The DeepMind mediation lands a frontier-AI governance dispute inside a statutory labor framework that has been adjudicating conscientious objection in contracted work since 1975. Researchers are using the legal substrate that already exists, building the record that future tribunals will cite. The May 5 unionization vote at the same lab now has a mediation case attached to it, and the engineer who told the Guardian he was sacked after protesting work for Israel is part of the same trajectory.

Retatrutide’s 28.3% figure extends a category that did not exist as a therapeutic option a decade ago: semaglutide cleared in the mid-teens, tirzepatide around 20%, retatrutide near 30%. The infrastructure built around obesity as a behavioral condition - cardiovascular trials, insurance coverage, food formulation, metabolic surgery economics - now sits downstream of biology the new molecules have moved.

The humanoid arm story carries the wonder. A Wired writer spent the week watching a low-cost LeRobot arm fold towels and pour water in his kitchen, with Claude generating Python motion code against the new CaP-X benchmark - no end-to-end neural policy, no demonstration data, retasked in conversation. The bottleneck in home robotics has shifted to the planning layer, and the planning layer is now good enough. 1Password and OpenAI shipped an MCP server that hands coding agents just-in-time credentials without persisting secrets, Microsoft open-sourced Rampart and Clarity to compress week-long security audits into hours, US grid storage installations hit 9.7 GWh in Q1 with the 2030 forecast revised up to 610 GWh, and Boston Metal closed a $75M round to extend molten oxide electrolysis from green steel into rare earths and battery-grade inputs.
