What up, Breezy?
Nicole
Oh, we are back on her couch with our favorite PSLs.
Nikki
PSLs, baby.
Nicole
My first one of the season.
Nikki
Is it? Yeah. I will admit it's my second.
Nicole
Oh, man. Now that is fall in a cup.
Nikki
Fall in a cup.
Nicole
That is delicious.
Nikki
I know. Well, it's been feeling like fall weather here as of late Napa, but we're about to hit a warm week that's gonna make us feel we're right back in summer.
Nicole
But I know I'll get through it. I got. I'm. I'm loving this weather.
Nikki
Me too.
Nicole
I like sweater weather. I like to layer up. I'm not ready to go back into the Heat.
Nikki
I feel so cozy and cozy. I need that on my days off. And big topic, back to school.
Nicole
Back to school, back to school. Which means back to routines, back to a nice schedule, everyone's sanity is back. You know, it's really interesting.
Nikki
I always enjoy the summer though.
Nicole
Oh, you and I are like that because we like slow mornings, taking our time. We like to have fun with the kids. But Nikki and I thought it'd be really fun to do an episode about back to school and everything going on. But I will say this, I do. Towards the end of the summer I did start to create like crave a routine again.
Nikki
Oh for sure.
Nicole
Getting the kids back into school, then getting my workouts back on track. Like I, I was almost feeling. Getting a little like stir crazy in a way.
Nikki
Totally. Well. And I never really get out of routine because Mateo just summer school or like summer camp, I guess, you know, it's, we tell them camp. It's more like school. So we continue that all through the summer. So for me I kind of feel like it just kind of stays. But I will miss. I did enjoy. This was like my first summer with him where we really enjoyed later evenings and we'd play. We're still doing that. I have to like I've been putting us back in routine of earlier bedtime. But there is something I. And of course I love my slow mornings with him, but I really loved those later evenings with him too. Yeah. Yeah.
Nicole
I mean I'll miss the days with kids now. They didn't do, they did some camps which was fun, but we didn't do summer school at all. But you know, it's like we're up in the mountains so it's hiking and swimming and doing a lot of outdoor stuff which is great and they get worn out. But it is going to bed later. But towards the end I was kind of like, you know, oh, I, I need a little me time. Cuz I'm one of those. I'm like, okay, we're going to be in the mountains for the summer, so I'm going to make jam. I'm going to, you know, do my meditation. I'm going to get my workouts in like you think like it's all a sudden going to be like wellness retreat. I didn't do one thing for me.
Nikki
Yeah.
Nicole
And, and it's because I'm also the person that doesn't wake up before my kids to get it done. My kids are my alarm clock. I can't, you know, so I, I just don't go like I'm not that person. But you know what? We're back to school.
Nikki
We are. Which is always a great.
Nicole
Yeah. Which I love. You know, one thing I noticed, and the moms and I were talking about this the other day, and I'm curious to know if any of our listeners are going through it, but it really seems like it's like the summertime blues with the kids. I felt like this year more than ever, I realized there was a lot of kids that didn't want to go to school. That kind of like, you saw more kids in tears, more kids like, no, Mommy, don't leave. I felt like more than any year, even with my kids. I mean, Buddy, who usually sprints into school was, like, in the car, like, trying to negotiate with me that he needs to be homeschooled so he can be with me all the time. Oh, I know. I mean, did you see that with Matteo at all?
Nikki
Well, I mean, we. Mato's very much like that. Like, even today, there. There's a lot of days he just wants to stay home with mommy and play and, please, I just want to play with my trains. I don't want to go. So he'll ask me. He asks me that a lot. Like, I feel like our kids, if they could have it their way, they'd be with their moms 24 7, doing it all. I mean, even yesterday, how he does all of my errands with me. Like, I had a facial that I couldn't change because my girl, her lit. Her wait list is always so long. So she was cracking up because just like, when I get my eyebrows done, Mato just lays on me and I'll bring his iPad. And he was just. As I'm getting a facial, he's laying on top of me watching.
Nicole
You went in and got a facial iPad.
Nikki
Well, he would, like, flip around and he'd look like, so what are you doing now? And ask, like, so many questions. Especially because think of hydrafacials.
Nicole
Oh, my gosh.
Nikki
I was just holding them as he was, like, watching stuff. Did the same thing. Eyebrow threading. Can I get my eyebrows done? But it's. Yeah, I love it. But I'm like, you. The one thing that I like about school routine is I get my workouts in, I get my me time, I get everything done by three o' clock before pickup, and then we get to have our time, you know?
Nicole
Yeah, well. And I tell you what, like, when I think of teachers, oh, my gosh, they're like, the greatest blessings to parents.
Nikki
I mean, they're beyond.
Nicole
Because even when I think about homeschooling my kids, I can't.
Nikki
I can't do it.
Nicole
I just don't. I have patience. I don't have that kind of patience.
Nikki
Yeah.
Nicole
And I'm someone, like, I like waking up in the morning. I cook my kids breakfast. I get the vitamins out. I make their lunches, getting them dresses. I will say and feels like sometimes it can be so hard because, like, trying to get Buddy to brush his teeth and wash his face, and then we do his hair. And with Bird, it's just like, sometimes no one listens to me.
Nikki
Right.
Nicole
But, like, for me, I love that. And then we get in the car, we listen to our songs and dropping them off, and when I get back into my. The car, it's almost like, you know what I mean? It feels so good, even though, like, love my kids to death. But, like, I enjoy dropping them off and knowing that they're going in to.
Nikki
Learn well, and they have fun and they're playing and they're doing, you know, they're. They're doing all the things, which is great. They're eating. They're doing it all, you know, And I'm so blessed for the teachers because, like, today I brushed Mateo's hair before he went into school, and that was, like, game over for him. He got so mad at me. But then the teachers, thank goodness they showed him the great ways of brushing hair, and, like, they made it a lesson for him. And then they sent me a text, and it changed his mood. And so I am so blessed for them because it is funny how your kids will listen to, like, teachers differently. Like, okay. Oh, for sure. You know what I mean?
Nicole
I'll never forget, you know, because everyone knows, like, all the ups and downs I've had with Buddy and how wild he is, but I remember they were like, listen, the worst he'll be for is you.
Nikki
Yeah.
Nicole
Like, he. He's not like that with anyone else. Now, granted, he does have his moments where he'll act out, but they're like, he. He's like, you know, when they'll go through his report with me, I'm like, oh, my gosh. Yeah. Wow. Oh, my gosh.
Nikki
That's cute.
Nicole
Yeah. And they're like, you know, kids are better with other adults and teachers. And so. Which makes me feel good. I want him to give me his worst because it's my son.
Nikki
Well, and they. Unconditional love. Right. We tend to give people our worst, for sure.
Nicole
But sometimes I'm, like, blown Away. Like, this morning, I said, because we had a guest at our house. I'm like, don't open because we have this, like, kitchen door, so I can.
Nikki
Yeah.
Nicole
You know, block off from the rest of the house. I go, don't open it, because Winston will run and wake up our guest. What does he do? Opens it and stares me deep into my eyes, letting my soul know that he is doing exactly what I don't want him to do. And he didn't even do it fast. He did it, what felt like in slow motion, slowly opened the door, staring at me, and then kept walking. And then I go, if you're going to your room, you need to do tiptoes. And he just sprints hard.
Nikki
Oh, my gosh.
Nicole
I literally was like, what? And Brian. We were FaceTiming with Brian, and he was literally like. I go, why? Like, why did he just want to, like, piss me off?
Nikki
Yeah.
Nicole
Do you know what I mean?
Nikki
Yeah.
Nicole
I'm like, I just cooked him eggs, cut up some fresh fruit, put out his vitamins. Like, listening to music. Like, we were having a good morning. Like, why did he pretty much have to give me the bird?
Nikki
Yeah.
Nicole
And just be like, what are you gonna do now? Oh, if we didn't have a guest in the house, I was like, I would have yelled.
Nikki
I feel like. Yeah, right. I feel like 5 is been where Matos really likes to test me.
Nicole
Girl. I said, terrible twos. I said, like, no, but I see.
Nikki
I never had terrible twos or threes. Five, for me, has been the most where he, like, thinks about what I just said, and then he's like, I'm actually not going to listen. I'm going to test her and see what she does. Like, I. I see it.
Nicole
Yeah.
Nikki
Even when we go out scooting and I'm teaching them about cars and roads and. And he'll test me, and I'm like, it's just crazy, the things that I'm.
Nicole
Like, you knew, like.
Nikki
You know what I just said? Like, so someone at school taught him, what the hell?
Nicole
Oh, wow.
Nikki
Oh, yeah.
Nicole
Oh, my God.
Nikki
So that's school, right? So when he said it, I got shocked. So he saw my reaction, which.
Nicole
That's all they want.
Nikki
That's all they want. And I said, you can say what the heck, but you cannot say what the hell. So there'll be moments where he wants my attention, and he'll go, what the hell? And then I'll look, and he'll be sitting there smiling, knowing. And then he'll.
Nicole
What?
Nikki
He picked up on too. And I'm like, I don't know where, but he'll, you know forever. He would always say, oh, my goodness, Remember? And now I'll say, oh, my God. And I go, no, we aren't. We can't say oh my God. So I was like breaking it down to him yesterday, why we don't say God's name in vain. And I'm like, you know, Mateo, it's kind of like the feeling if you were to be like, oh, my mommy. Oh, see how that kind of feels negative. Oh, so guess what?
Nicole
Oh, yeah. Now it's all the time.
Nikki
Oh, my mommy. Haha. Oh, my mom. So then I go, oh, my Teo. But now he laughs. He thinks it's so funny. But I'm like, okay, as long as he's saying, oh my mommy, not oh my God.
Nicole
Nikki, why is it that every time 4pm comes around, I feel like I'm scrambling to make dinner? It's like I never know what I'm gonna make, what's in my fridge. I feel always lost and confused around dinner time.

Nicole
Oh, my gosh. The idea of cooking a big meal, Overwhelming. And you also don't feel like waiting an hour for delivery.

Find it all for way less@wayfair.com that's W-A-Y-F-A-I-R.com Wayfair. Every style, every home. But it is. It's funny. This has been, like, the few weeks where he's picked up things like that, and I need to learn about my reactions, because I give the big reactions, and he loves it.
Nicole
Oh, yeah.
Nikki
So now when he wants my attention, he'll, like, sit, say things. Oh. And then another word he picked up.
Nicole
What.
Nikki
How does he put him? What is he putting in the sentence? Oh, are you me?
Nicole
Oh, damn.
Nikki
And I go, what?
Nicole
That kind of could be something you've said.
Nikki
I actually think so. And I go, you cannot say you. You're me. You say, kidding me?
Nicole
Yeah.
Nikki
And so he'll moments again when he wants my attention. Are you me? And gives me just a big smile.
Nicole
Oh, yeah.
Nikki
And I'm like, dude, no, no.
Nicole
Well, you know what I did is Buddy thinks the F word is fox. And when he'll say fox, I go. And so he just will be like. And I'll be like. And he thinks he's saying a bad word, but he's saying an animal.
Nikki
Right.
Nicole
So the joke's on him. Yeah, but I'm like, you know, I. It's weird. You give a big reaction to something, and then they will do it and do it.
Nikki
Oh, my gosh.
Nicole
But. And even Birdie, it's funny because she'll give Buddy a big reaction, and that's all he needs from bird, too.
Nikki
Oh, yeah.
Nicole
But like, this morning, someone. Okay, we wake up, we're getting to the. Like, to the kitchen. Yeah. So they both, like, want to lay on the couch.
Nikki
Yeah.
Nicole
And I was like, okay. But they're right next to each other. Out of the whole room. Elbows, shoulders are touching.
Nikki
Yeah.
Nicole
Don't touch me. Don't touch me. And I'm like, there's a couch, chairs, your bedrooms. Why are you guys right next to each other if you don't want to touch each other? And then they're like, well, I was here first. Like, you know, whoever. I don't know who was there first.
Nikki
Yeah.
Nicole
But I'm like, oh, my gosh, can you both get up and go figure, find something to do. So Birdie grabs Zingo, and then Buddy starts crying. I wanted Zingo. And I'm like, you didn't, actually. I asked if you wanted a board game, and you told me no.
Nikki
Yeah.
Nicole
So then he starts to build with these blocks. Then Birdie wants to build. Then I literally was trying not to lose my mind this morning. All while I have a guest.
Nikki
Yeah.
Nicole
So, you know, I have to. You know, when we have people around.
Nikki
You got to keep your cool, keep the smile.
Nicole
You'll be like, kens, kids. Really? Where I want to be like, Buddy, Birdie. But, like, I was, like, watching them, and I'm like. And I. Brian on FaceTime, because, you know, he's out of town right now, and he. We're, like, looking at each other, and I'm like, like, I. Why? Like, why everyone? I told him. I go, you guys are making your lives harder right now. Yeah, you're making it. Why? We don't need this. I'm like, let's just start. We started off good. We were all cuddling each other in the bed. And then now. Let's not go to school with this type of, like, you know, whatever.
Nikki
Totally.
Nicole
Well, energy.
Nikki
That's why I'm one and done. I feel like at this age and chaos to have then on top of it all, the sibling fighting.
Bri
It's.
Nikki
Yeah. I mean, look, but I would. I would have done it, but I was gonna say, obviously.
Nicole
And it's more love than.
Nikki
Of course.
Nicole
It's just the fighting is hard. I mean, I look at how you and I used to fight.
Nikki
No, I agree.
Nicole
And now we'd fight with jj.
Nikki
Yeah. Like, siblings, they get at it.
Nicole
But we loved each other more than the fighting.
Nikki
Well, it's like Buddy Mateo, how they are with each other than other kids.
Nicole
And Buddy, again, full on brothers at soccer practice was like, where's Mateo? And I'm like, he just. He kind of feels this isn't for him this season. And he goes, what? Mateo? You know, he says Mateo's name.
Nikki
Yeah.
Nicole
And. But yeah, it's like they want to be next to each other. Exactly.
Nikki
Who he and birdie are 100.
Nicole
I mean, it's like, wow. But then what's cute is, like, the love. The love when they will play together.
Nikki
Honestly, I wish Mateo had a sibling like Mateo would. How he plays. Like, he would love to have someone here with him. Always playing.
Nicole
Yeah.
Nikki
And, like, doing co parenting and, like, two homes It'd be amazing for him to have a sibling to go back and forth with.
Nicole
Yeah.
Nikki
It was so funny, because the other day, before he was going to sleep, he goes to me, he goes, my grandparents, they like eggs with so much salt. And I'm like, oh, you don't like eggs with a lot of salt in here?
Nicole
Gosh, I do. Yuck.
Nikki
No. And I'm like, well, actually, eggs are very good for you. And he's like, but not a lot of salt.
Nicole
In the world. I mean, granted, like, I don't want it, like, dunked in there, but I love me. My eggs need the sea salt.
Nikki
Yeah. Well, he. It's. It's just what I've been loving is, like, the things kids just say. You know what I mean?
Nicole
Cutest stuff.
Nikki
It's the cutest stuff.
Nicole
Like.
Nikki
And like, I was telling you, you know, with Mateo, because he'll all of a sudden be like, did you know avocados come from Mexico and this and that. And he just, like, will say, spit some facts towards me where I'm like, it's my fave.
Nicole
Well, like, Buddy, he was in a speech class, and he told the teacher, he was like, I want to be homeschooled. I'm bored. And I was like, okay, well, what'd she say back to you? And I'm thinking, like, I bet she hit him with some good, like, inspiration. He, like, looked at me and he goes, she said I'm the worst. Which we know that's not true.
Nikki
Yeah.
Nicole
Buddy calls everyone the worst. Like, when he's mad at me, he goes, you're the worst mama ever. And I'm always, like, ignoring him when he says that.
Nikki
Yeah.
Nicole
And then he'll sometimes will go to Birdie and go, am I the worst brother ever? He just will say this, and he'll call Birdie the worst sister. She won't let him in his room. So him saying that, I knew instantly his teacher did not say that.
Nikki
Oh, yeah.
Nicole
But it's so funny. Like, Brian and I are just like, this kid.
Nikki
Yeah.
Nicole
Like, you know, it's so weird how different Birdie and Buddy are.
Nikki
Yeah.
Nicole
Like, Birdie, but, you know, so, so different. But, you know, I got this letter from Birdie the other night. Oh, he's on my pillow.
Nikki
I can only imagine.
Nicole
And she was like, dear Mama, I just don't feel like I belong. I feel like if I was homeschooled and with you all day, that would be the way for me to go. Sadly, Birdie, I was like, I took a picture and I sent it to Brian.
Nikki
And what did he say?
Nicole
Well, you know him. He's like, oh, my gosh. Like, then he starts to think. I go to him, brian, I. I'm going to talk to her. Because I had, you know, that event. So she was already asleep. So she woke up the next morning, and I was like, I got your letter. And I go, bird, what is it? And she's like, oh, gosh, I forgot I wrote that. She's like, I was having a moment. And I'm like, well, what was your moment? And, you know, we ended up talking. And it was because she was like, well, the teacher thought I was the one talking in class, and I was just answering someone's question. I'm like, bird, the way Mommy even wants structure in the house. And sometimes, like, bird, you're not listening to me. I just asked you three times to.
Bri
Get ready for school.
Nicole
I know you don't like being rushed. You know, I'm like, I still love you. You're still one of the greatest kids. Like, yeah, I. So we, like, talked through it, and then now she's good. She's obsessed with school and all her friends. Like, she's living her best life.
Nikki
Oh, she's so.
Nicole
Even though. Yeah. They started PE today.
Nikki
Oh.
Nicole
So at breakfast this morning, she's like, we're starting PE and they said we might go two days a week. That seems like a lot of workout, right? It's like, Bird, she's hilarious.
Nikki
I love it.
Nicole
Oh, my gosh. It's just like, she. And then I look at Buddy, who, before we get to class, he's the kid who's running, sprinting back and forth. Needs to get all this energy out. I'm always, like, looking at him, like, and, you know, I'm the mom screaming in the parking lot. Like, look both ways. Because he just takes off running. He leaves me all the time.
Nikki
That's so funny.
Nicole
I know. And then sometimes I'm like, buddy, I have your lunch, your water bottle.
Nikki
That's so cute.
Nicole
Yeah. Which I'd rather have that than, like, you know, oh, my gosh. Not wanting to go into class, but.
Nikki
Oh, for sure. You know, what I really love with Mateo is he just loves being outside so much. Like, we literally spend our evenings, which has increased, though here I was, like, rarely drinking, but now I'm finding myself having a glass of wine, like, every other night, because the evenings are so gorgeous here. And Mateo loves to be out there till almost the sun goes down. So I get my glass of wine, we're out There we're scooting, we're going to the park, we're playing. We're just out there and like to have a glass of wine when the weather gets a little chilly. I told you. Like, there's that Pinot Noir that I found that I really was enjoying. So I've been like sitting, sipping that. And it's been one of the first ones where I. It's on day three and I could still get a glass out of it. And it doesn't taste vinegary. Yeah. So one bottle I get. I. And I only do a glass because it's really all I'm in the mood for.
Nicole
Right.
Nikki
But I just. I love, love that about him. And we've been. And he's. And I know in my head I gotta get all that energy out before we go to bed, but it's been really cute too, because in med, he will also make sure, like, mommy, you need to keep holding me. Mommy, I need you closer on my side. It's really cute because the past few weeks he's been very ultra. I mean, Matteo already. We know mama's boy. But ultra cuddly, ultra loving. Like, all the things I love that. I know. Me too. It's been really cute, but I've just really have been enjoying. Like, I just love our evenings and our mornings. And then it's so nice when you get like the good feedback from school and.
Nicole
Oh, it's so good.
Nikki
It's just such a great. It's been just such a great time of year. It's back to school, all of it. It's been really, really good. So. Right.
Nicole
And the one thing I do realize, boys love their mama's heart. I mean, every morning, love their mom. I wake up to Buddy coming in, cuddles me. He gives me all these kisses on my face. And this is when I get. You're the greatest mama ever. Ever. All in the morning, just.
Nikki
Oh, the morning are just so cute. Well, the girl who does my facials, because she has a son too. So she was just like, just going off on like, how similar and just we're like. Boys love their mommy's heart. You know what, though? He did the other night and he thought it was so funny. I was grabbing his pajamas and I turned around and we both. I. I took a shower. He took a bath. You know how, like, we'll do that? Last night I made him take a shower with me because let him play outside too late. And I said, if you don't get in by a certain time, I've told you this. You don't get to take a long bath. You have to take a shower. We still have to make bedtime. So it was a few nights ago. I'm, like, going to grab his pajamas, and I turn and he did a double titty twister. Oh, my God.
Nicole
Brain.
Nikki
Oh, the shock. The feeling that went through my body. And I was like, mateo, no. And I didn't want to make him upset before bed. I go, baby, you have to understand that is so sensitive for mommy. Mommy's boobies are different than yours. But you do not twist her nipples like that. They're still tender for how hard he did it.
Nicole
Yeah, you needed to give, like, that bionic look.
Nikki
But why do they like, yeah, the boy? Oh, I couldn't. I mean, I was so shocked. But isn't it funny how they're always still so attached to, like, the boobies, the butt, the like.
Nicole
I mean, I'll be cooking dinner, and buddy just runs up and puts his nose in my butt, and I'm always like, hey, out of there. And then he laughs and runs away. And I'm like, what in the world? Yeah, yeah. You always see Brian across room shaking his head. I'm like, you probably did it to your mom. And he's like, I doubt it.
Nikki
Like, I'm sure I see boys, like, when I see reals on Instagram and everyone of being with the boy's mom, it's all the same. By the way, how funny was that meme I sent you where it says, if men tell you they're ugly, they're haters. If women tell you they're ugly, they're jealous. If a kid tells you you're ugly, you're ugly.
Nicole
Oh, my God, that was so funny.
Nikki
I was like, it's so true. Why are kids so honest? When mat hits me with, like, things, I'm like, damn. But he's right because, like, he's just being honest.
Nicole
Oh, my gosh. I. I feel like you and I DM each other a lot on the parenting stuff.
Nikki
Like, oh, some are like, just crack me up.
Nicole
Crack me up. I mean, and it's like a. Kind of nice to know. Like, oh, I'm not the only one.
Nikki
100.
Nicole
Do you know what I mean? Like, the one where the. It's the second child, but the two boys are sitting at the table, and now the older boy kind of like, jerked the table into the little one and he, like, cries, but then he, like, all sudden smacks the table and then turns kind of. They have him turn into the hedgehog. And then he like. And like takes the older kid out. But I was, that's Buddy. Like, he goes from zero to a thousand. And like, we've been working on his anger issues and he's actually, Brian and I have been impressed and I'll say. And I really actually want to bring her on the podcast. But you know, Brian and I've been.
Nikki
Kind of talked about this.
Nicole
Yeah. Dr. Becky, we've been using her good inside app. I've been really loving it. It's great, the stuff. But I will say, like, Buddy's anger issues, like, he's been using it. Now he's a little bit of a poor sportsman because he doesn't like losing. So he'll start crying.
Nikki
Yeah.
Nicole
If he loses. And so we've been working on that. But what really helped is watching when he watches football, like actually and sees these grown men now, the spitting thing, I didn't really like Buddy scene. You know, but you know, all the other stuff. And I'm like, look at Bud. Like it's part of the game. And they know they got next week to go out there and do things different, you know, and he's getting that. So it's like I'm actually, I told Brian, I'm like, I kind of want him to watch more sports and see these athletes, like giving it their all. They don't know the outcome of the game. And some are going to win, some are going to lose. And what they do after, not saying every pro athlete gives maybe the best attitude after, but there's a lot that do.
Nikki
Yeah.
Nicole
So. And Buddy, like, you know, he sit there and his eyes are glued to the tv so he's going to take all that in. Oh, for when he's watching these guys.
Bri
I have so many conversations with my husband where we should take the kids. I mean, I feel like traveling with your kids, they really learn history. They get to see what different cultures look like, different cities, towns, mountains, lakes. Traveling is one of the greatest gifts you can really give your kids. And I'm already looking to see what we should do over winter break. I mean, I know Brian thinks I'm crazy, but that's the fun thing about Airbnb. You can make your wish list. I can start to look at cabins. I can start to see maybe do we want to go somewhere warm and get out of the cold? And there's nothing better when you get a house that you can make warm home cooked meals and sit by a fireplace. And it's actually the perfect time for me to Host my place on Airbnb. I mean, hosting your home on Airbnb is such a smart way to make a little extra income. You can put it towards future travel, home improvement, or that fun splurge item you've been eyeing. And I've done the math. The money that I can make hosting puts my family from coach to business class. And it lets us do a couple fun extra activities while we're away. Finding a little piece of home while you travel always makes a trip special. Your home could be that for someone else. Your home might be worth more than you think. Find out how much@airbnb.com SL host Nikki Life can get really busy.
Nikki
Really busy. I mean, I would say it's been busy for all of us. I know. And sometimes we just need to take.
Bri
A breather, sit down, and ask ourselves one very important question.
Nikki
What's that, Bri?
Bri
Have you had your Hershey's?
Nikki
I sure have had my Hershey's, Bri. And you know what? When you need to brighten up your day or even put a smile on your face, grab the classic creamy texture and pure milk chocolate flavor of Hershey's milk chocolate.
Bri
Whether you're eating it on the go, breaking off a few pieces for s' mores night, or treating yourself to something sweet, Hershey's milk chocolate checks all the boxes.
Nikki
It sure does. You want to know what one of my favorite moments with Hershey's chocolate is? Tao and I like, I love it because you know me, I'm chocolate lover. But now I have a son who's a chocolate lover. So we split bars all the time. It's just such a moment for us, a very happy moment. We look at each other, he always ends up getting chocolate all over his face. But it's just such a sweet moment that I find myself always reaching for a Hershey bar. Always.
Bri
I mean, we love making s' mores in my family. So every time I bust out a Hershey bar, my kids start screaming with excitement because they know it's about to be s' more time. So for all of you, shop for Hershey's milk chocolate now at a store.
Nikki
Near you found wherever candy is sold. You know, I was laughing. Sorry. I. Your girl's only three hours of sleep. It's. I could not sleep last night.
Nicole
That's awful.
Nikki
Oh, just laid there. I would go check my phone. I'm like, oh, it's been two hours. It's been three. I'm like, what is going on? Right? I'd. But so I feel like, you know, my throat gets kind of raspy. So Mateo, you know, reheard all the K pop songs.
Nicole
Yeah.
Nikki
Demon Hunters. What do you think was his favorite?
Nicole
Soda pop.
Nikki
No. He's so mean. Golden.
Nicole
Golden.
Nikki
When Mateo listens to things and how he feels things, I'm like, that is my son. Like, I. I knew golden was going to be his favorite, his mommy's, but not. He didn't even know it was my favorite. But how he gets into things, I'm always like. You know, when you just see those things, for sure, it just.
Nicole
Oh, my gosh. Yeah.
Nikki
I don't know why. When you're talking about Buddy right now, that just reminded me of that so much.
Nicole
Yeah, well, I mean, they are. They are apples that fall off our tree. So I look at Buddy and I see a lot of me in him. Birdie. I see a crazy amount of Brian.
Nikki
I mean, it's wild.
Nicole
You know, like this issue we are having with her right now is she's waking up in the middle of night and reading books.
Nikki
Oh, yeah, you were telling me that's crazy.
Nicole
And she wants to. All sudden, it's almost 8 o', clock, and I'm like, like, going in there, and I'm like, bird. And I'm like, did you wake up and read? And she's like, I did, and I finished the book. And she'll tell me all about it. And they're chapter books. And I'm like, I don't want to take books out of her room.
Nikki
No.
Nicole
But at the same time, I'm like, bird, instead of turning on your light and reading, like, you need to figure out a way to get back to sleep. And she's like, but reading helps me get. Get back to sleep. And in her defense, that's true. But that's Brian. Like, Brian will go out to the living room if he can't sleep, and he'll turn on old school wrestling or he'll read a book to get back to sleep. And so I was like, brian, why is it everything Birdie does so you. He's like. So he even says it trips him out.
Nikki
Yeah.
Nicole
And then we go, what? And Buddy. And I'm like, all right, not all Buddy is Brimo. I mean, you guys, he was like, we're listening to this song in the car, and it's like, got. What song was it? I don't. I can't remember. One of these, like, fun songs. He, like, rips off his shirt and chucks it to the front. And I was.
Nikki
By the way, I was on the Phone with you. And you're like, don't take off your shirt. Don't take your shirt, Buddy, why did you take off your shirt? And you hear Birdie, his shirt's off.
Nicole
Yeah.
Nikki
Like, so I'm thinking in my head, like, how is his shirt off?
Nicole
Yeah. Oh, yeah. And just like, woohoo. And like wild. And I'm like, and Brian's the womb, by the way. Since the womb. Because he was wild in my womb. But then I go, I'm so. I'm explaining to Brian about Buddy. I can't remember what song it was. So then Brian, we're FaceTiming, and I'm like, yeah, and I'm talking about the song. So I play the song. What does he do? Jumps up in the air, like, pretty much takes a back bump on the couch. Whips off his shorts and undies, chucks them at me. And then he's like bouncing on the couch. And Brian is like, that's you. Like that. I go, I've never even done that. He's like, that is you. Like your son is you.
Nikki
I love it.
Nicole
And I was like, thinking to myself, I'm going to be terrified when he's in high school, in college.
Nikki
Oh my gosh. Well, Mateo's going to be hanging out with him, so that terrifies me.
Nicole
Hopefully Mateo calms him.
Nikki
But yeah, like my whole life hating, which grateful made me be extra responsible, but because I had to watch out for you.
Nicole
Oh my God.
Nikki
Maybe it will be a good thing. Maybe it'll. It will keep Mateo that way. He'll have to be taking care of Buddy.
Nicole
Yeah.
Nikki
Geez.
Nicole
Oh my gosh.
Nikki
No.
Nicole
I'm gonna really have to educate him on a lot.
Nikki
Yeah, it's so funny too, because I think yesterday too, how a few people were like, when they talked to Mateo, like, so, bud, what's going on? And he's like, what? Because they'll just do natural, like calm Buddy or Bud, like to come. And he gets so confused and he's like, I'm Teo. And they're like, huh? And then I'm like, oh, his kids cousin's name Buddy.
Nicole
Yeah, so you know, that happens in soccer too. And I really had this moment and I'm not lying. And I was standing there and I was like, was it a mistake? We named our son Buddy? And like, I did it for Brian, if everyone wants to know. I really wanted his name to be Forest. And Silo. I had down too. I did this for Brian. But I did have this, like, come to Jesus moment on the soccer field I'm supposed to be coaching. And people are probably like, is she looking awful? The distance. I'm sure I was. And I'm like, was it? But now you look at my son, he looks like a Buddy.
Nikki
He looks like a Buddy.
Nicole
And he's gonna be probably.
Nikki
He is not a forest at all.
Nicole
Which he would be compared to force gun all the time. I know. I didn't think about that.
Nikki
Yeah, well, I just.
Nicole
Why do you have to ruin everything like that? Sounds cute. You know, girl the force gum. Good for him.
Nikki
I mean, he overcame forest is almost cuter now for a girl than a boy, huh?
Nicole
I don't know really, But I was just like thinking to myself, like, damn, Brian, like, did we do a disservice to our son? Well, naming him Buddy.
Nikki
No, I. I like it because it's Brian's dad.
Bri
It's for sure.
Nicole
I mean, definitely Buddy is a Buddy. He does look like he's either Buddy.
Nikki
Or he's a Dennis. Well, Dennis the Menace.
Nicole
He is Dennis the menace. Yeah. 100.
Nikki
So, Bri, I feel like. Because, you know, Buddy gave us that really good interruption the other night, you know, constantly reminding us and telling us how I am just so much more smarter than you.
Nicole
It was just wild that he even.
Nikki
Thinks that, you know, that I just have this incredible intelligence.
Nicole
Buddy, Buddy, quick question.
Bri
Who's smarter, Dodo or Mama?
Nicole
Dodo.
Bri
Why is Dodo smarter?
Nicole
Because she knows everything.
Nikki
No.
Nicole
What makes you think that? That everyone has love. No, everyone does have love.
Nikki
I thought we could play game. It's called juice box geniuses. Because obviously we should, you know, bring it to Buddy's level in a way. So. Because it's back to school time. And Buddy and Mateo, obviously.
Nicole
Wow.
Nikki
Kindergarten this year, which is crazy wild.
Nicole
Birdie's a third grader.
Nikki
This is the last year. Tell all your kids are numbers. Mateo's numbers. It's numbers forever. First, second, all the way up until.
Nicole
I mean, it goes fast.
Nikki
We got. We can't.
Nicole

So you know, we've, I thought, we thought, we all thought this would be really fun to put this to the test. So we're gonna play a game everyone called Juice Box Geniuses. Which it's a game where we answer kindergarten level questions to see who's the real brainiac of this Beautiful Bella Bonita family.
Nicole
You know, I felt like I used to whoop your butt in Bella Brains, but. All right, let's play.
Nikki
You did not whip my butt ever in Bella Brains.
Nicole
I feel like you definitely. I feel like more opus than me buying you.
Nikki
No way, girl. I don't know.
Nicole
All right, all right, Juice box. Genius. Let's see.
Game Host
Just remember to wait until I read the whole sentence before shouting out your answers.
Nicole
So don't cheat.
Game Host
Nicole, first question. What do caterpillars turn into butterflies? I think that was a tie. It's like you guys are twins or something.
Nicole
And we, like, looked at each other. Like we maybe had to say it as twins. Yeah. Gosh. Our life.
Game Host
What are the three primary colors?
Nikki
Red, blue and yellow.
Game Host
All right, point for Nikki. What country is directly north of the U.S. canada. Oh, I think Bri got that one. What letter comes after K?
Nicole
J.
Game Host
Okay, another tie. How many sides does a triangle have?
Nicole
Three.
Game Host
That was really close. I think I'm gonna say that one was a tie. Next question. How many legs does a spider have?
Nikki
Six.
Bri
Eight.
Nicole
Eight.
Nikki
But I think when I said it again, I feel like I said eight.
Nicole
No, you didn't.
Nikki
And I feel like Canada was a tie. But fine.
Game Host
Okay, Brie, got that one.
Nicole
Look at you, cheating.
Game Host
If you had two quarters.
Nicole
Wait, what was that?
Game Host
You had two quarters. How much money?
Nikki
50. 50. I feel like it's cheating.
Nicole
50 cents.
Nikki
Because you asked again when I didn't even hear it.
Game Host
Okay, Brie, got that one. What sound does the letter S make? Okay, another. What is the shape of a ball?
Nikki
Circle.
Game Host
No, not quite. Something else.
Nikki
A spear? No.
Nicole
Is that what they call it?
Game Host
That's correct.
Nicole
Rotan.
Game Host
Yes, it is.
Nikki
Fear. A spear. Yes.
Nicole
Dang. Oh, that makes sense. Fear. And the only reason why I say that is because Vegas.
Nikki
Oh, gosh.
Game Host
Who was the first U. S. President?
Nikki
What? George Washington.
Game Host
All right, Nikki got that one. What shape is a stop sign?
Nicole
Octagon.
Nikki
I said it first.
Game Host
Nikki got that one first. How many hours are in a day?
Nicole
20, 24. Me.
Game Host
Okay, Brie got that one.
Nikki
Yeah, because your computer made.
Nicole
No, I can't even look at you in your face because I feel like I let you speak before me. I have to, like, look off in the distance.
Game Host
What color do you get when you mix red and yellow?
Nicole
Orange. No, green. No, orange.
Nikki
Orange.
Nicole
No, orange. Orange. And, yeah.
Nikki
Red and yellow. When you're saying green.
Nicole
Yellow. Purple. No, I'm kidding. That's blue and green. No, blue and red.
Game Host
Okay, gonna give that one to Nikki. What's the fastest land animal.
Nicole
Cheetah.
Nikki
Lion.
Game Host
It is a cheetah, but we kind.
Nikki
Of said G at the same time.
Nicole
Oh, you said chi lion.
Nikki
No, I did say tally up the score.
Game Host
Of course it's a tie.
Nicole
Oh, my gosh. Do you. Do we have a tiebreaker?
Nikki
Question only. No, we keep it at a tie. Technically, I think I won, but. No, you didn't give it a tie. You the only reason why. This is why I'm gonna say I won.
Nicole
So we know Buddy takes after his auntie when it comes to not accepting.
Nikki
The only reason I did say Canada and 50 Cent when it was the first president. You looked like a deer and had lights.
Nicole
I knew George Washington. This is what happens is sometimes when you talk, I just don't fight you on it.
Nikki
So, okay, let's just keep it a tie.
Nicole
So fox off.
Nikki
Free.
Nicole
Actually, inspiration information. Yeah. But really quick before I get into inspiration. Yeah. Because Nicole and I. Super competitive.
Nikki
Well, no, me more so.
Nicole
Yeah. Well, anyone out there who has a sibling probably knows. Do you FaceTime your sibling? Like, 100 times a day we do. And sometimes Nicole and I will just, like, sit on FaceTime as we're, like, chopping dinner. I don't know. We're those weird twins. Buddy was sitting there.
Nikki
I bet you there's so many sisters, moms, and daughters that do it.
Nicole
Yeah. So, like, we're on FaceTime, but at this point, we're not chatting because we're kind of maybe chopping up vegetables for dinner. And Buddy, what did Buddy say?
Nikki
Dodo, why are you not talking to Mommy? Dodo, Ask her something. Why aren't you talking?
Nicole
And he's, like, coloring, and he kept looking, and it's so funny.
Nikki
Cuz then I started laughing.
Nicole
I go, he's so weirded out that we're on FaceTime, not saying a word to each other.
Nikki
And how he said it was so.
Nicole
Like, like, he's like. Not like a question.
Nikki
It was like, dodo.
Nicole
Like, why aren't you talking? Like, say something to Mommy. Like, yeah, confused. Because he could still see them. FaceTime was on. Cracks me up. But you know what? That's what it is like to have a.
Nikki
That's right.
Nicole
Okay. I thought for today's inspiration affirmation, we, you know, we're talking about going back to school, and I thought, we got to take it back to Christopher.
Nikki
Also, you said rotund. Let's just take that back. Okay. And you didn't know spirit. So when we, like, think about things for.
Nicole
Dude, you're still, like, freaking out like, you should be a winner or something. Holy moly.
Nikki
Okay, so now it hit me with some inspo so I could get out my competitive nature.
Nicole
Yeah, how about. That'd be great. Now we know where Buddy gets it. I was telling Nicole the way he sprints back on defense with his tongue out and, like, he doesn't want anyone to score a goal, and, like, he looks so much like Nicole when he does it. I was like, oh, my gosh, he's going to be great at defense.
Nikki
I love it. That's good. I'll teach him some things.
Nicole
Let's take it back to Christopher Robin, Winnie the Pooh. And I love this quote, actually.
Nikki
Isn't it Robbins with an S?
Nicole
No.
Nikki
Okay.
Nicole
But Brian and I actually had this quote on our wedding invitations, and so I've always been obsessed with this quote, but you are braver than you believe, stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think. And I think for all of our kids that are back in school and have those down moments where they're like, you know, Birdie, I get it a lot from. But where they're like, they feel like they're not accepted. School's too hard. Am I good enough? You know, it's this quote. You are braver than you believe, stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think will really help your kids.
Nikki
Yeah.
Nicole
I mean, it helps me in life.
Nikki
Well, and I love it because it's totally. Even though it's a quote, it's actually an incredible affirmation. Quite a few affirmations put together. And I. What. What's cute is I do affirmations with Mateo. So I always say, mateo, repeat after me. We have three I believe in myself. And he'll say it, even though at times he's a little retired. He'll go, I poo pooed myself.
Nicole
Oh, that's Buddy.
Nikki
Oh, yeah. And then I can do hard things. And then. Oh, what's the third one? Is something about I. I love myself. There's something. I can't think of the third one right now, but the other day. The other day at pickup, his teacher told me. She was. Oh, I have to tell you what Mateo did today. So he was working on his stuff, and he was doing really well, and he did such a great job on his work today. And all of a sudden, he gets up, he walks over to the mirror, and he goes, you did so good. I am so proud of you. And he's giving himself affirmations in the mirror. And she said it made her heart melt, but it made her Want to be like, oh, my goodness, I want to do this with all the kids. More like how Mateo did that and built himself up and was so proud of himself for the work he completed. But I. I feel like that comes a lot of the affirmations I do with him in the house where I make him. We either majority of the time it's in the bathtub, but then I'll also have him go do it in the mirror, and he'll be looking and, like, I can do hard things and, like, all the things. But I think, like, I love that quote. And I think it's so important with their kids that we really give them affirmations. Even at three, whenever they can talk, like, pump them up, make them feel good. Also, I am kind. I am loving. I love all things, like, fill them up with kindness and love, because in, you know, all those things, too, that make them a really good person. So not even. Not only a person that gives them confidence and all those things, the tools they need to be an incredible person. But can you imagine starting now and filling your children up with kindness, with I love others and all that kind of stuff, that. It starts from us.
Nicole
It starts from us. You know, a lot that's been going on in the last couple weeks, you know, not only in America and the world. I think the most important thing is to love, like, to show kindness, you know, I think so many times people, you know, want to you to stand up and get angry and fight and all these things. It's like, no, what we need more than ever right now is to love each other, to show kindness to each other, to respect each other, all the things we were taught in kindergarten, all the things that our grandparents, our parents, and even our teachers wanted from us as adults. We got to show that today. And so. And my thoughts and prayers are with so much that has been the violence that has been going on in America and throughout the world. It's like every day when I say my prayers at night, I always pray for world peace. And I think to myself, if I had any superpower in the world, it wouldn't be to fly, be invisible, you know, any of those things, I would do anything to be able to give this planet peace. Oh, world peace. And just love. Love going through every single human.
Nikki
Yeah. If I had, honestly, one wish, and how much you would want to use a wish on yourself, but world peace, in a heartbeat, I. I wish we could all live as one together and peace and happiness, you know, especially for our children and the generations to come and the people who take their last breaths here. I wish we could all just see the light and see the beauty that surrounds us and how much more beautiful it is if we all just can learn to live in kindness, love and peace. We don't have to agree with opinions or beliefs, but if we can get to a place where that's okay, I could still know that I can love thy neighbor and for sure, you know, understand what are what they're going through. And that's another thing. I wish we could really help the people that are in need mentally. And I feel like we really have to make that a focus worldwide. Well everyone, thank you so much for an incredible episode. I hope everyone has a great back to school year that this year 2025, 2026 is amazing.
