It teaches you what medication and dose you need. No other book has ever done that. It will help you to understand why you are being misdiagnosed, why you're being under treated and why you can't talk about hormones, weight loss or menopause without talking about the thyroid. I called it Thyroid Bible because like I said, this is going to be the thyroid book of the next few decades. When you pre order, you're not just supporting me, you're telling the publisher. You're working on your hormones. That's amazing. But you might still feel puffy, foggy, just like your body is holding on to stress. That was the missing piece for so many of my patients and the fix was simpler than what they had expected. It's heat. Specifically, infrared sauna. Now, when I learned all the benefits many years ago, I was of course blown away. Infrared heat shifts your body into rest and recover mode and helps to bring down cortisol, the stress hormone that totally wrecks our sleep and puts on weight on our waistline. It helps your body sweat out heavy metals and toxins. Why are we doing these weird detoxes when we can just sweat with infrared heat? And for women in menopause, emerging research even links regular heat therapy to better insulin sensitivity and less weight gain. Did you know that your insulin goes haywire in menopause? Now, the sauna that I trust and I have researched them all is sunlighten. The session itself is just therapeutic. It's healing, it's relaxing. It is not unbearably hot. Even if you're in menopause, ladies, it's not unbearably hot. It feels like a warm hug and it feels like you're detoxing. So you literally walk out of the sauna even though you sweated. You're energized, you're rejuvenated. To me, it's just a part of my weekly routine I get in the sauna at least three, four times a week. It's just a no brainer. The absolute best thing you can do for detox, weight loss, pain and anti aging is use your sunlight and sauna. And they have all kinds, from portable ones to the big, big saunas that can fit four people. You can find the right fit for your space@sunlighten.com Dr. Amy and use the code Dr. Amy 26 for up to $1,600 off. So that's S N L I G H T N.com D R A M I E. Use the code D R a m I e 26 like we're in the year 2026. Dr. Amy 26 for up to sixteen hundred dollars off. So you're going to get a discount no matter what model you purchase. Just use that code. What would I do if I had 90 days only to fix my thyroid from scratch? If I lost any everything tomorrow, hypothetically, my supplements, my clinic, my lab access, my team, my protocols, all of my connections, and I had only 90 days to fix my thyroid and metabolism from scratch. This is exactly what I would do. This isn't what sounds good. It's not what's trending, it's not what Instagram is screaming at you to try next. I'm going to do what actually works. And before we go any further, I need you to hear this clearly. This isn't a checklist, it's a sequence. Because with the thyroid, order matters more than effort. And most women aren't stuck because they're lazy or undisciplined. That's not why you're stuck right now. You're stuck because no one ever gave you a roadmap. So if you've been doing all the things, trying harder, adding more, restricting more, researching more, and losing your mind and still not feeling better, then this episode is for you. Now, here's just something I want you to keep in mind the entire time you're listening. The thyroid does not heal in chaos. It heals in safety. Most women are trying to optimize a body that doesn't even feel stable yet because it's not. The goal of the first 90 days is not perfection. It's not speed. It's not even necessarily weight loss. Although I know that that's what you want. But remember, we are doing this with virtually no tools, no labs, no meds. Now, eventually we do want to get tested and we do want to treat with the proper thyroid hormone replacement. But this is a hypothetical. What if you couldn't what if you couldn't? So first of all, when the body feels safe, it responds quickly. I want you to keep that in mind. Okay? First 30 days, stabilize before you optimize. So if I had 90 days, the first 30 would be about one thing and one thing only. Stop the chaos. This is where most people get it wrong. Because you're so desperate, you're so frustrated. You've been dealing with this for so long that you jump right into fixing gut issues and mold and parasites and trauma and detoxes and supplements and peptides and fasting and cold plunges. And then you're shocked when your thyroid isn't responding well. Yeah. Because you just threw the kitchen sink at it. And when it comes to the thyroid, that is not going to work over. Biohacking is not going to work. So here's what I would actually focus on. First, I would get proper labs. Just once, just once, I would go out of my way. If I couldn't have my team write a lab order, I would go figure out a way to get thorough lab testing done. Just one time. So I wasn't guessing. I wasn't running for labs every two weeks. Just one time to get that full picture, that full thyroid panel. I want a full thyroid panel, I want a full hormone panel. And then, yeah, if we can throw in some inflammation markers, iron status, maybe some vitamin D, that, that'd be fantastic. But if we just have thyroid and hormones, that's it, then I would do that. Now, of course, just, just side note, if I could find something like the Fixer Power Lab, a beautiful AD H test where you can test your thyroid and hormones. Go to fixerpowerlab.com that is an home test that we developed specifically for these types of situations where someone literally doesn't. Now I know this is a hypothetical, but in these situations where someone really can't access thorough lab testing, this is an option in order to be able to get that full thyroid and full hormone panel right in front of you so you can see what's going on. Because let's face it, guessing is expensive and guessing is what keeps you stuck for years. Test, don't guess, test thoroughly so your doctor doesn't just tell you that your TSH looks normal and everything is fine and they're like, what? Wait, wait, I had testing done and it's normal. Wait, what's happening? What? Why do I feel this way? No, you have to test thoroughly. When we say test, don't guess, we don't mean one test, we don't mean a Half ass test. We mean a thorough thyroid panel and a thorough hormone panel. That's all you can get. That's all you can get. But technically that's all you need to get all the information that you need. All the information to give you that beautiful insight inside your body. Second, medication clarity. One of the biggest mistakes I see is dose hopping, changing meds too often, changing too many variables at once. If I'm on medication, if I'm on thyroid hormone replacement, not just T4 only, we know T4 only doesn't work if I am on the proper thyroid hormone replacement. If you are using the thyroid fix book to determine what medication you should be on, which that's what it's for, then you get on that medication and you don't panic every time you feel tired. You don't adjust this weekly. You don't layer 5,000 supplements to compensate for uncertainty. Oh, I'm a little tired. Let me take a nootropic and extra B vitamins and load up on this Instagram influencers product that they swear will help my energy. Just stop. Stop. Take a breather. Give it time. One change at a time, then wait. Because thyroid medication works slowly, not loudly. You need to give it time. And progress is not linear. You will get better and then get worse a little bit and then get better and then backtrack a little bit and then get better. It is not linear. It is a zigzag line moving upward. Eventually you will get to optimization land. But it's going to be a journey. That this is a marathon is not a sprint. I will use all the cliches necessary to drive this point home for my patients. I say patience, grasshopper, because you need patience. Progress is not linear. Remember that. Third, and this is huge nervous system regulation. So going back to what we said in the beginning, if your body doesn't feel safe, it will not heal. Period. So that means in the first 30 days I am choosing sleep over getting in that workout. I'm going to be choosing walking or yoga over high intensity interval training. Morning light. Over scrolling my phone, Put the phone down, go out and look at the sunlight. Do not touch your phone until after you have looked at the sun. This makes a huge difference, believe it or not. Consistency over intensity. Be consistent. Pounding your body into the ground, starving your body and over exercising is not producing a safe environment for your thyroid. This is not the phase for pushing. This is the phase for stabilizing. And yes, that means some of you need to hear this. Constant fasting is not helping you under Eating is not helping you. Over training is not helping you. And stimulants disguised as fat burners are also not helping you. Your thyroid doesn't respond to punishment, okay? It responds to love and care. And finally, in the first 30 days, I'm removing obvious interference. Not everything, just the obvious stuff. If something clearly makes me feel worse, I pause it. If I'm doing five new things at once, then I back off. If I'm living in flight or fight, I stop pretending that supplements can fix that. Because again, your thyroid does not heal in chaos. Chill out, calm down, Stop pushing so hard. Let the process work and be patient. Now, second phase, days 31 through 60. This is where we're going to support conversion. We're going to support our hormones and that we had tested in phase one. So this is where people think they're fixing their thyroid, but what they're actually fixing is how their body uses the thyroid hormone. So this is the phase of cooperation, not four. So the first thing I'm focusing on here is T4 to T3 conversion. Because we are assuming that I don't have a doctor like my team that will prescribe T3. I got the testing done. I can see I need help converting that T4 to T3. But I am on T4 only. I'm stuck on T4 only because I'm still stuck in the conventional medicine system. I am, for this episode, removing all possibilities of help except what I can source. So I can source the fixer power lab and test myself at home and get answers. That I can do. But I can't force my doctor to prescribe me the right thyroid hormone replacement because I'm pretending like I'm not with us. I'm not with the Advanced Thyroid and Hormone Clinic. I don't have access to this. So we're role playing here, right? So the first thing I'm focusing on here, how can I get all this craptastic T4 that my doctor is giving me to push over into T3? Because having thyroid hormone in your body doesn't mean that your cells can use it. We've talked about this. It's in the book. Read the book. You. T4 is the inactive thyroid hormone. It must become T3 to get to your cell to do its job. Now, this is where liver health matters. This is where inflammation matters and nutrient status, nutrient sufficiency matters a ton. And this is where people love to oversimplify. Conversion is not just a supplement. It's not. Just take some selenium, you'll be fine. Take Some zinc, you'll be fine. It's whether your body is inflamed, it's whether your stress hormones are high. It's whether your gut and liver are overwhelmed. All of that matters. So instead of throwing in supplements over and over and over again, now some supplements are necessary. They help. Yes, yes, yes. But what I'm saying here is just throwing some zinc at you, just throwing some selenium, just eating a Brazil nut, that's not going to cover it. You need to dig, you need to support supplementally. But then you need to find out what's blocking my body from responding. Am I insulin resistant? Am I estrogen dominant? Am I severely deficient in not just selenium and zinc, but what about iodine? Am I stressed out? I need some adrenal support like Ashwagandha. What is it that I need in my body to just help support, support, support? Maybe I do add in some T3 conversion fixer because it has all of that in and it's going to help my body convert T4 to maybe I add in some iodine because that's the biggest reason why reverse T3 is elevated, is low iodine. And then we go into all of the other factors like stress and insulin resistance and estrogen dominance and genetic snips that can prevent conversion as well. There's not much you can do about the genetic snips, but we can do something about all the other things when we know what they are. So tune into your body and figure out what is blocking this conversion next. And this is where women, a lot of women have an aha moment. I'm looking at hormones in context. Estrogen, progesterone, testosterone. Because pretending hormones don't matter while trying to fix a thyroid, like changing the oil in a car with no engine, it's just not gonna run. Do you want to burn fat while just sitting around? Do you have extra weight to lose? Do you want less inflammation? Do you want to reduce your oxidative stress? Do you want to improve your lipid panel, maybe become more insulin sensitive? And once again burn fat while you're sitting there at rest at your desk or on your couch watching Netflix? Well, now you can, with the power of T2 that is in thyroid fixer. Now, Thyroid fixer is not just for those with a thyroid problem. It's for anyone looking to lose body fat to improve their metabolism to have better energy. Thyroid fixer actually works at your mitochondrial level, so it is stimulating your metabolism. It's also activating ATP, which gives you more energy. Nice and steady through the day. Here's the other really cool thing that thyroid fixer does. It turns on a gene that prevents fat from. From accumulating all over your body. So that means, yeah, if you slip up and you have the Oreo cookie or the sweet potato fries, which are my two favorite, they're my downfalls. That is not going to put extra fat on your butt, your hips, your thighs and your abs. Oh, and your arms, you don't want those jiggly arms. So why don't you just improve your fat burning potential and actually turn on a gene that prevents fat from accumulating on your body with the power of thyroid fixer. So. So as a listener of the Thyroid Fixer podcast, your first time purchase, you can use the code listen 20 l I s t e n 20. We'll put that down in the show notes. And if you've already purchased it, but you just want to save a little something, something extra, then use the code listen 10 L I s t e n 10 and grab some thyroid fixer. Stock up today because it will help you burn extra body fat. And who doesn't want that? They go together. So midlife women especially need to hear this. If estrogen is too low, too high, or fluctuating wildly, like in menopause or perimenopause, your thyroid will struggle. If progesterone is low, then sleep suffers, cortisol rises and then conversion suffers. Because when you're not sleeping and you have excess cortisol, then your T4 to T3 conversion is going to suffer. This is where thyroid and hormones go so well together. If testosterone is tanked, your metabolism slows, muscle loss accelerates, fatigue goes deeper. You cannot fix the thyroid in isolation. Next up in this phase, fueling the metabolism, getting in. Enough protein, getting in. You ready for this? Enough calories being consistent. So why protein? Obvious. Okay, protein. We know. And we're even seeing it advertised on Chipotle. We have high protein meals now. Yes, the word about protein is getting out. The importance of protein is also out there. We need to support our body, give it protein, to be metabolically efficient, to protect our organ of longevity, our muscles. Our muscles then protect our bones, but our muscle is also metabolically active if we don't get in enough calories. Let's go back to the 1990s where caloric deprivation, starvation diets. The starvation effect is real. Your body will hold on to fat when you are in a calorically deprived state. It will hold on to fat for its dear life. It will Say no way in hell are you releasing this fat because you're not even eating enough fuel to get us through the day. So we are going to hold on to the fuel for the next time that you decide to starve us out. Please and thank you. Then and only then will we actually release this fat for fuel. Now, I'm not talking about perfection. I am not talking about restriction. And let me be very clear, I am not talking about earning food. What do I mean by that? Because I used to be there. If I exercise for like two hours today, then when we go out to eat tonight, I'm gonna have a little piece of bread and you know, I'm gonna have some of those, those onion straws, whatever, you know, deep fried or mozzarella sticks, I don't even know whatever your, whatever your like is there. But we're not earning our food. We're not over exercising in order to burn the calories to then re eat them later on. But we're also not starving because a starved body will not convert thyroid hormone. It won't. When you are starving, not only is your body holding onto that fat, it also sees it as a stressor. And it will pump up your cortisol, it will push out more cortisol. You'll be in a high cortisol state which then pushes up your blood sugar or your glucose also pushes up your insulin and high insulin and high glucose impair T4 to T3 conversion and finally movement with intention. This is where I might gently reintroduce strength training. Not to burn calories, not to punish my body, but to send the signal we are safe, we are strong, we are rebuilding here. At this stage, we stop forcing and we start cooperating. This is where your body cooperates with you because you're not doing CrossFit seven days a week. You're just adding in some weight training. You're not spending an hour on the peloton and, and then getting off and doing an hour of weight training. You're just doing 45 minutes of weight training. Screw the peloton. Remember, nothing intense that's going to crush us and spike our cortisol. Day 61 through 90, this is the refine. Don't reinvent time. This is where most people blow it actually, because by now things are starting to work. Energy is getting a little bit more more there, more predictable. Brain fog is lifting, sleep is improving, inflammation is down. And instead of staying the course, you panic. You panic. This is not a time to panic. Day 61 to 90. I would reassess I would not get obsessed. Yes. Do some labs if needed, so you can see where things are moving. You want to look at those labs with your symptoms in context. You want to look for patterns. We're not looking for perfection by day 90 because things are still moving and shaking. And if medication needs adjusting, then we do that intentionally based on your symptoms, based on what has improved. So this is the time that you really go deep with inside of yourself. And even though you're really frustrated that you haven't lost those ten pounds and it's been three months or another thing, I'll hear from people. I only. I only lost two pounds this month. I go only what was happening beforehand. Oh, well, I was gaining weight. Right, right, right. So £2 would be a win, wouldn't you say? Oh, yeah. You know what? But I really wanted 10 pounds. Okay, we have a but you're hypothyroid and you're in month two, maybe three. That's not gonna happen right now. And in fact, ten pounds is a month is in. A month is a lot for anyone. That would really be pushing your body to a stressful limit, and that might end up actually in a rebound weight gain, because that stress will shut down your thyroid, will negate everything that we've done here. So let's reset expectations in this phase as well. If you lose one to two pounds a month, that is a win, because you had no metabolism before because you were hypo low and slow. So if your medication needs adjusting, which it will, it will at this point of time, then let's do that. Now, again, I know we were hypothetically saying that you actually didn't have access to proper medication because you don't actually have access to us. Right. So we're hypothetically saying you were out there on your own. So what can you do at this time if you're not seeing that reverse D3 come down? Even though you've added in the iodine, you've added in selenium, you've added in vitamin D, you added in T3 Conversion Fixer, you're doing all the things that we just talked about. You're providing safety for your body, you're slowing down, you're not overdoing, you're not over starving, you're not over exercising, you're not over stressing, you're not under sleeping, you're not on your phone all the time, then maybe, maybe, maybe at this point of time, you do add in thyroid fixer. That is going to help a little bit with your T3 might bump up that T3 a little bit and it's definitely going to add another layer of support for that T4 to T3 conversion. Maybe this is the time where you double down on your insulin and your blood sugar and you say, okay, well, even though I've done all the things, my insulin is still above A six, my blood glucose is still running high and or my A1C is still above a 5.2, I need to double down on that. Because that we know produces inflammation and hinders T4 to T3 conversion version. It also hinders your thyroid from producing the right amount of thyroid hormone. Oh, the other thing in thyroid fixer, it contains L tyrosine, which actually helps your body produce more thyroid hormone. It's an amino acid building block for thyroid hormone. So at that point of time, you're stuck on T4, you're trying to do all the things you're adding in the supplements that really are working. They really are working. Now, we're not talking about a boatload of supplements, we're just talking about the ones that we just talked about here to help support the body, support the thyroid and producing T4 and T3. Give it a little bit of T2. That's going to help at the mitochondria level. That's going to help with our basal metabolic rate, inflammation and energy. Okay, now we go a little bit deeper. Let's fine tune the medication piece. So let's say you're on T4 only and that reverse T3 is still above a12. This is where we pull down the T4. We back it down, we back it down. Now, in a perfect world, this is where we add in T3 because T4 only doesn't work. This is where we want to put it together, but I'm really, I'm really trying to, to not bring that in. I'm trying to go at this from a what would I do If I had 90 days and I had no resources, I had no outside resources, no outside help from a practitioner that knows what they're doing with a thyroid and we'll do all the things right? I am not in your world. Block me out. This is you on your own with your conventional doctor giving you T4 only. What would you do? So at this point in time, maybe you back off on the T4 just a little bit because you just can't even access T3. But at least you got T2 on board. Now. I would not start a brand new protocol, I would not start a new gut healing protocol. I would not start a liver detox. I would not start a parasite protocol, for God's sake. And do not start a heavy metal detoxing type of protocol. I wouldn't layer biohacking just because it's exciting. I would not change everything because one number isn't perfect. Truthfully, healing looks boring when it's working. And boring is good. This is what I ask patients all the time. You know, how do you feel? And if you tell me, like, well, you just feel little shifts, like, oh, good, that's perfect, that's exactly what we want. I don't want you to feel major shifts because that means something's broken. So, you know, you. You should not be feeling major shifts this early in the game. What are you doing on the side that's going to backfire on us now? If you remember nothing else from this episode, remember this. The sequence and how you do things with intention matter so much more than just going at it with full intensity and throwing the kitchen sink at it all at once. Why isn't this working? That is what you will feel inside. That is going to create chaos. Why isn't this working? I need to do more. I need to restrict more. I need to exercise more. I need to fast more. I need to supplement more. I need to biohack more. No, even when I say that it sounds hectic, it sounds crazy. And that's how our bodies respond when we are in that state of desperation, doing all the things at one time. Slow down and breathe. Consistency matters way more over the novelty of a biohacking device. Take the pressure off of your body and breathe. Most women don't fail because they're not trying hard enough. They fail because no one has ever told them what actually matters. Your thyroid responds when your body feels supported, not threatened, over and over again. When the inputs you are giving your body are clear, when the changes you are making are so intentional, and when you stop chasing everything and you start stabilizing your body and your nervous system, things work together. This is not about doing more. It's about doing the right things in the right order. Now, let's talk about what does not matter. Because I want you to feel this releasing your body as you hear it. Perfect macros do not matter. Eliminating every food group does not matter. Ah, yes, yes. Chasing things like food intolerances, histamine reactions, Sibo or H. Pylori does not matter. Okay, that's good. Supplements with cute labels. And anything that is advertised to you on Instagram does not matter. Unless it's thyroid fixer. Of course, we already talked about how that will help. But can I tell you how many Instagram products I've bought to be highly disappointed? Highly. I feel like the only thing advertised on Instagram is bad products. Side note, what worked for your friend also doesn't matter. What someone on social media swears by does not matter. Even if they're a health influencer, it doesn't matter. Remember from the book or when you get the book, you'll see this many practitioners out there, especially on social media, but in the functional medicine space are jacks of all trades and masters of none. So should a man who has never had a thyroid problem before, never been through perimenopause or menopause, and who's focused on protein powders and gut healing protocols his entire career be speaking on the thyroid? Should a man who doesn't have the ability to prescribe thyroid medication or bioidentical hormone replacement be standing on a stage telling a woman that she doesn't need hormones? That seems a little bit one sided and a little bit sketchy. So you want me to buy your program because you can't prescribe me what I need? I see. And if someone on social media promises you that all you have to do is stop eating cold salads and drink aloe vera juice for nine months, you might want to think twice about it. Being good every single day does not matter. You do not have to be perfect. Your thyroid doesn't need perfection. Neither do you. Your thyroid needs clarity and it needs consistency and it needs time. So if you give your body 90 days of the right inputs in the right order, it will respond. I've seen this thousands of times. The problem has never been effort. The problem has been direction. And if no one ever laid this out for you before, now you have it. This is your 90 day roadmap. If you remove all external help, all external sources, this is your roadmap. The information shared on the Thyroid Fixer Podcast is intended solely for informational and educational purposes. Host: Dr. Amie Hornaman
Date: June 9, 2026
In this episode, Dr. Amie Hornaman delivers a step-by-step roadmap for women with hypothyroidism or Hashimoto’s who feel defeated by chronic symptoms like fatigue, weight gain, brain fog, and hair loss. Dr. Amie sets aside all advanced resources and imagines what she would do with only 90 days, minimal outside help, and the basics (some labs, maybe medication) to start turning thyroid health around “from scratch.” The episode is packed with no-nonsense advice and practical strategies, continually emphasizing the importance of doing the right things in the right order and giving the body a sense of safety—not chaos—for lasting change.
Dr. Amie stresses that recovery is not about a massive to-do list, but a deliberate sequence—order is everything.
Dr. Amie provides reassurance and perspective by listing things women can stop worrying about:
Dr. Amie’s core message:
If you give your body the right inputs in the right order for 90 days—no matter how “basic” the resources—you will move the needle. Direction, not effort, has been the missing link for most women.
"This is your 90-day roadmap. If you remove all external help, all external sources, this is your roadmap." (1:23:39)
