A
you know us, or rather, you know them. Tony and Candace, Nina and Lance, Spike and yes, the chicken.
B
We've played a lot of iconic characters over the years, but today we're showing up as ourselves. To tell you about Podlandia. AO Rewatch our brand new podcast.
A
Each week, we'll revisit an episode of Portlandia from the very beginning, breaking down the sketches, exploring the backstories of our most iconic characters, revisiting the Portland locations you know and love, and opening up about our creative process.
B
How did any of this get made? Why do we think that was a good idea? We're ready to talk about it.
A
And we'll also be joined by the people who helped bring it all to life, guest stars, collaborators, and friends, including director Jonathan Krisel, the mayor himself, Kyle McLaughlin, legendary musician Amy Mann, and many more.
B
You get married and you ask me to be the best man, essentially, and to give the toast. I look around and it is. It's all the aforementioned people, plus Tina Fey, plus you're marrying Elisabeth Moss. This is the peak of Mad Men, you know, so it's like Jon Hamm, it's Matt Weiner, the creator of the show. I mean, this is a very, like, stacked event. And I'm an indie musician, you know, and I give this toast. It's comedic, it's heartfelt, and I kind of can't believe that I wasn't more scared, but I did it. And I remember later you telling me, like, you know, that was kind of your audition for Lauren.
A
Lauren also, who told me later, like, I'm sure he didn't realize it, but it was like, as it was happening, he was like, oh, that's her audition.
B
Yeah. And I think what he realized was, like, the show is actually reliant on this chemistry. It has to be these two people. If it was you and someone from snl, that's a whole different show. But this show, that's Fred and Carrie.
