It's an old port that was decommissioned decades ago. Once upon a time, this place probably saw its fair share of action. But these days, yeah, not so much.

I came here looking for answers. For closure. But perhaps there is nothing to find after all.

Hold on a second while I see if I can pull this sword out. Looks like it might be worth something.

I'd know that blade anywhere. It's been infused with.

With what?

[D]

Never mind. All that matters now is that I have proof. This is hers. Madonna's blade. It marks her final resting place. So this is not just a pile of rocks. It's a cairn.

So it would seem. And with that being the case, we must leave it untouched.

I would assume this is the work of the Custodian. Tessa. It could be no one else.

Perhaps it is customary for them to farewell their dead in this manner. A warrior's farewell. Or perhaps there was some other reason. Either way, this is an unexpected tribute. A fitting tribute.

[D]

I didn't know exactly what I was looking for when I first came here. But yes, I suppose it is.

[C]

Taro, just. Just give us a second, all right? Go and check the cargo or something. We'll be right with you.

Hey, Cav. Everything's fine. How are things with you?

[A]

Things are. Things are okay. I'm just sitting here inside the apartment, as per usual, trawling through the grid as I search for clues. And as you know, this isn't exactly my strong suit. Clicking buttons and staring at terminal screens is. It's not exactly how I like to do things.

[C]

That's why you got me involved, isn't it? To do the legwork?

[A]

I'd love to switch places, but, you know.

[C]

Yeah, I know. How's the kid holding up?

[A]

She's sleeping in the next room. A good thing, too. She needs all the rest she can get. Anyway. What's new, Summers? Have you got anything for me?

[C]

As a matter of fact, I do. Thanks to my usual network of scumbags and lowlifes, the ones I always shake down at a time like this. They coughed up some useful intel here. I'm sending it through now.

[A]

Nothing like kicking down a few doors to get some answers, right?

[C]

I'm sure you'd be doing the same if you weren't stuck there in that apartment. Anyway, the first few guys I talked to couldn't offer me anything much, but eventually, I hit pay dirt. Take a look at the Wire snap I just sent through. Does the guy look familiar?

[A]

Oh, shit. It's the one with the green eyes.

[C]

Can you verify it's the same guy you saw in the alley the other night?

[A]

I can't say for certain. It was dark and there was some distance between us, but it sure looks like him.

[C]

I figured it might be. This guy has been distributing a video amongst some of the lowlifes who inhabit the shady side of the grid, if you know what I mean. He's offering a bounty for a certain individual. Go ahead and play the video. You can hear it from the man himself.

This encrypted transmission is being distributed to a select list of clients, and as such, it's to be treated with discretion. Do not make unauthorized copies. Do not forward to others outside the register. Our proposal is as my team is currently pursuing a high value target and we are requesting assistance in finding her. A dossier is included with this transmission. Inside, you'll find specifics on the target's physical appearance, last known location, and several fragments of surveillance footage that were taken of her several days ago. As you scan through that surveillance, you may be inclined to doubt the seriousness of this matter, given the target's diminutive stature and seemingly innocuous appearance. Allow me to dispel that notion. Anyone who underestimates this target will fail. I guarantee it. She is highly dangerous. With that being the case, we're not asking for the target to be apprehended. Once located, details of her whereabouts should be forwarded to this channel. If that information results in her capture by my team, you will be awarded the listed bounty. I looked into it. Apparently he's known as Archer, but that's all I've got so far. No idea who he works for or any other details, for that matter.

Considering the link to Captain Graham, I wonder if he's, well, a cop. But if he is, I've never seen him around the station house. I guess he could be from another precinct.

[C]

Is that something you could find out?

[A]

I'll have to be discreet. If I go digging around inside personnel records, I'm gonna raise some red flags in the system. No doubt about it. But yeah, I. I could do it. What about the dossieri mentioned? Did you check it out?

[C]

Yeah, but apart from a few grainy surveillance snaps of Jade, there's not a lot in there. Seems Archer and his people don't know much more about her history than we do.

[A]

Well, they must know something. My guess is they don't want to make it public knowledge.

[C]

Right. They're keeping things close to the chest. What's up? Is something on your mind?

[A]

I was just wondering why Archer seems to think that Jade was so dangerous. Is that the truth? Or are they just trying to make sure no one gets close to her for some other reason?

[C]

I don't know, Cav. I already have my concerns about her before I found the transmission. Now I'm even less confident. I don't doubt that you can take care of yourself, Cav.

[A]

But forget about me. I'm fine. Is there anything else we need to talk about?

[C]

Well, it occurred to me that this whole situation might be perfect for that grid crawler who's looking into that Strickland stuff for me. He'd probably be a big help. The problem is, I don't want to distract him from the task he's already working on.

[A]

No, I. I get it. We don't want to screw anything up for your Strickland investigation. And besides, I. I have reservations about bringing outsiders on board that I don't personally know and trust. I'm sure you vetted this guy for your own purposes, but I. I wouldn't feel right getting him involved in this whole thing with Jade. So let's leave him out of it.

Well, he says he's moved on. How do we know that's not a ruse to lull us into a false sense of security?

No way did you see him in that restaurant sipping his wine and checking the gloss on his freshly manicured nails? He can deny it all he wants, but it's pretty clear to me that Dreyfus has gone soft.

Now that you mention it, he didn't quite have that gleam in his eye. And like you'd expect to see see from someone in his line of work.

The guy has a decent resume, but he's well past his prime. No doubt about it. A decade ago, he might have been a tougher proposition. But now, as far as I'm concerned, it's pretty clear he's earned a good living over the years. Now he's in his twilight, looking for easy targets to pad out his cred balance.

A thug who's lived in Highgate City so long that he's lost his edge. I can see that. So maybe we put a line through Dreyfus name. He's no longer a threat. But what about the person who's on the other end of that scramble link? Who the hell put out the contract?

[F]

That's not gonna be an easy question to answer with the list of enemies I've got. Well, it could be anyone.

And since we can't trace the scramble link, there's not much we can do but wait for whoever it is to make their next move.

Alright, onto the next thing. This biotech guy that Crow told us about. Stephen Killer, wasn't it?

[F]

That's the name Crow gave us.

Yeah. We're almost at the address. Do you still want to go through with it?

[F]

Might as well. Since we're here after that, maybe Kavanaugh will get off our backs about this whole thing. Let me just find a parking spot. If this rain keeps up, I'm going to need to trade in a van for a goddamn wave skimmer.

At least the drainage works on these shiny Highgate city streets. I just hope they're holding up in the Dockerton underground through all of this.

Ximena still has some friends working there. She said it's all hands on deck. Right now the pumps are working overtime to keep the flow under control.

All the more reason to stay as far away from Dockerton as possible, I guess. With all that fighting between the resistance and Millicon and now the rain, Sooner or later, chances are you're either gonna drown or get your head blown off in the crossfire.

I know I've offered to get Ximena out of there plenty of times, but she's still adamant she wants to stay. She's not giving up on the commune.

Depends on how much the information in these documents is worth.

What if Crow was right and this Steeler guy really was the one who put that neuro shard in Jade Skull? If the people chasing her found out.

About it, they could be using Stiller's records to get to Jade.
