In this transformative episode, I sit down with spiritual teacher and successful entrepreneur David Ghiyam, co-founder of MaryRuth Organics. David shares profound insights about universal spiritual laws and how understanding them can unlock abundance in every area of life. David made his first million at 15 before facing years of financial struggle, and then eventually building a 9-figure company. His journey exemplifies how aligning with spiritual principles leads to sustainable success. Through powerful stories and practical wisdom, David reveals how our consciousness shapes our reality and why understanding the nature of our "spiritual vessel" is crucial for manifesting our desires.

Welcome back everyone to the School of Greatness. Very excited about our guests. We have the inspiring David Guillaume in the house. My man. Good to see you here.
David Guillaume
Thank you for having me.
Lewis Howes
Thanks for being here man. I've been watching your content online for a while now and you have built a massive business in the last eight to 10 years and you use a lot of these kind of spiritual laws or practices that you say have supported you in building this business, but also just manifesting the things you want in your life. And you didn't always have financial success. You're in a lot of debt. You were struggling. And it sounds like you started to learn these practices to support you in creating the life of your dreams. Is that correct?
David Guillaume
That's fairly correct, yeah.
Lewis Howes
And I wanted to start with. I want to hear more about your story in a bit, but I wanted to start off with what you think are the biggest things that are lowering people's vibration in order to stunt their manifestation opportunities. What are the things you see today? You've coached, I think, hundreds or thousands of people, I think 20,000 hours of coaching on these spiritual laws. What are the things that are stunting people's vibration that's hurting them from manifesting more?
David Guillaume
Well, in order to understand what's stunting people's growth and vibration, people, it's good for people to know what they're made up of, because we as souls are vessels of energy. So in the same way that a 60 watt bulb can hold 60 watts of energy, if I want to be able to draw 1000 watts of energy via a soulmate, via prosperity, via healing, right? This is all energy that I want to draw into. I have to realize that it's not just a function of how do I grab more energy or how do I get more things. I have to transform my spiritual vessel to be able to hold this energy. So then in my spiritual practice, which is Kabbalah, it's universal ancient wisdom, all Kabbalah explains is how I can become the spiritual vessel, the perfect vessel to manifest all these blessings. The blessings want to come in. People think like, you know, how will I ever find love? Or is this meant for me, or will I ever find my purpose? If you desire it, it means that this energy exists, causing you to desire it. You will never want something that doesn't already exist waiting for you to manifest it. But we have spiritual laws in the same way we have physical laws of. Like the science explains that gravity is a physical law of the universe. Everybody has to abide by it. You can't choose not to. There are spiritual laws of consciousness, spiritual laws of finding your soulmate, spiritual laws of finding your purpose or healing. There are universal spiritual laws that if we abide by them, we create the vessel to draw that energy in. So every day there are things that we are doing that are either getting us closer to becoming that thousand watt bulb or that 5,000 watt bulb, or there are things that we're Doing that's shrinking our vessel, causing us to not be able to have the capacity to hold the blessings that we crave and desire. And often when we're not getting those blessings, we start to blame things outside of ourselves. Other people, our circumstances, family members, the economy, politics. And every time we blame anything outside of ourselves, we shrink our vessel even more. And then that spiral takes over. And then there is a. There's a circuit breaker, spiritual circuit breaker. That when a person keeps doing negative actions and negative vibrations and they get lower and lower, there's something that's called pain. Pain is the circuit breaker. Pain comes in to cleanse a person of negativity, then expands their vessel again. So either you can expand yourself through all the things that you talk about, all the things that you teach, all the things that your guests talk about, expanding their consciousness, expanding their vessel, or pain and suffering can also get you there, really.
Lewis Howes
So what are the three things that lower our vibration then from manifesting more?
David Guillaume
Three things, I would say that lower our vibration from manifesting more. Probably the top of the list. It has to do with limited belief systems and competing belief systems. So what's a limited belief system? And I interact with people on a daily basis who, when they talk with you, they eventually reveal what their limited belief systems are like. So, for example, a limited belief system. I had a guy, you had a business, several businesses, and he's able to scale his company to a certain amount of revenue, let's say, whatever it was like 10 million of revenue. Each company can easily scale to that point, but something always happened at 10 million in revenue. Lawsuits would come in, employees would leave, chaos, challenges, government issues. And it was a repeated pattern in each of his companies. What this means is as the founder that controls the energy of the company, there's something that's limited in his consciousness and his belief system that gets triggered at the 10 million mark. One of the things could be, for example, here's a belief system that people who are too wealthy or successful actually it's not a good thing, or that money becomes evil after a certain point. So for him, he had a deserving issue. He realized he didn't deserve to have wealth beyond that amount. And so there's a part of him that started to sabotage subconsciously the company at the 10 million mark. I had another person that I used to work with. She has 20 employees, maybe a company that's 5 million in revenue, and she's asking, why can't I grow this company? It's been stagnant for years. So I asked her a question. I said, what do you not like about your business? She said, I don't really like managing employees. I think they're a pain. I think there's always issues. There's entitlement. I absolutely. It drains me all day long. I hate dealing with employees. So I told her, I said, when you're on a zoom call trying to close a new client that will bring you a million dollars of revenue, do you realize that you are subconsciously hoping that she does not sign up with you because it means you're going to have to hire five more employees to service her account? So there is a part of her that wants the growth, and then there's another part of her that subconsciously is sending out a vibration saying, I hope I don't grow. So that's a. That's a competing belief system. So we have limited ones which usually are around deserving, and then there's competing ones. And we see this in relationships all the time. A person. I remember once teaching a group of women, 15, like, really type A personalities, great souls, and they were in their mid-30s to early 40s, all single, and they're like, we want you to teach us the secrets of how we can find our soulmate. So I said, here. I said, well, what do you all share in common? You're all very successful. You all know how to manifest. Why can't you manifest a relationship? What we realized at the end of the session was there's a big part of them that wants love, wants companionship.
Lewis Howes
But they're afraid of it, too.
David Guillaume
They're afraid of it, too. There's another part of them that's hidden they don't talk about. They love being single. They love their autonomy. They don't want to lose their bodies to having children. They don't want somebody telling them what to do. They don't want to share a bathroom. They associate a relationship with limitation. And so what happens by the third or fourth date? They begin to sabotage or look for what's wrong. And so everyone who's listening, if there's a part of your life that keeps getting stuck, it means there's either a limited belief system around deserving or a competing belief system where you are causing some form of subconscious sabotage to happen. It's like you have the parking brake on, but your foot's also on the gas, and you're wondering why the car is not moving, right?
Lewis Howes
What's been the biggest limiting belief system in your life that blocked you from abundance? Well, that's a great or you're still doing so.
David Guillaume
When I was 15 years old, I had made my first million dollars in the stock market. And then I found spirituality at 15 and totally changed my life.
Lewis Howes
Where are we living?
David Guillaume
I was living in Los Angeles at the time. I went to UCLA. I graduated when I was 15. Well, well, I went to UCLA when I was 18. I graduated at 19 just because I. I just had a belief system that I wanted to, like, blaze through college because I wanted to do spiritual work full time. I joined the spiritual organization just teaching all around the world. I wanted to do that, so I graduated.
Lewis Howes
Did you have a lot of, like, AP classes in high school?
David Guillaume
I did all of that high school summer. So I'm. By my first year, I already had a year under my belt. And then I just put all the credits on to, like, that's all I did at school. Just. I wanted to graduate. I wanted to get my diploma, and I wanted to move forward. I didn't want to drop out. And so. And then after that, I devoted 24, 7 my time to teaching and coaching people all around the world. And I did it for no pay, so I did it all for charity for the first nine years. And here's what's interesting. In the very beginning of the first four years here in Los Angeles, a lot of the people that I was guiding, coaching were wealthy individuals or there were celebrities. It was a lot of Hollywood. And. And at the time, you know, I would go to their homes and they would learn spirituality, and everybody needs spirituality. This was in 2005, and you're like.
Lewis Howes
19, 20 at the time, from the.
David Guillaume
Age of 20 to 24. Which is interesting, because I was young, I didn't have that much experience. But what was powerful was. And this is a whole other concept that I've learned, which is when I learned to remove myself from the equation and not teach from a place of experience, but teach from a place of really feeling people. And, you know, the endless Creator has infinite wisdom and knows all the souls of this universe. If we learn how to be a channel, we can connect to what people need and say things that touch their soul, regardless of how old we are, what our experience is. So we all have this gift, as you know. I mean, we were talking backstage, and the things you were sharing with me were so spiritually aligned with everything that I've ever learned. And so I did have fear of, like, what are these people going to think? Like, are they going to learn anything from me? And then my mentor said, you have to not teach from your brain. You have to teach from your soul, and the energy will flow through and they will feel it. And that's what happened. But in that time that I was mentoring wealthy people, I realized, and this was a subconscious thing that I ended up taking upon myself, that the wealthier they were, the more dysfunctional their families were. Really, that was a belief system I started to cultivate.
Lewis Howes
And you were like, I don't want to become wealthy because then I'll have a dysfunctional family.
David Guillaume
Well, I didn't know that till I got married when I was 29. And we were in debt, and we were broke, and I was spending years trying to make money, and nothing was working. And I actually became a victim about it. I'm like, I'm helping, like, thousands of people around the world. I'm helping them become wealthy. I'm helping them break through to older hopes and dreams, and I have nothing to show for it. And I remember walking down New York City. I was living there at the time, and I said I was kind of a victim. I'm like. I was talking to the universe. I'm like, why can't I get my break? And then I realized, why am I screaming at God? This energy called God, or the Creator, is endless, infinite, and wants to give me everything I need to change my vessel. So then I had to look inside myself and find where the sabotaging belief system was. And what I found was, wealth equals dysfunction. Wealth equals kids who go to drugs. Wealth equals kids who want to commit suicide. Wealth creates people who take advantage of you. Because this is what I learned teaching Hollywood and teaching people in Beverly Hills.
Lewis Howes
They were saying, this is what's happening in my life, and everyone's trying to take money from me, and people only call me when they need money, and no one's appreciative when I give them money, and it's never enough or whatever it might be.
David Guillaume
Exactly.
Merrill Advisor
Exactly.
Lewis Howes
More my kids, I keep spending money on them, and they're ungrateful or whatever.
David Guillaume
Oh, my God. I can't tell you how many calls I got. My kid is in drugs. He doesn't want to leave his room. He's suicidal. I'm like, you are a type a person that make anything happen. You would think that your children will feel that vibration and want to be like you, be with you. But what I was realizing was the exact opposite. Now this limited belief system was causing me to subconsciously push wealth away. Once I realized that, I started to walk the streets of New York and just say the mantra which would reverse that. Belief system, which is the Creator wants me to have everything. The Creator wants me to have wealth and beautiful children and a healthy lifestyle. And all of it's possible. There is no limitation because the Creator is infinite. We're meant to become like the Creator. That's our spiritual birthright. So I'm the one that's limiting this energy from coming in.
Lewis Howes
You were blocking it.
David Guillaume
I was blocking it.
Lewis Howes
So it was an awareness. It sounds like, okay, I'm. I'm aware that I'm creating this block. I'm saying these things. My vessel is limited. I'm only a hundred watts, as opposed to a thousand watts or a million watts of energy right now, based on my belief system. So let me shift the belief system within me by being aware. Let me start reinforcing it with some type of mantra. Maybe I don't believe it right away, but I'm going to start to believe it by reminding myself this is possible. How does someone start to believe something is possible when they've never created it for themselves?
David Guillaume
That's a beautiful question. How does somebody believe something is possible when they haven't created it for themselves?
Lewis Howes
It's possible for me to make a million dollars or possible for me to become financially free when I've never created it and I've always been broke.
David Guillaume
There's two ways to do that. Number one, people think that it's very difficult to get there, and it's actually much easier. Your body is. And your mind and your soul are very compliant. If you say something over and over again, and it's so simple. I don't want to overcomplicate spirituality. If you say something, a mantra, over and over again, even if you're faking it in the beginning, your body, your mind and your soul will comply with that vibration. And then you will do actions that will be closer to that vibration, and they will reinforce each other. So what I do literally every day is I just ask myself, what is the highest vibration I need to get to? I see the delta of where I'm at now and where I need to get to. And I just keep hitting that point over and over and over again incessantly, until all of me complies with it. And it happens every time.
Lewis Howes
How do you hit that point when you're feeling depressed or depleted or down?
David Guillaume
That brings me to the second thing. Every single week, I try to find people who have already achieved what I'm trying to achieve and spend time with them, add value to them, and serve them. Because Kabbalah explains, is a universal Law. If you add value to someone or serve them in a way that makes their life better, you draw from them their positive qualities, traits, and vibration. So if there's something that I want from Lewis, meaning what do I want? All I want from you is the consciousness you've already created. I want the vibration you've already achieved in your life. I want the real wisdom. Because wisdom and consciousness is the one thing I can take from you. That doesn't take away from you, but adds to you.
Lewis Howes
It doesn't ask of me, it adds to me.
David Guillaume
It does, because if I become one more person that learns from you, the universe then replenishes you with even more wisdom and energy. So as you grow your audience, your wisdom increases because your audience craves more through you. And so the Creator bestows upon you much more wisdom and energy. And that's the value of growing your audience. And I'll tell people on social media, people are growing their audience because they think, well, that's how I monetize, or that's how I become famous. And the ego gets in. The only intention you should have for growing your audience is you now have all these mini vessels which are craving your wisdom. So what happens is it forces the Creator to give you more wisdom and you become a greater channel. And that should be our intention for growing our audience.
Lewis Howes
Yeah. How do I serve my community in a deeper way?
David Guillaume
Correct.
Lewis Howes
It's all about service.
David Guillaume
It's all about the customer. All about service. And when you have that mindset, everything opens up and grows.
Lewis Howes
Yeah, of course. What has been the thing that has blocked you in the last year the most? This is something you've been practicing for 20 plus years, 25 years, roughly. These spiritual laws. But what's the thing that's still hard for you to break through or sometimes you forget and you have to be reminded with a painful lesson?
David Guillaume
That's a great question. One of the things I've learned is it doesn't matter how long you've been spiritual or you've been working on something or what your past experience has been. Every test you go through is sent to you by the universe. That is exactly on your level. The challenge your opponent is exactly equal to where you're at in order to get you to your next level. And the only reason the next level isn't comfortable is because it's not your current level. It's a level that you're not familiar with. So of course you don't see it. Of course it's illogical, of course it's Dark. And so what I realized in this year, this has been probably one of my most transformational years, is that I am such a perfectionist. I'm sure maybe you can relate.
Lewis Howes
You look perfect, man. You got perfect hair. You got perfect outfit. Everything's, like, put together, man. You look good.
David Guillaume
Oh, thank you. I am such a perfectionist that everything I do, I've always felt has to be the best. And this was the year I realized that part of why I'm trying to always be the best is I don't want to let other people down. I have to kind of give off this Persona because I'm representing spirituality, and I don't want to make spirituality look bad. So I have to have everything put together. I have to.
Lewis Howes
Plus, you've got a big business. You want to make sure your employees, your team, your investors, whatever it might be, customers, feel like you're credible as well.
David Guillaume
Correct. Correct.
Lewis Howes
Sloppy human being walking around.
David Guillaume
Correct. I can't be sloppy externally or internally. But what I realized was that what that was causing was a lot of guilt and shame every time I fell short of the mark I needed to be at or the expectations I put on myself. And then what was happening was the guilt and the shame was creating much more negativity than all the things I was trying to perfect. So guilt and shame lowers your vibration more than any other mistake you make. People make mistakes like, I don't know, let's say you're in a relationship and you say something to your. To your spouse or to your girlfriend or boyfriend that hurts them or upsets them, and you feel bad about it. That was one moment in time where you created a little negative energy. But the guilt and shame that we carry after making a mistake is a million times the negative energy because it's constant. Every second you hold on to guilt and shame is another moment you're injecting negative energy. So the test isn't the mistake you make. It's the guilt and shame you have afterwards. So how do you remedy that? And this was my biggest lesson. It was taking the pressure off of myself, of trying to appear as someone that's perfect and spiritual and allowing myself just to be myself everywhere I went. And I can't tell you, you know, how freeing that was, but at the same time, it created so much instability in other people because everyone's like, wait a minute. This was the David we knew. And now what's this? I said, no, this is today. A little bit more of the real me. And now I'm actually building a new foundation in my life that's much more authentic to who I am.
Lewis Howes
How so?
David Guillaume
There are people whose approval I wanted so badly and I would. I knew. I know. I mean, look, I connected with your energy and I feel like we share so many similar qualities. I know exactly what somebody needs to hear to feel comfortable. Sure, I know what buttons to stay away from. I know how to talk to them in a way that can just make them feel really good and comfortable. And I learned that many times I'm killing myself or sacrificing myself or I'm being inauthentic to just make them feel comfortable. So now I'm just learning to be me and still be a giver, but to be in the way that maybe makes them uncomfortable in the moment. But I'm being true to myself. And these examples have been happening more and more. It happens with my parents, happens with my friends. It happens with business partners and colleagues. I'm just learning to just show up as me versus who I think they.
Lewis Howes
Want me to be. It's beautiful.

What do you think people are getting wrong about manifestation today?
David Guillaume
What are people getting wrong about manifestation today? I think there's a prevailing belief system that we need to suffer to be successful, and that's incorrect. I think there's so much grind culture that's being thrown out there. And by the way, you do have to work hard and you do have to work consistently. But 99% of it is your belief system about what it takes to manifest. If you believe you must suffer to be successful, then that is the destiny you are creating. You will be successful, but you will only do it after you suffer. Elon Musk has the same hours in the day as we do. He thinks it's easy to colonize Mars. He thinks it's as easy to colonize Mars as we do. Maybe preparing a cup of coffee.
Lewis Howes
Sure.
David Guillaume
Because he thinks it's easy to colonize Mars. That consciousness creates a vessel that draws in the right engineers, that draws in the right ideas, that draws in the right lawmakers to change the laws to satisfy him. Of course there are challenges, but he's loving even the challenges to an extent where it all seems easy. If I think something is hard or impossible, then I literally call in the entire universe to create a movie for me that makes it hard and impossible. There are people who every relationship they're in is a drama. It's difficult. It's hard. Every city I go to, I ask them, is dating hard in this city?
Lewis Howes
They all say, yes.
David Guillaume
They say. I say, which city is the hardest? They say, oh, my God, I'm in New York. It's so hard to date here. I'm sure it's easier in Los Angeles. People in Los Angeles say it's impossible to date here. I'm sure it's easier in New York. Everyone always says it's harder wherever they're at.
Lewis Howes
Why is that? Because they haven't been successful yet in their own city.
David Guillaume
They haven't been successful in their own city. And if I say it's hard to date, then I don't have. It doesn't reflect poorly upon me the fact that I'm single. So I will tell everybody this narrative. It's hard to date. So that they don't judge me and I don't judge myself that I can't find a man.
Lewis Howes
It's not me, it's everyone else.
David Guillaume
Everyone else? It's the city, it's the energy here. It's the. You know, everyone in LA is so superficial. But the truth is, even if everyone in LA was superficial, if you earned your soulmate, that one person would appear right at your door. Ooh, Think about it. There are serial killers in prison who are married, crazy.
Lewis Howes
They found their soulmate.
David Guillaume
Yeah. If someone in a maximum security prison who has a reputation of a serial killer can find their soulmate, I'm sure you can too. In Los Angeles.
Lewis Howes
Yeah. With millions of men or women here. Yeah, exactly. It's funny, you just gotta know where to go. You just gotta try new things and you gotta change. You gotta transform on the inside out.
David Guillaume
Exactly what you just said. When your consciousness and belief systems and energy is in the right place, then you will be guided. Your legs will start moving in the right direction. Your profile on a dating app, algorithmically will change. People will feel your energy. People will find your profile at the right time and feel called to match with you. All of that comes from your vibration. I talk about products on a shelf, right? So one of the things that we talk about in our company is that the energy of the founders, so Meruth and I, our consciousness, down to the executives, down to the directors, to the managers and to the associates, all of us, our energy needs to be of such a high vibration, of an unlimited mindset in order for energy to flow from the creator through us to the product. And then people feel that product on the shelf and they don't know why they like it. They just say it's good branding, right? But they feel something in the bottle and then that's what they should feel when they consume it, when they take it, and then the energy shifts. And here's the thing, in your company, if you have one person who's toxic or you have one person who has a limited mindset, they are clogging the pipes of energy flowing down to the product level. So one of the things that I do, I very little business experience, but from the spiritual side, I'm always checking in with the employees. Where's their mindset at? I once went to my head of sales and I said, hey, in my walk this morning. So every morning I walk and I talk out loud to the universe in the form of prayer. Prayer is just a technology to expand your vessel. People think Prayer is something you do to bribe God to make you more comfortable. But there's no bribing God. God is a perfect force. Prayer is a technology to transform our vessel, to increase the frequency, to allow more energy. So every morning, I'll talk out loud to the universe.
Lewis Howes
And what's the best way to pray for miracles or abundance in our life?
David Guillaume
Any way that makes you comfortable. The way I do it is I walk and I talk out loud in the morning before everyone's awake. Some people like to be still. Some people like to do it in their head. I like to talk out loud, something very powerful about it. In the first five minutes of prayer, all these negative forces will attack you to try to distract you not to do it. And you'll think it's not working. You'll want to get to your phone, and you'll want to quit. I always say you got to go past the first five minutes, and then you break through in kind of a miracle zone. And then when you talk out loud to the universe, your words become a vessel for energy to come in. And so ideas, my best ideas, best product ideas have come on these walks, and I will talk out loud, and these ideas will come. And I had an idea and a vision for a revenue number for my head of sales. I went to him, this guy's got 40 years experience. I said, hey, I think we can get whatever it was, a hundred products into Whole Foods. This is right when we first got into 100 SKUs.
Merrill Advisor
100 SKUs.
Lewis Howes
Holy cow, how many? We had 100.
David Guillaume
I said, I think we can get all 100. Today we have about 300. But I said, we get all 100 into Whole Foods. And he looked at me, and he started laughing. He's like, you know, 40 years experience. I said, we need to aim for two this year to get into Whole Foods. And that's how it works. And we can get to four next year, whatever. And I said, that's a limiting belief, though, based on statistics and history, which is what most people use to form their belief systems.
Lewis Howes
Most people aren't going to Mars. Also based on history.
David Guillaume
Exactly. The people who are changing this world are people who are not looking at history as a way to force their belief systems. They're looking at something bigger, more divine, which is endless. And they're drawing these belief systems from a higher place. So I said, look, you have the experience. I don't. But as a founder, I. You know, in the last eight years, we've been doing this together. As a founder, I do get Ideas. And thankfully, you know, we do control this company. So I want you to really be open to this idea. And we had this back and forth, said, no, it's impossible. I said, I said to him, I said, listen, I want you just to be open to it. And he's like, okay, we'll be open to it. Something happened on a call with Whole Foods, and they said, like, one of their brands wasn't doing well, manufacturing started to, like, malfunction, and like a whole shelf became open. Lo and behold, that year, I think we got 75 products.
Lewis Howes
Wow.
David Guillaume
Never happened before in the history of Whole Foods. We shot up to be like one of their number one brands. And I think today we're at almost like 120 or 130, like somewhere up there. And this all happened in one year. And every year I go back to the team and I say, guys, and this happens in every department. Remember what we thought could happen. Remember what we saw visually. And if we saw it and we feel it, it means it exists. And we have to be open to it. At the very minimum, I need you to be open to it.
Lewis Howes
Yeah, I love the question. I like when I present this to someone is, in a world of possibilities, if this was possible, what would need to happen?
David Guillaume
Beautiful.
Lewis Howes
In a world of possibilities, if it was possible for us to get 100 SKUs and Whole Foods, what would need to happen?
David Guillaume
You just opened up their mind to bypass their old limited belief system. That's a great way of framing it.
Lewis Howes
Yeah, I love that.
David Guillaume
I love that.
Merrill Advisor
Wow.
Lewis Howes
So you got 75 skews in. In one year.
David Guillaume
Yeah.
Lewis Howes
When you had like a couple before then or something, right?
David Guillaume
Yep, yep.
Lewis Howes
And you also said that, something you said earlier. You said you were made $1 million at 15, is that right? Yeah. But then you were kind of broke for 15 years.
David Guillaume
So I made all this money in the stock market early on because I was just had a lot of desire, a lot of energy. I just didn't know where to put it. And so I started to trade and it started to do really well. But that's when my life started to get out of control as a teenager and I became a gambler. I started to really. Oh, yeah. I started playing poker eight hours a day.
Lewis Howes
Oh, man. I did that back in 10 years too, in college. Just like poker till 4am Till 4am.
David Guillaume
Sometimes I'd go in. I'd go into a casino on like a Sunday and come out on a Tuesday.
Lewis Howes
Oh, man.
David Guillaume
Even in Sea Daylight, I was like.
Lewis Howes
Playing like $15 hands with like college buddies, not casino life, but yeah, but.
David Guillaume
I mean, it's never enough. So casino life was the next thing. And so I was doing that and I realized, why am I like. I just kept feeling more and more drained, right? You got the highs and then you feel low. And once I started to learn Kabbalah, I started to realize that the highs and the lows were I was drawing energy, but I didn't create the vessel to hold this energy. Gambling, drugs, alcohol, sex, all of these things draw energy. You're drawing God, you're drawing the universal force of creation. The reason why it ends up causing chaos is there's no vessel to hold this energy. So you short circuit. And what does a short circuit look like? There's a flash of light and then there's darkness, but the flash is very bright. That flash is very addictive. So most people, they draw energy, but there's no vessel to hold it. Which we can explain what that means to create a vessel. There's no vessel to hold it. They feel this flash and then there's darkness, there's emptiness, there's addiction. Because they may not know spiritual laws, they'll go right back to more flashes to feed the addiction.
Lewis Howes
So it sounds like there's almost a three step process is what I'm seeing. Number one, learn to draw the energy you want to you. Number two, create the vessel within you so that you can hold it. And I'm assuming number three is where to bring that energy, how to be of service with that energy and then just continue to draw. Have a container big enough to hold it and then pour it out into others. Is that a.
David Guillaume
That's a. That's a beautiful way of putting it.
Lewis Howes
So, so how would we first draw energy to us of the things we want to manifest?
David Guillaume
The way we draw energy to us is first to be clear about your belief system of what you deserve to receive and what you're meant to receive.
Lewis Howes
How do you get clear on what you deserve and are meant to receive?
David Guillaume
Whatever your desires are, it means you are meant to receive them at some point. Don't question that. So if you actually had to write down all your desires, these desires the Creator gave you, these desires, you go out and manifest them.
Lewis Howes
What's the difference between a desire and a temptation? Because you could be like, I want to, I don't know, just like crazy, crazy drugs and I don't know, just like stuff that's not a spiritual energy. But what if it's the desire? I feel like it's a desire I'm supposed to go drink all night and gamble all night and just whatever.
David Guillaume
Correct. So this is what I tell people. I say all of these things that are given to us. Drinking, gambling, drugs, sexual. These are all. For example, let's say if you go to Costco, Costco has samples, and you eat a sample and you like the sample. But if you like the sample, you need to go buy the full product. Nobody goes to Costco all day long. They just eat samples. You don't just sit by the sample station all day long to fill your belly with the samples that they give you.
Lewis Howes
Well, if you're poor, I've done that when I was broke.
David Guillaume
People who just eat samples all the time. So when a person does a drug, what do they feel like? They feel like, God, I feel this euphoria. This is a sample to eventually inspire you to buy the full product. The full product is to realize you can feel that you unlock the power of your soul.
Lewis Howes
Without the drug?
David Guillaume
Without the drug.
Lewis Howes
But most people think the drug is the power to unlock more. And so they need to keep going back, doing the plant medicine or the drugs that create the awakening, the awareness to then feel, heal, see, do things differently, as opposed to creating from within.
David Guillaume
Right? Because they. Because no one's told them that they have the power inside of them that is nuclear. You have this power inside of you that is millions of times greater than any drug you're taking. But we've been told that we need to keep taking the drug to feel that way.
Lewis Howes
But anyone that I've talked to who's done the plant medicines, they're like, no, nothing is greater than this. This is the. This unlocks more than anything I could ever do on my own.
David Guillaume
And it's true. It has unlocked more than they've ever experienced. So I don't ever tell people, don't do this plant. Don't do this drug. When people tell me, I love sex, I'm having sex with everybody. Is there a problem with that? I said, that's fine. You can have sex with everybody you want. You can have all the drugs you want. I have. But I do want you to know that you have something greater inside of you that will give you even more pleasure and more euphoria. If you're open to it, we can talk.
Lewis Howes
And also, if you're doing the drugs or the alcohol or the sex or the addiction, things that create this energy feeling, what does that do to your vessel?
David Guillaume
See, that's the thing. You actually begin to shrink the vessel. How do we know because every time you take the drug, it's never as potent the next time.
Lewis Howes
You need more, you need more more.
David Guillaume
Frequently, you need it more frequently. So you actually begin to shrink your capacity until you experience death. And then there's some kind of death or painful scenario that breaks your vessel open again, and then you start that process over. The only way to really expand your vessel spiritually is a concept as a spiritual law that is certainty beyond logic. You have to be put in a dark situation, a difficult situation where you do not see any logical way of getting out of it, and then choose to have certainty that you can, even if you have to fake that certainty, but you have certainty beyond your logical mind. This breaks open the vessel and allows the next level of your soul to come in to hold this energy.
Lewis Howes
Yeah, and what you said about, you've said this about certainty. Certainty is the way to guarantee a positive outcome. As long as you have complete certainty beyond logic, that everything is good and will be good, you are guaranteed to have the outcome be good.
David Guillaume
Absolutely.
Lewis Howes
But how do we get to a place of certainty if I'm in such a dark place of pain, physically, emotionally, relationally, financially, and nothing is working out for me, I've been suffering for years. How do I even have the energy to believe in certainty beyond my current state of being? Well, does it just have to be more and more pain until you're just like, you have a breakthrough, like, pain is not enough. It has to be extreme.
David Guillaume
Pain is the circuit breaker. So pain is the final thing that the universe sends you to get you back on track.
Lewis Howes
But a lot of people live in like low negative pain. It's not enough pain.
David Guillaume
I feel like sometimes it's probably not. They're drip feeding, they're getting drip fed pain.
Lewis Howes
They're just low levels of suffering.
David Guillaume
Yeah. So what happens is the minute you actually have a desire to be successful in your life, you speed up the process. And what happens is then pain comes really quickly to break you open, to get you there. So it always starts with a desire. If a person has no desire to receive anything in their life, they also will never go through any pain. And they will always stay at that low level vibration of kind of nothing really happening. But the moment you say, hey, Louis, I'm ready to get married, I'm ready to have a child, I'm ready to find my passion, I'm ready to heal, I'm ready to be better. Then all of a sudden all of these challenges come to awaken and show you the negativity that Your soul came to the world with. That's blocking your vessel, and that's a good thing. So our job here is to show people you're in pain. That's a good thing. You see your garbage. That's a good thing. You're more angry than ever before. It's a great thing. People are speaking badly about you. This is a good sign. All of this is a good sign to show that your vessel is now cleaning itself out.
Lewis Howes
Cleansing.
David Guillaume
You have to see your negativity in order to cleanse it. Everyone sometimes feels like I'm at my lowest point. I can't. Everything is going wrong. I'm seeing all my garbage. I feel like I'm not good enough. And I tell people, phenomenal. Now we are at the stage where we can start to build our vessel because you can see your negativity. And the moment you see the negativity and you embrace it, you say, I love my negativity. It goes away. Because light overcomes darkness. If you see darkness, just turn on the light. How do I turn on the light? Act like the creator. What does that mean? What does the Creator act like? The Creator is a giving force. The Creator is a force of certainty. The Creator is a force of consistency. The Creator is a force of love. Well, what does that mean? Just start to do all of those things in small ways. Start to just say you have certainty. Call your mom and tell her you love her. Look at people in the street. Give them a smile. It's all the little things we talk about. It sounds cliche, but if you act like the creator, you turn on the light, the darkness goes away. Well, people say, well, how do I know that's going to happen? I don't know where the darkness goes. I just know when you act like the Creator, that vibration removes the darkness. It leaves.
Lewis Howes
Yeah, it's really hard when you're in a suffering state to see beyond yourself. But the easiest way to get out of self and to get out of suffering is to get out of self by saying, how do I serve others and how do I serve one person when I see them? How do I see someone on the street that you said, and smile at them when they walk by and just try to create an exchange of joy and love. Can I spark light in them walking past me? Can I smile and say, hey, how's your day? And they kind of smile and walk by, and if you can spark that joy like 20, 50, 100 times a day, you become light, you become love. You become. Your vessel expands, and then you're able to draw in more of that love and light.
David Guillaume
That's right.
Lewis Howes
But the best way to get out of yourself is to pour into someone.
David Guillaume
Else that is correct. And the Creator will always show you one pathway by which to do that. I always ask people, is there one thing that comes to mind that you could do that would embody the light of the Creator always? They said, yeah. And I said, that's a message for you. You just have to turn on that little pilot light and the universe will keep giving you more and more opportunities.
Lewis Howes
Right. So the first step is learning how to draw energy. But you're saying we need to be clear on what you deserve and what you desire. How does someone learn to be clear that they are deserving and worthy of love, abundance, a beautiful relationship, when all they've witnessed growing up were their parents creating an environment or school creating an environment, or friends creating an environment that reinforced they were not worthy or deserving of love or beautiful things?
David Guillaume
That's a great question. So one of the things we learned in Kabbalah is that the way you were raised and the way people treated you did not create the fears and wounds you have, but rather your soul came to this lifetime with spiritual baggage. We call this baggage tikkun. That literally means the correction of the soul. You came with this baggage. So let's say you came to this world with the fear of abandonment. Then your soul will choose to come down to parents that are abandoning you, abandoning you, and are avoided, that are going to get divorced. Actually, the soul sees this and says, these parents are actually perfect for me. Not that they will create. Not that they're creating the wound, but they're now bringing up to the surface the very thing that you need to see, to transform, to align yourself with the vibration of the Creator and receive all the miracles in your life.

Lewis Howes
Why can't it just be easy? Why can't we just have peace and harmony as children growing up?
David Guillaume
It's so interesting you say that. Why can't it just be easy? The Creator wants to give us everything. From the Creator's point of view, it's like a parent to a child. We want to give our children everything. We don't want them to suffer at all. The Creator wants to give you everything. But here's what's interesting. The souls have a celestial contract with the Creator. The souls basically said, if you give me everything, I'm going to feel shame. I'm going to feel guilty.
Lewis Howes
And we learned this because everyone else is suffering.
David Guillaume
Everyone else is suffering.
Lewis Howes
Yeah, I feel good.
David Guillaume
I have it good. But what's the greatest shame that we all feel when we don't feel that we are the creator of something? These children who are getting wealth handed to them by their parents become the most depressed children. They feel shame because the parents took away their free will to become a creator. Their free will to become like God. So the soul said, I want 100% fulfillment. The only way I can have 100% fulfillment, Creator, is if I become like you. So put me in a world of darkness. Make sure I'm not born with my soulmate. Make sure I don't know what my purpose is. Make sure I have people and challenges that I must go through. And then I choose in the darkness, in the illogical situations, in the pain, to become like you. And then all the miracles come. We asked for it. The Creator wants to give us everything. The Creator is not. He had no problem. We are the ones that asked. It's like the 19 year old told his dad, take your credit card back. I'm not going to go to where you went to school. I don't want any favors from you or the company. I want to go build my own. And that is much more fulfilling than just taking everything from your parents.
Lewis Howes
You know what's interesting? You're saying that my dad got into a pretty bad car accident when I was 21 and he was in a coma for three months in New Zealand and I was living in Columbus, Ohio. At the time, playing football and the night. It was at night when I got the phone call that he was in the hospital and we didn't know if he was going to live or die. And he was in a coma.
David Guillaume
Wow.
Lewis Howes
And I've got, you know, it's like 10 o'clock. 20 years ago. Well, 20 years ago.
David Guillaume
Shoot.
Lewis Howes
20 years ago last month, this happened. And I remember I got a phone call from my sister, one of my older sisters, at night. And right away when she called, I knew. I said, what happened to Dad? I just knew something happened. And two weeks before, I had a feeling something was going to happen. His energy was very different.
David Guillaume
We were.
Lewis Howes
We were at like a summer camp thing or like a weekend, like YMCA family camp thing. And his energy was very weird. He was sitting on a couch by himself when all the family was together and people were playing games and having fun, sitting on the couch. I went to sit by him and I said, is everything okay? He just had a weird energy about him.
David Guillaume
Two weeks before.
Lewis Howes
Two weeks before. It's like a week and a half or two weeks before, but within two weeks before and he's sitting there next to me on the couch. And it was just the weirdest interaction I've ever had with him. And he was going on a trip to go with his. He and my parents had gotten divorced four or five years prior to that. He was in a new relationship. They weren't married, but they were together. And he was excited to go on this trip to New Zealand. He'd always wanted to go, and this was kind of the only time he could go. I was playing football as a senior. He never missed a football game. Like, he came all the time. There's amazing supportive dad in that way. He struggled in other ways, but.
David Guillaume
He.
Lewis Howes
Was going to miss a game. And then I also had a bye week, so he was going to miss, like, two weeks. But one of the weeks I didn't have a game, I was like, why are you leaving? It's my senior year. We're playing, like a massive team, you know, why would you leave? And he's like, this is the only time. But he says something I'll never forget. He said, I'm going to go on a spiritual journey.
David Guillaume
Wow.
Lewis Howes
I get chills thinking about it. He said, I'm going to go on a spiritual journey.
David Guillaume
I got chills.
Lewis Howes
And it's. And he was like, I'm excited to dive deeper into the Bible and my practice. And he was raised in Christian Science, so he was, like, very into healing without Medication? He didn't take any medication. He believed in prayer to heal. He was like, I'm going to go on a spiritual journey. And two weeks later, he. He was gone. And then he had this accident. Got a car accident. I mean, I think it was on purpose, but he passed away two and a half years ago after 17 years of suffering. He. He woke up.
David Guillaume
He woke up.
Lewis Howes
He was never the same. He was. It was like he was physically here, but emotionally gone. And every time I saw him, it was.
David Guillaume
What's your name again?
Lewis Howes
Oh, Louis. That's right. Where'd you go to school? Oh, my God. Didn't you used to play sports? This is the man that came to every game, you know, coached me, practiced with me, all these things. It was the same conversation every time I saw him for 17 years. Talk about suffering. He suffered immensely. My sibling suffered because we lost our dad. Emotionally, spiritually, physically, he was there. But his character, his energy was gone. And it was really sad. But I remember thinking there was. After about four years, I got to a place of acceptance. I was angry, I was mad, I was sad. I was. You know, I was just. I miss my dad. He was there, but I. He wasn't there. At the same time, he always said, hey, go live your dreams, and if you need a job, like, you can come take over, like my insurance business. Right. But I never wanted to do that. And I didn't want to see.
David Guillaume
It would have been easy. Yeah.
Lewis Howes
But I never would have been fulfilled. And it wasn't like it was a big business. It was like a million dollar business. It wasn't like some massive thing. But he was like, starting to make money 30 years in, like, working hard every day. But he was like, you can kind of like, I'll train you, and then after 10 years, you can take it over, like, whatever. Right. His dream wasn't my dream, but his accident was everything I needed to step into the man that I always wanted to be. Wow. And I don't think I could have been this man without that accident. Now I don't want to go through an accident later in life for my kids. That's not what I want. But I knew that I didn't have the courage or the tools to create my own business or be entrepreneurial or go learn public speaking or just to, like, learn these things, because he was always kind of there as a backup.
David Guillaume
Wow.
Lewis Howes
And I don't think I would have learned these things.
David Guillaume
Wow. You knew you had a safety net. Yeah.
Lewis Howes
I just don't think I would have had the courage. It was like the universe or God took it away and forced me to learn all these tools and forced me to go into all my fears and all my doubts. And again, I wish it didn't happen. I wish my dad was still alive. I wish he didn't have to suffer for 17 years. I wish we didn't have to suffer for 17 years with him being there, but not really able to emotionally mentor us or support us. And at the same time, I've learned to accept it and say, how can I make the most of this pain and suffering? And what is it teaching me? What is it telling me to lean into? And whether that's the right meaning or not, that's the meaning that's giving me peace. And I don't know if that was designed or if it was accident, but I feel like I. I wouldn't have been down a path of how can I serve and impact as many lives as possible without my dad going through that pain and that accident? And that's the meaning that I give it, at least.
David Guillaume
Wow. So again, you said something. This was so powerful. You said something. You said two weeks before you felt something. It's like your soul knew that there was a celestial contract that was about to be fulfilled.
Lewis Howes
It was crazy.
David Guillaume
Your soul had chosen your father knowing this was something his soul needed to go through for whatever reason. Right. We don't know. His entire soul.
Lewis Howes
Yeah. Some type of cleansing.
David Guillaume
Some type of cleansing. Or he had maybe finished this correction in this lifetime. And often when people go through accidents, especially in the coma state, there is a clinical death that happens and like a new soul comes in.
Lewis Howes
Yeah.
David Guillaume
And almost like a reincarnation because they're not the same person.
Lewis Howes
It was completely different.
David Guillaume
Yeah. It sounds like your father had actually completed his soul's correction and then from a different place, supported you finally get to your destiny.
Lewis Howes
I don't think I would have gotten here without it. You mean? I just don't think maybe. I mean, who knows? Maybe I would have. Something else would have happened and I would have said, like, I'm going to defy my dad and be like, I'm not going to go after your business. I'm going to, like, prove you wrong. Who knows? Something else would have happened. Maybe, but I just don't think I would have learned to care deeply about humanity as much as I do. I don't think I would have cared. My ego was a lot bigger then, and that kind of like, shattered it in a sense, where I was like, oh, life is. I'm not superhuman. You know, it's like I'm not able to do whatever. Look at my dad, who I thought was, he's not either. So it made me think more about serving others versus me, me, me. And it wasn't perfect. In my 20s, I mean, I still had ego, but it was just a, a big wake up call.
David Guillaume
That was a defining moment.
Lewis Howes
A huge defining moment.
David Guillaume
In the last 20 years of stories I've heard, the ones that had the most traumatic and painful stories of sudden death, of trauma, of loss, of bankruptcy. And then they, they made a decision to create light out of that darkness. Ended up being the most successful people that I know today. And here's what's interesting, how they got there. They say that it was not even logical. There was almost another force that took them there because all they had to do was make the decision that I want to be light. That's all we need to do. People always say, well, how do I get to get there? You don't need to know how to get there. You just need to make that decision. It's the decision you made. And then the rest took shape. Like all of this, like miracle after miracle, there's a force that pushes you to get there. But I always tell people like, the darkest, the darker the period you've been through is the greater the vessel you have. And it means you're a high soul.
Lewis Howes
It's the potential for the greater vessel. Because some people, you still commit suicide or they do other thing that goes down the drug route. You know, we see this with celebrities.
David Guillaume
You have the free will, you have.
Lewis Howes
The, you have the potential to go towards the light or go towards the dark.
David Guillaume
And interesting if you go towards the darkness. And even if a person commits suicide, I've. Every time, I've given my course, every year for the last 20 years, I've given the class on suicide and death and why it happens and what it means for the soul. I've always had at least one person, at least one person every time come to me and say, I've been thinking about it. And what you just shared is what actually inspired me not to do it. Wow. And what is the lesson that I just speaking to somebody yesterday about it, they messaged me on Instagram. They say, I don't think there's any reason for me to live anymore. I don't see a purpose. Nothing's working out for me. I'm in my late 40s and divorced and I can't find love, I can't find happiness. I think it's Time for me to take my life. She literally messaged me this yesterday. And so what I shared with her and what I always share, when this feeling comes up for someone, I say this feeling you have right now to take your life. Let's say right now you're 34 years old, two months on a Tuesday at 10am You've had this exact moment in a past life and the life before where you had the choice to either take your life or push through. And even though you can't see it, you are inches away from a miraculous reality, but you are not allowed to see it because of the greatness that's coming. And if you do take your life now, you will have to come back and experience the exact same feeling at 34 years old, two months on a Tuesday at 10am so if you want to repeat this all over again, that is your free will. However, you must know that the darkness you feel is the vessel and it's not. It is by design that you will have something great to achieve, but you need to push through.
Lewis Howes
Yeah. And I mean, some people may not believe that they're going to come back and live the same experience or the same life or a similar life where they have to make that choice again. But if you're able to present that as like, hey, I believe that's going to happen, and even instill almost a little fear in them, like, whether they. It's like, hey, you may not believe this, but I believe that you're gonna have to come back and repeat this lesson. You want to do it again and it's gonna be more painful. Correct.
David Guillaume
And as we said before, like, they feel something, even if they. I've had people who don't believe in reincarnation. They're like, I don't believe in reincarnation. But.
Lewis Howes
But if there's a chance, there's a chance. Do I want to come back and do this?
David Guillaume
There's the slightest chance and this might happen. I'm not going to do it again. But what I've learned, and you know, I felt this when I came to your, to your event. People feel something when you speak to them. They feel it because at that moment, the same way you got a premonition about your father, you collapse. Time, space and motion. You saw something in two weeks as if it was happening now. And science says time is an illusion, right? So the future happening now, the past is happening now. It's only our limited perception that time is happening. And when you talk to someone about their past life or something, that's happened before. They will feel something because it's happening at that moment. Like time is an illusion. And you felt it. You felt it about your father. It's not logical. Someone would say, louis, what are you talking about? You saw the future. How could you see that it is? Because the future is happening right now. Obviously, the greatest speakers are talking about that. And this is why investing our consciousness in the now both cleanses the past and any negativity you've done in the past. You can cleanse all of it just by deciding to be a different person today. And you also forge this incredible future because you're creating it at this very moment with your consciousness.
Lewis Howes
The vessel part is interesting to me to go back to those that choose to do drugs, alcohol, get into addictive modes and thinking that's creating for their vessel to be more powerful. What is the best way to set up our vessel, meaning our mind, our body, our spirit, to allow for abundance? And what are the things that are blocking our vessel from creating it, where we think it's actually helping it?
David Guillaume
All right, so we talked about examining your limited belief system. So you can literally write down, what do you believe about love? What do you believe about prosperity? What do you believe? And just write stuff down. As you write stuff down, you will see where the limitations are. And you can actually show that to someone who has achieved something you haven't, and ask them, what do you believe about this? I've sat with people who are wildly more successful than I am, and I say, here's how I'm running my business. Here's how I'm doing everything. And they'll look at me and they'll be like. They'll literally make me feel like I'm failing in every way. Like, forget all that. What about this? Why can't you get here? It's so easy. And I'm like, like, you're right. You're right. It is easy, isn't it? I'm like, I just want to grow 20% a year. They're like, well, why don't you want to grow 2000% a year? And they're like, I'm like, I guess you're right. So spending time with people who don't have those limited beliefs. I went on a walk with someone who's a great father. He has four kids. He's a phenomenal dad. He's a great businessman, too. I didn't ask him one business question. I said, tell me what you do that makes you a great father. Give your top four tips about Being a great dad. And he told me things that, like, changed my life. One thing he told me, and I. Till today, I think about it every day when I'm with my kids. He says, instead of trying to get the kids to do what you love to do, get on the floor, sit with them and become passionate about what they love to do. You will build this bond and this trust with them that will make them love you and then come to do whatever you want to do later on in life. But we're always trying to make our kids become more like us and what's comfortable for us and what we believe is right. Sit with them and build the trust. Mercy. That was something. I just got on a walk. So we talked about the limited beliefs. And the other thing is certainty. Everything is good. Everything is good.
Lewis Howes
Even if it's bad.
David Guillaume
Even if it's bad, it's good.
Lewis Howes
If you start believing that.
David Guillaume
Start believing everything is good.
Lewis Howes
Once you start to manifest more of the things that are bad. If you believe it's good. If you're like, oh, this person's cheating on me. This person's stealing from me. This person's saying bad things about me behind my back. This is all good. I want more of this.
David Guillaume
Don't.
Lewis Howes
Don't you not want more of that?
David Guillaume
Such a great question. The only when you choose to say something is good, it comes from your choice. You transform darkness to light when you are passively just driving and a negative thought comes to you from the outside and you think about it and you entertain it. That's when you manifest a negative reality. When you say, for example, one day, I remember my CFO called me and said, I got bad news. I said, what is it? He said, we just fell for wire fraud. Somebody just stole $1.1 million.
Lewis Howes
Come on.
David Guillaume
And I said, you fell means someone.
Lewis Howes
On your team paid it.
David Guillaume
Someone basically changed the accounting wiring information. And we wired what was supposed to go to a manufacturer to, I believe someone offshore somewhere.
Lewis Howes
Oh, man.
David Guillaume
And we have protocols in place, and somehow we felt it fell through. So I hear this on the call. And by the way, this is right after I had that week, said, I can't wait for my company to go to the next level. This is like, I set goals higher and higher in my prayers and meditations. I'm like, this is where we get to. I get this phone call. I say to them, I say, okay, this is what I wanted to say. I wanted to be upset. I wanted to say, who did this? I can't believe the system's broke. Did you call the FBI? Let's call all these things. I said, all right, give me one second. I'm going to call you back. I put it down, and I was in my house in the downstairs part of the house, and I started to walk around and say, thank you. I said, this is amazing. I kept saying, thank you, creator. Every part of me was angry and upset and asking questions. But I said, this came from the creator, therefore it must be good. I don't know how it's going to be good, but if everything comes from a good source, means the seed level of it's good. The reason it appears dark to me is this is my free will, my testimony, to become like God. I asked for this before my soul came to this world. So I said, this is good. I love this. I started to dance around the room for 10 minutes like a. Like a crazy person. So I love it. I love wire fraud. I love that I lost a million dollars. This is the best thing that could happen. I called me with. I said, I have great news. Like, what is it? She said, we just. I just said, we just fell for wire fraud. She's like, what? I said, yeah, it's amazing. I'll call you back with all the details. We just lost them $1.1 million. And I hang up the phone, I get so excited. I get my body to get so excited about it to the point that I realize it's all energy. What is? Money. It's all energy. And if I'm meant to have it, I will have it. If I'm not meant to have it, I won't. But at least my free will is my consciousness of certainty. And I got so excited about it. And then I called them back and I said, okay, make sure you call the FBI. Make sure you call the lawyer. Make sure you follow the protocols. Make sure you create a process that this never happens again. Let me know what happened. Same thing. I would have said 10 with more anger, with more anger for your position. But the difference was now I elevated my consciousness. I literally got a new soul that's like. That can hold a thousand, ten thousand watts of energy. And now the company is going to benefit from this new soul and draw in more wealth in the future. How, I don't know, and it's not my business. Lo and behold, two, three months later, people ask, did you get the money back? We didn't get the money back. We lost that money. But two to three months later, the company broke open and a whole new A video went viral that like, resulted in like 10 million of revenue. Like, stuff you cannot create yourself. And then the company went on a whole new trajectory. And that's what I've always learned. Right before a new level comes, you must be tested with something that is equally going to freak you out, make you sad, make you angry, make you want to blame. And I realized it's all an illusion. The whole thing was just between me and the creator. The company is my energy and Mary Ruth's energy. So if our consciousness is high, this is what she tells me every day. Every day she goes, she has a rebounder. She rebounds every day. And I'm sitting, mary Ruth, Mary Ruth, yeah. And I'm stretching and she says to me, hey, I'm visualizing now everyone in the company. I'm putting a golden bubble around every employee she goes to. Each employee says their name, says, I'm putting a golden bubble. I'm putting golden bubble around you. I'm putting certainty and injecting certainty to each employee. And like, she's sending energy and the vibration to just open up everyone's vessel. It's all vessels. We're all just vessels for energy. And when we're complaining and when we're this and we're that, even when we eat poorly and we become sluggish, all of this stuff is just taking our energy, shrinking the vessel. And this is why sometimes when you fire your toxic employees or employees that just don't want to be there or their mind is somewhere else, if their mind is somewhere else, it's because their vessel's somewhere else. And this Netflix talked about this when they fired like a third of their B level and C level employees, like, revenue shot up 30%. It is so important. Who is your network of people and what is their consciousness, Especially in your company.
Lewis Howes
That's powerful, man. So the vessel is key to get your vessel in shape so that you can hold on to what you're drawing.
David Guillaume
To you and what is meant for you anyway.
Lewis Howes
What is meant for you anyways. Hold on to it. Or be a channel of flowing in and out of you. Because you probably don't want to hold on to everything. You want to be a channel for it to come and go.
David Guillaume
For it to come and go.
Lewis Howes
And the third part would be to what add value, be of service. What do you really think is, once you're able to expand your vessel to receive more, how do you, okay, share that. When you get a new car or.
Merrill Advisor
A new home, your first reaction might be to say things like, oh, yeah, or I can't believe it or booyah. But what you really want to say.
Lewis Howes
Is the one thing that can get.
Merrill Advisor

David Guillaume
So I'm going to round out that last topic, which is Everything is good, meaning you will be tested to be reactive. Reactive means any thought. Reactive behavior is any thought, word or action which comes from lack or fear in order to connect instant gratification or.
Lewis Howes
Expectation or whatever it might be.
David Guillaume
Whatever it might be. So anything you do from lack or fear is drawing energy temporarily, which you will then lose because it was reactive. So right before your next level, you will be tempted with something that makes you scared or something that brings up your lack. Like right before you meet your soulmate, you'll be tempted by someone who you know is not good for you, but is feeding your neediness and lack in some way.
Lewis Howes
Or you're you have to say no.
David Guillaume
You have to say no. Because what you're doing when you're saying yes to this temporary energy is you're clogging the vessel and you're you're telling the universe that you're trying to expand your vessel for soulmate energy. So you'll be tested by something that, by saying no to that resistance, expands who you are. And then that's when the soulmate comes in so we see this in everything in all competitions. Everything will first be. You'll be tested to be reactive. And if you push through, then you get the price. Then the second thing, the third thing that we're talking about is the adding value part. Everything that you do must be of the consciousness of I am giving and not taking. What's the number one reason why there's a fear of public speaking? I learned this 20 years ago. My mentors told me, if you're scared when you get on a stage, it's because you're trying to take from them and not give to them. Sid, if you went on the stage and said your only job was to tell everybody, Everybody here gets $10,000. Remember when Oprah went on stage and said, everybody gets it. If you go up on stage and say, I be here just to tell you all, then I am personally writing you a check, each of you, for $10,000. You could get in front of a billion people and have no fear telling them that you want to give them $10,000. But if I said, hey, go in front of a billion people and talk about, you know, I don't know, a topic that you like, you're going to be scared. Why? Because you're looking to take something from the audience. You want their approval. You want them to like you. You want to look good. In life, all fear comes from when we're trying to take, when we're actually giving. There's no fear because we're God. We become like God, and there's no fear in God. There's no fear in the Creator. And that is why every time I'm scared or I'm nervous, I remind myself, I'm looking for something here. I'm looking to take something, and I have to then change my consciousness that I'm coming to be a giver. Now, sometimes we don't feel like we're a giver because we didn't really invest in our product. If you don't have a good product and, you know you're kind of tricking the audience, you will always feel inauthentic, and you'll feel scared and you'll feel anxious and part of. Like, we were talking about it before the show, the more you work on your craft, the more you become good at it. You know, one time I was. Anthony Hopkins came to one of my classes, and this is public. He came and he shared the story. I sat with him privately and I asked him. He actually showed me a room in his house, and he said, I want to show you this room. I said, what's. What's in this room? So Anthony Hopkins took me to the room, and he's like, I want to tell you about this room. Every time I get a script, I sit in this room and I read the script 300 times until it becomes seared in my mind and my soul, and it becomes every part of me. And then when I'm filming, I can be a channel. I can be my essence. So what's interesting is he put in the work before so that he could then go and be a giver. If you're overthinking when you're on the stage or you're trying to think about what should I say, what should I not say? It's all about you. You're trying too hard. You're blocking yourself from the infinite. We should never be talking to people from our brain, from our knowledge, from our experience. The only reason he read the script 300 times is so that he could just be done with it and not think about the script anymore and be a force of energy. And that's what we feel from one of the greatest actors of all time. And so, yeah, you gotta put in the work, you gotta do the practice so that you can show up and be in the zone and be in flow and not overthink and be in your head.
Lewis Howes
You mentioned you made a million dollars at 15, but then you kind of went broke for I bet.
David Guillaume
And I lost it all.
Lewis Howes
Then you lost it all, and you went, I guess.
David Guillaume
Then I joined a nonprofit and made no money.
Lewis Howes
Financially broke because. Spiritually rich.
David Guillaume
Spiritually rich.
Lewis Howes
But it sounds like around 35 you started to make money, right? Some real money. 35. 37. Somewhere around that.
David Guillaume
Well, yeah. The company started when I was 30, and the company was doing well, but we were still broke till 37.
Lewis Howes
37. Okay. So around 37, just because a company.
David Guillaume
Is successful doesn't mean you are.
Lewis Howes
Right? Exactly. So around 37, you start to make money. Like a lot of money. Like it all floods in at one moment, right? Yeah. And why weren't you meant to have more money earlier than 37? And why does it take decades for some people to create the wealth that they really want where they feel financially free?
David Guillaume
I asked this question to my mentors once. One of my mentors was very wise, very spiritual, said to him, I said, why did I go through 17 years of poverty, literally? I remember one time asking Meredith, what's your biggest fear? And she said, that we'll come home one day and the locks will be Changed because we haven't paid our rent in stock. I'm like, wow. And so he said to me, he said, you know, you're so blessed that the way the Creator designed your life, some people get successful, then they seek out spirituality, and they don't have the tools to handle the fame, the wealth. This energy that's rushing in, it just shatters their vessel. And the Creator blessed you by giving you the first three quarters of your life to be very difficult, to not have money, to live vicariously through the lives of other people and learn lessons through their life. So many lessons I learned about marriage, about relationships, about building a business. And now that energy does start coming in, you won't take it as seriously. Because the secret to everything in life is when something comes in, if it controls you, you're going to end up losing it. If you depend on something, you must lose it. Anything you depend on in life will eventually leave you in order to teach you how to become your own creator. I remember, and I remember Joe Dispenza said this in your. In your last summit. And I had a similar example. I was in the Hamptons once talking to this very wealthy man. I was in his Hamptons home. Beautiful, beautiful home. He was a young guy, probably in his early 30s. And I said to him, I said, why have a beautiful home? I said, you know, you're. You're. He's an executive and founder of one of the biggest companies in the world. It was his first company. I said to him, what would happen if you lost all this? Like, you have wife, kids, you have lots going on. I remember the whole. He had, like, a can of soda. He opened it up, and he took a sip. He's like, if I lost all of it, well, I guess I would just make it all back. And he was so casual about it. He was so nonchalant about it. I realized to him, none of it controlled him. And because it didn't control him, he was a channel of it. Anything that is, we take too personally or so seriously, or we're. We're afraid if we have it or afraid if we don't. And we're thinking about it, it means it's part of our soul's correction. And so we will always have a difficult relationship with it. It will not flow. Once you have certainty that you'll be wealthy no matter what, or you'll be certainty, or you're loved no matter what, or you are wealth or you are loved, once you're certain about it, then the universe just gives it to you endlessly, and you never have to think about it.
Lewis Howes
But you probably had certainty for 15 years. Hey, I'm wealthy, but you're not creating wealth.
David Guillaume
I started to have certainty about my ability to create wealth for other people.
Lewis Howes
You could impact others to unlock their abundance.
David Guillaume
Oh, my God. I remember my father told me that they were broke until the day I was born. And then wealth came. And I always remember that. I remembered. I said, you know what? I'm the guy that I could. If I'm with you on something, if I'm your friend, if I walk into a room like, I know blessings will come to you. But I was not certain that I could do it for myself. Why not?
Lewis Howes
You were learning this from your mentors and learn and teaching these principles, but you weren't applying it to yourself. Because that way.
David Guillaume
It's such a good question. Because early on in my life, I was taught life is all about being a channel for other people, and you gotta get out of the way. So one of the first things I learned is to delete myself from the equation. Now, that's what I needed to learn in the first part of my life. But what I also learned spiritually is that the point of creation is that the Creator wants us to receive. The word Kabbalah means to receive. So if I'm giving all day long and I'm not in the end receiving for the sake of sharing, I'm also going against the laws of creation. And I learned that in the second half of my life, which is, wait a minute, I am not receiving. And that is the biggest short circuit.
Lewis Howes
And it's blocking your abundance.
David Guillaume
Blocking my abundance and blocking my ability to give to the world. Really? Yeah. Because if I don't have money, I have to depend on other people to buy me stuff. If I do have wealth and status, people are coming to my classes, taking my teachings. I'm talking about building wealth, and I don't have money. And I remember talking to the Creator once in saying, creator, this is making you look bad. I said, stay broke. You look bad. Because I'm talking about how people can connect with this universal energy. And meanwhile, I can't put food on the table. And I remember it was kind of a joke. It's almost like a funny conversation I had with the Creator, but it's actually one that works. Because if it was all about, like, me, me, me, you block the energy because you don't have affinity or form with the laws of creation, with the energy of creation. But I told the Creator, I said, look, give Me what I need to play the part that makes you look good. And the truth is, so many doors opened for me only after I built a business, because people are like, oh, well, I guess. I guess there is something here. Let me learn more about this Kabbalah stuff or this spiritual thought.
Lewis Howes
And it made you more credible.
David Guillaume
It brought more credibility to my platform.
Lewis Howes
Which people need credibility.
David Guillaume
They do.
Lewis Howes
I mean, people need someone else to have credibility to really go all in and invest in what they're saying. For that topic, you might have spiritual credibility, but not financial credibility. Right?
David Guillaume
Correct. Correct. And we are destined to have abundance in every part of our lives, not just one. And that's what I mean. Everywhere I go, I want everybody to know, and I'm not there yet. And I'm not perfect, and I have so much more that I need to work on. But what I do know and what I've been taught and I know it's the truth, that we are meant to have the highest levels of joy, happiness, fulfillment, abundance in every part of our lives. Every part. And we don't have to suffer. Suffering does not have to be the norm. It should be the exception. Life is beautiful. The Creator wants to give us everything. And yes, like the darkness that you went through and the darkness that I went through, and we have challenges. Any darkness you're going through, I promise you. I promise you. I promise you. This is the vessel for something great, and you're not allowed to see it yet.
Lewis Howes
It's interesting. Maybe, like, six years ago, I was going through a breakup, and the person I was dating decided to say a lot of nasty things about me online.
David Guillaume
Right.
Lewis Howes
And it was at a time where my ego was more fragile. So it was probably exactly what my ego needed.
David Guillaume
Yeah.
Lewis Howes
And I was trying to, you know, people were messaging me and ask me questions, is it true?
David Guillaume
What did you do? What did.
Lewis Howes
You know? And it was just like, just a hassle. And it was like, I wanted to look good. I wanted to look right. I wanted to be fair and just. And you don't know the whole story and both say whatever, you know. And as I was going through that, I had Robin Sharma on my show, like, that week, and I was kind of a mess. I was like, oh, man. I'm like, just. My energy was drained. My vessel was shrinking.
David Guillaume
Sure.
Lewis Howes
But I did the interview anyways, and I was kind of telling him this. Like, he was like, how are you doing? And I'm just like, well, that's what I'm going through right now. Right before the show, right before the show. And, you know, I was just being honest. I was like, I'm going through this, and I'm dealing with some challenges. And he said, you know, a bad day for the ego is a great day for the soul. I was like, that's exactly what I need to hear right now. And something unlocked in me in that moment, and I think it's because I'd experienced it. Painful moments in the past, from, you know, getting injured, you know, losing my dream, getting injured playing football, to my dad going through his accident, to just different moments, previous breakups, like, different things that happened. A business partnership that didn't work out, you know, someone stealing a million dollars from me. All these different things that something finally clicks, like, all these bad moments or bad moments that happened in my life, it unlocked something else new for me to where I was in that moment. And when he said that, like, I don't know, a shot of light just went through me that started thinking, oh, I need to have future hindsight. Not hindsight, but I need to see myself in the future and know in the future hindsight. Now this is all happening for me. This is happening to unlock the vessel like you said to, like, it's breaking me open. When someone hurts you, they actually expand you is a quote that you said. And just like, boom. It's like, what he said in that moment, I was like, future hindsight, like, everything that's happened in the past has set me up to be in essentially a better place. So if I know that this is happening for me, it's breaking my ego down. It's releasing me from a person I didn't want to be with. It's letting go. It's cleansing my soul. It's, you know, getting people out of my life who are thinking poorly about me. It's cleansing me. Yeah, this is all happening. My benefit. Like, I started to think that way, and it supported me getting through that season of life by just knowing, all right, I need to feel more pain. And it's like, all right, let it go through me and open me up for more.
David Guillaume
You accept. You let it in at that point.
Lewis Howes
Let it in. I was like, okay, well, I tried to resist things, but then I was like, I can't control this. Correct. It was too much.
David Guillaume
Correct.
Lewis Howes
I can't control all these invisible forces of people saying things or gossip or judgment. I can't force it. I can't control it. And I go, this is happening for me. And I get to accept it. And I'm just going to go through the Process and cleanse. And it was a beautiful thing. It was. You know, it was. I don't want to go through that, but it was a beautiful thing that allowed me to see where I am today. And I want to be in a beautiful, loving relationship today with peace and harmony without that pain.
David Guillaume
Without that pain. So that is possible.
Lewis Howes
So it set me up. Yeah. And I'm grateful for it. You know, it was painful as it was.
David Guillaume
Have you ever shared this story before?
Lewis Howes
I've shared, yeah. Parts of this. Yeah. But it's like as. As much as I didn't want to experience that, the ego did not want to experience that within me, my heart and my soul needed it. And I wouldn't have freed myself from people pleasing, from trying to change who I was to make someone happy without that experience. So it's like the universe or God was like, you keep going down this path, it's not your path. And let's figure out a way to get you out of this. Let's explode your lies. It can open up, right?
David Guillaume
Wow. Either you just said something so beautiful. The number one thing that causes a vessel to stay small is the need for approval. And it is a universal spiritual law that we all crave everyone else's approval. As soon as somebody walks into the room, we immediately think, how do we look? How do I stand? How is this person going to view me? Immediately?
Lewis Howes
Why do we do that?
David Guillaume
The reason is because, you know, I look at. I look at the wall here. We are all meant to be great. And that approval needs to come from the Creator, ultimately. And the way we practice learning how to love our soul, love the Creator, is that we practice with people. And so people in the beginning are the ones that interact with us and kind of teach us how to have a relationship. But ultimately, in order to really give to people, people can't be your primary, your number one. The Creator has to be your number one. Your soul connection to the Creator needs to be your number one. Then you stop taking from the people in the beginning. Yeah, we look for our mother and father's approval. We come out into this world and we need. We depend on other people for energy. But as we get older, and Kabbalah says around the age of 13 is the soul shifts. And your direct connection ultimately needs to be with the Creator. And then you need to start giving to the people. But if you're using people to feel good, you're using people to feel that you are successful and you're using your audience. So one of the things I learned, if you use your audience to feel good about yourself. You're taking from your audience, eventually your audience will turn against you. So you have to look for your approval from a higher source and then never use the people for your validation.
Lewis Howes
It's interesting you say that, because I had a friend of mine, Patrick Ben David, on the show about a year ago, and he was talking about how for, I don't know, 15 years, he was building his business. Maybe it's longer than that, but a long time he was building his business. It got to a massive business. He ended up selling it. I don't know what he sold it for, but it seemed like hundreds of millions, probably in that range or something. And he said he started to shift his content, talking about things he was curious about and interested in, which was around politics and having people that were maybe controversial, but he was just curious about them. And he goes, his team was like, I don't know if you should do this because what if it hurts the business? What if you, like, alienated somebody of our audience? Or what if, like, you have someone on who's done something bad but. And people are going to be offended by it and then that's going to hurt you and your reputation and the business. And he was like, I see all that. And he was kind of holding onto that fear of, like, approval and audience and not losing people and making sure his team was happy and making sure that his audience was happy and that everyone's happy. You know, just keep to stay in my lane. And he said, I started to do this because I felt called to just be more curious about people. It doesn't mean I endorse every person I've interviewed or I believe in everything they've done is good, but I want to learn about them. I want to share certain things and I want to just share with the world. And he said, he says when he started to do that, it actually, everything started to explode. He got some pushback from certain people early on, or people unsubscribed or people in his company left or whatever that didn't like he talking about these things. But things exponentially exploded as he just leaned into what he was curious about, what he felt called to do, despite.
David Guillaume
The fact that people are not going to approve of this.
Lewis Howes
Yeah, a lot of people. A lot of people don't like it. I'm having political leaders on. And different things that he was like, oh, they've said mean things or they. They believe in certain things. He wasn't endorsing them, but he was interviewing them.
David Guillaume
Right, right.
Lewis Howes
And I said, but what if you lost it all? What if you lost everything? What if, like, you keep going down this route and you lose everything? All the money, all the audience, everything. But you had the approval of God still. And he started crying and he got very emotional. He goes, listen, you can remove everything from my life if I have the approval of God. That's all that matters. And I think that's interesting. It's like, but that's real courage. That's it. He was a part owner of the Yankees and he's got hundreds of millions and he's got all the company, the whole thing. He's like, I'm happy to lose it all as long as I have the.
David Guillaume
Approval of one, that's game over.
Lewis Howes
It's scary though, scary for people to like go all in on that and say you might lose everything temporarily or might lose everything for a while or might, you know, things might go from.
David Guillaume
You that might happen.
Lewis Howes
But, but his certainty. Once you go back to the beginning, when you have certainty I'm gonna have certainty that things are gonna turn out okay. I have certainty that I'm gonna figure out a way to make it back. I have certainty that I'll be provided for even if everyone's against me, if one is in my favor, that's all that matters.
David Guillaume
And that is game over. That's peace of mind, that's happiness. Because, I mean, you and I know all these people who are wealthy and they have so many things and the anxiety and the stress of losing it every day and the stress of it.

How do you manage this when you know as you've started to make a lot more money? I don't know what Mar's valuation is at. I think it was public years ago and hundreds of millions. It's probably somewhere from there to a billion valuation. You know, people start to change around you. Friends, family, employees. People start to expect things as you guys continue to make your own decisions as leaders in a business. Some of your employees, customers, team may not respect it or may not agree with it, or may have pushback and say, I don't like this or I want this. How do you deal with that energy from team, employees, friends, family, customers, media that has pushback on your decision or your values or things you want to create?
David Guillaume
Great question. There's a spiritual law.
Lewis Howes
Do you try to please them all? Do you try to manage their expectations? Do you just say, shut up, I'm gonna do whatever we want? Like how do you navigate that.
David Guillaume
Well, one thing that just came to my mind, there's a spiritual law that you will not be judged by the people if you don't judge them. So the minute we judge someone, we have to go through the same thing. So, for example, if I judge someone that they're overweight at that exact moment, my metabolism slows down spiritually, I will end up going through whatever I judge someone else for. Well, why is that a spiritual law? Because I need to. Ultimately, my highest vessel is to have empathy for all of mankind, because we're all one soul. So when I'm judging someone, I'm really hurting a part of myself. And if I want to get to my perfected state, I have to get to a place where I can feel the pain of people as opposed to judging them. And that's. This is huge. And I tell this to people all the time. If you're looking at someone, even a political figure or even someone on TV or you're speaking negatively about them, you will at some point have to go through the same exact thing.
Lewis Howes
Wow.
David Guillaume
Someone's like, oh, look at this person. They can't even ever keep a relationship. You know, they're always from going from one relationship to another, three weeks later, problems in her relationship. It's always going to be like this. And one of the things I've learned is to protect the business, to protect our employees, to protect our customers, because anything can happen at any moment. I've learned not to judge my competitors, not to judge other people who are going through stuff like, really to try to understand and feel the pain of even our competitors. It's an energy intelligence. Yes. It's an. And I actually am friends with most of my competitors. One of my competitors just wrote to me, like direct competitors wrote to me. Do you know of any good employees that I can hire for this part of my company? He knows that he can come to me for that, and I will help him find someone who will be so good to compete against me.
Lewis Howes
Wow.
David Guillaume
And I just know at the end of the day, if I. Because what's for everyone? There's. Oh, there's. There's endless. And what's mine is mine, and what's yours is yours. And no one can take what's yours. The only way someone takes what's yours is if you shrink your vessel by being so reactive, so doubtful, so negative, you shrink your vessel so your competitor takes what's yours and holds onto it for safekeeping until you elevate your consciousness again. Wow. Someone could be with your soulmate right now only because your consciousness isn't ready.
Lewis Howes
You're not ready for it, and you're.
David Guillaume
Not ready for it. You're going to destroy her or him if you were with them. So, yeah, someone's with your soulmate right now, and they're having a great time. You need to elevate your spiritual game. You need to transform your negativity, and then that person must come to you.
Lewis Howes
My fiance, Martha, she's always like, I wish I would have met you, like, 10 years ago. You know, we. We both moved to LA around the same time. I guess was like 13, 14 years ago or something. She's like, I wish we'd have met them. Like, we would have had such an amazing, like, decade together.
David Guillaume
Right.
Lewis Howes
And I always tell her, like, I wasn't ready for you. Like, I. I might have seen you one night out salsa dancing because we both saw sedans and we used to go to the same salsa clubs. I don't remember ever seeing her, but I go, I might have seen you and probably not even thought twice about you. Not have been attracted to you for whatever spiritual reason. I wasn't ready. I didn't heal certain parts of me that I needed to heal or let go of things of me that were holding me back in emotional safety in a relationship. And I'm glad I didn't meet you back then because it wouldn't have worked out. I would have been like, you know, my type, or I'm not ready or I want to be, like, casual. Who knows? I would have just been, like, I wouldn't have been ready for it.
David Guillaume
Correct.
Lewis Howes
And we met at the time where we're both ready. And you weren't ready either. You had to go through certain lessons from your past that you need to break free of that I was sharing with you before that. If you hadn't have done that, we probably wouldn't have been a right match. Yeah. We wouldn't have been in alignment. We would have been two nice people out of alignment. You know what I mean?
David Guillaume
So beautiful people. Pray instead of praying for your problems to go away. Instead of praying to find your soulmate, pray to have the right vessel to be able to hold all of it. Because if you draw in something you're not ready for, it will destroy you and you will destroy it. And that's exactly what you just said about Martha. Everyone's praying to draw stuff in. That stuff wants to come. You don't have to pray.
Lewis Howes
Pray to be ready for it.
David Guillaume
Pray to be ready for it.
Lewis Howes
And that means you have to keep transforming.
David Guillaume
Keep. Pray for certainty, pray for empathy, pray for love. Pray to get over your resentment issues. If you have resentment for anyone in this world, it's pushing your wedding date back three months.
Lewis Howes
Wow.
David Guillaume
You're pushing your soulmate away because your soulmate's a higher soul. You have to elevate your soul to that level. If you have resentment for someone or anger or you're harboring some kind of guilt, your soulmate can't come to you and will be with someone else until you let go of those things. Often it's pain that releases it. Or they could listen to one of your podcasts, be inspired to release it. That's a merciful way of transforming who they are. And here's. Here's another question people always ask. What if I'm married or in a relationship? But I don't think it's my soulmate. What do we know?
Lewis Howes
That's tough.
David Guillaume
So one of the things I've learned is a soulmate is a soul, not a body. Which means that if you do enough. And I've seen this, if you do enough spiritual work, you could wake up one day, and the soul of your soulmate enters the man or woman you're with, and they become a different person, really. I have seen people who do such intense spiritual work. They come home one day and they go, I don't even recognize my husband. It's a different person. You actually drew a different soul into their body because you've now earned that. You don't have to divorce the person. The relationship doesn't have to end. You just have to do your work. I promise you, you'll get everything that is yours.
Lewis Howes
Wow. That's crazy, man. You have a. You have a clip online that says when you kiss someone, you receive a part of their spirit. The reason why is because there's something that I did that relates to this. And you say when you kiss someone, you receive a part of their spiritual baggage. When you kiss someone, you begin to receive a part of their soul.
David Guillaume
Yeah.
Lewis Howes
I think it's even deeper when you have sex with someone.
David Guillaume
Yes. I didn't put that clip up yet.
Lewis Howes
People assume from the kiss, but I made a commitment with Martha. We made a commitment together. She always reminds me, we made a commitment together, that we were going to remove sex from the equation and really get to know each other spiritually for a number of months. And we spent a lot of quality time together while removing that part of the relationship. It was the best decision I ever made. It was one of the hardest things I ever did, you know, as an. With an ego that I have, sure. Like, you know, not with desires, temptations. It was like, you know, I had to, like, curb that, the ego desire, but it was the best thing. And just you saying, like, when you kiss someone, you receive a part of their spiritual baggage. You receive. You begin to receive a part of their soul. I think the chemical bonding of sexual. Before getting to know someone more emotionally and spiritually is so scary how much bonding that creates chemically and confuses you from getting to know them spiritually, emotionally, financially, relationally, that it blocks you seeing a lot of those things that I think later could hurt you if you're not in alignment on all those things.
David Guillaume
Correct. So when there is a kiss, the breath creates a soul connection. Right. Everyone's saying, I'm looking for a soul connection. Well, here it is. Your souls connect, and your soul is carrying these positive and negative spiritual baggages and qualities from past life. And so when we are intimate with intercourse, it says, actually you draw to the person all of the spiritual baggage of their past partners as well. And this is why, you know, once sex is in the equation, there's a lot of energy, there's a lot of influence, a lot of emotions. You start to feel things that almost aren't you at times because you are carrying now a heavier weight. The way to protect yourself from that is in that beginning period, you do things in order, just like you said, you get to know them. And this creates a protection that eventually when sex for the right reason and the love is there, that connection happens. Then the negativity dissipates and there's more of a positive connection. You're not bringing in the spiritual baggage from someone else.
Lewis Howes
Right. You're cleansing through the getting to know process.
David Guillaume
Getting to know process is an immunity. It's a. It's a protective layer to prepare your vessel for the highest level of energy, which is sex. Because sex is, you know, what are the two hardest things for people to resist in this world? It's the two areas that create or sustain life. The mouth is used to sustain life because we eat. And the sexual organ creates life. And it's the place where the negative side, this negative forces of this world enter themselves.
Lewis Howes
Wow.
David Guillaume
And that's why evil speech creates the most destruction in the world. And there's about 10 different kinds of evil speech. And every negative word that we say. We can go through the categories. Every negative word we say creates a negative force in this world that is blocking another level of your Fulfillment.
Lewis Howes
Oh, what is that?
David Guillaume
So let's say we, I don't know. I don't know what the exact number is. Let's say there's, I think it's like, you know, let's say we say 10,000 words in a day and let's assume 95% of them are negative. What are the categories? Complaining, lying, brown nosing, meaning every word I say to look for someone's approval. Gossip that's true, Gossip that's false. Two separate categories. Saying words that are unnecessary, just talking and everyone's like, stop talking, like there's no value to what you're saying is also negative speech as well. Yeah. So these are the main categories.
Lewis Howes
And, and when you use those negative speech categories consistently, what are you saying to God of the universe?
David Guillaume
So every word is a negative force or a negative angel. So you can imagine you surround yourself with 10,000 negative forces and angels, and each of them are fighting and making everything difficult for you. So let's say you drop your phone on the floor and it cracks. That's, you know, a hundred of these forces. Who manifested that for you? Let's say there's a car accident or a parking ticket, or all of a sudden you get sick. Sickness happens to cleanse all those forces. And that's why people feel enlightened after sickness, or they feel more spiritual. They feel like clearer things open up because there's a cleansing of these negative forces. I always tell people, you want to be successful, shut your mouth, just don't talk, because then you're not creating any more negative forces.
Lewis Howes
That's why I listen and do this interview.
David Guillaume
You know, when you're listening, people who listen, the quiet people, are always the more successful ones. And also never talk about what you're working on for the first 40 to 90 days because you draw other people's jealousy and evil eye, which begins to energetically sabotage what you're doing. People who prosper in silence prosper quicker as soon as you start telling people about your ideas, even people you think love you. If it awakens lack in someone, it begins to steal energy from what you're doing. For example, pregnancy takes about 90 days for the soul of the child to come into the embryo. And those 90 days are very vulnerable. And so there's a spiritual law that you should not tell anyone unless it's a need to know basis, like her partner, obviously, and a doctor. But if you tell, for example, a sibling, a brother or a sister, and let's say they don't have children, and they go they're happy you have a child, but they're like, you know, I wish I had a child.
Lewis Howes
Creating lack, jealousy, envy.
David Guillaume
It's passive evil lie. That lack begins to draw and siphon energy from the baby, even a little.
Lewis Howes
Wow.
David Guillaume
And it could disturb the soul coming down. One of the main reasons behind a miscarriage can be the disturbance of other people's energy. Really?
Lewis Howes
Because you mentioned before that you had multiple miscarriages.
David Guillaume
We had four. We had four. Four. Four miscarriages before we had four children.
Lewis Howes
That's. How was that for you? Experienced that you and your wife?
David Guillaume
I remember Mary Ruth was working so hard at the time. She used to have one on one sessions all day long because we were. We were so broke that we had to find a way to make money. She would meet people from 9 in the morning to 11 at night.
Lewis Howes
Do you think because she was working so hard, her body created a miscarriage or was it something else?
David Guillaume
Well, there is the physical component to it, where if you're stressed and you're working hard, you're not creating the physical environment for the child to the vessel to be. Yeah, well, you really have to think about the spiritual side of it and the consciousness, which is, we were working so hard, we were so broke. It was such a difficult time. There could have been a part of us that subconsciously said, we are not ready for children.
Lewis Howes
We don't. Because it's going to be even harder if we're already broke and it's exhausting already. It's going to be even harder to bring a child in this. This world.
David Guillaume
Correct. And we knew that every child brings blessings, but there was also part of us that we just knew we weren't ready. And I often tell people who are having trouble getting pregnant, really, just make sure that all your desires are aligned. Because there could be a subconscious part of you that is saying, I don't want this child at this exact moment.
Lewis Howes
The competing belief. Right.
David Guillaume
That's the competing belief right there. Exactly.
Lewis Howes
Interesting.
David Guillaume
And by the way, those four miscarriages in the toughest time of our life was also okay when it happens. You know, I remember one time she had a miscarriage in a meeting with someone. She went. It's a painful story. She went to the bathroom, had the miscarriage, came back and took six more meetings.
Lewis Howes
Come on.
David Guillaume
She just knew. She's like, I have to take care of my family. And she came home that night and she told me about it. And I was like, Jess, I'm like, why did you take the rest of the day Off. She said, I knew I couldn't. We had to pay our bills.
Lewis Howes
How did that make you feel as the man in the relationship if you weren't bringing in the financial stability or abundance to create peace and harmony for your female partner?
David Guillaume
No one's ever asked me this question. And you really just touched upon something that was one of my biggest pain points and insecurities because I was teaching spirituality in the world, not getting paid for it for a nonprofit. But that was how I was bringing my light to the world and my masculine energy. However, I wasn't making any money. And when I saw that, that was the day I remember after that miscarriage, I went to her. I said, I'm leaving what I'm doing.
Lewis Howes
Wow.
David Guillaume
And I'm going to go get a job and we're going to. I'm going to really. I'm going to find a way to make more money to support our situation. She looked at me and she said, you are destined in this world to do what you're doing. I do not want you to leave what you're doing. You will have to stay and we will figure out another way to make money. Because she believed in me and she trusted the way I bring light to the world. Weeks later, we came up with the idea for Mary with her Holy cow. I tell this to people and their partners. Never put down the way, you know, your partner brings light to the world, shines when they shine. She could have easily said, yeah, go get a job. If she said, no, we'll figure it out.
Lewis Howes
That's inspiring. I mean, in some ways it sounds like some people may not like this, but it sounds like there was something still lacking in you to be the ultimate provider for your family, even though you were providing spiritually for so many people and for the family, but you weren't providing financially.
David Guillaume
Correct.
Lewis Howes
And what was probably something you felt you were supposed to do.
David Guillaume
That's why Marriage Organics was built between the hours of 10pm and 2am every night for the first two, three years.
Lewis Howes
Wow.
David Guillaume
She would go to sleep at 10 to be up for her clients. I would stay up from 10 to 2. I slept on the floor in the living room for the first two years because I didn't want to disturb her. And I was googling how to do Amazon and manufacturing, design, marketing. And I learned in those four hours, and I do believe that I got to spend a day helping humanity and helping people, volunteering my time, that the Creator created that blessing for us, that in the night I could help run the business.
Lewis Howes
Wow.
David Guillaume
Yeah. And we didn't have any employees for the first five years. Our first 10 million of revenue was just Maruth, myself and her and my mother in law, Colleen. And we were a unit, we were a team and we did everything together.
Lewis Howes
First five years.
David Guillaume
First five years, just all the money.
Lewis Howes
You'Re making, you put it back into product and development, back into product, backed.
David Guillaume
Into quality, back into it. And Mary with used to say all the time, profit equals the freedom to give back more to our employees ultimately. And the products just make their products better and better. She just said, keep making the products better and better and people will feel that energy. So we just put the money all back there.
Lewis Howes
Wow. First five years.
David Guillaume
Yeah.
Lewis Howes
That's crazy, man.
David Guillaume
And there's a limited belief people think that they need to like raise all this money in the beginning and hire all this talent. You are the. We are so talented. There's so much inside of us and with the right consciousness, we can create miracles. We don't need all these other energies getting involved.
Lewis Howes
It's true. That's true, man. This is powerful stuff. I've got a lot more questions I want to ask you, but I want to get to the end here because I think this is a lot for people. We'll have to have you back on and share some more, but I've got two final questions for you. But before we get into that, I want people to follow you over on Instagram.
David Guillaume
Thank you.
Lewis Howes
It's David Guillaume. David Guillaume on Instagram. David guillaume.com G H I Y A M dot com. We've got a lot more of these universal spiritual tools and wisdom that you teach for free on your website. On Instagram. You do workshops as well. What are some of the workshops that you do over on your website?
David Guillaume
So there's a. There's a course I've been teaching for the last 20 years called Kabbalah 1. And it's interesting. I had a guy take this course probably like eight, nine years ago. It changed his life, made him into a billionaire, literally. The content he learned spiritually changed his consciousness, helped him build several successful and had several. Three successful exits in a row. He came to me, donated $2 million to create a masterclass of this course. And we created it. It's called kabbalahone.com and people can pay whatever they want for it. A dollar fifty, it's all, it goes to charity. And this is the course that people from all around the world are taking. My whole page, none of it's monetized for me. All of it is to give back to charity.
Merrill Advisor
What's the site?
David Guillaume
The site is kabbalahone.com K A B B A L A H O N E. And it's a beautifully produced masterclass that goes step by step through all the spiritual laws of our soul. Why we're here. How to create prosperity, the laws of relationships, consciousness, healing. Any question you have about life is addressed in that course. And it's been the most popular thing in the last five years. It's gone to everyone.
Lewis Howes
Wow.
David Guillaume
Yeah.
Lewis Howes
That's beautiful, man. So people can go to kabbalahone.com, check it out. We'll have all this linked up as well. Social media. But how else can we be of service to you today?
David Guillaume
You know, I, my, my life, the greatest joy that I get is from bringing this wisdom to the world. You know, running a business, making money. I think it's nice. It brings the. It engages my creative side for sure. But the most passionate thing for me is finding a way to make God look good. I always say, like, what would make God has a bad name? It's like religion kind of gave it a bad name. You know, religiosity, dogma. And I think I want the world to know that in the way my life has been blessed from learning this wisdom and applying it. And the God is very good. Like, this creation is very good. The world is good. People are very, very good. I've. I've had some of the, quote, unquote, worse people come to me and when I've talked with them, like, everyone has a soul and everyone, everyone has a heart somewhere deep down behind all that negativity and just having that certainty that there is a life waiting for all of us. We can have everything that we want. And then just to spread that message more and more and just that's all I want. You know, I don't have a product to sell, and the content that I put out in the world is just. It's for the people. And so that's what mean a lot to me. People learn the content and then just be an example of that everywhere they go.
Lewis Howes
Yeah. Make, make God shine.
David Guillaume
Make God shine. Make God make, make, make God look good. Make God look good. God is sexy. You know, it's like saying being one with the Creator is very. It's cool. It's like you get everything. The creator controls everything. Like, you can have everything. Who doesn't want to have everything? Even becoming the president of a country, it's so limited. It's like, it's like, okay, you get a little, you have a little power. You control 100 million people. The Creator influences the entire universe. Every tree, every plant, every blade of grass, the oceans, all the angels, all the forces of this world, every human. It's like become one with that. It's like a universal GPS you plug into it. It's like Waze. You just tell your destination and Waze tells you where to go. And even when you make a mistake, this is how God works.
Lewis Howes
Course correct.
David Guillaume
Course corrects. It says recalculating with no judgment. Every time you make a spiritual mistake or you fail or you, you go backwards, don't worry, the Creator just says recalculating. I will get you there. And if you want to on purpose, go against it and keep making the wrong left turn ways, just keep says recalculate.
Lewis Howes
It might take you longer to get there longer.
David Guillaume
But there's no judgment, there's no guilt, there's no shame, there's no fear. Creator loves you.
Lewis Howes
That's beautiful, David. I've got two final questions before I ask them. I want to acknowledge you, David, for being of service your whole life. It sounds like, except for the, you know, the gambling job that you had. But the most of your life has been about being of service, continuing to learn to create your own vessel and to serve. And so I want to acknowledge you for the gift that you are and for making God look good.
David Guillaume
Thank you.
Lewis Howes
By showing up, by serving, by creating value, by constantly coaching people and, and then also showing what's possible spiritually, but also financially and saying how can I transform and create financial wealth for myself and my family. And so I want to acknowledge you for breaking through that limiting belief or competing belief that you might have had and being able to do both hands. And I'm excited to see what you continue to create and how you continue to serve and generate moving forward. This is a question I ask everyone at the end called the Three Truths. Hypothetical question. You get to live as long as you want, but it's your last day and you get to create, generate, experience, everything you, you desire. But for whatever reason on the last day, everything you've created, all the content, this conversation, your businesses, for whatever reason, everything's gone and it goes somewhere else. It's not here in this world anymore. But on the last day, you get to leave behind three lessons to the world. I call it Three Truths. This is all we would have to kind of remember your content by. What would be those three lessons for you?
David Guillaume
My first lesson would be every single thing is Good. And the uglier, darker it looks. Even this is good because it all comes from the Creator. The second thing I would say is don't judge anyone, because there is a reason why everyone does what they do. And if you were in their shoes and you had their baggage and you had their past life and you had their soul's correction, you would be going through the same thing. And the third thing is to know that the Creator wants to give you everything unlimited. Like the. The amount that you, as a parent, would want to give to your child. The Creator wants to give you millions of times more. And you deserve it. And you will have it. You're guaranteed to have it. How long it takes is our only free will. Mm. And can I say one thing that I learned from you?
Lewis Howes
Sure.
David Guillaume
You know, I obviously heard a lot about you coming here. I heard so many amazing things. But we. I think we spent a good hour back there. You were kind of telling me your story, and I love hearing people's story about how they build. And obviously most people don't know this because you give me the behind the scenes information, but I learned just how patient you are with everything that you do and the energy of authenticity I felt because you've said no. The audience probably doesn't know this, but you've said no to so many things that could have probably generated more wealth or more fame, and instead you stuck to what was authentic and valuable for you and your audience. The second thing I noticed, because you just did it for me on the show, too, is you were always giving more value to people than you're asking for from them, which I've noticed to be the success formula of every successful person I've ever met. And, yeah, you have a huge platform. You're giving people, your audience that you've built for your whole life, and you're not really, you know, you're not really asking for much. And I've seen it. I've seen, and I know it from people who've come on your show. So there are a couple of valuable lessons for me there. And it's just the patience of the authenticity because I'm the kind of person that always thinks, so how do I. How do I get farther ahead?
Lewis Howes
Sure.
David Guillaume
And I think it's very valuable. Slow and steady wins the race. Appreciate it. Thanks, man.
Lewis Howes
I appreciate that. Acknowledgement. Final question, David, what's your definition of greatness?
David Guillaume
I think the definition of greatness for me would be everywhere you go, people can be blessed because of you. And there's just. By your presence or your words. You create greatness. You create miracles. You create healing. People's consciousness goes up because you walked into the room. Even if you don't have to say anything because of your vibration or because of the work you did when nobody was looking. I think there's no greater gift that we can give to mankind and I know that's what fuels me. It's all the stuff that we do when nobody's looking. That's what greatness is for me.

Summary of "How To MANIFEST ANYTHING With The Secret Laws of The Universe | David Ghiyam" on The School of Greatness
In this enlightening episode of The School of Greatness, host Lewis Howes engages in a profound conversation with David Guillaume, co-founder of Merry Ruth Organics and a leading speaker on Kabbalah. David delves deep into the spiritual laws of the universe, manifestation, and the importance of aligning one’s consciousness to unlock true abundance. This summary captures the essence of their discussion, highlighting key insights, personal anecdotes, and transformative principles.
David begins by sharing his remarkable journey—earning his first million dollars at the tender age of 15 through stock market trading. However, his early success was overshadowed by personal struggles, including gambling and financial instability. At 19, David graduated from UCLA early to dedicate himself fully to spiritual work, teaching spirituality to wealthy individuals and celebrities in Los Angeles. Despite helping thousands globally, David faced significant financial hardships, leading him to reevaluate his belief systems.
Notable Quote:
[00:00] David Guillaume: "Whatever your desires are, it means you are meant to receive them at some point. Don't question that."
David explains that manifestation is inherently tied to one’s vibration and belief systems. He likens the soul to a vessel—much like a bulb that can hold energy. For one to draw in abundance, love, or healing, their vessel must be transformed to hold higher energy. This transformation is guided by ancient wisdom from Kabbalah, which teaches how to align consciousness to become the perfect vessel for blessings.
Notable Quote:
[02:31] David Guillaume: "We are destined to have abundance in every part of our lives, not just one."
A significant portion of the discussion centers on how limiting and competing belief systems lower one’s vibration, thereby hindering manifestation. David identifies two main types:
Limited Belief Systems: These are foundational beliefs that restrict what one feels deserving of. For example, believing that wealth leads to dysfunction can subconsciously sabotage financial success.
Competing Belief Systems: These arise when there are conflicting desires, such as wanting business growth but subconsciously fearing the responsibilities it entails, leading to self-sabotage.
Notable Quote:
[06:24] David Guillaume: "Probably the top of the list. It has to do with limited belief systems and competing belief systems."
David introduces the concept of pain acting as a spiritual circuit breaker. When negative actions and vibrations accumulate, pain intervenes to cleanse and reset one’s vessel, allowing for spiritual growth and the expansion of capacity to receive blessings. This mechanism ensures that individuals confront and release negativity, paving the way for a higher vibration.
Notable Quote:
[03:36] David Guillaume: "Pain comes in to cleanse a person of negativity, then expands their vessel again."
To shift one’s belief system and embrace possibility, David emphasizes the importance of certainty beyond logical reasoning. He advocates for daily affirmations (mantras) to reprogram the subconscious mind and surrounding oneself with successful, positivity-oriented individuals to draw in higher vibrations.
Furthermore, David highlights that serving others enriches one’s own vessel. By adding value and being of service without expecting anything in return, individuals align with universal laws that foster continuous growth and abundance.
Notable Quotes:
[16:27] David Guillaume: "If you say something, a mantra, over and over again, even if you're faking it in the beginning, your body, your mind and your soul will comply with that vibration."
[17:17] David Guillaume: "It's all about the customer. All about service. And when you have that mindset, everything opens up and grows."
David candidly shares his battle with perfectionism, which led to excessive guilt and shame whenever he fell short of his own high standards. This internal pressure not only drained his energy but also slowed his spiritual and professional progress. Through learning to accept imperfection and embracing authenticity, David began to rebuild his vessel, fostering a more stable and genuine foundation for both personal and business growth.
Notable Quote:
[19:23] David Guillaume: "I am such a perfectionist that everything I do, I've always felt has to be the best."
Turning adversity into opportunity, David and his wife Mary Ruth founded Merry Ruth Organics. They focused on reinvesting profits to enhance product quality, embodying the principle that prosperity enables greater capacity to give back. Their approach intertwined spiritual consciousness with business operations, ensuring that every aspect of the company resonated with high vibrations and an unlimited mindset.
David recounts pivotal moments, such as securing placements in Whole Foods through spiritual alignment and manifesting exponential growth by maintaining a positive consciousness despite financial setbacks.
Notable Quote:
[30:24] David Guillaume: "We just put the money all back there."
The conversation delves into the dynamics of relationships and how personal growth affects one’s capacity to connect authentically. David explains that true soulmates appear when one's vessel is sufficiently expanded to handle the depth of such connections. He emphasizes the importance of overcoming resentment, anger, and limiting beliefs to allow love to flow unimpeded.
David also discusses strategies for maintaining healthy relationships, such as building trust by aligning with a partner on a spiritual and emotional level before introducing elements like intimacy, ensuring that connections are grounded in mutual growth and authenticity.
Notable Quote:
[43:12] David Guillaume: "Pray to have the right vessel to be able to hold all of it."
David shares powerful stories illustrating how embracing certainty and releasing the need for external approval can lead to miraculous transformations. He recounts instances where facing unexpected challenges with a positive outlook catalyzed significant breakthroughs in his business and personal life.
Additionally, David touches upon the importance of not judging others, as judgement creates similar negative energies that ultimately hinder one’s own growth and vessel expansion.
Notable Quote:
[62:53] David Guillaume: "Everything is good because it comes from the Creator."
As the episode concludes, Lewis asks David to share his "Three Truths"—lessons he would leave behind if all his work were to disappear. David’s profound insights encapsulate his teachings:
Notable Quote:
[116:43] David Guillaume: "My first lesson would be every single thing is Good. And the uglier, darker it looks. Even this is good because it all comes from the Creator."
In his final thoughts, David defines greatness not by personal achievements but by the ability to bless others through one’s presence and actions. True greatness, he asserts, lies in creating miracles, healing, and elevating the consciousness of those around you without seeking recognition.
Notable Quote:
[119:35] David Guillaume: "I think the definition of greatness for me would be everywhere you go, people can be blessed because of you."
This episode offers a compelling blend of personal narrative and spiritual wisdom, guiding listeners on how to align their consciousness and belief systems to manifest abundance effortlessly. David Guillaume’s insights into the spiritual laws of the universe provide practical tools for overcoming limitations, expanding one’s vessel, and creating a life of genuine greatness through service and authenticity.
