Kid Fury
One crunchy bite of a Hershey's cookies and cream bar and I'm taken right back to college. Move in. Day I was a little overwhelmed by the newness of it all.
Crissle West
Boxes were everywhere.
Kid Fury
I needed a break from unpacking. But just as I was able to take a breath and open my Hershey's cookies and cream bar, my new roommate Rachel walked in. I offered her a piece, but she said no. Then after a beat, she said, actually, those are my favorite ones. We left, the ice was broken, and we've been friends ever since. Hershey's. It's your happy place.

Welcome back to the show, everybody. Out at home and in the Internet and in the world wide web. I am Erica Alexander.
Kid Fury
And I am Coco Jones. And this is the read. Thank you for joining us.
Crissle West
Damn right it is. And thank you indeed. Welcome back for another year of NIG. We're wrapping up May here in God's 2026. Let's get things started with some black excellence, shall we? You already know how it goes here. And I'm going to be passing over black excellence today to one Dr. Candace Matthews and Quanell X, who were both spotted confronting an attorney named Michael Phillips after he reportedly used the nigger slur. Oh. In a child custody case. In the courtroom, old white man, you know, looks battered and bruised and half dead, obviously. And the nerve. And this black man and woman stopped and confronted this man directly in the hall and basically dared. No, not basically literally dared him to say the word again. Into their black adult faces. That man said, I bet you won't say it. I dare you to say it right now. I will make you taste the ancestors.
Kid Fury
Oh, wow.
Crissle West
I said, well, I'm not mad at that. Adding that one to the. The Rolodex of fun black things to say. Yeah. So shout out to black folk out here still foot to the pavement, doing the best we can for rights, because, you know, RIP America. Yeah, it's incredibly played out. The United States of America is a foam posit at this point. Like, why do we. Who. Why is that even a thing? It should be done. We should have put that left in the past. I just feel like, you know, the American dynasty just might be running to its end.
Kid Fury
Yeah.
Crissle West
And it seems like this is an empire that is finally crumbling. But in the good, in the positive sense, we have black excellence. No, no, I did that. We have hot tops to keep us afloat.
Kid Fury
Mm.
Crissle West
Nothing like some positivity there. Lizzo was spotted putting up her own posters for her latest album, which I think comes out on June 5. She posted on her Instagram, since my label won't promote the album or put up posters for my album, I'll do it myself. So she was just spotted in LA putting up her own album posters.
Kid Fury
I mean, okay, Cardi was selling bootlegs or something. She was doing something. Remember, she came to New York and she was selling on the sidewalk promoting that album. And so. Yeah, I mean, I'm not. If she's not getting label support, that's. That's one thing. I don't know what the label is pouring into the marketing efforts for her album, but as far as artists, like, actually getting out there and doing some of that promo stuff themselves, I mean, that you doing it probably brings more attention to the album than if the street team had did it, so.
Crissle West
Exactly. I'm not really daring, unfortunately. That has to be like, oh, let me go and take this into my own hands, since my fucking record label doesn't do it.
Kid Fury
Right.
Crissle West
But I agree that it is. It's actually really endearing. And, yeah, I think it would get more eyes in ears on your project anyway.
Kid Fury
Yep.
Crissle West
So if you have to go and brave the heat. Actually, it's not that hot out here right now.
Kid Fury
Must be nice.
Crissle West
Okay, so Duran was on a podcast where he mentioned being blocked by Tank at some point, and Tank apparently heard about this and decided to respond to him on Twitter by saying, I don't know you to dislike you. What I do know is that you're incredibly talented. What you don't know is that I support and defend you, but we'll save that for later. If I did block you, it was because you were talking shit. At least be honest.
Kid Fury
Oh.
Crissle West
Not long after that, I saw Duran post the photo of them. Both of them on FaceTime, laughing together.
Kid Fury
Oh, okay.
Crissle West
Talking about music possibly being on the way. Something about Tank's comment gave me P O N K.
Kid Fury
It gave you what?
Crissle West
Go ahead. P O, N K. Oh, okay.
Kid Fury
I thought you said P L N K. And I was like, what the fuck does that stand for? Oh, right, Okay. I guess I was about to say, why would. I thought this was about to start? Like I thought you was gonna say. And then Duran responded and now the girls are going at it. But I'm glad to see that they, like, you know, called each other. Right, And. And took care of it that way. The. The more mature way. But. Huh. Interesting. I actually would like to hear a. A collaboration between the two of them. So I'm not mad if that's where this is going, but, I mean, maybe two things can be true. I don't. I don't know, obviously, whether Tank, you know, really does defend Duran in private or whatever, but it's possible that Duran said something shady or liked something shady about Tank and so he got blocked for that or, you know, something else like, who knows? The Internet can be a messy, weird place.
Crissle West
You know, most of this, the stuff this week has been, at least from my perspective, very light. I haven't found very much to that I'm interested in talking about because everything has been about Drake's albums. I feel like everything is Drake.
Kid Fury
And
Crissle West
I have to be perfectly honest with you, no opinion when I tell you I don't have a thought because I have not listened to any of it.
Kid Fury
Oh, wow. Okay.
Crissle West
I have not heard Drake's albums, but I have heard the clips. Get it? Yeah, I get it. So here's the thing. It's not even on the, like, Hate Train. Whatever. I have an attention disorder. You're not going to drop three albums. And then I'm like, oh, yeah, let me dive in. If Missy Elliot dropped three albums today, I would break them up in three days. Yeah, I cannot do it.
Kid Fury
Right.
Crissle West
That's one, too. We've already discussed not being super enthused about his albums because we haven't been moved or shook by anything since Scorpion. Right?
Kid Fury
And even that was barely there for me.
Crissle West
So now when I see he's dropped 78 songs and many of his own fans are like, well, I like four I can't. I'm not going to be in a rush to go listen to this.
Kid Fury
Yeah.
Crissle West
And a lot of the coverage of, you know, the messiest, stickiest lines have also made me go, I don't know. Ho. Have you listened to any of it? Do you have any?
Kid Fury
I have. I. God, unfortunately, I did press play. I started with maid of Honor and
Crissle West
he heard, that's the best one.
Kid Fury
Yeah. And that's a damn shame because I.
Crissle West
It.
Kid Fury
I do think it's the best one. Now, I. But when I tell you, I'm also the type where if the sound of the song is getting on my nerves, I will not finish it. I will skip right through it, so.
Crissle West
Oh, that's most of us.
Kid Fury
Yeah. So I can't even say that I actually listened to all three projects in full because overall, I felt like Drake is just trying to get out of his contract. Like, there are some good songs. There are some, you know, if I hear them this summer, like, make them Cry is good. I like the, The Pop can song or Popcorn, if I'm saying that wrong.
Crissle West
He's good either way.
Kid Fury
You know, there's. There's some here where it's like the, the. The Michael Jackson. The one that's obviously Michael Jackson inspired. It's like a Drake. Yeah, there's. There's some where I'm like, yes, if I hear this in at the bar, the club this summer, yes, I will listen to this or I'll bop to it. But overall, it just felt like Drake putting a bunch of shit together so that he can hurry up and try to fulfill this contract with. With UMG and be done with them, like. And that's pretty much what I expected of him. He's been suing them and going back and forth and alleging all this about them, you know, over the past couple of years. So, yeah, it's not. I wouldn't say it's great. Some of it is passable, but overall, he could have kept it. Like, I wouldn't say that musically this was really doing anything.
Crissle West
And I read today there were reports that it's quote unquote complicated whether or not these three albums would even go towards. Oh, God, you know, what he's looking for for his contract. I don't know if that's true or not, but with the mess of everything, there are reports right now that this might not even work towards what I think he's, you know, trying to do. If those. If the idea that you just mentioned is true, which many, many, many people have suggested. Well, and it makes sense.
Kid Fury
I mean, that would be a damn shame that you put out two albums. One that's kind of okay. All at the same time, mind you. Like, this is legit. Like 70 something tracks or whatever. Like, you put all this out at the same time and it didn't even accomplish the goal. Like, that would be a shame if that's where we ended up here. But, you know, for me, I just don't think. I don't think Drake is ever gonna go back to what got him to this level of popularity. I don't think he's ever gonna go back to that sound or, you know, this is an overgrown man child who really needs to get his shit together and grow the fuck up. And I don't think that's gonna happen. So I pressed play because I knew it would come up on this show, but I did not enjoy myself. No, I did not. I will not be doing that again. Same reason I tried to watch the same reason I tried to watch the Roast of Kevin Hart. Ugh, God.
Crissle West
Another thing we would have never talked. Girl, don't subject yourself to some of these things if you don't want to. It is okay to just come on and be like, I took no part in it because I didn't want to.
Kid Fury
Well, I saw the clip of Katt Williams and everybody said this was the best part of the rose. And it was pretty funny, Katt Williams dragging that nigga. Because Katt Williams actually seemed like, you know, like he meant the things he was saying, first of all. And secondly, when Kevin was like, you know, first of all, I hate that Netflix gave Kevin a mic because this is not supposed to be a back and forth like you not supposed to.
Crissle West
He had a mic the whole time?
Kid Fury
Yes. He got to chime in after everybody's rose. What the fuck, right? It was so annoying. So I hated that Kevin even had a mic. But I also felt like that moment at the end where he and Kat, where he was like, you know, it's been a lot of strife with this man over the years, but, you know, cat's a legend. It's all love, you know, dap me up, nigga, whatever. I felt like that was very much like he just went along with it. But he like, nigga, we are not cool. And you know that. So I went back, tried to watch it. Shane Gillis was the host. I said, I am not going.
Crissle West
That kept me from it. Anyway, I'm not going to last long.
Kid Fury
Um, yeah. And I didn't.
Crissle West
You know who told me about that? Katt Williams part.
Kid Fury
Mm.
Crissle West
My fucking therapist.
Kid Fury
Wow. Work therapist.
Crissle West
And it was specifically because of that part that you just mentioned.
Kid Fury
Oh, okay.
Crissle West
Like, there was moments towards the end where Kevin tried to, like, make amends and so on and so on. And Katt Williams is very clearly not interested in being friends.
Kid Fury
Yeah.
Crissle West
Like, for the sake of the time and the moment and the direction, like, all right.
Kid Fury
Yeah.
Crissle West
That was like, hmm. Katt Williams was there.
Kid Fury
Yeah.
Crissle West
Maybe I'll take a peek at that. And I was like, I'll just watch the Cat Williams part in the Regina hall part, because I know she's gonna make me laugh, and I wanna hear what Katt Williams has to say.
Kid Fury
And that's really all you need. No shade. I mean, I like Chelsea Handler, but other than that, you really. You do not need to sit through three hours of. Three. Yes. You do not need to sit through that. You do plus one. That's the same number. Yes. Yes. You do not need what? Through 2 hours and 51 minutes of that? You do not. I said, damn. This is actually.
Crissle West
Okay, this is bad. See, this is what I'm talking about. I'm so glad I didn't watch this, because why would I do that? They gave this nigga a microphone. What kind of roast is that? Every roast I've seen in my 40, 38 years being here has been the exact same thing. You sit down, they roast you. You have to take it.
Kid Fury
Yes.
Crissle West
And then the last person who speaks is usually them, Right?
Kid Fury
No, Kevin.
Crissle West
And that's the only time I said,
Kid Fury
oh, my God, this is so annoying.
Crissle West
Oh, that sounds insufferable. That sounds absolutely wretched. I'm so glad I watched it.
Kid Fury
Exactly that it was.
Crissle West
But I saw a clip of Regina saying something about Michael Clark Duncan being something about Green Mile and her pussy. Like, I don't remember how that joke went, but she said something about he'd been having his Green Mile deep in this pussy for something. Something. I just saw a clip of that, and that's how I knew she was on it. And that's when I went, okay, I will go watch this, because Regina hall doesn't even have to try to be funny. You remember that time during the flooding out here where Kevin Costner won an Emmy and she was reading from the. I think it was the Emmy.
Kid Fury
Oh, yes.
Crissle West
I do remember this teleprompter. And she was just making joke the whole time. And so when she's reading that he was. She had to stay in place because of the flooding. Her face was like, he has to shelter in oh, in Santa Barbara, girl. It was like, as she survived.
Kid Fury
That was so funny.
Crissle West
That was hilarious.
Kid Fury
Yeah. Yeah.
Crissle West
So she doesn't have to try. I will. I will check that out, though. I'm just like, you know what? In this crisis of my midlife, every second feels precious.
Kid Fury
Yeah.
Crissle West
There's a things I could do with my time.
Kid Fury
And you should. There's a white man making a George Floyd joke that's not even remotely funny. Okay. Yeah, I. I cut it off before I even got to that, man. Like, no, I. I went back and tried to watch the whole thing, thinking maybe there was something for. It's way too many white people there. I said, this is not even real. This is just whoever Netflix could. Could get to show up and, you know, fit the budget or whatever. Like, a real roast of Kevin Hart would have had way more niggas present.
Crissle West
So, yeah, I will go check that out. Maybe follow up with my opinion on that. I suppose I will listen to these. Drake. I mean, I intended to. I'm not going to hold you. I wanted to like to hear them anyway. I fully intended on pressing play, and then they were like, surprise. It's a trilogy. And I was like, girl, I don't even go watch Mortal Kombat 2. Don't. Don't rush me.
Kid Fury
Right? Three albums is a lot. That's what I'm saying. As soon as I was like, ugh, I'm annoyed by this, I was like, schnect, we're going. Right? Like, I didn't give it the attention I would give it if I was reviewing the music. You know, it's not like now we already know Beyonce put out three albums. Yes. I'm shutting everything down. I'm canceling all my appointments, and I'm diving in. Yes. But that is a Beyonce exclusive. Like, nobody else gets that treatment. Like, nobody.
Crissle West
If she drops three albums, oh, the hype would die. I won't listen to them all in one day. I promise you. I'm not.
Kid Fury
I am. I am.
Crissle West
I won't. I just. At best, I will listen to one of them, come back hours later. My attention span will not allow me to just sit there and listen to three hours of music. I can't. On top of the fact that I get too distracted while I'm listening to music, I often get very distracted as I'm listening to music anyway, because I'll play music as I'm washing the dishes or doing something. Something. And next thing you know, I'm like, oh, I didn't really listen to that song. So Then I have to go back. My attention span just does not work with this. That's Beyonce. I will make that work. Misty Elliott. I will make that work. Ray. I will make that work. Samara Joy. I will make that work. Drake. When the outlets are already like, listen, I'm not doing it, all right? I'm going to just be incredibly honest
Kid Fury
for outlet.
Crissle West
Don't love it. Like, there's a quite a few in the cult that, you know, leaving emojis under Rihanna's pictures and all kinds of wild.
Kid Fury
Oh, yeah, the stuff about asap, Rocky and your girl didn't even post your album or whatever. Like, what? Who the fuck cares? She don't want you, bro. She dabbed on stage
Crissle West
when you profess
Kid Fury
right in your face.
Crissle West
You're pissed, Goose.
Kid Fury
Still, ma'. Am.
Crissle West
Still seething. Seething.
Kid Fury
You can't talk about nobody's baby mama, bro. You can't talk about. Keep it very cute when it comes to baby mamas.
Crissle West
I was just about to say that lady got three kids with her man that she just went to the Met gala with. Whatever the fuck you want to say, right?
Kid Fury
You can't do it.
Crissle West
You got bullied into premiering your baby with this bitch. You can't stand Stone. You see what I'm saying?
Kid Fury
Yeah. Yeah.
Crissle West
It's like all the little branches that have come my way since I've postponed this listening session have made me push it back even further. Cause I'm like, this is the kind of crying and whining he got coming on here. I saw a reviewer say that a lot of it is just him reacting to the past two years.
Kid Fury
Yep.
Crissle West
And critique of his music and personality for, like, the bulk of all of this music is just him kind of being not just frustrated, but, like, scorned or whatever. I'm like, we've already discussed that, and I'm glad that we've acknowledged this prior to the Kendrick thing, because a lot of the outlets are like, oh, we jump. Trying to act like we're jumping on some bandwagon. It's like, no. This has been criticism of his music long before that happened.
Kid Fury
Very true, very true. This is just, you know, the biggest that it got. But it is a lot of. I mean, don't get me wrong, it's still classic Drake. I'm rich. I got money. I got all these cars. I got all these houses, all these homes. There's plenty of that. But there's also like, damn, so many people love me. So many people hate me. It's crazy to be me. Like, See, like that. That's like. Okay, simmer down.
Crissle West
Like, it don't say something that you gotta address 65 niggas over this fucking three albums that you're like, oh, you let me down so bad. I thought we were better than this.
Kid Fury
Yeah.
Crissle West
But I think you're right. It's Drake. He's gonna have a bop or two. I'm gonna do the exact same thing where I'll just. I'll give it probably 30 to 45 seconds top. All right, what else you got? I can't listen to all that.
Kid Fury
Yeah. And you know, if it's good. If a song is good, you will hear it anyway. Like, when.
Crissle West
All right.
Kid Fury
With. Almost said Nokio with Nokia. When I remember. I mean, and I. I remember Shariel being like, it's the one good song on that album. And. And it is. It's the one that I ended up hearing like, who's calling my phone? Who's calling that shit like that. It's catchy.
Crissle West
Yeah, me too.
Kid Fury
I like that. But I never. I couldn't tell you any other songs on that record, I don't think, because they just. They're not gonna make it that far. Whichever one came out a couple years
Crissle West
ago, was that the one with him Party Next Door?
Kid Fury
I think so, yeah. Drake, Nokia. That is on some sexy songs for you.
Crissle West
Yeah,
Kid Fury
that was just last year. Yuck.
Crissle West
That song's so sexy.
Kid Fury
Okay. Oh, that's Valentine's Day. Yeah.
Crissle West
No, yeah, I. Yeah, I'll give it a. A gander. I already know that I'm skipping over this allegedly Sexy Red song.
Kid Fury
Yeah. Gonna let that go. I mean, it's.
Crissle West
It's.
Kid Fury
Every time I see that, I just. Like, when I see you stand by Sexy Red, I believe you see two bad. Like, it's just automatically what I think of when I see Drake and Sexy Red. Like, damn, Kendrick really clocked the out of you, bro.
Crissle West
I believe you see. Too bad.
Kid Fury
God, that was so funny. God, that was so funny.
Crissle West
Oh, that was so much fun. That entire. It was fun.
Kid Fury
Had a good time.
Crissle West

Alex Brew. Bru Hadia. What is this man's name? Trump's advisor. One of Donald Trump's advisors addressed or attempted to address the iconic Linda Perry of 4 Non Blondes, who's one of the latest people to address Nicki Minaj's Donald Trump support when asked. And she, like many of us, said it seems like she said it seems that she wanted something from the office and was trying to maybe help herself. A friend, boyfriend, whatever. Everyone has said this. So Mr. Alex of MAGA said, this is a disgusting and disgraceful smear that every Democrat and Trump critic is spreading about at Nicki Minaj. Nikki has never once asked the president for anything. She has only offered assistance and support. The insinuation that she's looking for anything in return is total garbage. Thoughts?
Kid Fury
Well, that's worse.
Crissle West
Thank you. That's exactly what I was gonna say. Worse if true, dummy.
Kid Fury
Right? So you doing it for the love of the. Of the hate. Yikes.
Crissle West
Like, girl, first of all, you and everybody you know over there is a lie, right?
Kid Fury
Like, all y' all bitches, all y' all do is lie. First of all, first of all, if
Crissle West
you said the McRib was back, I would know it was true.
Kid Fury
I'm a googlypert.
Crissle West
Bitches lie about everything. So excuse me.
Kid Fury
Yeah.
Crissle West
If I don't believe this, but that was the first thing that came to my mind, too. If this is true, that's way worse.
Kid Fury
That's way worse. You're not getting nothing for this. You tap dancing and cooning for this. Who's rounding up immigrants right fucking now for the love of the game. No, I. I do hope they're paying off your lawsuits and your mortgage and your. Your amex that that man takes and. And does whatever he wants to with while you passed out. Allegedly. Whatever Cardi said, like, I hope you're getting something out of it. It would be a damn shame if
Crissle West
you're not maybe becoming a citizen or
Kid Fury
you can do that without kissing Trump's ass. You can.
Crissle West
Does she know that?
Kid Fury
She should.
Crissle West
There's no way that this lady walked out at Kirklemania with all them pyrotechnics and shit like that and was just like, I'll just take the Nature Valley granola bar back here. You don't have to worry about anything else, sis.
Kid Fury
Girl, Beat It Mania is the craziest shit I have ever heard.
Crissle West
Yeah, I just. That was off the dump.
Kid Fury
Yeah.
Crissle West
Yeah, lady, stop lying. Whatever happened to March 30 or whatever the fuck. Remember? It was like, yeah,
Kid Fury
when? Right when was it? Right after Cardi's album came out or right after.
Crissle West
I feel like it was right after
Kid Fury
she announced yes or the tour or something. Nicki was like, March 16th. Barbs or whatever, and then immediately walked it back like, I'm not giving y' all nothing. Cause you don't deserve it, girl. Right.
Crissle West
Left them bone dry, starving.
Kid Fury
Yep, yep, yep. And that's where they gonna remain.
Crissle West
Well, you know, I. I think you already hit the. The nail on the head there for me. It's like you were better off just not saying no because, A, we don't believe you, right? B, this is not the PR stunt you think it is.
Kid Fury
She believes in Donald Trump and his policies. And when Donald Trump laughs at the cost of gas and groceries for Americans, Nicki Minaj laughs with them. And you know why? Because broke people should never laugh. Like, that's what y' all sound like. You're not making it any better for her.
Crissle West
When our president wakes up in the morning and eats his British baked beans, it's Nicki Minaj, that farce.
Kid Fury
And she does it because she loves the president and she loves this country, okay?
Crissle West
She farts for free. We don't have to give her.
Kid Fury
She really shouldn't. She should be getting a couple million out of this. Bare minimum. She's a real. Like, she's much. I've never thought Nicki Minaj was stupid. She's much dumber than I thought if she's doing this for free.
Crissle West
Exactly. Yeah, exactly. You won't even do a feature for free, right? Why the fuck would you?
Kid Fury
You're gonna throw away so much of your fan base and the shit you've claimed to care about and stand for for this man for nothing in return. Oh, I pray not lying to us.
Crissle West
Yeah, you could have just ignored that, right?
Kid Fury
And should have.
Crissle West
Actually, Sweetie's getting. Sweetie has a lawsuit for $3 million for allegedly canceling or skipping out a whole bunch of Japan shows touring. No concert promoter says that they gave her a hundred thousand dollar deposit and hear from her ass again.
Kid Fury
So how we get the 3 million
Crissle West
moon dream production filed lawsuit? Fraud breach contract. They said they had a deal with her to perform across a couple of places in Japan. Four. Four performances between July 18th and July 26th.
Kid Fury
Mm.
Crissle West
They say that she confirmed she performed at all four shows for $200,000. Half of that was reportedly paid to her up front. Then Saweetie allegedly failed to appear for any of the performances. But they say what Happened next was the company claimed it helped secure visa services for Sweetie and her team so they could enter Japan only for the rapper to allegedly perform at other venues for two.
Kid Fury
No.
Crissle West
During the exact dates that she had already committed to.
Kid Fury
No, Sweetie say it ain't so.
Crissle West
Well, now they're. Yeah, they're hitting her with fraud. Breach of contract. Now. Yeah. I don't know how that gets up to 3 million.
Kid Fury
That's.
Crissle West
But I'm sure many in a turn. Yep, there you go. The suit is also seeking $3 million in punitive living.
Kid Fury
There we go. There we go. Because I'm like, there's no way y' all lost out on $3 million. Cause Sweetie didn't show up. No Shade diamante. But I knew that wasn't true. So, yeah, girl, they had to just.
Crissle West
Thank you.
Kid Fury
You can be expect. I think they can be expected to get half a million at the most out of this. Their deposit back, plus the. The anticipated or projected profits that they said they missed out on. But having them people secure visas for you and then not showing up today. Shows is crazy. Baby, please tell me y' all didn't do that.
Crissle West
That is diabolical. If true. If that is true, what would.
Kid Fury
Who is in charge? Right? Y'. All. Did y' all think that people was just gonna be like, oh, well, she just didn't show up. No biggie.
Crissle West
But she's in the country after we helped her, and she's performing over at these other people's functions.
Kid Fury
Right? And you going to the club and shit. You doing shows. Oh, no, no, ma'. Am.
Crissle West
You know what it gives me? The little TJ boy who said he offset all that money, and then he was in the strip club making it. Oh, I'm sorry. Wait a minute.
Kid Fury
Not with my dollars. You are. They said, oh, no. We worked with the. With the Japanese government to get your ass over here. And then you just decided you weren't showing up to the gig. Oh.
Crissle West
Have you heard anything about our. Our country's immigration laws? We just don't.
Kid Fury
You either are born here or you're fucked, and that's it. So why would you play?
Crissle West
There's a reason everybody here. Oh, we have five babies a week. Five babies a year.
Kid Fury
Oh, man.
Crissle West
Well, what the fuck did you think he was over here doing? Playing a game?
Kid Fury
I don't. I don't. Who. Who made that decision for her? I. God, you gotta fire somebody, baby. That was horrible. Horrible decision making.
Crissle West
Yeah. Whichever one of your icy constituents thought that that was a good idea.
Kid Fury
It's Bad. It's not. It's not working out.
Crissle West
It's. It's not looking great. It's also not looking the best for one Clarissa Shields, at least if she's interested in attending another event by mvp. Apparently, Most Valuable Promotions has banned Clarissa Shields from attending any of their upcoming sporting events, at least for the foreseeable future, until further. A further notice, they say. And this happens as a result of Clarissa and Alicia Baumgartner getting into a verbal altercation at an event. I think this was at the Ronda Rousey fight.
Kid Fury
Oh, yes, I heard about that. I heard it was over very quickly.
Crissle West
Yeah, yeah, it was. Yikes. But the two of them were caught on video arguing back and forth. I heard Clarissa saying, like, worry about who you fucking, not me. Or. Or worry about who you. Who the fuck you're with, not me. So this comes because Leasha has been commenting on the Papoose relationship or whatever. I heard Alicia say something about, I whoop your ass right now. Next thing you know, oh, next thing you know, Clarissa Shields slapped her ass back to training. I mean, it was a. It was a. A booming slap. It had reverb. It had echo smacked you. And then I see Papoose jump in a. That's enough security. And people are trying to keep them separated. So the Most Valuable promotions event stated, MVP maintains a strict zero tolerance policy for hostile, threatening or aggressive behavior towards fighters, staff, media or guests at any of our events. Physical altercations outside the ring or cage are unacceptable in any MVP environment. MVP does not condone, tolerate or accept Clarissa Shields behavior in that setting. And it reflects poorly on MVP and women's sports, which we have worked tirelessly to uplift effectively immediately. Clarissa Shields is banned from all MVP events until further notice. And I was like, but they're both fighters. Like, this is tea.
Kid Fury
Yeah, in any other situation, I would understand, but y' all promote and produce fighting events. The idea that two fighters might not fight, I mean, it's just like, I think y' all are just mad because they didn't fight, that this fight happened without y' all sanctioning it. Y' all weren't able to sell tickets for it, so that's why you're mad. But you can't be shocked that one boxer smacked another boxer after the two of them were going back and forth and talking shit like that.
Crissle West
Right.
Kid Fury
Just kind of feels like this is the industry you're in. Like, I don't know how mad you can be about that, but also don't really care about her. Getting banned from there. Is it. Is this, like, a big deal that you can't go be a guest at any of them?
Crissle West
It's not like Will Smith can't go to the Oscars. No, it's not that big of a deal. Right. As a fighter or even a fan of fighters. Yeah, that's a bit of a nick. Yeah, it's. But also, I just think. Yes, it's just a silly thing to get nicked. But she didn't smack somebody at the Wetzel Pretzels.
Kid Fury
Right. It wasn't even a fan or something. Like, this is another professional fighter. Like. Yes.
Crissle West
That. We all know they. We all know they've had issues with each other, don't like each other, talk shit back and forth. And then y' all are sitting here kind of allowing them on camera to go back and forth. So it. It feels like it almost gives me bravo. Where it's like, let's get the girls liquored up and ask them about what this bitch said about the other one's husband.
Kid Fury
Yeah.
Crissle West
But if she strikes the other one, if anyone lays hands. Humiliated, admonished, villainized, destroyed at the reunion.
Kid Fury
Yeah.
Crissle West
Not brought back for the following season. It's like. But you amped it up until the very human thing.
Kid Fury
Yep. End of the day.
Crissle West
And now it's like, well, we don't tolerate it. You started it. I mean.
Kid Fury
Yeah, I get it.
Crissle West
Whatever.
Kid Fury
Yeah. Cause they create the perfect environment for this to happen, and then be like, oh, don't do the thing that we all know is coming. And it's like, right. That's just to protect your ass legally, because you don't want the person who got slapped to sue you and her. So that's why y'.
Crissle West
All.
Kid Fury
Y' all be like, okay, well, you know, you put a hand on a housewife or blah, blah, blah. So I'm sure this is what MVP is doing. They're protecting themselves because that other lady might be litigious. And, you know, if I don't like you and you smack me, I am going to pursue that. I am going to pursue legal ramifications for that. Cause I don't like you.
Crissle West
Yeah. I think Alicia did even imply that that was what was gonna happen. But, yeah, I thought this was funny for a number of reasons, and most of them I think you have either acknowledged or can just guess.
Kid Fury
Yeah. Who doesn't. Who doesn't want to get they opps in trouble? Like, bitch, I don't like you. Please don't give me a reason to take it as far as I possibly can, like, but if I was mvp, I would be trying to sell this as, like, they hate each other. Watch them go toe to toe in the mma ring on June 4th or whatever. Like, I would be trying to sell another fight between the two of them, right? Yeah.
Crissle West
Putting up, like, putting up their fucking tweets back and forth on the.
Kid Fury
Oh, yeah, oh, yeah, all that shit.
Crissle West
On April 2nd of 2026, this bitch Alicia went on Threads and said, like, gas it up.
Kid Fury
Yeah, yeah. At the next fight. Be like, all right. To make it fair, Alicia, you get one opportunity to smack the shit out of her and then the real fight will start. Let's go.
Crissle West
Yes.
Kid Fury
You know, but I get it. The law.
Crissle West
I guess this is why the girls like wrestling, because who cares? Chaotic, sure, it's fake, but these bitches fight in the ring, outside the ring, on the way to the ring, on the roof of the place, wherever it's a part of the entertainment, you know, with two fighters near each other, they don't like each other and argue.
Kid Fury
And y' all knew that.
Crissle West
Are you kind of letting them be close enough to argue with one another? They are in arm's reach of each other talking about fighting. Oops. One of them smack. No blood.
Kid Fury
Yeah, right?
Crissle West
Not even really from the shoulder.
Kid Fury
No teeth are missing or dislodged, like. Come on, guys, come on. But Clara, you know, Clarissa does have to. You have to. You have to be better than this. You are an adult. You have to know better.
Crissle West
Yes. So, yeah, I agree. I kind of do feel like Babs for making the bed.
Kid Fury
Let him fight,
Crissle West
Let him fight.
Kid Fury
Yeah, this is boxing. Like, I already think the sport is barbaric, so one person smacking another in the VIP area does not shock me about boxing. Like, I expect that out of y'
Crissle West
all very parental guidance. Yeah, yeah, that's it. Well, that's really all I have for you girls on the. The hot tops for this week. I'd apologize for not listening to Icemania, but I'm not sorry. The little Jackson glove.
Kid Fury
Oh, my God. And the little tagline he put on it on Apple Music says it's like Iceman. You know, the COVID art and everything. And then it says, below zero, above you.
Crissle West
Oh, I saw that.
Kid Fury
I saw. Oh, my God. Are you 16?
Crissle West
All of them have, like, a little.
Kid Fury
Yeah, some little snippet bio.
Crissle West
And I noticed that too, but the Iceman was the first one I noticed. Below zero, above you. And I was like, work, Regina. On Wednesdays we do wear pink.
Kid Fury
You put that in LA Byrne book On the Kendrick Lamar page, this girl
Crissle West
is a fugly, fugly slut. Love it.
Kid Fury
That's exactly what it gave.
Crissle West
Yeah, I'll let y' all know what I think of the Canadian young man. Yeah, we'll wrap this up and actually get into interesting things, which is Yalls business. Kodak Black got arrested. He looks worse than usual.
Kid Fury
Damn.
Crissle West
Not saying something.
Kid Fury
It is. Yikes.
Crissle West
God, this young man is homely. Okay, that's it. We'll be right back.
Kid Fury
Okay, I have to tell you, I was just looking on ebay, where I go for all kinds of things I love. And there it was.
Crissle West
That hologram trading card.
Kid Fury
One of the rarest.
Crissle West
The last one I needed for my set.
Kid Fury
Shiny like the designer handbag of my dreams. One of a kind. Yes, ebay had it. And now everyone's asking, ooh, where'd you get your windshield wipers? Ebay has all the parts that fit my car. No more annoying, just beautiful. Millions of fines, each with a story. EBay, things people love.
Crissle West
And Doug, there's nowhere I wouldn't go
Kid Fury
to help someone customize and save on car insurance with Liberty Mutual.
Crissle West
Even if it means sitting front row
Kid Fury
at a comedy show.
Crissle West
Hey, everyone. Check out this guy and his bird. What is this, your first date? Oh, no. We help people customize and save on car insurance with Liberty Mutual together. We're married. Me to a human, him to a bird. Yeah, the bird looks out of your league. Anyways, get a quote@liberty mutual.com or with your local agent.
Kid Fury
Liberty. Liberty.
Crissle West
Liberty.
Kid Fury
Liberty.
Crissle West
Okay, folks, we're back. It's time for your letters.
Kid Fury
Yes, it is. If you have a question for us, send us an email. Ask the reader gmail.com. we may read it aloud on the show. We do have an update from Chloe, who, if you remember, Chloe, wrote to us about her broke ass husband who took them to the steakhouse but didn't have no money and she had to transfer some into the account. And she was like, is marriage a scam or is it just my man? And so she said, thanks for reading my letter. It's a sad story, but I was dying laughing, and I wanted to follow up. Y' all read me and him, but you didn't tell not one lie. I went to that steak dinner because he framed it like he had actually planned a date night for us. He said he got the babysitter and made it seem like he handled everything. I've complained for years about him never planning dates. So I wanted to believe that he finally stepped up. I assumed he had Money from Uber or something, ready to cover it. But then when the bill came, he hit me with the how we gonna pay for this? And that's when I just completely checked out mentally and transferred the money. So I wasn't spoiling him. I was responding to what I thought was effortless, but really turned out to be smoke and mirrors. Since then, I've started looking for an attorney, and I've already told him I want a separation. Because just like y' all said when y' all read my letter, it's time for me to take my life back. I don't deserve this. And the way you frame the lessons he's teaching our kids really hit me. I do not want my children thinking this is normal or right. So I'm gonna take some time away, and if that doesn't work, I'm moving forward with divorce. Thanks, Chloe. Exactly. Couldn't be more exactly like that, man. How you gonna invite me out to dinner and not have money for dinner? Like, okay. No, no, no. All right. Good for you, Chloe. Best of luck. Let's move on to this week's letters. This first one comes from Juan, who says, hi, Chris, Lynn, Kid Fury. I am watching Is God Is this weekend, and if you've seen it, I'd love your review. It's a beautiful play and the director is incredible. Can't wait to hear your take if you've seen it. Love from London. Juan, did you go see Is God Is?
Crissle West
Yeah, I saw it yesterday.
Kid Fury
I saw it as well. So I guess, you know, maybe minor spoilers for Is God Is at this point. I loved it. I cannot lie. I thought it was incredible. What did you think of it?
Crissle West
I really, really, really liked it. I thought so many things about it were great. I loved the stylization of it, obviously. I loved the. The fact that the twins were so in sync that we had subtitles of them communicating with each other in their head. I thought that was perfect. I thought it was so expertly done. I thought a lot of the little minor black isms that were kind of done in, like, in an absurdist sort of way. I thought that was, like, the child that lasted, like, two minutes straight, almost. Things like that. I love the hair, specifically the twins hair. Feel like. I don't know, their braids just felt, like, iconic to them in a way. It just. It fit their aesthetic and idea. I love the weapon.
Kid Fury
You would.
Crissle West
Only because, like, in this type of thing, you would get a sword. Guns. You're like, an obvious weapon. Knife, even. No, A rock and a sock. Being the consistent weapon here, I thought was very interesting. The acting was great. The cinematography was great. My one gripe was the way that it ended.
Kid Fury
Mm. See, I appreciated the ending. I thought it was so. Again, like we said, spoilers. I thought. Not only did Sterling K. I understood why Racine left. What was the other twin's name?
Crissle West
Anaya.
Kid Fury
Anaya. Wait, so Racine is the one who died with Daddy? Yes. I understood why Aniyah didn't try to save Racine. I. Not. You know, I think when she. When she was having that moment earlier with the brother twin who. It seemed like he was like the nerdy shy one, and then he ended up being even more evil than his brother when she was having that man, when I tell you, when, when. When Anaya saved him and they were outside, he was like, thank you. And then he strangled the. Out of her. I literally so this movie. I'm all over the place. It absolutely was triggering as fuck. As fuck. And I watched a lot of the most violent parts through my eyes, but I knew that. Or through my fingers. But I felt like when she was, you know, when they were in the kitchen, Aniyah was. And she was talking to him about, you know, do you ever feel like that other person really benefits off of, you know, you being the ugly one or the whatever one? The not so popular one. Right, right. So I thought that spoke a lot to Aniyah's beliefs and, you know something that she probably never really even felt like she could vocalize with her sister. But also she told Racine, if you kill anybody else, I am gonna leave you. And she told her, and there was something in Racine that was just like, they. Daddy and the lawyer even told her that when they went to go see the lawyer, he was like, you. You like him in the eyes. It was something about killing that she, Racine. It was like, girl, you shouldn't be this excited about killing people. Like, you kill any damn body at this point. So I understood why when Sterling K. Brown pulled her into the fire. And I was like, you know what? Actually, this is. This is the end of the road. Like. And so I've been thinking about it since I saw it, because at first I was just, like, horrified. Like, no, y' all did all this. And, you know, but the lawyer had also said, you know, be careful with revenge. Be careful, because, you know, you don't really know how things are going to land. So I. Even though I didn't see that ending coming, the more I sit with it, the more I like it. The more I think it was as. As sad as the story is. Overall, I just. I understood how we got there. I really did. And so I thought it was excellent, an excellent film. I cannot wait to see it again. And I love that. It's pissing off. It's pissing off two distinct groups of people. First of all, black men who feel like, why would you depict us in an abusive way? As if.
Crissle West
No, I'm reading.
Kid Fury
Men are abusive. Right. Oh, okay, wonderful. And then also the ultra super Facebook Christians who are like, how dare you refer to God or anybody? Ask God other than God. And it's like, did you even stupid watch the fucking movie? Like, oh, my God. The one thing I didn't really like was, forgive me, Vivica Fox's performance. Like, I think I would have preferred somebody else being the mother.
Crissle West
I liked it.
Kid Fury
I mean, I didn't dislike it, but I just. It's. I don't know. I think every time I see her, I just see car shield commercials. I just see wig ads. Like, I just. I'm never pulled fully into the performance. Not that it was bad, but I think I would have appreciated somebody else in that role.
Crissle West
I don't know. Some of the best acting she's done in a long ass.
Kid Fury
Yes. I mean, I would agree with that. So. But it was. I really, really enjoyed it. And I like when movies make me think so.
Crissle West
Right.
Kid Fury
I will see it again, for sure.
Crissle West
I will definitely be seeing it again. I'll probably get the 4K steelbook. Probably. I'll definitely be getting that Steelbook version for the home. I suggest everyone who hasn't seen it go see it now. I love the fucking pulpy, violent. It's just. I don't know, absurd, grainy, raw road, trippy vibe to it. Like, that's my type of shit. Anyway. The sort of. The way that it sort of invokes memories of Kill Bill for me. Yeah, was great because I love those films. Yeah. The ending for me is less about Racine dying and how she died. I think that probably plays out better in the play than it did in. In film. I've never seen the play itself, but I would imagine that that, for me, at least visually and thematically worked better in the play. I was certain that Racine was not gonna see the end of this credits.
Kid Fury
Damn.
Crissle West
Damn. I knew probably about halfway through she was just too dialed in. She was being. She was basically being destroyed. Being, like, killed by her hate, by her anger, by her. Like, her emotional scars were really fucking her up more than anything. Else. And she had kind of just submit to this violence that, like you said, the lawyer was like, girl, watch yourself. You never know where the blood's gonna land.
Kid Fury
Yep, yep, yep.
Crissle West
And through that, through her twin telling her, I don't like this. I don't like this for you. I don't like what's going on unless you kill Janelle Monae. But, baby, it's gonna be one more time.
Kid Fury
Yes.
Crissle West
You know, so I think the whole thing with my issue with the death was just the way that it happened. I just thought that it looked really silly.
Kid Fury
Oh, okay.
Crissle West
So you light him on fire in the tub. You watch as. And listen as he is burning alive. And then right in the last second, his flaming arm comes out and pulls you into it, and then it explodes.
Kid Fury
So. What the.
Crissle West
Jason. What kind of fucking Nightmare on Elm street shit is this?
Kid Fury
Got you. Okay.
Crissle West
Know what you did last summer? As and like, why? So just like, this hand, this arm ablaze, snatches her in to hellfire. There's no way to save her. Whatever. And then, like, a hundred seconds later, the movie's over.
Kid Fury
Yeah.
Crissle West
I would have liked a bit more of a Bo. So what did God have to say?
Kid Fury
I did want to know what happened when Aniya got back to their mama. Was she already dead?
Crissle West
That's what I would have wanted. That's how I would have punched it.
Kid Fury
Yeah.
Crissle West
So you done went all this way with your sister. Lost her before you actually lost her.
Kid Fury
Right, right.
Crissle West
All on a mission for your mama that you kind of just met.
Kid Fury
Right.
Crissle West
And it was weird and awkward, and even before even loving on you or, I think, even touching you, she was like, can you go kill this man that you also haven't met? Don't know.
Kid Fury
Yeah.
Crissle West
To go back through all of that and the bitch dead before you even got to have a regular conversation with her. Know what her favorite color is that?
Kid Fury
Yeah.
Crissle West
That would have been the gut punch.
Kid Fury
Yeah.
Crissle West
But you just set this bitch on fire. And it'd be like, well, I got on the bus and I had a baby.
Kid Fury
Yeah. I think they were like. And we're gonna focus on Aniyah being like, yeah, you know, going back to my mama. I don't know. I would have loved to see that. But I think it was supposed to be like, you know, she decided she was gonna focus on herself and her baby moving forward, and she was gonna leave all of that shit behind, which,
Crissle West
I mean, narratively, that is perfect.
Kid Fury
Mm.
Crissle West
The execution of that. It felt like it happened in 60 seconds.
Kid Fury
It did. It really did. It did indeed happen that quickly. Yes. And I think we were all looking for some sort of closure with Vivica's
Crissle West
character, even without it. It could have been like, I got on a bus, and maybe there's just a sequence on the bus where she's like, I'm not going home to that bitch.
Kid Fury
Yeah.
Crissle West
Maybe we get like, a flash of her in the hospital in labor or something like that. Or even just bringing a baby home or just, like, showing up, you know, I felt like those little moments with her picking herself could have been just a few minutes longer or a minute longer or something like that. It feels like she just lost a sister. And then before you could process it, especially if you didn't know it was gonna happen, the movie was just done.
Kid Fury
Yep. Yep, it was.
Crissle West
I cannot but tell you the amount of people in the theater when the credits hit who were like, okay. Everybody was kind of like, huh? And then, like, on the far side of the theater, for me, I just heard.
Kid Fury
Not the slow clap.
Crissle West
I think that, like, we all loved it. We were laughing, we were cheering. And I think. I just think that ending caught a lot of people off guard.
Kid Fury
Yeah.
Crissle West
And for me, it was just like. It just happened so, so quickly. On top of the fact that I guess Freddy Krueger is your daddy. It was such a, like, 90s slasher way to kill somebody.
Kid Fury
Yeah. I also. I mean, there were so many things in this movie that I just adored. The. The scene with the twins and Janelle Monet's character.
Crissle West
Girl.
Kid Fury
Incredible, that lady. I was like, oh, girl, you were this close. You were this close. Oh, my God.
Crissle West
Why didn't she come out of this?
Kid Fury
Why didn't she even get out of.
Crissle West
Selfishness.
Kid Fury
Yes. Right, right, right.
Crissle West
For a second to just go, well, if it helps at all, girl, I hate that bitch, too.
Kid Fury
Yep.
Crissle West
I'm on the run at the moment.
Kid Fury
Yeah. So, like, I thought they was gonna team up and be like, let's all kill him, like I thought. But there's also. There's so many funny moments throughout. Like when she took off her diamonds or whatever and put them in the street. And Racine was like, don't nobody want your shit. Anaya was looking at her like, hold on, bitch. Wait a second, bitch.
Crissle West
And she asked her after, like, you want them pearls?
Kid Fury
Like, no.
Crissle West
When she spit on her, I was like, oh, this bitch is spitting.
Kid Fury
Yeah. Oh. I said, oh, you're. You have to die now. That's when Aniyah was like, okay, yeah, yeah, I'm locked in. We wasn't gonna do it, but now we kind of have to. We was just gonna steal your car. Now you have to die. You can't spit on niggas. You know, we don't do that.
Crissle West
And she's such a soft hearted girly girl. I don't really want to do this. Even when that was happening, she. She had to holler out, yeah, like, girl, that's enough. Scene. Stop. That's enough.
Kid Fury
The bitch wasn't even hollering back no more like, she is dead and the blood is dead. Oh, my God.
Crissle West
Anyway, she was covered in it.
Kid Fury
Very graphic, very gory. But I thought a very. Overall, a very good movie. I cannot wait to see it again.
Crissle West
Really, really great. Absolutely. If you haven't seen it and you're sitting through the spoiler for whatever reason I was lying to y', all, go watch it. It is incredible. Incredible.
Kid Fury
Go see it.
Crissle West
It's really, really good. The cinematography is great. The writing. So many of the lines are so great. And the fact that it's these two siblings who have had each other's back.
Kid Fury
Yeah.
Crissle West
For their whole life. The way that as soon as you meet them, just. Sorry. As soon as you meet them and you kind of witness the way that they're locked in with each other, not just for being twins, which that's highlighted a lot as well from that very early flashback of them being little. Little girls on the playground, racing kids called her ugly. And she picked up that bat.
Kid Fury
Yeah.
Crissle West
And was like, guys, let me for you. And the fact that happened off screen, too. And then she just comes and sits back with her sister. There was just so many directorial decisions here that I thought were fantastic. One of my friends was like, I don't know why they were hiding the father's face the whole time. We know that Sterling came around. Yes, we do know that.
Kid Fury
We do, we do.
Crissle West
But there is a decision here. Bigger than us knowing who that is.
Kid Fury
Yeah.
Crissle West
That goes to that. They've never seen this man. They don't remember what he looks like. They don't know shit about him. All they know is that he's monstrous. And then he apparently has these big, bright white teeth.
Kid Fury
Yeah. When Vivica's character told the girls that men like your daddy always have a tender side or a soft side or something like that. The way that came up twice. First I thought with the scene with one of the twin brothers who seemed very sweet and then snapped like that. But then also when Aniyah fell for this n. And his. Your mama told you that? No, no, no.
Crissle West
I Felt so bad for you.
Kid Fury
I said, girl, you cannot. And I honest, her telling him that she was pregnant meant he was gonna kill her even faster. Like, he would get even more joy out of it. I couldn't believe he spared her for being pregnant. I definitely thought he would have been like, oh, you're. I'm definitely killing you.
Crissle West
Me too. Me too. I turned to my friend during that scene where she put the sock down, and I was like, no. I said, this is taking too long. Can he just hurry up and attack her? This is, like. This is just driving me nuts. I know he's gonna do it.
Kid Fury
Yep.
Crissle West
Yeah, that was rough. I completely agree. I feel like someone else pointed to that, too. I think Janelle Monae's character kind of implied it. Too many of them did. Even Erica Alexander, who.
Kid Fury
Oh, my God.
Crissle West
My God. This lady cannot.
Kid Fury
So funny.
Crissle West
Anything but funny. She doesn't even have to speak. When she was in get out, she made me laugh without saying anything. In this movie where she's eating the. The ribs, and then she makes this, like, this hand gesture, like, shooing it away.
Kid Fury
Right.
Crissle West
She is so funny.
Kid Fury
Hilarious.
Crissle West
It was another thing with her. She was like, oh, yeah, he did this for me and gave me this son. And when you meet him, tell him that the church, they all kind of.
Kid Fury
I'm still waiting on him. Girl, girl, that man is married with other children. She really thought he was still coming back. And the way that you have to go see this.
Crissle West
When they asked her when he left and she said, when she was pregnant, and then they looked up at this grown nigga and they said, wait.
Kid Fury
And then she had a shrine to this. N. Like, come on.
Crissle West
That's what I'm saying. It's so absurd, but it also. The themes within it are very valid. It is fun. It's very fun. It's really awesome to see young black women in this type of, like, action thriller role.
Kid Fury
Yeah.
Crissle West
Love the blood.
Kid Fury
You would.
Crissle West
No, I just love that it's bloody. Like, I love that it's not. I don't know how I was to wear this.
Kid Fury
It's just.
Crissle West
It's ballsy. It's death proof. It's death proof, but it's not a whole bunch of stabby. Stabby, I'm gonna shoot you in the head.
Kid Fury
No, it's much more graphic.
Crissle West
Foot origin. They're not killers.
Kid Fury
Well, Racine is.
Crissle West
She evolved into one.
Kid Fury
I think she always was one. The way she would pick up. The way she picked up that bat at the very beginning. Racine had it in Her. And that's why Aniyah Anaya. Yeah, yeah. That's why she was like, you know, actually, much as I love my sister, I think she gotta go. Cause she not done killing.
Crissle West
She said. She said something like, he called you ugly. And she was like, I am. Oh, man.
Kid Fury
Oh, man. And that, bro. And you know. Cause so it's like, on the one hand, Racine has shown these violent tendencies from a young age. On the other hand, she was such a protector of her sister. She did not take no shit. And so anybody saying anything or even looking at them, crazy. She was ready for the smoke every fucking time. And it's like, girl, I don't know that you really value that. You really understand what it is to have something like that or somebody like that unconditionally in your corner. Cause your mama gave y' all up.
Crissle West
And it's like they don't remember their parents.
Kid Fury
Right.
Crissle West
They don't even remember what happened.
Kid Fury
Right.
Crissle West
But they witnessed their mother that they very clearly love.
Kid Fury
Right.
Crissle West
Be lit aflame in front of their father. So that kind of. By their father.
Kid Fury
Right, Right.
Crissle West
You know?
Kid Fury
Right.
Crissle West
That kind of. Although you don't remember them, you don't remember it. That type of trauma is just embedded.
Kid Fury
Oh, yeah.
Crissle West
That's in you forever and ever.
Kid Fury
Yeah.
Crissle West
So although you don't remember it, you've been. You calling my sister ugly. This thing.
Kid Fury
Oh, yeah.
Crissle West
It's in me.
Kid Fury
Oh, yeah.
Crissle West
I've already experienced insane, senseless violence.
Kid Fury
Yep. Oh, baby.
Crissle West
It's nothing for me to pick up this bat and beat your ass.
Kid Fury
I'm finna beat y' all ass. Run and tell the teacher. Cause I'm beating ass with the bat. Hurry up.
Crissle West
Yeah.
Kid Fury
Excellent movie. I've been thinking about it since I saw it. So good.
Crissle West
It is truly, truly excellent. I cannot wait to watch it again.
Kid Fury
I do.
Crissle West
I love how funny it is. For as dark as it also is. Yes, the acting was great. I love the costuming. It's so silly. What Erica Alexander was wearing. Her wig, so good. The whole long braid. Braids on Vivica. Like, Vivica's whole burnt up aesthetic was so ridiculous. And I loved it.
Kid Fury
I did love it.
Crissle West
The fact they never showed the body.
Kid Fury
Yeah. I did love the way she was draped and, you know, the way they had her dressed and all that in the bed. I. Excellent, excellent performances from everybody. Sterling K. Brown, the way you play a soulless, heartless, sociopathic nigga.
Crissle West
Yeah.
Kid Fury
How you come home and see your kids dead and you just like, oh, well, yeah, shit happens.
Crissle West
Made A sandwich.
Kid Fury
Dragged they bodies and lined them up by the door and went and poured yourself a drink. It's like you knew that. Like you just knew one day you was gonna come home to this. No. Even didn't even ask where your wife was at. Didn't even look for her. Like just straight up or figured one
Crissle West
day I'll probably do it myself. Oh, it's done. Okay.
Kid Fury
And then. And then when he's talking to her about it, like the. The older one that you killed, he was really gonna go places.
Crissle West
Like the horrible. The like obviously the one who was like a dickhead.
Kid Fury
And you know, I think he was like a dickhead, but probably not evil hearted like his daddy and brother.
Crissle West
Yeah.
Kid Fury
I don't know that he was right. And so it was just. Oh so, so much to think about. I've been thinking about this movie nonstop,
Crissle West
asking why he did it. She wouldn't let me hold her. Hold her.
Kid Fury
Right? A man gotta feel like a man. What?
Crissle West
At that young age, mind you.
Kid Fury
Mind you, you have a restraining order. You're not even supposed to be in the home. What you mean? What you mean?
Crissle West
You gotta shout out Sterling K. Brown, bitch. Because it's not gonna stop me from loving that man.
Kid Fury
Right.
Crissle West
That person.
Kid Fury
A performance though. Sterling K. Brown, the actor that you are all. Everybody though. Especially the girls who played the twins.
Crissle West
Yeah, they were excellent.
Kid Fury
Incredible. Like I.
Crissle West
Excellent.
Kid Fury
Can't say enough. Brava, everybody. Everybody.
Crissle West
Brava indeed. Go check it out. It's really, really worth it.
Kid Fury
It is. Okay. Our last letter comes from Hyacinth, who says, dear, I love that name. Dear Crystal and kid Fury. My fiance and I have been together for about five years. He's white and I'm black. This January we got engaged and this month we found out we're pregnant with our first child. We.
Crissle West
I'm sorry. Go ahead. We
Kid Fury
let her. Let her have it.
Crissle West
Yep. You know how I feel about that.
Kid Fury
I do, I do. It's not a shared womb, girl. But anyway, at all.
Crissle West
You are the one who has to go through this. Monst. I'm sorry. Go ahead.
Kid Fury
We've told my mom and dad who check in regularly from Atlanta, as do my friends. However, my in laws have not reached out to me directly and it's been over a week since we shared the news over the past few years. It didn't really bother me that they didn't check in much since I was just the girlfriend who visited during holidays once or twice a year. But now I'm their future daughter in law and the soon to be mother of their first grandchild. They don't go out of their way to check on me. They didn't respond to my text about babymoon logistics and they've left me on read without even a simple acknowledgment. My fiance says they're not big texters and prefer phone calls, but they are not calling me either. They send my fiance thoughtful notes and gifts in the mail, but they don't do anything like that for me. He is their firstborn son and his dad calls him almost every day expecting long conversations because he relies on him for emotional support. Meanwhile, my mother bakes him cookies and ships them across the country for his birthday. It is clear that he is a part of our family and he says he feels very welcomed and comfortable around them. My dad even invited his parents to a show in the Bay Area where they live and arranged for them all to meet. My mom flew to California to bring the families together for the first time last year. His parents have never made any similar efforts towards me and it's never felt like they wanted to build a relationship with me or get to know my family. This makes me feel like they only see me in relation to him and the baby, like I'm not a priority or someone they care about beyond being their son's partner or carrying their grandchildren. I don't expect them to check in like my family and friends do, but I am surprised by the lack of direct acknowledgment, especially since on the call where we announced the pregnancy, his mom jumped to conclusions about them throwing us a baby shower, which is not something I wanted or something we discussed. My fiance was quick to shut that down and reminded my mother in law that this is not about her, which I did appreciate. In general I feel vulnerable being far away from my own support system during this time and I resent that. His parents are physically close but emotionally distant. It makes me not want to include them in our child's future because it feels like they don't care about me, only about the baby and their son. I don't think they're racist. They definitely seem to be well meaning white liberals and I'm sure his mom is excited to have a brown grandchild she could show off to her friends. I wish my mom and friends were here in California instead. I love my fiance but I'm wary of white people in general, especially when they don't make an effort to build trust. At this point, right at this point I don't feel comfortable with them having much involvement or Alone time with our child. I haven't yet told my fiance how I'm feeling, but I might. If this continues into the second trimester, what advice do you have for me? Do you think maybe I should move back to Atlanta? Please help Hyacinth
Crissle West
girl. So many, so many notes.
Kid Fury
Yeah. Yeah.
Crissle West
So the expectation or maybe the idea that your in laws, your partner's parents, family, friends are going to change their energy opinion of you when you like take the next heteronormative step in your relationship.
Kid Fury
Right.
Crissle West
That's. That's not real. If your, your man's mama wasn't very nice or warm to you, you became his fiance or the mother's child, she's probably not going to be much different afterwards. She will probably tolerate you more when you have the baby. Because she wants baby. Yeah, the grandma's the baby. But I don't know. I do because these are white people. I get having more eyes and ears and brows on it. Because if these are some other niggas, I'd be like, ah, in laws. You know, I get being like, are these sounds racist? Being wary of white people in that way is why I've never committed to one. Also, they're nearly never attractive to me. But that. This isn't about me. I would say from here, moving back to Atlanta, where'd they live now?
Kid Fury
They live in la. The white in laws are in the Bay Area and then her family's in Atlanta.
Crissle West
I mean, I wouldn't. Moving is. So that's a lot. Yeah. And that's a big move. I would not place that the top of the priority list right now.
Kid Fury
Yeah.
Crissle West
Especially if you're not planning on leaving your white man. I also don't know though if I would wait for a specific trimester to say, hey, if you don't get them.
Kid Fury
Yeah, well, yeah, I mean, I kind of agree that like, it seems like they have never really been the type to check in and, and be, you know, buddy, buddy with you. And I can see how being pregnant with a first grandchild, like, I think I would also assume that y' all would maybe want to get to know me better or have a better relationship with me because, like, I'm your, I'm your future daughter in law and I'm the mother of your grandchild. Like, I would think you would want that. But white people be moving different.
Crissle West
Very different.
Kid Fury
Cause let me tell you, my brother's girlfriend was cool or whatever when she became the mother of my nephew. Oh, I was locked in. So I don't understand this really from the white family side, but I just also kind of, I just kind of would write that off as white people should. Um, so. But I can also understand you being pregnant and wanting people around who are pouring into you and caring about you and showing you that effort and consideration. So moving is a lot. And I think my main concern would just be, you know, employment, housing, your actual physical condition, like that's a cross country move. But hell, if you get those things now, if you get started now, y' all might be able to get it done, you know, well, before you give birth. But it might be. That's, that's also a lot of money and a lot of effort. If that's not realistic, then I would say, as opposed to focusing on how these people are lacking, really lean into the people who are supporting you. Like, it sounds like your husband's not the problem here, which is great. If he was, this would be totally different. Totally different. What, you think the husband is an issue?
Crissle West
I think he's making some excuses. I feel like he's making some excuses.
Kid Fury
Well, are they bitches?
Crissle West
All they do don't really talk much. I'm pregnant. I'm having your first big headed baby. Tell these bitches to be nice.
Kid Fury
Well, I mean, is it an excuse or is it a reason?
Crissle West
Yeah, it's a reason.
Kid Fury
Like they sound like these are just the type of people that they are, like.
Crissle West
But I agree that like, okay, this is the worst until this kid gets here or whatever. And so I need that support, like you're saying.
Kid Fury
Yeah, so if your mama is retired or something and she can come stay with you for like the first six months or something, I would do that. Any friends who want to come and, and see you, support you, your daddy, your family, whomever. I might give it some time. But yeah, I mean, I don't know, it's hard because you don't want to move just because of. I say just because of pregnancy. Like, pregnancy is not life changing. But who knows? Maybe they will become the. Well, never mind. Don't even hope for that. Don't even put no eggs in, in that basket of. Maybe they'll change. If a pregnancy is not changing them, then don't count on the baby itself changing them.
Crissle West
The baby though, the baby physically being outside of your body.
Kid Fury
They have to see their little brown grandchild.
Crissle West
Yeah.
Kid Fury
Then they'll love you.
Crissle West
Might start with some small talk. Then they're like, oh, you know what? I never actually had a conversation with this woman.
Kid Fury
She's kind of nice.
Crissle West
I don't know, maybe. But I like the idea of having, if possible, mom or someone come out there and stay with you for a few weeks, a couple of months to help and also give you the support and love that you need. Because my grandma did that. I think after my little brother was born, the. The second one, she moved from New York and stayed.
Kid Fury
Yeah.
Crissle West
Lived at our house. I thought that she lived there. I was like, oh, yeah, she lives here in Miami. Until my brother got to a certain age. And she was like, all right, I'm going back to New York. And I was like, where?
Kid Fury
Yeah.
Crissle West
Oh, you don't live here. Miserable. How could you?
Kid Fury
Right?
Crissle West
Why would you leave? Oh, because I came here to.
Kid Fury
Because my grandma. Right? What you mean?
Crissle West
Like, what channel is the Golden Girls on? I don't even. How could you just leave? Who am I going to watch? General Hospital?
Kid Fury
Right?
Crissle West
Yeah, yeah. If that could happen, that would be my. My first suggestion.
Kid Fury
Yeah. I mean, you know yourself best. If you're really miserable with the lack of support, then it's probably for the best that y' all move to Atlanta. You. You and your husband are really gonna have to sit down and think about that. But, you know, being wary of white people in general is kind of like, well, I mean, you did have a white man's baby, so you did open yourself up to this.
Crissle West
Well, literally. Literally.
Kid Fury
You did usher in this opportunity to be deeply involved in white people's business. So I. Yeah. Oof.
Crissle West
I mean, it doesn't sound get out yet, right?
Kid Fury
It doesn't.
Crissle West
It doesn't sound too Armitage.
Kid Fury
No.
Crissle West
Um, but yeah, like, like I said, them being a white family, I do think I would also be like, are they just not big texters, not huge social communicators, or is it because I'm.
Kid Fury
Yeah.
Crissle West
Cause I do think maybe it's more. Especially black folk from the South. I think we're probably more likely to be like, oh, hey, and over at auntie house, stayed with the cousins a bunch picnic and all that type of stuff.
Kid Fury
That's why I'm like, Bay Area white people, they probably rich. And, you know, maybe rich white people don't act like country broke white people. They don't. Them is two different kind of white people. So I like each other. That's what I'm saying. White people don't even like each other. Girl, they barely speak at the dinner table. I'm not shocked if they don't talk to you, but. But if there is a white daughter or son in law and they're all up that person's ass. Then I think I would be like, yeah, I'm going to Atlanta. There you go, this and that, y'. All.
Crissle West
I run to Atlanta, just need a few dollars. That was another thing. I saw you got a song called Ran to Atlanta. Oh, Aubrey, why are you. Yeah, Hyacinth.
Kid Fury
But good luck to you. This is God, I. I really like. I understand that sometimes people are just cold or distant or, you know, they just don't open up, but you're carrying my blood relative. I'mma be up your ass as much as you let me.
Crissle West
As a child's child.
Kid Fury
As much as you let me what? Girl, you not gonna get rid of me. Did you want a white bestie? Cause you finna get one. That would be me if I was your mother in law.
Crissle West
I brought lemon
Kid Fury
and a bunch of Doc MC stuff. And for the baby, like, I don't even know if they still make that, but I'm getting all the.
Crissle West
I'm buying all the multi mushroom soup, cuz I brought the green bean.
Kid Fury
I'm getting a kensy cloth baby blanket and all kind of shit. Like,
Crissle West
I think, no, that you'd rather them be, right? You'd rather them be sorta kinda like you growing a person, right? I'm gonna be like, let me do whatever I need so this baby comes out right? As healthy as possible.
Kid Fury
Yeah.
Crissle West
So, yeah. Do you need anything?
Kid Fury
Right?
Crissle West
Some ice for your Ain't for your swollen black ankles.
Kid Fury
Are you growing my little grandbaby's toenails today? Like, I would just be so head ass and it would be so. But I think you would rather be annoyed in that way than like, damn, do these people even give a fuck about me? Or like, am I just an incubator for their grandchild?
Crissle West
But I'm about to be in this family, right? Like ideally for the rest of my life. So what's teaching?
Kid Fury
By law and by blood. So it's like, y' all come on now. Come on now.
Crissle West
And raising black kids with white people that you're questioning. I mean, you don't want to have a black baby and be like, what is her white grandmama and them giving, right?
Kid Fury
And Right, right, right. That's why I'm like, you gotta pay attention. You know this situation better than we do. But yeah, I hope, hopefully we've gave you, we've given you some, some things to ponder here as you make your decision. But best of luck. I. It just sounds like cultural differences to me.
Crissle West
Yeah, it does.
Kid Fury
But keep your, keep your eyes open, girl, because you never know with them,
Crissle West
especially in this day and age, this economy.
Kid Fury
Yeah. Yeah. All right, that is gonna wrap up our listener letters this week. Again, if you have a question for us, send us an email. Asktheread gmail.com. we're gonna take a quick break and be right back. Okay. I have to tell you, I was just looking on ebay, where I go for all kinds of things I love. And there it was.
Crissle West
That hologram trading card.
Kid Fury
One of the rarest.
Crissle West
The last one I needed for my set.
Kid Fury
Shiny like the designer handbag of my dreams. One of a kind. Ebay had it. And now everyone's asking, ooh, where'd you get your windshield wipers? Ebay has all the parts that fit my car. No more noise, just beautiful. Millions of finds, each with a story. EBay, things people love.
Crissle West
And, Doug, there's nowhere I wouldn't go
Kid Fury
to help someone customize and save on
Crissle West
car insurance with Liberty Mutual, even if it means sitting front row at a comedy show.
Kid Fury
Hey, everyone.
Crissle West
Check out this guy and his bird. What is this, your first date? Oh, no. We help people customize and save on car insurance with Liberty Mutual together. We're married. Me to a human, him to a bird. Yeah, the bird looks out of your league. Anyways, get a quote@libertymutual.com or with your local agent.
Kid Fury
Liberty. Liberty.
Crissle West
Liberty.
Kid Fury
Liberty.
Crissle West
Okay, folks, we have returned. It's time for the read. I hit on it earlier, so I guess I'll just go ahead and say to all the niggas who are in an uproar about the portrayal of this black man in the film, Is God Is. Ooh. Pick up a hobby. Read a book. Touch the grass outside. Pick a leaf off of a beautiful tree. Go play hopscotch, do some cardio, do anything else with your time besides waste it or expect us to waste it with you. For those of you who are upset by this character being violent by this story, by, you know, the father's character being violent, being destructive, being murderous, and having committed these unspeakable crimes against numerous women in his life, specifically his daughters, I would ask you, have you heard of niggas?
Kid Fury
Exactly. That.
Crissle West
Like, I'm personally not interested in y' all whining about what this means for black men or how this represents black men in any way. Dr. Serena Fairfax was just killed by her black eyes.
Kid Fury
Oh, my God.
Crissle West
Yeah, like last month. Vice Mayor Nancy Mateer just killed by her husband with a shotgun last month.
Kid Fury
Yep.
Crissle West
Are we really supposed to, what, play pretend like niggas are not out here? Attacking and killing women and children because they feel like it, because they didn't get what they wanted, because they're just emotionally not getting what they need. It happens pretty much every day. We talked about two of them last month alone. In this year, two beautiful, hardworking, accomplished, helpful black women just killed. Just killed by the black men in their life who were supposed to be committed to them and loving them and protecting them. So when I hear you niggas complaining about this figure, fictional character who is really serving the purpose of advancing a story that's just bigger than a black man being violent, I wonder what the is your plan or point? This film, this story, is not making black men look bad at all. Black men make black men look bad. Okay? Every nigga who behaves like this or even just a fraction of it, and every nigga who is complicit in this type of behavior, y' all make black men look bad like you do. And you would rather run into the comment section of wherever else and act like, oh, this is today's Color Purple. Yeah. Also a great film. So what next? And it's really not even that extreme or absurd of a concept because black men do this all of the time. Yes, there are other facets of the entire film and characters and the world that are meant to be, like, hyperviolent or campy or just a little bit hyperbolic, I guess. But at the root, a black family being destroyed literally because of a man in their life. A black man in their life who ain't shit and who has a whole bunch of excuses and was probably failed their damn self and never took accountability for it. I don't understand why we're acting like that's not a relevant story.
Kid Fury
Mm, mm. Yep.
Crissle West
Be the change you want to see, bitch. Nigga, if that's how the you feel, why don't you go touch and help some of these niggas in the street that are absolute reflections of this. So, like, shut your ever living lasting ass up. This is. These is God is real people's life today.
Kid Fury
Yeah, yeah, today.
Crissle West
Either living with that nigga right now or living with the ramifications of that nigga. And not even just the girls on the road getting ready to kill him, the women waiting foolishly for him to come back, the kids who never met this fuck nigga who couldn't give a fuck about him, who couldn't give a fuck about that kid, who's like, you can't tell me nothing about this one. You can't tell me nothing about my daddy to the other twins who, like, it's not just about the people in this black man's life that he actually physically harmed, killed, so on and so forth. It's all of these different facets and branches of someone being horrible, sociopathic, violent, immature, mentally and emotionally stunted, whatever the fuck you want to call it. And it's people's real life. At least when they go and see is God is. They can go and see two bad black bitches, like, taking life into their own hands and getting some. Get some out of it. And they can laugh and they can, you know, look at sort of silly things like these two girls speaking very black to each other in their heads, they can go and just release and think and feel and have a good time in this movie. That's not real. And I also find it incredibly upsetting and annoying that we always do this with our own art. But then Kill Bill could come out and not necessarily be a statement about all white men killing their wives and babies. That gets to just be a movie. Even though those themes are still ever present in films like that and Meant to Be there. We gotta be like, oh, I don't know whether, girl, how about you cup one of my balls and then the other one and just motorboat. Sound ridiculous. Not. We just buried two black women last month.
Kid Fury
At least two. Like, come on.
Crissle West
At least two that we know about killed by their husband. Then really, the reason we know about them is because they were very prominent women in their communities.
Kid Fury
Exactly, Exactly. But this happens to women. Like, come on, man, you more mad about the movie than you are about real life. But niggas do worse shit in real life. But you online bitching about a movie. Bitch about the niggas who are actually doing this shit in real life.
Crissle West
There it is.
Kid Fury
God damn, man. Like, priorities is just all up and in the wrong spot. I couldn't believe it. I'm like, I did. I expected the. The Facebook Christians to be like, is God is. Oh, I'm not even going to see Devil Wear product, because I'll play with that. Okay. My God, nobody. I don't do that. I expected that.
Crissle West
Yeah.
Kid Fury
To be mounting some sort of Internet tirade against this movie because it depicts a black man as an abuser. As if so many black men aren't abused. Did we not just hear about that? Who killed, like, eight of his own children, Right? Not just hear about this. What? Okay, all right, all right.
Crissle West
And on top of that, you want me to, what, wade around in your fucking pointless, useless, nonsensical soapbox Bullshit. When I could be going to go see a really great, critically acclaimed film, a game, and discussing it with people who have sense. Girl, get your ass right behind that TJ Maxx. Right behind that Office Depot or that Ross, that Marshall's. Sit on one of them cardboard boxes and speak to yourself about it or your God. Izzy is. Izzy ain't my Jesus.
Kid Fury
All right, I knew somebody was gonna do it eventually, but I won't. I will not. Izzy is a. Izzy ain't my Jesus is a step too far.
Crissle West
Yeah.
Kid Fury
And if you.
Crissle West
And even the Christian. Like, the super high. You said that too.
Kid Fury
Yes.
Crissle West
Like, if you saw that movie.
Kid Fury
Saw it. Yeah. Then you would understand that there. Go. Go watch the movie. I'm not gonna do the spoilers again. Go watch it. Right. Go watch it.
Crissle West
And a lot of them be the first one to go ask open AI a question.
Kid Fury
Oh, yeah. Ask a chat. GPT.
Crissle West
I guess she's there, too.
Kid Fury
Lord.
Crissle West
Like, okay, we so trapped. Sometimes we just jump directly over all of the scents, all of the information, all of the. The bookery. Just to, like, keep attaching ourselves to sentiments and narratives that don't serve us at all. And actually many times are put in place to keep us from doing things like, I don't know, maintaining voting rights or whatever.
Kid Fury
Well, come on now. I'm not gonna argue with people about a movie that they have not seen. I just actually, I draw the line right there. If you have not even seen the movie, we have nothing to talk about. Watch.
Crissle West
Some niggas who were complaining did watch it.
Kid Fury
Okay, well, in that case, you're just wrong
Crissle West
anyway, that they watched it. And I'm like, did you. Were you awake the whole time?
Kid Fury
Right?
Crissle West
Did it. Or did it just hit really close to home and you're not processing that right?
Kid Fury
Like, this nigga was clearly evil. He was clearly evil. He didn't give a fuck about nobody. So how. Why did you see something in him that made you feel like, oh, yeah, I relate. Yikes. You might want to look at yourself, my nigga.
Crissle West
He ripped out his attorney's tongue. Because attorney didn't laugh at his evil joke. He's a horrible person.
Kid Fury
I just wanted to make sure you wasn't gonna tell. Ah.
Crissle West
Ah.
Kid Fury
Okay. Yeah.
Crissle West
Just be a great movie.
Kid Fury
And it is. I really enjoyed it. So one more thing.
Crissle West
We have been in the film, television, literary industries long enough that we should be able to make stories where some of us are a villain. I am like, I would say the same thing about gay characters. Make them bad in their stuff. Too, sometimes. Because you know who is often awful? Gay people.
Kid Fury
Yeah.
Crissle West
Because they're people.
Kid Fury
Yep.
Crissle West
Every. Like, I don't want to see us just be either a great person or someone who's victimized or a magical Negro every goddamn time. Sometimes we could be villains, too, because we deserve to have stories of all kinds and facets without it being political. Every single story.
Kid Fury
Yeah.
Crissle West
Does that make sense?
Kid Fury
Yes. And I feel the same way about black women. I don't see myself in every black woman's character in movies. Sometimes we are the villain. You think I saw Precious and was like, how dare y' all portray Monique in this way? Like, how dare Monique portray black women in this way? Bitch, no. Sometimes you're fucked up even though you're a black woman. Sometimes you're doing fucked up shit even though, like, you can still be a villain. Like, I. It's so strange to me that y' all decided to fall on the sword for Sterling K. Brown's character. Like, that is an evil man. Yikes. Oh, okay.
Crissle West
Yeah.
Kid Fury
All right.
Crissle West
Let us have our stories. Let us tell our stories.
Kid Fury
Yes.
Crissle West
Whatever they look like.
Kid Fury
Indeed. Indeed. Okay, so I am passing my read this week in a way. First, I'm going to talk about what happened in San Diego the other day. If you didn't hear about this, two teenagers killed three people at a San Diego mosque on Monday and then killed themselves. And one of. Oh, God, it's really terrible. So they killed three Muslim people who were at the mosque. One of them, I think his name is Amin Abdullah, was a security guard. And he actually sounded the alarm, basically, and was able to keep these gunmen from getting much further, like, because, I mean, he ended up dying. But because of his efforts, they avoided a room where like 140 kids were. And they. Other people were able to go, you know, find shelter and safety. So it's really a miracle that only three innocent people died here. And he is absolutely a hero for that because he ended up, you know, deterring these people, these Sussex suspects from other areas of the mosque. And then the other two people who died were in the parking lot. And so, anyway, it's just an extremely sad story. And people have been rightfully talking about how we live in an Islamophobic society. And the rhetoric from the president, administration and the way that they act towards people who are Muslim directly contributes to these sort of attitudes. I mean, these are. This is a 17 and 18 year old. Like, I don't insane even know how you get to this level of up, but, you know, stole their parents Guns went and did all this terrible. Now San Diego has a mayor, I think their first openly gay mayor, which that has nothing to do with anything. His name is Todd Gloria, and he was giving a press conference after this terrible shooting happened. And he was stepping up to the podium to do like a briefing alongside law enforcement and a woman in the crowd who is extremely pissed at the way that he. I guess Todd Gloria has basically not been acting in the best interests of the minorities or the people of color in San Diego. He's just kind of been rolling over for ICE and allowing Islamophobic attitudes to prevail. And so somebody in the crowd decided to speak up as Todd was approaching the podium. And they said this. Hold, please, while I pull it up. When I tell you, hold, please. Hold, please.
Crissle West
Thank you.
Kid Fury
Direct result. Your leadership. Your leadership. Our Muslim brothers and sisters have been talking to you for how long? You have to listen to them, Todd, just like you did tonight. Hate speak. And you'll keep doing it as long as it minds your fucking prop. It's running. Show something. Worse approval rating than a fascist dictator with shit. You can't. Oh, shit. The mayor was too stunned to speak.
Crissle West
I mean, why me?
Kid Fury
He just sat there and blank stared and then looked down and was like, well, you know, hate has no home in San Diego. Like, okay. He had nothing to say to this person, which, if you didn't hear it, this sounds like a white woman said, this is a direct result of your leadership. Your leadership. Our Muslim brothers and sisters have been talking to you for how long? You have to listen to them, Todd, just like you did with ice. And then somebody chimed in about it was Trump. And she said, you have been you. You have emboldened Zionist propaganda and you gonna keep doing it as long as it lines your fucking pockets. Do something. You got a worse approval rating than a fascist dictator with shit in his hands, which. Or in his pants. One or the other. I said, go off, sister now.
Crissle West
Eating the girls.
Kid Fury
Now, you know how we just said sometimes you the minority and you still the villain? Ty Gloria is the first openly gay mayor of San Diego. Their first person of color to be mayor. But if you are, you can be those things. You can have those identities. But if you are not standing up for the rest of us, especially as a politician, when it is your goddamn job to protect your constituents and to not allow propaganda and lies and bullshit about certain groups of people to prosper in your communities, then yes, the bare minimum that you should receive is somebody who is part of that community holding your Ass accountable, face to face as you sit here. Don't come up here now and talk about, hey, don't have no place in our communities and all this bitch, don't
Crissle West
say where are your communities since they're on the ground somewhere.
Kid Fury
Since when have you felt that way about the Muslims? Since when have you felt that way? Like the girls, the girlies are confused.
Crissle West
I don't even know if I remember a time or lived in a time that wasn't Islamophobic here, literally. So what are we?
Kid Fury
Right? And so you would think, you know, like you, you have been elected probably by people who look a lot like this. And the idea that you have allowed that you. And you're far from the only politician who kind of like, oh, I don't know, Israel. Well, Israel's right to exist. Israel, you're far from the only one. A lot of Cory Booker, every time anybody asks Cory Booker about Israel, he just slides to the floor, child. He cannot take it. But like when, when two asshole teenagers turn around and go attack a mosque and kill three people and we over here like, well, it's a miracle they didn't kill more you to act like those two things aren't related is crazy. You're. You're actually going to have to address the things you believe, the things you say, the policies that you stand for and the rhetoric or the bullshit that you allow to, to have a home in the city that you are supposed to serve. If we cussing anybody out, it's the elected politicians. The buck stops with the fucking mayor. So shout out to that white woman for getting you right. I said, oh, and bookmarked. You will be the pastor read this week, sister. Cuz you said it. Cuz you cussed that man out to his face and didn't use not a single slurp. Like I would have wanted to. Like I wanted to got you right together. The blood is on your hands.
Crissle West
Hold this book, Marxist. I got something for you on Thursday.
Kid Fury
She said, guess what? How your approval rate rating lower than Trump's. The best part. You have to go watch the video. The best part is that the sign language interpreter is still going while the white woman is talking.
Crissle West
I no, she said, that's right.
Kid Fury
I mean every word, every word. I am communicating to the people.
Crissle West
Exactly. I know. The interpreter was like finally something fun. Okay.
Kid Fury
I just like it when people add a little spice to my day. She just kept, kept right on signing the whole time. And what? Todd is just sitting there blinking like, God damn, this was. What can you say not post that. Right. And he just stepped to right. He just stuck with the scripted remarks. Like, because she sat there and called you out to your fucking face. It's your leadership, bitch. You got us here.
Crissle West
And it's more. More of that should be happening. Like you said, it should be the politicians that we go into first about this.
Kid Fury
Yeah.
Crissle West
Wasn't there a time where we just all crowd out, Crowd outside of the government buildings?
Kid Fury
Just.
Crissle West
In ancient days of pitchforks and torches
Kid Fury
back in the day.
Crissle West
Bread is too exp.
Kid Fury
Yeah, yeah.
Crissle West
Now we have January 6th, which I guess is.
Kid Fury
Oh, please.
Crissle West
Did you hear that they're allegedly going to, like, compensate some of them.
Kid Fury
I heard that. And immediately my brain decided that we were not going to allow that to be a thing. And I'm just not going to. I actually can't mentally accept that. So. No, thank you.
Crissle West
Actually, America's played out.
Kid Fury
There's no way. There's no way that these people committed felonies on the steps of the capitol and we're gonna turn around and give them financial confidence.
Crissle West
Like, there's just that they attempted to kill baby politicians.
Kid Fury
The vice president. The vice president. And y' all are like, okay, here.
Crissle West
Fly to Tahiti. Have you ever been the south of France? You wanna go.
Kid Fury
You know, when America crumbles, nobody will be surprised.
Crissle West
None.
Kid Fury
Not a single.
Crissle West
I think most of us are surprised. It hasn't happened yet.
Kid Fury
We're just counting down, basically. I don't know. I feel like the 4th of July, some is gonna go down. I don't know. It just feels appropriate.
Crissle West
Oh, God.
Kid Fury
But yeah, shout out to the people out here, holding our elected officials accountable in one way or another because it is sorely needed. Tell the truth. Don't be afraid to say it. Tell the fucking truth.
Crissle West
Your perseverance and your efforts, not only do they not go unnoticed, they are ever inspiring. Yes, very appreciated because like Crystal said, I get up, I look at the news and I go, why am I awake? Anything stopping me from going back to
Kid Fury
sleep, man, let me tell you. I'll be waiting for the sun to set. Like, let me go take a shower and get in the bed. It's about that time. Thank God, the day is over. Every time. It's just the news. Be bad all day, all day. Like, I need a break. I do. Things are terrible around here, if you have not noticed. But, yeah, shout out to that woman for being brave enough to. To tell the truth.
Crissle West
So, well, here's something positive then. Have you. Did you listen to.
Kid Fury
You know, it came right up on my TikTok. I said, of course. So I heard it on TikTok. I didn't go press play on the song itself.
Crissle West
No, but that's what I thought. I figured that's what you. Where you would have heard it in the first place.
Kid Fury
Came right up. It did shout out to the algorithm, these phones are never not listening.
Crissle West
Isn't it so bad? It's pretty bad. But she's 19. It's like she's having a good time.
Kid Fury
Yeah, yeah. You know, sure. You know, I might be drunk at some point this summer and that shit. Come on, you gonna hear me holler at Guadala Guadala or whatever. You're gonna catch me.
Crissle West
So I do it randomly all the time. Sometimes it actually catches me off guard and it pisses me off. And link be like, why does it always have to be something with you? She says, why can't you ever just shut your ass up and you mad at yourself?
Kid Fury
Why do you keep saying it?
Crissle West
I don't know. I can't. It just comes out
Kid Fury
said, girl, have you tried not saying it?
Crissle West
Like, damn, why don't you just drink some so I don't have to hear anything. You love coconut water, so on my nerves.
Kid Fury
Damn.
Crissle West
Shout out to the babies.
Kid Fury
Yes.
Crissle West
Nicki Minaj.
Kid Fury
