The Tim and April show where we unravel faith, politics and culture.
Tim Whitaker
Oh, I didn't bring you into this shot. I always do this with you. I don't know why. There you are.
April Ajoy
How rude.
Tim Whitaker
How rude. What's rude are those headphones.
April Ajoy
Well, I forgot bring my headphones. My usual ones and I happen to have these nearby. I am in Georgia at the moment.
Guest/Additional Commentator
Yeah.
Tim Whitaker
Well, welcome into the show everyone. I am Tim Whitaker.
April Ajoy
And I'm April Ajoy.
Tim Whitaker
Oh, we got a fun one today. Kind of a little more light hearted than the usual. Everything is terrible. Although everything is still terrible. Welcome in friends on YouTube and on Substack. Make sure to like this video if you're watching on YouTube and heart this stream on substack. April, you're not in town. You're not, well, you're not in your normal studio right now. You're somewhere else entirely.
April Ajoy
Correct? I am at my in laws in Georgia.
Tim Whitaker
So I've been traveling, traveling the usa, hanging out.
April Ajoy
I am here.
Tim Whitaker
I, I did finish Widows Bay. We talked about it last week. I finished.
April Ajoy
So good.
Tim Whitaker
Of course, no spoilers, no nothing. I enjoyed it. You know what it is? And again, this is all spoiler free. There's nothing about this show I'm talking about. This show blends a lot of genres into one. There's some humor, there's kind of like a Lost vibe. If you ever watched Lost, they kind of riff on different horror movies and Stephen King stuff. So each episode feels like a standalone but also is connected, you know. So I, I, I enjoyed it. I'm looking forward to season two for sure. For sure.
April Ajoy
So I know that you're typically. You don't like scary stuff. So how did it rank for you? Cause it is scary.
Tim Whitaker
I was under the covers so often, but usually for no reason. Like there were times where I'm like, okay, this is it. There's gonna be this jump scare moment and then it doesn't really happen, you know. But then when, just when you think it's not gonna happen, it happens. Like, dang it, they threw me off my game. So I mean you can ask Sarah. I don't do scary and I don't do haunted houses. I don't do any hate the jump scare. I hate it. And but I will say it was, you know, that part of it was well worth it for me. Like the show overall was really, really good. So. Yeah.
April Ajoy
Yeah, I felt like. I don't. This might be not great for this episode because it has nothing to do with anything, but I felt like the scariest episode for me was episode two where he stays at the inn.
Tim Whitaker
That definitely was. We'll leave it there. Yeah, it was scary.
April Ajoy
So if you get through episode two.
Tim Whitaker
Yeah, yeah, you're good. You're going.
April Ajoy
Not as scary.
Tim Whitaker
Anyway. What else do I have to talk about? You have in our notes. Banter. World Cup. Are we talking about the World Cup?
April Ajoy
I just didn't know if you're watching the World Cup.
Tim Whitaker
I am not.
April Ajoy
Are you news? Nope. But. But I mean, I'm watching, like I. I hear things. I'm watching here and there. I was in downtown Atlanta yesterday because Atlanta is one of the hosts of the World Cup. So it was pretty cool because there were just people decked out in soccer gear everywhere, like thousands of people. So that was cool. And then we took a picture with one of the World Cups in front of the World of Coke because that's where we went yesterday. Because my oldest turned 10.
Tim Whitaker
Oh my gosh.
April Ajoy
So I've now been a mom for a decade.
Tim Whitaker
That's crazy.
April Ajoy
Which is 10 year old, which really is wild.
Audience/Background Voices
That's.
Tim Whitaker
That is wild. No, I have not watched the World Cup. First off, I have to pay for the like a Fox One account, which is 20 bucks a month. And I just don't care enough in order to watch the games. I don't have like, you know, cable or anything. I just don't care enough about soccer personally to spend that kind of money to watch a game. That I just really don't follow a whole lot of. Obviously, you know, go team USA but, but I live by Philadelphia, 20 minutes away from Philly, and one of the stadiums for the World cup is right here. And I'll tell you, locals are so frustrated because everything has been jacked up price wise. Transportation costs have gone through the roof to get a ticket to a game at the World cup in Philly for just like a random match that has no significance. Like, American culture is like $900 in the nosebleeds per person. It's crazy. It's crazy. So that's wild. So, yeah, no, I. I will not be attending.
April Ajoy
But yeah, well, anyway, the World cup is happening.
Tim Whitaker
I just felt like the World cup is happening.
April Ajoy
It would be culturally important for us to reference it.
Tim Whitaker
Yeah, that's fair. That's fair. That's fair. Yeah. You want to hop in, like our main story that is just maybe just
April Ajoy
like dive into the shallow end of the pool.
Tim Whitaker
Oh, I like that. Maybe. Yeah. Tip a toe in into the water, see how. How it feels. I don't know. I cannot believe that this is a story that we have to talk about. I cannot believe we have to talk about the reflecting pool in Washington, dc, But we do.
April Ajoy
That is. It has evolved into quite the story. I mean, we referenced it last week.
Tim Whitaker
Yes.
April Ajoy
But it has grown legs like a swamp creature and created a life of its own. It's kind of like running wild.
Tim Whitaker
This is gonna be a deep cut for you. Exvangelicals. It's kind of like Larry Boy in the rumor weed. Ever watch the episode, you know, the little weed that starts this big, then as rumors spread, it gets bigger and bigger? That's why I feel like this has become. It's like the swamp version, the rumor weed. So just to catch people up on the story briefly, here's what has happened. It is true that the reflecting pool has needed repairs for a long, long time. That's like, not a secret. It's a thing. No big deal. Trump decided that it had to get done immediately. So they gave a no bid contract to a. To a company. A no bid contract means the government did not seek multiple quotes. Okay. And the only time that they do this is if something is in is going to cause imminent harm to the government. So apparently for Trump, this was so problematic, and I do think it coincides with his birthday bash, UFC nonsense. But they gave a $14 million bid to a company named. I have it down here somewhere. They're out of Virginia. Okay. And they were given the contract to paint, to drain the pool, paint it blue because that's what Trump wanted, and then refill it. So they did that. And we've all seen the pictures for like three days. It looked real blue. And then the algae came back. There has been algae there before, but it came back with a vengeance, a massive vengeance. And then we'll break this down. The government gave another no bid contract to a company, and I'm not making this up when I tell you the name called Green Water Solutions, that was designed to apparently clean up the algae, and they have not done a great job. And that's where we are today.
April Ajoy
So we started dumping in. Was it like hydrogen peroxide? But it only was on the edges, so then the edges looked kind of blue, but it looked green in the middle. We shared that picture last week. And I will say one of my favorite things about this story is people started showing up dressed as algae to go to the reflecting pool. And there were protesters that had signs that said something like, team Algae. Yeah. So there's the blue on the outside, and then just green in the middle. But, yeah, the algae protesters are just giving me life. And I don't know if you've seen some of the memes, too, are so funny. I saw one that was like LGBTQ Pride.
Tim Whitaker
Oh, my gosh. Oh, my gosh.
April Ajoy
That is so brilliant. Just so funny.
Tim Whitaker
I was also mentioned that the contractor that. That won the bid, the no bid to paint the reflecting pool blue, quoted the government $1.8 million, and it ended up costing taxpayers 13.1 million, and that includes a 20% profit margin. And, you know, I just always want to ask, like, you know, where is Doge when you need them? Like, isn't this why, you know, Trump got in office to drain the swamp? In this case, literally. And here we are spending millions of dollars, and the result is this. This is the result.
April Ajoy
Yeah. And as we all know, Donald Trump cannot take accountability for anything. Nothing is ever his fault. It's always someone else's fault. He. Everything he touches has to turn to gold, even though it's clearly turning green. And so he's now blaming vandalism and saying that, like, Democrats are coming in and purposely, like, I feel like he said at some point, like, people were putting algae in, I don't know, like, the algae people just carry around in their back pocket.
Tim Whitaker
Part of the issue is that this paint that they put down, what, a couple weeks ago, a month ago, is already peeling. Here's a picture of it here on the screen.
Guest/Additional Commentator
It is.
Tim Whitaker
The blue paint is peeling up. Okay. And so, obviously you're right, April. Trump is not gonna take accountability. Right. So what does Trump do? Well, I have a clip here of Trump now blaming vandalism for what's happening. And this is. This. This clip is real all the way through. Listen to what Trump said. It is something else.
Guest/Additional Commentator
Who would think that somebody would go into a pool and Take a knife and start cutting it.
Tim Whitaker
Do you have proof of that?
Guest/Additional Commentator
Yeah, yeah.
Tim Whitaker
Photos or videos?
Guest/Additional Commentator
Well, let's put it this way. When you have a 350, I think it's 350, not 250, a 350 foot slit from one end to the other. You think that's proof?
Tim Whitaker
Boys have been down there today looking for that slit that you mentioned.
Guest/Additional Commentator
All you'd have to do is see the Parks department, they'll show it to you, see the secretary. But I saw it. They cut it very violently. The same thing with the floor. They cut it and then they lifted it, they pulled it, and that's what it is.
Tim Whitaker
By the way, this is the same playbook for the stolen election, but there. But we have no proof of a stolen election. Well, go ask so and so. They'll tell you where the proof is. It's the same thing. Same thing.
April Ajoy
My question, my question. I mean, none of what he's saying is making sense for starters, but he's just said they cut it and then said same thing with the floor. They cut it. Is he saying they cut the water?
Tim Whitaker
I don't know what he's saying.
April Ajoy
He cut it and then same thing with the floor. The floor you kind of understand. But also, does he not understand how paint works? It's not like it's a blanket that you just put down and you cut one piece.
Tim Whitaker
So I grew up in a painting business my whole life, and I painted. I'm not a good painter. That's why I don't do it anymore. But I will tell you that they probably use some kind of epoxy, like maybe a two part epoxy, some kind of water sealant. And so it will, it can peel in like, in big chunks. But you don't just cut it with the knife and then peel it. That's not how it works. Yeah, and you also said a 350 foot gash, that's a long gash. You would think all someone had to do was go to the pool, fill them, the long gash, and there's your evidence. And Trump has of course, not provided any because it doesn't exist. It doesn't exist. But he's not done yet. He has more to say.
Guest/Additional Commentator
And you know, we've done over 50 monuments. Number one, we start with, this is now a safe city. It's safe. As safe a city as you're going to get in the country. And when I came here, it was a very dangerous city. And number two, what we did is the beautification with the parks and the grass and everything, Removal of all the tents and this is like a different place. One of the things we did is over 50 fountains and statues, most of which were in horrible shape. All of them were bad, but some were just absolutely horrible graffiti. You couldn't even see the stone. They've all been fixed. We also fixed the reflecting pool. In fact, if you go over there right now, it looks very good. It's up. They put, somebody said, fertilizer in the water. If you put fertilizer in the water, you get algae. But somebody said they might have put fertilizer. They did something to create the algae. But that doesn't matter because that's been purified. It's dead laying at the bottom. They're taking it out. They vacuum it out. They vacuum it very carefully out and it'll be back to health pretty soon. We're going to have to let the water out to fix the one little. There's two little areas, very little areas where they were cut and we'll fix that. But it's not leaking or anything. It's got a base underneath.
April Ajoy
There were two little areas where they were cut or it was a 350 foot gash.
Tim Whitaker
I played the whole clip without pausing so people can hear how out of his mind this man is. He doesn't make sense.
April Ajoy
No, no, no, no.
Tim Whitaker
And there's a whole media world that gets paid to tell people that this guy is brilliant in saving the country and totally logical. He doesn't make any sense. He makes no sense. None of that makes sense. None of it. It doesn't make sense.
April Ajoy
Even him saying this is the safest city in the world. It's totally safe now. But yet you're complaining about in like intense vandalism, right?
Tim Whitaker
Yes. A 350 foot long gash in the reflection pool. So here's the thing though, April. There actually is some evidence. I'm not sure if you saw this, but. But Fox, Fox News, you know, they're top tier for journalism.
April Ajoy
They have evidence to be truthful.
Tim Whitaker
They have Jesse Waters in particular. They have. He has video evidence of potentially people vandalizing the reflecting pool. Here we go, friends.
Audience/Background Voices
I can't wait.
Tim Whitaker
Here we go. Buckle up
Guest/Additional Commentator
all.
Tim Whitaker
I'm gonna start over from the beginning.
Reporter/News Clip Voice
The Department of Interior. But the left party poopers. And primetime's got the tapes.
Tim Whitaker
Look at.
Reporter/News Clip Voice
The Department of Interior gave us a look at individuals suspected of vandalizing the reflection deflecting pool.
April Ajoy
Wow.
Reporter/News Clip Voice
Now we haven't been able to verify the video but take a look. June 19, a male, blue shirt, reaches in, stays there for a little while. He goes back down, comes back up multiple times. What's he doing then? A female, white tote bag. She reaches it. Needs a better angle. Sets the bag down, dives in a little deeper. And we don't know who these people are. No one was stopped or questioned by police, so no arrests. And we don't have the police report yet. But what are they doing with their hands in the pool?
Tim Whitaker
Yeah, what are they doing?
Reporter/News Clip Voice
Are they cutting the lining? Are they peeling off the paint? We don't know. If they're committing a crime, they'll probably tell you they dropped their wedding ring. The Department of Interior people listen to this. In the video, you're seeing two suspects observed destroying and removing a piece of the lining and attempting destruction of the lining.
Guest/Additional Commentator
Wow.
Reporter/News Clip Voice
This incident took place on June 19, 2026, and we are investigating. Destroying, injuring, defacing or removing cultural or architectural resources is a federal crime.
Tim Whitaker
Well, there you go. I mean, hey, that is. It's clear as day, April. There are two people, including that video, doing a 350 foot long gash and what Jesse Waters calls is the lining. That's not what is happening. Okay? That, that there is no lining. There is blue paint. There's blue epoxy paint on the floor.
April Ajoy
Like cement. Right.
Tim Whitaker
You don't cut it with a knife. That's not how it works. Like, I'm, as someone who has laid down epoxy, there's one part epoxy and two part epoxy. This is probably a two part epoxy. You don't just go in, even if it's not, even if it hasn't fully adhered. You don't go in with a knife and just cut it like it's a piece of paper. That's how it works.
April Ajoy
Right? It's paint. It's paint on top of, I would imagine, a cement bottle.
Tim Whitaker
Yeah. And by the way, considering that it's peeling up so quickly, tells me that this $14 million project, these people did not know how to prep the surface for this paint to adhere properly.
April Ajoy
Right.
Tim Whitaker
Okay. So again, talk about waste. There's $14 million of our taxpayer money down the drain. But hey, guys, Trump is saving the country. This guy is brilliant. Vandalism. Vandalism. It gets better, though, April. This is the funny part. Yeah. So there's two different contracts that I said, right? There's the $14 million initial drain the pool, paint the pool, refill the pool. Then when the algae bloom Happened. The government did another no bid contract to another contractor, Green Water Solutions, to then fix the pool. Right. And I have their website up. I'll show you what it looks like. It's a real company. At least that's what it looks like online. At least. So they're called. Oh, sorry, Greenwater Services, not Solutions. Okay. And they use this nanobubble ozone technology. Now this is a real thing. I did look it up. It's a real thing. It's designed to make algae go away in pools and stuff. Fine. But this is a million dollar, no big contract. And I'm going to show you a picture of the man who runs this business. This is real. This is not doctored. You ready?
April Ajoy
I'm so ready.
Tim Whitaker
There you go. He looks like he's straight out of a mob movie.
April Ajoy
And it looks like the mobster of. From like, DC Comic.
Tim Whitaker
Well, and it turns out, April, that this man is a Trump donor and neighbor at Mar A Lago. This guy lives next to Mar A Lago. Yeah. And is a Trump donor. And Trump insists he has no clue who this guy is in that and that there was no nothing fishy going on about this. Yet this dude got $1 million, no bid contract to fix the green pool.
April Ajoy
You showed me this picture when we were prepping and I did not believe that this was real. He does not look real.
Tim Whitaker
Trying to see if I can flip some more info. Here it is. His name is John Caffaro. That's his name. Yeah. Yeah. Yep. He's a businessman, according. This is according to Newsweek. He's a businessman who has donated hundreds of thousands of dollars to President Trump. He's coming under, obviously, scrutiny over ties to the contract. It's a whole thing. Again, like, guys, Trump is the swamp. This is what we expect, right? It's a $1.7 million contract. It was given to Water Greenwater Services, based in Brookfield, Ohio, to install a nano bubble device to kill algae.
April Ajoy
So I need to hear what he sounds like because in my brain it's
Tim Whitaker
just like, find a video.
April Ajoy
So let me tell you, I just got you put in the green.
Tim Whitaker
He looks like he belongs in like a Mario movie. As, like an adult. Yeah, yeah, like Mario and like Mario.
April Ajoy
Yeah.
Tim Whitaker
What's this dude's name again? We just said John. Let's see if I can find a video of him.
April Ajoy
I don't know. It's so funny to me.
Tim Whitaker
I. I know him.
April Ajoy
And Roger Stone. Roger Stone also looks like something you see out of like a cartoon movie.
Tim Whitaker
He also has a picture of him with a cigar in his mouth?
April Ajoy
No, he does not.
Tim Whitaker
This is. Okay, I'm gonna pull this up.
Guest/Additional Commentator
He.
April Ajoy
Does he know the. The vibe he's given?
Tim Whitaker
Look at this. Look at that picture. That's from Aaron Parnas talking.
April Ajoy
Oh, my.
Tim Whitaker
That's a real picture.
April Ajoy
How are these people real? That's so wild. But there's no sound there. I don't know for.
Tim Whitaker
Again, no sound.
April Ajoy
Again.
Tim Whitaker
There's no sound here.
April Ajoy
Oh, no sound.
Tim Whitaker
I don't know why it's doing this. Yeah, Aaron Parness here.
Sponsor/Ad Voice
I'm from donor John Carof, Greenwater Services. John Caro. According to the New York Times, John Caro previously pled guilty in separate fine federal criminal cases involving bribery and campaign finance violations. He's a big time Trump donor and his company's name is Green Water Services. Greenwater Services received a one million plus dollar no bid contract to help install the water filtration systems inside the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool. The same.
Tim Whitaker
There you go. There you go.
Audience/Background Voices
Wow.
Tim Whitaker
So he. That you can't write these stories. This is the, the. God. It is unreal. Unreal.
April Ajoy
Like real life.
Tim Whitaker
Here's what I was thinking about. I was thinking about this whole scenario. You know, we wasted $16 million of taxpayer money. Obviously, all of a sudden Doge is not around to talk about the waste, fraud and abuse that we're seeing in front of us, et cetera.
April Ajoy
Right?
Tim Whitaker
And then it hit me. I'm like, you know, this whole situation is a perfect example of what Christian nationalism does. There is such a correlation here because the whole thing about Trump in this reflecting pool is that Trump comes in and goes, oh, the reflecting pool, it's so broken. It's so bad.
Audience/Background Voices
We.
Tim Whitaker
I'm going to make it great again. I'm going to make it all better. I'm going to fix all the problems. And they hire all this fraudulent crony. You know, there's always like really back, back door deals and stuff. And we waste money to do it. Make it even worse than what it was before. It's worse than it was before. If that is not what Christian nationalism does. They give you this, this, they sell you this myth that things are so horrific right now, they're so terrible that if they don't step in to save the country, we're gonna lose the country. But the reality is once they get power, as we're seeing via Donald Trump, they make everything worse. Because guess what? Before Donald Trump was elected again, we were not kidnapping children and throwing them into concentration camps. We weren't doing that. But we are now. The correlation had to be called out.
April Ajoy
I also think a good example is even their solutions are not actually solutions. Like even Trump saying, what we need to do is paint it American flag blue, where every expert was never, no one has ever suggested that's how you fix your algae problem. That's how you make the water clear. He's inventing solutions like you just paint over. It's almost like putting a band aid on a bullet wound. Like maybe it helps a little for a brief moment of time, but then your problems are all still there because you didn't actually attack the problem. You attacked some kind of weird symptom that may not even be a symptom
Tim Whitaker
because they don't care about science or data. They just want to. They want to make things. They want to get things done as quickly as possible, and they want to do it as cheap as possible. Allegedly. But really what they end up doing is fattening their own, their own pockets. Right. And their, and their friends. And doesn't work.
April Ajoy
It's the same thing with the abortion issue. They just want to ban it. In their head, like minds, they just think, oh, well, just, let's just paint over the problem. Let's just paint the abortion problem blue, ban it all. And that solves the problem, when in reality that's just going to create more problems. Because they're not actually attacking the problem, they're attacking a symptom.
Tim Whitaker
Right.
April Ajoy
And.
Tim Whitaker
Right. Well, we know. Right. For example, in Texas, maternal rates, mortality rates have skyrocketed after the, after their draconian abortion bans. They don't, they don't fix the problem. But when you're stuck on dogma and on propaganda and rhetoric and you can't actually think about things in a more complicated way than binaries, this is the result. And the reflecting pool is just another example of that. This is everything that Trump touches turns to this.
April Ajoy
Yeah. And to show some other problems that have arisen because of Trump's fixing of the reflecting pool. Ducks have died, including a little duckling. No, that. So now the environment, an environmental agency, has been called in to, I guess, try to figure out why ducks are now dying, making it worse in the reflecting pool, spending money on nothing. And now Trump's put in a chain link fence.
Sponsor/Ad Voice
Oh, yeah.
April Ajoy
Around it somewhere.
Tim Whitaker
Let me see if I can pull that up here.
April Ajoy
And did you see? I don't know if you saw. I sent you a couple of his truth social posts about it because his narrative keeps changing also.
Tim Whitaker
Yeah, I had that. I had this one. Do you want to read it in your typical Trump voice?
April Ajoy
Yeah, I'd love to. He says work will begin immediately on fixing the seriously vandalized reflecting pool. I just inspected it and could only say to myself and those gathered around me, wow, who would do such a thing? Sick, deranged people. We will fix it. President djg. Okay, and then we all have that question too.
Tim Whitaker
The next day, this is his new one.
April Ajoy
Is this the newer one? I didn't see the date on the other one.
Tim Whitaker
Yeah, this is 22nd. This is the 21st. Yep, this is the first one.
April Ajoy
Next day, of the many statues and fountains that we rebuilt, renovated, cleaned and fixed, the only one that was vandalized was the reflecting pool, which is being taken care of ASAP. It has been given a 300 foot long gash. Chemicals have been illegally placed in the water, and the beautiful new grass field has been destroyed with a gigantic 8647 chemically carved into it. Probably inspired by dirty cop James Comey. Please remember that there is a 10 year prison sentence for the destruction or even the attempted destruction of such things, which will be fully enforced. Thank you for your attention to this matter. President DJT. What is he talking about? 8647 in the grass field.
Tim Whitaker
That's the thing. Yeah, that is a thing. 8647 grass fields. That's what the people are saying. I'll show you a picture of it.
April Ajoy
Giant, it says 300 foot long gash here. And I think in the clip we played earlier, it was 350, so it
Tim Whitaker
is a little hard to see, but it does look intentional. So this is the picture here from ABC News. They found a. You see it in the wall there?
April Ajoy
I see an eight.
Tim Whitaker
Yeah. And then if you kind of look on the bottom here, you see the seven.
April Ajoy
I can barely see it.
Tim Whitaker
Yeah, yeah. So there's that. But hey, according to Trump, it was probably inspired by James Comey. James Comey, by the way, just to make the point. This is such a crazy story that even Republicans are so fed up. I have a video here of a. I think it's a Republican congressman or senator talking about how.
April Ajoy
Yeah.
Tim Whitaker
How crazy it is that we are thinking about prosecuting, by the way, imaginary vandals. We don't know who they are. We have no proof.
April Ajoy
This is Thom Tillis.
Tim Whitaker
All right, Thom Tillis.
Guest/Additional Commentator
Listen to this freaking parallel universe that I just wake up in. You're telling me, even if it proves
Tim Whitaker
to be true, that damaging a lining
Guest/Additional Commentator
in the reflecting pool is something that Piro wants to prosecute to the full extent of the law if it's proven true. And yet they're releasing people who pled guilty to assaulting a police officer.
Tim Whitaker
Yeah, exactly. Now, of course, my answer to Tillis is yes. This is the world that you campaigned and voted for. Like, what did you think was going to happen?
April Ajoy
You woke up in the world that you helped make.
Tim Whitaker
Exactly. Look, I don't know how to say it. Trump incited insurrection on January 6th. If you voted for him, you knew what you were getting. You knew and you either ignored it or you explained it away or, or whatever. But this is the result of what millions of people, including a lot of pundits like us, have been warning about since the beginning with Trump. Of course this was going to happen. Of course he's going to lie. Of course he's going to make stuff up. Of course he's going to expand our government deficit. Trump has ballooned our government debt so high, yet all of a sudden all of his right wing pundits have nothing to say about out of control government spending. It is, it's crazy.
April Ajoy
It is wild that we've had multiple arrests in that they're claiming vandalism for the Reflecting Pool. And I don't believe there's been any proof, none, that, that these people vandalized it.
Tim Whitaker
We just saw, we just saw clear video from Jesse Waters of two people clearly vandalizing their fucking pool. April.
April Ajoy
But it's also interesting, like, where their priorities are, because I don't think there's been a single arrest since the Epstein files have been released. There has no more to be released.
Tim Whitaker
And there's a story that we're tracking. There is a group of, of protesters who are protesting an ICE facility in Prairieland, I believe, Texas. And they, the story is, according to the Guardian, that, that, that, that, that they set off fireworks, they committed some vandalism, and the people who were. And there was also a shooting with one person and a cop, and the cop did get injured, but the people who were not part of the shooting, who weren't even there when the shooting happened, but were part of like the, the demonstration, were arrested and charged on terrorism charges and just received 50 to 100 year long sentences in prison.
April Ajoy
That's, that is ridiculous.
Tim Whitaker
It's, it's crazy. Oh, I got, I got to look this up and tell people.
April Ajoy
Yeah, it was at Prairieland Defend.
Tim Whitaker
Yeah, Prairie Land.
April Ajoy
A detention center. Where's the Prairieland Immigration Detention center in Alvarado, Texas.
Tim Whitaker
So this, this, by the way, I had not done the deep dive all the way, so I didn't want to go too deep into it. But they, the government also used leftist, I think they're called zines. It's pretty much like, like printing materials that you hand out to people. They use that as proof that this, that these people were part of a large antifa terrorist cell to then convict them of these charges. It is, it is absolutely crazy. Elizabeth was sentenced to 50 years in federal prison because, as she's put it, they didn't like my book club. Here's the story. According to the Guardian, last year on the 4th of July, a small group from Dallas Fort Worth held a nighttime noise demonstration setting off fireworks outside their Prairieland Immigration and Customs Enforcement detention facility south of the cities. In solidarity with the detainees, a few protesters broke away and spray painted graffiti on an employee's car in a security post. They slashed the tires in a government van and broke a security camera. The facility's guards order the protesters to disperse and most of them did. When a police officer arrived at the scene drawing his gun, an armed protester shot her rifle, hitting the officer in the shoulder. The officer survived. After a three week trial, a jury found eight of the nine protesters guilty of, quote, providing material support to terrorists, among other crimes. For the Sotos, this material support, including owning a printing press used to print anarchist signs and being part of a leftist book club, the federal government argued that this was all part of it. The couple had already left the scene by the time the guns were drawn. All eight of the defendants sentenced so far have received unusually harsh sentences. 30 to 100 years, essentially life in prison. And look. Oh, zines. Thank you, Ascension guy. That's. I had a feeling I was saying it wrong. Thank you. Look, here's some of the pictures. This is their evidence. This is the evidence that they use to prove that this was. That these people were terrorists. Look, it's a book. It's a book club. Here's another one. Here's the printing press. There you go, guys. Terrorist propaganda right here. How crazy is that?
April Ajoy
The same group of people that screams about freedom of speech.
Tim Whitaker
Yes. And the same DOJ that pardoned every single January six insurrectionists.
April Ajoy
And it's a major story where people actually died.
Tim Whitaker
Exactly.
April Ajoy
I.
Tim Whitaker
Exactly.
April Ajoy
50 years is actually like.
Tim Whitaker
It's a death sentence.
April Ajoy
I don't even know. Surely they'll be able to appeal that.
Tim Whitaker
They're going to try. Yeah, they're going to try. It's crazy with the.
April Ajoy
There needs to be outrage.
Tim Whitaker
We have a few super Chats here. Why don't we read some of those, April? Then we'll do a little plug for tne, then we'll get to our next. Our next story. Do you want to read some of these? Can you see them?
April Ajoy
Yeah. Yes. Jared the weird worker says. Tim says he doesn't care for scary stuff yet covers Christian nationalism. Make it make sense. That is.
Tim Whitaker
That is funny, by the way. That's hilarious. That's good.
April Ajoy
Thank you, Dalton. Hey, gang. Big news. I'm going to be a dad. Both excited and scared. Oh, congratulations.
Tim Whitaker
Congrats. I'm assuming this is your first first. Congratulations. So exciting.
April Ajoy
Joseph Compton. Yes, they gave a no bid contract to Snidely Whiplash. I'll fix your pools. I'll fix your pool. See, that's pretty funny. From Melanie and Lee Petty. Don's pettiness shows through. People are arrested. Fences are put up. Guards are there because Don can't admit a mistake. Not even to himself. Absolutely. From cartoon 49, thoughts on Senator Holly making fun of James Talarico's faith and mocking him because he said God is non binary. I actually haven't seen that.
Tim Whitaker
I've been a little bit surprised. No, I mean, they're all making fun of Tellarico. Yeah, yeah, we'll try to one up.
April Ajoy
Yeah. From Dolph Dogan. Again, he looks like the undertaker's manager, Paul Bearer. I don't understand that reference. Joseph Compton. The sad thing is that Christian nationalists have been planning this for 40 years. They finally got their wishes and this is the end result of all the people to be the head of the movement. Trump. Oh, tell me about it. From Melanie and Lee. Dawn, if you want to know who vandalized the Reflecting Pool, please look in the mirror. Joseph Compton. Again, these charges make a mockery of the justice system. I agree. Thank you all so much for the super chats. Also, as a friendly reminder, if you are watching this stream, which there's quite a few of you.
Tim Whitaker
Yes.

So before we get to our next segment, like I said earlier, the Tim and April show is produced by the New Evangelicals, a nonprofit organization I founded, now run by Melinda Hale. We have a whole other arm of the organization called TNE Action and it's a place to find ways to take action and stand up for your neighbors. There are links to petitions, nonprofits doing amazing work and people on social media that you can follow, all organized by topics so you can easily pick causes you care about and start taking action right away. The most recent one that they did was all about mental health, but they also have ones on reproductive justice, civil rights advocacy and next week TNE Action is releasing an LGBTQIA plus resource which will be amazing and that's all available for free on TNE Connect. That is the community side of our organization. It's totally free. It's a great place to be. You can go to theneweevangelicals.com connect and then get access to it via either the web app store, Google Play. It's going to be amazing. Let's do a quick ad. I think I have it here for TNE about an upcoming tour that they're doing and then we'll get into our next story about the Alpha Male brovangelical Conference from Hell.
Audience/Background Voices
Woo.
Tim Whitaker
Cool. Right back.
April Ajoy
Cuckoo.

Sweet. That's gonna be a great time, so make sure you check it out. Coming to hopefully a city near you. Okay, one more story I wanted to just mention to you all. This past weekend for Father's Day weekend, a bunch of pastors in Washington state held a men's conference to take back their state from the godless left. And in April and I are going to be doing a longer piece on this in the future, like a pre record. So make sure that you're tuned into the podcast or to our YouTube channel and that you're subscribed. But I did want to show you, April, the trailer for this thing and then talk about it and maybe show you a video from one or two of the speakers and kind of get your thoughts. So
Guest/Additional Commentator
cool.
Tim Whitaker
Yeah, by the way, it was called Freedom Rise of the Statesman.
April Ajoy
So cool.
Tim Whitaker
Super cool. Here is the trailer. It's called, it's presented. By the way, if you're listening on podcast, the text says Stronger Man Nation presents Feast your eyes, America. This is not an age where computers and bots will save the West. This is an age where men and women filled with the spirit of Christ
Reporter/News Clip Voice
will save the west through his life, death and resurrection. Tore a hole, ripped wide a breached point. And as the good number one man flowing into the breach, he said, come
Audience/Background Voices
on, church, you don't have a big
Tim Whitaker
devil and a tiny God. You've got a big God and a defeated devil. God's called you to stand and to fight, to not flee to Egypt, but to dwell in the land that he's given you. I'm going to give you the bad news first. No one else is coming. The good news is God specifically chose you to be the one who's already here. We have to look in the mirror and realize we have held the gate open while evil has advanced and we're closing that gate. Rise of the Statesman Father's Day weekend Get A plan. Secure our future. Okay, pause, pause. Guys, any evangelical who sees this name on the screen, where is it?
Narrator/Announcer
Sorry.
Tim Whitaker
David Crowder.
April Ajoy
David Crowder. That is so disrespectful.
Tim Whitaker
So disappointing. I am so disappointed in David Crowder. I'm so disappointed.
April Ajoy
I thought.
Tim Whitaker
Shame on you.
April Ajoy
I thought that at one point he was a little more progressive.
Guest/Additional Commentator
Clearly not.
April Ajoy
Did I make that up?
Tim Whitaker
I think we made it up in our heads. Cause we just assume he's. You know, he has the long beard. His music is a little more edgy for Christian contemporary music. Obviously, he's progressive. No, he's not. Okay, we're almost done with this trailer, but there's more.
April Ajoy
He's not jealous for you anymore. Prado.
Tim Whitaker
All these names are so bad. Tim Barton. Visconti. Nick Fried. I mean, John Lovell. Mark Driscoll. Driscoll disaster. The church is the greatest force for good in the history of the world. You are part of the family of God and the greatest movement that the world has ever seen. The church needs you, and the world needs the church more than ever. Do you think Mark is faking that? That, like, voice?
April Ajoy
I don't know. It kind of sounds like he was just yelling for so long. He was starting to.
Tim Whitaker
So. So, yeah.
April Ajoy
Also, it's just wild that Mark Driscoll still has a platform anywhere.
Tim Whitaker
I know.
April Ajoy
Like, the way people abuses.
Tim Whitaker
He has a bigger platform. 1.5 million followers. Mark Driscoll destroyed several of his own churches because of his own narcissism. Narcissism, ego. 40 of his own elders wrote a letter saying he's not fit to pastor. Mark started a new church. He left a particular. He left like, he left reformed theology behind. Now he's in charismatic spaces. He's rebranded. He's at Turning Point USA Events, and he's saying this stuff. He's also called women penis homes, by the way, in the past. Yeah, it's amazing. It's amazing. So they. They helped.
April Ajoy
I think it's just so funny, too. Sorry to interrupt.
Tim Whitaker
No, you're good.
April Ajoy
But, like, in the. The clip, Russell Johnson, I think that's his name was talking about. We don't have a big devil and a little God. We have a big God and a defeated devil. But then a media is like, but you men have to fight.
Tim Whitaker
I was just gonna bring that up.
April Ajoy
If the devil is defeated.
Tim Whitaker
I was. I was just gonna bring this up. April. Christian nationalism is so full of contradictions and paradoxes. On one hand, the devil's been defeated. On the other hand, no one is Coming, men. It's up to us to save the West. Well, I'm sorry. Yeah, he's the devil.
Reporter/News Clip Voice
Defeated or not.
Tim Whitaker
Yeah, yeah. Like, which is it? So. So they held this event. It's called the Gorge in Washington state. It's a huge, like, concert ground. They have huge festivals there. It holds 25,000 people. They had 5,000 people. Men, by the way. Only men. The FAQ asks, Can my wife come? And they essentially politely say no, and that one of the pastor's wives will have resources for them. So this is it. This is the full. The website is crazy, April. It's still up, by the way. Freedom. I'll show you. I'll show you what it looks like. Just look at this. Look at this. All of this man stuff. Rise of the statesman faq. Can I bring my wife or daughters? This is a men's conference built for the guys, for the women in your life. Pastor Josh's wife has resources coming their way. And a live stream of the main sessions will be available. Livestream details announced@strongermannn nation.com. this was put on by the guy in the middle. His name is Josh McPherson. He's the architect.
April Ajoy
That's why he's in the middle. I wondered why he was in the middle.
Tim Whitaker
Yeah, exactly. Exactly. Right. So I do. And I want to play a clip. This is not from the event because a lot of their content is behind a paywall right now. I just want to give you guys an example of the kind of men that are leading this event. So on the screen is Josh McPherson. On the bottom. On the top is a guy named John Lovell, who also spoke of this event. He's a pastor. Former.
April Ajoy
He was in the clip.
Tim Whitaker
Yeah, he's in the clip. He's a former, I think, Green Beret or something like, you know, in the military.
Reporter/News Clip Voice
He.
Tim Whitaker
He preaches. He's preached before in. In military uniform, with a gun. Preached from the pulpit that way. Here's. Here's his. Take that.
Guest/Additional Commentator
The.
Tim Whitaker
The text reads, God's design for marriage can save yours. This is what he says is God's design for marriage. Here you go.
Josh McPherson
My wife is not in charge in my house. I am. And she is my helper. And I'm not her helper. She doesn't wear the pants. I do now because I adore my wife. I want to model the sacrificial leadership of Jesus. Jesus, recognizing that all authority in heaven and earth had been given to me, stood up, took out his outer robe, tied it around his waist, knelt down, and washed his Disciples, feet.
Tim Whitaker
Okay, let's just pause there for a second. This guy thinks that he's Jesus.
April Ajoy
Why doesn't he try dying, right? Come back saying, if you're gonna go full Jesus, go full Jesus.
Tim Whitaker
Go walk on a lake, bro. Go out in the water and start walking on water.
April Ajoy
This man really raise your bestie.
Tim Whitaker
This guy really said, I'm in charge. My wife is not. I wear the pants. She doesn't. She's my helper. I'm not hers. Jesus says, all authority on heaven, on earth has been given to me. And then he washes his disciples feet as a way to compare him leading his wife sacrificially.
April Ajoy
It just makes me want to gag.
Tim Whitaker
There's more, April. I always have more.
April Ajoy
Great.
Josh McPherson
Of course, that's what the biblical account is. Recognizing he had all authority. He got down and washed feet. I am in authority over my wife. It's not a 50. 50. The buck stops with me. I am the head. Because of that, I'm going to use my leadership to take wonder care of my wife. Boys, my sons, this is our woman. We're going to take care of her. She doesn't open doors. We open.
Tim Whitaker
You know what this is? It's so dehumanizing. Right? This poor helpless woman who's not even a full human needs us men to provide and take care of her. She can't even open doors. It's on us, right?
Guest/Additional Commentator
The.
Tim Whitaker
The real, you know, the real leaders of the world to protect this poor, dumb, innocent woman who wouldn't even know how to tie her own shoes if we weren't around. That's what he sounds like.
April Ajoy
Yeah. Why does it go to opening up doors? I feel like these men are always like, oh, I would die for my wife. But like, would you go to therapy for her?
Tim Whitaker
Right, Right, right. Would you let her lead?
April Ajoy
There's a lot of steps.
Tim Whitaker
So you'll die for your wife, but she can't lead anything because you're the head God.
April Ajoy
I would. I could not. I could not marry any man like this. I dated someone one time who was very like, you will never open a single door. And was. Was very much the like, I will protect you. And it drove me absolutely insane. I was like, stop. I am capable of opening my own damn door.
Tim Whitaker
Look, Sarah will tell you this. Even when we were both thinking like conservative evangelicalism, I hated this way of thinking. One of the things that I told Sarah when we first started dating was like, I never want to hear the word submit come out of my mouth or your mouth. That Is gross because you're taught that, like, men, women submit to your husbands. I'm like, that is. I hate that language. I've always hated this. I've always hated this way of thinking. I think it's so gross. And now that I deconstructed, it's even more gross to me. But we're not done. We're halfway through this clip. So he has more to say.
April Ajoy
Oh, God.
Tim Whitaker
Yeah. He has more to say, hey, guys, this is a strong alpha male saving the west, okay? He has very important things to say
Josh McPherson
to us for our job. My job as a man is to make sure my life is harder than hers.
Reporter/News Clip Voice
That's good.
Josh McPherson
I want my life harder than hers.
Sponsor/Ad Voice
Yes.
Josh McPherson
I make money. I'm going to spend more on her than me. I'm going to.
Tim Whitaker
What does that mean, John? How about neither of your life is that hard? How. Why does life have to be harder? Why? Why? Why?
April Ajoy
I do feel like a lot of these, like, marriage, when they start talking about marriage and stuff, they're always discussing how hard marriage is, but you have to push through because it's what God wants and stuff. I'm like. I feel like if you're in a healthy relationship, marriage doesn't have to be hard.
Tim Whitaker
I don't. I don't. I'm not sure about you, April, but from what I can tell, I'm sure it's the same. Me and Sarah are gonna hit 10 years in July. We have a great marriage. Like, we. Our marriage. We've. Of course, we've had moments like any humans have had. We've had moments we had to work through. But if someone asked me, has your marriage been easy or hard without even hesitating, I would say, oh, it's been really easy. It's been. Over the 10 years, it's been a really easy marriage and great marriage. Yeah, it has not been hard.
April Ajoy
Beecher and I, we had some rough moments when they came out, and we had to deconstruct and, like, all of these things, but, like, our marriage was always, like, not absolutely. I don't know. We just celebrated 12 years on Monday, and it. I love our marriage. It's not hard. It's many things, but I would say our marriage is not hard exactly what makes life hard. There are other things that make life hard. Marriage is not one of them.
Tim Whitaker
Christian nationalism, not being able to afford health care, you know, that kind of stuff. You know, so, okay, we'll keep going.
Josh McPherson
Lift her up. I'm gonna serve her. I'm built stronger so that I Can use my strength for my bride. I'm gonna exalt her. I'm gonna do something better than 50 equal. I'm going to lift her up. I'm going to treat her not as an equal. I'm going to treat her as more important. And I'm going to steer our marriage as well. I'm going to set the culture for our home.
Tim Whitaker
And none of this makes sense because a minute ago he was saying how she's not in charge. So again, she's not that important.
April Ajoy
She's his helper.
Tim Whitaker
Right.
April Ajoy
He's not her helper.
Tim Whitaker
And, and she has, you know, this is our. His words were boys. This is our woman. This is our woman.
Guest/Additional Commentator
Yeah.
Tim Whitaker
She's not going to open a door. So again, like, he just thinks that. That he is. That she's so weak and, and, and feeble. And then he says, well, I'm going to elevate her. No, you're not. You're dehumanizing her, dude. Dehumanizing. By the way, this rhetoric. When people get into a marriage, mainly women get into a marriage with a man like this who's not healthy or not, you know, whatever, and just abusive. Then they're trapped because then the line is, we'll submit to your husbands. Right. Oh, don't leave your marriage. Don't be a Jezebel. Don't break up your marriage. Just submit to your husband. Love him well, give him whatever he wants and he will treat you right. It's crazy.
April Ajoy
Well, he's honestly talking about her like an object. Like he's objectifying her. Like property.
Tim Whitaker
Totally like property. Which, honestly is a biblical marriage. I guess you can't. You know, that's the ancient world. Women were seen as property. A man took a woman.
April Ajoy
So a man took a few women.
Tim Whitaker
Yeah, her.
Josh McPherson
To give me her valuable insight. And sometimes we're going to disagree and I'm going to go with what she thinks, and sometimes I'm going to go with what I think, but I'm going to use her as my helper, as my second self.
Narrator/Announcer
Yeah.
Josh McPherson
On mission for the Lord. Because I desperately, desperately need the counsel of my wife. And I honor her.
Tim Whitaker
I'm going to use her.
April Ajoy
I don't know. This second half feels very different from the first half.
Tim Whitaker
Well, they have to do this. This is classic, like, nice guy patriarchy. Right. They're going to. Ultimately, this dude's in charge of his. Of his life and his wife and his kids. If they have a disagreement and he wants to do something, there is no argument. You're going to follow me, honey, right? You are the. I'm the head. You are my helper. But he obviously knows he has to dress this up in a way that sounds palpable to other women and to even young men. And so he has to make it seem like, no, it's actually better for the woman. It actually helps women by devaluing them to be this underneath our authority kind of object who can. Who we can use for our benefit. And here's how. Here's how you say that.
April Ajoy
I think it actually can go the other way, too. Maybe not him, necessarily, but I've seen other people that push complementarianism, which is the belief that, you know, they're equal, but their roles are different, man and wife. And the wife is submissive and has to obey. But then when they actually describe their marriage, they're describing an egalitarian marriage where they can have conversations and they have disagreements and they come to a decision together, but they push complementarianism because that's what the SBC tells them to do or what their church tells them to do, but they don't actually live that way. So they're. But they'll always say things. Now, my husband is the head. I always submit to him, but they still value me and my. Like, they're. They're pushing a. Like, the belief that they're not even following, but they're trying to convince their followers that they are.
Tim Whitaker
I know people like that. They will tell me that they are complementarian. Right.
Guest/Additional Commentator
That they.
Tim Whitaker
That the husband's the head. I watched their marriage, and I'm like, you guys live a pretty egalitarian marriage, which is great. I'm glad. I'm glad you do that. You know?
April Ajoy
But, yeah, I'm even like, Erica Kirk, Ali Bestuckey, Megan Basham, all three of these, Riley Gaines. These are all women that are making very good money and have full careers themselves, but push that they submit to their husbands.
Guest/Additional Commentator
Yep.
April Ajoy
Do we really think that wives should stay home?
Tim Whitaker
Do we really think that Ali Stuckey, if her husband was like, hey, babe, as the man of the house, I'm telling you to stop all of your public content. I want you home. We have plenty of money. You've done your job. Stop. Do you think she'd be like, okay, honey, no problem, right? No, no, of course not. Of course not.
April Ajoy
But it's so damaging, though, because the people that listen to them think, oh, if I want to be a godly wife and a godly mom, I need to stay home and raise these kids. Even if it means we go into financial ruin.
Tim Whitaker
Exactly.
April Ajoy
Because we're putting all the pressure on the husband.
Tim Whitaker
Exactly.
April Ajoy
Like. But they're not following it. It's so infuriating.
Tim Whitaker
We covered the women's conference from Turning Point a few weeks ago, and this Isabella Brown was told women in that young women to have more kids than you can afford. Like, this is just the worst advice ever coming from people who are making a lot of money, who can afford whatever they want. Ali Stuckey.
April Ajoy
Yeah.
Tim Whitaker
The nanny. Erica Kirk. They can afford whatever they want. They don't have to worry about their finances. They are rich and they have a public platform, millions of followers. They have their career. They are boss babes. April. They are living their best life having a flourishing career in media. And they're telling women the best thing you can do is stay home and clean and raise the kids. Because that's the ultimate goal of a woman, is to be a mother.
Guest/Additional Commentator
Mm.
Tim Whitaker

I
My name is Tom. I live in the San Francisco Bay Area, and I donate to the New Evangelicals. The Pentecostal Christian fundamentalism of my childhood insisted that I could not be both gay and Christian for over a year and a half. I participated in an ex gay live in program that tried to rid me of my gayness. I left the group as a gay man and rejected my Christianity. But in time I could no more stop being Christian than I could stop being gay. The Jesus heart drew me back to Christian story and symbol. Embarrassingly, not until my mid-40s did the blatant obviousness of it all speak to my heart as if from a burning bush. I get to decide if I'm a follower of Jesus. No one else gets to decide that for me. That realization was my true born again experience. The new Evangelicals welcomes all seekers and they welcome questions. The fundamentalist idolatry of right belief and its arrogant adherence to a creed frozen in time eclipse the true Christian message. I support the new evangelicals because they understand that.

Tim Whitaker
Oh, this is a good one. And it has nothing to do with sex. Good news everyone.
April Ajoy
Yeah, we need a. We need a change of pace. This showed up on my Instagram reel feed organically, and I got a good chuckle out of this one.
Tim Whitaker
Here we go. We'll play the whole thing in its entirety so you get the whole context and we'll go from there.
Audience/Background Voices
We're not taking the mark of the beast, and if you don't take the mark of the beast, you can't buy or sell. I found this plant, this guy right here, and as it was growing I was like, I'm not gonna cut that or mow that. I think it's something. So yesterday I took a picture of it, I put it into Google, and I was like, what is this plant? That's a peanut plant. I. I never eat peanuts in my yard. I hardly ever eat peanuts, and I sure as heck didn't plant one. So I also Googled, well, how would a peanut plant end up in my yard if I didn't plant it? And its response was, well, the most common occurrence is when a bird flies over your yard, they poop it out. So then it got me thinking, so I was like, birds of the heaven. And then I was like, you know what? We're gonna be just fine not taking the mark of the beast. And if you don't take the mark of the beast, you can't buy or sell. That means we can't buy food, but we're gonna be fine. Cause God's sending birds over my yard to poop seeds, and I'm gonna grow peanuts. And that was one bird. Can you imagine what the Lord could do? He could send a whole flock, send hundreds of birds dropping seeds for us. We're not taking the mark because we'll be just fine. Okay, ciao.
Tim Whitaker
Why do we do this?
April Ajoy
I kind of love her. I love that her mind didn't go to. Because I honestly, when I was watching this, I was like, this is going to turn into like a maha. That's, you know, like farming, like, grow your own food. Which would make. Which is still a weird stretch.
Tim Whitaker
Mark of the beast. Self sustainability, the tribulation.
April Ajoy
I was like, I can make that connection. But no, no, she didn't go to God's message was we should just plant our own food. Hers was that God is going to send birds. No, to poop out the food that will be planted into your yard.
Tim Whitaker
10 out of 10 for creativity. I mean that. You can't write that kind of story. That.
Sponsor/Ad Voice
That's.
Tim Whitaker
She's creative, right? Yeah, because you're right. I would think the logical jump would be a peanut plant. I should save the seeds for the mark of the beast. We'll plant our own gardens, etc. No, God is going to magically send hordes of birds to take a dump all over your yard to plant all kinds of seeds in exchange for you not taking the mark of the beast. That will one day happen at any moment suddenly.
April Ajoy
You know, what if we're, like, inferring our own messaging from God? What if what God actually meant. I feel like you could argue that a bird could be a beast of sorts, a flying beast, maybe the peanut tree Itself was the mark of the beast.
Tim Whitaker
Oh, my God.
April Ajoy
Said flying beast. She shouldn't eat it because that's the mark.
Tim Whitaker
Because what if you take the mark, right? And you have. Yeah, yeah.
April Ajoy
I, I, There's. Okay. There was something kind of endearing about her, and maybe that's just me, but she just seems so genuinely excited about this thought she did. Look, she definitely thought, we're going to be fine, y'.
Audience/Background Voices
All.
April Ajoy
God send in birds to poop.
Tim Whitaker
I think it's just the delusion that gets me. Like, you. And again, as someone. April, you and I were there. We were both in this world. We believe this stuff. So we're not mocking from above. We're mocking really from below. Like, we were here. Okay.
April Ajoy
We were there.
Tim Whitaker
Yeah. Like, I mean, I laugh at myself really, when I see things like this because I believe that I was like, okay, what could the mark of the beast be? Will it be a barcode? Will it be this? Will it be that? And I thought about this stuff, like, what happens if the rapture happens? I'm left behind, or all these things. But being out of it now for so long, it's like, wow, that's crazy.
April Ajoy
Like, yeah.
Tim Whitaker
And this person believes this. Like, this is not just a fun thought. She thought it through and was like, oh, my God, that's how we're gonna survive. Let me make a video about this to encourage other believers not to be worried about not taking the mark because God will send birds to poop out seeds.
April Ajoy
Also, she's clearly a mid trib or
Tim Whitaker
a post tribber doll for sure.
April Ajoy
And listen, I was a pre tribber, so I would have had major issues with this video. Only because she's assuming we're going to be here for the tribulation. I'm like, listen, God's sucking me up. I'm not, I'm not here for that crap.
Tim Whitaker
Hopefully, hopefully, hopefully he does. Yeah.
April Ajoy
No, I literally wouldn't date someone if they were mid trib or post trip.
Tim Whitaker
So maybe we don't know what I'm talking about.
Narrator/Announcer
Thank you.
Tim Whitaker
Yes, please interpret.
April Ajoy
So there's the Rapture, right? And that is the belief that Jesus comes back to the air, trumpet sounds, and all the Christians get sucked up and get.
Audience/Background Voices
Yeah.
April Ajoy
Go to heaven on a get out of death free card. We don't die. We just go straight to heaven. We leave our clothes behind. That's big in the left behind canon.
Tim Whitaker
Yep.
April Ajoy
The tribulation then happens. And the tribulation is a period of seven years. And during the tribulation is the rise of the Antichrist, where the mark of the beast comes into play and you have to get the mark of the beast in order to buy or sell.
Tim Whitaker
Things fall apart, wars everywhere.
April Ajoy
And if you don't get it, you get your head chopped off.
Tim Whitaker
That's right.
April Ajoy
Or die in some way. Now. So pre Trib rapture means that the rapture happens before the tribulation starts.
Tim Whitaker
Pre tribulation.
April Ajoy
There are some Christians that believe in a mid Trib, meaning that God the Rapture happens at the three and a half year point, which is the peaceful period, which I guess wouldn't be terrible because the bad stuff happens in the last three and a half years. And then post Trib is the belief that Christians are here for the entire great tribulation. And then the rapture happens at the end.
Tim Whitaker
Think of like it's like a Terminator doomsday end of the world scenario, you know, where it's just like everything is. You, you just think about like a Mad Max hellscape kind of vibe, but with more fire. And I, you. You're right, April, based on what she said, she's definitely a midter, probably post because she's really depending on these birds to come through for her when the mark is, you know, is mandated among the entire world. So. Which by the way, the term is called dispensationalism. And people who believe this believe that we are at the end of the sixth dispensation and entering into the seventh, which is the tribulation. So they're waiting for any moment this to happen. Like this is not for them in 10 years. They are expecting at any second right now this could all, all start. Either we get sucked up, either tribulation starts. So they're waiting. They are waiting for this to happen. They're awaiting.
April Ajoy
Yeah. And they look for signs always. They infer their own meaning into things clearly.
Tim Whitaker
As you can see, when the beginning of the Iran war started, we had people like Louis. Was it Louis Gigago? We had a few of these big pastors talk about, is this the war to end all wars? Is this the end of time? Is the Antichrist gonna rise? They do this every time, guys. In the 80s it was all about Russia. Is Russia Gog and Magog like it is? You know, like, like they talk about in the Old Testament. They're always speculating on current events and tying it back into the end of the world. Yeah, that's a great comment.
April Ajoy
I.
Tim Whitaker
From Prespass. I was post Trib. I was also an idiot.
April Ajoy
Listen, we had concerns for like the mental well being for people that were post trip. Like, you want to believe that you're going to be here for this?
Tim Whitaker
Like, are you okay, so funny.
April Ajoy
I want to be clear. I don't believe in the Rapture anymore because I learned about John Nelson Darby, who is credited for kind of inventing that he invented dispensationalism in the 1830s
Tim Whitaker
after he fell off his horse and hit his head, by the way. So yeah, yeah, look him up. It's true. Anyway, anywho, anywho, friends, thanks so much for being here for another episode episode of the Tim and April Show. Like we said earlier, we love doing this. Audience/Background Voices

April Ajoy
May you get a bird pooping. Great things to be planted in your yards.
Tim Whitaker
I don't wish that on people.
April Ajoy
If you want it.
Tim Whitaker
Well, yeah, if you want it.
April Ajoy
If you want that.
Tim Whitaker
I'm Tim Whitaker.
April Ajoy
And I'm April. Ahoy, Tata. Bye. Bye.
Podcast Summary: The Tim & April Show – Episode 124: “Everything Trump Touches Turns to Sh*t”
Date: June 26, 2026
Hosts: Tim Whitaker & April Ajoy
Produced by: The New Evangelicals
In this episode, Tim and April dissect the bizarre saga of the Washington D.C. Reflecting Pool mismanagement under Donald Trump, using it as a lens to examine wasteful politics, cronyism, Christian nationalism, and the cyclical nature of scapegoating and propaganda in American political and religious life. The hosts blend sharp critique with comedic observations, and later pivot to scrutinize the performative masculinity and patriarchal norms of a recent Christian men’s conference, closing with their recurring “Weird Christian Sh*t” segment.
“Everything he touches has to turn to gold, even though it’s clearly turning green. And so he’s now blaming vandalism and saying…Democrats are coming in and purposely…like, people were putting algae in…” (11:46 – April)
“You would think all someone had to do was go to the pool, film the long gash, and there’s your evidence. And Trump has of course, not provided any because it doesn’t exist.” (14:12 – Tim)
“As someone who’s laid down epoxy…you don’t just go in, even if it hasn’t fully adhered…with a knife and just cut it like it’s a piece of paper…” (19:03 – Tim)
“This whole situation is a perfect example of what Christian nationalism does…They sell you this myth that things are so horrific right now…But the reality is…they make everything worse.” (24:09 – Tim)
Even GOP Senator Thom Tillis mocks the focus on prosecuting alleged pool vandals while downplaying greater threats (Jan 6th insurrectionists).
“This is the world that you campaigned and voted for. What did you think was going to happen?” (30:25 – Tim)
In stark contrast, leftist activists protesting an ICE center are given 30–100 year sentences for assumed “terrorism” charges.
“These charges make a mockery of the justice system. I agree.” (36:32 – April, quoting superchat)
“Any evangelical who sees this name on the screen…David Crowder…So disappointing. Shame on you.” (43:13 – Tim)
“My wife is not in charge in my house. I am. And she is my helper.” (47:41 – Josh McPherson)
“Why does life have to be harder? Why?” (51:05 – Tim) “This man really said, I’m in charge…She’s not in charge; she’s my helper, I’m not hers.” (48:21 – April)
“I never want to hear the word submit come out of my mouth or your mouth. That is gross.” (50:19 – Tim)
“Do we really think that Ali Stuckey, if her husband was like…‘stop all of your public content’…she’d be like, ‘okay, honey’? No, of course not.” (56:34 – Tim)
“God is going to send birds…to poop out the food that will be planted into your yard.” (64:08 – April)
“As someone…we were both in this world…we’re not mocking from above, we’re mocking really from below.” (65:20 – Tim)
On Trump’s Habitual Deflecting:
“Trump refuses to accept responsibility, instead blaming sabotage, vandalism, and specifically Democrats…Everything he touches has to turn to gold, even though it’s clearly turning green.” (11:11 – April)
On Bizarre Media ‘Evidence’:
“What are they doing with their hands in the pool? Are they cutting the lining? Are they peeling off the paint? We don’t know.” (18:09 – Jesse Waters, Fox)
On Crony Contracts:
“This man is a Trump donor and neighbor at Mar-a-Lago…Yet this dude got a $1 million, no bid contract.” (21:00 – Tim)
Metaphor for Christian Nationalism:
“They hire all this fraudulent crony…backdoor deals…and we waste money…make it even worse than what it was before…If that is not what Christian nationalism does…” (24:09 – Tim)
On Patriarchal Marriage Rhetoric:
“My wife is not in charge in my house. I am. And she is my helper. And I’m not her helper…” (47:41 – Josh McPherson, conference speaker)
“Would you die for your wife, but you won’t go to therapy for her?” (49:31 – April)
On Contradictions:
“Christian nationalism is so full of contradictions and paradoxes. On one hand, the devil’s been defeated. On the other hand, no one is coming, men. It’s up to us to save the West…” (45:35 – Tim)
On Dispensationalist End-Times Anxiety:
“What could the mark of the beast be? Will it be a barcode? …I thought about this stuff…But being out of it now for so long, it’s like, wow, that’s crazy.” (65:52 – Tim)
The hosts maintain their characteristic mix of warm sarcasm, engaged critique, and empathy for listeners questioning their religious or political roots. The language is rooted in contemporary progressive Christianity, blending humor, pop-culture metaphors, and theological analysis.
