Hello everybody and welcome back to Intrusive Thoughts. I'm your host Adam Rippon and I have some intrusive thoughts to share. As I always do, is sort of a running theme on this show is to share the thoughts that just pop into my mind. And today there is a few things that I want to talk about. One, I'm going on a trip. I'm going to Boston tomorrow and on that trip I'm going to see Rosalia. So I'll talk a little bit about that. If you have been listening to the podcast, you know that I have opened a medical spa called the Atami Aesthetics Club and yesterday at the time of this recording is when we had our grand opening event. So we've been open for like the past few weeks, but yesterday we had a grand opening event. So now it's like you're open. So I'll talk a little bit about that, which I think will be fun. But I want to start the show off with a huge bang and I feel like the best shows in the entire world and this is one of them. Very famously, very one. Very, very one of them. As I was gonna say, very one of them. Best shows in the world. Very one of Them best intrusive thoughts. I would like to talk about Love island if you know anything about me. Actually, you might not know this, but if you do do know it, then you're gonna know what I'm about to say. Love island is one of the shows, and I don't know why, but it's one of the shows that me and my husband, we just see completely eye to eye on, and we love watching it together. And it's great because we have time to kill. We want something new every night. And Love island gives you that. Oh, boy, does it give you that in spades. Right? Love island is. And I don't know how many episodes that they plan on doing in, like, this season. So I'm gonna be talking about the current season of Love Island USA Season 8, and just sort of like a general overview. I just want to, you know, I want to update you, and I want you to know if you're not watching it, it's a very big part of being online, I feel like, is watching Love island because so many people do watch it. And you can very quickly feel out of the conversation because things move really fast. And like I said, there's like, a new episode every single day. It's in. It's very impressive how quickly things move. And I'm speaking, like, not of this. I'm speaking more of, like, the edit. Like, I can't imagine how they, like, edit everything together so quickly. But, you know, I've. I've. You know Love Island. I know Love Island. Let's talk about it a little bit. So Love Island USA is hosted by Ariana Maddox, who does look incredible. She's in, like, tai Bo shape. She's like. She's in incredible shape. She looks amazing. And I just feel like, you know, I could see the training that went into traveling to Fiji to film this season of Love island. And I actually really like her as a host. I feel like she's a great host for this show because I feel like she really cares about the contestants. She's really invested in their journeys. And I just think that, like, she has a lot of fun with it. Would I have a lot of fun with it? Absolutely. Absolutely. I love Love Island. I love love, as they say. So Ariana Maddox, she's looking fantastic. She's looking great. She's looking like she's been doing, like, P90X for the past, I don't know, six months, no days off. That's how she's looking. To me, I'm looking. Wow. She's, like, getting ready for LA. 28. That's what she looks like. Great dresses. You know, they have her styled really well. I do love it. I also do love Big shout out to Maya Jama from Love island, uk. Love her, too. I really do like, the. The hosts. They. They, to me, kind of just like, set the tone. And I think Ariana sets a nice tone because I feel like her reactions are very, like, the reactions that I would have and that I'm having as somebody who's probably, like, around her age. Let me just check that out. How old is Ariana Maddox? Here's the thing. I never watched Vanderpump Rules, so I don't really know her from that universe. So I don't. You know, I have no, like, preconceived notion. She's 40. Okay. She's born in 85, so she's a little older than me. But we're, like, roughly the same, like, millennial kind of cast. Okay? So we have, like, our original island islanders. And everybody calls these, like, the OGs, right? These are the original islanders, the ones who, like, start the journey from the very beginning. I'm kind of gonna break down Love island for you if you've never watched it before, and even listen as somebody who does watch a lot of it. And when there's, like, breaks from different seasons, my husband and I, we will watch, like, old seasons of different countries, no questions asked. We've got the time. Believe me, we have the time. So the way that Love island works is you have your original group of cast members. They're looking for love on the island. Love Island. And they go to the island, and these are the originals, and they get all kind of grouped up. And then throughout the process of the show, different bombshells will come in, and they will kind of, like, test the couples, or sometimes somebody will get paired up with somebody, and it's just pretty obviously, they pretty obviously do not have a romantic connection, or it'll feel really friendly or they just won't get along. It can happen, right? Like, you're just kind of being blindly paired up with somebody, and this is really when, like, a bombshell comes in and shakes it up. So a bombshell will come in, and even if somebody's, like, in a couple, they'll, like, talk to the newer person who comes into the. To the island, to the villa, as they say. And so they come into the villa, and they just, you know, sort of, like, feel it out. Maybe they're, like, gonna feel this person feel a bit more of a connection with this person than the person than they're with, but especially the people who are in a couple where they're just, like, where there is no romantic feeling here. So I'm definitely going to go, like, full feet in with this. So that's what happens. And it can also, like, happen where there'll be, like, two bombshells of, like, the same sex. So, like, two women will come in, or two men will come in, or, like, happened a few episodes ago on Love Island USA season eight, two women and a guy came in altogether. So three new bombshells. And so basically what happens is that the whole point of Love island is to stay on the island. You have to be in a couple. And this is, like, where it gets a little tricky because you would think, like, even if you're. It would. You would feel that it would be better to not be in a couple with somebody who you don't feel you have a connection with than to be in a couple at all. Correct? That's absolutely incorrect. You would get kicked off and, as they say, dumped from the island immediately. You cannot be single on the island. Being single on Love island is the worst thing a person can be. You can be so many things on Love island, but the one thing you absolutely cannot be is single. You can be insane, you can be ruthless, you can be a criminal, a crook on Love island, all of that is okay. But the worst thing a person can do, even worse than murder, is be single on Love island because you'll get kicked off, you'll get dumped immediately. And they go immediately of 30 minutes to pack your bags and get out. So it's. It's, you know, it's strict. It's strict. It's tough. And there's kind of nothing you can do about that. But those are the laws, and we follow the rules on Love Island. So our original cast members, we have Anaya, Beatriz. And I always kind of feel like I'm being performative when I. When there is somebody who has, like, a rolled letter in their name. But that's how she says it, Beatriz. And I'm going to honor that because I'm an honorable person. We have Bryce, Casey, Kenzie, Melanie, Sincere, Trinity, and Zach. Okay, those are your, like, originals. And then we've got some, like, bombshells coming. So I just want to talk a little bit about some of my, like, favorite islanders, because this is what always happens. You kind of, like, get a connection. Like, obviously, I'm getting some sort of, like, I root for them, connection with these people. And the first person I feel really connected to is Beatriz Bia. B for short. And I feel connected to her at first because she's a Paralympian. And so I see the way that she's, like, navigating the show, and it's very, like, athlete. It's like, listen, this is either gonna work or it's not gonna work. Next, let's do this. And they're gonna do what? They're gonna do whatever. I really like her because I think she is hilarious. She kills me. Some of the things that's come out of her mouth are so funny. And so I love her. I really do love her. And I feel like some people watching, I don't think that she's everybody's cup of tea because she is a little, like, aggressive, but I don't find it off putting. I actually really like it. It feels, like, very cut and dry. And I really like the way that she's, like, opened up to her other islanders. I just really like her, and I think she's really funny. And she jokes about having one leg, and every time she says something about having one leg, I'm hooting and hollering, I'm slapping my knee. I think it's hilarious. She said she was paired up with, like, this guy. Sean. Was his name Sean? Yes, Sean, who was a cop. Oh, yeah. There was actually this big thing where the somebody from Sean's hometown, like, a position of political power, was like, really? Do you love my retelling of this story with, like, no facts, whatever. It was like, the mayor or it was like, the head of police who was like, oh, you think going to Love island is more important than being a police officer? And it's like, guy, give it a break, please. Kind of, sometimes. Yeah, right? Don't we all deserve a little bit of joy? Even Sean the cop. Okay, so B was paired with him in the beginning, and he was talking about how he loves country music. And she is saying, like, I hate country music. And he's like, what would you, like, ever want to listen to country music? Like, blasting on the radio and just, like, you're flying down, windows open, and she says something. I'm paraphrasing. This is what won me over immediately. I was like, she's slapstick comedy. Hilarious. She said something along the lines of, I would rather have another. I would rather acquire another disability than listen to country music on full blast. Driving down the highway. It just. It did everything for me. It did everything for me. That's why I'm a huge Fan. What I'm not a fan of is I do feel like as somebody who had and wore Invisalign trays, I am worried that she is wearing the Invisalign. I listen, this is the thing with the Invisalign. When you have Invisalign, you need to wear it all the time for it to work. For you to like, go through the trays and you need to wear it like, you know, I think they say try to wear it as often as like 23 hours a day. Very famously, there's only 24 hours in a day. So it's basically like, don't take those out of your mouth or they won't work. Also because of that, like, you snack a lot less. Which, like, when I was a competing athlete, I was like, this is perfect. This is the best diet I've ever been on is being a user of Invisalign. And I remember once I tweeted a long time ago, the best diet I've ever been on is having Invisalign. And the Invisalign company wrote back to my tweet and they said, we don't endorse this. Something along those lines, which, you know, I get legally. But it really was the best diet because you just, you're just like, oh, I just don't want to take the teeth out, so I won't eat this thing. Or at all in some cases. Right? I'm not endorsing that either. I'm just telling you that's what I did. Everybody should eat, except if you're wearing your trays. You can't wear your trays and eat. Okay, that's. You just can't do that.

you know, like, spit gets in there and stuff, just naturally. And I do have this feeling that she's, like, doing the challenges, still wearing the trays. And I'm just like, listen, like I said, you need to wear them for, like, 22 to 23 hours in the entire day for them to work to, like, shift your teeth. That being said, you're gonna be on Love Island. Like, let's just kind of. Let's let the teeth revert back a little bit. I know you're, like, on a teeth journey, and this might take a little bit longer, but, like, let's just take them out for a little bit. That's just. Those are my two cents. Okay, Do. As somebody who wore Invisalign, there were, you know, times in a place and. And I remember when I was, like, competing, I'd be. I was like, I can't compete with, like, a plastic barrier between my teeth in the world. And listen, I just hope she's washing them out, giving them a very deep scrub. The. My next islander, who I really have grown a soft spot for is K.C. he's a nursing assistant. He's from Fresno, California. He's just such a sweetheart. He's paired up with Anaya, and I just feel like he is so sweet to her, and he's very understanding, and he does make all of these, like, comical faces throughout. Like, anything, people. Somebody will be saying something, and he's like, you know, wincing, smirking, eyebrows up, eyebrows down, the eyes are rolling. The. You know, I'm. I'm here for all of it. I just think he's just, like, a very big sweetheart. So I really like Casey. I think that he's great. I think he might be one of my favorite guys on this season. Another Islander I love Kenzie. Kenzie is crazy. Okay? She is a white girl from. Where is she from? She's from. From Georgia. A white girl from Georgia. She is. I'm trying to figure out, like, I don't mean this in the way that I am saying it, but she's like, I don't know. I don't even know what I'm gonna say yet. I just feel like sometimes she says things and I'm like, what? But I mean that in a way where I'm like, I like. It does that make any sense whatsoever? I hope it does, because she. Sometimes I do feel like, hey, boom, boom, boom. It's like, is this thing on when she is thinking? And it's. Sometimes you can see her, like, listening and watching something, and you're like, I do hear, like, the two marbles in her head just sort of, like, smashing up against each other. And I. I am a big fan of that. And sometimes I do hear her. I don't hear her. I see her listen to someone. I see her sitting there listening to somebody she's talking to. And I personally feel the grooves in my brain smoothing out. I feel them smoothing out because I'm going, she's not listening to any of this. She's not listening for one second, and then her eyes get huge and she says something completely unrelated, and I'm going, this is her affection. It's perfection. I think they did an amazing job casting this group of islanders because they're just. I don't know, there's something about it that they all feel like. I don't, at this point, feel like anybody is there. And I think they all have an understanding that they will become famous from this experience. But I have a feeling that at this point, none of them are at least acting like they're in on what's happening. And I feel like they're all being pretty. Themselves, pretty genuinely themselves, whether, you know, you like them or not. There's a girl, Melanie, who, in the very first episode, reminds everybody about a thousand times that she's from Philly, but now she lives in la, which is, like. Feels very important to who she is as a person. She does. She scares me a little bit because she's a bit, like, up and down, but it's still, like, as they say on the show, early days. So I'm. I'm holding out because every time she has a moment where I feel like, whoa. Because last season on Love island, there was this girl, her name was Huda, and she was absolutely unwell. She was not mentally fit to be on a television show at all. She was honestly, like. I feel like for a minute she was good tv, but then I felt like she was quite distracting because she was so up and down. And it felt like, like, you know, we're. We're really past the days of, like, Snooki being on tv, being like, yeah, like, let's watch her get punched in the face. Like, that was a very time and place. Just like Invisalign trays are right. But that felt very time and place. And I Feel like watching somebody who's, like, mentally unfit or doesn't have the emotional capacity or. Or mo. Like they cannot regulate their emotions. Being on TV feels very, like, on. I feel uneasy watching it. And I think Melanie is, like, she teeters towards that. And every time I see her get, like, really down and down in the dumps or, like, really excited about something, I. I feel like she always kind of finds her way back to reality. But I think she's the. She's the one who. I feel like, whoa, like, let's regulate. Let's do some, like, deep breathing. Box breathing exercises. But like I said last year with Huda, it was like. It was. That was crazy. That was unwatchable at times because I was like, get her to a doctor. Get her on. She's not. Needs to be on a medication. As somebody who takes a medication, get her on one. Like, that's how I felt about that. And I don't feel, you know, okay. I'm just like, I'm willing to hear everybody out. We have another. Another guy who I do, like, Sincere. He seems really one. I just love the name. I just, like, love the name Sincere. I think it's such a great name. He's in a couple with Melanie at the moment that I feel like is going to get broken up. And it feels like it's going to get broken up because Melanie can be so, like, up and down. And I think, like, in the beginning. So I will tell you, as somebody who has done reality TV before, is that one week feels like one month, because when you are in the trenches with these people, you aren't allowed because your whole job is being there and interacting with them. There is no downtime from these people. And this experience is so isolated between the people you're doing it with that like, only the people there can relate to what's going on. And so with all of those factors, including the. The just knowing everybody is watching and having to experience these emotions in front of so many people who are essentially strangers. I think, like, as humans, you try to, like, gain a connection to people, to just, you know, have a sense of community. And that's why the emotions are so high. And I think that's why people feel so connected so quickly. And it just, you know, it's the whole point of everything. I think, like, when you're dating somebody, you know, you know, you want to play cool and there's like a certain amount of time you want to go before you pursue somebody a little bit more or you want to feel things out. But when you're in a situation like this, there is no feeling something out. There is no playing it cool. And so it speeds everything up. And so that's why I feel like the emotions are really high. And I think that's why the people feel, like, really connected really quickly, where you're like, well, they've known each other for two days. Well, I feel like a day is like a week, and a week is like a month, and a month is like a year. That's the level of, like, connection. The jarring thing is that, like, when you leave a reality show and you go back to your normal life, you've lost that. Like, you really are and really do feel connected to the people you do the show with. But, like, and there would definitely be, like, relationships that you get from these shows that, like, maybe are more withstanding than others. But it doesn't mean that you, like, weren't good friends when you did the show. But I feel that, like, you've lost the, like, the. The foundation of what was connecting you. Because when you have the foundation, then you have these, like, different things that you'll relate to these people. And that's how you find a connection, friendship wise or relationship wise is what I'm talking about. And because in my mind, what I'm thinking is that, like, you know, the girls really, like, bond with the girls and the boys really find, like, a camaraderie between the other boys. And sometimes there is this, like, you know, friendship couples where they're, like, really bond with, like, one another. And it's very, like, in the vein of, like, reality tv, that that happens. And so I feel that, like, the. The emotions are just so high. And that's why I feel like you see the people get connected right away. And, you know, that's just. That's. That. That's what I'm saying. As somebody who has, like, done reality tv, that, like, it becomes. Even if you're, like, in on it, right? Like, even when you're, like, in on it. I remember when I did Dancing with the Stars where it was like, you know, I know that, like, the whole world, like, the whole world doesn't revolve around Dancing with the Stars, but when you're in it and everything you're doing, like, you just get so sucked into it in a very, like, positive, like, way because you gain these friendships with people and you go through these experiences, but then you, like, take a step out of it and you're like, whoa. It's like. It is like whiplash. But it is good tv. So there is another girl on Love island, and I'm gonna see if I've missed anyone. Anaya, who's paired up with Casey right now, she seems a bit, like, insecure, and sometimes she says a few things where I'm like, okay, because she's paired up with Casey, who I feel like is being, like, really respectful, because I think, okay, so also, if you don't watch Love island, things that happen on the island are. They'll be. Even if people are in a couple that they'll consider, like, strong, they still have to do these challenges in games. And in the games, it'll be like, kiss the person who you think is the most attractive person here that you're not in a couple with. So it pushes them to, like, still explore the other people on the island. And sometimes if they're in a couple and somebody is kissing somebody, even though it's part of a game and a challenge and they all know this, they might feel like a type of way that they were like, you were a little too into it or, like, why did you choose that person when, you know, I feel like you might leave me for them? And so that's really where the drama hap is rooted is, I think, in the challenges. Because if the challenges didn't happen, I think people would kind of sequester themselves off to, like, their couples, and that would be that. But the games and the challenges are really, like, the root cause of people going to explore, I believe. Or it's like an excuse where they'll be, like, you know, happy in their couple, but they're really interested to know someone else. So in a challenge, they might find an excuse to go and make out with that person. And as somebody who's watched Love island for a long time, I will tell you that in the past. Okay, in the past, people have really treated kissing on Love island outside of a challenge. Like I said, the challenges are, like, it's a makeout fest. But outside of the challenges, people have really put kissing up on a pedestal of something. Like, we're not ready to do that. I want to wait. Even if they've, like, made out, like, tongues down each other's throats five minutes before, kissing outside of a challenge is seen as something, or at least it used to be, like, something really just set aside for you, you're really committing to this person. In this season of Love island usa, this feels like the craziest. Like, off the bat, kissing out of challenges. Like, for a moment, I felt like, am I Becoming conservative, which I'm not for the record, but I. You're watching it and you're like, whoa. They're just like, the kissing is intense and they. And. And I'll say that like the. The technique of some of the kisses are it. I feel it could do with some workshopping. I also don't know what I look like when I kiss somebody, but it is crazy because I'm seeing like the, like the tongue like vibrate in the back of the neck into the person. Like it's like, wow. And I'm seeing like a lot of hard pecs. Right? You know? No, like soft. Like hold for a second or two. Like I feel like you could have like a nice. But you're not. You're in your 20s. You don't know any better. You're trying to find like a rhythm. You don't know what your rhythm, your love making rhythm, your kiss rhythm is. But a lot of like, like, whoa. Like gunshots almost. It's just like, relax. Like, why don't you just like get in there, sit on the lips for a second and then go. You don't need to like, like kissing a boo boo on a. Or something. Do you know what, like I'm saying? It just feels like pew, pew, pew. Like, like gunshots. Like, wow, let's calm it down. But the kissing is happening a lot earlier now. And so I feel like it's losing its importance a little bit in. In this season at least, because in the past it's been like this really big thing of like, did you kiss? Where it's like you took the next step with Pers. With. But in this season with this group of people, it feels like they're doing it outside of the challenge. Like, like just remember, was it good or not? Like they're all playing a little bit dumb with the kisses. But. So this is what I'm getting at with, with Anaya and Casey that I feel like part of the Love island experience is just kind of like, you know, going buck wild a bit with the challenges. That's the whole point that I think that she's like very sensitive to. I don't know, I feel like because she's not going crazy in the challenges and she's kind of expecting Casey not to either. But it's still early and he hasn't really given her any. I feel any reason to feel like, well, she should be nervous or scared, but you know, like, I'm not in it too. So I'm like, I'm. I'm seeing her side of it. But I can. I don't know. I think it's also really difficult because if you're with one of these people, you also don't know how they're really feeling about you, because you don't know if, like, a bombshell will come in and it'll be like, oh, that's somebody they're really gonna connect with. Because, again, like, you only know these people for, like, a few days or a week or a week or two. So there's, like, that layer to it. Did I. Oh, another couple. So there's Bryce. Bryce is a model, and he's, like, a real. Like, does campaigns and stuff. And there's this girl, and I really like her. Trinity. She is so cute. She reminds me of a girl I know. And so that's why I feel, like, right off the bat, I just. I really like her. She's really nice to the other girls. She's really cute. She's a little, like, awkward in a way that I find adorable, but. And I think Bryce is also a little awkward. And so together. I wasn't expecting if they felt a little mismatched to me at first, but together, I do really like them a lot, and they're really growing on me. Um, but my favorite couple at the moment is there was a bombshell who. Who came in. Her name is Kada, and one of the original cast members, Zach. So Zach and Keda. I feel like at this point, it feels very much that they both really like each other a lot, and they're just trying to figure out. And so I think they're feeling a type of way when somebody's kissing somebody else. But they also don't want to, like, get too into it too early in case, like, they put all their eggs in one basket with this person. But I. They're my favorite couple at the moment. I would say there. I really like Zach and Kada. I really like Bryce and Trinity. And I think that. I'm just curious to see the way that, like, Casey and Anaya go. I think they need a little bit more time so that they can both figure out, like, what are they both cool with. But I love. Casey is just so sweet. He's so sweet. I love him. So, B. Who I talked about earlier, who. I am worried about the Invisalign trays, which, you know, I get. Like, when you get Invisalign, also, they put these things on your teeth. They're, like, basically kind of like blocks, and they're called attachments. And so, like, the plastic of the Invisalign will, like, hook into them, like, push into them. And it's kind of what helps move the teeth. Like, it can help, like, move the teeth from, like, a place where it's like, behind a tooth or something. So it, like, shifts the. It gives it basically some leverage. So I understand why, you know, maybe she doesn't want to take the Invisalign out. But. So if you've ever seen anybody with, like, it looks like they have, like, dots on their teeth, they probably are using Invisalign and they have. Probably have attachments. I've had attachments, and I'm not afraid to admit it. I think B has them. It seemingly look like she has them on almost all her front teeth. I had them on a few of the, like, side. Not molars, but, like, maybe the canines back, maybe two or three of them. But B is currently paired up with. With a bombshell whose name is Gabriel. Gabriel. Okay. He is from Brazil. And if there was ever somebody who I had to describe as what I would perceive as a buck boy, he is just like, he is moving in this island. 1. I feel that, like, the thing that connects him and B the most is that they. Is that English is obviously not his first language, but he feels way more comfortable when B can speak Spanish. It's very similar to Portuguese. Am I lying? I feel like I'm lying. Or maybe do they speak Spanish together and he understands Spanish? Hold on. I'm gonna figure this out, and this is actually gonna be great for all of us. Is Portuguese similar to Spanish? I feel like. Am I being an idiot? Okay. Portuguese and Spanish are closely related cousins in the Romance language family, sharing about 70 to 90% of their vocabulary. Okay. Because I. This is why I'm saying this is because I have had friends who are Italian and Spanish, and they can each speak Italian to the Spanish friend, and the Spanish friend can speak Spanish to the Italian friend. And they will understand each other very easily. Uh, so the differences. And so basically there, I don't know if he's speaking Spanish to her, but she's definitely speaking Spanish. And he's either speaking Portuguese or Spanish to her. And he is obviously more comfortable than he is to anybody who's he's speaking in English. Uh, and I feel like that's the thing that, like, bonds them the most. But other than that, like, he is a fuck boy. Like, he's moving like crazy in here, and he is the most, like, Love island ish kind of person on this island. Because there is another bombshell. His name is Corbin, who came in and he was like six, four, gorgeous, whatever. And he was trying to move a little, like, boy, like, in the first day that he was there. And he immediately was like, shifted his tone one once. Like, one of the girls was like, I heard you tried to kiss someone else. And he immediately shifted the way that he was, like, maneuvering. But Gabriel, not so much. That seems to be, like, his quality that they're liking that he's like, sexual and blah, blah, blah. So he's somebody who I'm like, I don't know. I think that that's gonna get him eventually off the island. That's how I'm. I'm taking that, like, the way that he's. Or it's gonna keep him on the island longer. But that being said, I'll be really pissed if he's the reason that B gets dumped. And because I don't want B to go. I really like her. And that is where we currently sit with Love island usa. So if you don't watch Love Island, I hope now you will and. And you should. I love it. I really do love it. Anyway, in the same vein of pop culture things going on sort of in the zeitgeist, I want to talk a little bit about tomorrow. About. I heard myself, like, say about really. And then I couldn't stop thinking about it. So let me go back and say it again. I want to talk a little bit about my trip to Boston, which I'm going to tomorrow, and I'm going to visit one of my friends. She's been on this podcast before. You might know her as Ashley Wagner, the girl who didn't know anything about the story of Easter. And she is currently lives in Nantucket and she's moving back to Boston. She was living in Boston for a little while, then moved to Nantucket with her husband and her daughter. And now they're moving back. And I told her that I wanted to see Nantucket before she moves back to Boston. And so she's moving back. So I told her that I would come out. And while we're out there, another friend of ours, Sarah Hughes, we're gonna see Rosalia. And so I'm very excited because I love Rosalia. And again, like, I'm not going to understand. I'm going to be like Gabriel on Love island, where he doesn't understand a word, but he's loving every moment of it. And that's how I'm going to feel at the Rosalia concert. So I can't wait. And I can't wait to report back and let you know, like, how it goes. Will I buy merch as I'm in Olivia Rodrigo merch as I record this? So I do love merch. Every now and then. Will I buy merch? I don't know. I really don't know. I can't tell you. How will Nantucket be? I'll have to let you know. You have to take a boat there. It's not a mainland, it's an island. Nantucket Island. So there's a lot for me to discover and figure out and find out and. And I can't wait to do it. And then finally to just end this episode out. I did have the grand opening of my medical spa, the Atami Aesthetics Club, yesterday, and it went really well. It went really well. Like, listen, you have no idea. I will tell you that starting a new business has been one of the most, like, challenging things I've ever done, because there are just so many things that you. That I'm doing for the very first time. And when I say challenging, I mean that it's challenged me. And I've learned a lot, and I've learned that I don't know a lot, but it has pushed me to learn it. And I'm really grateful for the people that I work with. But, you know, we. When we opened, because we opened it maybe a few weeks ago, it was very, like, unceremonious, where we just opened and it was like, through a post on Instagram where it's like, we're open. And we started inviting our friends and family to, like, you know, book appointments, which we're so grateful that they did. And then after that, we were like, you know, we never had a big event where it was like, we are open and invite people to come and see the space. And, you know, it's less pressure because you don't need to buy anything. But you know, we just. We just wanted to people to, like, come in and see it and just visit us. And we had a great turnout, A really, really great turnout. And I'm so grateful to the people who came. We had some listeners of this podcast who came to the grand opening, which was amazing to see and to repay them. I talked about love island for 38 minutes, which I think is important. Hopefully it is to them. But, yeah, it's been a really great experience so far. And one thing that I'm gonna say is this, is that since we've opened, I personally, in the two years that it took to, like, get to where we are now to being, like, an open medical spa, I did not really get any treatments done. And the reason I didn't get anything done was because the person who I would solely go to is Tamar, my friend. And which is why, you know, we partnered up was she always wanted to do her own thing. And I was like, would you ever want to do it together? I've told this story before on this podcast, but when we said that we would do this together, I still felt pretty dedicated to the, like, you know, I didn't want to see anybody else. I would just wait until we opened. So it's been a while since I've done any, like, treatments. And so when we first, like, we're getting things together and all of our, like, products were coming in, I got a chemical peel, blah, blah, blah, wanted, because I had never tried the one out that we decided on based on, like, the research and talking to all the different. All the different brands. And so I wanted to try it, and I really liked it. And, you know, but other than that, I hadn't, like, really had the chance to do anything else. And so now that we're, like, up and running and we have, like, the wheels greased on our business now, I'm like, tamar, let's go kind of ham. And so I want to go on a. And basically, if you've never done any sort of, like, treatments before, before you get on, like, a maintenance schedule, because to keep up the results of your treatments, like, you go on a maintenance schedule. But, like, at first, the way that they're most effective is if you do a series of them. And the most, like, common amount would be, like, if you have, like, issues that will take a lot of work and time to repair would be, like, you might need five or six in a series to see, like, drastic results. And whether that be chemical peels or micro needling. Right. Or some sort of Laser or whatever. But for a lot of people coming to get things for the very first time, and they're just like looking to just improve the appearance of the skin, like three or four would suffice in like a, in a cycle. But obviously I'm insane and I want to do like a full, big, deep cycle, like a big, like refresh. And so a few days ago I got microneedling at our spa for the very first time, which I'm like over the moon about. And I got PRP injections under the eye and I did it in the nasolabial folds and I did it in the hairline because I was like, tamar, just take out as much blood as possible. Let's spin this and inject it right back in this sucker. Me. And I'm excited to see like, what the results are because I also want to speak, like first hand experience of like, what everything is like. And I've gotten it, but it's been a few years. So if you see me doing this podcast and you're like, you look a little bit bruised or battered, that the reason would be is that I'm going to be doing a bunch of treatments, like back to back. And I can't wait. I really can't wait. And I can't remember if I mentioned this before or not, but I feel that like our grand opening was like such a big success that I really liked having the, the like hosting an event. And so you're gonna have to let me know what you think about this and if this would be something that like, you would be interested in going and you can reach out and like, let us know, Let us, let me. I'm the only person here. Hello. Nobody's here. Only my dog is like sucking on his toes behind me. If you heard any, like in the background of like me talking about Love island, it was my dog eating his own toes. But yeah. So even if you don't live in the Los Angeles area, because our spa is in Arcadia, California. So even if you don't live there, just tell me if you think this is something that you would want to go to. Because I feel like I would go to it, especially if I was on the fence. And I think that it would be fun to do. Not like when I'm in this, like, series of treatments where I'm going to be getting them like every few weeks or so that like, as an event. What if we did like a live demonstration? Right? Because I think this is what I'm going to do. I think I'm going to ask one of my friends who I know is really good at, like, rallying the troops. And so I'm going to tell her I'm workshopping this in front of a live audience right now. I'm going to workshop this with her. And I'm going to say this. I'm going to say, hey, friend, I want you to get together, like, 10 or 15 people for a night where it's like, you know, we'll have, like, charcuterie, which is what we made. Like this. Oh, my God. I feel like the spa looked beautiful. I made all these, like, balloon arrangements. I actually there was somebody who did reach out and said that they were going to help us with balloons. And I don't know why, but I was like, so in the middle of everything that I couldn't remember if it was a dream or not. And now I do know that it was not a dream. And so I do have to reach out to this. This person and say, I am so sorry. Oops. And so I made these, like, balloon arrangements, and we made this beautiful, like, grazing table. This. I feel like the spa looked incredible, but this is what I'm getting to. What if we did an event where it was, like, some, you know, charcuterie, some drinks, and it's basically like, people would come, and as they come, let's say it's a microneedling treatment where you have to get numb before and you have to sit in the numbing cream. So as people come, like, let's say it's me, I start the numbing process, and I'm numbing. But we're talking about what microneedling is or if there's anything anybody's ever been curious about at a medical spa that they've never seen or have always been interested to see what it looks like or how it feels, or whatever. And then, you know, we ch. We chat, we eat some cheese, we do all of that. And then they get to watch the procedure happen. And then as a thank you, that, like, if they would like to, you know, try it themselves, we would offer it to them, like, at a discount because they came to the event and they came and it was like, you know, whatever. I think that that would be a fun event to go. I feel like I would actually go to that because, to be fair, I actually didn't invite any of my friends to the opening because I wanted, like, more of the locals and people who I don't know to come. And our spa, our space isn't, like, huge. I feel like it's less than a thousand square feet. So I feel that this would be a great way to, like, make sure that, like, not too many people show up to keep it really intimate and fun and lighthearted. Especially if it's, like, groups of friends who are there already and who have been, like, interested in trying things but have been, like, nervous to go in on their own or just need, like, a little support or would love a discount. Listen, I would love all of those things, so I feel like it would be fun. And I think that that's what I'm gonna do next. So I'm gonna, I am gonna reach out to my friend and I'm gonna kind of test and workshop this out to see, like, what it would look like or whatever. Okay, I'll, I'll keep you updated. But until then, I feel like I will talk to you after I get back from Rosalia. I'll have a lot to update you on. I also will have a lot to update you on Love island, but one of the vows my husband and I took when we got married was that we would never watch episodes of Love island without one another. So we'll have a lot of catching up to do. So we'll just kind of see how this goes. Yeah, we'll just see how it goes. So if you have any Love island related things, because I feel like we're going to keep up with it the entire duration of the season because I'll be watching it, might as well chit and chat about it. I can't wait to hear from you. Please, anything that you'd like to share about Love Island, I'd love to talk about it. Literally would love it.
