Nikki
Welcome back to the Nikki and Bri Show. Today we have a really cool guest. I mean, she is a total powerhouse. A woman who's gone from producing Hollywood blockbusters to creating cultural experiences that redefine fun and connection. She's an entrepreneur, author, and a visionary who's constantly reinventing herself and inspiring others to live boldly.
Bri
That's right. I mean, you know, Nikki, she sounds like one of our inspirations.
Nikki
Seriously.
Bri
And we're so lucky to have met her. You know, Nikki and I, as you guys have all seen socially, and if you've been in Vegas partying with us, you know that Bonita Bonita is really making their stamp there. And we are lucky because Jen has put us in one of her hit spots called Play Playground, which is in Las Vegas and in Nashville. And we're going to be picking her brain about her whole creation there. But what we loved so much is that Jen has created a space where creativity and connection all comes together. I mean, you know what I love is that we take our kids on these fun play dates. We take them to all these fun places to play games. Games, bounce around, go crazy. And Jen finally made one for adults. And it's perfect. It's. I feel like everything we have needed in our lives is to go back to that childlike play, to have some fun, let loose and reconnect. Yeah. And I can't wait to pick her brain about, you know, what, how she created the whole place, her designing it, everything.
Nikki
Well, just, I mean, she's an incredible entrepreneur because she's in so many different things and. And she believes in Bonita Bonita. So not only do you get a play, you get to have a glass of Bonita Bonita. Whether that's Las Vegas or Nashville.
Bri
Right. And for all of you who are over 21 and listen to the podcast, Nikki and I will be in Las Vegas for New Year's. So make sure to get your tickets, come see us. And also, if you're in Las Vegas at any other times, you can go to places like Play Social media. You can go to the Ghost part, the Palms, you can go to Old Red and sip on some bonita. Bonita.
Nikki
That's right. Even Lee's liquor. All right, well, Bri, I mean, I say we just bring her on. Yeah, well, we have so much to ask her.
Bri
We do have a lot to ask her. But before we bring her on, I do have something. What's one thing that you do as an adult that gives you those childlike feels?
Nikki
Well, I feel like right now, so much of it is with Mato. He, you know, at times when he has no one to play on the playground with, he's like, mommy, play. And all of a sudden, I'm sliding again and I'm swing singing and I'm playing all over a playground, and that's, like, really fun. Or he's having me finger paint or whatever. So I feel like those things, majority of the time, it's with Mateo. And then sometimes Bree Mode over here makes me dance in the rain or do something like that. That reminds me how much I love that.
Bri
That's true. I mean, it is weird how, like, when I'm bouncing around with the kids on the trampoline or even I'm on the swings with them, you do get that childlike feeling back, and it's a great place to be. And I think our lives, we have to keep reminding ourselves to go back to that place of the playfulness, and I think it triggers creativity and letting go of, like, the seriousness of life.
Nikki
Totally.
Bri
So, all right, I say we bring Jen on. Now that we're in our childlike, fun, creative energy.
Nikki
That's right. Well, everyone, please welcome to the Nikki and Bri show, the incredible Jennifer Worthington.
Bri
Well, hello, Jen. Thank you so much for coming on the show. Nikki and I are so excited.
Jennifer Worthington
I could not be more excited to chat with you ladies.
Bri
I know. You know, what I loved is before we hit the record button, I love that you're like, do you guys drink? I love that. Because I feel like nowadays that is a big question when you're, like, being social. Because I can't believe how many times I go out to dinner and half the people now order a drink.
Nikki
Don't order a drink.
Bri
You mean. Well, both.
Jennifer Worthington
Oh, yeah. Literally, don't order a drink. It's like, it's totally changed the landscape of socializing because, you know, when you have a few cocktails, you're just so much more fun and open. Open with people.
Nikki
Yes.
Jennifer Worthington
And now everyone sits around and, like, stares at each other.
Bri
I agree.
Jennifer Worthington
I'm a big advocate of drinking.
Nikki
Yeah, well, and I'm also one of.
Bri
Those people, like, if I'm gonna be social and not drink, I'll see you at the gym. I don't know. I feel like we're at the spa coffee shop.
Jennifer Worthington
Could not agree with you more. I'm like, I'd rather stay home and watch Netflix if we're just gonna sit and, like, drink coffee or tea all night.
Bri
Girl, you just spoke the most heavenly words to us. Netflix and chill. If we're not drinking, that is us.
Nikki
And can I just tell you guys, if you haven't. Have you watched Minx on Netflix?
Jennifer Worthington
No, but I need a new show. So is it amazing?
Nikki
I just got into it, and I want to say it's a few years old. I think it made it for two seasons. I love it. It takes place, the era of it. The setting is, like, early 70s, around, like, in some, like, late 60s. So as you can imagine, the wardrobe's incredible, the backdrops. But what I love about it, out of feminist, who, because she had all these views, they wouldn't make a magazine. She really wanted to make a magazine. So she runs into a guy in the Valley who. He's been doing, like, kind of the first style Playboys. So he goes, well, if you kind of do it this way. But all your articles about feminism, I think it'll work. And she's like, no, but I'm at the part where they start to, like, explode, and she becomes. And it's based off real events.
Bri
Wow.
Nikki
No, but it's. It's really good. Well, I thought it was new, but.
Bri
What I realized it's just new to our Netflix list. But it's probably been around, right?
Nikki
It's, I think, a few years old. Let's see. It came out. I mean, it got a 7.6 on rotten or 93 on rotten tomatoes. So. Yeah, it's from 2022.
Bri
Okay. Somewhat new. All right.
Jennifer Worthington
Yeah, that's like. That's, like, vintage already.
Nikki
Pretty vintage. But, like, you see the cool vibes.
Bri
Oh, that is so.
Nikki
Yeah, so add that on your list.
Bri
It's on our list.
Jennifer Worthington
I'll. I'll definitely add that because that's, like, that's the best era.
Bri
The 60s.
Jennifer Worthington
And 70s. Don't you miss the. I mean, you weren't alive then, but the authenticity of that age and the grit and the glamour and like, for sure, that's the drugs. The rock and roll was such a good time.
Bri
So they were fighting for love and peace. So just. I could only imagine the energy going around through people.
Nikki
So I feel like this series shows that very well. Whether they're on a college campus, they're an environment like this in the Valley, or they're at the country club, they kind of hit every type of genre perfectly of, you know, whatever's happening in the world, and peace, love, and all the things. You guys are going to love it. And you know what else is really good is do you watch Palm Royale on apple? That kind of has.
Jennifer Worthington
I love that.
Nikki
Love it now. So good.
Bri
I mean, did you watch the first.
Nikki
Episode of season two?
Bri
I need to.
Jennifer Worthington
Did you watch the first season one?
Nikki
Okay, so season two just dropped. Second episode just came out last night. I've already watched the first episode. You guys are gonna love it.
Bri
Oh, I can't wait.
Nikki
It's even better.
Bri
Okay, I'll do it. I like.
Jennifer Worthington
I like to binge. I like to wait for there's a buildup and, like, sit in bed on a Saturday and light a fire and just, like, binge the whole day.
Nikki
Yeah, I love that.
Bri
Oh, that is.
Nikki
Sounds great.
Bri
Yeah. Oh, my goodness. Okay, Nikki, so the snow is here, the cold weather, and I think it's time that we start looking to go somewhere a little warm, maybe a little tropical white sand, beautiful beaches. What do you think?
Commercial Voice
I agree.
Nikki
My body is not only craving a bikini, but desperately needs some vitamin D.
Bri
And maybe a Mai Tai on top of that. I say we go on Airbnb, start to put in all the things that we want out of a location, out of a house, and see where it ends us, where it puts us.
Nikki
And you know what, Bri? After all these months, we've all been spending a lot of money, whether it's on gifts, holidays, food, travels. So let's now make some money. It's time we earn that money back. So I don't know if you all know, but you can host your home on Airbnb, which obviously is the smartest way to make a little extra income, right? Oh, yeah.
Bri
Or a lot.
Nikki
It depends.
Bri
I mean, that's right, Nikki. You can put it towards future travel, home improvement, or that fun splurge item you've been eyeing.
Nikki
I love that. And, you know, finding a little piece of home while you travel always Makes a trip special. Your home could be that for someone else.
Bri
Your home might be worth more than you think.
Nikki
Find out how much@airbnb.com host well, Nikki.

Bri
Well, the one thing I have to say is we kind of met over drinks in a way not like in person. But we're letting our listeners know that Bonita, Bonita is going to play Playground. But before we get into that, Nikki and I, you know, you are an amazing woman who's accomplished incredible things and things in male dominated industries. You're fearless. You're a badass. I mean, we were telling our listeners earlier that you have been a part of Hollywood since you've been 21 years old. A part of huge blockbuster hits like Pirates of the Caribbean, gone in 60 seconds, remember the Titans. And then you've made your way into the hospitality world. Open up bars like Coyote Ugly. But the one that we're all loving in Las Vegas and Nashville is Play Playground. What inspired you to, I mean, you're probably still in Hollywood, but go from Hollywood into hospitality.
Jennifer Worthington
Well, actually I'm not in Hollywood at all anymore. Although I look at the way we create hospitality environments is very cinematic, I guess is like the co word to say now. But it is true. We Create environments and immersive destinations as a way to sell cocktails. So. Or mocktails, as the case may be now. So I left the film business because I had a baby. And I was trying to work at the time, and it was. I was running into the office for a meeting during my maternity leave, and I slid and I dropped her on her head. And I was like, this is just not a vibe for me. I just like, I can't do. I can't be great at film anymore, and I can't be great mother. So I decided to take a break, and I moved to Las Vegas, where my husband was working. And I was literally grocery shopping every morning at 7am with strippers and hating my life. And every time my daughter cried, I wanted to shoot myself. I was like, this is so not fun. I'm just not a stay at home mother kind of person. My daughter, if she were here, would tell the story that I was on conference calls and I was locking her in the bathroom with water running so that people couldn't hear her crying. She's fine now, by the way. She was not at all traumatized by that.
Bri
But.
Jennifer Worthington
So I decided that I had just produced the movie Coyote Ugly, and it was coming out in October. And so I was like, wait a minute. Why not open a Coyote Ugly bar here in Las Vegas? And I have a $30 million marketing campaign from Disney behind it. And we did. We opened in September. I found a few partners I'd never been in hospitality before, and we became the highest grossing bar per square foot in the country. The first week we were open, we were literally had so much cash that we couldn't fit it in the safes. We were like, shoving cash in our. Like, down our shirts, running it to the car, shoving it in the trunk. And I'm like, this is the best business ever. Like, this is so easy. Why is everyone not doing this? And then, of course, after Coyote Ugly, I realize it's not that easy. And not every. I know why everybody's not doing it, but it was just one of those, like, magical moments.
Bri
Moments, for sure. I mean, Coyote Ugly was like, a magical moment too, especially for women. Like, seeing those women, like, dancing on the bar tops, like, owning it.
Nikki
Yeah. And I mean, I could still sing, like, all the Land Rhyme songs from there. Like, there was just so many different pieces to it that, like, became iconic. The outfits, dancing on the bar in those outfits, the music. It is one of those, like, rare things that just, like, turn absolutely magical, you know, it's kind of like the Wicked of its time. In a way, it's totally true.
Jennifer Worthington
The funny thing is, like, everybody thought that was a movie made for guys. It totally wasn't. It was a movie made for women. And my bosses at the time, Don Simpson and Jerry Barkheimer, had produced a movie called Flashdance. You guys remember that?
Nikki
Oh, yeah.
Jennifer Worthington
I don't know. I say flash dance and a lot of people are like, what? But that was an iconic movie.
Nikki
Iconic, Yeah, I know.
Jennifer Worthington
Totally iconic. So they wanted. They were like, let's go create the new version of Flashdance. It's all about female empowerment and getting your voice. And it really wasn't a movie for women. And that's what's so interesting because it didn't do that well at the bot. Did okay in the box office, but it's had such a life after. Because women discovered the movie.
Nikki
Yes, for sure. I took that. I totally took empowerment away from it. When we watched it and we were.
Bri
Younger, I mean, I still, like, feel like girls will dress up as they'll say Coyote Ugly for Halloween. Like, they're like, totally, you know, get with their girlfriends. So that's incredible. Well, then, so Play Playground. I mean, it is a playground for adults. It's incredible. You can go on bouncy houses. I mean, you can do all the fun things. What inspired you to not only design Play Playground, but to come up with the concept?
Jennifer Worthington
Well, we are so addicted to our phones. And like, it was just after Covid, everybody was experiencing this, like, really deep loneliness and lack of human connection. And then this whole notion of Instagram and all of our fake friends that were part of their lives, but we have no actual connection with anybody. You two are sitting on a couch next to each other. Human connection is so important for us. And so we set out to create a venue that really encouraged that social interaction by putting people in fun and funny environments where we're laughing with and at each other. So the idea is we created games. So multiple people are playing games together. So you're high fiving, you're laughing, and then we're doing these crazy, monumental bounce houses, or you're jumping on trampolines and landing on Velcro walls. And we just wanted people to laugh together. So the first year we were open in Vegas, we had six engagements for people that met there because it's such a crazy environment to meet someone. Like, you're not sitting at a bar awkwardly being like, oh, you're cute, but you're actually watching someone be a complete idiot. Our customers are not idiots, but, like, Be doing silly things.
Bri
Silly.
Jennifer Worthington
And it's like such an easy way to like you're laughing with someone and it's a great way to meet. So that was really what we set out to do. And look, we're improving every day. We've had amazing. Our first year in Vegas, we had 250,000 customers. And we love this concept, right? People come in and the entire time they're there, they're laughing. Like how many places can you say that about?
Bri
Right?
Nikki
No.
Bri
Well, and I love that. And you know, I feel like too sometimes first dates, like at least when I was in the dating scene, I mean this was a long time ago, but I always feel like dinner felt like really intimate for first date. Like it was, it made it really nerve wracking where I feel like if we were able to go somewhere and have fun, you know, it's like it would have made the date not as like an interview process or as nervous. Right. Well.
Nikki
And you know, I was just in New York for a week. I didn't go out once. And you know me, I always go out. I know. And I always go out in New York. But I wasn't craving the same old. I guess, like I, I knew what I would go sit at a bar.
Bri
And have a drink. You weren't craving it?
Nikki
I wasn't craving that. And that's like what I love about you guys is I think of, I guess because you, Sean and I came from mono and I was with one of my best friends in Bri and we had like, we were drinking. We hosted a Bonita Bonita event and watched the sunset on the incredible ocean. And then we went and had her like, listen to Piano bar. We just had our silly fun.
Bri
And I loved that.
Nikki
Like I woke up with a hangover. But I was like, this is worth it. I had so much fun last night. Didn't think I'd be this hungover, but it was well worth it. I didn't. Nothing was worth even getting dressed for.
Jennifer Worthington
It created those memories with your friends by creating those environments with your people. And that's, that's the thing about going to a bar. You all of a sudden often have like, you know, men or it's just like there's something about that bar environment that's less intimate as a friendship group.
Nikki
Yeah, it's so true. You just, you sit down and I. It's like sometimes people will come up and approach you, but it's always in like, we're like, okay, I only have like two hours right now. Like, can I just, like, talk with my friends, but it never ends up being like that.
Bri
Right. Well, you know, what's interesting is that they say with, you know, the youth, the one thing that they're lacking is having close enough friends to tell their secrets to. Because so much communication is through phones and dms and, you know.
Nikki
And I don't want to put secrets there.
Bri
Right.
Jennifer Worthington
Nothing in writing.
Bri
Nothing.
Nikki
No.
Bri
And that's the thing is that they're scared to. They don't. So that they never say what's really going on deep inside. So they're not releasing that, which is why mental illness, they're saying, is happening at such a young age, or suicide. Like, they were going through it, and I was like, I didn't even think about that. Like, at a young age. They're learning to disconnect. And that's so sad to me.
Jennifer Worthington
They say that 50% of men in their young 20s have never asked a woman out on a date or been on a date with a woman. So think about that. I mean, they're not having sexual. Like, none of that is actualized in real life. It's all on your phones and, you know, it's. Which is. Think about it. That's crazy.
Bri
That is crazy. You know, my daughter, we were. My husband was actually explaining this to her the other day because she was saying, it's just sometimes really nervous to tell someone how I feel. And my husband was like, my best friends in middle school were like, you can ask this girl out. He's like, I had a crush on this girl for two years. They, like, pumped me up. They're like, go, ask her out. He goes, I walked over. I asked her out. She literally goes, ew, no, you're fat. And he's like, so not only did she say, no, decline, then she dissed me. He goes, body shame. He goes, I turned around, and my guy friends are all like, like, thinking, thumbs up. He came over and he's like, not only did she say no, she called me fat. And he goes, what was so great? He's like, my best friends are like, man, that sucks. But, like, you're not fat. And he's like, they made me feel good about getting denied and then dissed. He's like. And he told my daughter. He's like, we need this in life.
Nikki
Yeah.
Bri
Like, we can't shame away from, like, the hard conversations we're gonna have face to face with people.
Nikki
I remember getting rejected at a soccer tournament or whatever. And we'd always, you know, the boys would be like, at the same hotels or whatever. And I remember a boy saying, no, she's not. She's not cute to me. And there's going. I think she's so cute. And then I. It was my first time experiencing. And this had to be like sixth grade of like, you know what? I'm not everyone's type. And that's okay at first.
Jennifer Worthington
The fact that you remember that story.
Nikki
Do you know what I mean? It did kind of like me a little bit because I was like, wow. And I want to be like, where's he at now? Yeah.
Bri
Who he ever be?
Nikki
Would he ever?
Jennifer Worthington
But the thing is that experience shaped you and gave you the social skills to thrive as an adult. The problem is kids are not getting those social skills anymore.
Nikki
Yeah, right.
Jennifer Worthington
Because they're not experiencing.
Bri
Nikki Vibe can get really busy.
Nikki
Really busy. I mean, I would say it's been busy for all of us.
Bri
I know. And sometimes we just need to take a breather, sit down, and ask ourselves one very important question.
Nikki
What's that, Bri?
Bri
Have you had your Hershey's?
Nikki
I sure have had my Hershey's Brie.
Jennifer Worthington
And you know what?
Nikki
When you need to brighten up your day or even put a smile on your face, grab the classic creamy texture and pure milk chocolate flavor of Hershey's milk chocolate.
Bri
Whether you're eating it on the go, breaking off a few pieces for s' mores night, or treating yourself to something sweet, or Hershey's milk chocolate checks all the boxes.
Nikki
It sure does. You want to know what one of my favorite moments with Hershey's chocolate is, Teo? And I like, I love it because you know me, I'm chocolate lover. But now I have a son who's a chocolate lover. So we split bars all the time. It's just such a moment for us, a very happy moment. We look at each other. He always ends up getting chocolate all over his face. But it's just such a sweet, sweet moment that I find myself always reaching for a Hershey bar.
Bri
Always. I mean, we love making s' mores in my family. So every time I bust out a Hershey bar, my kids start screaming with excitement. They know it's about to be s' more time. So for all of you, shop for Hershey's milk chocolate now at a store.
Nikki
Near you found wherever candy is sold.
Bri
This podcast is brought to you by Kleenex lotion tissues.
Nikki
Bri, this time of year, I feel so bad because we travel a lot. I just dread it because I know people are going to be Flying with colds, possibly the flu. You never know.
Bri
I feel like I've been blowing my nose for two weeks straight now. It's awful. But you can't predict sick days. But with Kleenex lotion tissues, you can be better prepared for them while helping.
Nikki
Keep your skin healthy, which is so nice. And that's why Kleenex lotion tissues moisturize to help prevent the added discomfort of red, irritated skin while you're battling those unwanted cold and flu symptoms. It's extra care when you need it most.
Bri
With lotion built into every tissue, your skin stays moisturized and healthy no matter how many you use.
Nikki
So keep relief within reach. Grab Kleenex lotion tissues to help avoid the added discomfort of irritated skin during cold and flu season.
Bri
I mean, why not have one less thing to worry about when you're not feeling your best?
Nikki
I agree, because we all know life is unpredictable, but you can be prepared for that time of year when germs are going around. So, hey, everyone, make sure you always have Kleenex lotion tissues by your side.
Bri
For whatever happens next. Grab Kleenex. So, like now, just because you've done so many incredible things in business, do you have young people, let's say, whether they graduate high school or college, come to you and be like, how do I make that first step as a businesswoman becoming an entrepreneur? How do I prepare for interviews? Do you get asked those questions?
Jennifer Worthington
I get asked those questions a lot. And it's interesting because I think the kids coming up now don't want to work. So this is my number one piece of advice for young. I was going to say young women, but young men, too. But it's mostly young women that come to me, is that it's all about putting in the time. Right? I mean, that was how, you know, I produced my first movie when I was 23, but I. I was the first person at the office. I was the last person to leave. I had no idea what I was doing, to be perfectly honest, but I faked it. And the truth is, nobody wants to put in the time anymore. They want to. You know, I have employees that have worked for me for six months that come in asking for a raise. Like, I didn't get a raise for two years. I mean, it's just. It's a very different generation coming up. And so it's. It's interesting. So, yes, I get a lot of those. Those interviews and those questions.
Bri
Oh, my gosh.
Nikki
Well, you know, it's like we. At times, we'll deal with that in our industry and this was like year, even years and years before we were dealing with that. I remember people would come in and be like, well, I want to be where you two are at. I'm like, well, at that point, we're almost 20 years in. @ that point I was like, well, it took me 10 years to get here 10 years ago. And people ask about my success now. I'm like, I'm almost two decades in of really hard work at times. I mean, majority of time I'm still hustling because I'm not exactly where I want to be. But it's, you know, I told my go, there's no such thing as overnight success. I'm like, and you will fail, but you have to keep going. You can't give up and then just think you go into something else. And so it's funny because I have realized that too. People don't realize it's not only about the hard work, but it's about the time. It's time it takes, you know, a while to get.
Bri
Some. Well, and would you say risk too? Do you feel like you've taken a lot of risk in.
Jennifer Worthington
Your. I've taken huge risk. And by the way, sometimes it's worked, but many times it has not. That's the other thing that you've got to be willing to take that risk. Especially if you're going into a non corporate, you know, job path like you guys have. I mean you have to be able to take the risk and, and by the way, suffer the humiliation of it doesn't work, but then you've got to stand right back up and try again. But again, that's a whole mentality. And you know, so much I think of starting businesses is mental, right? Like I stay up every night worrying about my employees, worrying about my business, worrying about my customers, worrying about my investors returning, you know, everything and you have to be able to handle that and then get right back up and put on a smile on your face and do it all over again. But it's hard. It looks shiny, you know, shiny and pretty. What a great job you have on the outside. And I do, I love every, every day. But it's not easy. It's, you know, it's a.
Nikki
Struggle. It is a struggle. I.
Bri
Agree. How would you say you balance it.
Jennifer Worthington
All? I am not particularly good at that. It's something that I, my husband says to me every day you've got to worry a little bit more about your self care and worry less about everybody else. But I actually think That's a female trait that, you know, as a woman and caretaker, like, I really worry about everybody else around me sort of more so. It's something I'm working on, and I think I'll probably working on that until I.
Nikki
Retire.
Jennifer Worthington
Okay.
Nikki
Never.
Bri
Right? I hear.
Nikki
You. So true. I always feel like it's one of my New Year's Eve resolutions, or it's like a birthday wish or I write it on a rock. If I'm at some spiritual retreat. I'm like, the word balance. It's. I'm always. How am I? Like, all these years in and I'm still trying to figure it out. I just can't. I've even asked Chat GPT because, by the.
Bri
Way. Oh, have.
Jennifer Worthington
You?
Nikki
Okay. Like, ask about balance. So how do I balance life out? It gives me a whole.
Bri
Check. But I feel like for women, as balancing our life out is saying no to.
Nikki
Things. Like, I feel like that's what.
Bri
Balanced me out is I had to say no and not think, what if, though? What if? I had to let that go? And that's helped me balance out. Like, I. For me, luxury is having absolutely nothing to do in a day. Like, literally Sunday, I wore PJs all day, and I thought, maybe I should get out of them. And I'm like, no, actually, today. I can do it today. I don't have to get out of my PJs. And I actually wore them again that night and woke up the next.
Nikki
Day. Well, I think it's a luxury to have it at home because there are a few days, right, where you're working, and it's like, okay, I don't have enough time to fly home today. So I have a day off in New York City because I have to work back in New York City the next day. But it's.
Jennifer Worthington
Different. It's totally.
Bri
Different. Right. But it's good you made the decision to stay. No, I know. To work on yourself, which I. That's. I feel like good.
Nikki
Balance.
Jennifer Worthington
Yeah. But sometimes being away from your home also has freedom. Right. You're not worrying about your kids. You're not worrying about your house. It's just, you can stay in that hotel room all day. But I do think it's a choice, and I think it's a really. Especially with women with children, it's an even harder choice because you always feel tugged. Right. I mean, you're all. If you decide to take the day for yourself, like, you should be taking that time with your child or you should be spending more time with Working. I mean, it's a constant mental struggle for.
Nikki
Most. For sure. It, like, never goes away. And I. I feel like, you know, it's like I try to replace it with toys. Like, okay, I know Mommy's been gone for quite a few days, so I'm gonna show up with a toy or with something. But it's like that. There's that little part of you. It just doesn't go for.
Bri
Sure. I mean, they were in their PJs with me all day, so I was.
Jennifer Worthington
Lucky. Okay, well, that's. That's a perfect scenario.
Bri
Then.
Nikki
Exactly.
Bri
Serious. And then we. We did a little gardening, but I was like. And I ordered food for lunch, so I guess that's the bl. Like, they get to do it with me. Right. And so which helps for someone like me. Mental balance. And it just. Then it makes me like, Monday, I was like, all right, like, full force into the week. Let's do.
Jennifer Worthington
This. But are you actually turning off in that moment? Like, are you checking your emails? Are you checking.
Bri
Text? Usually I would, but Sunday, I made sure not to. I was like. I had my phone away majority of the time because I also am mindful of trying not to be on my phone so much in front of my.
Nikki
Kids.
Bri
Yeah. Because, like, even my daughter one time drew a picture, and I had my phone. She put a.
Jennifer Worthington
Phone. Oh, my.
Nikki
God.
Bri
No.
Nikki
Yes. You didn't tell me.
Bri
That. Yeah, and she, like, wrote all these, like, things, like. And I was like, oh, my gosh. I'm like. So I definitely made it. Where? Morning. I never come out in the morning with the phone in my hand. I leave that until we're ready to go to school. So I'm trying to be more mindful, but it's hard because what I try to tell them is that because of this device, I get to be home more. It's not like, you know how my mom was back in the day where you had to show up constantly in the office. Like, we're lucky to do so much on our phones, which is nice about technology. But then your kids are watching and then thinking, you know, at times, or is that phone more important than them? So it's your kids. We never.
Nikki
Win. Oh, no kids. Sonapa.
Bri
Phones. No.
Nikki
It'S. And we're gonna say strict for a long time.
Jennifer Worthington
Yeah. Like.
Nikki
To. What age do you think.
Bri
I. You know.
Nikki
What? When he gets his driver's license, I will do one of those type of phones where it's, like, not an actual, like, phone where he could do social media or Anything. I can't remember what they're called. Don't they some name where they're.
Jennifer Worthington
Like. Like the old flip.
Nikki
Phones? Yeah, pretty much. He'll have something like that for.
Jennifer Worthington
In case of emergency, but there is no way you're gonna last till 16.
Nikki
Really? I think so. I'm gonna bribe them. I'm gonna say I will put money in an account every.
Bri
Year.
Nikki
Yeah. That you don't have a.
Bri
Phone. Well, my daughter's 7, and she's asking this Christmas, she really wants a gizmo watch. Have you heard.
Commercial Voice
About. Oh.
Jennifer Worthington
Yeah. A lot of the kids want the.
Nikki
Gizmos.
Bri
Yeah. And I said no. It's like, she can call me and I think I can text her and she can respond back to me, and that's.
Jennifer Worthington
It. Like, Brian, you can do preset numbers. So, like, you can say. You can call your grandmother, your, you know, one best friend. So it limits that.
Bri
Reaction. But I'm just like, I told.
Nikki
You.
Bri
No. I'm like.
Nikki
Yeah. I.
Bri
Go. Because you'll be on it the whole time. So we talked because we were putting our Christmas list. And I go, you know, would be really cool. I think a boombox. We can get you a boombox so you can play songs. We can make tapes. And like.
Nikki
I. And she was decorated all cute.
Bri
Yeah. And she's so into it. So boombox is at number one on her Christmas.
Nikki
List.
Bri
List. And I'm thinking, I hope they still make.
Nikki
Boomboxes. They have to make.
Jennifer Worthington
That. Do they? Do.
Nikki
They? I.
Bri
Know. I don't know. I feel like all they're doing something like it.
Nikki
Right. I feel like all the 90s nostalgia is coming back. So.
Bri
Like. Yeah. Because, you know, my kids love to listen to music, but they go to my phone to listen to music. And then next, you know, the swiping and the different. So I was like, ah. I. I wonder if I can get a boombox and get her her favorite tapes or something.
Nikki
Yeah. I don't.
Jennifer Worthington
Know. I remember the old days of making.
Bri
Mixtapes. Oh, it was my.
Nikki
Favorite. I missed those.
Bri
Days. And you listen to the.
Nikki
Radio. I miss getting one. It would be so fun to do. And, like, with, like, the pen. Yeah. Make it all.
Bri
Cute. Oh, my gosh. And put the stickers, like, on the COVID You know.
Nikki
Whatever. Like, you just decorate it or how they'd even write.
Bri
It. So we would, like, be listening to the radio and we'd, like, go. Because you knew what song was coming on next. Like, the VJ would say it. So we would. Right. When they. The song would hit. We'd like hit, hit.
Jennifer Worthington
Record. Hit.
Nikki
Record. You always have to hit, like the two buttons.
Jennifer Worthington
Yeah. @ the.
Nikki
Same.
Bri
Time. Yeah. I mean, the days also distilled in us was patience and like getting creative, always finding.
Nikki
A way. But it was also the excitement of hearing that song. We couldn't just hear it. We had to wait for it. And then when it came. I keep sending you all those reels. I think they're doing such a good job on the reels.
Bri
On Instagram.
Nikki
90S reels. 90s nostalgia. Like.

Bri
Time.
Nikki
We. We. You want to play a game? You want to play a game.
Jennifer Worthington
With us? Oh, my God, I.
Nikki
Love games. Okay, so this is called Finish the sentence. So we have 10 questions. The first thing I do in the morning is have a cup of coffee. Yeah, I. I couldn't live.
Jennifer Worthington
Without that. The most boring answer ever. But that is.
Nikki
A fact. No, it's. That's it. My go to comfort.
Jennifer Worthington
Meal is Cipriani in.
Bri
New York. Oh, that's a.
Nikki
Good spot. That's a really good spot. If I could relive one moment in my career, it would be.
Jennifer Worthington
While I was shooting Coyote.
Nikki
Ugly Life. I bet I want to relive.
Bri
That moment. Well, you know, I was partying a New York bar. I had just moved to New York. I was 27, and I saw Piper, the main actress in the bar, and I was like, that's main actress from Coyote Ugly. I was like.
Nikki
So stoked. Totally. The best piece of advice.
Jennifer Worthington
I've ever received is manage up and manage down. So you're managing your employees, but you're also managing up for Expectations for the people.
Bri
Above you. Oh, that's really good.
Nikki
Me too. Yeah, I need to write that one down. When I think of Las Vegas, I.
Bri
Think of. The grocery.
Jennifer Worthington
Store. Yeah. Everything I say sounds good. About to be naughty. So.
Bri
We'Re naughty. Our brains.
Jennifer Worthington
Are there. When I think of Las Vegas, I think of a city of innovation. So it's an amazing place to visit, but it's a city that reinvents itself every seven years. And it's a city where you can come up with the most wild, wildest, wild, outlandish dream and see it come to fruition. So I think it's the most extraordinary city of innovation in.
Bri
The country. I love, I.
Nikki
Love that. That's.
Bri
Really cool. And you know what, you're. You're right about that. Because I feel like when artists want to reinvent themselves or. That's right. You know what I mean? You think of Vegas like everyone goes there and they can reinvent themselves, they can try new things and it could hit big.
Nikki
Totally amazing. Well, and I think it's really smart how Hollywood's starting to go over there and I think you're gonna see.
Jennifer Worthington
Other people. You know what's interesting about Vegas? It's the only place so people all over the country save up all year for their trip to Las Vegas. And of course, every major chef from all over the world's there. And those people come in to a Daniel Boulud restaurant or Cipriani in their tube socks and their sandals. And they would never have the confidence to do that in New York, Louisiana, Chicago or Miami. But they get this sort of memory making, magical experience because they feel comfortable to experience that in Las Vegas. So I think it's such a.
Nikki
Special city.
Bri
I agree. I'm cool. Yeah, that's.
Nikki
Spot on. Spot on. The one word that describes me.
Jennifer Worthington
Best is.
Nikki
Hard worker. I believe that we read your Medium piece. That was a great article.
Jennifer Worthington
On you. Oh.
Nikki
Thank you. Yeah.
Bri
You'Re welcome.
Nikki
Super incredible. But so I'm like, yeah, hard worker.
Jennifer Worthington
For sure. I'm.
Nikki
A grinder. Yeah. Or bad. You know, I would say all above. The biggest risk I ever.
Jennifer Worthington
Took was leaving the film business and starting my own company. I mean, I think there is something so easy about having expense accounts and assistance and flying first class and staying at five star hotels. And then when you go start your own thing and you have to go raise money and you've got capital at risk and you're, you know, people's livelihoods depend on you, I think that's the biggest risk I've ever taken in my life. And by the way, I continue to take it. I'm a sucker for, you know, torture.
Bri
Self torture. Yeah. My God, I.
Nikki
Love it. Let's. But I agree. I feel like.
Bri
We'Re very. I was like, gosh, I relate. Yeah, I relate to that.
Nikki
Very much. Success to me means spending.
Jennifer Worthington
Time with my family, spending time with my daughter, watching her compete. She's got very high level of a sport. And so my. I think my favorite moments in my life are watching.
Bri
Her compete. I.
Nikki
Love that. That's. There's something better than that when they're doing their thing and becoming their person and. Okay, two more. If I wasn't doing what I do now, I'd probably be a professional tennis player.
Jennifer Worthington
Oh, okay. By the way, not a successful one, but I would. That would be. My dream is to be a professional.
Nikki
Tennis player. Have you been into any of the opens? Like New.
Jennifer Worthington
York, London? Oh, yeah, yeah. I got to go to the. The Olympics. Watch the tennis Olympics last year, which.
Nikki
Was amazing.
Bri
That's so. Oh, my gosh. I keep telling my sister she needs to go to the U.S. open. I'm like.
Jennifer Worthington
It is. U.S. open is wild. I love it. It's next level. It's because it's New York, right? Like, everyone's screaming. There's such New York energy there. You.
Nikki
Gotta go. I need to go. We'll go next year or this coming year.
Bri
Or whenever. When.
Jennifer Worthington
Is it? September? Yeah.
Nikki
Next year. Okay, perfect. Last question. In my life, if my life were a movie, the title would be Walk.
Jennifer Worthington
The Walk. Yeah, I like that stupid answer, but I.
Nikki
Could not.
Jennifer Worthington
No, no. Better.
Nikki
For that. The first thing that came up for me with yours would be like, not life in the fast lane, but something because you're in all these different lanes. Or. No, but I.
Jennifer Worthington
Actually like. If you ask me, like, what song is like, my. My mantra. It is Life in the fast lane.
Nikki
By the.
Jennifer Worthington
No way. So that's weird that you just said that because, like, when I need to get pumped for a meeting, I always listen.
Bri
To that. Oh.
Nikki
My God. That was like. The first thing that popped in my head was life and.
Jennifer Worthington
Fast lane. So I'm like, a.
Nikki
Hundred percent. Oh, cool. Well, then maybe.
Bri
That'S it. Well, you know, it's.
Nikki
A.
Bri
Song. Yeah. And you know what's interesting is people ask me what my, like, pump up song is, and I never have an answer for it. But I feel like I need to do research and get myself a Pump up song because I think it is important to play something when.
Jennifer Worthington
You'Re gonna go into something, especially, like a meeting that's high level. You're, like, a little nervous and have some nerves. There's, like, like something about playing one of your. I have, like, three songs I rotate on, and I just sit in the car and, like, scream and dance to it. And then it totally calms my nerves. And, like, you walk in feeling like a million bucks. So I think you totally need to get.
Nikki
A song.
Bri
I agree. I need to.
Nikki
Do it. It really helps.
Bri
With.
Nikki
Confidence. Yeah. Okay. And nerves, of.
Jennifer Worthington
Course. Just. Yeah, I think it totally calms the.
Bri
Nerve. Yeah. What's your. Do you have.
Nikki
A song? Well, I mean, forever. It was always, what's the.
Bri
Rachel Platten?
Nikki
Oh, yeah. Why can't I think of.
Jennifer Worthington
The title? I don't even know who.
Bri
That is. It was kind of like her one big hit. Strong.
Nikki
Nose fight. You're on to it.
Bri
Fight song. Fight song.
Jennifer Worthington
You know? Yeah, of course. Yeah, that's. That's a.
Nikki
Good song. Yeah, that one I would always listen to. And so I feel like that one. And then I have a whole playlist I always play. But that's, like, always my first go to. To get. Like, why am I doing this? When you've had your downs is how you recovered. I'm just like.
Bri
Yeah, okay. I'm working.
Nikki
On that. You gotta work.
Bri
On it. My bad playlist. Yeah, I have that one too.
Nikki
Yeah, exactly. Okay. So, Jennifer, we love to end all of our episodes with a little inspiration affirmation for our listeners. Are there any quotes or mantras you live by that you.
Jennifer Worthington
Can share? No, I just try to wake up every day happy and optimistic. I think that's one of my superpowers, is that no matter how dark a situation is or how tough a situation is, I always am happy. And so I think that that makes a huge difference in tackling challenging problems. And so, yeah, every day I wake up and I try to think about what I'm grateful for in my life and always try to turn negative thoughts into something happy.
Bri
And positive. Oh, I.
Nikki
Love that. Yes, that. And I truly. Because I'm a big energy person and, you know, affirmations as well. But I do believe, like, one, when you show a lot of gratitude and you express it a lot always comes back. It always.
Bri
Comes back. It really does. And I think, too, like, you can wake up grumpy, but you can look in the mirror and, like, tell yourself it's gonna be a.
Nikki
Good day. Yeah.
Bri
You'Re okay. You know, like, you slept bad.
Jennifer Worthington
All right. We're the luckiest people on the planet. Right? I mean, we have success. We have people around us that love us and.
Bri
Support.
Jennifer Worthington
Us. Us. And you know, no matter what bumps the road, we've all had, we.
Bri
Are lucky. We are. Oh.
Nikki
My gosh. Amen to that. Well, thank you, Jennifer.
Jennifer Worthington
So much. You guys.
Bri
Are amazing. Oh, you too. And we are so excited to come to play.
Nikki
Playground. Yes. I also want to say thank you also for bringing Bonita. Bonita into.
Bri
Your playground.
Jennifer Worthington
Of course. We're so happy to.
Nikki
Have it. Thank you. We're grateful.
