And this really came in down to a real dark moment. Actually, many years ago, I write about this in my book the Light Work, when I was visiting with a friend who actually, ironically, is a Western astrologer. And I was on her sofa in a puddle, crying my ass off, feeling like a total fucking failure because my business had plateaued, Okay? I had been up on this straight ascension hockey stick of a P and L profit and loss statement. I was making more money year over year for five years. And then it just stopped. And I lost who I was. I completely fell apart. And I made it mean that I was a failure. And that was really the beginning of my burnout and the darkest chapter of my life. And I remember my friend sitting across from me on the sofa, and she was like, jessica, you're. You're hooked into a lie called the linear construct of time. And it's all made up. It's not even real. It was actually created by a Pope Gregory VIII in 1592. It's called the Gregorian calendar that we ascribe our entire lives around. We live and die by that calendar. And she said to me in that conversation, if all things in life are nature, Jessica, and do you believe that is true? And I said, yes, I believe that's true. She said, well, that includes your business. Everything goes in cycles and rhythms. Seasons of death, seasons of rebirth, expansion, contraction. And it was from that moment forward that I started to really question my own programming and to Unlock my own locks. And it really shifted the trajectory of my entire business. And so I'm giving you a very important key today, and I hope that you really take it and you start to turn it into your lock. So let's get into astrology, Chinese Zodiac, I'm not even really going to call this, like Astrology 101. This is really about how the ancients kept time and how they applied that wisdom to the way that they led. Because most female leaders have never really been taught how time actually works. And the way that you relate to time determines everything. The way you relate to your money, your growth, your power. And so by the end of this episode, I really want you to walk away understanding why the Chinese zodiac exists, why it's radically different from Western astrology, and why 2026 specifically is the most important year I believe we'll ever have as female entrepreneurs. And I'm not exaggerating that point. Okay, so Western astrology, let's just start here in the most clear, comparative, non judgmental way. We love Western astrology. I'm a Leo Sun, Cancer, Moon, Virgo rising. I love my Capricorns out there. Shout out to my Virgos, my Tauruses, my Pisces. I love me an Aquarius, you guys. So, like, we're here for the Western astrologies, but Western astrology is really focused on personality, right? Like psychology. Who am I? What's my identity? What's my unique life path? Where are the stars going to be the most aligned for me? And that's the question, who am I? Right. The Chinese zodiac is not based on solar energy. It is based on lunar energy. It focuses on cycles and seasons and collective consciousness. So the Chinese zodiac doesn't ask, who am I? It asks the question, what kind of year is this and how do I move within it? So Western astrology, you could call, is our internal map. And the Chinese zodiac is the external terrain. One explains the driver, if you will, and the other explains the road. All right, so let's talk about the road. Let's talk about the legend of the Jade Emperor, who back in about, I don't know, 3,000 years ago, I think I read it was like the year 200 BCE. According to Taoist mythology, this Jade Emperor called all the animals to a race. And the animals that would cross the finish line would make it into the Chinese zodiac to imprint their animal spirit for the rest of time. And the order in which they arrived in this race determined the zodiac cycle. So it starts at the rat, it ends at the pig. In the middle there is, of course, the snake and the horse. And next year we're going to be in the goat, and we'll have a big long conversation about that in 27. But each animal represents a frequency, a medicine, a strategy for life, for growth, for leadership, for soul connection. These animals are not cute little mascots. They're archetypal intelligence patterns that really have so much to teach us. And every year is asking us to work with that animal's energy. So last year was the Year of the Snake, which was like, as we all know, a pretty wild fucking year where we did a lot of shedding and rebirth. The year before that was the year of the Dragon, which was really around establishing authority and. And having a vision for where you were going. And the snake came in right after that and had to shed everything that was standing in the way of that. And now here we are in the year of the Horse, which is inviting us to finally run with it. Now that we've cleared the path, now that we've set the vision, now that we've cleared the path, it's time to run free. Now, on top of these animals, every two years, we get a different element. So each zodiac sign, each animal is paired with a unique element. And that element sticks around for two years. So we're just coming out of the wood element. So it was the year of the wood dragon in 24, the year of the wood snake in 25. And now we are moving into the Fire Horse, and it will be the Fire Goat next year, okay? And then it'll move on to Earth. And there's metal and there's water. And each of these five elements, of course, you think of wood, you think of growth, you think of sturdiness, you think of creation, right? With fire, it's about life force and courage and destruction and rebirth. Earth is around sustainability and nourishment and integration. Metal represents boundaries and refinement and discernment. And water, as I'm sure you can guess, is around depth and intuition and restoration, right? So each element moves through the different unique energy in tandem with that animal that is really activating and revealing deeper parts of you, deeper parts of your subconscious, deeper parts of the collective that if we really start to connect the dots and see what we're working with and compare it to what's happening in our realities. Let's just say that these ancient Chinese mystics and Taoist mystics were up to something, knew what they were talking about. And on top of the animal, we also have to remember that we move through the energies of yin and yang. So last year was a Yin year. The snake was the Yin Wood Snake. Before that, in 24, it was the Yang Wood Dragon. And now we're heading into another yang year with the fire horse. Yin years are typically more internal years. They're more receptive years, they're more incubating years. They're typically the years we do a lot of healing. And yang years are all around expression and being visible and action oriented and external. So if you didn't catch that 2026 is a Yang fire horse energy, I don't think you can ask for a holy trinity of power and ferocity and energy than what's coming now. I want to honor in my deepest bow of awe and reverence the Eastern cultures that we in this country, if you're listening to this, at least in the western hemisphere, you know, have adopted and followed. But they were our original teachers, they were our original sages that really understood how to work with the natural cycles of the earth and the moon and the seasons and the agriculture of all living beings here and its connection to the cosmos. We have so much to learn from them as Western culture really adopted the Gregorian calendar, which is celebrated and known for efficiency and commerce and ultimately control, which is why I always find January 1st to be so counterintuitive. To me, it's not an energetic reset at all. The lunar new year is. It aligns with renewal and the spring energy that's about to come in March and the reemergence of all of us coming out of our winter cocoons. And it's really an opportunity for us to just examine our own framing when one system, if you're at least listening here in the Western part of the world, were raised to really prioritize productivity, while the other side of the planet, like this whole other hemisphere on the other side of the world in Asia, prioritizes harmony. So I invite you to really align to this energy in any way that you can. And I really hope you join me at the feminine wealth ignite, because that's exactly what I designed it for. Because when we do, when we really get clarity on what is happening this year and who we want to be as we move through this energy. Remember, you're the driver, but the driver needs the road. We have a lower tolerance for misalignment because fire will burn away everything that is false. We have a heightened sense of courage that rewards us when we're visible. And so this is really your yeah, year from a horse medicine perspective. To break free, to step up, to be seen, to trust your own decisions, to feel into your own independence, to have a clear direction of where you are going on this road called the Year of the Yang Fire Horse.
