Francisco Galarte is an Assistant Professor of American Studies and Women, Gender and Sexuality studies at the University of New Mexico, as well as the author of “Brown Trans Figurations: Rethinking Race, Gender and Sexuality in Chicanx/Latinx studies.” He joins Amy and Bryan on this episode to discuss his experience with gender and masculinity, how he defines gender concepts, the intersection between race and gender, how policies and systems challenge cultural progress, what it looks like to celebrate gender identity and how to holistically redefine gender, as well as what people can expect to learn from his book.
