Stay a while as the Word of God restores your hope and transforms your life. A little birdie told me that the glory of the Lord fell in this place last Wednesday and you didn't get a chance to finish. So we're gonna you did the best you could. Well, we're gonna start where you stopped and we're still on this road to Pentecost, but we want to kind of recap or bring to conclusion that conversation about Thomas. And then we're going to dip over into this week's segment as we make ourselves ready for the Book of Acts. So who wants to start? Because I wasn't here, I just heard about it. So who wants to talk about Thomas?
Felix Salmon
I will say as a brief recap that Thomas needed what everybody in this room needs evidence.
Dr. Crump
That's good.
Felix Salmon
Now, obviously we know that faith is a substant things hope for the evidence of things not seen, seen. Everybody's faith has to rise to a different level and a different occasion. So last week we had to dispel the rumor of doubting Thomas. The Bible never called him doubting Thomas. Jesus challenged him to believe and go forth. Dr. Oscar Williams then brought in the point whereby Thomas took it for real, does the work in evangelists, becomes a missionary, and according to history, spreads the gospel all over India. Last thing as a recap, we do know that Jesus showed his nail prints to all of the disciples. But Thomas was not there. Thomas was not there because to me, Thomas was not afraid of the Jewish leaders. The other 10 were locked up behind closed doors for fear, fear of the Jewish leaders. So we forget to give Thomas credit because Thomas is actually full of faith on the outside. But he wants the same evidence that his disciples get now. Why do people judge you when they got what you didn't get? Isn't it amazing how people can look down on you? But it's because they're at a certain vantage point where God has blessed them to walk into something that you're yet to be exposed to. That was my retake on Thomas.
Dr. Oscar Williams
You know, I just want to add to that because we did talk about, and it's very true, the term doubting Thomas is something that through church colloquialisms came about some kind of way. But I want to underscore that there was doubt. And when I was reflected on it, what I am comforted about is God is not afraid of our questions. Many times, if you grew up in church traditions like I did, we were taught not to question God, Just take it, just. Just walk with it, even if it doesn't make sense. And I grew up thinking that God is intimidated by my question because why wouldn't he answer it? And when I look at this story, when I see Thomas, I see someone that, that. This. This picture of someone who had doubt, who had questions, who needed something more, who. Jesus was not afraid to meet him at his place of doubt. And that's what I want to emphasize. Jesus is not afraid to meet you at whatever level or lack thereof of faith you might have, at whatever question you have, at whatever place of doubt. Jesus is not afraid or intimidated by your question. Because when you have that hunger, he. That hunger and thirst after righteousness, which, what happens, he shall be filled. So when you come to him with that expectation of, I need more revelation, I Want to know more? When you come to him with that hunger, what does he do? He comes to the place where you are and he says, this is the evidence that you need come and experience. That's the touch, that's the thrust. Experience what you're trying to understand, My God. Experience what you're trying to understand.
Dr. Crump
And.
Dr. Oscar Williams
And that's what I want to underscore with that Thomas.
Dr. Crump
I have nothing to say, but what they said is, ditto.
Felix Salmon
He got me over here about to shout, meet me, Jesus. Meet me, Jesus.
Pastor Dobbins
That's good, because just. That recap takes us to the Book of Acts, where we want to start tonight. There were some similarities or some relations between Thomas, the Book of Acts, the first chapter. We're going to just delve into the first chapter. And some of those things that we identified was one evidence. Another thing we identified was he was a witness. And then there was some order to how Thomas's life went after he had this experience. And then he still had to wait.
Felix Salmon
So.
Pastor Dobbins
So that takes us into the Book of Acts, where we want to take a minute and give you some historical background before we delve over. And we're just going to stay in the first chapter of Acts tonight, just to keep you focused. And we'll be reading from that first chapter, but just some of those historical points. Dr. Oscar, about the Book of Acts, if you.
Dr. Oscar Williams
Y' all know we got slides, so just get ready. But if you could put that up. So the Book of Acts and, and I'm on tag team with Pastor Dobbins, who, Who helped write Acts, I'm sure with Luke.
Dr. Crump
Were you back?
Felix Salmon
Are y' all praying for me?
Dr. Oscar Williams
But, but, but just because. And one of the things that. What I love about what we try to do on Walk it out is that in. In all you're getting, get an understanding. And when. Sometimes again when we're reading, it's good to understand context. So the book of Acts, 28 chapters, covers a period of 30 years, 60 name people. One of the things that's very thematic in the Book of Acts is Peter and Paul. Neither one of them are credited as the authors of the Book of Acts. You can go to the next one. The author would be Luke. Luke the evangelist, the physician, historian, companion. He was a gentile. There are certain things about Luke that are so, you know, unique. One is Luke was not an eyewitness to Jesus, but because of his occupation, he took such copious notes. So he was a companion to Paul and to Peter on their journeys. So we are getting the account of someone who took down everything that was told to him by eyewitnesses. Also you have to understand that Luke is the author of Luke. So when you read Acts, Acts is actually a continuation of, of the book of Luke. You will find that at the beginning of the book of Luke he talks about writing to Theophilus. When you start in the book of Acts, he has the same salutation writing to Theophilus, who some historians say Theophilus was the legal representation for Paul. So Luke is sending this letter to Theophilus because at some point Theophilus is going to have to defend Paul. So when you, you'll see some of the language. So what I did in studying, if you end with the passage in Luke, I think it's 24, 25, whatever that ending chapter is where he ends and where he starts. Acts is a continuation. So he starts to expound on what happened when Jesus is meeting them. And I think there's one more if you can go to the next one. So briefly, Luke's connection, and I'm gonna tag Pastor Dobbins in to Peter and Paul. So there is a connection to Peter we see in Acts 1 through 12. And then there's a connection to Paul. And what is so interesting, when you read in the language, he will sometimes substitute in third person, he will go to first person narrative and he'll say we were traveling. And so we get a real insight as to the dialogue that was happening. Even in the book of Luke you will see his descriptions of John the Baptist, his descriptions of certain miracles, his description of of Jesus lineage is different from the other books.
Dr. Crump
Why?
Dr. Oscar Williams
Because he is giving a much more detailed account of what he received through the apostles direction.
Pastor Dobbins
Can I jump in before you, Pastor? Just as I want to go back to Theophilus, because although he was actually legal representation, the name Theophilus held a lot of different meanings. And one of those meanings, although it was actually a title more so than a name, it also represented a people that were non Jews. The name or the term Theophilus means friend of God. And at the end of Luke, Luke tells Theophilus that I'm writing to you to certainly confirm what you have seen and heard, to let you know all of this is true. So the fact of the matter is in several different occasions, on several different occasions, however it is interpreted, it can also mean a people. And I'm talking about the term Theophilus because they say he was writing not just to the Jews, but to the non Jews or the Gentiles. Another thing I want to bring up too is that the title theophilus was also means your excellency. At one point, I think it was Paul that was speaking and he spoke to. I can't remember the name of the person he was talking to, but he called him your excellency from the term theophilus. Because the term theophilus is also an academic term which refers to doctor, which refers to lawyer, attorney. So I wanted to throw that in there because as we're talking here, although he's talking maybe to somebody specific, he's also talking to a people. That's why it's recorded in scripture, so that we can see and we can know as being friends of God that we're no longer slaves, but we're friends of God. And Jesus said, I've told you everything because you a friend. I. I'm telling you everything that the Father has told me.
Dr. Crump
That's good.
Felix Salmon
Oh, that's fire. Oh, God. The book of Acts is probably one of my favorite books outside of the book of Revelation. Shout out to the potter south school of ministry, we get to really dive into the book of Acts. My quick summary in theory is, first of all, I have a lot of respect for Luke. Luke was a physician, according to Colossians probably 4 and 14. We will see the detail here. Because Luke was a physician, he knew just what the doctor was really ordered. The master doctor, Jesus. The book of Luke, as Dr. Oscar has so eloquently articulated, is the first portion, acts being the second portion. The book of Luke's 24 chapters is about. There's a reason I'm saying this. The book of Luke's 24 chapters is 25,944 words. If you add those 25944 words to the book of Acts, which has 24,250. Luke is actually credited for writing over 50,000 words in the Bible. Many scholars say Paul wrote the majority of the New Testament. But actually Paul, all of Paul's books together about the 12 to 14, depending on if you give him credit for Hebrews. If you don't give him credit for Hebrews, it's actually at 49,000. So I'm submitting that Luke is the real star of the beginning of the church. The book of Acts, we say the Acts of the apostles, but it's really the Acts of the Holy Ghost, the Acts of the Holy Spirit. So when it digs down what we're getting ready to break down into this chapter number one, it's only 26 verses, but it's 661 words. It's getting ready to fillet open everything that is about to happen in the text. Last thing I will say, Theophilus. One of the meanings is the friend of God. Another meaning is lover of God. Theophilus was a lover of God. It would be like you sitting down with Bishop or first lady saying what happened in 1996. You all know we're approaching our 30 year anniversary. What did God do here in Dallas, Texas at 677 Keys Blvd? And Bishop would be like Luke saying, this is what happened, my child. And therein we step into Acts, chapter number one.
Dr. Crump
This is extremely important when it comes to Luke. And we talk about historical value and him being a physician. He's chosen for a reason. He is a physician. He is a doctor. A doctor understands details all the way down to the veins, to the blood vessels, to your. So God chose somebody who would be detailed in their writings that will leave no question about the historical value. So don't ever think because you're gifted in one area, God can't choose to use you in another area because he's a physician, not an author. But God uses a physician to become an author because God knows he will use the detail of the position to articulate it to the people as it relate to Luke as it relates to the Acts of the apostle.
Pastor Dobbins
Let me, let me, hold on, let me say this, let me say this. I got to take this as school because if you're in a doctoral program, you're required as a dissertation to write about 50,000 words. So in those 50,000 words, you got to do a method, a methodology, you got to do introduction, you've got to do the terms. So what we see in Luke's writing absolutely justifies who he is as a doctor because it has all of those elements in the 50,000 or 49,000 plus words that he wrote. 50,000 that he wrote because that's academics.
Dr. Oscar Williams
Well, can you, I think just you said something to underscore. Also again, just to reiterate, if you're new to us, we. This is an interactive, engaging walk it out. So each week we invite you to ask your questions, whether you're sending them online or even in the house. Get those questions because I know you've been studying the book of Acts and all the, the other gospels. I can tell by your face you have it. But that's okay. But we invite you to engage in this discussion. Do not sit on as an outlier. Jump into the middle of this discussion. No question is too minuscule that we cannot answer or address. And if we don't know it, the Holy Spirit is here. He answers all things. So there are deacons in the aisle. You can at any time come to the aisle and ask your question to bring your Bible, because we may challenge you at that. But I want to go back to. You said something that was important to note, that Luke was writing to the Gentiles. And one of the things that as I. As I dive into Scripture, one of the things I always try to do is in my mind ask myself, who was this letter intended for? Because the language, the nuance, all of it follows suit. If you're writing to a Jewish congregation or if you're writing to a Judish Jewish audience, there's a different nuance, there's a different level of detail. There are things that are assumed that would be known. But what is amazing about Luke and his writing, when you read the book of Luke and the book of Acts, there's such graphic detail in stuff that Gentiles need to believe. So we get a different lineage. When we look at the book of Luke, then we look at Matthew.
Dr. Crump
Why?
Dr. Oscar Williams
Because the Gentiles had to believe from a different perspective. When you read the whole book of Acts, as I know you will do, you will see him talk about things and use terms that Gentiles in that day could relate to. So I just wanted to add that because you put that, that was so good. He was writing to the Gentiles, us for our belief system.
Felix Salmon
I just wanted to say one thing, and I think we're going to go to the text so we can actually put it in context so that you'll follow along with us in studying one of the names of the meaning typically to Hebrew meaning, from my understanding of Luke, means giver of light. If you've been in a dark place, just read the Book of Acts. The book of Acts promises to shed light on who you are, what you're going through, and who God is, is in your present situation. The name Luke means giver of light. Luke is about to give us light.
Pastor Dobbins
That is amazing. So we're going to go to Scripture and read and I want to start Acts 1, verse 1. And if you'll pull it up in the NIV, we're going to toggle between the NIV and the new King James Version. So at certain places, if you don't have that Bible, just look on the screen and we'll be reading it together. So Acts 1 and 1, I'm reading from the NIV, it says in my former book, we just talked about that Luke, Theophilus. I wrote about all that Jesus began to do and to teach until the day he was taken up to heaven. After giving instructions through the Holy Ghost, Holy Spirit to the apostles he had chosen. After his suffering, he showed himself to these men and gave many convincing proofs that he was alive. He appeared to them over a period of 40 days and spoke about the kingdom of God. On one occasion, when, while he was eating with them, he gave them this command. Now let's switch over to the new King James Version. And being assembled together with them, he commanded them not to depart from Jerusalem, but to wait for the promise of the Father, which he said, you have heard of me, keep going. For John, truly baptized with water, but you shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost not many days from now. Therefore, when they had come together, they asked him, saying, lord, will you at this time restore the kingdom to Israel? And he said to them, it is not for you to know times or seasons which the Father has put in his own authority, but you shall receive power when the Holy Ghost has come upon you. And you shall be witnesses to me in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria and to the ends of the earth. Now, when he had spoken these things while they watched, he was taken up, and a cloud received him out of their sight. And while they looked steadfast, steadfastly toward heaven, as he went up, behold two men stood by them in white apparel, who also said, men of Galilee, why do you stand gazing up into heaven? This same Jesus who was taken up from you into heaven will so come in like somebody say, like manner. Like manner as you saw him go into heaven. Then they returned to. They went back to Jerusalem from, from the mount called Olivet, which is near Jerusalem, a Sabbath day's journey. And when they had entered, they went up into the upper room where they were staying. Peter, James, John and Andrew, Philip and Thomas, Bartholomew and Matthew, James the son of Alphaeus and Simon the Zealot, and Judas the son of James. These all continue with one accord in prayer and supplication with the women and Mary the mother of Jesus and Jesus, brothers and the Church, say Amen.
Dr. Crump
Amen.
Pastor Dobbins
I mean, when you get to reading the Word, oh my goodness, it just feels good to read the Word. So we're talking now about how we talked about Thomas and those elements, or those relations between Thomas and. And the Book of Acts, how we're talking about the witness and we're talking about the waiting and the evidence. Uh huh. And the order. So I'm gonna let y' all have it.
Dr. Crump
I love the way. If you go back to verse number one. I love the way Thomas. I'm sorry. I love the way Luke writes and he begins to set it up. He says, here's what I wrote about what Jesus began. That word began is important. He said he only started it, which means it's our job to continue it. He says what he began to do and teach. So, which means not only he's a doer, he sat down, and it's our responsibility to teach, but we get so quick to run to verse number eight, and the Holy Ghost will come upon you. So when Thomas gets his confirmation, we talked about him going to India and spreading the gospel of the continent. But wait a minute. Before you go. You gotta wait. See, the problem with some of us is we want to go with no power. We think because you have instructions, you have authority. See, just because you have instructions, that don't mean you've been in power with the authority. So now that Thomas has been given instructions, now Luke began to write. Hey, what do I need to get the authority to go fulfill the promises that God says he's going to do in my life? And I'm afraid we're living in a dispensation of time now where somebody just gets a word and they just want to go without being authorized to go. Because we get so leaning in on the word of God without understanding. I need authority to do what God has given me to do. So not just teach it, but to do it. And therein lies the responsibility of waiting on what God doing. Because we're wait. It's waiting season. Waiting isn't a cuss word.
Pastor Dobbins
It is not.
Dr. Crump
It's a proving word.
Pastor Dobbins
Yeah, yeah, yeah. It's a proving word.
Dr. Crump
It's approving.
Pastor Dobbins
He's proven in that season. So. So then let's just talk a minute about how important it is to wait.
Dr. Oscar Williams
Well, to that point, and I can't remember, I think it's two or three. I was looking at this because I'm. I have a fixation with numbers. And anytime we see numbers in scripture, you know there is. You should pay close attention. And so we see a number that's very, very crucial where Luke lets us know that Jesus labored with them for 40 days. 40 days. We can't skip past that because 40 is an important number. 40 in scripture speaks to several things. One of them is purification. The other is preparation. How do we know this? How long did Jesus stay in the wilderness?
Dr. Crump
There you.
Dr. Oscar Williams
Come on. Come on now. Bible scholars. And what was, what was happening when. While he was in the wilderness, he was being prepared for ministry. Okay, how long did it rain on the earth when Noah was in, in the ark? Come on now. Come on now. There was a what purification happening during that 40 day period? Israel stayed. Israel wandered in the wilderness for how many years? Don't say 40 days. How many years? Okay.
Felix Salmon
All right.
Dr. Oscar Williams
I was going to give you the answer. I didn't want to trip you up.
Dr. Crump
Yes.
Dr. Oscar Williams
So when we see this number 40, every time you see any number in Scripture, 3 speaks to the number Trinity. 6 is the number of man. 7 is the number of completion. 8 is the number of new beginnings. I'm getting to his territory. But there is something with numbers. God. 2 speaks to the, to the number of agreement. So when you see that it's not by happenstance where two or three are gathered together in his name, what he's saying is, where there is a agreement, I'm gonna be there as the third in the midst. Okay, so when we see the number 40, Jesus was intentional with staying with them for 40 days because I'm preparing you for what is coming. Don't think I'm just happenstanceably just here, but I'm. I. He left on the 40th day. They were getting ready to go into a feast, which we'll talk about next week. But that 40 is important because you have to understand what. When we see that Christ is intentional about saying, I am preparing you for something. And when you get to that end of preparation, I have to leave because something else is coming. You have ended the period of preparation. Now you're getting ready to receive.
Felix Salmon
Listen, you. You ripped that to shreds. Can we give God a praise? I. I can't focus in on that territory. It'll take me somewhere because my mind is built on numbers. 40 being the period of testing and probation. Here's what I'm stuck on. Jesus got up from the dead. If God could raise Jesus from the dead, what could you do? If God could raise Jesus from the dead and show him alive for 40 days with many infallible proofs, we thought it was something. When he walked on water, we thought it was something. When he healed the woman with the issue of blood, we thought it was something. We saw Lazarus come forth. We thought it was something. When he healed two blind man and blind Bartimaeus. But what did Jesus do in the 40 days? There's still so many miracles going on. What hit me as you were speaking about 40 is what would happen if you knew you only had 40 days with Jesus? What would you ask? How would you drink from his wisdom? What would you do if you knew you only had 40 more days with your spouse? Somebody right now is facing a medical situation. What would you do if you knew you only had 40 more days with your child, your friend, your pastor? What would you do if you only had 40 days? We're entering Acts chapter number one, knowing that this is the period whereby Jesus is speaking to them. They are excited. They don't know he's going to leave again. They're in the middle of just enjoying his presence because he kept his promise. And therein gets instructions to actually wait from Jesus. What? What? Hit me and I'll drop it here. What hit me, Pastor Don, is Jesus stared up their faith. They believed, he kept his word. Three days, I'll destroy this temple. Three days I'll build, destroy the symbol. Three days, I'll raise it up, build it back up. They got their faith and hope up again. And then Jesus left again.
Dr. Crump
You know what's incredible? That if you took what you just said and you knew you had 40 days, what's really important is the questions you would ask because you want to gain wisdom. But I'm concerned is that the disciples aren't asking the right questions in the 40 days. The question they ask is, are you restoring the kingdom of Israel? You're not even asking the right question. But Jesus in His grace, redirects them. Stop worrying about times and seasons, worried about purpose and destiny. So I have you with me. You're going to leave me? I don't know. You leave me and the first thing I ask you is, are you going to restore the time? Are you going to put me back in place? Are you going to put Israel back in place? You're asking the wrong question. But God says, well, Jesus says, listen, hey, don't even worry about that. It's in the Father's hand. That's his authority. But what he says is stop worrying about dates and start worrying about destiny. When you going to bring me out, God, I don't care when you bring me out, as long as whenever you bring me out, I'm gonna do the assignment that you place on my life. When is this thing gonna change? I don't care when it changes. You already told me it's gonna change. All I know is you put an assignment on my life. I can't die until the assignments being fulfilled. So whatever the enemy says, he's a liar. So Whatever they said that I can't go, I can do it. So I'm not worried about the date. I'm only worried about the assignment and the destiny assigned to the date. And we spend so much time worried about the date and not the destiny.
Dr. Oscar Williams
Can you go to that Scripture?
Dr. Crump
Because there's.
Dr. Oscar Williams
There's something in there that's. That's so potent. What we just. Verse six. Can you go to verse six? Because there's two things so. So context. So to what Pastor Don just said. They asked this question because in their minds, everything that they've learned about Jesus to that point points to Old Testament readings that say, when he comes, he's going to establish the kingdom. So they think, we've seen it all. You've taught us. You walked us through the scripture, and so this is the culmination of what you're going to do. And Jesus says something so unique, and it's a nuance. He says, go to. Yeah, the next verse, seven should be seven. And he said to them, it is not for you to know times or seasons. Don't miss that. Don't miss that. Because in our life, everybody is in a time and going through a season. And sometimes we conflate the two, sometimes we think they're the same thing, but there is a time and place for everything. Leviticus, Ecclesiastes tells us this, and there is a season for everything. And he is saying, they're looking at the wrong thing. And Jesus is saying, you got to both watch the time and the season. And that hit me when I was reading it, because I started to ask myself question, how much time am I spending in the season that I'm in? Am. Am I making good.
Dr. Crump
Wait a minute. Wait a minute. You are not gonna run past that.
Dr. Oscar Williams
I was gonna walk past. No, you gonna.
Dr. Crump
No, you gonna run. Oh, how much time. How much time am I spending in the season that I'm in?
Dr. Oscar Williams
And am I. Am I using my time right in the season that I'm in? My God. See, I'm just talking about stuff that hit me in the gut because I'm saying, okay, okay, to your point, they are looking for Jesus to do something in a certain season. Jesus is saying, it is not for you to know times or seasons. It's just for you to walk in authority. God understands. God walks through time and season. So we're too busy. Oh, God, get me out of this season. Get me out of this season. And God is saying, what are you doing in this season? I didn't ask you to be A discerner of your times and seasons. What I want you to do is walk in power in both the time and the season that you're in. That's the next verse. He says. He says, go to number eight. He says, what? But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come on you. So whatever time or season you in, what you should be looking for, what you should be asking for is give me power to walk through this season. Give me power to make good use of the time that I have in this season.
Dr. Crump
Wait a minute.
Dr. Oscar Williams
You.
Dr. Crump
You. I ain't gonna let that go.
Felix Salmon
Come on. Come on.
Dr. Crump
We gonna moonwalk back again. That man said, am I spending too much time in the season? So there's a thing called the 8020 rule. You can. When you spend 100% of your time in 20% of your problem, you'll think everything is bad.
Felix Salmon
Preach it.
Dr. Crump
You spend too much time in the season that God has brought you out of. Man, I could have ran when you just said that. Because sometimes our season is up, but we stay in it. You spending overtime in a season that has lapsed because God has shifted you out and you still living in Lodobar, not understanding. You control the time while God control the season. The season is up, and why are you spending the time in it? Somebody should shout, my time is over. I'm. I'm through being miserable. I'm through being depressed. I'm through with anxiety. And I said I wasn't gonna yell, but, boy, you just brought something out of me.
Dr. Oscar Williams
Times dictates. Times dictates take seasons. You are looking at the wrong thing. You're looking at the season. And you should be saying, God, help me to abide with the time that you've given, because I don't want to waste the season that I'm in.
Felix Salmon
Well, the.
Dr. Crump
All right. Tag.
Dr. Oscar Williams
Tag you.
Felix Salmon
Well. Well, the problem. And Dr. Crump is going to jump in this. The problem is they were looking for external power.
Dr. Crump
Come on.
Felix Salmon
You must understand that the Romans had seized Jerusalem. So they're trying to say, give us power. Power so that we will never go through crucifixion again. These are traumatic people who have been triggered by the trauma of seeing Jesus on the cross. What they're really saying is, lord, I don't want that to be me or any of us. But here's what the Lord is saying. You're looking external, but I'm trying to give you intrinsic power. I'm trying to give you internal power. If you get this internal power, it doesn't matter what time or season you have, your mind mind has been changed. Your mind has been renewed. When you get the Holy Ghost, oh, I'm. I'm trying not to get there. When you, when you let it sit on you, when you wait for this thing that I'm about to drop on you, when I download the anointing, when I download it, there won't be no depression. When I feel you, nothing else in you that is not like me can stay. When I. Oh, let me stop.
Dr. Crump
Let me stop.
Felix Salmon
Sometimes we want microwave blue blessings, and God is trying to say, I want to marinate who you're going to be sit in that oven, baby. I can hear old Mother in Missouri. She said, baby, you ain't done cooking yet. Go get, go, go, go. Get back on your knees. Go, go, go. Pray at that all to get, get, get fully filled. Because when you get fully filled, then you have internal power. You won't have to wait for the external power. You're crying out for flesh. And I'm saying, I want to build your spirit. Dr. Cr.
Dr. Crump
So go ahead, doctor.
Pastor Dobbins
So. So the times that we're living in, where the Holy Ghost has lost its importance, where it's no longer needed, if you will, we got to bring you back to a place because we are kind of right where they were at that time.
Dr. Crump
That's good.
Pastor Dobbins
We are living in those times again. I remember when we went to Africa back in October, they said to us, the group that went with me said, we are praying for you because you're going through what we've already been through. What brought them out was their strength, their power, their connection, their relationship not just with each other, but with the God that they saw. And if we can at this time get back to what we need, which is the Holy Ghost, that we can walk through this time, because this is a season. We're in a season right now. And this season is going to be determined on how long it takes us to get in filled with the Holy Ghost so that the time will be shortened. The Bible says that the time will have to be shortened before the very elect is deceived in this moment. So, so we're in a season. This is where the Word got to come to life to the people of God, the Word. You got to see the Word for what it is because it is trying to tell us where we are. We're in this season. We're trying to ask when our government is going to be restored, when we going to be like we used to be, when we going to have it like. And the Lord said, it's not about that. It's not about the time and the season that you're in right now. But you got to receive some power.
Dr. Crump
Come on.
Pastor Dobbins
To go through this time.
Felix Salmon
Talk about that.
Pastor Dobbins
The only thing that's gonna get us through this is the power.
Dr. Oscar Williams
Because you turned to me around.
Dr. Crump
You turned me around.
Dr. Oscar Williams
I'm spinning back.
Dr. Crump
I'll spin it back.
Dr. Oscar Williams
Because. Because you gotta tag me. You gotta tag me. You gotta tag me. Because he sends them back to Jerusalem.
Pastor Dobbins
He sends them back to the situation.
Dr. Oscar Williams
You have to understand. You started hitting on it. I want you to go there. Jerusalem was a place of crucifixion. Jerusalem was the place they were scared of. He said, I'm going to send you back to the place that you're scared of, but you're not going alone. When you go back there, I'm going to give you power that's going to give you the authority to walk through the season. Because every season has a time that it will be up. You don't have to run from the season. You just got to walk through the season with authority. That's why I'm sending you back there. I'm sending you back to that community. I'm sending you back to that family. You've been running away. No, go.
Dr. Crump
Go back. Go back and wait.
Dr. Oscar Williams
Go back and wait.
Dr. Crump
Please put verse seven back up there again. We gonna get to that question. Put verse seven up back there. The text said, he said to them, it is not for you to know.
Felix Salmon
We'll never know.
Dr. Crump
You would never know. Which means you need faith, which means some you got. Sometimes you got to operate without the details. Sometimes you got to go back to Jerusalem and he hadn't shown you everything yet. Sometimes you got to believe God, even though you don't have the details. The problem with some of us, we need God. Show me how it's gonna work out. Show me how this is gonna happen. God said, no, no, no, no. You don't need no details. We going to the other side. You're healed.
Pastor Dobbins
We don't know how to pray as we ought.
Dr. Crump
But.
Pastor Dobbins
But, but, but, but, but the Holy Ghost.
Felix Salmon
The what?
Pastor Dobbins
The Holy Ghost.
Dr. Crump
I said I wasn't gonna act like this.
Pastor Dobbins
I'm sorry. I'm sorry. But, but, but we don't know what to ask sometimes. Is that what you said? We don't know the right questions to ask. And if you're not filled with the Holy Ghost, you really won't know. And the Holy Ghost comes to lead and to guide us into all truth. And that's what this is about. I'm sorry. Come on.
Felix Salmon
No, no, no, no.
Pastor Dobbins
I'm trying to help yourself.
Felix Salmon
Go ahead.
Pastor Dobbins
But you got to receive the power. That's what happens in the wait. When you're in the wait, you're waiting for that thing that's going to help you get through this season and this time. And that thing is the Holy Ghost. It's the evidence. It's the evidence that Thomas had to have.
Dr. Crump
That's the evidence.
Pastor Dobbins
It's the evidence. And then you can't be a witness until you have the evidence.
Dr. Oscar Williams
You have the evidence.
Felix Salmon
The interesting thing here, the reason I'm a bit pensive on this point, is because the Lord had them to go back to Jerusalem. You must understand that they were initially at the Mount of Olives. Oh, God. Study the text.
Dr. Crump
Wait a minute.
Felix Salmon
The Mount of Olives. Olives representing crushing somebody in this room. Oh, I don't know who I'm talking to. Maybe it's just you're going through this crushing, and because your life is like the crushing of an olive, you're about to excrete oil and glory. You cannot get the anointing without the crushing. Oh, God.
Dr. Crump
God.
Felix Salmon
And just when they got used to the anointing and the crushing, God says, go back to Jerusalem. I. It confused me. I said, wait a minute, God. Tell me what you're saying. They were at the Mount of Olives, but you told them to go back to Jerusalem. Why would you tell them to go back? I would think that they will be anointed in the Mount of Olives. The Lord is telling them, and he told. He's telling you there's another anointing. Oh, God. Your anointing is just not for crushing. Your anointing is getting ready to be fulfilling. So there's one crush. There's one anointing that crushes you, that allows you to excrete out glory. And there's another anointing that drops it down because some of you have been given out. Now it's time for you to be filled. I don't know who in this room is about to be filled tonight. You've been given out to everybody and everything. There is a feeling. There is a download. I see an abundance of rain in my spirit. I see spiritual gloat that's about to fill you your belly. You would not know, need to know the seasons or the times if you had faith for the power. The power feels, the power encourages, the power of leads. The power gods The Holy. Oh, yeah. I know we were not supposed to be talking about the Holy Ghost tonight,
Pastor Dobbins
but I'm just right here, Right here, right here. I just want to talk about this because I want to bring it to where we are right now. We are. The laws are being turned back. And. And. And what was going on in Jerusalem was the crucifixion, right? And they didn't want to go back to that. Our country is going back to what. What we used to be a part of. We have been to the Mount of Olives.
Dr. Oscar Williams
We.
Pastor Dobbins
We have seen the glory. The Lord has brought his word down on. On us. But now he said, now you got to go back. So things are being turned backwards, and we're being sent backwards into something that if we don't have the God that we serve, we won't be able to come out of. So we got to see it for what it is right now. This is our Jerusalem.
Dr. Oscar Williams
This is our seven days journey. Well, we got one question that came up, and then we got you, sister. How would we know the season is up?
Felix Salmon
Oh, God. Oh, God. Passion. First of all, the passion of Christ. Typically one of the greatest movies I've ever seen in my life. Compassion. Come here, Passion. When you start seeing your passion evade you, it's a sign that the road is about to end. Some of you don't have the passion and the fulfillment to my brother or my sister online. Lashonda, what I'm saying here, I believe when it says you're asking, how would we know the season is up? It is predicated upon your passion and your urge to follow God in a particular room, realm. Sometimes God closes doors so that. That there's an opening of doors. Sometimes isolation leads to revelation, and sometimes a closed door pushes you to an open door. You know, your season is changing when something in you does not. You no longer have the passion and the fulfillment for where you were. Somebody help me out with that.
Pastor Dobbins
Yeah, I just want to say this, and I've probably said it before, so charge it to my head, not my heart. When I first moved to the south, before I moved to the South, I didn't know about Juneteenth. I didn't know. I guess I was sheltered. I'm from the Midwest. I didn't know any of this. And when I came and began to learn about Juneteenth and what it was about. About the slaves being freed, but they didn't know they were free.
Dr. Crump
Yeah. Yeah.
Pastor Dobbins
I'm. I'm like, wow, you. How did you not know you were free? You know, how did the. How did the. How did you get free and the word not get to you? And you were free all the time? So I. I'm trying to tie that into what you were saying and into her question. How would we know the season is up? Sometimes you don't know the season is up. And I think Pastor Don said it earlier, but it is. It's not for you to know the time or the season, whether it's up or whether it's on. That's why the Holy Ghost is important, because you need the power. Whether you're in it or out of it, the Holy Ghost is there to lead and to guide you. Because we sometimes don't even know the season is up. Sometimes we don't. We're going into a season and don't even know we're going into the season. We try. We. We do so much to try and identify because we want control. We want control. We want to control the in and the out, the beginning and the end. We want to control. And he said, it is not up to you. It's up to the Father, and it's not up to you. Leave it alone. Leave the time alone. Leave a season alone and walk. It takes faith and trust to walk through these seasons and these times. Go ahead.
Dr. Oscar Williams
Let me just add to that, just to piggyback real quick. And we go into that. I think it's also a natural thing as it is on earth. Let it be in heaven. It's a natural spiritual thing. God has given us indicators as to when seasons change. You want to know if the season is up or the season is changing. Look at what's happening around you. We have, in a natural sense, the changing of weather, the changing of climate, the changing of leaves on the tree. And if you are looking around, if you're discerning, and if you are cognizant of your surroundings and what is happening, you will know if your season is changing. As it is in the natural, so it is in the spirit. You want to know if there's a spiritual season. You changing. Look around, you, see what's happening around you. Be discerning, be in tune to where you are so that you can see. What season am I entering? Because the worst thing is to be wearing the wrong clothes in the wrong season. You can walk outside in this summer heat if you want to with that coat on. Listen, that means you weren't paying attention and now you're dressed for the wrong season and figure. Trying to figure out why you're uncomfortable.
Pastor Dobbins
But the Bible also says that we won't know the time, the times and the seasons are changing. You don't know fall from summer. You don't know spring from winter. So it's changing. So in those. In those situations, how do you know this all takes us back to having the Holy Ghost? Because it is the one that leads and guides us into all truth. So it's the discerner of truth. Sorry. So I really enjoyed the lesson. Am I. Her mic is not on? Okay. It is on.
Dr. Crump
Okay.
Pastor Dobbins
Yes. I'm really enjoying the lesson. I never made the connection between Luke and Acts. At the end of Luke, Jesus expounds and reveals himself. He basically walks the disciples through the scriptures to show how he's the fulfillment of the scriptures. Scripture. So that was the thing that came to mind when y' all mentioned the connection. So he revealed himself at the end of Luke, and then there's a wait, and then there's a go. It made me think of the paralytic man where he says, take up your bed and walk. So it made me. Now I see Pentecost differently. I drew up in the Pentecostal tradition when we. When, you know, power came down, you start thinking about miracles and different things, things like that. But when he told them to go to Judah, Samaria, etcetera, there was a persecution that actually caused a disbursement. So now my thinking is the power isn't just to do the miraculous thing. It's to endure the hard thing. And I was just wanting you guys to make the connection of the first thing that Jesus did is reveal himself, and then he ascended, told them to wait, and then told them to go. So there seems like there's a. There's a connection that I. But I would love for you guys to expound on that.
Dr. Oscar Williams
Yeah, so. So, I mean, you did a great job. You did the expounding. Yeah. And. And it is that. It is what. What happens is Luke ends it. And we see. Because even in the end of Luke, we see Jesus ascending. When we get to Acts, it is expounding on that experience. It is expounding on. What did Jesus tell them during that time? What did he tell them at the Mount of Olivet? What was that conversation? And there. And he gave them instruction. What was the instruction? Go back. Second instruction. Wait. You know, and then we haven't got to it. We trying to get to it, but then. Then as he's talking, the Bible says he starts to ascend up. And they are standing there gazing. And those same two angels, y' all remember Them angels, Because Luke told us about those angels. If you read the end of Luke, those same angels that were at the to tomb, telling them, why are you looking for the living amongst the dead? Ask them the same question. Why do you stand here gazing the same Jesus that you saw in like manner is coming back down. And so what does that tell us? That tells us that sometimes we're stuck in a posture when God is trying to get us to move and change positions.
Dr. Crump
And to add to that, what Dr. Oscar just said is there's also important. I am big on instructions. I love the way Dobbins put how the oil is important. How are you anointed? Sometimes you can be anointed and ignorant. So even the anointing is submitted to authority. So whatever you got on the Mount Olive, he says, now go back. So just because you're anointed, that don't mean you automatically go. You need to sit another level of power that is coming that you're going to need to execute what the anointing gave you. And I think it's really important that just because you got the oil, because you have a title, that don't mean you automatically need to go and do it. I think now this is a great teacher for us. For God is saying, you got the fulfillment on Wednesday. You heard what they said about Pentecost. So before you shout, let's see if you can follow instructions.
Pastor Dobbins
And, and to. To that point, I just want to add this. If we go back to verse one where it's talking, where Luke is saying, in my former book Theophilus, I wrote about all that Jesus began to do and to teach. So it's here in scripture. To your point. Actually Luke and Acts actually parallel or go next to each other. So it's a continuation of what you're talking about. Luke, the book may end, but it's picked up as he recounts, recaps what he wrote in Luke. He recapped it, same thing. He's now just bringing it to pass. So this is it in action, right? We saw it there, but now we see him on the other side once he has risen, right? We're now talking about the things he did, but now we're about to see him go up. So they connect one with the other.
Felix Salmon
I want to say that here's what I sense with you. A deeper calling to trace Jesus in the Old Testament. That's what I hear. Am I right? I hear I am the refiner's fire. I am the fire that was on the inside of Jeremiah that's why Isaiah said, for he was wounded for my transgression, he was brute. I am your passover lamb. I am Melchizedek. See, I, I what I'm. What I'm hearing you say is Jesus possibly sat down with the disciples. Now do you see. Now do you see that I was in the the lions den with Daniel? Now do you see that I was the fourth one in the fire with Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego? Now do you see that I was the one that told Malachi, behold the messenger coming. I'm the messenger. What I sense for you is a deeper push in the Spirit to trace Jesus in the Old Testament. And it's going to be electrifying when you study it. Bless you.
Dr. Oscar Williams
But even with that, you, you touched on it because we see it in Luke. So when we talked about the walk of Emmaus, we see Jesus taking them through the Scriptures. He's not taking the New Testament because it hasn't been written yet. He's taking them through the prophets. He's showing them how he shows up. And we see it because we talked about it, where the teaching was so rich, they still didn't know who he was. But because of the teaching, their hearts burned. And it wasn't until the breaking of the bread that their eyes were open. And they didn't say, oh my God, we've been with Jesus. They said, oh, didn't our hearts burn at what he taught us? Because what Jesus was the reason why we talked about this before. We'll recap next week. The reason why Jesus, in our estimation, did not let them know who he was. He said, because I want you to have so much evidence. I want to walk you through this scripture. This is what this 40 days. That's why we talked about 40 days being preparation. Because it wasn't just the two disciples on the road to Emmaus. He spent time with them, the Bible says, showing them truths. So he's taking them through again. There is no New Testament at the time, so don't look at Matthew, Mark, Luke and John. That's not what he's referencing. He's taking him through the prophets. He's taking him to Joel. So when we talk about it next week, that's why Peter stands up and says in the book of Joel, this is what was prophesied. Because they got all of that instruction from Jesus.
Pastor Dobbins
Process doesn't begin. So the process doesn't begin in a waiting. The process becomes in the revelation of Christ.
Felix Salmon
That's, that's the.
Dr. Crump
Come on Now.
Felix Salmon
Exactly.
Dr. Crump
Come on. That's great.
Felix Salmon
There it is.
Dr. Crump
Yes, sir.
Dr. Oscar Williams
Excellent.
Felix Salmon
How you doing, Pastor? Good.
Dr. Oscar Williams
I just want you all to expound upon, because most oftentimes we see in the text that we read in the text of Luke. But can you take us Back to the 60 AD error, to where Luke had the testing trials to even write the letters and how that came about. Because even with him writing the letters, there was difficulty because of paper at that time and also because of the political climate that was going on that Pastor Crumpton talked about. So can you expound upon those details behind the text of what Luke went. Went through at that time? They making us work tonight.
Dr. Crump
Listen, I love it.
Dr. Oscar Williams
And that's what you're supposed to do.
Dr. Crump
Come on. It's really. It's really a great question. Because one of the things oftentimes people, myself as well, we fail to do, is we read what is written without considering what it took to be written.
Pastor Dobbins
Right.
Dr. Crump
So in other words, okay, let me come and get you. They look at how you look, but they don't know what it took to be who you are today. Same thing as relate to Luke's writing. So now it's not comfortable that he's writing this. It's not like he's writing a book saying, hey, let me get this to the publisher. It's gonna go, how do we write this in secret? How do we move this word in secret that it still becomes powerful? And now that's a power all by itself. Matter of fact, that is a navigation of the Holy Ghost all by itself to say, now how do we get this accomplished? Because Luke is even threatened to write it. He could be killed just for writing these things down. That is documented. So, no, I absolutely, absolutely think that's something that we should even hone in on. Even in your own life. Don't just read it. Find out what it took to write it.
Pastor Dobbins
And I want to add to that, because the advantage that he had was. He was a doctor. Yeah, yeah, he had. Yeah. And he was not one of the disciples. So he. Right. He was not eyewitness. So what gave him the advantage of writing was he had access to things that others may not have had access to to help him to write something that maybe the disciples could not have written because they were actually living it. Right. Paul in prison, everything was happening. So they didn't have access like Luke did because of his status, because he was a doctor. He was. He was acknowledged and recognized as someone of high academic status, which gave him access that they didn't have.
Felix Salmon
I think. I think you got your answer there. But here's what I was telling. I couldn't remember the name of the movie. If I'm correct, here's what you're. Your question made me think of the Book of Eli. Is that a movie? Denzel Washington, Am I correct on that? We're living in a season in time. If you don't know the word in your belly, what happens if AI, the Internet, WI fi, and everything else goes down? Do you have enough Holy Ghost in you to actually know the text? Luke had it internal for the book of Luke, and he had it internal, eternal to also write acts. I hope that helps. We have a question online that says Pastor Don is going to answer this because he's the smartest. How important is closure? And do you really need it to move forward?
Dr. Crump
So this is my simple answer. How important is closure? To me, that's the individual thing. And how do I really. What? And do I really need to move forward? To me, once I move forward, that's closure. Once I move, that's close. Because what I'm not going to do is I'm not going to give energy. I'm not going to be loyal to last season. So while you're waiting on closure, it's almost as though you're waiting on somebody else for closure. I don't need you for closure. Once I'm done, I'm done. So once I decided to move, that's closure for me. Me again, that's a personal answer. That's not biblical. That is. That's me.
Pastor Dobbins
Well, it might be, but the Bible says occupy till I come. So I say that because waiting doesn't mean sitting still. Waiting means something is happening during that time. If that takes us back to. And I. I know we got another question. But that takes us back to what was happening while they were waiting. Right. If they were trying to wait on a closure for Jesus, for them to get over Jesus dying. And if they had to wait on that for literally, like we say, like, just sit and wait. My mind, I got to get myself together. I can't get over this. You know, if they had to do that, they wouldn't have never made it to the point they were at. So waiting doesn't mean sitting still, wallowing in your feelings. It means something is happening while you're waiting. Right. You're occupying that time until it comes. And so the closure, yes, it happens. I agree with you. It may not have been said like that in the scripture, but. Yeah, right. While you're waiting while you're moving, right? You're moving away from whatever you need closure from. You're moving away. As they sat in the upper room, they were moving away from the fact that Jesus had died and he rose again. They were going to. Jesus said, okay, go back and don't leave Jerusalem until it comes, right? So in that moment, and we're going to talk about in just a minute, things were happening while they were waiting.
Dr. Oscar Williams
I think that's what the, the angels were saying to them now. Hey, disclaimer.
Felix Salmon
Why you standing here?
Dr. Oscar Williams
Yeah, disclaimer. So there is. To every situation. I think you alluded to this question could be answered differently because some things closure comes differently. So don't take an answer as a blanket response that, oh, this is what happens. So it's always nuanced to your scenario. But they were looking and we could use that. They were gazing because what is the closure of Jesus going to heaven like? We're just going to stand here and wait and see what's going to happen. And the angels had to come and say, why are you still in this same posture?
Dr. Crump
Right?
Dr. Oscar Williams
Why this posture? Because every waiting period has a different posture. Sometimes you can wait and walk at the same time. Sometimes waiting is being still. You have to know which is the title of what we put tonight. You have to know, what posture do I need to take while I am waiting on power put by screen?
Felix Salmon
I, I think we often fall in love with what works because we're so tired of fighting. So when we find something that works, we stick with it. Listen, I have a. I got, I got a daily routine and this is what I'm going to do. And perhaps this is why Paul on the other side of this says, I press toward the mark of the prize of the high calling, which is in Christ, Christ, Jesus. Whoever asked that question online, my only, my only instruction would be to press toward the mark of the high calling in spite of waiting on full closure. Because two things can be true at one time. We have a question in the room.
Dr. Crump
Yes, real quick. I just want to give honor to our bishop and first lady and to you pastors and also to saints of the most high God. Yes. So I'm not gonna let you work too hard, Dr. Oscar, because you said we were working, but it's some basic things like, okay, we were talking about acts and I didn't hear you guys become more specific on the purpose of the, the cross, why they're still up. And if you're going back to the 50 days after leading up To Pentecost Sunday while they're still up. And also how many people was in the upper room? These things are really basic elementary questions. But we cannot take it for granted as you, you guys, as preachers, that everybody knows these basics. These basics element stuff.
Felix Salmon
The upper room in our next slide. You are in the spirit.
Pastor Dobbins
You're in the spirit.
Felix Salmon
Which is about the first four.
Dr. Oscar Williams
He said it a lot more eloquent than. Than me. Cuz we've been. It's the, the road to resurrection, the road to Pentecost. So we've been walking this road and if you've been here, and I think you've been here a few of the weeks, but if we've been walking this. So you referenced the cross. The cross is up because we are still nailing stuff too. And believe it or not, and we talked about this on the first week, the cross as a symbol was always present in Jerusalem. The cross was there. So we look to the cross not to glorify it, but to be reminded that we've nailed stuff to there that now, that now we've walked away from that we, because of Christ's crucifixion stuff is nailed to the cross that we no longer have to deal with. So this is just a symbol. We have these symbol because somebody may come in here carrying something and we want them to bring it to the cross, take that sickness and nail it to the cross. Because his blood, it still has miraculous power. And though it was 2,000 years ago, it's still running and it's still working. So so nail all of that depression to the cross, keep putting it on the cross and walk away from it. And then we are getting. Because we have about two more weeks. So this week we're talking about them being in the upper room, which if we get time we'll go and then next week we'll talk about what happened while they were in the upper room. Make sense?
Dr. Crump
Yes. And how many people was in the upper room?
Pastor Dobbins
120. About 120.
Dr. Crump
And the, the prominent people that was there besides John and James, because a lot of times, like I said, things, we think those things are elementary, but we have different people in church every day. So what we know, we cannot say it's elementary because someone else may not know the answer. So one of the of the things we're doing. Let me help you out. One of the things we're doing is we're doing walk it out Wednesday for elementary all the way up to doctoral degree. So we're going to take it step by step for the last eight or so weeks to kind of walk through. And we're going to land probably where you're talking about now, where we're going to get in details. And not just those in the room, the women that were in the room, the power behind the room, the purpose of being in the room. So we're going to get into all of that. But it's like what we're doing, we're giving you a good movie that has sequels and it has seasons in it and had episodes in it. And as you follow us along this line with these episodes, I promise you by the time you there at the end of the movie, you going to be there endowed by the Holy Ghost, speaking in a whole nother tongue. So, yeah, have a good posture.
Felix Salmon
Waiting.
Pastor Dobbins
Wait for us.
Felix Salmon
Wait for.
Dr. Crump
Just wait, just wait.
Dr. Oscar Williams
Change your posture. We got another question right here. Thank you, brother.

Felix Salmon
God has been showing me personally in
Dr. Crump
my life some things in this season.
Felix Salmon
And what God is showing me that
Pastor Dobbins
it is not about the season, as the scripture said.
Felix Salmon
And I think many of us are
Pastor Dobbins
deceived because we're so busy looking at the news and what's happening. It's almost like sitting at Goliath's feet and listening to all his threats or listening to Sennacherib when he was at the wall. So David said, who is this uncircumcised philistine?
Felix Salmon
And so what God is showing me
Dr. Crump
in this season that in the God is showing me that between now and
Pastor Dobbins
2030, we need to be about our Father's business and we need to do the things that we're supposed to do.
Dr. Crump
And so God has been blessing me and giving me wisdom and showing me
Pastor Dobbins
what to do, to do that's good. So it's time to invest. It's time to put our business in order. Because as they're trying to change all the rules, we need to do what we need to do so that we own property so we have investment. So when they go to change the rules, we have already done what we need to do. So I believe the critical season is now. And I'm concerned that most people are distracted and they're not noticing. That's good because the. The. This road to Pentecost is trying to. Is not trying to. Hopefully it is revealing these times that we're living in and how we walk it out right now. Thank you for that one reason. I brought up the fact that we are. We are in our Jerusalem, Jerusalem right now, if you will. We're in that place again. How we walk it out is, is this is necessary because we need. We cannot do it alone. Yes, we are being distracted by the news. We're being distracted by what's happening about the laws changing. But this is critical to why we need the Holy Ghost. This is what's going to take us through this season. Whether it's 2030 or 2040, whatever that time or that season is, we need the Holy Ghost to walk us through it. Thank you. And we want to go to our next point because we don't want to run out of Acts 1 yet. This takes us to what we're talking about tonight. And that's the posture of waiting. And the. On the screen, you see the upper room. This is what it looks like today. And if you were to visit it, this is what you see. But this is where Jesus told them to go into the upper room and wait. And we're going to talk about what happens while you're waiting.
Felix Salmon
This is beautiful because tag team with the response and the question. While they're waiting, they said, listen first of all to me. One of the postures of waiting is that you have to look at the process of prophecy. This ties into something my sister said over here regarding tracing the Old Testament. Then now they stand up and begin to articulate that Judas is gone. Judas has hung himself, purchased a field, the field called a seldom, or some say a Keldema. Judas is gone. So now we go from 12 disciples to 11. They want to now replace the 12th disciple by casting lots. This is not a superstitious casting lots. This is a casting in terms of prayer to see who it will fall upon to be chosen out of the top two, whereby Dr. Williams is going to talk about them. But this pulls in voting. Yeah, this pulls in our voting. This is them taking care of business. This prayer is not just speaking in tongues and praying to God. It's also praying and moving and believing. You can conduct business. You can invest, you can buy property, you can marry, you can conduct, you can build, you can assimilate, you can collaborate, you can create Joint Ventures llc, C Corps S corpse joint ventures and so much more while you're praying. So we don't want to dummy down. What the posture of waiting looks like. Like, it looks like everything in this room moving at full capacity.
Dr. Oscar Williams
I don't know if they have the scripture. If you can. Acts 1, 23, 26. If you can put that up. We just want to read it. Perfect. And they proposed. Do you have 22?
Pastor Dobbins
Yes, they do. Okay, go all the way back to 15. They have all of that.
Dr. Oscar Williams
Okay, let's go back to 15. Let's just read.
Felix Salmon
Read.
Dr. Oscar Williams
Come on. Let's go to 15 where we left off.
Pastor Dobbins
Read.
Dr. Oscar Williams
And in those days, Peter stood up in the right, in the midst of the disciples. Altogether, the number of names was about 120.
Felix Salmon
There we go. That's 120.
Dr. Crump
And.
Dr. Oscar Williams
And said, Men and brethren, this scripture had to be fulfilled, which the Holy Spirit spoke before by the mouth of David concerning Judas, who became a guide to those who arrested Jesus. For he was numbered with us and obtained and obtained a part in this mission. We don't even have time to talk about that. He was numbered with us. And the one that deceived, the one that betrayed, was numbered with us and obtained part of this ministry.
Felix Salmon
So everybody that starts with us won't stay.
Dr. Oscar Williams
Well, what. Everybody that starts with us won't stay. But, but also look at the nuance to that that Peter is saying. He was a part of us. The same person that betrayed us, the same person that deceived us was a part of us. Look at that dynamic that sometimes you're walking with people and talking with people and in community with people that one day you got to replace.
Pastor Dobbins
Oh my.
Dr. Oscar Williams
We don't have time. We, we, we, we, we got, we got still because we gotta get him up now. This man purchased as they filled with the wages of iniquity with sin money, my God, with that lottery money that y' all got, my Holy Ghost conviction and falling Headlong he burst open in the middle. All his entrails gushed out. And it became known to all those dwelling Jerusalem that the field is called in their own language, Ak dama. That is the field of blood, for it is written in the book of Psalms. Here we go. We're walking through the sea. Yeah. Let this dwelling place be desolate and let no one live in it. And let another right here, let another take his office. So Paul's right there. So what they're doing again, they're walking through this Old Testament prophecy in Scripture and fulfilling it along the way. So they had to replace Judas, because they're going back to Psalms. It says, let another take his office. Keep going. Therefore, of these men who have accompanied us all the time, that the Lord Jesus went in and out among us, beginning from the baptism of John to that day when he was taken up from us, one of these must become a witness with us of his resurrection. And they proposed two. Two were qualified. Joseph, called Barsabas, who was surnamed Justus and Matthias. And they prayed and said, you, O Lord, who, who know the hearts of all, show which of these two you have chosen to take part in this ministry and apostleship, from which Judas by transgression failed, that he might go to his own place. And they cast their lots, which is an Old Testament ritual, and that you can find in Leviticus. And the lot fell on Matthias, and he was numbered with the eleven apostles. And. And I was. We were talking, and the thing that got me that opposed to us, I just want us to ponder on us that there were several things that happened in this. That they were looking for people who had walked amongst them as disciples. We have the 12, but they're saying there were some people who were in a posture who were positioned amongst us. They didn't have the title of disciple. They didn't have the title of bishop.
Dr. Crump
They didn't.
Dr. Oscar Williams
They wanted to lead Praise Singer, they wanted to lead Usher. They wanted to lead Deacon. They were just in the midst and they saw everything that we saw. And they weren't doing it to get a position, but because they were in the right position now they qualify for promotion. But I don't want to labor there. What got me not the one that was selected, but the one that wasn't.
Pastor Dobbins
Yeah.
Dr. Oscar Williams
Can you imagine being justice, getting to the point of promotion, getting to the place where you say, what's that song? What? Bishop sings it all the time. Paydays coming after a while.
Dr. Crump
That's it.
Dr. Oscar Williams
Paydays coming after a while. You are There. And it's two. And they're praying and they say, God, who do you choose? And God chooses somebody else. How did justice feel? I got a slide. We can look at who they are if you just really briefly put up Matthias just so that you all can see what his name means. The gift chosen. He qualified, witnessed a lot falls. You could take a picture of this one Labor. I just wanted you to see who he was. It has biblical history of casting lots so that you can understand it wasn't just a chance thing that them casting lots meant that this was a sacred ritual that we find in the Old Testament of how they beseech God for direction. Because remember, Holy Spirit had not yet fallen. So they are consulting what they know works because they haven't been filled with the spirit yet. So there's Matthias. And then you can go to the next one real fast. Justice.
Dr. Crump
Yeah.
Dr. Oscar Williams
Joseph justice, the faithful unselected witness. And we may have to come back to this because we. It's so much in here. But I wanted you all take a picture of this study. We may have to get back to it next week. But Tag, Brother Don, you it.
Dr. Crump
Oh, no. I saw a question and what I was getting ready. I was getting ready to preach. What you said that. I was like, okay, I said that because you were talking about how does justice feel because he wasn't chosen. And you and I had this conversation. See, most people will be disappointed because you didn't get chosen. I was happy when I was justice. Just the fact that my name made the list. See, some. See, you can't get happy for that. Some of you want to be chosen. I'm just happy because I'm in the room. All the people I could have chosen, you let me just be in the room. Are you kidding me? The fact that my name made the list. I'm about to shout it here all by myself. Because you know why? Because I know my history. See, most of us. He ain't pick me. No thank you for even putting me on the list. I don't have to call. Don't call my name. The fact that my name is on that list, that's a shout all by itself. Because if you know me like you know me, but my name's still on that list. Okay, see?
Dr. Oscar Williams
And he carried the qualifications. That's what I love about. Because we were talking about this, that they look at the posture of how they walk with Jesus. How many times do we do we come and get engaged in church only to get a position or to get on Platform. What I love about these two, it shows us that you can be serving God. You can be in the right place at the right time. Right time. And you will not be overlooked that the reason why they were selected for promotion is not because they raised their hand. It's not because they said, pick me. Pick me. It is because they were faithful to the Walk.
Dr. Crump
And the thing about this is, Dr. Williams, not only are they faithful to the Walk, I don't care. Because I didn't get chosen. I'm in the room. The same power gonna fall on me.
Dr. Oscar Williams
Because that's what happened. Yes.
Dr. Crump
Keep your title. I get the same power. Y' all run out the title. I'm running out the power.
Felix Salmon
The same power with less responsibility.
Dr. Oscar Williams
But here's the thing. Because what would have been our posture, and if we're honest, how many times have we left because we weren't chosen? Justice could have left, could have walked away. Because it's not that the men didn't choose us. Him it is. God did not choose him. But he stayed in the room. He stayed waiting because he was more committed to the. To the word of God than committed to a title. And because he was committed to the word of God, he received power just like everybody else.
Dr. Crump
He stayed in the church.
Pastor Dobbins
He stayed.
Dr. Oscar Williams
He stayed in the church. Okay, we got a question.
Pastor Dobbins
This is our final question.
Felix Salmon
Good evening to the doctors and to Pastor. You know, when I was sitting there, I asked the Lord, I said, they keep going in and out of this weight. And I. And I. And the Lord, he showed me something. He took me all the way back to Matthews and he said, there was a walk it out Wednesday, 2,000 years ago. It's so important. You have to hold it.
Dr. Crump
Yes.
Felix Salmon
Okay. It's so.
Dr. Oscar Williams
You know, when I'm. When I'm preaching, I'm used to having it in my hand. Preachers do that.
Felix Salmon
Okay, so. So. So when I looked at that, he said, I want you to tell this them real quick. It's so important for us to wait on God. I could go into my own personal testimony that 13 years I've been here at the Potter's house. And the Lord, four of them, the Lord took me out. And I don't know if Dr. Compton kind of noticed, it was a season
Dr. Crump
where I wasn't here.
Felix Salmon
And the Lord said, but I want you to go somewhere. He said, go there with Matthew 3 and 11. He said, John said, there was. There was one whose shoes I'm not even worthy to unlatch. He shall baptize thee with the Holy Ghost and with fire. And then Mark, he. He got just easy with. He said in Mark 1 and 8, he said, he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost and with fire. But when it got to Luke, Luke said, I want you to tarry here. And it don't mean tarry the way people, you know, I'm not going there. It means to remain in one place. It just remains to remain. That's why he told them to go back to Jerusalem. And then when he told them that, then after Luke, Dr. Luke, the physician then went to John, John said it like this.
Dr. Oscar Williams
He said, I'm running through this because
Felix Salmon
y' all's tired, you know?
Dr. Oscar Williams
He said, is it question I. I want.
Felix Salmon
I want to make. Is that okay? If I make this point?
Dr. Oscar Williams
Okay.
Felix Salmon
It's so important to wait. It goes from Matthew, Mark, Luke and John. When after that is something that happened in John 20. He breathed on them.
Dr. Oscar Williams
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Felix Salmon
And it's so important for you to wait on God.
Dr. Oscar Williams
Yeah.
Felix Salmon
Because if you mess up in the waiting, you'll miss out because you didn't wait.
Pastor Dobbins
That's good.
Felix Salmon
You'll mess up because you didn't wait on God. I couldn't just my own personal testimony real quick. I couldn't understand for anything in the world why God would take me out of my church. And I got here when came from all the way from California and put me on another planet that I didn't know anything about just to take me back out, to put me back in. It's so important to wait.
Pastor Dobbins
It's so important to wait.
Felix Salmon
It's so important to wait on God.
Pastor Dobbins
Amen. Thank you.
Felix Salmon
And we need the Holy Ghost. I like.
Pastor Dobbins
I'd like to say this, Pastor Donna, you can have it after that. That what has been so great tonight that we've had some phenomenal questions and responses that means something happening on the inside of you. You. And we are so appreciative of that. Keep studying, keep asking questions. Keep bringing them to the front because it helps us to know that what we're doing here is helping you bless the Lord. Come on, put your hands together for that. We are so. And no. Next week we're going to continue this. But while you're waiting for next week, Occupy until next week.
Dr. Crump
There is. There was a statement that she made. If you mess up, you might miss out. I heard that in the Holy Ghost. If you mess up, you might miss out. And. And. And I'm thinking that there are some people in here you've messed up and you think you've missed out. But the great part about it is this. You're. You're in the room. You're in the room. You've been a part of this journey that we're on as we talk about this road to Pentecost and whether your mistakes, your flaws, your errors, things you've done. I want to take a moment, everyone standing. I want to take a moment to not miss out on what I believe God is saying even through this. We were talking about being filled with the Holy Ghost and the power, and there was a lot of excitement in the room. And I would be ignorant if I thought that everyone in here had the Holy Ghost, that you know how to operate in that power. Or you say, pastor, I hate this power y' all talking about, but I don't know how to execute it. I don't know how to use it. And if you're in this room today and you feel the need to be prayed for, the Holy Ghost isn't the jerking. It isn't the that. No, sometimes that's not evidence of the Holy Ghost. Sometimes that's evidence of an act. I'm just. I'm gonna be real with you. The evidence of the Holy Ghost is talking about love, joy, peace, love, long suffering. Yeah. Yeah. That's evidence of. That's evidence of the Holy Ghost. Because, see, the. Sometimes the Holy Ghost don't tell you to shout. Sometimes the Holy Ghost tell you to be quiet. And he says, and you shall receive power. Power, the ability to do something that you would normally do beyond your human capacity. And if there's one that's in here today, there's one that's here online. You say, listen, Pastor, I want this power. I'm hungry for this power. I've done some things wrong in my life, and I don't think I'm worthy of the Holy Ghost. Let me tell you something. Everybody in here. Can I be ebonic? Everybody in here, all of us, have made some mistakes, some flaws, bumped our head, done some crazy things, and missed. And don't think the Holy Ghost lives on the inside of us. But I am a believer that God is the God of another chance. And if you're in this room and you're not saved, don't know Christ is your personal savior. Or you're saying, pastor, listen, I want this Holy Ghost. I want it. I want it. I want you to come to this altar. Not because someone's going to lay hand on you. You're going to get it. I want you to come down to this altar, as you're telling God, this is. I'm. I'm hungry for you. I want this Holy Ghost. I want this level of Holy Ghost they're talking about.
Dr. Oscar Williams
This is a posture.
Dr. Crump
This is a posture of saying, God, I. I want this. No man has to lay hands on you to receive it. It is a great thing. But if you're saying, God, I want. I want this type of power, and the problem with some of us is we can't live peacefully because we don't have the power. And you, you would rather let the devil fight you in your head than to humbly step out and say, God, I want this level of power. If I'm talking to you, I want you to come meet me at this altar. I see you coming, and it. Listen, this is beyond your salvation. The same power that got Jesus up from the grave is the same power that cannot live on the inside of you. Why? I see you running down here. I see you running. I see you running. Why? Why sit here gazing? Why stay in that same place? Why? Why lose a battle and the devil convince you and make you think you're winning? At the end of the day, it's the Holy Ghost. It is the power that dwells on the inside of us. The Holy Ghost is looking for a place to reside on the inside of you. You've been living beneath your promises. You think what you're doing now is well enough. God says there's more for you. There's more for you. But I can't give it to you because you don't have that indwelling of the Holy Ghost. Because the Holy Ghost will tell you how to navigate, how to move, how to make business. See, Dobbins, you can agree with this one. The Holy Ghost will give you and show you how to make business decisions, who to partner with, who the joint venture should be with, who the LLC should be with, who the LLP should be with. Should I take this deal versus this deal? The Holy Ghost said, nope, not that person. Go to the next one. Pastor, I made some bad decisions. Well, guess what? I know a Paraclete. I know somebody will step in the gap for you and for those who ran down to this altar. I am believing. I am believing this is the start of the greatest season of your life, that they're indwelling of the Holy Ghost. So, Father, I want to pray. You know what? Before I pray, I'm going to do one more. I'm gonna do one more request. I hear you, Holy Ghost. Get down here to this altar because there's power in the name of Jesus. I see you coming. I see you coming. I see you coming. This isn't about me. This isn't about me. This isn't about me. You get one more chance. You get. There is power in the name of Jesus. There's power. There's power. This is Holy Ghost power. This is the quickening power. This is the power that teaches devils how to back up off of you. You want demons to back up off you. Short with the right warfare, short with the right weapon. Show up carrying something he could identify because he's not scared of you. He's scared of what's on the inside of you. There is power in the name of Jesus. And you can't just use his name if you don't have the authority to use his name. Father, we thank you for this day. God, we thank you for every soul that is hungry for indwelling of the Holy Ghost. Now, God, today we pray that you grant their request for Father, we pray for every person that's on the move even making their way this way. God, we thank you that you come against everything that the enemy had made. Try to distract them with that. Tried to empty their mind with God to make them think they cannot and they are not worthy of this decision. But I declare that no weapon formed against them shall prosper. I declare that they are worthy. They are worthy vessels to be filled with the Holy Ghost. I declare that in the day of Pentecost cross that they shall be filled with the Holy Ghost. That there she be. They shall be witnesses. I am declaring witnesses. All in this room, all over this world. Witnesses being manifested. Witnesses. Witnesses. Witnesses. Witnesses. Witnesses. You shall be a witness. Not only of miracles, but witnesses in your family. Witnesses in your generation. Witnesses over your children. Witnesses in everything that you walk and declare. I believe that this is a test varying season where you sit there and wait and watch what God is doing in your life. I am believing that everything that the devil tried to tell you that you could not make it, he is a liar. God, forgive us of our sins. Fill us with the Holy Ghost. Fill us with your Holy Ghost. Fill us with your Holy Ghost. Break every chain. Break every chain. The chain of divorce. Break it. The chain of divorce. Break it. The train of depression. Break it. The chain of depression. Break it. The chain of generational curse. Break it. Is broken today. Do it God. Do it God. Do it God. Do it God. Do it God. Do it in him. God. Do it in the man of God. Do it in the man of God. Thank you, Jesus. Thank you, Jesus. Thank you, Jesus. Thank you, Jesus. That's it. Like Grandmama say. That's it, baby. Call him again. Call him. Call. Call him again. Call him again. Call him again. Tell him thank you again. Watch the Holy Ghost in. Call him again. What?
Pastor Dobbins

Dr. Crump

Again, There's a yes. There's a yes that God is looking for. There is a yes that God is looking for. There's a yes that God is looking for. He don't want a yes out of your mouth. He want a yes out of your heart. Because you could say yes with your mouth and not mean it in your heart. He says there's a yes that I'm looking for. I'm looking for a yes. I'm searching for a yes. I'm going to and fro looking for a yes. Is there a yes, yes, yes in the comment? Put yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes to your will and yes to your way. We're leading up to the day of Pentecost and as we lead up to the day of Pentecost, as we go on this journey, the Bible says, I would not have you ignorant of the devices of the enemy, that he will come try to deceive you, trick you, distract you. Because watch this for most of us in here, he know he can't bother your salvation. He know you believe him. He know you believes in God. But if he can get you distracted from your destiny, oh what if you what if what you're going through is not even about you? What if your destiny is to reach another generation of women, of children, of married people, of single people. And the enemy knows if he can distract you now, he'll keep you from being and getting people delivered later. So God is looking for your yes now. Now. Yeah. Yes. Yes, yes, yes. Call me a little antiquated right here, but I believe in altar call. I believe in praying for people. I believe in the souls that are on this altar. It's not too late. I see you moving this way. Episode: The Road to Pentecost: Acts 1 – Pastoral Panel (May 14, 2026)
This episode, “The Road to Pentecost,” brings together a dynamic pastoral panel—Pastor Dobbins, Dr. Crump, Dr. Oscar Williams, and Felix Salmon—for an in-depth, interactive study of Acts 1. The discussion centers on the transition from the post-resurrection appearances of Jesus to the days leading up to Pentecost, the importance of the Holy Spirit, and the necessity of waiting for God’s timing and empowerment. The pastors encourage the congregation to embrace biblical history, context, and practical application as they prepare their hearts and lives for Pentecost and spiritual empowerment.

This episode challenges listeners to reconsider what it means to wait, to seek evidence and understanding without shame, and to live “in the room” where spiritual empowerment happens. Through a mixture of practical teaching, scriptural exposition, and passionate exhortation, the panel calls the church to embrace both the process and promise of Pentecost, to be filled with the Holy Ghost, and to walk out their faith in “the season” God has allowed. The resounding message: You may not know the time or season, but you can always pursue power, purpose, and relationship with God—right where you are.
