Mardi Gras is a centuries old tradition, which we kind of assumed maybe. Right. That dates back to the Middle ages. It was initially celebrated by European Christians as a way to mark the beginning of Lent and to prepare for the fasting period of Easter. So Fat Tuesday, which is Mardi Gras, was where we're gonna eat everything bad because we're about to fast till Easter.

And us, I think it would be only Americans made it all about titties. Titties and beads. I mean, I never knew. Now I feel weird ever till today that Marty Gro was in fact, Tuesday was the beginning of Lent and was a meaning of like, let's as good people so eat just good food. Well, actually fats like before. Because before you fill your body with good fats before you fast.

I'll admit. I just thought it was a party that started in the French Quarter just over time. And that's just what I always thought.

You go, yeah. And maybe they all know in New Orleans, they know the meaning, you know, the tradition. And I guess it makes sense because New Orleans has such the French influence and when the Europeans came over, so I guess that makes sense.

They're like, we're going to have a lot of fun because we're going to forget. Forgiven.

Yeah.

And hopefully.

See, probably what it was is they came over and then we had. What's it called when we. We weren't allowed to drink for a period of time?

We had Prohibition. So then they probably snuck it. But then they got drunk, and then their Fat Tuesday turned into what we know now as Mardi Gras, man. And then we just turned it into beads and boobies, which is obviously, I. I feel like if you're in New Orleans, it does have so much more meaning. They do more traditional stuff.

Yeah. Who look at it for that. But, you know, speaking of Lent, because it is so big with us and what we do every year, what are you going to give up this year?

So I feel bad, but I feel like I always am a little vain with what I give up. And I think that's not good. Like, I instantly go like, okay, I've been eating a lot of sweets, so I should give up sweets. But I feel like that's not.

[Brie Bella]

It's always been a diet for me.

[Nikki Bella]

Always been a diet. But I think we miss the purpose.

So what I'm doing, actually, so, you know, mom introduced me to that Halo app. Oh. And it's crazy because I love that Halo. A lot of celebrities now on there, like Gwen Stefani, Mark Wahlberg, like, a lot of big people.

Didn't Mark Wahlberg start it? Wasn't he a part of the. Like to start it? Or was he just the first influencer to promote it?

[Nikki Bella]

Oh, I don't know. The first one I ever saw was Gwen Stefani over the holidays. But mom had already told me before, but I told myself, they're doing, like, A challenge on there, prayer challenge. And, and I feel like that's what I need to do more for Lent is join something more like that. Like maybe give up the ice cream too. And so maybe I have a fun fat Tuesday, but give up something which that's kind of fun, then bring in something.

So. But we should. What are you gonna do?

[Brie Bella]

Well, I. What I love is the past few years, you, mom and I have always spoken about bringing in something whether it's more prayers or something that is religious or faith based. So for me, I, I actually haven't put thought into it yet. I want, I do want to give something up, but something up that isn't diet based that's truly like feels like fasting for the Lord for me. And then lately it's been sweets for me.

Yeah.

[Brie Bella]

But I mean like, okay, so back in the day they fast, you know, and a lot of religions overseas do that for their God or the 40 days. Well meaning that they have their different moments in the year where they fast for their person.

[Nikki Bella]

Right.

[Brie Bella]

And so when you read up on Fat Tuesday was putting good fats in our body because they were about to fast. So I just want to do something where I have to prep that. I know it's going to be healthy, but I don't want to be like no sugar, no alcohol. Like I don't want to make it like a diet for myself because I should have.

Let's do some thing together.

Yeah. So let's think about it. Maybe I. I'm sure we could ask Chat GPT. It probably has great ideas about hurry.

Because Ash Wednesdays just around the corner.

And then, you know, I pray so much so I'll have to really think, you know what I think it'll be is what I think could be fun is either do something with like Bible versus every day or read the Halo app. Yeah. So maybe it's just doing the Halo app.

That's what I feel.

Because I, I pray too. But the Halo apps doing an actual lent like oh, so then maybe let's.

Just do the lint challenge.

Right. Thing and we should actually talk to mom because she does Halo too. I like and I kind of, you know, for me it's like one of those ones that you can hit and put on your in your car while you're getting ready in the morning. So I kind of felt like that would be really good. It's funny because I told myself let's try to listen to different things while driving and instead of always listening to music so I Started to. And I actually. Because, you know, for me, it's a little bit of a drive to the tasting room, and I've really been enjoying it and learning things and just getting more out of my car ride than me, like, singing so loud. So I, you know, I think this would be good for me, too, to, like, kind of plug in, put in my car and.

Yeah, I don't know. I do feel like for the ones that believe in Lent and the meaning of it, I think it's also, like, a really great time to express a lot of gratitude, for sure, because of the meaning of Easter and what that means. So I think that would be something to put into your challenge. I'm sure the Halo app probably has that kind of challenge. But for anyone that's thinking of something, and I know what I want to bring in is showing gratitude, and that's something. Like, I feel like I show gratitude a lot, but then I'll hear of, like, how you should, out loud, be, like, thinking things, and I feel like I could do that more. So maybe that's a challenge for me during Lent is just to express it even more and out loud when I'm by myself for. For the little things. And I love that. Yeah, I do. I think that's great because, I mean, you know, it's.

Is that festival season, Bri?

Yes, it is. And Nikki and I, every year during festival season, always plan a girls trip.

That is right. And so how I feel we plan. The most perfect festival trip is to get on Airbnb and first find the perfect house. Then we could decide which festival to go to.

I mean, honestly. And I think the cool thing is, is that if we find some incredible house where all of us girls can stay, do a little cooking, a little swimming, then maybe I could put up my house and make a little money while I'm spending some money at these festivals.

You see, the coops of all coops is very clean.

You guys have to see this. This is the craziest thing I've seen someone. When you have space of a backyard.

But this is in all fairness to me, I was traumatized because one of my chickens was eaten by.

You have to get used to it. But so think I'm out there, it's dark, I'm trying to get my kids down and I'm like, girls, it's okay. So I just, I left and it was like really laying heavy on me.

The next day I wake up, they're all comfy.

Comfy eggs are laid. I mean, the whole thing. And then now they. They don't do that.

So home. But the home gym is, like, already happening.

California closets is already coming to take. Remove what they did in the dressing room.

I look at longevity and not being scared. So I'm already starting to shift that room. That's already done. Dale signed water filters the next on the list, which, my goodness, not cheap. And then I'm torn between generator or solar panels. And I. I was like, which. Which one should I do first? Generator.

That's what I was thinking out in wine country because they always turn our power off due to wildfires. So that's what I was thinking. Generator. And the good thing is, is I have a smaller home, so, like, I need a just small generator. I don't need a ton of solar panels. And hopefully my water system won't be as expensive as my sister's because my house is a lot smaller than yours.

Well. And I have an old home, so my windows don't insulate really well. But, you know, Brian and I. So the first time.

No, I'm just saying because I know how much your system costs. So I'm just hoping because my house is smaller than yours that it won't.

Be like, yeah, it probably won't be. But the first storm we had in, our power went out. We're like, yes, we have a generator. And the generator wasn't kicking in. They put the battery in wrong, so we had to have them come out. But we're like, our first, like, here is our first, like, ever experience where we can be like, yes, power's up. And then we didn't even work.

But I think that it kind of gives you the how something can be at the bottom.

So I look at it as this. I accept the person I am. I will learn from my mistakes, and that helps me evolve.

And sometimes it's like, it's okay that I'm this way. And then I have to learn, too, to, like, how to be and how to, like, go through the world as this person. And then it just helps you evolve. I don't know.

Well, I feel that it's not just. Even that quote isn't just about who you are as a person, but about situations that come into your journey.
