In this intimate conversation, I sit down with longtime friend and community member, Rev. Erin Goodman, for a raw and meaningful dialogue about suicide, healing, and the lived experience of mental illness. Erin shares her personal journey through acute crisis and her path forward, now working within the healthcare system to train clinicians and advocate for peer-led, trauma-informed support. We talk openly about what it really feels like to be in the dark, how stigma keeps us silent, and what it means to rebuild a life worth living. Whether you or someone you love has faced suicidal thoughts, or you simply want to show up better for others, this episode is an invitation to witness, understand, and begin the brave work of talking about what’s often left unsaid. 3 Takeaways for Listeners: Lived experience is powerful medicine. Erin’s story shows how what once nearly ended her life is now at the heart of her work—and why sharing your truth might help someone else stay alive. We don’t need perfect answers, just presence. Sitting with someone in their pain is more powerful than trying to fix it.Hope lives in connection. Real recovery happens in relationship—with peers, professionals, and people who see you as whole even when you feel broken. In this solo episode of The Robyn Ivy Podcast, I reflect on a recent snowstorm in Rhode Island as a surprisingly rich metaphor for how we prepare—physically, emotionally, and spiritually—for life’s unknowns. From overbuying at the grocery store to charging batteries just in case, I explore what our storm prep styles reveal about our inner lives. With my signature mix of story, honesty, and grounded wisdom, I offer you a deeper look at how we respond to change, uncertainty, and responsibility. Whether you’re someone who stockpiles batteries, forgets the flashlights, or skips prep altogether, this episode will help you better understand your patterns and build more meaningful resilience. If you’ve ever felt like you were bracing for impact—or caught in a life storm you didn’t see coming—this one’s for you. 3 Takeaways for You: Your prep style is personal intel. How you handle physical storms mirrors how you approach uncertainty in general—notice your patterns.Presence matters more than perfection. When challenges hit, tuning in to your senses and practicing gratitude can shift stress into awe.Real preparedness includes your mindset. The balance between practical readiness and trust is where true resilience lives. Starting over is awkward. Whether you're back at the gym, wrestling with grief, or stepping into a new routine, the beginning can feel clunky and emotional. In this solo episode, I’m sharing a very real week from my own life—post-snowstorm, post-holiday, mid-humbling workout. I talk about what it’s like to be a beginner again, how hard it is to make decisions (even when you want to change), and why it’s okay to start messy. You’ll hear about building emotional and physical strength, the difference community can make, and how doing “reps”—in any part of life—is what truly creates change. If you’re in a season of starting again, this episode will help you feel less alone and more capable than you thought. 3 Listener Takeaways: • The courage to begin again isn’t flashy—it’s honest, human, and repeatable. • You don’t need motivation. You need momentum. One rep at a time. • Give yourself grace. Starting over is still forward. From Rolling Stone Magazine to the latest instagram feed, celebrity has always meant being seen and hopefully in the coolest way. Icons are built on innate talent, personality and a well crafted image of who they are and want to be believed to be. Musicians in particular rely heavily on photographers to capture their essence and persona to become known legends. So when my dear, wildly creative, friend since the third grade, Brian Lima grew up to be an insanely talented and successful music photographer, I had to share him and his all access pass with you. Hang out with us as we shoot the s%#t like the old friends we are about our shared love/hate relationship with photography, the trajectory of his creative career in the music scene, Joni Mitchell at Newport Folk last year and so much more. 🎧 You Said Yes, Now What? What do you do once you’ve said yes—when the excitement fades and the hard part begins? In this solo episode, Robyn Ivy shares real stories from her time as a wilderness tour guide in Alaska, revealing what that adventure taught her about showing up when things get messy, uncertain, and uncomfortable. If you’re already in motion—launching something new, riding the wave of the new year, or simply trying to stay with yourself through change—this episode is for you. You’ll hear reflections on leading yourself through challenges, finding steadiness when the map disappears, and trusting that hard doesn’t mean wrong. Come for the stories, stay for the soul-level reminder: you are more capable than you think. 3 Takeaways for Listeners: • Your discomfort isn’t always an indicator you’re off track, sometimes it means you’re growing or deep in the process. • You don’t have to know the whole route, staying with the next step is enough. • Challenge is part of the initiation so let it shape you, not stop you. Imagine two kindred souls meeting across centuries—one, a 12th-century saint named Hildegard of Bingen, and the other, a modern-day indigenous healer, Grandmother Esperanza. Both women, though separated by time, share a profound connection through their love of nature and unwavering faith. In a recent episode of The Robyn Ivy Podcast, my dear friend Ines and I explored the spiritual kinship between Esperanza and Hildegard. Both women embody a divine presence that bridges the gap between the earthly and the ethereal, showing us the power of deep spiritual connection. But why are we sharing their story with you, Grace? Because in witnessing such connections, we see endless possibilities for our own personal and spiritual growth. These encounters remind us that transformation is on the horizon when we open ourselves to learning from those who have tread the path of love and devotion before us. This June you’re invited to journey with us to Germany's Rhine River Valley for a 5 day retreat combining the teachings and healing of Grandmother Esperanza with visits to the sacred sites of Hildegard. Step into transformative experiences, and create spiritual connections that will guide you toward a more meaningful and fulfilling life. Main Takeaways for Listeners: A Live, Unfiltered Conversation – This episode was recorded at Grandmother Esperanza’s home, where unexpected moments bring humor and authenticity to the dialogue.Ines Reimers' Journey – From public prosecutor to nature coach and mediator, Ines shares her path to nonviolent communication and deep spiritual work.A Spiritual Connection Across Time – Discover how Hildegard of Bingen’s wisdom and Esperanza’s healing traditions intertwine, offering insight into faith, nature, and transformation.A Transformative Retreat Opportunity – This June, journey with us to Germany’s Rhine River Valley for a unique 5-day retreat bridging Esperanza’s teachings with Hildegard’s sacred sites. MORE ABOUT INES REIMERS Ines Reimers (59), mother of two adult sons, has left her 35-year-long career in the judicial system of Germany only last year to follow her heart. She has found her love to nature and through this began to follow the spiritual path when she experienced the healing qualities of just being in the forest. In 2017 she discovered the transformative effects of Nonviolent Communication (M. Rosenberg) on relationships and since 2020 gives trainings herself. She is also a mentor to women in leadership positions and as a certified mediator helping couples and families with their conflicts. This year she accomplished a training as a nature coach to introduce nature to all parts of her work. She lives with her partner and dog Sammy in Mainz (near Frankfurt), a region near where St. Hildegard of Bingen used to live in the 12th century. Deeply interested in the life and work of this extraordinary woman of her time she became spiritually connected and offers seminars to share the legacy of her sacred spirit. www.ines-reimers.de MORE ABOUT ROBYN IVY Robyn Ivy sees people for a living. Imagine starting each day with gratitude, thanking God, Creator, Universe for its blessings, and walking through your day with your spiritual intuition as your compass. "Intuition," Grandmother Esperanza explained, "is like a spiritual whisper guiding us toward our truth." This simple yet powerful teaching resonates deeply with my belief that trusting our inner voices can lead to profound personal growth and transformation. Today I am sharing a conversation I recently had with my own spiritual teacher, 90 year old Grandmother Esperanza, a wise, Indigenous elder and healer who has profoundly impacted my life. We were on a private Zoom call- just between us- but it was getting so juicy that I decided to record it for you too.
