just live in the now. But that's. But I think for 99% of people, that doesn't have happen. You have to. If you want to be present, if you want to be, if you want to be calmer, if you want to be a better listener, if you want to be all of these things, these are things that you just, you just don't have the realization like, I want to be a better listener. And then you wake up and you're a better listener. You have to actively work on being a better listener if you want to have more control over your attention. You don't just wake up one day and realize, okay, I need to stop looking at all these apps on my phone. You have to have actionable steps. And it's a gradual process. And so that's where I feel like giving your mom or anybody the power of now, it's. It's almost a disservice.
A
Yeah, I get it. So it was the book we came up with that you're gonna give my mom?
C
Oh, I, I mean, I would, I would, you know, I would say like, like a business book. You know, I, I would be interesting. It would be interesting to me to see what she would think of a book like the Psychology of Money by Morgan Housel or the Art of Spending Money. It's business ish, but more. But more money ish. But I mean, I don't think, because your mom reads business books, I don't think I would have this great business book to give her. Like, oh, you need to read this. This will really help you. She's given me books that were like, that one was essentialism, and then the other one, gosh, there was another one that she gave me that I forget the name of, but they were really good.
B
Yeah.
C
Especially for somebody who, who was new to business.
B
So. Yeah.

Before we get into inspiration affirmation, do you want to go against jj?
C
So were we doing that or were we doing you against jj?
A
But then you're gonna have to ask questions.
C
Yeah, I don't mind asking the questions.
A
You don't mind?
C
No.
A
All right, then. Jj, are you ready to play a little game called Bella Brains?
C
But. But hey. So because Bella, because people are here, and because Nicole was. Was not here, maybe we should let them choose who are going to be competing in this thing.
A
Okay.
C
Instead of. Instead of us. Instead of us deciding.
A
Okay. The siblings.
C
You want the siblings against each other. Okay.
A
Instead of me saying who's smarter, I feel like I should say who's dumber. I'm just kidding, Jay. We're street smarts. We're street smarts. Oh, gosh, I'm so nervous. I just feel like my brain hasn't worked great in a while.
C
She also doesn't get a lot of sleep. So before. Before we go any further, I just want to say what a great mom Bri is. But one of the things that. One of the things that. You know, our son gets up in the middle of the night regularly and comes in to sleep with her and makes it really hard. So she's had. She's on very little sleep. Both kids were sleeping in the bed with her. Birdie came in. Scared the crap out of her to remember. She screamed.
A
Can I tell you guys something? Okay. This is, like, funny. Well, it's weird and funny. So I've been reading up a lot on the. The whole situation with Joe Rainier. Is that how you say his name? And the. You know, it makes me so sad, the whole situation with the sun. So I was just telling Brian about it. He's like, don't talk about this right before you go to sleep. I'm like, you're right. So we turn off the lights, and I sleep. And I hear, like, little footsteps. I thought, but maybe in my head. And I look up and Birdie's, like, reaching, kind of like bitch standing. I. I screamed so loud because I.
C
Thought I broke my neck.
A
How I jerked, but it was like the way Birdie came in, she's Standing tall. I have not freaked out like that in forever. Because usually I know it's catch. I lift up my covers and they come in and cuddle me.
C
When she says she hasn't freaked out like that in a while, she actually freaked out like that about 45 minutes earlier. Yes. Remember when I went to tap you on the shoulder to see if you were awake in Buddy's room?
A
Because I fell asleep in Buddy's room.
C
And then.
A
Oh, my gosh. But anyways, both kids ended up in the bed last night, and they always just love to lay on me. And I want to indulge in the moments because I know one day it's going to be done, but it just means I don't sleep. So. Yeah. I'm on very little.
C
Yeah.
A
Today.
C
So we'll all forgive you if you don't know the answers to these questions. All right, are you ready? Yeah. Okay, question number one. What is the only country that is also a continent?
A
Oh, my gosh. Antarctica. No. Oh, maybe.
C
Maybe. Is. Does anybody. Antarctica doesn't have a government, so maybe that wouldn't be a country. Oh, are they really? Okay, I didn't know that. Yeah, I mean, when you said that, I was like. Oh, no, You got me.
A
Yes. So that's not it.
C
No.
A
Okay, so, like, I get a couple more guesses or. No.
C
I mean, yeah.
A
Okay. I feel like it's like something I don't even know. It's a country, but it's also continent.
C
Yeah.
A
So, like, Africa.
C
Oh, my gosh.
A
No, I'm sorry. I was kidding. Okay.
C
Oh, you guys can't give her hints.
A
Another. Austria.
C
Austria. No, it's not Austin.
A
Okay, I can't. Which. What is it?
C
Australia.
A
Australia is also a continent, but they have government, right?
C
Yes. There is a country that is Australia, and then there's a continent that.
A
That.
C
It's awesome.
A
That's right, because it's like. I knew it. I did. Thank you.
C
All right, question number two. Which US president appears on a $5 bill?
A
Five. Is it Benjamin Franklin?
C
No.
A
I mean, it's not Thomas Jefferson, is it?
C
No.
A
George Washington? I don't know. Who is it?
C
Abraham Lincoln.
A
Oh, my gosh. I should have known that. But he's pissed he's not on the hundred dollar bill. That's Benjamin, right? He's on the hundred. Yep. Dang it.
C
Okay.
A
And Abe. I like Abe.
C
You like? Yo, you like good old Abe?
A
Yeah.
C
Good old Dave. Okay, which. What state is the biggest state in the United States?
A
Texas. California. Oh, Alaska.
C
Ding, ding, ding, ding, ding, ding. Ding, ding, ding. Okay, one out of three.
A
Thank you.
C
Yeah, one out of three. Okay, now it's time to bring jj. And we're not gonna do ten, right?
A
Okay, Just one out of three.
C
What? No, I mean, that's how we used to do it is. We used to do three questions.
A
Okay, do two more. We'll do five each.
C
Okay.
A
I want to redeem myself. I think it's harder.
C
Okay, let's see. What is the capital of Japan?
A
Tokyo.
C
Ding, ding, ding, ding, ding, ding, ding.
A
See, that's why I needed it.
C
And the last one. What's 12 times 8?
A
16. 260. No, 206. No.
C
That'S two wrongs.
A
16, 1. 178.
C
Oh, my God.
A
I don't know.
C
96.
A
Oh, it's 96. That was fucking way off.
C
So. So. So what? So what'd she get? She got.
A
That's so embarrassing.
C
She got two. Two out of five.
A
I hope my brother's just, like, not okay. I'll grab jj.
B
Wait, how many did she get? Can you tell me that or no?
C
So. So it was five. It's five questions.
B
She's over.
C
Huh? What's that?
B
She went over.
C
No, she did not go over. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Okay. So are you. Fudge, fudge, fudge. But I think we can cuss on this podcast. Yeah.
B
Actually, you know what? Kiss my daughter's word. Girls, don't ever say those words. All right? That's Uncle Brian, by the way.
C
Don't listen to your dad. Yeah, why wouldn't listen, Uncle Brian, Say whatever the. You want this.
B
Sorry. Okay.
C
All right, we got it out. All right, here we go.
B
You got me going.
C
Yeah, yeah. I act. I actively try to not use foul language, but when you get the chance like that, it's fun.
B
Yeah. You gotta go.
C
Yeah, yeah. You got. You gotta go for it. I'm almost like a 12 year old in that sense.
B
It feels good sometimes.
C
It does.
A
Yeah.
C
Yeah. Okay, question.
B
Brown and Nicole would be kicked out of this podcast. We're gonna change his name right here.
C
All right, question number one. What is the only country that is also a continent?
B
Australia.
C
Ding, ding, ding, ding, ding, ding, ding. Question number two.
B
It's geography man.
C
Which US President appears on the five dollar bill?
B
Oh, fuck. Five dollar. Is it Lincoln?
C
Yeah. Which state in the United States is the biggest state?
B
Alaska. That's easy. That's easy money.
C
What's. What's the capital of Japan?
B
I want to say it, but I feel weird. It has to be Tokyo. I'm like, wait, is it There's. I'm trying to think of another big.
C
And the. The final question. What is 12 times 8? You only get one opportunity.
B
12 times 8?
C
Yeah.
B
96.
A
This shit is easy.
B
No, you didn't.
C
She did. She got two out of five.
B
She didn't get the math one, did she?
C
She did not. Her first guess was over 200.
B
No, wait, she. Australia.
C
No, she did not. She first said Antarctica.
B
I sort of get that.
C
No, but she got three opportunities with each guest continent. Yeah, she got three opportunities at each guest. So first you gave her three. No, that's how. That. That's how Bella Brains has always worked.
B
Yeah, but you just told me only get one shot on the last one.
C
On the last one. Because you were. You had already won. You had already won. I just wanted to see.
B
Wait, what did you miss? Hold on. Which.
C
So she missed what she get, right, actually, because that's.
B
That's shorter.
C
Okay. The big. The biggest. The biggest state, but she got it on her third gu. And then. And then she got Tokyo on the first.
B
She went Florida. Texas.
C
She went Texas. California, then Alaska.
B
Dude, it's Alaska, man.
A
And.
C
And.
B
Okay, that's propaganda, y'. All.
C
If I would. If I would have food. If I would have said, what's the biggest state in the continental. Continental United States of America? Texas would have been.
B
Texas would be it.
C
Yeah.
B
Yeah, it's Alaska, man.
C
Yeah, yeah.
B
I mean, that's an easy dub.
C
So, you know, it's a lot less. It's a. Bella Brains is a lot less fun with you on it instead of Nicole, because then it becomes.
A
That's actually so funny. I love it. All right, sweet face. Well, thank you so much for gracing us all this holiday season with the, you know, game of Bella Brains. Remember we used to go, bella Brains. Bella Brains.
C
Bella Brains. Bella Brains. Bella Brains.
A
You remember that? Oh, my gosh. I know. We gotta bring it back. I just think Brian got sick of us always answering it wrong.
C
No, there was somebody who had said something to me about like, oh, man, you really bully like your. Your wife and your sister in law with the Bella Brain stuff. And I was like, oh, I'm asked to do this. Like, this is not. If you. If you actually see me in. In the wild with Bri, it's very much like, yes, ma'.
B
Am.
C
Yes, ma'. Am.
A
Well, not even like that. I never thought you were bullying us. It was like fun game. Whoever said that to you is dramatic. I never thought that. All right, Brian. Well, we have one of our audience members who's going to do inspiration, affirmation.
C
Perfect.
A
So you're off the hook.
C
Oh, great.
A
I should know your name, because you have beaten me at arm wrestling twice at two live podcast shows.
B
Yes.
A
And here we are again. Here we are. What's your name? Francine. Francine. I know the face, but I'm awful with names, by the way. My mom always told me, like, say the name three times in your head. Okay?
B
Say it.
A
And I. Francine, Francine, Francine. I always remember now, but I swear I would do that all the time, and I still would walk away and go, oh, what's her name? I'm like, the worst Hanjay. Like, and then I look at Nikki and she's like, you're supposed to know. I'm like, damn it. So. But, Francine, so. So I'll remember that. Okay, Francine. So thank you so much for being here today. And can you hit us all with a little inspiration and affirmation? Absolutely. May your Christmas be filled with family laughter and cherished traditions, creating memories that will be remembered and passed down for a lifetime. Oh, I love that. And, you know, it's interesting because. And I feel like Nikki and I talk about this a lot on the podcast. Is tradition. And obviously, everyone knows the drummer boy dinner. Like, I never in a million years thought so many people like, oh, when are you guys doing drummer boy? But it is a big tradition, our family. Why my brother is here this weekend. But I do. I feel like, you know, this time of year, it really reminds us how important tradition is and being with family and just the love and laughter and let's be honest, drama can come. But save the drama for your mama Valentine's Day, because all you are keeping your trees up till then. Save it to. Until then. But, you know, it's like, it's such a beautiful time of year. So do you have a family tradition? You do? We're starting some. We usually do a white elephant, which I love white elephants. And then are you guys.
