Imagine Jesus present in your everyday environment—your home, school, office, or car. While we often picture Him in distant historical settings, Fr. Mark-Mary encourages us to experience Jesus coming to us in the here and now. This kind of imaginative prayer deepens our relationship with Jesus by making His love and presence tangible in the ordinary moments of our lives. Today’s focus is the mysteries of the Crowning with Thorns and the Carrying of the Cross and we will be praying two decades of the Rosary. Brother John
today we will be
Brother Sebastian
praying with the third and the fourth sorrowful mysteries, the crowning with thorns and Jesus carrying of his cross. So as we pray today, we're going to focus again specifically on Jesus, on
Brother John
his heart for you,
Brother Sebastian
his eyes looking at you, his attentiveness to you. And I'm going to encourage you as you pray here to hopefully respond to an invitation of the Lord.
Matt Fradd
Is there a place of prayer, of
Brother Sebastian
encounter with Jesus that you've already had? Perhaps going back to the workshop that we visited in one of our very first episodes, going with Jesus to Galilee or to Bethany, to Jerusalem, or today, if you've never done this before, I'd also encourage you to give a shot to prayerfully like imagining not just you going to Jesus like 2000 years ago, but him coming to you, to him visiting you, perhaps in your office, in your home, sitting at your dining table. If you have children, perhaps he's there with you, watching them at one of their baseball games, going to pick them up at school, sitting next to you in the pastor's seat. I do believe as we don't just pray the Rosary, but as we go about in our lives trying to deepen and broaden our ongoing conversation relationship with Jesus, if we can actually have some times of prayer where we experience and imagine him like coming to us in the modern time as opposed to us just going back to Him, I think this can be really fruitful and really helpful for us knowing that he's with us and imagining him there with us so that we can speak to him and share our hearts with Him. Experience his love for us in our
Brother Michael
daily lives and in our workplace and
Brother Sebastian
in our mundane tasks, our homes, etc. So I'll just give you a moment here to perhaps imagine Jesus with you
Brother Thomas
in your room,
Matt Fradd
your office, your car, etc.
Brother Sebastian
Experience him looking at you, him loving
Brother Thomas
you, him hearing you.
Brother John
Okay.
Brother Michael
Now let us pray.
Brother Thomas
In the name of the Father and
Matt Fradd
of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.
Brother Thomas

Brother Sebastian

Brother Thomas
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done
Brother Michael
on earth as it is in heaven.

Episode: Day 215: Here With Jesus
Date: August 3, 2026
Host: Ascension
Featured: Brother Sebastian, Brother Francis, Brother John, Brother Michael, Brother Thomas, Brother Paul, Brother Luke, Matt Fradd
This episode centers on drawing closer to Jesus during prayer, with a particular emphasis on experiencing His presence not just in biblical times but in the immediacy of our own daily lives. Guided by the Franciscan Friars, the episode leads listeners in praying the third and fourth Sorrowful Mysteries of the Rosary—The Crowning with Thorns and The Carrying of the Cross—while inviting them to a deeper imaginative, personal encounter with Christ.
[01:01–03:17]
Key Insight:
“If we can actually have some times of prayer where we experience and imagine Him like coming to us in the modern time as opposed to us just going back to Him, I think this can be really fruitful and really helpful for us knowing that he's with us and imagining him there with us so that we can speak to him and share our hearts with Him.”
[Brother Sebastian, 02:28]
[03:03–03:32]
Memorable Moment:
“Experience Him looking at you, Him loving you, Him hearing you.”
[Brother Thomas, 03:25]
[03:41–12:10]
Third Sorrowful Mystery: The Crowning with Thorns
A full decade is recited, with the Friars rotating through the traditional prayers and encouraging participants to maintain awareness of Christ’s personal nearness.
Reflection and Refocus
Before the next decade, listeners are prompted to reimagine the closeness of Jesus in their current setting.
“Jesus being close to you, with you, wherever you are.”
[Brother Sebastian, 08:00]
Fourth Sorrowful Mystery: The Carrying of the Cross
[12:15–12:24]
“Thanks again for joining me and praying with me today. I look forward to continuing this journey with you again tomorrow.”
[Brother Sebastian, 12:15]
“Is there a place of prayer, of encounter with Jesus that you've already had? ...Or today, if you've never done this before, I'd also encourage you to give a shot to prayerfully like imagining not just you going to Jesus like 2000 years ago, but Him coming to you… I do believe as we don't just pray the Rosary, but as we go about in our lives trying to deepen and broaden our ongoing conversation relationship with Jesus, if we can actually have some times of prayer where we experience and imagine Him like coming to us in the modern time…this can be really fruitful.”
[Brother Sebastian, 01:37–02:39]
“Experience Him looking at you, Him loving you, Him hearing you.”
[Brother Thomas, 03:25]
“Jesus being close to you, with you, wherever you are.”
[Brother Sebastian, 08:00]
Day 215 of "The Rosary in a Year" draws listeners into a living relationship with Jesus by inviting them to imagine Christ’s presence in their everyday routines. Guided through the third and fourth Sorrowful Mysteries, the friars merge meditative tradition with practical spirituality, reminding all that Jesus does not dwell only in history but actively walks with us now—wherever we are. This approach aims to deepen both the practice of the Rosary and the personal experience of faith.
