The Parenting Wisdom Podcast is a place where we explore parenting from a truly holistic perspective. I believe that a wise parent is one who asks questions, keeps an open mind, and also trusts their deep inner knowing.
Here, we integrate insights from psychology, sociology, holistic medicine, child development science, philosophy, and ancient wisdom. Because there is no single “right” way to parent — each of us is unique, and every child is a unique soul.
The guiding principle of The Parenting Wisdom Podcast is that parents are their children’s leaders. And as leaders, we must be both humble and courageous as we raise children who will grow into independent, resilient, and fulfilled human beings — ready to share their unique gifts and live lives of meaning and purpose.
We believe that our children are strong and capable, and that challenges are part of their growth. Our role is to let them face those challenges while remaining their safe haven — the steady presence they can always count on, no matter what.

Parents losing confidence in their natural authority and capacity.2. Rising rates of anxiety, depression, and ADHD diagnoses in children. Is over-parenting playing a role? How does modern structure — schools, screens, sedentary life — interact with certain temperaments? This episode invites you to question the narrative without dismissing the complexity. 🧠 The Neurodiversity PerspectiveWe explore alternative frameworks, including: 📖 ADHD: A Hunter in a Farmer's World by Thom HartmannThe idea that ADHD traits may have been advantageous in hunter-gatherer environments — hyper-vigilance, rapid decision-making, stimulation-seeking — but clash with modern “farmer-style” systems built around routine and sustained focus.### 📖 ADHD Is Not an Illness and Ritalin Is Not a Cure by Yakov OphirA critique of the medical model and an examination of whether ADHD meets traditional criteria for mental illness.### 📖 The Myth of the ADHD Child by Thomas ArmstrongA strengths-based look at ADHD traits and how reframing can shift outcomes. We also reference the work of Daniel Amen, who discusses multiple brain patterns associated with ADHD and describes it as different wiring rather than illness.Instead of suppressing behavior through labels, coercion, or fear, this episode invites parents to become advocates for their child’s nature while still providing strong structure and accountability.## ⚖️ A Balanced TakeThis is not a medical directive. It’s an invitation to think critically.Your lens will determine:* How you interpret behavior* What solutions you pursue* And how your child sees themselves## 🚀 Work With MeIf this conversation resonates with you, my **Becoming Leaders, Raising Leaders** program walks you through a 10-week process of stepping into your role as a calm, grounded, benevolent leader in your home.https://www.efratamira.com/blrlprogramWe focus on:* Vision* Family culture* Meaning* Structure* Emotional leadership* Raising resilient, confident childrenDetails are in the link below.## 📺 Related Episodes* Parenting strategies for children with ADHD (non-medication approaches)* Upcoming episode: A research-based look at ADHD medication side effectsSubscribe so you don’t miss it.👉 Join my newsletter to receive weekly parenting insights and updates here: https://www.efratamira.com/newsletter👉 The Parenting Wisdom Website: https://www.efratamira.com/

But what if leadership in the home isn’t oppression — it’s love in action? In this episode, Efrat shares a powerful 5-step framework to help you step back into your role as a calm, confident, benevolent leader — without yelling, shaming, or crushing your child’s spirit. If you want a home where your word carries weight, your boundaries are respected, and your children feel secure under your leadership, this episode is for you.In This Episode, You’ll Learn:1️⃣ Belief – Reclaim Your Rightful RoleMany modern beliefs — from extreme democracy to mistrust of authority — have weakened parents’ confidence in leading their homes.Efrat explains why:If you doubt your right to lead, your children will doubt your instructions.Boundaries do not equal oppression. You were chosen to guide your child — and you have what it takes.Leadership begins with belief.2️⃣ Emotional Regulation – Authority Is QuietAnger doesn’t create authority — it destroys it.When we yell or lose control:We step down into immaturity. We enter power struggles. We surrender leadership to our emotions.True authority is grounded, calm, and regulated. You’ll learn practical tools to:Neutralize emotionally charged momentsCalm your nervous systemRelease adrenaline in healthy waysShift thoughts that fuel frustrationBecause regulated parents lead secure children.3️⃣ Consistency – Root Boundaries in ValuesInconsistent boundaries weaken authority.Efrat explains why:Boundaries that stem from clear family values are easier to uphold.4️⃣ Perspective Shift – Discipline Is for ThemDiscipline is not selfish. It’s not about your comfort. It’s about:Socializing your childTeaching responsibilityGuiding them toward maturityHelping them think beyond themselvesWhen children feel that your boundaries serve a greater purpose — a bigger vision, a family “North Star” — they’re more inspired to follow. This is what benevolent leadership looks like.5️⃣ Execution – Integrity Creates SecurityYour word must mean something. If you say it:Follow through on promises.Follow through on consequences.Don’t threaten what you won’t enforce.Children feel safest when they know your word is steady and reliable.Integrity builds trust.Trust builds authority. When you embody these five steps, your children don’t follow you out of fear — they follow you because they feel safe.Reflection QuestionWhich step is hardest for you right now?Belief?Regulation?Consistency?Perspective?Execution?Let’s work on it together. If this episode resonated with you, be sure to like and share it so more parents can step into calm, confident leadership in their homes. And don’t forget to check out the related episode on emotional regulation and neutralizing anger for practical nervous system tools. You are not meant to be your child’s best friend. You are meant to be their leader.Chapter List:00:00 The Struggle of Parenting Communication00:26 Regaining Parental Authority00:59 The Five-Step Framework Overview01:07 Step 1: Belief in Authority02:56 Step 2: Emotional Regulation06:05 Step 3: Consistency in Boundaries08:38 Step 4: Perspective Shift on Discipline10:35 Step 5: Execution of Boundaries👉 Join my newsletter to receive weekly parenting insights and updates here: https://www.efratamira.com/newsletter👉 The Parenting Wisdom Website: https://www.efratamira.com/

👉 Join The Parenting Wisdom Community FB group for weekly Parenting Q&A:https://www.facebook.com/share/g/17mDYDmSNa/There’s almost nothing more triggering as a parent than being ignored. That tight feeling in your chest when your child tunes you out? It’s not just frustration — it feels like disrespect. But here’s the hard truth:The moment we start yelling, we stop leading.Instead of being the calm, secure authority our children need, we enter a power struggle on their level — and in that moment, we’ve already lost control. In this episode, Efrat breaks down:* Why your child is really ignoring you* What’s actually happening in your nervous system* How to handle that surge of anger* A step-by-step protocol to get them to listen — without ever raising your voiceIf you’re tired of repeating yourself and feeling disrespected, this episode will shift everything.Yelling Makes You Lose Authority! When your child ignores you and you explode:* Your emotions take over.* You move from leader to reactor.* Your child ends up controlling the emotional tone of the room. And here’s the surprising part:The biggest danger isn’t that you’ll “traumatize” your child.Children are resilient. The real problem is that when you lose emotional regulation, you lose leadership.Authority is calm.Authority is grounded.Authority does not shout to be heard. The Step-by-Step Protocol to Stop Being IgnoredStep 1: Neutralize Your Emotions FirstDo **not** engage until you’re calm. Before you speak again, ask yourself:* Who is in charge right now — me or my emotions? You must detach from the emotional surge before making another request.Step 2: Make a Clear, Firm, Benevolent RequestOnce calm, return and communicate from leadership.Your request must be:### ✔ ClearThey understand exactly what you’re asking.### ✔ FirmIt must happen.### ✔ BenevolentIt comes from a higher purpose — not your comfort. You’re not managing the moment. You’re leading toward a bigger vision.---Step 3: Make Sure It ComputesMany kids aren’t ignoring you — they’re distracted.Have them repeat the request back to you. This ensures:* They heard you.* They understand.* They’re mentally engaged.Step 4: Add a Timeframe and ConsequenceSpecify when it must happen:* “Right now.”* “In five minutes.”* “By the end of the day.”Then clarify the consequence if it doesn’t happen. You can:* Decide the consequence yourself.* Collaborate with your child.Step 5: The HandoverThis is critical.Once you’ve:* Made the request* Confirmed understanding* Set the timeframe* Clarified the consequenceYou hand the responsibility to them. The ball is now in their court. You do **not**:* Nag* Repeat* Remind* BegYou let the consequence do its job.## Reflection QuestionWhich part is hardest for you?* Regulating your anger?* Shifting your thoughts?* Releasing physical tension?* Not repeating yourself?* Following through with consequences?Share in the comments — let’s work through it together.---If you found this helpful, check out the related episode on motivating your kids to take initiative on their own.Because when you lead well, they don’t just listen —they rise.Chapter list:00:00 Understanding Parental Frustration00:51 The Power Struggle: Who's in Charge?02:46 Neutralizing Emotions for Effective Parenting06:12 Clear, Firm, and Benevolent Requests08:51 Empowering Children with Responsibility👉 Join my newsletter to receive weekly parenting insights and updates here: https://www.efratamira.com/newsletter👉 The Parenting Wisdom Website: https://www.efratamira.com/
