I mean, I can't complain. It's been so gorgeous up here. I see all these heat waves going all over the world, right? We've seen it even affect certain World cup games, but we, crossing my fingers, have not had a heat wave yet up in the mountains. It's probably going to come sometime soon, but we've been blessed with, like, incredible weather. I've been loving it, actually. You want to know something funny? The other day, we got a little rainstorm, and just a little one, like, couple hours kind of made me feel like Florida. Brian and I literally went outside and laid on the. What do you call it? Long chairs, whatever, lawn chairs. And we just laid there and let the rain hit us. And we're like. It just felt so magical. I don't know, there's something about when, like, rain hits your face. Face and you're smelling it, especially in the mountains, you just. I don't know, feels like a refresher.

You feel alive for sure.

How about you? How's the weather been down there in Napa?

[Bri]

It's been amazing. I have to say. It's. It just always makes me be like, okay, this is why I pay California taxes, why pay California state tax, and why I love NorCal. Like, we're just so blessed with incredible weather. Even I got to see Mom a lot this past weekend, and she just was saying the same. She's just like, the weather is gorgeous up here. I'm like, I know. We are so lucky. And let me tell you, everyone's been out and about wine tasting. Napa Valley has been slammed. Every wine region has been packed. So it's been a lot of fun. And, you know, I have to say, like, think I've spent every Fourth pretty much in Lake Tahoe. Like, I. I can't remember the last time I wasn't up in tahoe for the 4th unless we were traveling for wrestling. But other than that, we've been pretty consistent with, you know, being in tahoe for the 4th and doing it for the first time in Napa Valley. It was so cute and sweet. I kept feeling like I was. What's that show on Netflix? The Magnolia one.

[Nikki]

Sweet Magnolias.

[Bri]

Yes. I felt like everything reminded me of that show. Like, even little Fourth of July gatherings I would go to, and the town would have all the tents up and the food trucks and the people and everyone in their, like, cute outfits and how the summer sun was and the kids were running around. And then this was the year that Mateo was like, I want to stay up and see fireworks. And I was like, okay, babe, let's make a fort in the backseat. Because I was like, okay, I'll drive him to Sonoma. Because Napa Valley right now, as you know, there's no fireworks because of fires. But Sonoma has more space where they're not so close to the mountains, right? It's just more open land. So they were still doing their fireworks show, and a lot of the Napa Valley moms were like, you've never seen the Sonoma fireworks show? And I was like, no, I'm always in, like, Tahoe, usually looking at the drone show. But also I realized since the boys have been born, I haven't been up late either to see fireworks unless it's on tv. So they all were telling me, no, this is where you go. It's such a great show. You'll get the best view. So Teo and I made a really cute fort in the back, packed up the car, and then when we got there, I didn't realize Sonoma does a full event like Bri, not just in the town square, in the baseball field. And it was magical, and there were so many people, and I found this good spot. And then Tay was like, well, I want to go in the field where all, you know, everyone's putting their blankets and stuff. So I'm like, okay, let's do it. When the fireworks started, well, one. Poor Remy was like, what is happening? I was holding Remy, and then I also had Mateo on my other arm. And Mateo just looked like. It was just so magical to see him look at those fireworks. And then there was some where he's like, is it gonna hit us? Cause you know how they get so close looking. But he just loved it. But I have to say, I loved it. And it was a really good fireworks show, and we just. It was so much fun. And we didn't get to bed till

11pm I mean, that was us because. So it's the first year I had both kids stay up late. Buddy's first time ever seeing fireworks. But Birdie, Brian, one time, I think you were around when Brian got her in the car and went, yes. And they tried.

[Bri]

I remember that.

[Nikki]

But just think, they stayed in the car. This is. We were pretty much. Our toes were in the water, and we're sitting on the beach watching it, and it was great. The kids loved it. Buddy was, you know, sitting on my lap real sweetly. I kept thinking, is he gonna fall asleep? But they loved it. But I'm. I mean, for me, it's different experience. I get very overwhelmed with sadness when I See fireworks. I just think about all the wildlife. And, you know, a lot of times, like, mothers will leave their nest and never go back because they freak out. I mean, you have to think. It's not like they're getting like, oh, today's Fourth of July, and we're going to fireworks tonight. So they freak out. And then I was, like, watching some of the fireworks, like, actually, a lot of them burn out in the water. And I'm like, I don't know, but that's fine. That's me. I'm like, weird like that. The kids loved it. We went to bed really late, but we all slept in the next day. Birdie didn't wake up till 9:30am and I was like, whoa. Brian and I were like, I wonder, like, if we should go wake her up. But so it was good. And Fourth of July was really fun. It gets packed in Lake Tahoe, but we had a great day. Like, just a great day. Well, you can't really tell my tan, but. But, yeah, it was a good one. And I feel like now every year, and we'll be staying up for fireworks, but they didn't do the drone show this year. They actually did fireworks. Oh, okay.

So then that makes me excited for next year because there was a. A lot of the times a part of me was, like, really missing Tahoe because, you know, when you're used to, like, a tradition and. And the smells and the different things. But then I will say it was also really fun being here because, as you know, we've built such a community, so we saw a lot of friends all weekend. Like, Mateo saw a lot of friends all weekend and, you know, friends that you're friends with. And that made it really special. So, you know what? So blessed to have both and whatever next year brings. We're so lucky that we have both options. But it was Sonoma gave me such childhood. Feels like.

Like, that's awesome.

Like, it reminded me of what the 80s and 90s looked like as far as, like, Fourth of July feels. And that was, like, really cool to see just a lot of people with their outfits and their blankets and just walking around and, like, you know what I mean? They're like. And sodas.

Yeah. I mean, I even drink White Claw because it's Fourth of July. You drink, like, those.

I remember being on FaceTime with you and you telling Brian, don't forget the white claw in the. In the ice chest. And I'm like, she just say, white claw?

But what about. Let's talk about the USA soccer team. Really bringing down 4th of July weekend.

I know I was like can we talk about the other games first? Well, let. Yeah, let's start there.

I mean I. Look, I get it. I'm not a prone. I don't play in the World cup. But personal opinions. I was super embarrassing.

But damn, you know what?

It was actually like everyone. I felt bad for the people in the stadium. I mean who paid off the money they spent?

I saw one guy dressed up as George Washington? Yeah. One guy dressed up as George Washington. I'm like, that guy has to leave like that. But I will say this. They didn't. There was some incredible moments, and I honestly feel like I. I really feel like Belgium didn't dominate the whole game. I feel like. What game are you watching? Great moments. Okay, I watched it, but this is my thing. I was like, definitely shocked. Shocked me. But we definitely. Our forwards weren't playing awful. I felt bad for a couple of the players because they were doing great. We had just. Majority of the players. No, we were watching the same one.

Some of them, even JJ when we were on the family.

Too hard. Yeah, I know.

No, no, no. When you. You're in that position and you're losing four to one like that. But like, even JJ said, like, the players just. It looked like people were touching soccer balls for the first time. Like, Javen, how he was saying, like, that was easy. How they're touching them all.

Boo. That was. I will. And even when the guy thought he hurt his ankle and he kicked the other guy's ankle and look it.

I know.

[Bri]

They're amazing. They're great. It was very sad to lose that way at the end of the fourth of July weekend. But can we just talk about then? The team that blew my mind and I'm praying they go to the finals and they take the World cup now that USA is out. Norway, that Norway versus Brazil game. I have not felt nerves like that towards the end of the game in so long. I couldn't even sit down. I was like, just. I was crazy. Nerves. I was so happy. Can I play? Brie? Everyone's voice.

[Nikki]

Yeah, but can I just tell you, Norway dominated that game. I was shocked. Brazil barely got shots on goal, but I will say, Norway's goalie crushed at that game. I've never been the type to, like, scan a QR code. I scanned the QR code to vote for him as MVP of that game.

Oh, he for sure is. Well, didn't you see what I put in my IG stories? Offense wins games, but defense wins championships. And it was a photo of him.

Vomit.

[Bri]

Vomit. First of all, Nike made that up for a reason. Because, yeah, babe, defense takes the gold home. Offense gets praised. But let's just remember. Let's remember the USA goalie on Monday. Yeah, defense can lose real bad for you. They want to. Okay, you guys, I have to play this voice note. So my brother is obsessed with Neymar. So when Norway was beating them, and this is so bad, my brother still has not responded to this, and I don't think Mateo and I sent him. Jay, we know you're gonna get mad at this, but, Tayo, what'd we come up with? Neymar's sore loser.

I can say Neymar is to put

loser, because when he started, like, you know, Brie, you remember those times when you're, like, losing the game. You see the clock running out so frustrating. And then when he starts pushing everyone, he was just so frustrated. So Mateo and I started to come up with all these sayings of him being a sore loser, and we sent it to J.J. but I knew, just because I talked to J.J. before the game, that that's his player, his favorite.

[Nikki]

Oh, that's his favorite player. But I was like, dang. I guess he's like, if I'm gonna lose, I'm gonna lose. Swinging like he was. He definitely got towards the end, very aggressive.

[Bri]

Wow. Sore loser.

[Nikki]

But your man Holland did. Yeah, he. He's such a star. It's wild.

[Bri]

That's. I hope they win the World Cup. I am. Now I'm full Norway. I am so for them. I want them to win. I want that group to do the Viking row when they hold up the World cup trophy. And when they let him hit the drums, the chills all over my body still, when I'll watch it, I still get chills.

[Nikki]

It's incredible, right? So I showed Brian that with Holland, like, hitting the drums, that whole Viking row. And Brian loved it. I was like, if you were still wrestling, we could get the whole arena doing the Viking row, dude.

[Bri]

Oh, my gosh. That would be so cool. Even Mateo was on the couch, and then he was sitting out. But we all. We kept doing the Viking row. You know, it was really funny. Is. Did you watch the Australian game before that? Like, poor Australia. I was like, oh, that's sad for them. They get beat bad, but not bad. They lost in PKs, but they. It was. Their team did terrible. Like, I was like, oh, that was a rough loss. All the fans are like, we traveled across the world. I'm just kidding. But that was, like, the look on their face. But Mateo and I kept sending videos to Grayson because, you know, Grayson. WWE Grayson is from Australia. And so he. You know how Mateo. That's one of his favorite teams. So we kept sending him videos. I have to actually show you. It's so cute. And then Grayson would send Mateo back a video. And then we totally thought, okay, Australia will take it. That's fine. Like, they're gonna win the PKs and then I just. Even Mateo's face was like. So then he sent one after. He's like, that's fine. I'll root for us. And then when USA lost, Grayson goes, so now who do we root for? Because this is just bad. Vikings. Isn't that funny?

The Vikings. Well, let's talk about the greatest game that people feel like they have seen so far in the World cup is England versus Mexico.

[Bri]

That was like a World cup final. And I feel so bad for the Mexican people, but that game was incredible. You know, Mexico first. England's really hard on me because I love England a lot because of the game of soccer, and I just. I. I love their players. But that game, I. I felt so bad for Mexico because they played amazing, but damn, that England goalie doesn't even look real. He's so good.

I know.

I mean, well, Kane's good.

[Nikki]

Even though Mexico was down, how fast they were moving the ball to get in there, all their opportunities. Yeah. I was just like, wow. Like, they didn't give up. They didn't, like, sulk or kind of be, like, bummed. Like, they were like, no, we're winning this to where you almost thought they were going to. But, yeah, that was. That was really incredible. I feel like anyone who, like, wants to be, like, I don't know, like, do I want to watch soccer or not? Go back and watch that game, because you will be blown away. Why people are. Love soccer. Love the game of soccer. Love that game showed.

So good that forward for Mexico. Why can't I think of his name? But he's so good and so cute, but so good. That's the thing, is there's so many cute soccer players. Yeah, well, like, fun to watch, like, for both ways. Because I'm like, wow, there's so many hotties. We'll start D later when we talk about our dms. We're gonna have to talk about how dramatic, though, they are.

So it was interesting this week we ran into a situation with Birdie, which I'd love to hear actually your thoughts on it and what you would do in this situation because I was a little torn and I went more with what Brian wanted. But you know, Birdie started a camp and when Brian picked her up last night because I was at the beach with some family friends and we got all the kids together. So I was off with Buddy doing that and Brian texts me and he goes, birdie's in tears. We'll talk later. But awful day at camp. And I'm like, oh no. So we, you know, talk to Birdie and literally Brian. And Brian could tell when he walked up, he could, you know, when like a kid's Trying not to cry, but, like, holding it together. And Brian instantly was like, okay, something happened, and gets in the car. And then you just feel so comfortable. Like, it all came out just bawling, crying. But of course, dealt with the mean girl, like, someone who constantly was making fun of her. And so when we were talking last night, she's like, I just don't want to go back to camp. It's like torture. I don't want that girl to make fun of me. She made fun of me the whole time. And I was like, oh, my gosh. And, you know, this was Verdi's first time trying. Like, we had a bad experience a couple years ago with the soccer camp, and. But she pushed through. I'm like, just, can you push through? Like, I get it. Soccer is not your thing. You don't like sports, but maybe you can cheerlead and root everyone on. Which she did. And then they made a cute little award for her, like, best cheerleader of the Week. It was cute. So she finally wanted to try another sport. And so Brian and I were just like. Brian's like, I just feel like Birdie isn't athletic yet. Maybe it will come. So then you're looking at, she's the slowest on the team, then doesn't have the coordination. She's a target to be made fun of. And then the minute one person does it, all these other kids will do it. So I didn't have her go today because, you know, I don't want her to have anxiety. But I also told her, I'm like, bird, your whole life, you're going to deal with a mean person life. There's never a time where mommy felt like it was smooth sailing and someone wasn't giving me a hard time. I'm like, still, at my age, I will deal with mean people. I'm like, I don't want you to feel like every time someone's being mean, we run from the situation. I do feel like sometimes we need to build the confidence and the courage to stand up to our bullies, and even not, we don't have to be mean like them. But even to be like, it's not okay that you speak to me like that. It's not okay that you make fun of me. But she really did not want to do that. And so Brian's like, bri, I really feel like she should stay home. I kind of felt a little different, but I was like, okay, you know, I. I don't want to push her to do it, but, like, what would you do? In that situation, because I kind of feel like you're me, but maybe you're more like Brian. I don't know.

I would totally be more like Brian in that situation. This is my thing. It's. It's not like, you know, Birdie playing tennis.

Like, she.

She already knows she doesn't really like it, and it's not for her. So, like, why push her to finish out the week when she's. It's not going to move? It's not like she's conquering a bully to do what she loves. Do you know what I mean? She's not at doing art stuff that we know Birdie's amazing at, and she's conquering this one girl for me. And also, like, I feel like we've seen too many stories of people who've pushed their kids, and then their kids start to hide things or it just makes Chris starts to create trauma. And I'm like, why? Why not protect our kids from it? You know what I mean? And so I'm like, more with Brian. Like, I know at least if it was Mateo and he asked. He. If he, like, straight up asked me, like, mom, I don't want to go. Like, I. I would be like, you're not then, no, you don't have to go. Because when they're telling you, it's like they're telling you. Do you know what I mean? They are.

And let's be honest, Birdie's not the person to, like, go at it with a kid. She's just not. That's not her.

Also, I feel like our jobs. And I was telling Brian this after she went to sleep, I go, brian, I also feel like, especially me, who's the woman? And Birdie's a girl. I go. I feel like it's my job to make her stronger, to have her believe in herself and get the courage to feel like she won't put up with that shit. I'm like, I. It kills me because I think to myself, if Birdie ever wanted to go to college or art school or when she leaves our house at 18, I go, it will make me lose sleep at night being like, well, she. Is she strong enough to defend herself? Like, to stand up for herself? Like, there's going to be so many times we're not there, Brian. And there's probably so many times she hasn't told the situations. And I just want to give her all the tools to, like, be brave enough to handle this situation.

But I feel like there are moments that you. You'll have to give her those tools. And you already have. And I do feel there's times where Birdie has stood up for herself. Like, I feel like she's done that with some girls and boys when she hits a certain point. But I feel like, hey, I suck at sports and I know it. Like, why do I have to be in this situation? And like, those are the times where. That's why I think of Brian. And then I agree with you. But you also have to, like, I think, look at the person. Like, you and I, we were always very strong little girls and women, right? Like, we just were Birdie's. Not that at all. So I feel like you have to look at it differently than how you did things. And I do think there are going to be so many moments, and I've already seen it where you've had those times with her where you push like through school and stuff, where you have her, you teach her to be strong and stick up for herself. But for that. No that kind of thing.

Well, tennis is a no go. I mean, and like, it kills me just in the sense of, like, I was hoping it would be a good experience for her. But you know, it's funny because I have Buddy, who's the complete opposite. Like, I didn't even tell you this, Nicole, but the other day on the pier, I'm like sitting and you know, like the distance between where we sit at the beach and the pier, and I'm like watching Buddy, and all of a sudden I see him go nose to nose with an 8 year old. And I go to our cousins and I go, is Buddy arguing with a kid right now? And they're like looking, they go, oh, yeah, he's about to fight. And I'm like, do I do something? They're like, well, let's see how it plays out. So the eight year old. So they're nose to nose, and I see him going like this, like. And they're both boys, fists are like this. And I go, oh, my gosh. So the boy pushes Buddy. Buddy swings at him. He like move moves back. So then Buddy runs and then pushes him. And I'm like, what the. So, you know, our cousins were like, wait, wait, wait, let's. They're Boys. And then I see them kind of talk from a distance, and then next

to scary with the boat right there.

But, yeah, well, there wasn't any. Then, you know, he all of a sudden let Buddy, like, then do the stuff with them. They were, like, closer, down by the sand. But that's how I was freaking out. And it took our two guy cousins to be like, bri, because I was about to sprint, like, I didn't know what was happening. And I'm like, next. You know, I don't need Buddy getting in a brawl on the pier. And they're like, no, no. These are boys being boys just to let it. And I'm like, I can't even watch. But the dad was close by. He just kind of. The boy's dad let it go. And then Buddy came over, like, 30 minutes later, and I'm like, did you get a fight in the pier with the boy? He's like, well, he said, I couldn't touch his stuff. And I said, well, I'm not touching it. I'm just looking at minnows. And then he got in my face. So I got in his face, and I'm like, I saw the whole thing, bud. I'm like, next time, just like, it doesn't need to escalate. Just be like, okay, I'm sorry, or something, or walk away from the situation. But that's not Buddy. Like, he's.

I mean, he stands up for himself constantly. I get more worried that it escalates. The way I saw it the other day on the pier, where Birdie's, like, the complete opposite, and it's just wild. Like, they can be the same DNA but completely different kids. It's crazy to me. And you have to parent completely different to each one. It's, like, mind blowing to me.

[Bri]

Yeah, it is, right? I. This past weekend, I saw Teo stick up for himself a few times. And I just stood back, and I was like, oh, he has it in on, like, he gets pushed around a little bit. They were all chasing these bubbles. Yeah. And he even did it to the point where. And it was an older boy, where they had already had their pushing thing. And I was just sitting back, and then the kid was doing his own thing, bubbles. And Mateo runs by, and I saw him watch.

He waited.

Then he goes run where the boy goes. And he puts his arm like this,

and he goes to the back of him.

And the kid, like, looked like him. Mateo's running, looking at him like, mm. I was like, oh. I mean, like, you just was wanting to get the last of it. And then you were like, yep.

Oh, yeah.

So he has.

I mean, that's.

That, like, made me happy to see, you know what I mean?

Right. And if it wasn't for our guy cousins being with me, I would have went over there and. But, you know, they're like, bri, they're boys. This is what they have to do. Like, the language they speak, especially when they're younger, is like, this is how they do it. And you want them to be able to do this. And then he goes. And look at now, they're like, pretty much catching minnows together. He's like, all they needed is what to let each other know where they stand. And he goes, now, like, they're cool. And I'm like, yeah, I. It's just we're not boys. So I'm like, I don't know how this is.

Yeah, well. And it's like, I understand that part, but sometimes don't you feel like majority of the time, you go and correct it because a parent. Their parents. It's actually not even because of the boys. It's more because of the parents. Do you ever feel that?

For sure? You don't want the parents to think you're a bad parent. Like, you don't give a right when

you're just trying to let them experience.

Yeah, right. When I didn't see a parent go over there, I'm like, okay, I can't be like, I'm not going to be the one then in a way. And thank goodness I was talked about back from not going over there. But I agree with you. I feel like a lot of times we do that just so we can, you know, show the parents, like, we care. Like, look at. I discipline my kid. I discipline them. Right? Yeah, I. For sure. I always. I always feel that pressure with Buddy. Never with Birdie, but with Buddy, I'm always like, anxiety. But even, you know, he's just. Yeah, he's so fearless. It was funny because I know I told you this last night, but our family friends that were with us, they're like, buddies. Nicole's kid. Am I the for refusing to give a toast at my sister's wedding? Ooh, let's hear this. I want to be clear that I am not making this up. And I wish I was. My sister and I have always been close. Three years apart told each other everything. Her fiance proposed eight months ago and she asked me to be her maid of honor. I said yes without hesitating. Two weeks before the wedding, I found messages on my husband's phone by accident. Not snooping. His phone was on the counter and a preview came up while I was standing there. I picked it up thinking it was nothing. It was my sister. The messages made it very clear this had been going on for at least several months. Oh, I already have chills. One message from her said she felt guilty but could not stop. Another from him said he did not want to hurt anyone. I did not say anything to either of them immediately. I needed a few days to process what I was even looking at. I told my mom who already knew she had found out a month earlier and stayed quiet because she did not want to ruin the wedding. I called my sister and told her I knew. She cried, apologized, and begged me not to say anything until after the wedding. Said she had ended it and wanted to start fresh with her husband. I told her I would not be standing up there giving a toast pretending everything was fine. She is telling everyone I'm trying to ruin her wedding over a misunderstanding. My mom is backing her up. Extended family is now involved. My husband wants to work things out. I have not decided anything yet about my marriage, but I know. But I know I am not giving that toast. Am I the huh? Holy? I couldn't. That I. That's like, can't even fathom it. I don't know how you do that to blood related people. People that you're supposed to love unconditionally. And then the fact that the mom knew and goes after the wedding. Why is anyone talking about after the wedding? So after she walks down the aisle and, like, marries someone, then you guys are all gonna, like, say, like, oh, by the way, she's having an affair with this person. This. That is so backwards. Right? And earlier we were talking about, like, parenting. That mom's a bad parent. Bad parenting.

And I love how it ended with, yeah, what the world gets is 48 nations meet to play one game. And it just shows the unity, and it gave me chills, and I was like, what a beautiful commercial. And it's for you from your girl who I love to rest in peace, but Jane Goodall. And I was like, this is so briny right now. And I know I sent it to you late last night, but here's the quote. It actually doesn't take much to be considered a difficult woman. That's why there are so many of us. And the quote hit me hard, because sometimes, you know, things we say and we feel like we have to explain. I feel like this is a. It's a lot of women. And it's just so funny how immediately you're considered difficult When I'm like, can we. And you and I will say this. Can we look at the larger picture here. So, because I care about my work, because I want it to be the best, because I want to give my all and I want to give more to a company that pays me or to this company I run, or this as a parent, whatever it is, I'm. I'm considered a difficult woman. I mean, well, so be it. But that. When that popped up, I was like, damn, that's us.

That's us. I mean, I feel like a lot of times when I've had strong opinions or when I say certain things and sleep, people consider me like, oh, she's like, bitchy hahaha. Or like, difficult hahaha. Or all these. And it's like, wait, what? No, it's just like we're all granted our own opinions and thoughts and can voice them whenever the f we want. And it doesn't mean you're difficult or even when you have boundaries. Like, I feel like a lot of times when we set boundaries, people think that's difficult. And I've seen people get praised for it. And not that. Like, I want to say, like, you see, men get praised for it, but it's hard not to say it. And I.

But they, yeah, things are slowly changing. They're not. But like, I don't see men make headlines for, like, stupid. It's rare. Like, they have to do some big time to make a headline.
