Drawing from her own experiences with things like lash extensions, hair extensions, Botox, wardrobe changes, and beauty routines, she emphasizes that these choices are not about pleasing others but about making oneself feel good and worthy of care. Is this the season where you get hot? Hypothetically, is this your hot girl summer? Is this time? Is it time? I can't know the answer for that. I think, yes, I think I want that for you. I think I want that for me. But I cannot get this idea out of my head. And I keep thinking it's an absolutely ludicrous podcast topic and potentially you guys are going to revoke my feminist guard and send me angry dms because look shouldn't matter. And like all of the yes. And period, point blank, when I look good, when I feel like I look good, I feel better. I feel better in my spirit when I feel like I look good. There is science to back this up. There is psychology to back this up. We know this is true. And we could stand around and we could be like, yeah, it shouldn't be that way. You're right, it shouldn't be that way. But it is. So if it is, is it time to consider, you know, a little something, is what I'm saying, a little whatever it is for you in today's episode, I would love to discuss, as if you and I were having coffee. Like, what are some options for elevating your look? I've done a podcast episode that was a glow up without any physical alterations. No, today we're being vapid. Okay? Today we are being, for two seconds we're going to be a little bit like focused on our looks. And then we could go back to spiritual growth and childhood trauma and all of this crap that we were trying to figure out. But for a second, can we talk about, I don't know, beauty? What are you wearing? Is your bra from, you know, three presidents ago? Okay, like, when's the last time you bought some pants that fit? Let's just talk about, like, a few things that would make us feel better. Some of them, if you've got the budget, you're going to invest a budget. Some of them don't need any money. Just a little bit more intention. At least listen to the episode. Don't immediately go to this place where you're like, I don't identify with the word hot. Yeah, me neither. I'm not 20. Even when I was 20, nobody has ever one time in my life been like, well, maybe my husband. But even then, you know, it's because he's, like, looking at my boobs and he's like, you know, he's gonna hype me up, right? Nobody's describing me as hot. And that's okay. But between you, me, and our coffee date, let's just. Can we get into it? Can we talk about some things? And like I said, this was this idea I have not been able to get out of my head that I should do an episode about this. If you hate it, it's one of a thousand episodes. You can just, you know, go on back to last week or wait till next week. But I did an episode a couple of months ago on how to go on vacation, which I thought was, like, such a ridiculous idea, and you guys loved that episode. So maybe I need to do more episodes that are, like, things I think no one will care about. But then you totally do. So let's see. This will be our latest experiment. Where do we even begin? I mean, typically, I lay out a whole framework for my episodes. Today's just a chat. I think that we should start with me convincing you that you are worth investing in. Let's start there. That feels like a good big sister thing to do. And I guess in order to do that, we need to start with what I grew up looking like and what I feel like I look like today. And, you know, for the five people who listen to these episodes, because you can't stand me, you're just looking for more reasons not to stand me. This will be your dream episode. Cause it's gonna be super superficial. But I grew up. I don't even know what to call my younger self. It's like, mean to call a child unattractive, but let's say on a scale of 1 to 10, 10 being the cheerleaders and bring it on and 1 being the troll that lives under the bridge. My teenage self was, like, six. And I don't think I'm being mean. I. I mean, I just. I had no concept. I didn't grow up in a house where anyone, like, taught me hair or makeup or any of my older sisters were, like, completely doing their own thing. They were a lot older than me. My parents were fairly absent. I didn't really fall into an interest in any of those things, like beauty or whatever. We couldn't afford it anyway. I don't know if any of you have that story, but, like, we couldn't afford those things, so I just didn't try. I think now with YouTube and everything that exists, it would be easier to figure that stuff out. But as a kid, I didn't know how to do it. And I kind of went to that place of, I don't know how to do this, so therefore it's stupid. I kind of went the other direction. I was like, I feel so uncomfortable with this that I'm gonna wear my hair in a bun, and I'm gonna wear, you know, baggy clothes and flip flops, and that's how I'm gonna go to school. All of this to say that kind of followed me into my early adult life. The first jobs that I had, I just did not know anything. And slowly, over time, you, like, learn some stuff, right? You're like, I can put on mascara or I can buy, But I really have come to what I feel like is my personal glow up later in life. And because, you know, I'm gonna keep it real. There is this meme that has gone around for a decade, and it's rude, but it's accurate. And it says, it shows, like, all of these pictures of celebrities before they became famous and, like, what they look like. And it says, you're not ugly, you're just broke. And I cannot attest to that enough. I absolutely am so much cuter today because I have money to invest in the people who know how to do things to make me look better than I actually do. That it's just true. And obviously, not everybody has it in their budget to get their nails done or have their hair done or whatever. But if you do this, who I want to speak to today is those of you who do have that budget, but don't spend it because you feel awkward or weird or because you don't think you're worth it or because you don't think it matters. You are who I'm preaching to today. I am preaching to the choir with some extra spending money in their beauty budget. That is who I'm preaching to. Yeah, I wasn't into it. Wasn't into it. Didn't know what I was doing. And the very first thing that I remember investing in was eyelash extensions. I would drop my kids off for school in the morning, and there was another mom at the school. This was probably 10, 12 years ago. There was another mom at the school. Her name was Virginia. I will never. Don't know her kid's name. Don't know anything else but shout out to Virginia and her eyelash extensions. And one day I was waiting to pick up the boys, and we were just standing around as you do, and I was like, you have the best eyelashes. And she was like, oh, these are extensions. And I was say, what? What. What do you. Extensions of what? She was like, oh, they're eyelash extensions. Like, I go to this girl and she puts these on my lashes. I was like, what are you talking about? In a totally uncharacteristic move for me, I get the information from Virginia. I. I go get my eyelashes done. This was the gateway drug. This was the opening. This was what I had needed. And I didn't even know it because I do not like to wear makeup. It is not my thing. I am not a glamour girl. I actually hate sitting to have my hair and makeup done. I will do it, obviously, because it looks better if you're going on camera. It's not my favorite thing. But if there is a beauty treatment that allows me to look better without any effort. Your girl first in line. Sign me up. Where am I going? But I didn't know it yet. Went to get lashes done for the first time. Came out of that experience. Sat in the car, looked at myself in the visor mirror, and I was like, this is who I am now. Okay, check. Got it. Now I look like I'm wearing mascara without putting mascara on. This is my new favorite thing. Lashes were first. If you have considered a lash moment, I would like to encourage you to do that. And I had just posted on Instagram in the. There's like, a private group. Private group. It's like a. What do they call it? Broadcast channel on Instagram. And I have one. It's where I share, like, just silly things or whatever. I just had my lashes done, and someone asked how to decide. Like, how do you figure out where you want to go if you've never had them done before. And my advice for you with any kind of beauty treatment that you are interested in is exactly what I did with Virginia, is that you ask if you see someone out in the world and you think, like, her skin looks amazing, her lashes are amazing, her hair is great. Number one, compliment her, because we always need a cheerleading squad. And number two, be like, who does your blank? Who does your browse? Who does your this? Who does your that? Girls love to share information. We love to tell other people where we're going, what we're doing, ask, be on the lookout. And then once she gives you information, go stalk that person on Instagram. Go check out Yelp reviews. Like, I always do extra research. But if you are looking for a referral, you want to get that from somebody who is already going to a place. I would like to add to this from my spiritual perspective. I know you didn't think I was going to go there in this episode. I think that the people who do beauty treatments on us, whether that is like a massage therapist or you're getting your lashes done, you're getting your hair done. These people are up in your personal space. They're up in, like, they are so close to you, they're touching your body. You don't want to go to someone who's bad vibes and bad energy. I don't care how phenomenal you are
at the thing that you do.
If you are bad gross energy, I don't want to be around it. So getting a referral from someone you know, ensures that you're going to get a treatment from someone that they also like. If they're like, I've been going to Patsy for 10 years. You can trust that Patsy's a good egg, and you're going to have a good experience while you're there. So lashes were my first thing. My second thing was hair extensions. I would like to start by saying everybody has a different aesthetic when it comes to hair. I have girlfriends who love a shaved head. Okay. I have girlfriends who have super curly hair. I have friends who would never be caught dead in an extension. I have had extensions for over a decade. I took about nine months off. It was some of the hardest nine months of my life. I did it because everyone was like, oh, you should, you know, let your hair have a rest. It's been so many. No, no, I love them. They love me. I. You know, I don't know what the future looks like, but I feel like extensions are involved. For me personally, I have very, very fine hair. And I mean, If. If I take these extensions out and I put my hair in a ponytail, you guys, it's like the circumference of a dime. You cannot imagine how fine my. And respectfully, to my hair. My hair is super wavy, slash frizzy, so it's, like, very fine. Also, the texture is weird. Also, side note, none of that existed before I had a baby. Can we have a whole other episode and talk about what these babies did to our hair? Because my hair was thick and beautiful anyway. I'll mourn that later. I had this very fine hair. Not a big fan of it. I would go get blowouts. Highly recommend. At the most basic level. Every once in a while, if you're into a good hair day, treat yourself to a blowout. If you can't treat yourself to a blowout, spend the time to figure out how to give yourself a good blowout or, like, to blow it to the exact level that you need to to then sleep on it so that the next day. Personally, for me, I do not care about makeup, but I really care about hair. That's because I was raised Pentecostal. If you know, you know, I would just, like, hair is a huge thing in that community, and it's, like, in me, and I can't get it out. I love good hair. I had super fine hair. Again, very similarly. I didn't know that people got hair extensions to make their hair thicker. I just thought it was for people who wanted long hair. And some young gal on my team years and years ago was like, oh, no, you could totally. You get extensions for that. And then she gave me the Instagram handle of this girl that she followed in la, and that is how I got hair extensions for the first time. And it is the craziest experience of my life. No, that's so dramatic, Rachel. I mean, girl, I'm. You know, it's not the crazy experience, but it is one of the more crazy experiences of my life is getting it done. And I remember going out on the street after it was done and standing there and looking in my phone, and I was like, oh, this is who I am. This is so weird, so surreal. But it was like I had no concept of what I was going to look like with hair extensions. And then when I saw it, I was like, oh, that's future me. And weirdly, I'm realizing this, like, moment of deja vu that I had is so. I'm like, yeah, that was future me. That hair gave me so much confidence. It changed the way that I just. Everything. Everything changed. For me, I am so here for an investment in something that makes you feel more confident in yourself and all of the ways that that's going to benefit you. The amount of questions I've gotten from you guys over the years about how to be more confident and practice more confidence. Literally the easiest hack to confidence in the entire world is to change your look in a way that makes you feel more confident. It's truly. There's all sorts of other things. Yes. Like, I've done a thousand episodes about confidence. Change something about your appearance that makes you feel more confident. You will feel more confident. There's a book called Psycho Cybernetics. It's a. Is it really? No. Yes.
This book is from the 1960s, y'.

I am tripping out. I truly thought that this was a more recent book because it's so popular in self development, but. But essentially, the book is written by a plastic surgeon. In this thing that he observed, which was if he changed the way someone looked, like, even by a tiny bit in, like, if he worked on their face, he did plastic surgery, and he changed the way that they looked. It had these crazy effects on their life. They would see themselves in the mirror, and it changed their behavior. Self image affects your performance. It affects how you show up in the world. Again, doesn't have to be expensive hair extensions, but if there's something that you've experienced, like you had your makeup done for your cousin's wedding, or you got a blowout once, or, like, you have a blazer, that makes you feel great. Guys, build more days around the stuff that makes you feel better. When you look better, you feel better.

areas Lash Extensions were a thing for me Hair extensions were a thing for me let's take hair extensions out of the equation at the very most basic level. If you are someone who goes to a salon to have your hair colored. Now if you're a box color girl, great. If you don't color your hair at all, love that for you. But if you are someone who goes to a salon to have your hair colored, are you going to the best colorist in town? Are you at least going to a good colorist? Has your colors been doing the same color on you for the last 15, 20 years? I'm just saying, like there are options. There might be time. Do you need a highlight? Do you need a low light? Do you need something different? You want to go in a completely different direction? It might be time to change things up. Hair is one of the easiest ways to change all the things that you think about yourself. Big fan of adjusting your hair makeup. Are you a makeup person? Not everybody is. I have girlfriends who would rather die than put a single speck of makeup on their face. They'd actually feel more unattractive if they put makeup on than if they didn't. And this is not about looking any certain way. It's about what you think looks good. What do you think looks good? If you don't know, take a little peruse around Pinterest. Go look at people on Instagram if you need to. What? What jumps out at you? What are you interested in? What do you see? And you're like, oh, that's so cool. And maybe it's really simple. Like, I don't really like makeup, but
I love a bold lipstick.
Or I don't really like makeup, but I love great eyebrows. But I don't really wanna do my eyebrows every day. So maybe I need to find someone who does brows. Like, figure out the stuff that you're into. And you don't have to do everything at once. You could do things a little bit at a time, but my goodness, it makes a difference. I have. Very slowly. It's gotta be 10, 15 years have I learned how to do makeup in a way that feels good to me, how to pencil in my eyebrows, but even something like that. I learned how to pencil in my eyebrows because I got the Anastasia brow kits and they come with stencils. So I literally learned the shape of my eyebrows by putting a stencil on my eyebrow and then coloring it in with a colored pencil. And over time, I didn't need the stencil anymore because I knew how to make the shape. But I will use every sort of trick in the business to get to a place where I can take care of myself. And I just think there's too many women out there who are not investing in their looks because they think it doesn't matter. And it does. It is such an indication of how you are feeling about your life based on how you're showing up for your life. Are you showing up? All right, my next item. Let's talk about some plastic surgery. Look, I told you this is going to be shallow. I'm just giving you the facts. Ladies and gentlemen, here are the facts. Had my boobs done. I think most of you know that I had the. The mommy, whatever it's called. After you breastfeed all the babies and then your nipples are sagging past your knees, and then you get a doctor and they just, you know, they lift them right back up. So I had my boobs done. It's gotta be a decade ago or maybe even a little bit more. And I consider it one of the best decisions I've made. I really do. I have the smallest breast implants that they make, or at least the smallest that they make at the time. I'm. There's all the things. And if you're like, Rachel, would you. I don't even know. I mean, there's people who know way more than I do. And I know there's people who are like, never. I would never put a foreign object in my body. What I love about the world is that we all get to do whatever the heck we want to do. As long as you're not hurting anybody else. Go with God. And I went with God all the Way to the surgeon's table, where they brought my boobs back up to the height that they should be. Big fan of the boob job. Yeah, I've done. I have done whole episodes on that that, you know, you don't need me to talk about it now, but just big fan of it. And then my other thing that I have had done for the last four years is Botox, but it's not. Botox is actually a brand. Everyone calls it Botox when you have. What's it? Injectables. So I don't have Botox. I have dysport, which is the very first time I went to have an injectable in my forehead. I said, I don't know what I'm doing. And the chick was like, okay, here are the options. And she said that she personally liked disport because she thought it lays softer in the face. And I don't know what that means, but I got it. And I've never had anything else, so that's still what I do. I love it. I am so happy when I get to get it done. I work out a lot, so mine doesn't last as long, sadly. But, oh, man, when you have it, it's so good. And I feel like, again, I can't tell anybody what to do. Lots of people have issue with it. Lots of people would never. Like. I'm married to a man who does not. He would never do something. He would never do plastic surgery, would never put anything in his body. He's so healthy. But, oh, well. Like, I do not care. I do not care if people judge me for. I love it so much. So I get it in my forehead, and then I get, like, a little bit around my eyes. I don't get anything underneath. I haven't had any lower in my face. I'm not interested in filler. I've heard so many scary stories about filler. Not interested. I know people have, like, their lips done all those things. I just want the wrinkles. That's all I'm looking for. Just get. Get her smooth is what I. Guys, look again. I'm preaching to a choir. Who has a little extra money to spend, or maybe more than a little. If we're. If we're getting into injectables, here's what I'll say about that. One billion million percent. You do not want to go into this blind. Do not go find some random person in your community to stick a needle in your face. Okay? This is another scenario where you want to ask friends whose work you have Seen that. You're like, okay, that's what I want. You know how I found out even about getting injections? I was getting my hair done. Same person who does my extensions. And I was like, oh, my. Your skin looks amazing.
Who is your esthetician?
And she smiled. She's like, it's not a facial. It's Botox. And I was like, no, yeah, I'm sure you do get it. But like, no, your skin is glowing. She's like, rachel, it is not a facial. It is because I get injectables. And I was like, that's crazy. And now I cannot tell you how often you guys. People on the street will be like, oh, my gosh, your skin's going. And I'm like, thank you. It's Dysport. It's. There's some. It doesn't make sense, but when that's smoothed out, it just makes all of your skin. I don't know why. Maybe some of you actually are estheticians and you can explain it, but, yeah. Cannot recommend it enough. And because it is affecting your face, you have to go to someone that you've seen the work of. If, let's say you don't know anybody in your town and you're looking at some different spots, go stalk their Instagram. And can I just say, as a side note, if you do that, if you're like an esthetician and you do injections, can I encourage you to please post more photos on your social media? As someone who has recently moved to a new place and had to try and find a new person to do this, I am astounded at how many people do this for a living. And they, like, post about the product and they post about a cell and they post this and they show themselves in their figs and they, like, do. It's like, all of this sort of like, nurse aesthetic, but they're. I need a before and after, babe. I need. Don't show me their face. Show me your work, though. Or get some people that you do it for a discount. In order to show before and after, I need the results, and I need those results to be recent. The amount of people who are, like, doing this work and their photos are, like, from the Botox website or the Dysport website or whatever, I'm like, that's not your work. This matters. Because if someone goes in and puts too much, that's how you end up looking crazy. That's how you're like someone from a TV show who can't lift their eyebrows up. You need someone who understands what are your goals and how are they going to help you get there. And with injectables, you could always get more, right? If you do like a little bit, you're charged by the amount that you get in your face. So you could always get a little bit, see how you feel about it. And then you're like, oh, okay, that wasn't so bad. Now I'll get some more.

I've had a few different people over the years. I had someone in Austin, I had someone in la, and now I have someone in New York. And you also want to go to people who they've been in the game for a long time. Like you just. You don't want to get some newbie. I have a friend who lives in a small town and went and got Botox or whatever from like whoever was in the small town. And they were telling me all this stuff about getting their Botox and what it would be. And I was like, that's not. No, that's. What are you talking about? It was just so. I was like, I've been in a lot of places in major cities. It just made me scared for what happens if you're with someone who doesn't know what they're doing. So again, doesn't have to be for you. But if you are someone who has considered it, just do some research, see who's around. I have found in the beauty industry, when you get with a professional, they are so happy to do a consultation, they're so happy to explain it to you. They are used to clients who don't know what the process is and they're like so happy to walk you through it. And if someone makes you feel weird for asking questions or makes you uncomfortable, you do not want that person working on you. Whatever it is, hair, lashes, any of it. You do not want that person working on you. Manicures, pedicures. Maybe this is the year you get the acrylic nail. Maybe this is the year that you get your acrylic nails off. Maybe you start experimenting with color. Maybe you just treat yourself to a foot massage because it feels really amazing. And when you feel better, you look better. See what I did there? When you look better, you feel better and when you feel better, you look better. It's weird, but it's true. What are some things. Is it tattoos? Is this your era of tattoos? You want to get a tattoo? You could have a tattoo by tonight. Like you could go do anything. It's your body. This is your one life. What are you going to do with it? If this is the era of feeling hotter, feeling better in your body, can I also put a little nudge in?
Let's get a tan.
Let's get a tan now. Lots of opinions about this. There are people who love the sun. I'm one of them. There are people who hate the sun and think it's the devil. Even those sun hating people get a spray tan, get some self tanner, get that lotion that makes you look tan as you go. That Jurgens lotion. There's probably like cooler ones now. Get something. Let's get a little color on that skin, babe. Everybody looks better when they have a little color on their skin. You are gonna think that you lost ten pounds and you're back at your college weight when you got A little color on your skin. Like, just get a little. Mm. These are. These are these things that so many of us are taught we only do at special occasions. Your life is a special occasion. Your life is a special occasion. If you've been feeling stuck, if you've been feeling down, if you've been feeling like what's the point? If you've been feeling like it's so hard, like you need some more joy. Is this your spray tan era? I don't know, but I'd love for you to find out. It's not going to hurt. What's it going to hurt? Assuming that you can afford it. Because I do not believe in spending money we can't afford. Assuming you have a budget to do something. Like whatever I've said today, I guarantee that 98% of you have a thing you've been considering. If you're still here in this conversation. For sure, there's some beauty treatment that you have been considering, but you haven't pulled the trigger on, even though you can afford it. Some people don't do it because they're scared the majority of you will not have done it because you have told yourself you're not that kind of girl. I'm using air quotes. I'm not that. That's for her. I'm not that kind of. I'm not the kind of girl who gets a tattoo. I'm not the kind of girl who gets hair extensions. I'm not the guy. You are whoever you decide to be. You are whoever you decide to be today. You have a whole life left to live. A whole freaking life. You're going to spend it doing the same stuff you've been doing for two decades. Come on, man. At least go see who's in your town. At least go see what your options are. Oh, because you're not that kind of girl. You are whatever kind of girl you decide to be today. Is this your hair extension era? Is this the year that you start wearing clothes that fit? Okay, let's just turn our attention to your closet. How are you supposed to have a hot girl summer if none of your clothes fit you and you're wearing a bra that's 15 years old? I don't want to wear a bra either. But you better believe if I'm wearing a bra, if I'm out, if it's date night, you better believe I'm wearing a bra. You know what I mean? If you are not going into your closet and feeling excited about what you're going to put on your body, we need to do some editing. We need to go and have a Marie Kondo moment. And if it's not sparking joy, we need to donate it or sell it or get rid of it so that we can make space for this new version of ourselves. One of the coolest things about European culture, I'm talking like French culture, Italian women, is they have like six great pieces. Now, I'm certain that some of them are super wealthy and have all kinds of clothes, but the average European woman invests in great pieces that she wears over and over and over. It is such an American culture to have this, like, fast fashion, always pulling in new stuff, always trying new trends. No, these women have classic pieces that they have tailored to their bodies that fit them well, that they were over and over and over. And it's not an embarrassment that they're re wearing a piece. It's like part of their style. You need to have at least one bottom and one top in your closet that you put on and feel like a million bucks. I don't care who you are, you better have at least. I want it to be more. But at least one thing, top and bottom that you can put on to make a whole outfit that you feel great in. And if you don't, we need to put this on our North Star vision board asap. We, we need this in the plan. We need this on our results list, which, speaking of, I recorded the next Deep Dive episode and I'm so pumped about it. Literally has nothing to do with what I'm talking to you about. Comes out the first Monday of every month. I do a Deep Dive episode on a certain topic, like something that I know a ton about and can really teach you and go deep on the next one. Coming out for June 1st Monday of June, which is June 1st, is productivity. Like how to design your day to be the most productive version of yourself to achieve the goals that you want to achieve without destroying yourself in the process. Both of these things are very important if you are into a deep dive. If you're like, I want a class. These are like video classes. They're not just audio, video and audio, but plus a workbook one time a month. Premium podcast subscribers only. It's $10 a month. If you can afford Botox or hair extensions, you can afford Premium podcasts. It's $10 a month. You get the Deep Dive episode. You get every single episode of the show ad free. You never have to listen to another ad again. It's, I think, the greatest bang for your buck on the Planet Next episode is coming out first Monday in June. You get all the podcasts we've ever done. It's awesome. Community's great. If you are interested in that, check out the link in the show description. It'll say, like, premium. You can go read all about it. But yeah, the next one that's coming out is all about productivity and getting the results that you want. And maybe the result that you want is that you need to overhaul your closet. And that doesn't mean that you need to go do like a full shopping trip. The amazing. If you can afford it. But maybe it's like, I'm going to bring in one great piece. One great piece. You can get that one great piece on ebay, dude. You can go to the Goodwill. It does not have to ca. But, like, it's the intention behind it. All of these things. To me, your hotness era is your intention. It's you deciding that you are worth feeling beautiful. Whatever that looks like to you. Whatever that looks like to you. If you are single and you don't feel gorgeous, I promise you that you are radiating that. When you go out into the world, if you are in a relationship and you don't feel the sexiness, you don't feel excited, you don't feel, you know, this vibration with your partner, I freaking promise you, you enter your hot era, whatever that is. You're like 65 and this is your hot era. Let's go. I promise you your partner is gonna love it. Absolutely love it. Because when you feel hot, you feel sexy. And when you feel sexy, you have more sex. You didn't think we were going there, but remember, it's our coffee date, so we can. Who doesn't want to have more sex if you say you. If you don't want to have more sex, that's a whole other episode. We should talk about that. There's some things we should look at. You shouldn't have some blood work done, or maybe you're with someone who doesn't turn you on. I don't know. But I know if there are two scenarios here, just do this with me for a second. There's two scenarios in your life, Becky. There's two. One is that you hate the way you look, and the other is that you think you're pretty hot. Like, literally nothing else about your life changes. But in one scenario, you. Every time you look in the mirror, you hate the way you look. And in the other scenario, you get brainwashed. Someone, like magic wand, something happens. And every time you look in the Mirror. You think you're super hot. Which one do you think is happier? Which one's more audacious? Which one's going after the promotion at work? Which one has the courage to go up to the girl at the bar and ask her for her number? In every scenario, the hotness is gonna win. I am speaking as someone. Like I said at the beginning of this conversation, I do not think of myself as hot.
But I like this idea for all of us.
It's better than, like, if we say, oh, I want to be beautiful, or, oh, I want to be gorgeous. It's like, this more. I don't know. There's something about it that feels more, like, appropriate for women our age. And I think the audacity of saying, like, I'm gonna be my version of hot. I'm gonna feel great in my own skin. I'm gonna be at a higher vibration. Feels great for us guys. Feels great for all of us. My last little piece of advice here is whatever you're working with, show off the best thing. This is something you can do today without investing one single dollar. Every single person on this planet has one thing on their body that they feel like is the best thing. If you feel like you are Gumby and there is nothing attractive about your body, but I came up to you and I forced you to pick one thing that is the best thing on your body. You could be like, it's my knees, it's my elbows. Doesn't matter. If I force you to come up with something, you could. So whatever your best feature is, at the very least, invest in that. Meaning put time into that, put intention into that. I was thinking about my first boss when I was 15 years old. I worked at the Substation downtown, which was a sandwich shop that was owned by my friend's mom. And my friend's mom shout out to Maria had fabulous legs. She maybe still does. I haven't seen her in years. She probably still rocking some beautiful gams. She wasn't tall and the legs were, like, unexpectedly fantastic. I don't know if it's because she was on her feet all day. I don't know if she's, like, constantly running around, running this shop. She just had really great legs. And Maria, I remember, was older than, like, my mom or other moms. My friend was her youngest, and she had some older kids. And that is only relevant because Maria loved a.
A mini skirt moment.
Maybe not a mini skirt.
She'd probably be like, girl, it wasn't a mini skirt.
She loved a short skirt. She would be working at the substation downtown, making you the best turkey sandwich you ever had in your life. And she'd be in a short skirt with an apron on and some wedge sandals to show off those gams. She knew that her legs were her feature, and she wore clothes that featured her legs as often as she could. What's your thing? What's your life? You got a little. Is there a little cleavage moment for you in the future? Is it your eyes? Is it, you know, your collarbone? Is it? Your arms are looking great. Find the thing that you think is your best thing and just put energy and vibes into showing that off. It's gonna make you feel better because you're seeing yourself and you're giving yourself credit and you're seeing worth in who you are. This is not about what anyone else thinks of you. We don't give a crap what anyone else thinks of how you look. But if you go around and you're feeling good and you're feeling hot and you're feeling like, high vibes and, like, life and energy and whatever, I promise you guys, everything else is gonna feel better. And that's what I'm thinking this week. And I hope this wasn't too weird of a podcast episode for y'. All. You'll let me know? You'll either listen to it or you won't. But either way, I will be back again on Thursday with another conversation. Until then, as always, I love you and I'm rooting for you.

Podcast: The Rachel Hollis Podcast
Host: Rachel Hollis
Episode: 961 | Have You Considered... Getting Hot?
Date: May 25, 2026
Rachel Hollis explores the bold and sometimes “superficial” idea of intentionally investing in your appearance—what she playfully terms: “getting hot.” She frames the episode as a candid coffee date with listeners, questioning why so many people, especially women, hesitate to prioritize or spend money on their own beauty, confidence, and style. With humor, honesty, and practical suggestions, Rachel discusses the transformative power of beauty rituals, self-image upgrades, and small or big changes to elevate self-confidence, explicitly stating this episode is a lighter, “vapid” departure from her usual deep dives. The central theme: You get to decide what “hot” means for you—and you’re worth the effort.
Rachel wraps by championing the power of simply deciding: “I like this idea for all of us...It’s the audacity of saying: I’m gonna be my version of hot.” (43:06)
