In the first half of Owen Gray’s story, we heard how everything he thought his life would be—basketball, dreams of playing at the next level, a clear path forward—was suddenly interrupted. A diagnosis, a surgery, and a hard reset on his future forced him to wrestle with who he really was apart from the game, and what it actually meant to know and follow Jesus.

In this second half of the conversation, he opens up about what was happening underneath the surface: the slow drift of his heart, chasing opportunity, running at an unsustainable pace, and realizing that success on the outside doesn’t always match what’s going on with God on the inside.

Owen also shares how the Lord began to redirect his steps—calling him to lay down some things he loved, to say “no” to good opportunities, and to step into a new kind of work he never would’ve chosen on his own. It’s a story of surrender, realignment, and discovering that Jesus is better than any platform or position.
