Pastor J
I text Pastor Torre and I said, man, I think you tapped into something
Pastor Cora
talking about the soul.
Pastor J
If you were here Sunday, if you were here Sunday, you just might as well give God praise now. If you miss Sunday, just go ahead and repent. It's okay. You can watch YouTube. Just repent right now. Sunday was absolutely amazing.
Pastor Cora
The title was called as your soul prospers.
Pastor J
And how many of you know that
Pastor Cora
your soul has to be unpacked in more than a Sunday service? So this is what we're going to do. We need you to throw in questions online. We need you to get ready for your courage to rise up to the top of your lungs, because we're gonna do questions in the audience as well.
Pastor J
I've got a super all star team who is getting ready to break down
Pastor Cora
the soul, the body, the spirit.
Pastor J
Listen, y', all, we gonna throw so much at you. You gonna go home like, oh, my God. But you'll be ready for the quiz called life. Can we give God glory for pastor Don Johnson? Come on. Can we give God glory, honor and praise for Dr. Oscar Williams? Can we give God glory, honor, and praise for the spiritual effervescent glow of Dr. Val? Come on, come on, come on. And Pastor Corey is in the audience praying and cheering us on. She gonna be with us flowing smooth. She's got a mic as well. Let me come down.
Pastor Cora
Let's rock and roll, y'.
Dr. Oscar
All.
Pastor Cora
Wherever you would like to sit, listen. Yo, Dr. Oscar, first of all.
Pastor Don
Oh, you okay? You all right?
Pastor Cora
Yeah, yeah. It's the devil. Tried to get me, didn't he?
Pastor Kermit
Didn't he?
Pastor Don
But you got away.
Pastor Kermit
We like to laugh, y', all, but
Pastor J
I didn't let go.
Pastor Kermit
It's a good time tonight.
Pastor Cora
What do you think about Sunday's word?
Pastor Kermit
I think Sunday's word was very Right now, as we deal with so many different things, there are so many terms that we throw out. So many times we talk about soul and spirit and what God is doing in our soul and how God is speaking to our spirit and all of that. And just to understand that as our soul prospers and really diving into that, as I listened to it multiple times, just understanding how God is concerned about my soul. God is very intentional about the health of my soul as well as my physical body that what my soul produces. God is concerned and intentional about making sure that I'm not contaminated. That my soul is not dis eased. That my soul stays in a perpetual state of comfort and connection to the father.
Pastor Cora
Oh, here's what I like. First off, Pastor Toure Roberts took off apostle, pastor prophet, and he said, I come as a journey mate. Oh, God. I think that's what, I think that's what hit us in the chest. I think that's what really got us. Pastor Dunn, as we are journey mates, this lets me know that nobody has mastered the soul process.
Pastor Don
I think that's, that's the great thing about that evolution is that we're always evolving. As soon as we think we've mastered something, God will say, no, no, no, no. I believe as soon as we think we master something, God creates a void just so he can teach us something else.
Pastor Kermit
Can we, can we look at the soul? Can we? Because we do a lot of times we, we use terms and things that we say and we talk about the soul. We got to, we have a graphic up. So just to break down. So when we're talking about the soul and the difference between the spirit, there's a scripture, I think it was referenced on Sunday from Hebrews, how the word of God is sharper than any two edged sword piercing asunder between the bone and the marrow, the soul and the spirit. And so when you look at soul, we look at soul as the living self, personhood, desire, conscious, inner life. In the Hebrew, in the Old Testament, it comes from this word nephesh. Nephesh being life, person, your living being. In Genesis when God created Adam, the Bible says he breathed into him the breath of life and man became a living nephesh, a living soul. And in the Greek, the same word soul is same meaning soul, inner life, self, person. When we talk about, when there's a passage in the New Testament where Jesus is sorrowful to his soul, his su, his emotions, his will. And now when you delineate that from the spirit, the spirit in Hebrew in, in the Old Testament is ruach. It is the breath, the wind of God. So in that same passage, God breathed into Adam the ruach, his breath. And then Adam became a living Nephesh. So God gave Adam his spirit and, and out of God's spirit, Adam becomes soul. Makes sense. And then in the New Testament, in the Greek, it's the word pneuma, spirit, breath, wind. So there's another slide. If you go to that third slide, this kind of breaks it down even better. So yes, so we have, and we've heard this before. This is just quick reminder that we are triune beings. We are spirit with a soul living in a body. Triune beings made after the image and the likeness of God. So we are spirit with a soul living in a body. What is the body? The body is the outward, tangible dimensions of your human life. The body is your physical senses, your mortality. The things that you can see, touch, taste and feel, these are your senses. And out of your senses, then your soul, the personal self, your inward self. Your soul is your mind, your intellect, your desires, your emotions. So your body or your senses sends signals to your soul. What does that mean? So you see something and then what you see now sends a signal to your emotions, your will and intellect. And you're trying to decipher it. And then your spirit is the God related dimension. It is the thing that connects you to God. It's your common union, your communion with the Father. So oftentimes you will hear preachers say, don't trust your emotions because your emotions are tied to your senses and they change, they switch up on you. Part of the problem is sometimes when we try to understand God through our emotions, through our intellect, we try to make God make sense to us logically. And when God is not talking to your soul, he's communing with your spirit because that's the breath in him, that's the part of him that's connecting you to heaven. So we have that. So scripture sometimes distinguishes body, soul and spirit. Yet biblical authors also use these terms sometimes they are flexible. The body names, I love this embodied existence. Soul names, personal life, spirit names, the breath, like inward life oriented toward God.
Pastor Cora
I think that's phenomenal. And what, what Dr. Oscar did is he just extrapolated the terms that we typically use is that your soul is your mind, your will and your emotions. Dr. Val.
Dr. Oscar
So when at some point is the word, the word of God always supports what it is we talk about. So the soul is so supported in scripture from Genesis to Revelation. You see these scriptures about the soul and I want them to put those scriptures. There's too many for me to name, but there are some that I wanted. Dr. Oster just talked about Genesis 2 and 7. But I want to, I want to show you some of those parts of the soul in scripture so that you, when you go home, you can take these scriptures and study them in your own leisure. So he just talked about a man becomes a living nephesh, a living soul, which is a being because God has breathed into you the life. First Chronicles 22:19 says now six, set your heart and your soul and you can take pictures of these or write them down so in your leisure you can study them. Set your heart and your soul to seek, to inquire of, require as your vital necessity the Lord your God, and then arise and build the sanctuary. What that means is, first of all, set your whole being to seek God. Your whole being, soul. Right here is whole being to seek God. Make it necessary, make it a necessity to seek God, and then go and do whatever it is he's called you to do. Acts 2:41. We are so familiar with this one. So then those who accepted his message were baptized. That was Peter's message. And on that day about 3,000 souls were added to the body of believers. That day it was approximately 120,000 thousand people in the gathering. So 3,000 of them were added to the body of believers. Study it in your own time. First Peter 1 and 9. This is the end of your faith, the salvation of your soul. I think that is phenomenal. The end of your faith is the salvation of your soul. All right. James 1:21. It says, so get rid of all uncleanness and all that remains of wickedness, and with a humble spirit receive. Here we go. The word of God which is implanted or grafted, actually rooted in your heart, which is able to save your soul. Now the Psalms are next. My next one is the Psalms. Everywhere in Scripture, if there's. Let me back out. Everything about the soul is in the book of Psalms. So when you read the book of Psalms, it has more reference to the soul than any other book of Scripture. That's what I'm trying to say. And so I only chose a few because I couldn't get them all in tonight. But Psalms 49, 5, 8 says, why should I fear in the days of evil when the wickedness of.
Dr. Val
And when your soul is overwhelmed in you?
Dr. Oscar
These are the Scriptures you go to.
Dr. Val
These are the scriptures that can help heal your soul. Right? When the wickedness of those who would
Dr. Oscar
betray me surrounds me on every side.
Dr. Val
Even those who trust in and rely
Dr. Oscar
on their wealth and boast of their abundant riches, none of them by any means can redeem his brother or his sister, not give to God a ransom for him.
Dr. Val
For the ransom of the soul is too costly,
Dr. Oscar
and he should cease trying forever. That's a good one. Go read that later.
Dr. Val
Psalm 62, 1, 2, 5 and 6
Dr. Oscar
says, Truly my soul waiteth upon God,
Dr. Val
because from him comes my salvation. He only is my rock and my salvation. He is my defense.
Dr. Oscar
I shall not be greatly moved.
Dr. Val
My soul, soul waits on God, for
Dr. Oscar
my expectation is from him.
Dr. Val
He only is my rock and my salvation he is my defense, and I shall not be moved. Psalms 42 this is the stuff you do when your soul is overwhelmed, right? You go read the word, because the word what saves your soul? As the heart panted after the water brook, so panteth my soul after thee, O God. My soul thirsts for God, for the living God. When shall I come and appear before God? My tears have been my meat day and night, while they continually say unto me, where is thy God? When I remember these things, I pour out my soul in me For I had gone with the multitude, I went to church, I went to them to the house of God with the voice of we praised the Lord, we lifted him up, and it was on the holy day, on the Sabbath day. Why is my soul cast down if I just left church? And why are you disquieted in me hoping God for I shall yet praise him for the help of his countenance. Deep calleth unto deep at the noise of thy water spouts all thy waves and thy billows are gone over me. Yet the Lord will command his loving kindness in the daytime, and in the night his song shall be with me, and my prayer unto God of my life. So why my soul cast down, and why is it disquieted? Hope in God, for I shall yet praise him, who is the health of my countenance and my God. Psalms 100 c. C. Here's the thing. We quote all of these things, but we need to take them to heart. Psalms 103 Bless the Lord, O my soul and all that is within me blessed his holy name, Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits, who forgiveth all my iniquities, who heals all my diseases, who redeemeth my life from destruction, who crowneth thee with loving kindness and tender mercy, who satisfies my mouth with good things, so that the youth is renewed like the eagle. Bless the Lord, oh my soul, oh God. And here's my last one.
Pastor J
I think this is it.
Dr. Val
Psalms 1:16 I love the Lord because he heard me, my voice and my supplication because he has inclined his ear to me. Therefore I will call upon him as long as I live. The pain of death surrounded me, and the pangs of Sheol laid hold on me. I found trouble, and so sorrow. Then I called on the name of the Lord, and I said, lord, deliver my soul. Gracious is the lord, and righteous, don't that pump you up to Know that the soul is being taken care of. Yes, our God is merciful. The Lord preserves the simple. I was brought low and he saved me.
Pastor J
You better read the text, soul.
Dr. Val
Return your rest, O my soul. For the Lord has dealt bountifully with you, soul, for you have been delivered. Or God has delivered. My soul from death, my ears from tears, and my feet from falling. I will walk before the Lord in the land of the living. I believe, therefore I spoke. I am greatly afflicted. I said in my haste. All men are liars. But what shall I render to the Lord for all his benefits toward me? I will take of the cup of salvation and I will call on the name. That's what you do when your soul needs fixing.
Pastor J
Jesus. Am I the only one whose soul needs to be fixed?
Pastor Cora
I wish.
Pastor J
I'll leave.
Pastor Kermit
That's how you feed your soul.
Dr. Val
That's how you feed.
Pastor Kermit
That's how you feed your soul. That was food for the soul. The Word is food for the soul.
Jennifer
Yeah,
Pastor Cora
I think. Pastor Don, jump in there, because I feel you.
Pastor Don
No, it. I think I really want us to understand. I'm trying not to get ahead of where we're going.
Pastor Cora
Flow, baby.
Pastor Don
But when? And we don't have to get the clip now, but when? That Psalms that you were talking about in Psalms 1, when he said you should be like a tree planted by the rivers. The river. She just gave us rivers. She literally just gave us streams for our soul. And again, I don't want to get ahead of it, but I need us to understand that the word of God is just not something that's printed on a piece of paper.
Pastor Kermit
It is life.
Pastor Don
It is what breathes into us. It is what shapes us, mold us, evolves us. When. When you were reading, it wasn't the fact that you were reading, it was what. What was behind you while you were reading. Because anybody can read.
Dr. Oscar
Anybody can.
Pastor Don
Anybody can be read. But when there's an anointing behind the read, and the anointing is the brokenness. When there's a brokenness behind what I'm reading, when I know he's the God with all his benefits, I'm not ashamed to say I'm afraid of what I may go through. But God says, I got you covered and I need somebody to talk to my soul, he said, go to Psalms. As the deer panted out of the waters brook, so does my soul. Soul panted out of the old God. And if you understand how a deer panted out of the water brook, and the purpose the deer runs for the water it is not just to get fed. Sometimes the deer runs after the water because the enemy's chasing him.
Dr. Oscar
Yeah, exactly.
Pastor Don
And he knows if I can make it to the water, it'll get rid of the scent.
Dr. Oscar
Yeah.
Pastor Kermit
So the enemy cannot chase anymore. So if I can get into the
Pastor Don
word of God and dip in the water a little bit, the enemy that used to chase to me, I don't have to worry about him coming after me anymore. Because as the deer panthers, my soul knows if I can make it to the spirit of God. Okay, okay, okay. I'm sorry. I'm. That's the reason why.
Dr. Oscar
Please forgive me for yelling and like that deer. We've been through something.
Speaker M
Yes.
Dr. Oscar
We have run from a whole lot of enemies.
Dr. Val
We have been on the run. Do you hear me? We run. And when we get patent means you out of breath.
Pastor Don
Yeah. Yeah.
Dr. Val
You've been running so much till you're out of breath, you're tired, and you get to the water, and that's when God takes all the sin off of you. Takes the sin off of your sickness, takes the sin off of your trouble. Takes the sin off your afflictions. It's at that time at the water when you tired, when you have been there too long. I'm tired. I can't do this no more.
Dr. Oscar
Oh, God.
Pastor Don
Dr. Crumpton. The water doesn't care where you've been. The water said, just make it to me. I don't care what you did with the smell itself, just make it to me. I don't care what you smoked last night, who you slept with, just make it to me. Get on your hind legs with your tired self and just make it. Just get to the water.
Dr. Val
Get to the water.
Pastor Cora
I said I wasn't gonna say nothing. I said I was gonna keep it myself. But the text says, he leads me beside the still waters. This means that God stopped the water from flowing so I could get to it.
Pastor Don
Oh, my.
Pastor Cora
If the water is still, this means that it would not be rushing waters. You must understand that deer are 40 to 60 pounds. They go up and down the mountain. They get tired of going up and down. But he's the sheep is what the shepherd leads beside the still water. And the sheep has this African American nappy type go there.
Pastor J
And because this wool, if the wool
Pastor Cora
got wet, it will be weighted down and it would drown. It would drown the sheep.
Pastor J
So he says. He leaves me beside the still water so I can take a drink without drowning. I don't know who I'm talking to, but you're drinking without drowning. I don't know what you try to drown you, but the Lord says, this is your season to drink. Drink on me. Drink like she's drinking. This word, drinking, worship drinking. I'm trying to stay.
Pastor Kermit
You know what's so in that passage? If we could just stay in that scripture alone. Because the other side of the dear panting is the thirst for the water. It is.
Pastor Don
It is.
Pastor Kermit
If you've ever been in a thirsty place, if you've ever done anything and it's left you parched, and you said, all I need is a drink and you could try everything else. And this is what I love about the water of the Word. Because water sometimes is the only thing that can quench the thirst. You can try other beverages, you can get other liquids, but you say it still didn't do it because I need water. And that's what is so important about that scripture right there, there is that the deer needs special water. It is like the woman who came to the well. She had been coming over and over and over again. But Jesus says, I'm going to give you water that you will never thirst again. That is the water of the Word. Where I don't have to. I don't. I'm not getting the Word and I'm going to empty out. When I start to fill myself up with the Word of God, I no longer thirst, but it becomes my thirst. It becomes the thing that I'm hungry for. Not social media, not looking at Facebook, but I become hungry for the Word. So when I wake up in the morning, I'm thirsty for the Word. When I go to sleep at night, I'm thirsty for the Word. I'm like the deer. I can't get enough of the water of the Word because I'm being cleansed daily. I'm being washed daily, and those old things are being washed off of me. As I consume a different diet now, my taste buds and my palate changes. See, this is the power of the Word, even on top of what Pastor Don said. Because what happens a lot of times the enemy will fight us from reading the Word. Oh, you fall asleep, or you don't know where to start, or all of this because the enemy understands. If you start changing your diet and you start reading the Word and develop a hunger for the Word, you may not know all that you're reading, reading. You may not comprehend it, but that's where the Holy Spirit comes in because he's the revealer of truth. You don't have to understand it. You don't have to go to school to understand it. You keep reading and all of a sudden the Holy Spirit will take those scales off your eyes and you'll say, wait a minute, God, what are you saying to me? Because you developed a he that hunger and thirst after righteousness shall be. You got to develop a hunger. You're not going to get it just because you want it. You got to develop a hunger. You got to show God. God, I want this thing. So I'm going to come on a Wednesday night cuz I want to feel your word. God. I'm going to come on a Sunday cuz I want to eat your word. God. I'm going to turn down my plate. Not because I have to, but I'm hungry for your word.
Pastor Don
It.
Pastor Cora
This is why you got to stay away from dry people.
Pastor Don
Come on, say that, sir.
Pastor Cora
Because you. You came out of church with your wet self and they drained all the water of God's word off of you. Be careful that you surround yourself by the rivers and the lakes of safety. We're gonna get into that a little later.
Dr. Oscar
So. So. So. Yeah. So. So when PT Was talking Sunday about being a journey carrier. Is that the term, Journey mate? That we are journey mates. The book came to me, one of my favorite books of all times, if you'll put it up on the screen. It's called they Smell like sheep by Dr. Lynn Anderson. This is volume one that I've been looking at. And it came to me. This is how you know that when we preach or teach, we've been where you are, we've been in the same places. And we're not. You're not just going alone. We are journey mates. He says in his book Trust. The essence of spiritual leadership is this trust and allegiance can be gained only one way, by a shepherd that touches his sheep, carries them, handles them, tends them, feeds them to the extent that he starts smelling like them. And that's what we have here because we preach what we've been through. We're not. And one great thing about this is that I think we're so hyped tonight because we've been studying this. And when you study God's word, it does something to your soul and to your spirit and you can't get it all out. But because we've been filled with the study of his word, tonight we bring to you what we have, as much as we can in the time we got allotted. So the thing is, we are all journey mates. We are all taking this journey together, all of us.
Pastor Cora
I sense Pastor Don was going to jump in. I just want to say one thing. The reason why you're experiencing an overflow is because there has been a flow. Yeah, you can't get overflow without flow.
Pastor J
This.
Pastor Cora
This. This bottle is filled, but there's space at the top. If I put more water in it, it's going to bubble over. When we connect as pastors, the text says, know those that labor among you. This is why you should know the person sitting next to you. This is why you should know the handle of the person on YouTube. Y' all should dialogue every now and then because you are journey mates. And here's the key. Some. It arose probably 20, 30 years ago, whereby you started seeing that we paid attention to the PH level of water that we were buying. It stands for pure hydration. In other words, there are things that will hydrate you, but it is not pure hydration. Be careful that you don't surround yourself with people who don't have pure motives, pure praise, pure worship, pure reasons for coming to church. Pure power, pure Holy Ghost.
Pastor J
I'm just talking about the purity because
Pastor Cora
when you read God's word, it purifies you. Psalms, the. The book of Psalms is what I first started memorizing. Not even trying to, but I had to go to it so much because I was in so much trouble. If you are in trouble, Dr. Val just gave you a great prescription. Read a psalm, also a proverb, but read a psalm every day. Pastor Dunn, were you gonna say something? And then we're gonna.
Pastor Don
We don't. We can go ahead and jump into it because I think it's critical what you're saying, that if. When a doctor prescribes you a medicine, they are clear to say, don't take it till you feel better. Take all of it.
Chinaza
Yeah.
Pastor Don
And sometimes we just take the word of God, too. We feel better and we don't take all of it.
Dr. Oscar
That's good.
Pastor Cora
Are you saying we've been spiritually. Okay, okay. Malnourished. I'm thinking about nutrition.
Pastor Kermit
It's all work.
Pastor J
Bless. Pray for me.
Pastor Kermit
But before we move on, I just want to again invite even our online and even our in person audience. We started something that has been really, really, really, I think, working. And it's the interaction, it's the engagement of not waiting to a specific moment of the service to ask questions. But when that thing pops into your spirit, it pops into your mind, whether you're online or in person. We're inviting you to engage right now. We got Pastor Cora, who has a mic. She will be going between each aisle to help. But. But that's what is making this Walk It Out Wednesday even more. More effective, because we don't want to just walk it out. It's kind of like what Dr. Crumpton said. We are making this journey together.
Pastor Don
Yes.
Pastor Kermit
And so let's really journey together. Don't you let the enemy keep you in your seat from asking that question. You get up because this is where revelation can happen.
Pastor Cora
And as we prepare to go to the clip, I need you to listen in deeply because there's getting ready to be something that says in the clip that kind of grips you. We're going to tie it in. TV team, let's take a look at this clue.
Speaker M
Everybody in here right now is showing up how you are showing up because of the impressions on your soul. Your soul is delicate and sensitive.
Pastor Cora
Oh, God, I feel it right there.
Dr. Oscar
Delicate.
Speaker M
I know you think you're tough, and you are tough. I'm a little tough, too. But the reality of it is your soul, it is resilient, but it is delicate. This is one of the reasons, I believe, why Jesus would not let anybody do nothing real crazy in his presence to children. Track with me. Children souls precious. And we all know that children are impressionable. But did we know that they're impressionable because their souls are impressionable? And when the disciples or anybody was cutting up as it relates to children, Jesus said, you better not do that.
Pastor J
Let him alone.
Speaker M
And then watch this. And he would get passionate about it. He said, it will be better,
Pastor J
you
Speaker M
know the Bible, that a millstone will be tied around your neck and you throw and you offend one of these little ones. He was aware of the preciousness and the delicate nature of the soul. And he also says, except you are converted and become like one of these children, you're gonna have a little challenge in kingdom things.
Pastor Cora
Who can we give God glory for that? As we carefully peruse the entire sermon, this really began to jump out because Pastor Toure says that the soul is resilient, but yet is very delicate. It's impressionable. And some. I'm going to talk, but I have more questions than answers. He breaks it down and he ties it to the text and says, this is why Jesus says, unless you become like one of these little children, you can't enter into the kingdom of heaven. He also protects the children. Suffer the little kids. Let them come unto me. There are movies and videos where you can see Jesus actually playing with children. And the Holy Ghost started talking to me because your soul once Again is your mind, your will and your emotions. Everything you're fighting right now is a derivative of something you fought when you were a child. So we smell good, we look good, but the little boy is crying out. The little girl is still hurting. Your soul has trouble accepting who God has raised you up to be because there's a little bitty girl that you have not gone back and spoke to about the physical abuse, the sexual abuse. A little boy that was ignored. And maybe there was physical abuse and sexual abuse. A little boy or a little girl that didn't have such, didn't know that their voice was heard. A little boy, a little girl who might have grown up in domestic violence. I know these might seem to be rough, but I'm telling you, it's in the room and it's also online and part of it's on the stage. I'm trying to articulate to you that we cannot talk about the spirit soul by, by. Not with, without. Without talking about the origination. Your mind and your will and your emotions were developed. Give me just a moment. Typically, girls mature, not so much the full maturity, but the formidable years are 0 to 7 or 8 by the time of a little girl is 7, 8, 9 tops. Everything about her 75 to 90% is set. The way you think about life, the way you process what you think about yourself, your self esteem and everything else. Now it can change and develop through teenage years, but a lot of that is set for boys. It is 9, 10, and sometimes 11 years old. So my question becomes, what was your mind, your will and your emotions as a child? Is that little child showing up when you're at church? Or does a little child show up when you leave church and try to get you to doubt what you heard in church? Or does that little boy, a little girl, scream out when you're reading what, what God says about you? You're the apple of my eye. You're more than conqueror. Through Christ Jesus you can do anything. God, who has begun a good work in you, shall not. He's going to perform it until the day of Jesus Christ. So my question becomes, do we have anybody honest enough to say my soul was so delicate, it was impressionable? What in the world do I do with all the things that I have seen, experienced, heard? What do I do with that? I've started enough trouble. Go ahead.
Pastor Don
No, I don't. I don't think you started trouble. I think you kind of went to the question that someone actually asked. How do I make room for God to heal my soul? Like that was. That was the perfect segue to that question.
Pastor Cora
I had no idea. There it is. How do I make room? See, making room is allowing God to go back and touch the little boy and the little girl so that the little boy can actually grow up and see spiritually mature. You're 6ft tall, but sometimes you are 3ft tall as it relates to your emotions, as it relates to your. The sum total of who you are. We can grow up naturally, but we have to make room for us spiritually. You make room by saying, perhaps what I learned was not right. Perhaps what shaped me could evolve. See, there's a book. They may put it up later. It is called Soul Leadership. Soul leadership. Give me 30 seconds, I'm done. It's called Soul Leadership. This is by Dr. Steve Robinson, who was a pastor, and he was preaching and teaching, and all of a sudden he just almost collapsed on stage. He couldn't take it anymore. He was overwhelmed by stress and greed. So he began to study what was happening to him after he went through therapy and everything else. He says the mind has to be renewed, but the brain has to be rewired. The way you rewire your brain is what Pastor Ture gave us at the end of the sermon, through worship. Worship then bathes out all the trauma that you've gone through. He talks about three things. Traumas, triggers, and terrible habits. If you have not dealt with the trauma of your soul that is housed in the Lord limbic system of your brain, the trauma will create more triggers and then will develop terrible habits. So my question is, can we all be honest and talk about the terrible habits?
Pastor Don
We have a question.
Pastor Kermit
So, and just on top of that, on the another side of that, just for that healing of the soul. Because if in the instance, maybe it did not happen in the childhood, maybe the soul got injured in an experience in your adulthood. I love the question, how do I make room for God to heal my soul? I think it starts with, first of all, like we did in the beginning, understanding what is my soul. And when I understand that the soul is those parts of me, my emotions, my will, my intellect, then I'm asking God, as he said, to rewire, rework, to create in me a clean heart, to give me the mind of Christ to. The healing process is not here. Healing as if it was a disease. The healing process is actually being washed. It is almost a reprogramming of what my emotions or where my emotions take information from. So, for example, many times we'll look at stuff and use our senses to Take in information and we'll judge things. And the Bible says we don't walk by sight, we walk by faith. So the healing of my soul happens when I then turn to God for my information. I go to the doctor and the doctor says, well, this is the report, I don't have to ignore it. But instead of taking that information in here, then I ask God, okay, God, speak to my soul. Remind me in your Word what it says so that I will gravitate and hold on to, to your word and not let my soul get injured by what I just heard. Make sense?
Dr. Oscar
And if I could add to that, and then we'll take the question. Some people were not injured as children, they were sheltered, but they got injured as adults because they were sheltered as children. So what they saw when they got out into the real world devastated them. Injured the soul, if you will. And now they don't know what to do. They're adults. You're on your own. How do you find or how do you make this room? And that is when you have got to go to God's word. That's the only thing. And going to church, of course, but going to the Word and the Word becoming flesh in your injured places, it can heal the injured places. If we can grasp the fact that the Word is powerful enough to heal your injured soul, then you can come out of these deserted places, these injured places, because the Word is God and he is able to save. That's real. That's not just words. It's the truth. He can save your soul.
Pastor Don
I'mma come to your question.
Worship Leader
Go ahead after 50 seconds.
Pastor Don
No, I don't want no seconds. I'm coming to her question.
Worship Leader
Okay, after you ask your question, tell us your name, where you come from.
Jennifer
I'm, I'm Jennifer.
Worship Leader
Hi Jennifer.
Jennifer
Yes. So I'm new here, so I did get here in November, so I mean, wonderful.
Worship Leader
Welcome to the Fan.
Pastor J
Welcome.
Worship Leader
Tell us your question.
Jennifer
I'm wanting to get to the double edged sword part. I think that's. He used 4:12 because it seems as if when you're speaking about what individuals find different situations that we find ourselves in, it becomes a thin line there where God is showing us that that situation was something that was only his area or this is my area, this is my space, you know, is as it relates to your soul and you're allowing things of situations to enter into this section here or into his space that only that double edged sword can kind of, kind of that thin line is more defined basically. So it's like he's the Holy Spirit is revealed.
Hayden
Howdy, howdy ho, and welcome to Fantasy Fan Fellas. I'm Hayden, producer of the Fantasy Fangirls podcast and your resident lover of all things Sanderson.
Stephen
And I'm Stephen, your bookish Internet goofball, but you can call me the Smash Daddy.
Hayden
And we are currently deep diving Brandon Sanderson's fantasy epic Mistborn. But here's the catch. Steven here has not read Mistborn before.
Stephen
That's right.
Speaker M
Hei, hei.
Stephen
So each week you'll get my unfiltered raw reactions to every single choice.
Hayden
And along the way, we'll do character deep dives, magic explainers, and Steven will even try to guess what's next. Spoiler alert. He'll be wrong.
Stephen
News flash, I'm never wrong. Episodes come out every Wednesday, and you can find Fantasy Fan fellows wherever you get your podcasts.
Worship Leader
All right, ladies, when you've done the work, you want your hydration to do the same. Introducing new Gatorade lower sugar now with no artificial flavors, sweeteners or colors. And 75% less sugar and all the electrons lights of regular Gatorade now available nationwide.
Jennifer
That you may have spent too much time thinking about this when that time was his time, or you may have shared your emotions may have developed too much or more so that should have been feelings that only should have been for him or for the Holy Spirit or for that. For that connection with him. So I just wanted you to. I just. I didn't know if you're going to get to that. The double edged sword. But that's what. That was my question.
Pastor Cora
Yes, Jennifer, hold on.
Worship Leader
What was your question? Did y' all hear a question?
Pastor Cora
Jennifer, my question is, are you asking as it relates to Hebrews 4 and 12. For the word of God is quick, sharp, powerful than any two edged sword.
Jennifer
How it divides between the soul, how
Pastor Cora
it would between the soul and soul.
Pastor Kermit
Spirit.
Pastor Cora
Yes, see, I think absolutely.
Jennifer
So my question is. I don't know. Is it a question or is it
Dr. Oscar
more of a comment?
Pastor Kermit
I think I hear your question.
Pastor Cora
Yeah.
Pastor Don
What is your question in your statement?
Worship Leader
Be your journey mate. You know what I'm saying? I don't know.
Pastor Cora
I.
Pastor Don
We understand your question in the statement.
Worship Leader
Yeah, that's all that means matters.
Pastor Cora
Well, the word. My pleasure. I think the answer to a potential question in terms of what you're saying, I want to make sure I'm quoting this properly. For the word of God is quick and powerful and sharper than any two edged sword, piercing even to the dividing aunder of soul. And spirit. Now you mentioned, you, you mentioned also sometimes we might share information with someone else. That's what I heard. Or we might talk about situations, but we should have been spending time with him or talking to him about it. Because the next part of that says and of the joints and the marrow and is a discerner of the thoughts and the intents of the heart. I heard the statement. What I'm pulling out is when the word of God shows you what's your mind and what is the spirit. The Holy Ghost challenges me all the time. He said, uh, that's you. This is me over here.
Pastor J
Does that make sense?
Pastor Cora
That's what I heard you say. Okay. The Holy Ghost also says to me, okay, now you can share it with your therapist, you can share it with your friend. But on the other end of it, I need to hear this. Because if you come to me first, you might have a lesser bill. I'm not saying don't go to therapy. It's good. Praise God. Just make sure you have a Holy Ghost filled therapist or someone who believes in the word of God. God. Because their opinion over the word of God is not an opinion at all. It's a suggestion. I want to tie that in there and anybody else want to throw it.
Pastor Kermit
Because I think that is so important. Because sometimes our. We can confuse our voice with God's voice. And that what I love about that passage is the piercing asunder, the separation. And Pastor Dobbins said it so, so greatly is that we need God to help us discern his voice. Because we're making decisions and we're moving and sometimes our emotions get in the way. And the enemy is so cunning that he can influence what you're hearing because he moves in a realm of thoughts. And so you're thinking about something and you see something and you start to marinate on it. We see it over and over again. He inflicts influenced Eve. He was the influencer of her thoughts to make her start thinking about something that God told her to stay away until she thought about it so much that his thought became her thought. This is what happens. Because if we're not careful to pull down every vain imagination and to go after it, you will, you will start to marinate on stuff that was never for your mind, your. Your emotions, your intellect. And now you get confused. God, is this you? Is this me? Should I not go? And sometimes fear sounds like your voice. Oh, can I tag, tag you in?
Dr. Oscar
So to that point, what just hit me like a brick was my sheep know my voice. And a stranger, they will not follow. But the only way you'll know his voice is that you know His Word. And if we can get to the point, you know, other religions, if you will have their followers rehearse the word, rehearse the terms, rehearse the beliefs, rehearse the doctrine, and you become. I remember back in the old day, they used to call us holy rollers, right? They called us holy rollers because we could quote Scriptures, because we jumped and shouted, because, you know, we spoke in tongues, the whole thing. But the thing was, we knew the Word. And if we could get back to the Word, if we could get back to believing that all I got to do is read it. All I got to do is read it, and he will reveal it to me. Then I will fill myself up with the Word, and I won't be so easily distracted by the enemies that are coming after my mind.
Pastor Don
Let me.
Pastor Kermit
Because it takes us being in his presence to become accustomed with his voice. It is not just a jump in and jump out out. But if I'm going to be familiar with your voice, I got to be around you.
Dr. Oscar
I got to be around you.
Pastor Kermit
I got to. I got to be in your presence. I got to sit and listen. I can't do all the talking. I got to let you talk to me because I got to learn your voice so that I won't be fooled by another.
Dr. Oscar
And while you're there, sitting in his presence, take the Word, because He'll talk to you through the Word. You may not hear an audible voice, but the Spirit will lead you to Psalms 23. The Lord is my shepherd, and that Word will become flesh in you. And stand up. I challenge y' all to just read His Word. I challenge you.
Pastor Don
Let me.
Dr. Oscar
I challenge you to just pick up His Word in your quiet time.
Pastor Don
Yeah.
Dr. Oscar
And read it and watch it speak to you.
Dr. Val
Maybe not in an audible voice, but
Dr. Oscar
it'll speak to your spirit. Spirit deep calleth unto deep his soul. Your soul will respond to the Spirit of His Word because God saves our souls by His Spirit.
Pastor Don
Let me. Let me add another layer of that to your kind of. Holistically, you can hear his voice. The challenge part is it sounds just like you. Y' all sound alike. He doesn't change his voice and sound like this. It sounds audibly like you. So don't let situations and challenges change how you see God. John the Baptist identifies Jesus at the water when it's convenient. John the Baptist also questioned, if it's Jesus, are you the one, or should I Look for another because of a circumstance. So just because you know him in one area, don't let situations change it. He's still who he is, right? He was. While you're going through it, he's still God when he was getting ready to be baptized. And he's still God. And so many times we think God's voice has something to do with our challenges. In our challenges, God still speaks to us when it's uncomfortable. That's the reason for the Psalm 23.
Pastor Cora
Jennifer, you gonna be just fine. Y' all give God a praise.
Worship Leader
Gonna be just fine, Jennifer. The other thing. Help me. Thank you. The other thing about the Word is that the devil doesn't negotiate with it.
Pastor Don
Yes.
Worship Leader
When you use the word against the enemy, he has to move out of your way. When we use the Word as a strategy, we see that the enemy tempted Jesus and every single time he responded with the Word, says the word says the word says so much. So until the devil moved away. And so sometimes it's important for you to have the Word so that you can move the enemy out of your way. He doesn't negotiate with the Word. He surrenders to it.
Speaker M
And.
Pastor Kermit
And to that same passage, the way you know it's the enemy, the enemy will misconstrue the word of God because in that same passage, he was speaking the word but adding a twist or turn to it. This is how you know, wait a minute. This is the enemy voice. Because God's word does not change. I can. I can just oppose what I heard to his word. If it doesn't line up, that's not him. If it's not saying what he's saying, that's not Him. God is not going to change His Word to fit your situation or your circumstance. Sometimes that word is going to cut you like it's cutting your spirit and your soul. That's how you know it's His Word. It's not always going to be comfortable, but when you get to that altar, you start getting chipped by the altar. You know, I'm at the altar of God because the Word is trying to reshape me and reform me so that I look more like him and less like myself.
Dr. Oscar
And man shall not live by bread, bread alone, but by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God. This is the proceeding word.
Worship Leader
It's in the big book. Tell us your name.
Pastor Don
Yes, ma', am.
Brandy
My name is Brandy.
Worship Leader
Hey, Brandy, what's your question?
Brandy
I feel like standing up here, y', all just answering my questions while I'm Standing here. So I want to go back to my seat.
Worship Leader
All right, well, go ahead, but you got another question. Okay, go ahead.
Jennifer
Okay.
Brandy
So you had mentioned something earlier about staying away from dry people.
Pastor Cora
Can you bring the mic a little bit closer? Can you speak up?
Brandy
Can you hear me now?
Dr. Oscar
Yes.
Worship Leader
Project like a preacher.
Brandy
Okay. Can y' all hear me now?
Worship Leader
Yes. Okay, that's a little better. Preacher, but maybe praise, worship. I'm getting there.
Jennifer
Go ahead.
Brandy
You mentioned something earlier about staying away from dry people. And sometimes you come to church and you feel all wet and you feeling all high and feeling good, whatever. And the moment you get in your car, things start to shift. You answer a phone call or you get home and you start to feel depleted or you start to dry out. And unfortunately, some of the people in your life you cannot get rid of.
Pastor Don
Help God.
Worship Leader
Take your time.
Dr. Oscar
How do you keep going when you
Brandy
cannot get rid of these people? I mean, they rely on you and you almost pour into them so much like they depend on you to pour in them. So it's almost like I have to keep myself together to keep them together, but I'm running out. So how do you keep
Pastor Cora
Brandi, your. Your quest for what you're going through. I could tell it hurts. It's also several questions that you can't see. Someone online articulated. What do you do when you like you don't. The Bible says don't be weary and well doing. We get tired. You're tired of living holy. You're tired of going to church. I know you can't say it to us, but you're tired, you're frustrated, and things don't seem to be changing because the enemy works on your mind. The weariness is the body to the person online. Then there's another question that says, what do I do when I can't feel God, when I'm seeking him? And that's what I'm hearing. You say I'm seeking God, but when I go in this environment with people who I can't get rid of, I don't feel him. I want to ask a question. I want to give answer because I want to make sure that I'm exact. When you say the people that you can't get rid of, who are we referring to if we can have a vulnerable moment? Is this a mate? Is this children? Are these family members? Are these co workers?
Pastor Don
Now you don't have to. If you don't feel, don't. Yes. If you don't. No. We can address it another way. Yeah, we can address that. Another way.
Pastor Cora
Okay.
Pastor Don
I don't want to put any.
Pastor Cora
Well, let me. Let me blanket she on national tv.
Worship Leader
She cannot tell you that she cannot get.
Pastor Kermit
But I think we are watching in a very general way.
Pastor Cora
I think we're good. So, cuz, here's what I hear. Here. Here's what I hear. There are a whole lot of people that if you're honest, you would get rid of them. But if God got rid of the people, would that make you perfect? Sometimes you need the irritations. Do we have an answer? I'm sorry?
Worship Leader
Zooming in on family, family draining children, all of the responsibilities that you have as a. As a mom, as a sister, as a daughter.
Pastor Cora
Absolutely. Absolutely. There are often times when people in your family are actually the part of the text when the Bible says iron sharpens iron. So does one man sharpen another? The. The oyster only produces the pearl because of the irritations. There are some things we will never be able to get rid of. My wife and I often say this. After multiple decades of being married, marriage grows you up. Marriage checks to make sure that you're really saved, because you're going to go through some things that make you deny yourself and crucify your flesh. But I also want to speak to the elasticity of it. You're not stuck. The Bible says what the spirit of the Lord is. There is liberty, there is freedom. God knew that you're the woman for the job, the mother for the job, the sister for the job. God knew that you're the person. He'll never put more on you than you can bear. You might be weary. So this is the deer going up the mountain, but having to come back down to get a drink. Just don't forget to get a drink.
Dr. Oscar
Can I ask.
Pastor Don
I want to. No, no, you go ahead.
Dr. Oscar
You really asked.
Patient
We all prefer things a certain way, like groceries. If you want groceries just how you like them, you gotta try Instacart. They have a new preference picker that lets you pick how ripe or unripe you want your bananas. Shoppers can see your preferences upfront, helping guide their choices. Because when it comes to groceries, the details matter. Instacart get groceries just how you like.

Dr. Oscar
The great question because it can apply to anybody.
Pastor Don
Absolutely.
Dr. Oscar
Going through anything with anybody you know, it doesn't matter what the circumstance it is, whether it's children, whether it's a mate, whether it's on your job, all of those situations can drain you. And you can get home from being at work and be drained. Right. You can get home and whatever the situation is. You really ask a great question. Because I. I can say about 99 of us in this room have been drained from something.
Pastor Don
Amen.
Dr. Oscar
And from someone.
Pastor Don
Amen.
Dr. Oscar
And the thing is that Pastor Dobbins just said, you are resisting. Resilient. The soul is resilient. Hopefully we can get to the tree before we.
Pastor Don
Oh, we just talked about it.
Dr. Oscar
But the soul is resilient. And what the enemy wants to do is think. Make you think. Make us think that we're so delicate and we're so weak that we can't handle it. But the soul is resilient. The soul is strong. That's why the Lord had to come and save us. Because our souls are so strong. Our souls are so resilient. It takes on a form of its own. And if it had not been for the salvation of the Lord, we would all be of most men miserable. Miserable. Because we all take on a form of soulishness, of soulishness. And it wears us all out at some point because we are spirit beings.
Pastor Don
When I tell you, you have asked the perfect question. Because that just doesn't fit you. That fits all of us.
Pastor J
Yeah.
Pastor Don
Dr. Crumpton just alluded to it. I don't know if we're going to land or end here, but the one thing that I felt was you. Your question is the perfect example in Psalms 1. When it says that he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water that bringeth forth fruit in his season. His leaves shall not wither. His leaves shall not wither. The purpose of the writer is. Is originally from the book of Genesis. It is about a tree that is planted around four different rivers. So just in case one river dries up, they have more than one source. And oftentimes, whether it's self care, whether it's being in the church, whether it's around being other people, we have to make sure we don't have just one river.
Worship Leader
Yeah.
Pastor Don
So do me a favor. Can y' all put. TV team, can y' all put that illustration up with the one that has all of the animation to it, the animation into it, that's you. That make sure you're connected, have a work group who's in your. With who's in your circle. All of that is important. So when one river dries up. Oh, I'm so tired over here, I have another river that I can connect to. And the problem with some of us, we give too many people too much of us. And we give people us who don't value us. And we've let disqualified people try to qualify us to. Now we're tired and now we're shaping in iniquity and we think less of ourself and we have become a better version of ourselves because we don't understand that God has given us more than one river. And it's important that we understand that God gives us more than one river. In finances, we call it diversifying your portfolio.
Pastor Cora
Yes, sir.
Pastor Don
I pull all of your eggs in one basket. I love my family to death. My family does not get all of me because they have dried me out before and I love them. But God says, you got to understand, this is the bone in the marrow. Some stuff is designed just for me to feel. Some rivers are just for me. Some rivers in life that's not meant to stop spilling over to other people and that's not meant for them because you will give all of yourself and they can't handle all of you.
Worship Leader
Do you think sometimes we try to be rivers when we should be trees?
Jennifer
That's good.
Pastor Don
Come on.
Worship Leader
Maybe that's why you're being drained, is because you're trying to be a source. You weren't meant to be all of that. You were meant to be the tree that was rooted in the ground, connected to the source instead of being the source.
Pastor Don
So instead of being a river, she should be a tree.
Pastor Kermit
I'm thinking be the tree planted.
Pastor Cora
It's okay.
Worship Leader
To your children. You need to bring them in to emotional regulation.
Pastor Don
Yeah.
Worship Leader
Mommy is tired. We're going to sit here and we're going to take some breaths together because this is what you do when you're tired. Sister is tired. I'm going to read you some of the scriptures or send you Some of the scriptures I read today that helped me with my tired. You have to tell people the truth about your capacity, because if you don't, they will drain you until you tell them otherwise, including your children. Bring them in. Bring them into the fold. Sometimes Mommy gets overstimulated. My God, children, we do it all the time. Mommy's overstimulated. Mommy's overwhelmed. Give her a minute. Give her a minute. Let's breathe. Let's take some time. We have to teach our children how to regulate their nervous systems.
Pastor Don
Can I ask you a question as a man? I don't know, because as a man, I'll back off of it real quick because I don't care. But as sometimes as women, y' all can over. Like, y' all give all of yourself and. And you give so much of you. And I'm thinking, stop it. Like, what is that about you all? You just keep giving and giving and giving, nurturing, giving. I'm like, man, forget that.
Pastor Kermit
But. But. But in a. In a general sense. And not just.
Pastor Don
But y' all know I must be
Pastor Kermit
telling the truth before you, my sister. But even. Even just as a generality, we had. We said this scripture earlier, and it's something that we quote all the time in Psalms 23, we talked about. He leaded me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul. And out of all of that, I also hear a reminder that this good shepherd restores your soul. As he's leading you, he will lead you to the river that will restore you. It is self care. It's just. It's a practical thing that in life, we are humans. So self care, that restoration of the soul has to be a part of that so that you are good for other people. But I just wanted to give that for all of us. Allow the shepherd to restore your soul for questions.
Pastor Don
Now,
Pastor Cora
here's what I sense. I know Pastor Cora is there as well. Can we get a group of women, three or four, who are mothers and understands what she's saying? Come on, we're a church. Can somebody jump up and hug my sister?
Pastor J
Can.
Pastor Cora
Can somebody jump up and let her
Pastor J
know that we are right in the
Pastor Cora
fight with her, that we understand? Brandi, you are not in this alone. You are not in this by yourself. God loves you. Your soul is resilient. I know it's been delicate. I know it's been hard. I know it's been tough. I know it's been weighty.
Pastor J
The burden seems to be backed up. But God is backing you by the
Pastor Cora
power of his Spirit, can I get somebody to give God a praise?
Pastor Don
Hallelujah. I don't know the questions.
Dr. Oscar
As a woman, it is so good when other women can support.
Pastor Don
Yeah.
Dr. Oscar
And. And I know I'm not in this alone, and so. Brandy, you're not in it alone. You have women in this church. It's a big church, but we're. We're big family. Family. But we can come together, and that's the great thing about us. So take all of these hugs home. Take all of this love home tonight and. And this restoration. This is restoration. By the way, can we ask you, as we kind of go to the next place to stand on your feet and hug somebody, Just stand up and hug somebody. Because you don't know how much that hug is going to help that soul. Some people go home by their cells at night and they need a hug. It doesn't matter. Just. Yeah, hug, hug, hug. That hug can restore. That hug can heal the soul, even the sin sick soul, because the peace of God is wrapping its arms around you. The love of God is holding on to you right now. The great God that you are. He wants the mic, but I gave him a hug.
Pastor Kermit
Hallelujah. Thank you.
Dr. Oscar
Oh, my.
Pastor Kermit
Thank you.
Pastor Don
I think. I think the thing is. No, you can answer it. You can answer it if you want to know, you can ask. No, you can answer it if you want to.
Pastor Kermit
Go ahead. Go ahead.
Pastor Don
Go ahead.
Pastor Kermit
Go ahead, sister. Go ahead.
Chinaza
Hello, everyone.
Dr. Oscar
Hello.
Chinaza
Yeah, my name is Chinaza, and I moved her here about a year ago. So thank God for that. The message on Sunday was really profound for me because just as you said, Pastor, it brought me back to my childhood, you know, all the scars and how I was able. The Holy Spirit was able to really show me that there's another onion peel that needed to be cleared up in my. In my life, in my walk with him, him, in my relationships. So I went into, you know, deep prayer in the last several days to clean my soul. And the Holy Spirit just kept on ministering me and ministering to me. But one of the things that I found was I got to a place that it was so hard, and I wanted someone there to be there with me, to walk me through. I mean, the Holy Spirit was. Was walking me through. But it was that self fighting that self. And my question is, you know, what do you do when you're in that hard place and you just simply cannot fight by yourself and you need someone to fight for you. And what I hear the Holy Spirit said to me is like, think about a Ministry, a healing, ministry for the soul. So my question is how like the
Pastor Kermit
Holy Spirit answers your question.
Worship Leader
Yeah, that's what it sound like to me, like you had asked him a question.
Pastor Kermit
I don't think there's anything that we could add to what the Holy Spirit has already said to you. I think that instruction, that instruction, and I think it. Sometimes we come for confirmation, sometimes it's good just to hear it affirmed. But the best voice has already spoken to you. The, the revelation has already come. The connection has already come. We talk about a lot, the community. And yes, there are moments where we feel like God, I just need to be partnered with somebody that can intercede for me. And God is saying, I put you in community with people, but sometimes you have to make the step and be transparent and say, listen, I need you, my brother, my sister, sister, I need you to pray with me. Get on the phone and call some. So. So you got your answer. Now it's action. Now, Father, lead me to the person who will be a midwife for me to help me carry and bring to pass what I need to God. You brought me into this church, you told me I need to get in community, you know, told me, God, lead me to that place. Let me hear. Lead me beside the still water so my soul can be restored.
Worship Leader
And listen, people that come to Bible study are for real, you know, like, they're for real about their call. They're for real about wanting to get closer to God. They're for real about studying. Like you come to church on Sunday, like you may be playing a little bit, but when you come to Bible study, you are serious about learning, learning the word and getting it in. Come on, there's a prayer partner in here for you. There's a prayer partner in here. You just grab somebody in here. We're both like minded individuals trying to get closer to God. I need a prayer partner. Do you need a prayer partner? Somebody partner with this woman in here. Let's come together. We are, like he said, a community, a family. And why come to Bible study and not say nothing to nobody? Say hi to your neighbor. How are you? Is there something I could pray about for you? Is there something that you need? We gotta be better, y'.
Pastor Don
All.
Worship Leader
We gotta be better.
Dr. Oscar
We're journey mates.
Worship Leader
Yes, we're journey maids.
Dr. Oscar
Tell somebody I'm a journey mate.
Pastor Cora
I'm a journey mate.
Dr. Oscar
Tell somebody I'm a journey mate. We're in this together.
Pastor Cora
Is it Chazo, you didn't miss your opportunity. You would just focus on getting it out through your question. When my sister Brandy was receiving all those hugs from all the other mothers, those were rivers. So we'll do it once more. Do I have anybody who understands what it's like to be Chinaza? Would you go up? Would you hug her? Would you commit to being a prayer party?
Worship Leader
Been asked, asking God to show up for you. You've been pushing as hard as you can.
Pastor Cora
There we go. There we go. There we go. Glory to God. These are the rivers that support that tree. Yeah. These are the rivers that allow the tree to flourish in the Garden of Eden. There was Pison, Gihon, Hidakil, and the Euphrates River. These are the rivers that are strengthening her.
Pastor J
These are the rivers that's going to help prosper her soul. These are the rivers that's going to help plant her into a journey of prayer and praise and worship.
Pastor Cora
These are the rivers that God has sent to be a blessing to her soul.
Pastor J
I dare you to stand on your feet and give God glory. In fact, if you would just begin to stretch your hands forth, we gonna take care of this tonight. Dr. Crumpton, would you lead us in a word of prayer toward my sister?
Dr. Oscar
Yes. And it's not just for the women. It's for the brothers, too.
Pastor J
That's right.
Dr. Oscar
So if there's a brother out in this that needs another brother to hug them, to hold them, to pray with them, to be a journey mate, don't be afraid to join with your brother to say, I need a journey mate. Father, in the name of Jesus, Lord, I pray for my sisters and my brothers who stand in need of prayer. I pray for them. They're going through things that they can't even express, they can't even verbalize, they can't talk about. It has to be in a secret place. But help us to be those journey mates that we might walk alongside them as we all take a journey together.
Dr. Val
You would not have put us in
Dr. Oscar
a community if you didn't want us to do it together. And we're here, oh God, for one another. We just need you to help us
Dr. Val
be here for one another. Not just coming to the house of prayer or to the church or to the place of worship to be in the house, but to be a journey made for somebody. Connect us, put us together. Because a threefold cord is not easily broken. And together we can hold one another up. Together the soul can be healed. Together we can be stronger. So touch my sister and my brother on either side of me. Meet them right where they are, God,
Dr. Oscar
and help heal the weary soul Power word in Jesus name.
Pastor Cora
Come on, lift your hands.
Pastor J
This is why I want to go to a church like this. This is what you logged on for. Don't you feel alone? We are praying right in the chat. This. Come on. Can we give God praise for the Potter's House of Dallas, Texas? Come on, can we give it up? Can we give God glory for putting us into a house of safety, a house of security, a house of community, a house of development? Come on, can we? Come on, let's give him glory. Come on, let's magnify him. Glorious God, mighty God.
Dr. Val
Whoa.
Pastor J
Lord have mercy.
Pastor Cora
We talked about the soul prospering, but I want to make sure that your soul has been saved. If you don't know Jesus Christ, whether you are in the comments or you are in the sanctuary, if you don't know Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, we want to invite you down. We want to. And we want to welcome you into this marvelous family. Is there one? Is there one?
Pastor J
If you're online, you can put it in the chat.
Pastor Cora
We've got people watching online right now.
Pastor J
We love you.
Pastor Cora
We are community here. This, this is the house of God. I just want to make sure that everybody's safe.
Pastor J
Well, can't we give some glory, honor and praise that we saved one day? We're on our way to streets made with gold, not paid with gold. We're on our way to a place that you won't even have to worry about. This drama in this old world. The burdens will be gone away. Lord have mercy. I want to sow into this atmosphere. I want to sow into a church that is community. I want to sow into a church that I can trust. I want to sow into a church that has an amazing children's ministry like Destiny World. Can we give it up for destiny
Worship Leader
world
Pastor J
from 6 months all the way up to. To 12 years old. Can we give it up for firehouse Youth Ministry from 13 to 18 or 19 years old? Can we give God glory for this immaculate sanctuary? Can we give God glory for the leadership of Bishop T.D. jakes for almost 30 years? Come on, you can trust your tithes and offering going here. This is no plead. You get to partner in the process. God has already made a way. I'd love to tell them what the soul pastor does. I. I'd love to say you sow a hundred, you sow a thousand, some can show. So 10,000, some can show 250,000. Whatever the Lord has put in your spirit to sow.
Pastor Cora
This is the moment to sow.
Pastor J
This is not only a movement. This is a matriculation of the glory of God.
Pastor Cora
God. The potter's house is special, y'.
Pastor Kermit
All.
Pastor J
It's special.
Pastor Cora
Oh, God, it's special.
Pastor J
Dr. Val has been here since 1999. Can we give it up for Dr. Val? Doctor Oscar is getting older now.
Pastor Cora
He been here 20 years.
Pastor J
Pastor Don is going to commit to another 20 years. I'm committed for.
Pastor Cora
For him right now.
Pastor J
Listen, Pastor Don loved the potter's house so much, he moved his entire family across the country to come here to be a part of this ministry. Raise your hand if you came from another state like I did.
Pastor Cora
See, look at this place. When God starts gathering all his children together, that means he's doing something special.
Pastor J
Now, Jacob sold in Genesis 26 and 12.
Pastor Cora
And the Bible says that he received
Pastor J
a hundredfold in the same year. And then the text had enough, had the nerve to say he got a hundredfold. But then the Bible says, then the Lord blessed him.
Pastor Cora
The hundredfold was not even the blessing.
Pastor J
Then Deuteronomy 1:11 says, God will bless you a thousand times. So many more as you are. I don't know.
Jennifer
Is.
Pastor J
Is anybody believing God like me for a thousand fold return. I don't know about you, but I speak bonuses, checks, commissions and contracts over you. I speak joint ventures. I speak bonds going up, annuities. I speak, let me tell you, I speak mutual funds. I speak 401ks, 403bs. I speak retirement income equity and real estate like never before. I pray that God will blow your mind. Lift that seed in the air. Father, we thank you for anointing, not some 30, 60, and 100 fold. We thank you for the thousandfold blessing. In fact, God, we ask that you would break a rule. You can bless somebody with a million fold. Take these funds and allow them to reverberate around the world so that we can bless your kingdom and help more people. Do some ridiculous things with these seeds. Bless our families, heal our families. Snatch people off of drugs, snatch them out of alcohol, snatch them out of addictions. Do what you want to do, Daddy. Throw your weight around in this offering. We'll be so ever careful to give you the glory, honor and praise in the invincible name of Jesus. Together as a friend, we're going to say. Now, can we praise him on credit, Pastor? Seed all the way down to the left. Can we praise him on credit? Can we praise him on credit? Lord have mercy.
Pastor Don
Whoa.
Pastor J
Hey. Lord is the spirit of joy in this place? Merciful God. Come on. I know you sowing with the praise. We sow with the praise. Can we sow with the praise? Can we sow with the. Thank you Jesus. Can we sow. So whether it's already done, can we sew with the way it's already made. You might as well get ready to check your cash app, Your Zel, your PayPal and everything else. You might as well get ready to check your accounts. Cuz I don't know what God's going to do, but he's going to do something, baby. He's about to do something.
Pastor Cora
It's not just in finances. It's in faith.
Pastor J
It's in focus.
Pastor Cora
It's in faith. Fuel. It's in the fire of God. Lord have mercy. Remind me I gotta sew with my phone. I left my phone. I got so excited. But trust me, I'm sewing in this atmosphere.
Pastor J
Somebody say announcement. I want to make sure that you prepare yourself. Some people call it Easter, but we call it Resurrection Sunday. Get ready for resurrection Sunday on April 5th. Can we give God glory, honor and praise? You never know what to expect here at the Potter's house. We've seen preaching, we've seen teaching, we've seen plays. Something special is about to happen and you heard it here first. Get ready.
Pastor Cora
Easter.
Pastor J
Resurrection Sunday is going to be be prolific. It is going to be profound. The glory of God is about to do something ridiculous. Make sure that you understand that. The doors open at 7:45am what time? You can put 7:45am in the chat. Service will begin at 9am why are we telling you to get here at 7:45am cuz it's gonna be jam packed, baby. We are getting ready to celebrate our risen Savior.
Pastor Kermit
Whoa.
Pastor J
Hallelujah. It's the only reason
Pastor Cora
why we get to allow our souls to prosper and be in health. Glory to God.
Pastor J
Would you do me a favor as we close out and reach out and
Pastor Cora
touch somebody saying my, my, my. If you need a little extra love, you can make it a hug. It's okay. We're family. We're family. We're family. Pastor Cora said something that I echo. Serious people come to Bible study. Serious people log on and watch Bible study. Serious people are in this room.
Pastor J
You don't know.
Pastor Cora
You just connected with the world changer.
Pastor J
You just connected with the world shaker. You just connected with your next prayer warrior.
Pastor Cora
Father, we thank you. Our hearts burned as you talk with us. Thank you for the worship team.
Pastor J
Thank you for the deacons, thank you
Pastor Cora
for the professional ministry technicians. Thank you for Dr. Val, who sung the beautiful song to usher us in.
Pastor J
Thank you for the wisdom and the
Pastor Cora
prolific sound power of Dr. Oscar and Pastor Dom. Thank you for Kermit and my brothers on the keys and the drums and everything else. Lord, we thank you for simple things, things like the person next to us. We thank you for simple things like being able to make it here.
Pastor J
We thank you for simple things like allowing your glory to shine in this sanctuary.
Pastor Cora
Now, Lord, as we leave this place, but never from your presence. We ask that you would envelop us with a freshness like the four rivers, to help hydrate our souls until we
Pastor J
see you again on Sunday.
Pastor Cora
Sunday.
Pastor J
But in fact, we going to see you tonight.
Pastor Cora
We'll see you in the car.
Pastor J
We'll see you in the morning devotion. We'll see you when we're at home.
Pastor Cora
We're going to see you on the job.
Pastor J
We give you the glory, the honor and the praise in the invincible name of Jesus.
Pastor Cora
Amen and amen.
Pastor J
I'll see you on Sunday. Love you. Love you.

Are you alright?

This impactful episode brings together a panel of pastors for "Walk It Out Wednesday," focusing on the theme: “As Your Soul Prospers.” Building off a recent Sunday sermon, the pastors explore what it means for the soul to prosper according to scripture, discuss the distinction between soul and spirit, and answer real and raw questions from the audience—both in-person and online. It’s a deeply practical and healing session, emphasizing that spiritual growth is a journey best taken together as a community.
"Nobody has mastered the soul process… we're always evolving. As soon as we think we've mastered something, God creates a void just so he can teach us something else."
— Pastor Don, [05:44]
"We are triune beings. We are spirit with a soul living in a body, made after the image and the likeness of God."
— Pastor Kermit, [08:49]
"Return your rest, O my soul. For the Lord has dealt bountifully with you… God has delivered my soul from death…"
— Dr. Val, [17:29]
"Your soul is resilient, but yet is very delicate. It's impressionable."
— Pastor Toure (clip), [31:13]
A. How do I make room for God to heal my soul?
B. How does the Word act as a “double-edged sword” between soul and spirit?
"Sometimes our emotions get in the way, and the enemy can influence what you're hearing… if it doesn't line up to the Word, that's not Him." [47:06]
C. How do you keep from “drying out” around draining people (especially those you can’t avoid, like family)?
"My family does not get all of me because they have dried me out before… Some rivers are just for me."
— Pastor Don, [63:55]
D. What do you do when you can't fight for your soul alone and need help?
"You would not have put us in a community if you didn't want us to do it together… A threefold cord is not easily broken." [76:41]
"Tell somebody, I'm a journey mate. We're in this together."
— Dr. Oscar, [74:12]
"The Word is food for the soul."
— Pastor Kermit, [18:27]
"Tell people the truth about your capacity, because if you don't, they will drain you until you tell them otherwise, including your children."
— Worship Leader, [65:07]
"Allow the shepherd to restore your soul… Self-care, restoration of the soul, has to be a part."
— Pastor Kermit, [66:29]
"We are journey mates… We just need you to help us be here for one another… Together the soul can be healed."
— Dr. Oscar, [77:16]
"My sheep know my voice, and a stranger they will not follow. The only way you'll know his voice is that you know His Word."
— Dr. Oscar, [48:11]
The conversation is dynamic, deeply scriptural, warm, and vulnerable. The pastors blend biblical teaching, personal testimony, and practical wisdom. Humor and candid reflection abound, making space for tears and laughter alike. Audience questions are handled with grace and authenticity, emphasizing the shared journey and communal healing.
“We are journey mates… Together the soul can be healed.”
— Dr. Oscar [77:16]
For anyone longing for a thriving soul: stay in the Word, stay in community, and let God restore you at the waters of worship and fellowship.
