A
What's up, pussycat? Whoa, whoa, whoa. Welcome back to. Welcome to the program. My name is Jaleel White.
B
And I'm Whoopi Goldberg, and this is the Read. Thank you for joining us.
A
It is. And thank you. Welcome back. It is August already.
B
Mm.
A
Time flies when you're living in hell. So. Okay.
B
That's one way to put it.
A
I mean, good girlfriend. I forgot to check some of the. The primary results. Whatever. Okay, well, yeah, get there later.
B
Sure.
A
This week in Black Excellence, we're gonna be giving it over to the one and only Grace Jones. Oh, Fury. What did Grace Jones do? Just beat Grace Jones. I don't. That's it. We watched Boomerang on Patreon last week. It's the first time I'd seen it since college.
B
Oh, wow.
A
And really rewatching it. You know what? I didn't remember a lot of it. What I did remember is every scene with Eartha Kid and Grace Jones in it. And those hold up in a mighty way. Grace Jones is absolutely impeccable. On fire, gorgeous, talented, perfect. And you know what? Earth the Kid as well.
B
Yeah.
A
Icon gonna go ahead and toss Earth the Kid into Black Excellence as well. Because for the listeners at home who are like, oh, I'm 22. I started listening to y' all when I was three. Get in. Okay. Grace Jones. Oh, you mean the lady from Renaissance? See, I will fight you. And that's why I'll fight you.
B
Yeah.
A
So get into these names. Ask your mama about them. Unless your mom is, you know, 30. Then I guess use your ass. Grandma. And, yeah, the perfection that is Eartha Kit outside of even that role and being the Catwoman, Lots of hot takes and bits about life. And same with Grace Jones. So that's it. That's my black accents for the week. Two iconic divas that your children and grandchildren need to know about. Because if they don't, what the fuck are you doing?
B
Right? And that's on you.
A
That's your problem.
B
Yep. Amen.
A
This week in our hot tops. Let's see. We've got some ground to cover here. There was a girlfriend's reunion of sorts because Ms. Tracy Ellsroth is debuting in Broadway in every brilliant thing. Have you gone or are you gonna go?
B
I have not gone yet, but I have heard about the show and I think it closes in, like, four days. So if I'm gonna go, I need to hurry up.
A
Well, yeah, sounds like all the time.
B
Sounds like now, right now. I might be buying these tickets as we speak.
A
Yeah. The ladies were photographed together. Oh, no. This is a picture from last year. Oh, no, there's probably a picture together. This is on Instagram, so. Okay, let me view this post on Instagram. Yeah, here we go. They did take a picture together. It's on Persia White's page on her Instagram. These women all look like they like the show wrapped yesterday.
B
Oh, yeah. No, they've all aged incredibly. They really have. Like, what? They look so, so good. It's true.
A
Movie, movie, movie. I think. Listen.
B
Him.
A
The. The creator. Why is her name escaping me? Iconic.
B
Oh, baby. I. The.
A
The creative girlfriends.
B
Oh, Mara Brock Ail.
A
There we go. Mara Brock ail. I feel like she said not long ago, understandably. Girl, they're gonna give us the respect and the budget. They're gonna give us all of the things that this deserves or tough.
B
Yes. For us. We're not doing it. And it's that simple.
A
I agree.
B
Yep. I agree as well. Girl, know your worth.
A
Um, so I went ahead and I watched this full segment on Kami Burris podcast where she talks about Tamar Braxton. Now, I don't know that I was privy to the two of them having issues with one another. I think maybe I. Maybe I sort of remember Drama when they were on tour together when she was opening for Escape.
B
Oh, yes. Okay. Yes. As soon as you said it, it started to come back to me. Remember? Because it was. It was Escape. It was Tamar. It was somebody else too. Right. It was like Monica, maybe. I. I. But yes, now that you said it, it's coming back to me as Well, I do remember that.
A
Yeah, I had forgotten. But she brings it up in this little interview thing. Did you see it?
B
So I saw the clip of her addressing Tamar, but I did not go back and watch the whole thing. I said, this is enough for me.
A
This is.
B
I don't know what Tamar has done, but it do sound like her to be online keeping up mess. So I said this.
A
The click, no shake. Could have been the whole thing.
B
I mean, it was as soon as she said, you always talk about my voice, but Jesus, you can sing so good and don't nobody give a. I said, oh,
A
she did say that.
B
It was pretty brutal and it wasn't a lie either. I said, oh, yes, Candy, that's true. Don't try to give the girls a little live vocal. She said, I'm not even gonna play myself like that. I'm gonna straight up say, yeah, you can sing so beautifully and who the fuck cares?
A
She did kind of eat that.
B
You're a flop ass bitch and all you do is run your mouth online. So get a real job. I said, oh, God damn.
A
Let me see if Tamar has responded yet or if she's gonna save it for like Hollywood unlock.
B
Yeah, she gonna save it. She gonna go live on TikTok or some shit and that's gonna be that. Because, you know, say what you want to about Candy. She did not. I didn't hear a lot and none of what she said to Tamar in that clip. I did not hear one falsehood.
A
So, yeah, I'm trying to see now I'm just seeing clips of Tamar somewhere singing. Wait, what does this say? The truth. Yeah, that whole, that whole clip sounded to me. And I said this on figures thoughts. It sounded to me like, like if you overhear your mama on the phone talking to your auntie about your other auntie.
B
Scandalous.
A
You know what I'm saying? Like if you overhear your mama talking to your auntie and she talking shit about the other one.
B
Yeah.
A
And she's like, well, I don't know why she come up and try to shake my hand. She know we don't get along. I don't like her. Instead of me walking out of this thing, she pass me and go say, bitch. And I'm like, bitch. It just really. It sounded terrible.
B
It did. No, it did. Especially when she got to the part where she was like, you need to learn how to be a lady and handle your business. I was like, oh, work, auntie, be a lady, girl. This is 1993.
A
Yeah, that was. That was me. That was really kind of all.
B
I.
A
It did. It did. I thought it was gonna be, like, scandalous.
B
Right.
A
But it was just, like, petty. I don't like you. You don't like being caring, Right?
B
And, yes, when I see you, I do ignore you, and I'm gonna keep doing that, and there's nothing you can do about it. I was like, oh, well, yeah, that's the way that cookie grumbles.
A
Yikes. Well, can't wait for chapter two.
B
I mean, that is. Tamar be acting, so.
A
Yeah, she is. She. She gets there. But, you know, Tamar's got a thing.
B
She do. I don't write. It's a couple of different disorders that could be.
A
Not really sure as a person with things.
B
I mean. Just saying. Just saying.
A
Amen.
B
I did see a clip. Somebody had posted a clip of Braxton family values, which is really the gift that keeps on giving.
A
It truly is.
B
And Tony was saying, you know, one thing about my sister. So the Braxtons have made it clear they don't always get along, and that's putting it mildly. But Toni was like, one thing about my sister, she's happy with being infamous instead of famous.
A
I remember that.
B
And I was like, well, that's right.
A
I remember that.
B
That's right. So they was like, yeah. Mm.
A
You know, isn't she the baby Tony, Tamar?
B
Oh, I think so. Yeah. Is Tamar the youngest Braxton? And you know, that mama's a piece of work. They're all of a certain age. And, yeah, she is the youngest.
A
That might be a young. Okay.
B
But they. Yeah. So Tony was born in 67. Tamar was born in 77.
A
Listen.
B
Oh, I see why Tony be fit. Tony said, if I wasn't blood related to these people.
A
She said that, like, three times.
B
She did. She was like, you would never catch me dead in a room with these people if we was not kidding.
A
I mean, that I'm the oldest of all of these siblings. Everybody has these wildly different personalities and needs, wants. Many of us are talented in the gift of. Or the world of song.
B
Right.
A
I'm extra famous, so then that creates these. It's. I. I wanted it the most boundlessness.
B
Yeah. Yeah.
A
Well, Candy ain't got nothing to do then, right?
B
And she was like, yeah. I mean, she could have said, y' all sister don't like you, and that
A
would have been nasty. That wouldn't be ladylike.
B
Right. And the whole. I'm gonna address it now and then. I'm not talking about you again because you Just love it. And the only time anybody's even talking about you is when you talking about me. So if you want to be known for being messy, that's fine. I have a real career, so I won't be in the mud with you. So, yes. Get right together. Kandy, you better.
A
Auntie here, go DJ A1 on the side like Bobby likes.
B
Right?
A
Like, well, chiming in from the audience.
B
Yep.
A
Speaking of housewife of Atlanta calling out a celebrity 1k. Michelle is over the doll Shaboozy. She spoke on the. You know K. Michelle, famed country singer.
B
I was about to say what. I mean, you're so funny. But I didn't even know K. Michelle and Shaboozi knew each other.
A
Well, she's saying that he DMed her at some point, calling her to go and being super friendly, and she would reach out about features and he would not say nothing. Like, he would ghost whenever she would talk about doing a feature. And maybe I. Just get it out now. Just get it out now.
B
That's not the joke. Okay.
A
Yeah. Wait, is Jabuzi also from Tennessee?
B
I thought he was. Oh, never mind. That's Wale.
A
I thought it was from D.C. She said she's talking. Say this like he's from the same place Virginia is where he was born. Oh.
B
So that's. I mean, depending on where in Virginia that might be.
A
The metropolitan area, obviously. I knew his parents are Nigerian, whatever. So, yeah, basically she said that, you know, he don't like black women, and once it. Once that part comes out, it's gonna be over for him anyway. So she's like, I don't need no damn feature from you. This is on the Breakfast Club. Of course. Yes. And that was kind of packaged in. Into this larger conversation she's trying to have about black country musicians often being harsher or what's the word? Like, more toxic.
B
Got you. Okay.
A
MF Two other black country musicians, I guess. And when I heard that, I'm like, well, you're K. Michelle, right? So with all love in the world, kind of like, hey, right, Right. Similar to the Tamar thing, I think maybe it's like, well, here we are.
B
Yeah. Especially because you don't get to be like, oh, every time I mentioned a collab, he would ghost me. But every. And then turn around and be like, I don't need no collab from you. Like, then why the did you keep asking?
A
I had trouble with that, too.
B
Yeah. I'm having a. It's, It's. It's a difficult time in my mind. To make these two things make sense. It don't make sense the fact that he stopped responding after you brought it up the first time? I would have simply never brought it up again.
A
Yeah, I mean, I'm sure her teen, she and her team probably just understand, I guess, like, the political effect of having a shibuzi.
B
Got you.
A
If that makes sense. Because she's getting ready to release her, I guess, her debut.
B
Yeah. Got you. Yes. Shaboozi's having a moment. Right, right, right. Okay, gotcha.
A
But I'm like, if it's given, like, you and, like, black girls anyway type shit, did we not get introduced to a few black ladies in country in the past couple years? Two, three years?
B
Yes, we did.
A
Did you reach out to those individuals?
B
Did you indeed? You know, I kind of have a feeling you kind of, you know, maybe just went for the biggest name that was available, but, I mean, maybe they're
A
on Jesus and whiskey.
B
Is she drinking brown liquor at the Breakfast Club? Okay, so you decided to start your day off with mayhem because then Breakfast Club interviews be at like, 8am Bro,
A
maybe she didn't drink it. Maybe it's just a part of the, like, the aesthetic for the.
B
Oh, yeah, maybe so. Maybe so. Maybe so, like.
A
Cause you're right.
B
Was you on the Breakfast Club wasted?
A
Is that why at 5am Bitch. No way. No way.
B
Right, right. Well, I mean, also, with all due respect to everybody involved, if you told me Shaboozi only dated white women, I would not be at all, not even remotely surprised by that.
A
Not a smidge gag at all.
B
So it's not gonna end. Nothing.
A
Have you not just accepted that as fascinating already?
B
I just assumed. So you. You throwing that out there like it's the big joker when they find out you don't like black women. I think black women actually expect famous black men to date others. I think we. I think we have come to expect that from them, so. Especially a that do country. Yeah. Sorry, girl.
A
Sierra Miller. Romance Rumors.
B
Hold on, Annie. Do not know who that is.
A
The baddest bitch on Bravo. Oh, black girl from Summer House. Her. Remember I talked about her in Atlanta?
B
She had a white boyfriend and he cheated on her with her friend or something. Or they used to be together. Something like that.
A
Yeah.
B
Okay.
A
Oh, it seems like she's like, the lead lady in, I guess, one of his music videos or something like that. That doesn't mean anything to me.
B
Oh, no, that's acting.
A
Yeah.
B
That's his team going, hmm, who's a real popular girl right now around Your age that we could put in this video. Oh, she is beautiful.
A
Love me some Ciara Miller.
B
Oh, she worked in the ICU in Brooklyn during the pandemic.
A
She did.
B
Oh, okay. An American.
A
I was about to say that too.
B
Okay, well, I mean Wikipedia just told me that about her, but Mark girl.
A
So yeah, I guess we'll not be getting any K. Michelle Shabuzzi collabs. Oh no country album. But I'm actually interested to hear what it sounds like because I know she was very passionate and emotional constantly about feeling outside the gate of country music. So wishing you the best, Kelly. Kimberly.
B
That's another one who has a beautiful voice, but don't nobody care.
A
Yikes. So the Sydney Star thing, right? I know. So I haven't gone deep diving into this story because several reasons, but what I have retained from. From it, from what I've read is that she was arrested at like a hotel or a motel somewhere and.
B
Oh shit.
A
Basically charged with sexual assault, rape of a boy. I read on one place under the age of 16 around another place under the age of 15.
B
Yikes.
A
And apparently she's in vulnerable population in the jail at the moment awaiting trial and so forth, I believe. I also read that she is denying allegations and is saying, you know, the whole the truth will come out in time. That's much as I got. I'm far more interested in. In diving into what my black trans sisters have to say about this. First, my only opinion is one that
B
I.
A
I already heard Hope Giselle say this on, on Instagram and I'm sure it's the sentiment of many, which is Sydney Starr is a person and not the community and we know that leagues and leagues of you incredibly foolish, bigoted, idiot, drooly mouth bastards. You, you, you pray and invest in getting stories like this so that you can go see. And first of all, that's not how life works. We've been know how that how that's not how life works across countless different identities, races, so on and so forth. And also look at your administration, look at your daddy, look at your uncle.
B
Oh, oh well.
A
And then I say you deal with that while the government, the legal system deals with Sydney Star.
B
Yeah, so when I saw this, I've never seen. I didn't know who this person was. So I just now found out she was trans two or three minutes ago. I've never seen her on Love and hip hop, never seen her on baddies.
A
Great. You're doing a great job.
B
So I mean these are really terrible allegations, Miss Girl Hate that For you
A
who ruined Chinny's career.
B
Oh, that's her.
A
Yep.
B
Got you. Okay, well, so, yeah, you know, I don't play about kids, so that is really horrible, Miss lady, but if people are using this as an excuse to be transphobic, please chill out because I literally just saw a headline fucking two hours ago of a pastor in Florida who sexually abused a 14 year old boy and exposed him to HIV. A pastor who knowingly sexually assaulted a boy, a teenager. So predators are predators, regardless of everything else. So let's not. Let's not take this Sydney Star thing and turn it into a trans people are predators type situation, because that's absolutely not true. But still extremely disturbing and disgusting. So, yeah, I'm gonna let the justice system handle you. I'm glad. At least they do have a vulnerable population segment of the jail. Especially if she got arrested in Fulton County. I'm shocked Georgia has. I am shocked Georgia has something like that. But you know, that's good because trans people do be at a much higher risk for certain types of violence in jail than other inmates. So. But yeah, girl, this. These charges, sodomy and sexual assault and all this on a little boy.
A
Yeah, no, they gonna have to forever keep you if trees says. I mean.
B
Yeah, yeah, sorry. That's where I draw the line with kids right there. So why you couldn't just be boosting and scamming like every body else.
A
It's all the rank.
B
It is.
A
Let's just move on. Speaking of trans transgender people and the agenda, why don't we talk about one Sophie Maga Barbie Cunningham. Would you like to. I mean, I said the name.
B
I hate her, actually.
A
You sure?
B
I can't stand that demon. But if. If she's part of your lineup, then let's do it.
A
So Sophie Cunningham plays the basketball. Okay. I mean, she plays the basketball for the Fever. I love WNBA team name.
B
Yes. Did you see Cleveland's new team is the Sirens. No, like the mermaid Sirens.
A
That's what I was hoping.
B
Yes, that's what I was hoping.
A
That's what I was hoping.
B
Like the get too close and we'll kill a n Sirens. I said this is actually an incredible name for a team. Oh, God, I'm scared. The. The different options for what the DJ and the team can do in the arena. Like the siren song. Like the saxophones is getting louder when them hoes start to win. Like, immediately my brain started.
A
Black fan.
B
Yes. Oh, my God. They can have so much fun with that.
A
What is their like thingy look like?
B
They just Put out a. A trailer. I don't even know what to call it. They just put out a little teaser video two days ago.
A
It's gorgeous.
B
It is, it is. It's a beautiful video. But I said that name.
A
Okay, well, I like that.
B
Perfect. I love that. Well, chill out because Florida is campaigning to get their own team. So you never know, Miami might bring the. I think they were called the Soul. They might bring the Miami soul back.
A
Well, you just gave it a perfect example of why Florida's hard to root for.
B
Well, yeah.
A
Two minutes.
B
Yeah, yeah.
A
So not in a rush. These bitches have a mermaid in their logo, so.
B
I'm telling you, girl, that's such a great name. It is, it is.
A
The S is a little tail.
B
Yeah, it's good.
A
That's hot. I'm getting merch. Sorry. Anyway, so Sophie Cunningham plays for the Fever. She is a major transphobe, but she's one of those transphobes work lane. She's one of those transphobes that tries to like disguise themselves as well. I love everyone. I am not transphobic. People just make assumptions because I say that trans women are biological men and shouldn't be anywhere near us and shouldn't play sports at all and they suck at the game of life.
B
So.
A
But I don't understand what the issue is. I agree with both sides on things and disagree with both sides on things. I am love and. And I am a light. All I'm saying is I want to protect biological women and girls from the monsters that are like, yeah, girl.
B
Yep, yep. Literally that.
A
Get your lion ass off the fence, bitch.
B
She's trash, mind you. There is not one single trans woman in the WNBA and never has been and it's never even been the slightest of an issue. So what the fuck? Sophie Cunningham is positioning herself for a post career job on Barstool or Fox News or she is going, yes, yes. She has people who don't give one fuck about the WNBA completely tapped in because they are so dedicated to transphobia and acting like this is some huge issue that is rocking the league. We have real going on. This is a non issue trans. So selfie Cunningham, she's really garbage. Like, not even just as a person. She's not even that great of a player. She averages like eight points a game. So we're not finna act like Sophie Cunningham is some superstar. You know, nobody would be paying attention to her if she was not hateful. So I just, I really can't stand her. I've called her maga Basketball Barbie for years. I want her out of this league.
A
Oh, so the girls are catching up to your beat. That's what they're calling her name.
B
I hate her. I truly can't stand this girl. Yes, she sucks. And she. You can't tell me that she is not setting herself up for a very lucrative post WNBA career as being the white cisgender heterosexual. You know, everything they want Caitlyn Clark to be, which, you know, I don't too much see it for that one neither. But she's not outspoken about bigotry like Sophie is. Kailyn's more like, leave me alone, Leave me out of all that. You know, I just came in the hoop. Sophie's like, I have something to say and you are going to hear it. So yeah, she's, she's setting herself up to be the right wings, you know, female athlete of choice.
A
And so no, she should probably make way more money doing.
B
She absolutely will. Because again, basketball is not really her thing. She is a zero time champion, zero time all star.
A
And they just lost to the Links.
B
Oh, oh. And that was a great game. Oh, when I tell you, first of all, even too much. Well, I mean I have a lot of respect for the Lynx. A lot. And for Cheryl. And shout out to their coach, Cheryl Reeve, because she wore. They knew. She knew they was playing that evil ass team with that terrible ass winch, Sophie Cunningham on it. And so she wore a trans kids belong shirt because she. Right, because she knew. Because she knew. And even the on air commentators were like, yeah, you know, go, go check out things in support of trans people. Because this whole conversation is really ridiculous and the way y' all are acting behind this is insane. But anyway, yeah, so Sophie Cunningham is getting ready to do to, to launch her. Her true career. As soon as she's done pretending to play basketball. She hit one shot and was like doing finger guns and shit. Bitch, you have three points. She sucks.
A
Speaking of Caitlin Clark and dodging these things, that's exactly what the black fuck she did after they lost to Minnesota.
B
Babe, I tell you, this is.
A
When asked about Sophie Cunningham's statements, Caitlin Clark said, it's not really a discussion we have in our locker room. I think it's for leagues and governing bodies to work with their athletes to find solutions. Our focus on basketball, that's what we talk about. How it's just. And obviously we did not do that tonight. So we need to find an area to improve in that way. And someone asked someone again, like right after she said that, said something about like, do you. So you don't have a reaction to this? And she quickly said, I just answered for you. Boom.
B
What I just tell you?
A
No, Caitlyn said, I'm not coming out as MAGA yet.
B
You have to give me some time. I'm not ready.
A
Yeah, leave me alone about that bitch. We don't even know her. I'd be forgetting she play on the team, Right? So.
B
No, she finna start pissing off the right wing. They finna start being like, now, why won't Caitlin Clark speak up about trans women in sports? Because there are zero trans women in the wnba. And as far as I know, only two players have ever come out as trans or non binary, like, in the history of the league. It's a non issue. Like Caitlyn said, I don't even. This don't even come up in the locker room because what the fuck are you talking about?
A
Watch it.
B
Yeah, because what the fuck are you talking about? So, no, I'm not finna.
A
Well, wrapping it up here with one more story about a WNBA star. 1 Brittney Griner has filed for divorce from her wife of eight years. This is another Fulton county headline because she filed the documents there last week. Thursday, July 30th. And apparently she and. Sherrell.
B
Yes, Cheryl. Sherrell.
A
Sherrell. They'd been separated since July 24th. I love that they wrote this shit down here as if it was like, oh, they've been separated since July of last year.
B
No, they've been separated.
A
So they've been separated for about a week and a half.
B
Yeah, that's exactly what.
A
Yeah. I read that Britney says in her divorce petition that the relationship is irretrievably broken and that she's filing for joint custody of the baby.
B
Thoughts? Well, you know, it's always sad when a marriage ends. Well, not always, but true. Let me. Let me be more careful with my words.
A
Yeah.
B
I have personally been waiting for this day for a long time.
A
Yeah.
B
Because I have had to keep it so cute since she got married.
A
Yeah.
B
So I'm looking forward to publicly thirsting over BG again.
A
Yeah.
B
But I. I'm glad to see she's filing for joint custody of this baby, that she's taking care of this one. Sounds like, you know, they were really all in on having this one together. But also, you know, there's been a lot of conversation about, damn, BG is wrong, how I'm going to advocate for you to get out of Russian prison, and then you turn around and leave me two years after you get Out. And, you know, first of all, tell
A
that to Remy Ma. Damn. She just called out Papoose by name. You know, I don't buy it.
B
Exactly. So I love that you brought that up, actually, because I didn't think of that. But that's such a great example, you know, my personal feelings about BG being so fine and truly, I deserve. Anyway, putting all that aside.
A
Yeah.
B
A person. I say this all the time. People don't owe you. Like, staying with you out of some sense of obligation. Like, if the marriage is not working, it's not working. If y' all are better apart, then you should be apart no matter what, you know, one of us has done for the other, or vice versa. Now, I don't, you know, obviously out
A
at the center of it.
B
I'm not privy to their relationship. I don't know the ins and outs, their dynamics at all. But, yeah, you know, it happens. And I wouldn't be surprised if she came back from Russia and, you know, tried to get back into life and the things that they had planned together, but has changed because you have been traumatized by your experience, you know, in a. In a. An international prison. I don't know. I don't know what the circumstances are. It might just be cuz the Tik Toks are saying, damn, bg, you really out here with two baby mamas and three kids. Goddamn. It's like, well, you know, they said the wnba, as soon as y' all get a real check, here y' all go making kids and leaving women. Like, maybe, Man, I don't know. All I know is that when it's my turn, I will not waste it.
A
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
B
I'm. Be real.
A
I agree completely. I mean, that sense of loyalty that I think a lot of you people who don't know them are getting at is. Is separate of whatever their experience at home has been. Yes, it could have. Absolutely. It really could just be them coming to a point where they're realizing they are not compatible anymore. They have a kid at the center of this that needs to be in a healthy environment with healthy parents that can provide for that. Like, all of these things considered, we're supposed to be like, well, I will look over all of the madness and mayhem and the destruction of our relationship because you held it down when I was locked up.
B
I mean, that's exactly what I would expect your legal spouse to do.
A
Thank you.
B
If the shoe had been on the other foot and it was Shirelle in prison, I would have expected BG to do everything that Shirelle did to get her out. And also, please do not force yourself to stay with me because you think you supposed to. Please don't. Oh, my God, bro. Yes, my feelings will be hurt, but just leave. I'll be all right.
A
Like, girl, just go. I will be fine.
B
Especially because BG coming up off of that child support. Okay. She coming up off of that spousal
A
support, so I didn't even think about that. I need to think about that.
B
Oh, yeah, I'm fine. These new WNBA contracts. Yeah, I'm good. Huh. Divorce. Okay. All right, well, your lawyer will speak to my lawyer. Girl. Ttyl.
A
I didn't even think that they were doing the Remy Ma. I didn't even consider they were trying to Remy her.
B
Oh, yes. Oh, Well, I was about to say you haven't seen these videos, but I see why. I have been getting tab.
A
Yeah.
B
People emailed me. I'm like, you think I didn't see this?
A
I read this headline and I heard the circle of life in the bathroom. I said, well, today is the day the Lord made for me.
B
I said, wow. I really. Because, you know, once the girls are married, I back off.
A
You have been so respectful.
B
I really have. Thank you. And it's been years, but many they that wait upon the Lord, You shall renew their strength.
A
Come on.
B

We are back ladies and gentlemen. We're about to get into your Listen letters. I forgot about one hot dog. Did you see Rihanna throwing that ass back on her band prop over and then posting my ex in the studio on Instagram?
B
Okay, so I saw the video of throwing ass. I did not see this. My ex.
A
I didn't see that there's a guy standing right behind.
B
Oh okay.
A
When she's dancing on him. Who keeps looking over his shoulder in this like I'm peeping but I don't want to say type way. And she put over his face my ex in the studio. Oh, Drake.
B
Okay, I get it now. Oh, she's funny. I they nasty and I see why. I see why that man was looking like that because I do think I would like to watch. But yeah, why would she post this crossover? Why would she post this zoomed in close up shot of that?
A
That's what I'm saying. Diabolical.
B
Absolutely nothing wrong with that girl. I love her.
A
Me too. Having a great time out there.
B
Yeah.
A
Okay, so we're back. It's time for your letters.
B
Indeed. Send your questions to Ask the read@gmail.com. we may read them aloud on the show. Our first letter is from Akasha.
A
The answer who says I know what that one's about.
B
This question is for Kid Fury, but hi Crystal as well. K. I remember you mentioning the movie they will kill you on the podcast before it came out. That's actually how I found out about it. Couldn't make one of the few show times in theaters, but I finally watched it on streaming and I wanted to thank you for telling us about it. It's funny though, because five minutes in I almost turned it off. I like a thriller, but there are some things I don't like to see and I don't. And I wasn't sure where things were going, but I'm glad I kept watching. I thought the movie was so fun and Zayzy was amazing. Did you ever get the chance to watch? If so, what are your thoughts? We may never get the Kill Bill 3 movie featuring Vivica's daughter, but this kind of scratched that itch for me a little bit. And hopefully this drives more people to support the film because I love a black femme action star. Signed Akasha, the answer.
A
Okay, so I definitely thought that was going to be about the vampire Lestat and Queen of the Dams just because of the name. Oh, but did you ever watch Queen of the Damned with Ilia in it?
B
Did not.
A
Fair enough. I haven't seen this movie yet.
B
Okay.
A
I'm pretty sure it's streaming on like HBO Max or Peacock or something, so I can definitely go watch it. It's on a list. I'm just behind on many, many, many, many things.
B
Yeah, same.
A
So I will check it out because I too have every desire to get into the story of a black woman doing actiony things. But I guess also has like a supernatural element to it or a horror element to it? I don't know.
B
Yes, she said something about it being a thriller, but that it got. I took out some spoilers that she put in here just in case you or other people hadn't seen it. But yeah, she said about five minutes in, it got extremely strange. And so like, where are we going with this?
A
So maybe I'll watch that this weekend.
B
Okay, thank you, Akasha. Our next letter comes from Slim who says, I'm a 31 year old black man in Atlanta and I have a dilemma in my very early twenties.
A
I'm sorry. Too easy.
B
I was in a five year on and off relationship with a guy named Mike. Mike was in law school when I met him and I was smitten. We traveled a lot and he introduced me to a lot of new experiences. Unfortunately, over time I also found out Mike was an arrogant son of a bitch who had problems keeping his dick in his pants more often than I would like. He was musty, but honestly, I wasn't a saint either. So when it eventually came to an end, there was no hate or bad blood. It was just over. Fast forward six years and Mike DM me one day and said he was getting married and he'd like to invite me and a plus one to attend the wedding. Seeing as I long ago found better dick and let go of any distaste I had for Mike, I happily agreed. Plus, I love getting dressed up and I've never been one to turn down free food in an open bar. The problem is all my friends and family hate Mike and they were thrilled when we broke up. So instead of asking any of them to go with me, I decided to ask my boyfriend of almost two years, Roland. My relationship with Roland has been amazing. We do everything together, he's fine as hell, and apart from the general irritations of living with a, we haven't had any real issues. You know, regular ways get on your nerves. So imagine my surprise when I asked Roland and he immediately got mad at me. He said, I thought you hated Mike and then asked me why the hell I would want to go to my ex's wedding anyway. To which I responded, damn, I can't just be happy for that nigga. Well, apparently that was not the correct answer because Roland stormed out. And he didn't speak to me for the rest of the day. The next morning he came to me and said he thinks it's disrespectful. Disrespectful that I even want to go and even more disrespectful that I wanted to parade him in front of my ex, trying to prove that I moved on or make him jealous. This threw me off because while I admit that Mike wasn't that much of a looker and Roland basically sparkles when the sunlight hits him, this ain't about rolling. Plus, Mike has been watching my Instagram stories for years, so he already knows that I'm with Roland and he asked me to bring a plus one. So clearly they just inviting anybody. And I don't see what the big deal is now. Part of me don't even want to go at all anymore. But this nigga telling me that I can't is not sitting well with me at all. What should I do? Any advice would be helpful. Love you guys and the show. Thanks, Slim. Obsessed.
A
Well, then you can't. He's not gonna tell me I can't do a fuck thing. So I don't know where that portion of this. It sounded like Rolu was just overall upset that you wanted to go and that you wanted to bring him with you.
B
Right.
A
But I'm do whatever the fuck I want to do, you know, as a law abiding citizen most of the time. I guess I understand you saying or feeling like this has nothing to do with ex Mike and you're not going, you know, with the intent to, like, prove a point or parade him around. I believe that you got a plus one. Why wouldn't you bring a nigga, right? You already know that you have a man, yada, yada. At the same time, like, why you want to go to your musty ex boyfriend's wedding in the first places, you know? I mean, like, sure, you can be happy for him. I don't think you have to go to his wedding to be happy for him. Unless you truly want to go, which would be fine. Now, when your new nigga says that he doesn't want to go and he don't understand why you want to go, I think I would have just been like, fair enough.
B
I mean. But yeah. Yeah, okay.
A
I also think his reaction, like, I don't think that what you described here was worth an argument or storming out of any place. So I don't think it's a big deal that you wanted to go, but I. I just don't see how this turned into, like, an argument. The boyfriend, maybe Roland, is insecure about something.
B
Yeah, that's what it sounds like. Because to me, if we broke up six years ago, right? Like, that is an eternity, especially for gays. Six. And. And like, Genuinely broke up. Like, don't fuck no more. None of that in six years, girl. I don't know. I'm also just not a very jealous person. So if my partner was like, hey, do you want to go to my ex's wedding? And I said, oh, well, why do you want to go? And they said, well, I'd like to get dressed up, and it's free food in an open bar. I would be like, well, actually, you make excellent points. Yeah, let's.
A
Facts.
B
Why wouldn't I? Yeah, let's go get them a blender or whatever off they registry that y' all broke up six years ago. Me and you only been together two years. Like, I know I'm. I'm kind of nonchalant about a lot of things, and y' all might be like, nah, that's not a. I find a lot of the times, stuff that I think is okay, other people do not think is okay. Candles and. And all. So I just would not. I also don't see the big deal in going to this wedding. And it seems to me that Roland would have had an attitude if you didn't invite him, too. It's kind of like you was gonna lose no matter what, whether you invited your man or not. Cause imagine being like, oh, well, I didn't ask you if you wanted to go to the wedding because I know how you are about shit like this. Or, you know, you would have been like, oh, I thought you hated Mike. There was no way to win in this scenario. So. Yeah. You also can't tell me that I can't go, but, yeah, that's ridiculous. Unless there's some additional context here that you're not telling us, Slim. Like, did you fuck around with Mike? Do you still bring Mike up all the time? Do you actually have feelings for Mike? And you kind of writing this like you don't, but, you know you do. Like, unless it's something sneaky.
A
That would be wild.
B
Right? I mean, and you never know, because sometimes people write us letters, and then the next week somebody else write in and be like, that bitch. Left out 80% of the context.
A
I love when that happens.
B
Hey, that is the best.
A
Yeah.
B
Otherwise. Yeah. I mean, is it worth having, like, a fight in your relationship? I don't think so. I also don't think it should be a fight, though.
A
Like, right.
B
I. Is. Is the excuse of I want to dress up and party. Like, I like weddings, I like receptions, I like. I like parties. I do. I like to go party. I like to go socialize and be around people. And like, I find that to be fun after the.
A
The lengthy boring portion of a wedding. It does.
B
Oh, yeah, no, the ceremony is boring, but the reception's great.
A
Yeah,
B
Especially, oh, lord, you in your nature weddings. And we outside, it's mosquitoes. And you're like, oh, mosquitoes, don't let the sun be directly overhead. But, you know, you wrap the ceremony up 30, 45 minutes and then you go party for the rest of the night. So. Yeah,
A
I agree.
B
I think my partner of two years, if they were that against it, I probably would just send my regrets, but I would.
A
I mean, you need to have like a larger conversation with your partner.
B
I mean. Yes, because, like, why does it bother you this much? Because am I crazy for being like, who cares? I dated that six years ago. You know how many boyfriends I've had since then or people I've slept with since then?
A
Like, and we're not invited to his sex dungeon. He getting married.
B
Right. And you know, maybe this is like my partner's insecurities and well, I've been through situations before where did something like this and they were sleeping with their ex and blah, blah. So like, maybe you do want to be sensitive to that. I don't know, you just, you, you just kind of gotta sit down and talk to him about it. But ain't nobody gonna put their foot down and tell me outright that I can or can't do nothing. That's where. Right. Because what I can do is leave you alone. So please, girl, you don't have to be a part of this. So we not gonna do that.
A
Yeah, I'm also like that. If my was like, oh, do you want to go to my ex's wedding that I broke up with six years ago, hell, all the time, and does not look as good as you?
B
Yes, let's go.
A
And let's bet sounds like a messy good time. Let's open bar.
B
Let's bet on whether he's musty at the wedding.
A
Right? Let's have fun.
B
Yes. Let's do one of them head ass couples outfits where we coordinating with the same color tie or whatever. Like, let's. Let's go all in and. And let's have a good time. I just don't think this is that big of a deal, but.
A
Me neither.
B
Your mileage may vary. Best of luck to you, slim. Okay, so there's you. You can pick the last one. We have a question from a white woman living around black people or a straight woman who has found a guy she really likes, except One very important physical thing is off.
A
Both of these are so tantalizing.
B
What do you think I have to
A
hear this white woman.
B
Okay.
A
And what she has to say.
B
Ms. Heterosexual, you'll. You'll be up first next week. As for right now though, our next and final letter comes from Sarah, who says hi Crystal and Kid Fury. It would be Sarah. Both of you have lived in apartments for quite some time and I'm looking for advice. I'm 35 and somehow I've gotten through almost 18 years of apartment living with no kids as my immediate neighbors. Well, that all changed two weeks ago. A family with two kids moved into the apartment above mine. One tween and one around five. In the evenings it's running, kids yelling, the TV blaring, toys making noise, people talking loud enough to be heard over the TV and the toys, etc.
A
Damn.
B
Obviously the long term solution is to move and I was already saving up for a house down payment. But until then, do you have any tips to cope? I am a homebody who really values chilling in my own space and doing my hobbies like knitting and cross stitch. And yes, I am a grandma. I've got a good pair of noise canceling headphones already and I have a good white noise app to use with my bluetooth speaker. I've also already asked the family twice to please turn down the volume after 1am Jesus. And I suggested they get an area rug for the TV room. But but optics to consider. I am a white woman, the family is black with a single mom, everyone else in the building is white and we live in a majority white farm town in Massachusetts. One of the other people in the building has already left them a low key racist note saying this isn't the ghetto, don't treat it like it is. Which yeah, that's actually high key racist. But basically they're already dealing with more shit than they should be and I don't want to pile more on if it can all be helped. Thank you so much. Love this show. Sarah.
A
Sarah.
B
Gosh.
A
Well, you know what, Sarah? Kudos and agali g for checking yourself and understanding your space, their space, your privilege. And considering that while dealing with the fact that Ms. Rachel is booming at 1:30,
B
that took me out because what do you mean you gotta ask niggas to keep it down after 1am Wildness. Oh my God, are you over here like I don't wanna be that white woman. I don't. But it's 1am
A
Fuck. Ah, it's tricky. I think though, I if this Is tricky.
B
I.
A
My initial thought is to try to not necessarily make friends with them, but to be warm. Try to be like, friendly. Be like a cool neighbor.
B
Yes, at first.
A
So I think that could possibly do two things. One, make them feel like they have someone in the building who can feel safe and supportive. That can feel like an outlet, possibly. And I think that can also give you the opportunity to communicate with them about how you're feeling without it just feeling like someone is trying to come up to them and tell them what to do and make them feel uncomfortable in this new space that they're in. No, I say it's tricky because with us, it might not matter how you come over and saying, yeah, nice in between.
B
Yeah.
A
Sometimes we just don't want to hear shit at all.
B
Yeah. Yeah.
A
However, asking for peace and quiet past 1am child is not unreasonable anyway.
B
No, it's not. And unfortunately, like you said you could. Because the only other thing I was going to add is sometimes with black people, you need to make sure you're asking instead of telling. Especially with you. Why.
A
Right.
B
You need to come and be like, would you mind if. Or can I help you with. Or is it okay if. Or can I ask you to like, just making sure you come in at an extra polite. But sometimes people not gonna care. And at the same time, Sarah, if it was my black ass at 1am and I'm hearing children doing cartwheels all over the living room and like, TV blasting and toys and all like, yeah, yeah, it's. It's not unreasonable, but
A
it is.
B
It's another layer here that makes it complicated. Is that like, we're talking about housing, which is a need, you know, this is not right. This is not, oh, my kid is acting up in Toys R Us or whatever. Like, this is housing. This is something that actually matters. And I wouldn't want to be the one to complain nonstop and get people put out of their place either. But.
A
Yeah,
B
maybe. No, never mind. I was gonna say maybe you buy them an area rug, but what if they don't like it? It don't go with the. They might feel like that's patronizing or condescending.
A
Exactly.
B
Clearly you need some help with a rug because I suggested it three weeks ago and you still ain't bought one. So. Yeah, maybe not that, but at the same time, I'm a. I'mma go upstairs at. I mean, I'm not waiting till 1am past.
A
Right.
B
1am is not on a weeknight past 11, 11:30. I'm going upstairs and I'M knocking on the door. Hi, I am so sorry to bother you. I know it's late. I'm just having some trouble sleeping. Do you guys mind keeping it down? I have to work in the morning or whatever. Like I'm gonna approach you politely and I think Kiff, your suggestion of like just being a good neighbor, not only talking to them when you have an issue, but like, right? White people love to like not really look us in the eyes or not really speak to us when they see us passing by. Almost like they wish they didn't see us. So make sure you look the mama in the eyes, look at the children, smile at them, say hello when you pass them by, you know, again, so they see you as like a neighbor. Like, oh, this is somebody who doesn't hate us for simply being black and living in the building.
A
As soon as you have a fucking neighbor who's talking about, this ain't the ghetto, I'd find whoever that is and cuts her the fuck out, right?
B
And she put in parentheses, it's probably my bitch ass downstairs neighbor. But that's a different question. So you. If you. Yeah, I this you stuck between a rock and a hard place. Keep saving up for that. That's tricky for that down payment on your own home. But you know, you catch more flies with honey, but you catch the most with. So. Well, actually don't maybe don't mind you. You figure it out.
A
I have never heard that saying.
B
Oh no.
A
In my.
B
I just made it up. I just made it up. I just countered my own argument.
A
I think you should trade her. That is. That was so fierce. I was getting ready to ask if that was if that's like an old saying.
B
No. Well, I mean if it is, I just scratched up out my DNA. I don't think so. But anyway.
A
Agreed, ma'. Am.
B
Yeah, yeah, a tough situation, but best of luck. And you know, being a nice person. Even though they're loud. Like, I'm pretty sure that lady knows that her 12 year old and her 5 year old are loud. But she's probably an overworked single mom trying to do her best to like just keep herself at her children house.
A
So a little kindness for them to have a bedtime. I mean, why wouldn't you?
B
Like if do you have to work at night? Do you need me to keep an ear out for the children? Like, what is it? How can I be a good neighbor? But that's hard. Cause my black ass. Oh my Girl, girl, girl, you and these kids buildings.
A
This building's noise. What's it called Curfew? Oh, yeah, it's 10pm it's 10pm and
B
do you know what time it is right now?
A
10pm and I will give the girls grace if I can hear you up until midnight. Yeah, same, because I don't want to be that girl.
B
Right?
A
1201. No, this ain't Studio 54.
B
It's time for everybody to put their headphones on. If you must be awake, it is time. The loud music, loud TVs, toys that people in the building can hear, all of that is over. It's over. Time to go to bed.
A
The people I'm talking about, no children. So if that's how you feel, bitch, you need to go out. Yeah, like you need to go to the club.
B
Yeah, this is. This is too much. All right, we're gonna wrap the letters up right there. Again, if you have a question for us, send us an email. Asktheread gmail.com we're going to take another quick break, and then we'll be right back.
A

I'll begin by saying one. Wow. So y' all really just go clean up all the Cleveland sirens merch right before I even. Like, I didn't even get a chance. All the ones I want sold out already. That is ridiculous. Wow. Nike siren, blueprint, primary logo, crew neck. First of all, $85, so y' all vote. Um, like, that one's gone. The hats are all on pre order. Y' all make me sick. But it's fine. My day will come.
B
I mean, they're not even starting until 2028, so you do have time, which is ridiculous.
A
Then why don't I get one just
B
to give them a minute.
A
This logo is fierce. It is colors fierce.
B
I'm telling you. I'm excited. This is. The name is so good.
A
It's so good.
B
You can do so much.
A
Oh, Cleveland, it's so good. Look at all these black people on the. On the website.
B
Yeah, yeah. And the A2s.
A
Oh, I'm into it. Yeah. Okay, That's. That's that. And I also just wanted to say to all of you, the ICE agents who are sneaking and crawling and skittering over to domestic departure gates and airports like LAX and other ones, to hogtie and arrest and drag out people's uncles, aunties, children, and things like that. So you had a shit life and a shit existence and a shit upcoming, and you decided, I really would love to be a stormtrooper. I'd love to be an orc from Lord of the Rings. I'd love to be a rat catcher from Westeros. You are an absolute peon for some of the dumbest outside asses of all living history. What happened or didn't happen for you to put on a crew neck that you got from, I guess, the Salvation army? Because they hateful and said, you know what? I'm going undercover because if there's one thing I love is falling asleep to some dick wolf. I am like, you bitches are bums. You bitches are the fucking Gestapo. You bitches are fucking, like, actual evil. And I think that I was saying this earlier. I think we were talking about Sophie Maga, Barbie, Fox News, Cunningham. The height and peak of hatred Taking over and really like excelling, thriving. The way that it is today. It almost feels supernatural in nature. It almost feels like the devil is like, well, why not? I'm bored.
B
Damn.
A
So let me just seep all of the chaos into the world as possible. Let me just open the floodgates for ridiculousness and evil to take place. Because all of these bitches suck anyway and many of these motherfuckers are evil. So let me just give them the space and opportunity. I don't even have to possess them. I just have to let them just feel confident. I just have to allow them to feel bold enough to use words like over educated when talking about other non hateful, bigoted white people who just feel like, I don't know, trans people deserve the same rights as everyone else. You know, kids should be able to have healthy things.
B
Yeah.
A
It shouldn't cost bone marrow to purchase a man, right? You bitches are now thriving in a world where you get to be stupid and hateful and get a cybertruck. Okay? And it truly sucks to be you.
B
It does.
A
It sucks to be you. Because you might feel like your hate is in fashion right now. Older, bigger, wider than you. But if I may woo woo for a second.
B
Oh Lord,
A
hate can't beat love.
B
Oh,
A
hate can never hate cannot overpower actual love. Now maybe some of our access to love of others and love of self has shifted as well. But when the girls tap into just basic love, even from a human, like a mutual human respect level, right? Then you look at people who are crawling through lax, like I said to lock up somebody for no ass reason. Wow, aren't you a fucking dumbass? Aren't you a major like bold, outside fucking idiot?
B
Yeah, aren't you a horrible person?
A
Don't you fucking suck?
B
And they do and they do.
A
So yes, right now, shame is not for sale anywhere. Shame seems to be completely sold out, especially in the west over here right now. But it doesn't mean that it doesn't exist and it doesn't mean that it won't come back around much like Y2K fashion, I believe we're gonna get back there and you're gonna have to live with the fact that you dressed up like Tim Allen in Home Improvement to go and waste everybody's time. Safety, peace and freedom.
B
Wow.
A
For somebody and some bodies that can't wait to strip you naked and leave you outside with nothing. You should be fucking humiliated. You should be humiliated. You went down to the nearest Office Depot and filled out a one page pamphlet and now you're considered a. An agent of something.
B
Oh, my God. You ain't shit, bitch. You never were.
A
You seeking validation from a ridiculous evil organization made by a ridiculous evil bitch. And he legitimately looks like Jabba the Hutt. I've said this a million times. You want to be stormtroopers, but you can't be, because Stormtroopers were cool. And that's something you'll never even as bad guys. They were cool.
B
Oh, they're bad guys. That's right.
A
Yeah.
B
Yeah. I didn't know that.
A
Well, eventually, they're bad guys. Yeah, we're not going to get in Star wars lore because whatever they eventually do.
B
Gotcha.
A
Become bad guys. But initially, they fight for good. Even larger example. Like, you really just wanted to be a crone, to be like a. A crony?
B
A crony.
A
I mean, I think a crone is a witch.
B
I mean, I don't know. I have no idea. But I. I'm picking up what you're putting down. Yeah. Yeah.
A
When I'm putting you down as fuck y', all, I wish you nothing but the worst.
B
Oh, Lord, I'm done. Okay, first of all, Mitch McConnell's dead. Let's stop with the shenanigans. That man is dead fully. He's dead. And he's dead four weeks. And yeah, now that the deadline has passed to where they don't have to run another special election to replace him, and they can just kind of shoehorn somebody in there, I expect this death announcement to probably be coming out in the next week. But that. That bitch is gone. And ding dong, the bitch is dead as far as I'm concerned. I really can't believe Lindsey Graham is the one who went first, but I'm not. Not mourning that bitch either. Anyway, wrap up this Mitch McConnell shit. Number two. Beyonce, you Creole goddamn demon.
A
What now?
B
So I was up at 3am because this is why Lainey is home today. She's not feeling well. She's having an upset stomach. Yes. And she had me up all night. I did not go to bed till almost 5, but Christ. Yes.
A
So I was awake my YouTube days.
B
So I was awake at 3am Eastern when Beyonce hopped on her burner. The Parkwood account.
A
Oh, no.
B
And posted Morning Dew Donk remix pack.
A
Oh, I saw this, but I thought. I didn't process the remix. So I was like, she dropped this song weeks ago. What are y' all talking?
B
Yeah, no, it's a Packer remixes. There's an acoustic version that I really love, a Donk mix, and the one that Is actually. So when I tell you this blew my shit, the remix with Jay Z. Because you know Beyonce, at first I'm like, oh, okay, what is it? Her husband jump on the track? Like, okay, no, Beyonce never does that. When she remixes it, she gives you a whole new goddamn song. When I tell you it samples between the Sheets and Dunk and Mo Bamba. That. Yes. So all. All of that is in this. And then Jay Z comes on and. Anyway. Anyway. So good. So fucking good. Chaotic, but it sounds incredible. It's. I just love it. And, you know, this time I happened to be awake. You. You Creole temptress. But what be possessing you, Beyonce legit. Do you just be at home?
A
Why does she do it at the end of the night?
B
You checking on all the kids. You checking on the twins, baby monitor. Blue Ivy is, you know, in the lab with NASA or some shit, and she's like, you know what?
A
I was bored, right?
B
So I decided to ruin lunch. Like, you just do this in the middle of the night, Beyonce. So, you know, Delulu Hive, tap in. It's time for a fresh new batch of conspiracies and. And hints and suggestive things, etc.
A
I. Oh, God.
B
Is she doing all this just because she likes to. Is it like, you know, 7 11, where she's just gonna put the out and, you know, it's just a fun song? Or are we supposed to be. Is she trying to get us off of these rumors of Act 3 being Rock? And is it actually going to be a return to R B? Is it going to be an album full of nasty R B songs to. To. What is it?
A
It could be.
B
It could be. And it could be explicit. Like, this is. You know, Jay Z is nasty. You know, this is. The verse is nasty.
A
So I don't know if I'm ready for this.
B
I don't know if I am either. Like. And R and B is kind of like. I mean, Beyonce obviously can do it, so it kind of feels like these acts have been her taking on genres that official or that historically weren't considered ours, even though everything comes from us. So, yeah, I don't really think that's it. But, you know, me and Delulu Hive, we. We're. We're discussing it. We're discussing it, and we're keeping an eye on things as they develop.
A
I cannot believe you all are discussing it now.
B
I mean. I mean, well, we're doing it through my third eye, but we are. We're going back and forth about it. But, yeah, Beyonce, you not low. You be on that Parkwood. I know it's you. I know it's you, Beyonce. I know it.
A
It's true.
B
I know you did this girl.
A
It is exactly what you just described.
B
God, she's so good.
A
Got the twins in bed.
B
Yes.
A
Comfy? Comfy. Then she looks around, she's like, you know what it.
B
I haven't agitated them people in a while. And you know what it is? August 4th. Why don't I do something on the 4th? Because I put out the morning due on July 4th, so why wouldn't I do this on August 4th? And just keep in the last wee minutes of August 4th on the west coast, hear this bitch go, what is
A
nine, four gonna be? Oh, God. Beyonce.
B
Her fucking birthday. Her fucking birthday.
A
Why do you do this? Why do you do this? Why do you do this, though?
B
That's what I said. But, hi, we're in it. We're locked in.
A
And all we can do is just sit down and shut the fuck up and wait. Like there's nothing.
B
You know, you just have to. Y' all thought y' all knew what she was up to with that. Dropped it on the 24th. And the last 24th of the month of the year is in May and all this. And she said, gotcha, bitch.
A
What is her problem?
B
This is what I'm saying. Like, you. Thank you, Beyonce. You keep life fun.
A
And now I'm like, okay, girl, you might need to go ahead and make sure that you tapped into shit at 4:00 in the morning, like, until I'm
B
fully on the east coast. If my child wasn't sick all night, I. I would not have seen this until, you know, like, you. Why do you do this? Why do you do this? You know, everybody sleep like, you know, you know it. And you just. You just hop on Parkwood. Heh heh heh. How you guys feeling? Y' all asleep?
A
Oh, don't be for sure if you not sleep. I mean, for sure. When you wake up. Yeah, it's gonna be. Oh, my God, our days just started today, right? She want to make sure everybody wake up.
B
And the acoustic version is so pretty. Oh, my God, it's so good. But you know, Beyonce be. She don't just be putting out. Like, if she said it's a remix, it's going to be a new song.
A
Yeah, I love when the girls are remixing.
B
Yes, right?
A
Like actually making a remix.
B
Cuz at first I'm like, okay, this is cute. And then all of a sudden, the different samples coming in, and I said, wait a minute. Now what are we doing? It's so good. Yes. Just wait till you hear it. It's so good.
A
Doing beyond. Okay, okay, I'm gonna breathe. Whatever it is, I'm there.
B
Yeah. Next up, did you see this video that Mario Lopez posted of his niece? No. So Mario Lopez posted and then deleted an AI Video of his niece at a Dodgers game. So I guess they really did go to a Dodgers game a few days ago on August 2nd. And, you know, it was just like a normal post. Then this video went up on the fourth, I think either the third or the fourth. Like, just a couple of days later. And it's A.I. it's obviously A.I. it's like, A.I. slop. It's not good. And he's like, here we are at the game or whatever, and then all of a sudden, this niece, who I think is 19 years old, is, like, trying to eat two hot dogs at once, and there's relish and mustard all over her face. And the. And then Mario Lopez is like, oh, my God, I can't take you anywhere. Look at you. The mustard. And she's like, it's so good. And she's smearing mustard and relish all over herself, and it's like, oh, my God. What the am I looking at here? No, for real. And then it was deleted. And then a few different news stories reached out to his people or organizations reached out to his people. Like, what the is this? And ain't nobody replied yet. Nobody said, oh, well, he was hacked and posted this, which is the first thing I thought I said. Why would Mario Lopez. Was he hacked? Because. Why would you do this? And yet nothing. No, no, the teammate said nothing. It's just been crickets over there. So now my question is, why would Mario Lopez post an AI Video of his niece behaving in that way? Why would you. Yeah, why would you ask it to create that video? Why would you save that to your device? Why would you post it? Apparently, he posted on Twitter and Instagram. What? Why?
A
Okay.
B
Of your niece with these two hot dogs. Like, the. The innuendo is heavy in the video, I'm.
A
I'm assuming.
B
So what is. I. What are you doing? What are you doing? A.C. slater.
A
Definitely, definitely run with hacked.
B
Oh. I mean, it was. It was extremely disturbing. And what was also disturbing was this video of Perez Hilton self harming on TikTok Live or whatever that was. And I was like, right. I also am not gonna look at that. But Perez Hilton, you have. When he. A few months ago, when he was doing this whole Religious thing. And deciding that he was going in that direction, I said, yeah, it won't be too long for some shit about you come out. So I wouldn't be shocked if, you know, there was some additional mess there. But I guess we'll see how that story develops. Last but not least, you assholes who started this petition for Mayor Mamdani to stay away from the September 11th memorial services. Are y' all out of your goddamn minds?
A
I heard about that.
B
These people are. I mean, they are using every way to say this, other than that's a Muslim, and how dare a Muslim be part of this when the terrorists were Muslim. Ignoring all of the many, many terrorist attacks that happen on American soil on a regular basis by Christians or people who identify as Christians against other Christians. Like it's. Y' all are. It's it. To act like this is anything other than Islamophobia is quite insane. And, yeah, I don't care if you don't like him. He's the mayor of New York City. If he didn't. If he wasn't there, it would be a much, much bigger problem. Y' all are talking. Y' all are talking about. This man has endorsed Muslim candidates. And he. We. We're supposed to be coming together in solidarity for the victims. And this man is. We just have questions about his public associations and responses to different rhetoric that we feel is. Blah, girl, womp, womp, womp. Y' all don't like Muslims. Y' all are holding the events of 911 against all Muslims as if that makes one shred of sense, knowing that it don't and knowing that you would be even more angry if he came out and was like, yeah, that I don't care. You know, the jihadist forever or whatever. Zoran was nine and a New Yorker like Jesus. Like, you know who really pissed me off? Patricia Heaton.
A
Why?
B
That's actually what brought this to my attention, because she was in a headline about this story. She reposted it on Twitter and said, keep going, New Yorkers. And I was like, not Ray Barone's wife. Not old girl from the Middle. I said, patricia Heaton. Yeah. So then I had to go look it up. Oh, child in her bio. Christian wife, mom non imbibing bourbon lovers. Zio Boomer. Zio Boomer.
A
Wow.
B
I said, oh, so you.
A
Both of her titties, bitch.
B
Okay. She said title first. Diving into it, Keke said, no, I rewatched the Middle all the time. Now Everybody Loves Raymond aged horribly. God damn.
A
Yeah, it did. It really did.
B
It's right up there with King of Queens with the. It has funny moments. Yeah, but that Gen X attitude, that, that boomerish Gen X men can just be assholes and lay around the house and don't do nothing and be giant pain in the ass and women gotta carry all the labor. Like it didn't age that great. But I. I could have never guessed that me and Patricia Heaton was going to have beef in the year 2026 after she's been a sitcom star since the fucking mid-90s. What?
A
I didn't expect to hear that.
B
But keep it going, New Yorkers.
A
Zo Boomer, baby.
B
I said, oh. She said, I'm leaving. I'm leaving. Nothing to ambiguity. You will know exactly where the fuck I stand. Full throated support that man. You can hate him all you want to. And I know how y' all feel about Muslims, okay? So I'm not even trying to educate you. Like, you know that you're biased against these people. You know that you're hateful about these people. I'm not gonna try to act like you not. But he is the mayor of New York City elected by people who live in New York City. And we love that man. We love the things he has been doing for this city since he's been in office. Yeah, it has made everybody take a look around and say, well, what the fuck was every other mayor doing? It has people across the country looking around at their local government like, well, what the fuck do y' all do?
A
Absolutely 1,000%.
B
Because it's rainbow dildos and sunshine sparkles in New York City.
A
Bitch, when I tell you them hoes having a blast, sweetie, you're the minority. As New Yorkers go, they're having a great time.
B
We love our Muslim mayor. Y' all posting like a terrorist excuser is now mayor and an outspoken sympathizer for terrorist perpetrators. And he is disqualified from attending the 911 remembrance ceremony and ought to be barred. You hoes have zero power. You'll be banned before he is. He's the goddamn mayor of the city. You're going to have to get the fuck over it. We elected a Muslim mayor. We like it like that.
A
And y' all love him like.
B
And we are not going to pretend that religious extremists represent the religion as a whole. And y' all understand that when it comes to every religion except this one. So go fuck yourself.
A
To do something similar with Abdul El
B
said, oh, yes, I heard about that race. And I said, oh, well, you know, unfortunately, with what I Know about. I mean, it was like when Barack Hussein Obama got elected. The name alone, as you like. And I know he. I think they still haven't called that race, but I think he's technically ahead right now. So, I mean, I would love to see it, but we're not gonna act like Muslims aren't fit to hold office or shouldn't be a part of American politics. Why the fuck shouldn't they? Look at how many things white Christian Americans have done to this country and then tell me that, Mom, Donnie don't deserve to be mayor of New York City. Y' all sound like the idiot bigots that you are. Yeah, we elected him and we fucking love him. Even the people who didn't vote for him are like, I mean, I'm waiting for him to fuck up, but, I mean, as of right now, it's cool. Or whatever. Like, girl, no, he's going.
A
You're so right.
B
The mayor's office was like. And obviously the mayor will be there, so whatever. Right?
A
He's the mayor of New York City, bitch. Why wouldn't he be there if he didn't go? You're right. If he didn't go, it would be worse.
B
It would be headline news on Fox for the next three weeks while Trump cartwheels and shits all over the White House. He just. They prop him up and he shits his diaper every day. And they would be talking about, how dare that Muslim mom, Donnie, not go to the. Because he was actually celebrating on that day. Okay, all right. Y. He's going. He's the mayor. If you don't like it, tough titties. There's not one fucking thing you can do about it. Stay mad, decrepit bitch. There's not one fucking Zio Boomer. What the fuck?
A
Zio Boomer is outta here.
B
Did you make that up?
A
I've never heard it.
B
Yikes. She said, not only am I a Zionist, I'm a Boomer as well.
A
Is she Catholic?
B
I think so. She said, but don't. Please don't let my Catholicism keep me from fully supporting the Jewish state of Israel. Please. Please don't think that's gonna stop me from believing in white supremacy and dominance in that way. Cause it's not. That's what I'm saying. A lot of Zionists aren't even Jewish, right? They just Down. They are super down.
A
Erica has, like, a ridiculous number of questions.
B
Yes, yes, we do. We do. And people who are so. Who are so fully in it that they call themselves Zio Boomers.
A
That's wild.
B
I said, wow. Okay, so I can't watch the middle, so now I can.
A
Zyoboomer Sounds like something you would have to kill in the terminal, Adrian. You know.
B
Yes, that sounds like a transformer or
A
something, like some sort of sci fi beast.
B
Oh, so you have ruined the middle for me. Which reminds me, Remember last week I was talking about the voice of Pearl and how she devastated me. So anyway, somebody who grew up with Rebecca Sugar emailed us and said, you do not have to worry about Rebecca Sugar. That person would literally never. Like, Steven Universe will always be safe. I know them very well and they dated one of my relatives. And so you can just, you know, call me a colon about that one, which, thank God. But yeah, Patricia Hidden and the other 75, 000 people who signed this petition for the mayor of New York City to not be part of the 911 memorial, go suck a dick. He's going. You're not going.
A
Other than the fact that he's Muslim.
B
That's literally it. That's literally it. Did you see the video clip? Somebody asked him why there were no Jewish judges appointed to something. I forget whatever it was they was talking about. And the mayor was like, well, I think I know what you're talking about. And that guy was actually on the Elaine Maxwell case. And we just thought it best that the city not have any associations with somebody who was part of that lady's defense team. And I said, oh, chew them up, okay, and tell them again. I said, oh, no. The pedophile sex trafficker at the center of the Epstein files. We thought perhaps, you know, the city of New York could find somebody else.
A
They can't handle her.
B
They can't. They can't handle her because he don't even get agitated. He don't get mad. He sit there with his sweet little Alvin and the Chipmunk smile, and then he reads these bitches. What a smile. He's going, he'll be there on September 11th. You won't. And you remember that as you're watching it from your phone. How much you want to bet most of the people who sign that don't live in New York City?
A
Girl, like, I doubt even a quarter of them. Basically New Yorkers.
B
Same.
A
Oh, anyway, that's so fucking ridiculous.
B
Yeah, he'll be there. Girls. Choke on him.
A
Look at all the time that hate is wasted. Look at all, like, 75,000 of you bitches could have found something better to do. That's wild.
B
The most pointless petition. Okay, he's going, so all right, that is going to wrap up this week's episode of the Read. Follow us online at this is the read. B
All right, you gonna be all this.
A
And I'm having a party here in Los Angeles this coming Sunday. 305 Live is back. Girlies, go to Instagram, go to my bio, get some tickets. I'm gonna be outside, and I think that's about it. Yeah. Yeah. Prayers up for Ms. Lane.
B
Yes. I was supposed to go to the Liberty game tonight, but I think I'm gonna have to cancel and stay home with her, which is devastating.
A
Being a mom, only thing you're liberating.
B
Should have used my butt anyway. All right, y' all take care. We'll see y' all next week.
