Boring money moves make kinda lame songs but they sound pretty sweet to your wallet. BNC bank brilliantly boring since 1865.
C
This is the run through. I'm Chloe Mao.
D
And I'm Chairman Audi.
C
And it's so sad to say as summer winds down, but here we are. We are very sad for the Doge days of August, but we are very excited for the cultural preview that we are about to unfurl and that awaits us in September. It's like back to school for film, tv, theater.
E
I think back to school is such an exciting time.
C
You're like one of those people who loves the smell of a bouquet of freshly sharpened pencils.
E
It's just cause you have young children, that's why you're filled with dread. End of summer is really melancholy if you have young children. It's true.
C
Are you kidding? It's like the end of a patchwork of camps and medical forms that I look forward to.
E
I guess so. I guess so.
D
In the New York studio, which I would love to be there, but I am. In the London studio we have the lovely Leah Faye Cooper, Vogue's digital star director, and Taylor Antrim, Vogue deputy editor. Hi guys.
F
Hello. Thanks for having us.
E
Hello. Happy to be here in the melancholy end of summer to try to provide some. Provide some cultural joy.
D
But before we get into cultural joy, let's talk about the news of the week. I mean, Chloe, you have to tell me everything about Doug because all of the covers are just making me so happy. And I mean, you know, it's. It's the scientific evidence that looking at pictures of animals makes you happy. And thank you for giving me all these wonderful pictures.
C
I don't know, I'm really glad you told me that last week because when I asked every member of staff to look at 1,000 pictures of dogs because we had 56,000 submissions, when Liam was like, I've never looked at so many dogs before, I was like, it's good for your nervous system.
D
It really is.
F
Dr. Naughty, I have not either, but I was up for the task.
C
Doge is very exciting. Sabrina Carpenter's dogs. I loved Sergio Klatenoy. One of his great coups to date was getting his friend Sabrina Carpenter to send us a video of her FaceTiming her dogs Louie and Goodwin to tell them that they were on the COVID of Doge and you see the dog jumping at the screen in delight.
F
They were obviously thrilled. Oh, my God.
C
Mikey Madison told us it was a highlight of her career.
D
Oh, my God.
E
Oh, my God. Oscar winner Mikey Madison.
C
Yes, I will say. And this was never, this is completely by accident. It was never an intention of Doge. It is an amazing way to actually feel like you get to know a celebrity. They tend to be so guarded in celebrity profiles. And like Lewis Hamilton, who I feel like is so careful and correct about the way he presents himself talking about his dog. He's like, well, we sleep together but he snores and he has terrible gas. And it's like this extremely intimate portrait of Lewis's life at home with Roscoe. And same with being like, well, you know, Hank is bilingual because I speak to him in Korean and English, but I gentle parent him until he eats my mom's socks. And then everything. I mean, it's like really too much information.
F
I interviewed Devin Booker about his two cane corsos, Hector and Haven. And one of the questions we asked everyone is, what's something you wish you could tell your dog? And he was like, I tell them everything. They're the only. He's like, those are the only ones that I literally tell everything to me.
E
What do you wish you could tell your dog? Who came up with that question?
C
Hannah, what's the barrier there? Like, what do you wish?
F
Well, what do you wish they could like absorb and understand? But he was like, I tell them everything. And I'm pretty sure that if you.
C
And your can of corsos were at a dinner party.
G
Hi, I'm Hannah Jackson, I'm a fashion writer at Vogue and today I'm bringing you guys inside a shoot for Joke here at Petco in Union Square with Muddy Paws.
C
Our colleague Hannah Jackson and the run through producer Chelsea Daniel went to the shoot with the Doggist and caught some behind the scenes on the shoot where we photographed some of our favorite dogs up for adoption at Muddy Paws Rescue.
G
There are dogs who are waiting for their adoption meetings. There are dogs waiting in vans.
C
Not only was the Doggist apparently extremely popular and a celebrity sighting for people, but the very excited and activated by this moment for their portrait. So there's, there's a lot of barking in this audio.
G
It is bustling this morning. The dog, street photographer, the Doggist is becoming the dost on our shoot. Right now. We are watching him shoot with Nikki, who is a five year old blocky headed gal and she has shoulders like a linebacker. She has an underbite, she sticks her tongue out of her mouth. I'm obsessed with her vibe. She's a star in the making.
C
Who wouldn't want her gobbled all up?
F
Yeah.
G
Oh my God. Right now I'm looking at Benji, who is so, so cute. And he's sitting, he's standing on a table getting pets from probably at least five hands right now.
H
Benji is 12 years old, so he's a really old senior. And when I picked him up, he was very matted and very like covered in dirt and poop. So we had to cut off a bunch of mats. But he's a way different dog now and it's only been five days. We've only had him for five days.
I
My name is Elias Weiss Friedman, AKA the Doggist. I make a lot of weird noises. I have treats. I'm trying to get the dog's attention and that's when I take a lot of pictures, is when they're looking at me. And I'll try and get a head tilt by making a weird noise. I'll give you an example. This is my puppy noise. And then I guess I make a. That sometimes works. For this last dog, I had to dig deep for a.
G
It's been such a fun day here in Union Square on our Doge shoot. Thanks so much for coming along.
D
Well, I guess I, I have to say, apart from Doge, the other thing that's kind of taken over my feed in a way that I was kind of surprised by was like Dua Lipa's vacation in Ibiza, like so many memes.
C
Of her standing on a. What was she doing?
E
She was yoga ing on a paddleboard.
D
She was yoga on a paddle board, but also like with a, with a glass on top of her head, dancing. I mean, she looked like she was having the time of her life.
F
She always has the most, I mean, one in Ibiza.
D
Yeah, I know. Like she is supposed to go for like an amazing vacation in Ibiza. She took all of her friends, she took an incredible wardrobe. She, you know, she took her ability to stand on a. Do a handstand on a fucking. Sorry.
F
Oops. Oops.
E
That's really incredible. I don't know how she does that.
D
I don't know either. But she's obviously in the best shape of her life and having seen her on tour, being on tour and how Much. She has to, you know how strong she has to be to get through it. She just, yeah, she's obviously letting off a lot of steam after a very well deserved, like, long, long time on tour. So. Yeah. So I think it's like the last of the summer wine for everyone. Just go and look at Tua Lipa.
E
Sly get shanked dogs and dua.
D
But I, I, you know what else I loved? I loved. Can you tell me about this whole thing about the, the jello? Because I, I loved that photo.
F
Oh, that was a Chloe Mo special.
C
I was very inspired. Oh my God. By Maha's banning artificial food dye, which as Taylor would like me to emphasize, I am not pro artificial food dye. I am just pro jello.
E
There's a very dubious newspaper for this which is like there was one cycle about two, three weeks ago where it was like Maha's against artificial food dye. And this kicked off an entire like, say goodbye to artificial food dye photo shoot led by genius, our fearless leader, Chloe. Anyway, there's some very beautiful pictures though.
C
Tell us what they were. I just, I thought they were super fun. I feel like there is so much fun summer jewelry that people really are inspired to wear for a few months a year. There's so many fun hi fi colored accessories right now that are in goofy shapes that are almost look like Jell O that are see through. They look like candy. So we thought let's put them with candy and in jello. Although poor Daisy Shilas, our jewelry editor was like, yeah, that's super fun. They can't go in the jello.
F
Right, Right.
D
There are limits.
C
I was like, are you sure? So there were only certain brands that were allowed to be submerged in Jello. Also a really good point that Daisy made was I forgot that when you're making Jell O, the water is boiling. So you're pouring boiling water on meltable plastic. So there's some concessions had to be made. But yes, we were very excited about that. And Brandon, David Gedang did a great job photographing it. Elise did a very funny story. Olivia found two great food stylists and yeah, eye candy or real candy. And as Elise said, take one final jello shot for artificial dyes.
F
Yeah.
E
Dice that will be with us until something like, until something like 2028. By the way, at the earliest.
D
Topshop relaunched here.
F
Oh, yes.
C
But it was, I don't know what that means. Choma. Like the store opened again.
D
No. So basically Topshop. What is the US equivalent to Topshop? I guess there isn't One. But everyone in most, most kind of fashion lovers in the. In the US are familiar with the high street staple that was Topshop. You know, Kate Moss did collaborations with them. They had many collaborations. They were kind of beloved and they were really.
F
Top shop in Soho was major.
C
It was major.
D
It was major. I've definitely spent many hours there. And I grew up near the flagship in London, which was in Oxford Circus. Anyway, long story short, what was the.
C
First thing you ever bought at Top Shot? Chuma?
D
I remember distinctly. I don't remember exactly what, but I remember going to my first rave when I was underage and buying like a crop. Yeah, I know. Like a utility skirt that was definitely knockoff Prada And a cropped long sleeved. It was very Y2K. A cropped, long sleeved Adidas crop top.
F
Oh, perfect.
D
With V neck. It was very cute, actually. It was a killer outfit. Yeah, that's what I remember. So I have very fond memories. I spent many a Saturday there. And so they've recently relaunched. I didn't really know that it was happening until quite recently. And they had this massive show in Trafalgar Square and all kind of the kind of big, cool British girls were there. Cara Delevingne, Adria Boa. So it was really well attended. But yeah, I think the jury's still out as to whether the clothes themselves stand up. We'll have to see. But yeah, that was some big fashion news that happened this week.
C
I mean, Topshop was such an insanely pivotal moment. I feel like in. At the moment. It was. It was before. I feel like it was before the ascendancy of H and M. It was before Zara took hold. Like, it was very much the first high street brand. That felt really exciting. Shop at. I remember going to London with my mom when I was like 16 and I was like, we have one thing we have to do. She was like, I'm not going there with you. But I went and I bought a striped button down. That in retrospect is such a weird thing for a 16 year old to get. Like, I truly love you, but not.
D
You, Chloe, not you. That. This is very on brand. For Chloe Moss, I bought a Gordon.
C
Gekko shirt that I still own.
F
Oh, my gosh. I had the most amazing Kate Moss slip dress from there with some, like, lace insets. I loved it.
D
I mean, she did amazing collabs for them. I mean, there were so many great British designers that did collabs with them too. But I just think it's hard to revive something that has that lives in people's minds in the same way. Right. And also this new generation has none of that memory, muscle memory around the brand. They're shopping at different places. They're shopping at vinted or on ebay as well. They're, they just have different shopping habits now. So it'll be, it'll be interesting to see how, how it kind of all plays out. But, yeah, we all have very fond memories. I can't imagine now wanting to go and revisit that because I think it just has to stay there in my memory as a certain time. But, you know, maybe a new generation of shoppers will be into it. But I just think it's a crowded market. Like you said, there's so many more options. And how, how do you navigate that?
C
We'll be back in a moment.
A
Well, I was down on my last dollar. Then I started saving because the bank said fiscal restraint is what you're craving. So I put my earnings in a high yield account, let the savings compound and the interest mount. I'm optimizing cash flow, putting debt in check. Now time is my friend and not a pain in the neck. And we've got a little cash to rebuild the old debt.
B
Boring money moves make kind of lame songs, but they sound pretty sweet to your wallet. BNC bank, brilliantly boring since 1865.
D
So let's get into our full fashion and culture preview. There's much. So there's so much to discuss, Leah. I mean, I know you're the resident sports girl.
F
I'm very excited for the US Open, particularly about Venus Williams we were talking about the other day because she is, you know, much older than most of the competition at the US Open, and she'll be playing mixed doubles and is very excited because she's never won that and would like to. There's also going to be a U.S. open dating show on YouTube.
C
We stop it.
F
Yes. I believe it's U.S. open fans looking for love, tennis fans looking for love among each other. So that will be very fun.
D
I'm tuning in immediately.
F
Yes, of course. We will be on Tennis Wag Watch. I personally love Trinity Rodman. I think she's very fab. Also accomplished athlete. Very accomplished athlete in her own right.
C
She's not just a wag.
F
No, far from it.
D
Wait, who is she with?
F
Ben Shelton.
D
Okay.
F
Yeah.
C
They're a sports power couple. Trauma. Yes.
D
Okay.
C
Speaking of the Williams sisters, Margo Mbuba, our fearless wellness leader, has exciting news breaking on Thursday morning. This morning, which is that Serena Williams has been on a journey on GLP1s and has been talking about how helpful that has been for her postpartum recovery and to be staying in shape and healthy.
D
I've been seeing so much chatter online who have been policing her body, which has been really upsetting, like commenting on her weight loss and her weight loss journey. And I think it's really brave that she should speak out because it's like, like people need to, like, this is her body.
F
It's.
D
She gets to do what she wants. Like, honestly, it's crazy.
F
Very. Yeah, absolutely. And she talked about. So she talked about that. She talked about how she's. I mean, basically her whole life since she was a teen had people talk about her body, what she looks like. And I think with this story, she's really speaking about the fact that you can be a world class athlete, you can be in the gym and have access to great food and great chefs and it could still be really difficult for you to maintain a weight that you feel good at. And so in her case, she decided to get on a GLP1 and she said that, you know, she'd been working hard, she'd been eating well, but she just was not, was not at a weight that she felt comfortable at. And the GLP one has been helpful in getting her there and she still maintains like a very active lifestyle. And she also spoke about wanting to share this because she has daughters and she thinks that, that transparency is very important.
D
This is a big story. People are going to. This is going to get picked up. This is going to get picked up. It's all like, my feed is full of people commenting on Serena's new body or whatever. Like, I think so few more things to do.
F
They really do.
D
But they just honestly are obsessed with her body. Like, it is unbelievable. It's really disgusting actually. They don't. Won't leave her alone. Whatever size she is or whatever she's doing with her body, it is always open for comment. Everybody seems to have an opinion. It is always wild and it is like true of so many black women's bodies. It's crazy.
F
Yeah.
C
Leah, tell us about the WNBA finals. What are we excited about?
F
Okay, so the Minnesota Links are doing really, really, really well. So we're likely going to see them in the finals. They have now beat the Liberty three times and the Liberty beat them last year to win the championship. So big rivalry. I think that's who really everyone is looking towards. I think we're still not sure if the Fever are going to make it. Caitlin Clark has been out with an injury. So we'll see how they do over these next few weeks. The finals kick off September 14, and if it's anything like this past WNBA All Star weekend, which was really just exciting and fun and garnered a lot of attention for these women, there's so many big personalities in the league. It should be exciting.
C
I have to say, it's been so much fun to watch collective excitement around the wnba, both in our office and externally. I feel like also so many of my friends with young girls are going and it's just, it's been a very fun thing to watch over the last two years.
E
It's also football season. So, Leah, what are you excited about in the NFL this year? I know you're an avid follower of the NFL.
F
I am. All right, well, Russell Wilson is now a giant. So excited that him and Ciara are in New York. She actually performed. She actually showed up at a Brooklyn party, like a Brooklyn block party at Havana Outpost a few weeks ago and just started performing, which was a fun surprise. So excited about that. We are friends of Joe Burrow at Vogue, so can't wait to see him what he shows up wearing. Also excited about Jalen Hurts and the Eagles. I mean, there's talk that they could run it back and do another, win another super bowl, so that'll be really exciting. And our friends, I mean, this is going to be at the end of the season, but our friends at GQ are doing another GQ bowl. So there'll be lots of parties, lots of fashion, lots of celebs. Something else we're really excited about. So 12 teams now have male cheerleaders in the NFL?
D
Yes.
C
Oh my God. I've never heard. We're very into that.
F
And we are very, we're especially into, you know, some of the Vikings cheerleaders have been getting some online vitriol and they are remaining fabulous and twirling in everyone's face. And I cannot wait to see, hopefully.
C
Doing a get ready with me for Vogue.
F
Yes. Fingers crossed.
C
I love. There's one that has like Farrah Fawcett hair.
F
Yes, Blonde Farrah Faw hair. He looks great.
A
Well, I was down on my last dollar Then I started saving cuz the bank said fiscal restraint is what you're craving. So I put my earnings in a high yield account Let the savings compound and the interest mount. I'm optimizing cash flow, putting debt in check. Now time is my praying and not a pain in the neck. And we've got a little cash to rebuild the old deck.
B
Boring. Money moves make kind of lame songs, but they sound pretty sweet to your wallet. BNC Bank. Brilliantly boring since 1865.
C
I have to say, a big fall preview that has been or fall anticipation that has been rocking the Vogue offices. Life of a Showgirl is Taylor Swift's new album, which drops on October 3rd. Sam Sussman, Irene Kim and I were already discussing how we're going to integrate that into the fashion Paris fashion schedule because it's gonna be dropping at 6am in Paris and we're like, should we be going to people's doors at the Regina and getting their take on it before the Chanel show? But she is wearing this bejeweled showgirl outfit on the COVID of the album that she released and many of us assumed that she was wearing Aria. But in fact, Leah, do you want to tell us what it is?
F
In fact, she is wearing vintage Bob.
C
Mackie, which Lila Ramsey uncovered. Very on brand.
F
Very, very, very.
D
I'm surprised she pipped Margot to the post on that.
C
I know, it's true. So that's exciting. I like that. The list that Taylor shared about his fall TV was titled TV Chloe Will Hate.
E
Yes. Chloe and I do not share. Well, no, that's true.
C
We overlap with British crime, right?
E
We overlap with our Northern Irish crime fixation on obscure Brit box shows, which we can get to. But no, there is usually a whole set of shows, typically guilty pleasure shows that I get excited about that Chloe has zero time for. So I assembled three of them here for you.
C
Okay.
E
So I'm really excited about this show called Monster of Florence coming out in October from Netflix. And the reason is also known as.
F
Yeah, I thought you were Parker.
C
Parker versus Florence.
F
I saw this and I was like, more about Florence.
E
We're talking about Florence, Italy, people. And the director, at least of the first episode is Stefano Celina, who is one of my favorite Italian action directors. And you may have seen Chloe, I'm sure you saw Sicario 2, Day of the Soldado and the Italian series Sabura. I'm sure you're well up on that. Anyway, I'm really excited about this show. It's a serial killer drama set in Florence, Italy in the 70s and 80s in Italian. Looks great. Oh, yes. Subtitles only, please. My other guilty pleasure was did either of you watch Landman? Did any three of you watch Landman?
C
No, but I feel like my mom did.
E
This was such a show I was not supposed to like, and I completely got swept away by. It's set in the excess oil fields, stars Billy Bob and a whole host of other people, but Billy Bob Thornton is a lord. And this show is so good. It was a huge hit for Paramount, and it's coming back in November and then really going to the bottom of the guilty pleasure barrel. I really liked Fallout, which was this trashy show on prime last year, and it's coming back, which I'm very excited about, in October. And I haven't seen any of these to try to get your attention. It's the return of Walton Gawkins.
C
Oh, I do love Walton.
E
There you go. There you go. It's like an ultra gory science fiction dystopian drama based on a video game. So how's that sound?
C
Okay. Speaking of a pivot, I do just want to briefly digress from what we're looking forward to, to Leah and Choma. Did you watch the finale of and just like that?
D
Of course I did.
F
Of course.
D
What do you mean?
C
I don't know. I'm not there yet.
F
What?
D
When will you get there, Chloe?
C
I don't know. I don't know if I'm ready for Carrie to be gone. I also, you know, I. I haven't quite committed to the end of Cara Bradshaw in my life. She's really seen my entire, like, late adolescence to adulthood. It's very odd not to have her in my life.
D
I know.
E
I mean, it just too many Agatha Christie episodes for you to watch.
D
That's right, you two.
C
Ten seasons of Father Brown.
E
You haven't finished Matlock yet.
C
They're bringing Matlock back. Oh, no. They brought it back.
F
They brought it back. Yeah, that's what I'm saying.
D
Chloe, I'm. And Leah, like. Well, Leah, I know you watched this, so this doesn't really apply, but I know you've seen her final outfit that she wore. What did you make of it? Chloe? Have you seen. You've seen it?
C
Oh, I saw it because Christian Allaire had an exclusive preview.
F
Exactly.
D
Yes, exactly. What did you make of the final outfit?
C
Too, too much.
B
Too, too much.
F
Form wall.
D
Oh, my God. Perfect.
F
I love the skirt. I love the shoes. I thought it was a bit too much fuchsia.
D
Also the hat. I mean, you know what? But Carrie can do no wrong, and it's fine. You know, we have so many outfits to be thankful for that she's given us over the years.
F
This is true.
D
The British Vogue team did, like, a whole thing on all of her outfits. And it was like, really? I felt sad reading it. I was just like, I can't believe it's Over.
C
I know, it's very emotional film. What's gonna be emotional this fall, Taylor?
E
Well, I don't know. I mean, there's so much coming and some of it is embargo. Some of it. I get to see some things early. And I just have to say everyone's already excited about Paul Mascala, but this guy has an incredible fall coming. I mean, he's in the History of Sound, which I absolutely loved, which is coming out. Oh, good.
C
On September 12th.
E
Yep. It's a slow movie, but it's like a really, really beautiful one. It also stars Josh o', Connor, who himself has like a string of really great roles this fall. But Paul McCall. Paul McCall also is in Hamnet, which is a Chloe Zhao directed adaptation of the celebrated novel with Jessie Buckley. It's coming out November 27th. And it really knocked my socks off. I mean, this is incredible set of performances and a really powerful, beautiful movie. So.
C
Oh, I'm excited about. I am obsessed with Jesse Buckley as a Taylor.
E
Me too. Me too.
C
Oh, you know what else I'm excited about? There's two Linklater. A double Linklater.
E
There are two Linklater movies. There's Blue Moon with Ethan Hawke and Nouvelle Vague, which is his sort of tribute to.
C
That's what I'm excited about.
E
Tribute to Godard.
C
And it's about the making of Breathless.
E
Yeah, exactly.
F
Oh, wow.
C
Wait, but is Neuville Vogue in black and white?
E
Yes.
C
Oh, wow. Interesting.
E
Okay, there are a couple movies that are coming out really soon that I think are.
C
Filmform should replay Breathless this month. Yeah, Metrograph or Film Forum should be replaying Breathless ahead of Nouvelle Vogue.
E
Yeah, that always packs them in. No, I'm serious.
D
Sorry, that sounded sarcastic without any irony.
C
Taylor was so mean to me last night. I was going to see the Polanski Dreyfus Affair film at Film Forum, which came out in France five years ago, and I've been waiting to see it. And he goes, that's one of the two movies you see a year. I was like, I don't need this negativity in my life.
E
Leaves through Oppenheimer.
F
Well, it's long. Quite long.
E
Yeah. Totally, Totally.
F
I love this highbrow film talk, but to circle back to television, I believe Emily in Paris will be coming back.
C
Oh, my God. We've been seeing the on set costumes.
F
I personally am excited for that.
E
Is that season three?
C
Four.
F
Season four? There have been four. Is it four or five? I've watched similarly.
C
It's either Emily and Rome.
D
Didn't she run she did move.
F
I don't know where Emily's gonna be when we see her again.
E
We expanded.
D
Emily.
C
Where in the world is Carmen Sandiego? Emily Embarrassed Edition. Yeah.
E
Never watched an episode of that show.
C
That feels right.
D
You're missing out. You're missing out.
C
Taylor's like lioness or bust.
E
Oh, totally. When they announced the date of Lioness season three. I mean, that's a stay home from work day. Chloe, are you gonna be watching the fifth season of Slow Horses?
C
Yes.
E
Yes. That's a big one in your household, right?
C
As the kids say, I am seated. Good usage, Graham. Lloyd and I love slow horses.
E
We love Jack Louden.
C
We love Jack. Louden's gonna be a soon to be dad. He's also Mr. Darcy. The first paparazzi photos of him being fitted as Mr. Darcy have leaked. I will say. I keep thinking about Emma's post that she wrote about how paparazzi onset paparazzi photos are ruining movies for us.
F
Oh, it's so annoying.
C
It's so frustrating. And I only. I didn't care with Devil Wears Prada. I didn't care with. With Emily in Paris or Sex and the City.
E
But when they come for Pride Prejudice.
C
When they come for Pride Prejudice, they better back off.
F
How dare they.
C
A cease and desist is coming their way.
F
I'm also a big Abbott elementary fan. In my former life, before I was a fashion editor, I was a high school English teacher and at a public school.
D
Wow.
F
Yes.
C
In Texas.
F
In Houston, Texas. And I must say, the. The accuracy of that show is just astounding.
C
I've always meant to watch that show and never got around to it, but people really like it. My in laws love Abbott and, well, they were both teachers, so that makes sense.
F
It's hilarious. The archetypes are spot on.
C
Yeah.
E
Chloe, did you ever watch Karen Pirie on BritBox?
C
No.

Okay. 1980s set, Scotland. Female DI sort of dealing with a very male dominated police force. It's fantastic. I really liked it. And second season, it's a big hit in the uk. Second season is coming on your favorite straight service, Britbox in October, so that one is worth checking out. And the actress is named Lauren Lyle, who's like, awesome. She's great. So that's a big recommendation for me.
C
Taylor, you mentioned that you liked A Preparation for the Next Life.
E
Oh, yeah. This is a small movie which is coming out in a couple of weeks on September 3rd, and it's based on an Atticus Lish novel, his first novel. That was a thing when it came out maybe more than a decade ago. And I couldn't believe it had been made into a movie. And indeed, it's made by the director Bing Liu, whose first film was like an incredibly moving documentary that you can watch on Hulu called Minding the Gap, about skateboarders and his sort of like, you know, coming of age, this collection of skateboarders sort of coming of age. And so anyway, this is Bing Liu's first fiction film and it's based on this incredibly great novel. And it's really good. I saw it the other day and I really encourage people to seek it out. It's set in Queens and it's basically about a Uyghur woman from China who emigrates and tries to make it basically working in restaurants in Queens. And she falls in love with this very troubled veteran, war veteran young man. And it's their love story and I was really taken with it.
C
Hmm. Okay. Thank you so much for being here.
E
You're welcome.
C
Taylor and Leah. Chelma, we miss you. Have a great vacation.
D
Thanks. Miss you too. Won't miss you on vacation, though.
C
That's it for the Run Through. See you next week. The Run through is produced by Chelsea Daniel, Alex DePalma and Stephanie Kariuki. It's engineered by Pran Bandy and James Yost. It is mixed by Mike Kutchman. Chris Bannon is Conde Nast's head of Global Audio.
