Tay
Where are we?
Taylor
We are in New Orleans at the Super Bowl. We are here with Abercrombie. Wearing Abercrombie.
Tay
Always. We may or may not have a special surprise guest. Aiden Hutchinson, welcome back to the Squeeze. It's been so long.
Aiden Hutchinson
Yeah, not too long. I mean, look at us.
Tay
Didn't see this coming.
Aiden Hutchinson
I know.
Tay
Last time we talked to you you did make us a promise and that was you would be at the Super Bowl. Not sure this is what you had in mind, but you are a man of your word.
Aiden Hutchinson
Yeah. You know, I think the universe works in mysterious ways.
Taylor
We obviously have to talk about it. Sadly, we have to talk trauma. Talk about the fans having trouble processing.
Aiden Hutchinson
This through the lines.
Tay
It does feel a bit like you got Che on.
Aiden Hutchinson
That's the business side of things that put a bad taste in your mouth about the NFL. It just. It. It reminds you that it's this is we're not just playing football. You're gone. You're gone, you're gone. Like, I cannot wait to play football again, dude. Like, I cannot wait. Once I can step back in there for week one, whenever that is like that, that is what I look forward to.
Tay
Aiden's going to be comeback and defensive player.
Aiden Hutchinson
It's not bad, huh?
Tay
Yeah, I like it.
Taylor
When life gives you lemons, what do you do with them?
Tay
Over here at the Squeeze, we talk about it. Hello, Hello. Happy Wednesday and welcome to the Squeeze.
Taylor
Yee haw. You may notice we are not in the studio.
Tay
Yeah.
Taylor
That is because we are in a different studio.
Tay
Where are we?
Taylor
We are in New Orleans at the Super Bowl. We are here with Abercrombie. We are wearing Abercrombie.
Tay
Always.
Taylor
Always. No, literally, you always. Actually, no.
Tay
This was a dream for me, to be honest. Abercrombie reached out and was like, you want to come to the super bowl and do like, a special episode with us?
Taylor
Yeah.
Tay
And I was like, wait, I'm football The Super Bowl Abercrombie?
Taylor
Yeah.
Tay
Yes. Sign me up. I literally wear Abercrombie from head to toe.
Taylor
He's not just saying this, like, actually, it's really true.
Tay
No, we were talking before, I'd say a few months ago, our friends kind of had like, an intervention with me.
Taylor
Yeah.
Tay
And they were like, you know, because Tay's five years younger than me. And so, you know, we have some girlfriends that are younger, and they just sat me down and they were like, your fashion is dated and it needs a little spruce up. So we did a closet clean out.
Taylor
Yes.
Tay
And then somebody was like, go on the Abercrombie website.
Taylor
Yeah.
Tay
And just take a look at that.
Taylor
Rest is history.
Tay
I've never. Yeah, yeah.
Taylor
I remember the first time you came downstairs in this cute outfit and I was like, wait, what? And you're like, it's Abercrombie. And you did this whole order.
Tay
Yep.
Taylor
And you've done lots of orders.
Tay
Well, yeah, it's great, but it's dangerous because they do. They come out with new things every day, every week.
Taylor
Yeah.
Tay
Every Thursday they drop all these new things.
Taylor
Is that factual?
Tay
Yeah.
Taylor
Whoa.
Tay
So that's why, like, every two to three weeks, I'm going on their website.
Taylor
That's why you have to do another closet clean out now.
Tay
Yeah, I need to do another closet clean out because I'm ordering too much Abercrombie.
Taylor
I mean, good. Problem?
Tay
I. Yeah, I don't.
Taylor
I guess. You look great.
Tay
Yeah.
Taylor
You're stylish. Yeah, it's. It's nice being back here. We haven't been to New Orleans in a minute.
Tay
Yeah, the last time we've spent a lot of time in New Orleans. Last time we were here, I was actually filming Home Team.
Taylor
Yes.
Tay
Which is a movie on Netflix, if you want to check it out. But, yeah, that was the last time we were here. And that was a few years ago.
Taylor
Yeah, that was when I got Covid really bad. And, yeah, nightmare. That was not fun. So this is like redemption. Redemption time for New Orleans for me. But, I mean, you used to come. When. When did you first start, like, coming out here and going to games?
Tay
I guess when I was filming the Breaking dawn movies. You may or may not know this, but we filmed all the interior shots for both the Breaking Dawns in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, which is only about an hour outside the city here. So while I was filming, we were there for, like, five months, I want to say. My agent got a call from Sean Payton, who was the longtime head coach of the Saints, the New Orleans Saints. And he invited me to a game, and I showed up. It's the craziest story, but, like, I'm like. I'm thinking. I just like. He gave me tickets to the game, but our car, we're like, keep getting closer and closer to the stadium, and before we know it, we're pulling underground, like, into the stadium. Stadium where the players go. Our car pulls up and they're waiting for us. Is Sean Payton, the head coach of the Saints?
Taylor
So crazy.
Tay
And he's like, welcome, Taylor. She's like, welcome to my house. I'm like, hi. And I'm like, what do you. This is like 90 minutes before game time. I'm thinking, don't you have better things to be doing right now? But no, he took the time to come get me. He's like, you want a tour of the place? I'm like, sure. So he gives me a full tour of the stadium, the locker room, the field. And then at one point, I remember, he's like, hey, I gotta go. I gotta give. Give my, like, pre game speech. You want to, like, come in with us? And I'm like, sure. So I'm in the locker room with him as he's giving the speech, and then it's game time. And he's like, all right, game's starting. You're coming out with us. And I run out of the tunnel with them for the game. He gives me my own headphones to listen to him calling plays for the game. And I watch the whole game on the sideline with the players. But anyways, long story. Short. I become good friends with Sean Payton, and I start going back to more and more games. So I become a Saints fan because of Sean. So over the years, I have been here a lot, just watching Saints games, supporting Sean. He no longer is with the team. He's with the Broncos now. So I'm like, lions are my number one. But.
Taylor
Yeah.
Tay
Does this make the Broncos my number two? I don't know.
Taylor
Lol. That's. I actually. I forgot that when we came. The first Saints game we went to together was my first football game.
Tay
First NFL game you were ever at.
Taylor
Yep. Wow. Yeah.
Tay
Dang.
Taylor
In the Superdome. That was, like, crazy.
Aiden Hutchinson
Geez.
Taylor
It was fun.
Tay
Yeah.
Taylor
I enjoyed it.
Tay
Yeah. So a lot of experience here in New Orleans. We're stoked to be here for the super bowl with Abercrombie, but at the same time, it's kind of bittersweet.
Taylor
It does hurt a little. I will say it hurts less than last year because we had a week to recover. I feel like. Because last time we lost in the NFC Championship, and then it was, like, right into super bowl, like, I feel like. Because we lost in the divisional round. I had time. I had. Yeah. I didn't watch the NFC and AFC championship games because I was like, I can't. I just can't do it.
Tay
We did. We. We were hoping that our Lions would be here in the Super Bowl. Yeah, it was looking good. We had that ripped away from us.
Taylor
Yeah. But there's always next year.
Tay
There's always next year. And speaking of Lions, we may or may not have a special surprise guest coming up in a little bit in this episode, so stay tuned.
Taylor
I guess you'll have to stick around. There has been a segment that you guys have been dying for us to bring back, and it is Tea time with Tay. We bring back. I mean, just because we let it go. Well, no, we didn't let it go. We just haven't done that many solo episodes. We certainly do it with solo episodes. Yeah. We get so many messages.
Tay
We should start doing it and incorporating it into segments with guests.
Taylor
What a thought.
Tay
Yeah. We can do tea time with Tay with guests.
Taylor
Will we have to change the name if it's with a guest?
Tay
Tea time with Tay's.
Taylor
And Tay and guest.
Tay
Oh, God.
Taylor
But no, we decided what better way to kind of kick off this fun weekend we're having with some tea time with Tay questions? Because you guys asked for it, and we are here to.
Tay
And they submitted some good ones, and.
Taylor
There are some good ones. So I'm gonna Just pull some of these up on my phone and read them. Because you sent them on the phone and now they're on my phone.
Tay
Tea time with Te.
Taylor
Okay, let's start with. Ooh, this one's a good one. Would you guys ever move to Michigan full time? That would be a big change of weather for me.
Tay
Big change of weather. Yeah. Tay is a California girl. Has never.
Taylor
Now I'm not opposed to it full time. I don't know. I can't say. I wouldn't.
Tay
I don't. I don't know. The question was full time. I don't know if I could say full time. Yeah. I don't know. Maybe whenever we go to games.
Taylor
I know.
Tay
And we're in Detroit, we leave every time. Being like, we need to get a place here.
Taylor
Yeah.
Tay
We just love it.
Taylor
Yeah.
Tay
So I don't. I don't know. I. At the moment, I can't see it being a full time thing, but definitely part time.
Taylor
Yeah. Never say never. So it's such a beautiful state.
Tay
Never say never.
Taylor
I was like, what are you mumbling? And then I figured out what you were saying. Okay, next question is, how do you get yourself motivated when you're not feeling. Feeling motivated? This is, I feel like something I've been struggling with because January was such a long month. I've been saying it was part of 2024. Like, I'm leaving that last year. That was not a part of this year.
Tay
February.
Taylor
Yeah, February was starting. Yeah. And I feel like I've been struggling with that. Like, just like trying to find that motivation and what I've been doing. Cause obviously, you know, I work from home, and it's very easy to just wake up and stay in my pajamas all day, you know, not do like a skincare routine or just like, not brush my teeth. Just literally, like, stay in what I woke up in. And so I've been trying to make it a point to somewhat get ready. Not a full glam, but, like, I'll put jeans on or I'll put a little mascara on or just something to kind of just change my mindset. And I feel like it kind of like gives me like a fresh little start to the day.
Tay
Yeah.
Taylor
And that. That's definitely helped me quite a bit.
Tay
Yeah, that's. Yeah, I'm the same. I need to, like. Yeah, I could live in sweats, but yeah, whenever I. It helps, like putting a cute outfit on. And also, I mean, for me, I think if I'm feeling, like, lazy like that I force myself to get out of the house. Even if I don't have somewhere that I need to go or something I.
Taylor
Need to do, that's actually a good one.
Tay
I'm gonna. I'm gonna go, you know, do whatever just to get me out of the house and get my mind going. Like, okay, let's be productive today.
Taylor
Yeah, no, that's good. Just getting yourself, like a fresh.
Tay
You can blink and it's like noon, and you're like, oh, I've been sitting in my sweats watching NFL Network all morning.
Taylor
Yeah. Yeah, that's good. You do that. You do that.
Tay
Well.
Taylor
Okay. Question for you, Lemon Drops. Do you struggle with headaches, cramps, fatigue, brain fog, or weakness at all? Well, you might actually be dealing with an electrolyte deficiency or imbalance. And that's where Element comes in. Element helps anyone stay hydrated without sugar or other dodgy ingredients found in popular electrolyte and sports drinks. Element is a zero sugar electrolyte drink mix and sparkling electrolyte water. Born from the growing body of research revealing that optimal health outcomes occur at sodium levels two to three times greater than government recommendations, each sick pack delivers a meaningful dose of electrolytes free of sugar, artificial colors, or other dodgy ingredients. Element is formulated for anyone on a mission to restore health through hydration and is perfectly suited for athletes, folks who are fasting, or those following keto, low carb, whole food, or paleo diets. I'm one of those girlies that, you know, forgets to drink water all day. And then I'm like, oh, I have a headache. Oh, I'm feeling weak. I'm having brain fog. What's going on? And it's because I'm not getting the electrolytes that I need. And so that's where Element comes in. It's so easy to just pour a packet into your water bottle, no, into your water jug, however you get your water. And I love that the company has such a wide range of of people that actually use their products, from Olympic athletes, professional athletes, Navy seals, to just the everyday Joe. You know, the moms that are out running their errands, exercise enthusiasts. It's just everyone in between needs good electrolyte hydration. And right now, Element is offering free sample pack with any purchase. That's eight single serving packets, free with any Element order. This is a great way to try all eight flavors or share Element with a friend. We are still very much in winter and with those shorter days and lack of sun, it definitely means we need some extra help getting enough vitamin D into our diet. And did you know that 97% of women ages 19 to 50 are not getting enough vitamin D from their diet alone? That's where Rituals essential for women 18 and older comes in to play. It was shown to increase vitamin D levels by 43% in a clinical study, which is huge. You guys know how I do not like taking pills. But this pill is one that I will gladly take. One because there is nine key nutrients and two delayed capsules per day that truly optimize your body's absorption. But it's also gentle on the stomach because each pill has a minty essence to it. So it honestly makes me forget that I'm even taking a pill, which is something that I love. Rituals Essential for Women is USP Verified so you know that you can trust what you're putting into your body. And only about 1% of supplement brands on the market have the USB verified mark which shows the product contains the ingredients actually listed on the label. I don't know if that is something you guys want to know, but I know for me, I'm focusing on self care. When I'm putting a supplement into my body, I want to know that the ingredients that are on the label are what are going into my body. So no more shady business. Rituals essential for women 18 and older is a multivitamin you can actually trust. Get 25% off your first month for a limited time at ritual.com the squeeze start ritual or add essential for women 18 and older to your subscription today. That's ritual.com/the squeeze for 25% off today. Okay. Lemon drops. You know that one of my big goals for this year is really prioritizing self care. Not only what I'm doing on the outside every day, but also what I'm putting into my body. What food I'm putting in, what supplements, what vitamins, what is going into my body. And that's why I rely on Symbiotica's products because they are a company that I fully trust. They have such good quality products, products. They're free of seed oils, preservatives, toxins, artificial additives which are usually found in supplements. And you know that you're really getting good stuff. Symbiotica is one of those companies for me that I can just fully trust whatever they are making. I know that they've done the research. I know that they are on A mission to give people the best quality ingredients to put into their bodies. And having a company like that that I love and trust, and not only that, they make really great products. My favorite is the liposomal vitamin C packs. They're like this vanilla citrus flavor, which when I first heard this was a liquid, I was like, this isn't going to taste good. But this vanilla citrus flavor is truly so good. And it helps improve my skin, helps improve my immune health. And because they're in the little packets, it makes it so easy to bring it with you when you're on the go and traveling. High quality holistic wellness right at your fingertips. Be present and feel your best with life's most memorable moments. Next question is, who's the planner and who just goes with the flow?
Tay
I am the planner.
Taylor
Excuse me. I think we're both planners.
Tay
You do what? I think it's like, what are we talking about? Yeah, if we're like going on a trip, I'm the planner.
Taylor
Yeah, you are the planner.
Tay
And you are so good with the flow.
Taylor
Yeah.
Tay
If we're going on vacation or a trip of any sort.
Taylor
Yeah. I think more day to day life, like calendar scheduling and stuff like that. That would be me. And you're kind of like, just tell me where I need to be one. And then when we're on a trip or something, you. Wow, that is actually very true. You plan the trip and I'm just, okay, I'll, like, show up wherever, like you. I'll give an. An opinion on, like, where I want to go, and then I'm just kind of like, whatever, it's vacation.
Tay
No, you're. You plan everyday life and like, you're calendar girl.
Taylor
Yeah.
Tay
And everyday life. I am not calendar boy. But yeah, if it comes to. If it comes to a trip, I'm.
Taylor
Like your itinerary man.
Tay
I'm doing the flights, I'm doing the reservations. I'm, you know, just like, yeah, all.
Taylor
The restaurants, the hotel. You're looking everything up on Yelp. Yeah. Yeah. You're really good at that.
Tay
That's weird.
Taylor
Can you please have Boston Rob on the podcast? That is a Boston Rob. That's a very good guest idea.
Tay
I would definitely have Boston Rob on the podcast because we have been obsessed with traders.
Taylor
Yeah.
Tay
I mean, watching.
Taylor
We just discovered the show. It's been around for Quite some time.
Tay
But late to it.
Taylor
Yeah, we're late to it, but we're missing out. It's our favorite game. You guys know how much we love game nights. And it's literally mafia. And I. Yeah, it's the fact that it only comes out once a week is really frustrating.
Tay
I know.
Taylor
We've gone on to the other seasons and the other.
Tay
We've worked back countries watching old, old seasons and old in other countries.
Taylor
Australia, uk. We're really. We're really making our rounds there. But Boston Rob, who knows? Maybe he'll come on. Have you started Lord of the Rings? We have. If you don't know what we're talking about, go to our last solo episode, and it's a new date night idea that I originally came up with all on my own. No, we've been watching movie franchises, and that's the date. Very original. But we did start Lord of the Rings. We're two in.
Tay
How you feeling?
Taylor
Okay. I like them.
Tay
I've seen them. Just so you know, I've seen them. Yes.
Taylor
Sorry.
Tay
Tay has never seen them.
Taylor
Yes, I like them. My only thing that I wish I knew before going in because I feel like I wasn't expecting it was that. Okay, let me see if this makes sense. Harry Potter. It's like each one has a beginning and the end. Like the movies, like, they're each its own thing, but when the first movie ends, they're literally about to go on their next quest, which then leads into the second movie, which then leads into, like, it's just one long story.
Tay
Yeah.
Taylor
And so I'm wanting some form of closure. Some, like, whoop de do. Happy moment.
Tay
Whoop dee doo.
Taylor
Yeah. Whoopty more happy than whoop dee dee. But the movie ends and I'm like, wait, what? Yeah, like, it ended and I was confused. I was enjoying it, but I was confused when the first one ended.
Tay
Yeah. I kind of forgot that, to be honest, because when you pointed that out to me, I was like. Yeah, I mean, it makes sense.
Taylor
Like, it's cute. It, like, it ends on them, like walking into some forest thing. It's like a pretty, like, wide shot that goes up and you can see everything.
Tay
Feels like it ended in the middle of the movie.
Taylor
Yeah. Like the middle of the three hour movie.
Tay
Yeah, I know. No, it's like the three movies is like nine and a half hours.
Taylor
Yeah.
Tay
Of footage, but it's one story.
Taylor
Yeah.
Tay
And it's just. They just kind of have it broken in the middle, but. Yeah. No, I get that. I get that. But they're good.
Taylor
Yeah, no, I enjoy them. Everyone calm down.
Tay
Everyone called them.
Taylor
I'm thoroughly enjoying them. I've gotten a lot of DMs of people asking if we've started it from the last one.
Tay
So we're on to number three.
Taylor
Yes. Now that I know how the movies end, like, I was able to enjoy the second one because I knew how it was going to end.
Tay
And then after we do number three, we'll move on to the Hobbits, right? I haven't seen the Hobbits.
Taylor
Yeah. Yeah. But we may have to flip a coin because I really want to watch Star Wars.
Tay
Well, you have to finish.
Taylor
Well, they are all its own thing. Or is it a little spinoff?
Tay
I.
Taylor
It's a.
Tay
It's a spin off. It's like a prequel or something.
Taylor
Okay, fine.
Tay
Or the other.
Taylor
But I'll give it to you.
Tay
It's the same world.
Taylor
Yeah. Next question is worst and best things thing about dogs. I don't. I have to be honest. When I first read this, I was like, there's literally no bad things about dogs. What are you saying? But I can. But there definitely is a couple. And I think it's. We recently had to give Lily Zofran because our sweet, sweet, nervous little girl, she throws up.
Tay
This would be Lily.
Taylor
We're talking about Lily, our dog. She likes. She doesn't like to throw up. She throws up every so often just because she's nervous. Gets a little upset tummy. And it does tend to ruin carpets.
Tay
She has ruined so many rugs.
Taylor
Yeah.
Tay
We can't even count.
Taylor
But we love her, so we will continue to buy rugs. But after thinking about that question a little more deeply, I was like, okay, actually, that is a little bit of an annoyance, but they're your babies.
Tay
We woke up the other morning and Lily was doing her, like, mouth thing that she does and just pacing everywhere. It's what she does when she needs to throw up. And I put on my close friend story. I was like, does anybody know if I can get my dog Zofran? And then I was like, what am I doing? I should just be calling the vet.
Taylor
Lol.
Tay
Then I called the vet and was like, can I give my dog Zofran? And they were like, you can. There's probably other things that would work better for dogs, but, yeah, you can. And then they, like, told me the dosage, and I did. I gave her two Zofran pills, and.
Taylor
She was good to go.
Tay
She was fine.
Taylor
Yeah.
Tay
So, yeah, Zofran.
Taylor
Zofran. Who knew?
Tay
Magical little drug there.
Taylor
Such a universal little tool there. Okay, next question is how to make long distance relationships work and keep it going strong and healthy. Um, well, we started our relationship off long distance. For those of you that are new here. Um, we did a couple months long distance. We speed dated for a couple weeks, and then Taylor went to go film. Um, and honestly, that's time that I'm very thankful for. Looking back that we did get to do long distance. I think we were really intentional about setting aside time where we weren't, like, doing stuff and just sitting talking on the phone. Like, we were like FaceTiming, not while, you know, we were cleaning or doing stuff. Like, we were very intentional about sitting and just like, talking to each other.
Tay
Yeah.
Taylor
So that would be my advice, is make sure to still have that, like, intentional time together.
Tay
Yeah, I know long distances, it's tough. It was good for us because it was at the beginning and I think.
Taylor
We didn't know any better.
Tay
Allowed us to get to know each other, like, really well, really quick. But if you were to ask me now to do long distance with you, that would be terrible.
Taylor
Yeah.
Tay
Yeah, I know you could do it, but it would not be enjoyable.
Taylor
It would not be as. Yeah, as enjoyable. Okay, thoughts on strange.
Tay
I'm getting word that our guest is approaching, so we probably have time for a couple more.
Taylor
Okay. Okay. Last couple thoughts on Stranger Things. Season five coming soon. Ooh, thank God. Honestly, I. We. We were just talking about re watching those seasons because it's been years. Like.
Tay
Yeah, when did the last one come out?
Taylor
I don't even know if I feels like a lifetime ago.
Tay
It's always like these two and a half year gaps in between seasons.
Taylor
I'm over it.
Tay
I know I'm gonna be 50 before the next one.
Taylor
Truly.
Tay
Well, was that. What was that?
Taylor
Well, well, there is no more. So you won't be that with my wealth.
Tay
Yeah. No. When is it coming out? This fall.
Taylor
Sometime this year. Sometime this year. Not soon enough.
Tay
Okay, well, we're very excited, but we're very over the weight.
Taylor
Yes, we are very over it. Okay, a couple more is. What is your go to coffee order?
Tay
Go to coffee order. I'm pretty simple. I'm a iced vanilla latte with oat milk.
Taylor
I do that also. Unless there's like a lavender or there's a matcha. I do sometimes do that. Okay, last question. We can go get our guest. What has been the most unexpected thing this podcast has brought you?
Tay
Most unexpected thing this podcast has brought us.
Taylor
I think Friends.
Tay
I was. Yeah. Yeah.
Taylor
Friendship. The amount of friends that we have made, like, through this podcast has been honestly something I didn't even think about.
Tay
Like, when we started, we would have guests on.
Taylor
Yeah.
Tay
And they would become genuine friends of ours that are coming over to our house for dinners and parties and. Or going to theirs. Like, never saw that coming.
Taylor
Yeah.
Tay
We've made so many friends.
Taylor
Yeah. And like genuine, like people who just like have a love for life. It's been really cool to make friends.
Tay
Yeah.
Taylor
Like that.
Tay
I don't know how we've been able to do it, but we've just been so blessed and lucky with the humans that we've had on our podcast.
Taylor
Yeah.
Tay
Like, I don't feel like we've had a, like a bad bone.
Taylor
Yeah.
Tay
Like, everybody has been so kind and just wonderful humans. So I know we've definitely stolen some of our guests into our friendship.
Taylor
Yeah, we definitely have. So you guys know, heading in to this new year, I really wanted to focus on my self care. Not just meaning my physical external body, but also my internal body. And the food, the supplements, the vitamins, the things that I'm putting into my body are actually good for me and will help my body achieve and grow to the best that I can. And when I tell you Hero's bread, I don't know what they do, but it is magical. It doesn't taste like I'm eating quote unquote healthy bread. The other morning I just made some bagels with a little bit of butter and I put some avocado on them and egg and it was so good. Another one that I love is their dinner rolls. They're like Hawaiian rolls. They are so yummy and fluffy and I'm just obsessed with how many products they have and how good they taste and how great the texture is. You never know that it's a low net carb and high fiber bread from the texture you truly wouldn't HeroBred is offering 10% off your order. You can go to Hero Co and use code Squeeze at checkout. Tay
Speaking of friends, we didn't meet this one through the podcast, but they have been on the podcast before.
Taylor
Ooh.
Tay
And they are about ready to revisit us.
Taylor
Any guesses?
Tay
Drumroll.
Taylor
You want to go grab them?
Tay
I'll go grab them. Aiden Hutchinson, welcome back to the Squeeze.
Aiden Hutchinson
Let's go, let's go.
Tay
This is so long.
Aiden Hutchinson
Yeah, not too long. But hey, I mean, look at us.
Tay
Didn't see this coming.
Aiden Hutchinson
I know.
Tay
Last time we talked to you, you did make us a promise and that was you would be at the Super Bowl. Not sure this is what you had in mind, but you are a man of your word.
Aiden Hutchinson
Yeah. You know, I think the universe works in mysterious ways, you know, and if that meant that I wasn't playing in it, that I was going to be here with you guys, you know, that's also fun. Would I have liked to play in this game a little bit? You know? Yeah, I think so. And I think you agree, both of you.
Tay
Certainly.
Taylor
Yeah.
Tay
Yeah. We were saying that the last time we saw you was the highest of highs. It was after the Week 18 Vikings game clinch, the 1 seed. Just like honestly the happiest maybe I've ever been in my life. And then the last time we saw your family was two weeks after that. That was not a fun night for sure.
Aiden Hutchinson
That wasn't a high. I don't think, you know, that was rough.
Taylor
Yeah, well, we'll get into that. But I think first of all, since the last time we talked, where are you at recovery wise?
Aiden Hutchinson
Yeah, I'm, I'm pretty much. I'll be cleared in a couple weeks now. You know, I'm pretty much, I'm just about at that point, you know, or everything's looking good, but just a couple, couple, couple more weeks just to kind of finalize everything I'd say. But yeah, no, it's. It's great.
Tay
I know last time it seemed like most of what you talked about. When was that? I mean, a couple six weeks ago. It was six weeks out of your injury, right?
Taylor
Yeah. Yeah.
Tay
And you were talking that pain management was, like, the biggest thing. Yeah. Is how. Where's the pain level at compared to.
Aiden Hutchinson
It's pretty good. You know, it's. It's. Compared to where I was. It is considerably lower. I mean, it's. It's pretty much fully healed now, so it's. It feels good. But. Yeah. I mean, back then, it was. That was. That was like an everyday struggle.
Tay
Yeah.
Aiden Hutchinson
Of ibuprofen before rehab and just getting through it and, like, taking the edge off a little bit. But it was. It was tough and. But I'm at a point now where I think all that is really behind me and just kind of getting some of these final touches in the. In the rehab.
Taylor
Yeah. We were talking about how we got to be with you and watch. Was it week 17? Is that when we were there?
Tay
No. Or with him in the suite?
Taylor
Yeah.
Tay
No, that was for the packers game. I don't know what week that was.
Taylor
Never week. That was when we were there and did the taping, that we were with you in the box, along with some of the other injured players. And how Taylor just really got to live out his dream of watching.
Tay
That was my actual heaven right there.
Taylor
I did. We were joking around and. Not joking. We were talking. But I don't think I talked to Taylor that entire game. Like, he was just, like, up with y' all, like, asking all the questions, like, what's going on? What's this? What does this mean? Why aren't they doing this?
Aiden Hutchinson
It was fun. And even some of my buddies were like, hey, can I get a picture with Jacob? Like, you know, And I was like, I mean, sure. He's like, yeah, Team Jacob.
Taylor
You know, he's gonna start blushing.
Tay
Oh, my God. I am blushing.
Aiden Hutchinson
No, they were. They were all. They were funny. They were all into it, though. It was. That was it. That was a fun, like, game, though, you know, with everybody in the suite, like, you guys teammates bumping in there. It was a good time.
Tay
Yeah.
Taylor
My favorite was. Yeah. It was stressful at some point in the game, and Taylor was. We posted online, he was standing up on a chair.
Tay
Found my way into that table.
Aiden Hutchinson
Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Taylor
And you were, like, hiding, like, trying to watch it. And Anzalone, he hugs you. And, like, as he's leaving, and he's like, you gotta learn to care less.
Aiden Hutchinson
I know.
Tay
That was his final words to me, like, you gotta learn to care less. And that's when I realized I have a problem if one of the actual players on the team, a star player, is telling me I Need to care less about the Lions. I have an issue.
Aiden Hutchinson
No, he literally. He told me that after. After the game's like, man, like, Taylor was like. Like, he was. I don't know how he does this every week. You know?
Tay
I. I don't know.
Aiden Hutchinson
Like. Like, you put yourself through these anxiety attacks induced by Dan going forward on fourth down, you know? No, it's. It was funny, man. But, hey, you're.
Taylor
You're.
Aiden Hutchinson
You're a dedicated fan, A loyal, dedicated fan, and maybe too much sometimes, but, hey, that's. At least you care, you know?
Taylor
Yeah. It shows that you care. I use that now. I'm like, remember what Alex said? Remember what he said.
Aiden Hutchinson
Thank you, Alex.
Tay
When I'm bashing the TV with a baseball bat, you're like, remember what Alex said?
Aiden Hutchinson
I don't care all the time.
Tay
I could care less.
Taylor
Could care less. Oh, go.
Tay
I'm just curious for you. How did it feel watching the games from the suite? Because I bet you never had that, like, on your bucket list.
Aiden Hutchinson
Yeah, no, it was. It's definitely not ideal, but I think it offered a different perspective. I got to be. I got to be there with my family. I did Thanksgiving with my family, which was fun, which I never get to do. I got to see the game from kind of a bigger view. It slowed things down a little bit, but I feel like I didn't learn that much, though. Like, I feel like people ask me, like, if you learn anything. I was like, no, I learned that I want to be out.
Tay
I learned that I want to be on the field.
Taylor
Yeah. What was it like going back? Was Week 18 your first.
Aiden Hutchinson
That was the first time being on the field. Yeah.
Taylor
What was that?
Aiden Hutchinson
It was fun, but it was. It was almost more difficult, you know, because it was like, you're so close, and, like. Yeah, I got. I got the play calls in my ear, and so, like, you can. You know what's going on. You're in it. Like, mentally, I'm like, I'm all the way there, but physically, you're not. So it's. It was like. It's a little bit frustrating, but it was. It was. It was a good experience being down there and trying to, you know, do anything I could to help out.
Taylor
Yeah.
Aiden Hutchinson
With the DLAM specialist.
Tay
That's really interesting. I wouldn't have thought it that way, but it makes total sense that, like, being up in the suite, it, like, allows this separation of, like.
Aiden Hutchinson
It does.
Tay
You're in this mindset of, I'm healing, you know? But then when you're like, right there, and you're like. You can taste.
Aiden Hutchinson
Yes. Yes.
Tay
That's so interesting.
Aiden Hutchinson
Yeah. Yeah. It's something that I hope will be the last time, you know, I can only pray. So.
Taylor
It was. I feel like if there's a positive of it, it was so fun. As a fan, when they would, like, show you on the screen, like, the whole place just got amped.
Aiden Hutchinson
I know.
Tay
First time on the jumbotron.
Aiden Hutchinson
Yeah, for sure. I mean, that's setting up the comeback for next year now. And I know that first time running out of that tunnel, and if the defense gets intros, it's going to be like, I look forward to that moment of being there and soaking. Like, I just. You feed off the crowd and when they're all into it and they're, you know, know, it's. It's gonna be fun. It's gonna be fun.
Taylor
Yeah. We obviously have to talk about it, sadly.
Aiden Hutchinson
Oh, gosh.
Taylor
We have to talk about trauma.
Aiden Hutchinson
Trauma.
Taylor
I don't. It. I'm still, like, kind of confused by it, to be honest. Well, just like that. That, like, it just, like, it didn't.
Tay
Feel like it was real.
Taylor
Yeah. I just, like, felt like I got punched in the face and I was like, wait, what happened?
Tay
We're driving and I'm always.
Taylor
He's panicked over every game. Shocker.
Tay
Yeah. Yeah. Like, we could be. No offense, anybody. We could be playing the Panthers and I would be like, a nerd.
Aiden Hutchinson
Right. Right.
Tay
Didn't have to say, sorry, Panthers fans, future is bright.
Aiden Hutchinson
We love you.
Tay
But no, we could be playing whoever, and I would be nervous. So I wasn't overlooking that week, but everybody. I was talking to our driver on the way to the game. He's like, what are you nervous about? He's like, this is a bye week. That's a bye week. I'm like, don't say that. But I know it should be.
Aiden Hutchinson
Yeah.
Tay
And so I. Can you. What do you think? I know this is a tough question, but what do you think happened? Do you think it was a case of overlooking a team? Was it just not showing up on the day? Like.
Aiden Hutchinson
Yeah, I think it's. It's a combination of a couple of things. I think, you know, a big part is the injuries on defense and that, you know, that is going to cause our offense to be in some shootouts, you know, and so. And if our offense isn't perfect in. In those shootouts, if, you know, if there's a weird play here, we play there. We. They turn the ball over. It puts a lot of pressure on them puts a lot of pressure on us. And I think that day, you know what? On the first play, Amiek Robertson, who was, like, stepping up in the biggest way when everybody was getting hurt, he, like, became a dude on defense. He broke his arm on the very first play. And to me, that was like, just an omen of, like, dude. Like, this is almost inescapable this year. Like, these. The. The inevitability with all the injuries and with. Especially only with the defense. And when he got hurt, it was like, that is when you kind of saw things start to unravel a little bit. And there was guys out there that have never played in an NFL game. And then you're playing in the divisional round, you know, against a good offense, and it's. It was tough. It was tough. So I think when that injury happened, it kind of fell apart. But I just think as a team, as an offense, they had some turnovers and a defense. We weren't playing good defense. And so it was just. We weren't playing good, complimentary football. And that's the thing about the playoffs is you have one off day and it's. It's all over, you know, and that's why the playoffs are so fun to watch, because it's like, everything's on the line for this one game. And so every decision that you make is critical, you know, so it's. It's one. I think everybody who's playing wants that back. You know, they want that game back. But it's. It's just me. I wasn't playing necessarily, so I feel like I wasn't a part of it, like I usually am. And so me, when we lost that game, my mindset is going to 20, 25 and going to next season. And so, yeah, I'm all in on next season, you know.
Taylor
Yeah. I mean, obviously, I don't. I don't know the ins and outs fully of football, but you can't help but, like, wonder. Be annoyed as a fan, which I feel like the Internet would also kind of agree with me. But the fact that, like, coaches can be doing interviews during the playoffs is wild to me. Like, and of course I leave and I'm like, well, like, you know, it makes me just, like, question things. I'm not saying any coach, like, coaches throw games or anything like that, but it's, you know, like, it's a playoffs. Like, you should be 100% focused.
Aiden Hutchinson
Yeah, absolutely.
Taylor
On that. And then, like, the next week, everyone's.
Tay
Gone and you're like, it does Feel a bit like you got cheated on?
Aiden Hutchinson
Yeah, it does.
Tay
It's just the way it is. It's a business. Like, you got. You understand that these guys, you know, they have to do what's best for them and their families, and they could.
Taylor
Just wait a couple weeks. Like, the NFL could just, like, wait a little bit.
Aiden Hutchinson
I know that's. That's the business side of things that make that, like, put a bad taste in your mouth about the NFL. It just reminds you that it's. This is. We're not just playing football, you know, we're not just. And it could feel that way when you're winning, you're having fun, and everyone's high five in and it's all good vibes, and then, boom, the second you're done, it's like, you're gone, you're gone, you're gone. Like, they're probably. They're talking to teams during the playoffs, but that's how every, every team operates. It's like you got. You start setting up, you know, your next opportunity, whatever it is, and it's kind of. It kind of. It takes the. A little bit of the camaraderie out of it between coaches and players, but it's just. It's just a reality of the business.
Taylor
Yeah.
Tay
Did you see that amount of staff leaving? Did you think that meant, like, we knew. We knew Ben was gone. We knew Aaron was gone.
Aiden Hutchinson
Right.
Tay
You lost a lot. I guess you lost a lot of coaching staff.
Aiden Hutchinson
Yeah. No, I think whenever you have a lot of success in the NFL and you get a one seed, it's like you're going to lose a lot of dudes. And it just so happens that the timing worked out, that both of our coordinated, both of our coordinators were at that point of. In their careers where it was like they were at that tipping point of becoming a head coach and stuff, and they bring their own coaches with them. So it's like kind of clear out. But I tell this to everyone. It's like, I don't. I don't care who they bring in to coach us. Obviously, keeping Dan there is what we all want. But coordinators, position coaches, it doesn't matter. It's. It's. As long as we have the right guys in the locker room and those foundation guys on offense, on defense, you can roll anyone in there to call the plays. And at the end of the day, it's the. It's going to be the. The playmakers who are. Who are making those plays on Sundays, you know, so that's as long as we keep our core group, you know, keep everyone there, we're going to. We're going to stay in this window of winning and. And we're all pretty young, too, so. Yeah, hopefully that's for a while.
Taylor
Yeah. What's the mentality of the team, you think, heading into this next season?
Aiden Hutchinson
Yeah, it's. I think some guys are still a little bit stung by the whole thing, you know, and so it's hard. It's hard mentally, when you perform so well in the regular season, you win 15 games, all to just get booted like that in the playoffs. And I think, mentally, the season is so taxing on your body, on your mind. And so I know once we all get back there for OTAs and camp, it's like, you then, you know, the next year is always. 31 other teams always look forward to the next year, you know.
Tay
Yeah.
Aiden Hutchinson
So it's. We're all going to dial back in and get that focus back and what we want to do. And we got the guy. We know. We got the guys now, and we've kind of established this winning culture in Detroit, and I don't think that's changed anytime soon, so.
Taylor
Love to hear it.
Aiden Hutchinson
Yeah.
Tay
So you feel. You feel pretty dang confident that you're gonna. I mean, come that OTA's time, you're gonna feel fresh and ready to go?
Aiden Hutchinson
Yeah, absolutely. Absolutely. Yeah, it's gonna be.
Tay
I just need to hear it, like, five times just to get me pumped, you know?
Aiden Hutchinson
I cannot wait to play football again, dude. Like, I cannot wait because I. My last game was in October, you know, so. Yeah, just the second that I can get back out there. But even practice, like, practice is all right, but once I can step back. Back in there for week one, whenever that is, like that. That is what I look forward to practice is. Is our. It's fun. I mean, it's all right, but it's like, you know, it. I like it when it matters in game, you know, that's when. That's when you can really go and show out and show the world, you know, what kind of player you are.
Tay
Yeah. I did want to ask one thing that's going back just a little bit, but when we were there for the. For the divisional game, we were watching you have a conversation with Mr. Brady on the field, and I was like, Mr. Tom, I was, like, geeking out for you.
Taylor
He literally was like, babe, babe, look, everybody stop.
Tay
Eden's talking to Tom right now. And, like, we busted out the binoculars and we're Handing it from person to person so all of us could watch you talking to Tom.
Aiden Hutchinson
Yeah.
Tay
Was that the first time you'd met him? What was the conversation?
Aiden Hutchinson
Yeah. That's good. That's a good question. No, it's. That was my first time ever meeting him.
Tay
Wow.
Aiden Hutchinson
I. I can't believe I. I hadn't met him earlier. Yeah. I feel like we've, like, been close to meeting each other, but haven't. But I saw him on the field. We were talking. He's talking about my rehab a little bit, and. And then I was just. I'm kind of interested in getting it. Getting into, like. I wouldn't say the commentator space, but more of like an analyst space or like, you know, a tv something. Something in football, when it comes to, you know, kind of analyzing football and talking football, because it's what I like.
Taylor
Yeah.
Aiden Hutchinson
And I was kind of just picking his brain on all the stuff with commentating and stuff and how's. How that's been for him. And he said it's so funny because going into commentating, like, you think you're going to be on the broadcast, like, spewing all this smart football stuff because he's so wise. But then he says, like, you need to go back to football one on one. So even when he says, like, oh, yeah, the running back goes in the A gap. Like, do you know. Do you know what the A gap is? Right. So, like, the typical football watcher wouldn't know what an A gap is. Yeah. And so he has to be like, oh, yeah, the running back ran between the. The center, those. Those two offensive linemen.
Taylor
Right.
Aiden Hutchinson
And so it's like he said, that's been one of the hardest things, is to kind of dial back, like, his wisdom in football and try to dumb it down to the absolute basics of someone who.
Taylor
That's so interesting.
Aiden Hutchinson
Doesn't even know football at all, you know, so it's. That was interesting, but it was good. He was a really good dude, and he had a lot of dudes coming up to him, so I'm happy that we got to chat for a little bit.
Tay
Yeah. That was cool.
Aiden Hutchinson
Yeah.
Taylor
So sweet. You want to ask him about.
Tay
Yeah, I gotta ask. I have a feeling you're not gonna answer, but any. Any free agents out there that you wouldn't mind seeing in Detroit next year? I did see a photo of you talking to Miles Garrett.
Aiden Hutchinson
That's right. That's right. Hey, I mean, Miles, if me and Miles were to pair up, that would be. That would be deadly.
Tay
I don't know if you know anything like it.
Taylor
I know.
Aiden Hutchinson
I was talking to him. We were just. We were at the honors, and I was. We were just talking about what could be, you know, and. And although it's probably unlikely, I think it would. I would be thrilled to play next to him if it were to happen. But, Yeah, I mean. I mean, our whole D line would be, like, just totally elevated, and we would. That'd be a scary defensive line, and. And we get along, too. I think I've seen him these last few years at different things. He texted me after I got hurt, which. I don't know. It was just a cool thing, like guys outside of your own team who. Who reach out to you. I think so. I think he's a good dude, and if he does, great. But I don't know. We'll see. We'll see. But that would be. That would be awesome.
Tay
That would be crazy.
Aiden Hutchinson
Yeah, I know.
Tay
I don't know how realistic it is, but that would be a.
Taylor
We can dream.
Aiden Hutchinson
Yeah.
Tay
I'm friends with an agent of his, or maybe she's a manager. She was there with him. And I texted her. I was like, oh, right.
Aiden Hutchinson
What's her name?
Tay
Coral.
Aiden Hutchinson
Coral. Yeah. I saw her, and she was talking to me about you at the honor. She was like, oh, yeah, I know Taylor and Taylor and stuff. And we were. I was like, oh, no.
Tay
But I texted her. I was like. Because I knew she was gonna be with Miles for the night. And I was like, you need to go hunt down Aiden and make sure they become best friends. Get them talking. We need that photo together. So it seems like she did her job.
Taylor
Yeah, he really orchestrated that one.
Tay
Yeah. Yeah. So if Lamp Scarrett does happen to go to the Lions, I'll take the credit.
Taylor
I love that.
Aiden Hutchinson
I like it. I like it.
Taylor
Proud of you. Okay, last question we have for you.
Tay
I'm curious because I feel like getting to know you, you have to have this, like, goal. You have to have something you're pushing towards. And last time we spoke, that goal was to play in the super bowl. And that's what got you mentally through those tough days of the injury and recovery. Now, a couple months later, what's that new goal? What's that new thing that is pushing you every day to recover and come back stronger?
Aiden Hutchinson
Honestly, that super bowl was a great motivator, I'll tell you that. That was. Even though we didn't make it, I think that that pushed me mentally to places that I may have not been able to go without. It So I am grateful for that dream, but once we lost in that divisional, it kind of turned into. I took my foot off the gas a little bit. Not too much with the rehab, but more of like, okay, body, you can just heal in due time whenever you want to. And that, to me, it's been good. So the last few weeks have just been. I've been still hitting it, but it's more of like, when my body's ready to be done with it and to be healed. It's. It's on. It's on. It's on its own time. And so I haven't clung on to any goals or anything, but I feel like I am now just striving to be done with rehab and be done with the whole process so I can move on with my life, you know? And that's kind of the biggest thing in my head is like, all right, like, the season's over. Rehab's gonna be done in a couple weeks. And then after that's over, I'm gonna have a regular off season. I'm gonna go get my normal training in, go play some golf, go have fun before the next season starts. And that's kind of what I'm motivated by because, you know, it's just. It's been a long. A long few months of rehab, and I want to be done with it. And so. Yeah, and I'm close, too. It's. It's really, really there. So that's. That's kind of the motivator right now.
Tay
Yeah. Yeah. No, I mean, the. The super bowl idea was.
Taylor
Was.
Tay
Was fun, but I. I selfishly am excited with this route for you.
Aiden Hutchinson
Absolutely.
Tay
You know. Yeah, you can do it at your own time. Yeah, we know you're gonna be good to go. And 20, 25, you're going to be the defensive player of the year, so.
Aiden Hutchinson
Let'S put that into writing. I love that.
Taylor
Player and defensive player.
Aiden Hutchinson
We were talking about that.
Taylor
I called it out. I called it out.
Tay
We were watching the honors come back. Players. Next year, Aiden's going to be comeback and defensive player. I wonder if that's ever been done.
Taylor
I know.
Aiden Hutchinson
I don't know. Yeah, maybe. Who knows? That'd be cool, leaving with two trophies. I mean, that's. That's not bad, huh?
Tay
Yeah, I like it. That's what we'll cling on to.
Aiden Hutchinson
I love it. I love it.
Tay
Thanks. Thanks for chatting with us. I'm sure we'll, you know, talk again another three weeks or something.
Aiden Hutchinson
