Anthropic signed for more than 300 megawatts of compute capacity at xAI’s Colossus 1 supercomputer in Memphis - the same xAI whose CEO publicly called Anthropic’s safety policies “evil” earlier this year.

The Anthropic-SpaceX deal pushes Anthropic’s disclosed compute commitments past $330 billion against $30-40 billion in current revenue, and it arrives because compute scarcity has become more powerful than the rivalries that were supposed to organize this industry. Roughly half of more than $2 trillion in cloud backlog now traces back to OpenAI and Anthropic, with Google investing $40 billion in Anthropic while Anthropic commits $200 billion back to Google Cloud, and Amazon investing up to $33 billion while Anthropic commits $100 billion to AWS. Labs that called each other existential threats six months ago are structurally entangled with each other’s infrastructure.

Anthropic co-founder Jack Clark published a 60% probability that recursive AI self-improvement occurs before the end of 2028. He showed the curves: METR’s autonomous task-completion horizon went from 30 seconds in 2022 to 12 hours in April 2026. SWE-Bench moved from 2% to 93.9%. Anthropic’s internal benchmark for AI optimizing AI training code went from 2.9x to 52x in less than a year. The capital architecture is being deployed against those curves.

AEP CEO Bill Fehrman told analysts AEP is reviewing whether to remain in PJM and SPP, with 63 GW of contracted new large load coming by 2030 and a 190 GW active pipeline. Mira Murati testified under oath that Sam Altman lied to her about whether OpenAI’s legal department had cleared a model from the deployment safety board. RedAccess found more than 5,000 vibe-coded apps spilling medical records and corporate documents to anyone with the URL. A Carnegie Mellon, MIT, Oxford, and UCLA randomized trial of 1,222 participants found that AI configured to give direct answers reduced persistence on subsequent unassisted problems while AI configured to give hints did not - a design distinction educators can build the next round of AI-integrated tooling against. And Moderna’s mRNA flu vaccine outperformed standard shots by 27% in a 40,000-person Phase 3 trial published in the New England Journal of Medicine.
