Thank you very much. Enjoy yourself.
Welcome, everybody. Welcome, welcome. Welcome to the Tonight Show.
This is it.
Welcome. Well, guys, I'm excited about this. Memorial Day weekend is here. Finally.
This is this weekend.
And get this, a record breaking 45 million people are expected to drive this weekend. Yeah. I'm not saying traffic's bad, but it's now easier to travel through the Strait of Hormuz. Do you know what I'm saying? Well, some big news from Washington. A federal judge has ordered President Trump's White House staff to preserve all presidential records, including text messages. J.D. vance was like, I promise the first time someone texts me, I will save it. Trump heard that and was like, this is a witch hunt. No one made George Washington save his text messages. No, that didn't never happen. No one did it to the great Hannibal Lecter.
Maluma
Nobody did it.
Jimmy Fallon
Meanwhile, I saw the Federal Arts Commission just approve design plans for Trump's 250 foot triumphal arch. Yeah, Trump's arch is gonna be incredible. It's shaped like this, just like his approval rating. It's amazing. It's amazing.
Ella Bright
Boink.
Jimmy Fallon
Do you guys see this? I read that since taking office, Trump has launched 622 products. Yeah. In 16 months, he went from President Trump to President Tamu. Well, guys, the big story this week is that Trump made a deal with the IRS that says that they can't audit him ever again. It's so unprecedented that it's worth explaining further. In Trump's own words, Trump settled his lawsuit with the IRS and got them to agree never to audit him. In fact, his whole family is protected. Or as he put it, families Protector. It all. It all started when Trump sued the IRS for leaking his old tax returns and wanted to see them strongly reprimanded. Or as he put it, strongly rep. Really reprimanded. Trump's team made the deal, and then they announced there was no bias. Or as Trump put it. And then they announced there was no bias.
No.
So now Trump won't face investigations about his taxes or his moves in the stock market, or as he calls it, stock rocket. You saw that, right? The deal could block Trump from criminal investigations. So for him, it's pivotal. Or as he put it, pivotable. The whole thing could hurt Trump's approval rating, according to some of the latest data. Or as Trump calls it, some of the lattice. Just the data that has been. People were already upset about the ballroom and reflecting pool. Yeah, a lot of renovations are, as he puts it, a lot of renovations. If you look at some of it, overall, giving a leader this much immunity feels like something Saudi Arabia and Russia would do. Or as Trump put it, Saudi Arabia and Russia will repeat. That clears it up. Hey, people are talking about this. SpaceX is going public and it could make Elon Musk the world's first trillionaire. You can tell Jeff Bezos is jealous because he just added two more feet to his rocket. Well, guys, Robert De Niro is our guest tonight, and it's my man legend. I love him. I'm always. I'm always quoting his most famous line. You talking to me? Wait, wait, wait, wait.
Unknown Comedic Sidekick
That's De Niro's most famous line? I thought it was the one where someone takes a hike to the ocean.
Jimmy Fallon
No, that's you walking the sea. This is you talking to me. Oh, okay.
Unknown Comedic Sidekick
Right, right. Wait, wait, wait, wait, wait. Is it the one where someone listens to the guy from the Red Hot Chili Peppers?
Jimmy Fallon
No, that's you rocking the flea. This is you talking to me.
Unknown Comedic Sidekick
Oh, right, right, right.
Jimmy Fallon
Wait.
Unknown Comedic Sidekick
Is it the one where someone reseals a bathtub pro bono?
Jimmy Fallon
No, that's you caulking for free. This is you talking to me. Okay.
Unknown Comedic Sidekick
Is it the one where someone chokes on some cheese?
Jimmy Fallon
No, that's you hocking up Brie.
Unknown Comedic Sidekick
The one where someone stands in front of a giant oak.
Jimmy Fallon
No, that's you blocking a tree.
Unknown Comedic Sidekick
When someone flaps their wings and goes, buzz, buzz, buzz.
Jimmy Fallon
No, that's you mocking a bee.
Unknown Comedic Sidekick
Is it when someone watch in Marrakesh.
Jimmy Fallon
That's Moroccan tv.
Unknown Comedic Sidekick
When someone sits down and tunes into my favorite show of all time.
Jimmy Fallon
That's you watching Blue E. When.
Unknown Comedic Sidekick
When someone panic buys a bunch of Charmin during the pandemic.
Jimmy Fallon
That's you stalking T.P.
Unknown Comedic Sidekick
oh, wait, wait, wait. I know which quote you mean. It's the super famous one. Yes, I know it. Can I say it?
Jimmy Fallon
I can't wait. Go ahead.
Unknown Comedic Sidekick
I've got nipples. Greg, can you milk me?
Jimmy Fallon
Yeah, that's it. That's the one.
That's also great. Not bad.
That's not bad. That's pretty good. Not bad. Well, everyone, listen to this. I read that Schlitz Beer is being discontinued after 177 years. Man, the news for Spirit Airlines pilots just keeps getting worse and worse. You guys see this A sinkhole recently opened up on the Runway at LaGuardia Airport, causing tons of cancellations and delays. A sinkhole? Yeah. In response, LaGuardia put out a message to reassure travelers. Take a look at LaGuardia Airport.
Belmont Camelli
Your safety is our top priority.
Jimmy Fallon
We fixed the sinkhole and look forward to getting you to your destination. That's good. Oh, JFK also released a video. Check this out. At jfk, we just did a full inspection of our Runway stability.
Maluma
We're up to code and on time. Come fly with us.
Jimmy Fallon
Okay. Oh, also, Newark just put out a message too. Watch this.
You only have one sinkhole. Bitch. Our whole airport is a sinkhole. We got more holes in a golf course. We got graters, cracks, and oh, yeah, keep on. By the way, spirit didn't go out of business. He just got into one of our homes. Newark
Intense, right? And finally, I heard that some Hooters locations are working to rebrand themselves as kid friendly restaurants. I don't know, hearing someone say I'm in the ball pit at Hooters just doesn't sound right.
We have a great show. Give it up for the roost, everybody.
Unknown Comedic Sidekick
White dogs on my doorstep. Come around, go around. Like the competition up on Public Vortex. So it took him out like reinforcement.
Jimmy Fallon
What a show we have for you tonight.
He is an Oscar winning acting legend and she is an Oscar and Emmy nominated producer. Together they are the co founders of the Tribeca festival which runs from June 3rd to the 14th.
Robert De Niro and Jane Rosendahl are here tonight.
The best. He is a 50 time platinum selling global music superstar. His new album local Por Bober is out now. Maluma is joining us. I love Maluma. And they star in the very popular show off campus which is streaming now on Prime Video. Ella Bright and Belmont Camelli are here tonight.
Big show, hot show, guys.
There's so much going on in the news right now. It can be tough to keep up. So to save you some time, I'm gonna tell you everything you need to know in 90 seconds. It's time for tonight's takeaway. Here we go. Take away, take away, take away. Tonight's topic is President Trump. Here we go. President Trump said that he'd hold off on attacking Iran because negotiations to end the war are getting more serious. This Trump official said we're hoping for the best. While this Trump official said, bro, I freaking love you, man. You love me? Let's do karaoke. People are saying that Trump's ballroom and reflecting pool renovations are a distraction from the Iran war. But President Trump said no. The renovations and the war are both a distraction from the Epstein files. Trump's Trump says Iran must suspend their nuclear program for 20 years. He also said, I don't care. By then, it will be President Spencer Pratt's problem. President Trump just made the IRS agree not to audit him, his businesses or his family. Don Jr. Said, thanks, Dad. Ivanka said, thanks, dad. And Eric said, I love audit. It's the most beautiful season when the leaves change colors and I do Halloween. Now let's take a moment to focus on Vice President Vance. Why? Great point, J.D. back to Trump. Trump has opened a $1.8 billion fund to pay out his most loyal supporters, including the January 6th rioters. It'd be the first time we see Viking cat reimbursement on the government's balance sheet. In a bit of a non Trump news, the Mandalorian and Grogu comes out today. Here's a quick teaser.
Robert De Niro
The universe's most famous baby with an unusual color overcoming his most difficult challenge yet. It's President Trump climbing up stairs.
Jimmy Fallon
President Trump's approval rating has hit a new low of 31%. Trump saw the numbers and said, is it because. And America said yes. And finally, here's President Trump saying something nice about Stephen Colbert. Stephen Colbert is a true American hero and I will vote for him to be the next president of the United States. That's been this week's takeaway.
Stick around. We'll be right back with Robert De Niro. Come on back.
Unknown Comedic Sidekick
£21, the legendary hot.
Jimmy Fallon
Our first guest tonight is a two time Oscar winner and an acting legend. He's also the co founder of the Tribeca festival which runs from June 3rd to the 14th. Everyone please welcome Robert De Niro.
I love you. It's Robert De Niro.
Oh my gosh, they love you. Welcome back. You look great. It's always good to see you. I appreciate you coming on. I have a lot to talk to you about. First off, you met the Pope.
Robert De Niro
Yes.
Jimmy Fallon
Let's talk about this. You met Pope Leo. What's it like when you meet the Pope? Are you nervous meeting the Pope? What do you talk about?
Robert De Niro
Well, I liked him a lot. Just personally. He was from Chicago. He's an American, he's a city guy. And I liked him and we had a nice talk about the situation today in the world, the country. So he was great.
Jimmy Fallon
And you went over there with Nobu?
Robert De Niro
Yes, with Chef Nobu and my other
Jimmy Fallon
partner, the mayor, Nobu Matsuhitsa right there. Chef Nobu, one of the greatest chefs in sushi in the world. But you got involved with Nobu and created all those restaurants how many years ago? 31.
Robert De Niro
30. 31 years, I think.
Jimmy Fallon
Oh, my God. How did you. How'd you end up hooking up with Nobu and working with him?
Robert De Niro
I just went to Matsuhisa in la. Roland Joffe, the British director.
Jimmy Fallon
Yeah.
Robert De Niro
Took me to this. You got to go to this place with me. And I went, and I. After I had a few things to eat, I said, if you ever want to open a restaurant in New York, let me know. And we had opened the Tribeca Grill by that point. And so it took a couple of years, but we opened one in New York in Tribeca, and that was it.
Jimmy Fallon
Yeah. So you opened one in Tribeca, but now there's 50 restaurants around the world?
Robert De Niro
Yes.
Ella Bright
Wow.
Jimmy Fallon
And hotels, and.
Robert De Niro
Yes. Not 50 hotel. But it's growing. Yeah.
Jimmy Fallon
Yes, it's growing. But how do you get into this? You don't know anything about this?
Robert De Niro
No, I just reopened the restaurant in the Grill, and I thought, well, look, there's not a Japanese restaurant that I know of like this at all. Anywhere that I've been definitely New York. So I said, I know it'll work in New York. It was that simple.
Jimmy Fallon
I think you're brilliant. I think it's genius that you're doing this stuff. How's that? There's a new place you're opening in Barbuda. Is that happening?
Robert De Niro
Yes. That's a Nobu Beach Inn, and we have a Nobu restaurant.
Jimmy Fallon
It's paradise. It is like. It's like Fantasy Island. I don't even know if there's. There's humans there. It's just the most beautiful place. I saw that. I go, of course Robert De Niro's doing this. You're the best. And Chef Nobu, I brought my kids, who they're like 11 years old, and they wanted to go to Nobu. It was a big deal. And I go, okay. I go, we're gonna go to Nobu. They love sushi. And I go, but do you know Nobu's last name? You know? And my daughter looks at me, she's thinking about it, and she goes, robert De Niro? Yeah. Chef Nobu. Roberto. She must have heard Bus talking about you or something. Yeah. A few weeks ago, your trailer for Focker In Law came out. Congratulations. This is what I'm talking about. This is your fourth. This is the fourth movie in the Meet the Parents franchise. It comes out Thanksgiving. It's you, Ben Stiller Ariana Grande. What can we say about this one?
Robert De Niro
Well, it was a terrific script. John Hamburg, who wrote it and was involved and wrote the other Falcon movies, Meet the Paris, he directed it, did a great job and it's very funny.
Jimmy Fallon
Ariana's funny.
Robert De Niro
She's great.
Jimmy Fallon
Did you ever think you were going to do comedy when you acted in your career?
Robert De Niro
No, I didn't know.
Jimmy Fallon
You didn't have a plan? No, no. Yeah. By the way, I watched the documentary, Mr. Scorsese. Yeah. It was on Apple TV. Watch this documentary if you could see it. It's unbelievable. It's four parts. It's great. I love Martin Scorsese more than I ever loved him, but I, more than I have loved you because you were so good and so cool in this documentary. You probably didn't watch it because you're in it.
Robert De Niro
No, I did. I went. I went to. Oh, you did Meghan Senna. I went to that.
Jimmy Fallon
Oh, you saw it?
Robert De Niro
Yeah. No, it was good.
Jimmy Fallon
It was terrific. You're the best. You're really great in it. Yeah, but one of the things is like, there's one part where Scorsese is, I think, in the hospital and you go in and you go, we gotta do this movie, Raging Bull, and it's one of the greatest movies ever. But then the thing that I thought was genius about you, but I don't even know if this is what I took away from it or if it's real or fake. But there's one scene where you're talking with Joe Pesci and you're trying to get him to react to you and you're fixing the TV or something and you go, yeah, you know my wife or something. And he goes, yeah, yeah, yeah. And you go, yeah, I heard some things. And he goes, yeah, yeah, yeah, you heard some things. What do you mean? And you go, I heard things. And you go, yeah. What do you mean you heard things? He goes, I heard some things. Yeah, Things like. And you go, I heard things. He goes, yeah, Things like.
What are you talking about?
And you get him so pumped up. Was that an acting. Was that a choice?
Robert De Niro
Yeah, I mean, we worked on. We. The scene. You had the scene, you had the structure of the scene, the dialogue pretty much set, but then you'd go off or ad lib here and there. Of course, you know, it's the greatest.
Jimmy Fallon
I love it. By the way, are you excited? But the Knicks are in the playoffs. You're a New Yorker. You're not.
Robert De Niro
I'm a New Yorker.
Jimmy Fallon
You are a New Yorker all the way.
Robert De Niro
I, I, I'm, I'm. Look, if I have to stand behind the Knicks, I will, but I'm not into sports that much.
Jimmy Fallon
No, not in a sports.
Robert De Niro
But I heard it was a great game and I am sorry I missed it. I love seeing a great game, even if I'm not that interested in the sport. Yeah, I played basketball as a kid.
Jimmy Fallon
Yeah, you also played basketball as an adult. Here's you playing with Al Pacino. Bud, what's going on there? You're not even covering him. He's just kind of left it wide open. How would you describe Al as a player?
Robert De Niro
I thought he was pretty good. Yeah, I can't remember, but yeah.
Jimmy Fallon
When you guys were, did you guys talk to each other for movie roles? When you, when you were together, you did four movies together, were you like, hey, Al, I would do this?
Robert De Niro
Well, we did, we talked about movies over the years. Give, give each other advice about things. And I, and I remember talking to him about doing Scarface because.
Jimmy Fallon
And
Robert De Niro
I said, if you don't do it, I'm going to do it. They offer it to me.
Jimmy Fallon
That's funny.
Robert De Niro
I told him to work with the director De Palma and so on. Yeah.
Jimmy Fallon
When you did Taxi Driver, when you're doing that, did that change your career or was that, was it a hit when it came out?
Robert De Niro
I don't really know if it was.
Jimmy Fallon
I caught onto it late in life because I was a fan of yours, I think. I mean, I watched every single one of your movies that I could watch. But I think it was like, I think Goodfellas time, where I got into that and this boy's life and banging the drum slowly. Anything I could watch with you? Awakenings, I would watch and study with my friends and think you're the coolest actor. And then my friend's like, you ever seen Taxi Driver? I go, I don't think I have. And he goes, you know, you talking to me? I go, I know that, but I don't know why I know that. And then I watch it. It's unbelievable.
Robert De Niro
Well, you know, when you do a movie, you don't know how it's, what kind of impact it'll have on people. And it apparently did, just doing the movie. Not that we didn't love the script. Marty and I and Schrader wrote a terrific script, but you just don't know these things.
Jimmy Fallon
And you and Martin Scorsese are going to get together and celebrate the 50th anniversary of the movie at this year's Tribeca Festival. 50 years. Did you ever think you would work with Martin Scorsese that many times? How many movies have you probably done?
Robert De Niro
We've done 10 together.
Jimmy Fallon
That's amazing. It is, yeah. And you'll be together at the Tribeca Festival?
Robert De Niro
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Jimmy Fallon
We want to talk about the Tribeca Festival. More with Robert Tener when we come back. Everybody more. Time to come on back.
Welcome back, everybody. Robert De Niro is here right now. That's what I'm talking about.
And joining us right now is an Oscar and Emmy nominated producer and she's the co founder of the Tribeca Festival. Everyone, please welcome Jane Rosenthal. I've always wanted to have you on the show, you two together, but because you've always been so great to me, you've been working together for 40 years. 38.
Robert De Niro
38.
Jimmy Fallon
38 years. 38.
Belmont Camelli
Let's not rush it.
Jimmy Fallon
Let's not rush it. Yeah. Okay. Oh, yeah. How did Jane, what do you remember about first starting to work or getting to work with Robert?
Jane Rosenthal
Well, I was working on, as an executive at Disney on the Color of Money that Marty was doing.
Jimmy Fallon
Oh, yeah.
Jane Rosenthal
And he thought I should meet his friend Robert De Niro, who's thinking of starting a production company. And I thought, okay. I went to nyu, I studied film. I studied Martin Scorsese's student films. And he was asking me to meet Robert De Niro. So I thought I would go to that meeting.
Jimmy Fallon
Yeah, yeah.
Jane Rosenthal
And he was doing Midnight Run, and he was on a train track someplace, another glamorous location. And we met and we talked for over a year because he was interviewing lots of people.
Jimmy Fallon
And Robert, did Jane almost not get the job?
Robert De Niro
Well, there was one more person I was thinking about, but I was a very nice person. But it didn't work. So I'm glad.
Jimmy Fallon
I think you made the right choice. Yeah, yeah, yeah. You've gone on to make so many movies and shows together. You created the Tribeca Festival. This is the 25th year that you're putting on the festival. And it was at first.
Maluma
Yeah.
Jimmy Fallon
25 years in New York. The first was as a way to bring people back to lower Manhattan after 9, 11. And did you think it would last 25 years?
No.
Jane Rosenthal
No.
Ella Bright
I mean, it was.
Jimmy Fallon
No.
Jane Rosenthal
All we wanted to do is could we give our neighborhood something to look forward to? Could we give them a new memory? Could you give them something to laugh about? I mean, it was just so dark. And it was also, how do you make normal happen again, especially downtown? And we announced it November 2001, and 120 days later, we did it. It's a case where ignorance was bliss, because I didn't realize that I had. That we had signed long term deals with sponsors and that they actually wanted us to do it the next year. I thought it was just one and done.
Jimmy Fallon
Do you feel like we have to do this again? I wanted to mention a few amazing things that it's done. In the past 25 years, the Tribeca Festival has screened more than 5,000 films, include over 2,000 world premieres from 126 countries. Many award winning directors have made their directorial debuts at the festival, including Ryan Coogler, who made Black Panther and Sinners, and Damien Chazelle, who made Whiplash and La La Land. I have been lucky enough to do many things with you guys throughout the years. You're very nice to me always, and I appreciate that. I was at the first Tribeca Festival. I have a picture of me and you, Bob, doing a bit. This is you punching me. For some reason, I forget. I think I remember the bit I did something where I pretended you lost your voice or something. We ended up. And you played the ukulele. I did play the ukulele, yes. That's so funny.
Jane Rosenthal
It was so cute.
Jimmy Fallon
I appreciate it. Thank you. I also say I remember David Bowie being at the festival the year I was there. And there's always been music involved with the festival. In fact, June 5th, I'm interviewing Madonna at the Tribeca Festival. It's gonna be so fun. She is fun. She is so fun. I cannot wait to talk to her about that. But throughout the years, I've seen so many things. I remember Cameron Crowe did a documentary. Was it about Elton John?
Jane Rosenthal
It was about Elton John. And then he actually Elton played. It was our 10th anniversary and he was playing outside. Of course, I went and announced to the press that we were doing a live concert in Battery Park City. And I didn't tell Battery Park City, so they got a little upset.
Jimmy Fallon
What?
Jane Rosenthal
But I cried and we figured it out. And then the day of the performance, I get a call that the piano tuner, Elton's piano tuner, was concerned about the humidity and it might rain and he might not be able to do it. And we may have to move this inside. Well, we can't move 10,000 people inside. So anyway, I went down to see this little wonderful man, and he was saying, no, no, no. And I said, you must be hungry. Do you think you're hungry? He said, well, a little. I said, have you ever had Nobu?
Jimmy Fallon
I see it all pays off.
Jane Rosenthal
He just said okay. And anyway, Elton played and it was spectacular.
Jimmy Fallon
The rest is history. Here we go. Well, you put on a great festival every year. It's so great for everything and great for New York City. You guys are the greatest. I love you both. Thank you so much for being here.
Robert de Niro, Jane Rosenthal, everyone. If you're in New York, check out the Tribeca Festival running June 3 to June 14. For tickets, go to tribecafilm.com we'll be
right back with Maluma.
Stick around. Thank you.
Our next Guest is a 50 time platinum selling. 50 time platinum selling Grammy nominated artist whose new album loco por Bober
is available right now. Please welcome Maluma. Welcome back. Welcome to the show.
My goodness. Always looking good. You're a stud.
Come on, bud.
Colombia, La casa. Colombia in the building.
Come on. Colombia, la casa.
Good to see you, Jimmy. Good to see you.
Maluma
Good to be back, man.
Jimmy Fallon
Thank you for coming back and we always thinking about you. And congrats on the new album. Oh, my gosh, it's fantastic. Thank you. I want to get into something even more spectacular and special.
Maluma
Why?
Jimmy Fallon
Backstage I met your little baby. Yeah. She's two years old. She is the kid, the cutest baby.
Maluma
No, but she was crying. Not because she saw you, but she was crying before. I mean before you got there. Because she was missing mama. But mama is here sitting down. So she was like, where is my mom? And I was like, don't worry, my baby. You got daddy here.
Jimmy Fallon
Yeah.
Maluma
And you got Jimmy here.
Jimmy Fallon
She's so cute. And she's like. She's interested in her nose.
Maluma
Yeah, she was like rubbing her nose.
Jimmy Fallon
She's touching her nose. It's just the cutest little nose.
Maluma
Two years and a half. She's just a small baby.
Jimmy Fallon
I love her. She's so cute.
Robert De Niro
I know.
Jimmy Fallon
Does she know that her dad is Maluma or does she just know him as dad?
Maluma
Well, now she actually realized it. Like a couple months ago, I was at home and I was like rehearsing or something like that. And I asked her like, who do you think is singing? And she was like, juan, right? Juan Luis. That's my real name. Juan Luis.
Jimmy Fallon
Yeah.
Maluma
And then I was like, okay, let's do something. Once I go out from the house, I'm gonna be my luma.
Jimmy Fallon
All right.
Maluma
Inside the house is Juan Luis. But she got so confused, man.
Jimmy Fallon
Yeah. Yeah.
Maluma
That was stupid. I was like, no worries. I'm still Maluma here at home. But. Yeah, your daddy is a singer actually.
Jimmy Fallon
Yeah, that's Better. Yeah. Here's a picture of you and baby on her birthday party. There. Look at that.
Maluma
She's my everything, man.
Jimmy Fallon
She right.
Maluma
Oh, my God. I fall in love.
Jimmy Fallon
This past Mother's Day, you announced that you are expecting another baby in a few months. Oh, my God.
So what are you doing? Fun. The creator.
Oh, here's the announcement right here.
Maluma
I'm moving fast. I'm moving fast.
Jane Rosenthal
Yeah.
Jimmy Fallon
Come on.
Maluma
Well, Paris is already two years and a half, and I don't know, I always wanted to be a dad. And I was with my wife, with Susie, I was like, should we try one more time?
Jimmy Fallon
Yeah, bud.
Maluma
And then we have this baby boy. He's a boy. He's coming.
Jimmy Fallon
Oh, my gosh. Yeah, I know.
Maluma
He's gonna be here more or less on September is gonna be.
Jimmy Fallon
That's my birthday. That's my month.
Maluma
Oh, really?
Jimmy Fallon
Yeah. If you have a Virgo, 19th is my birthday.
Maluma
Oh, I think.
Jimmy Fallon
Let's make it happen.
Maluma
Those days.
Jimmy Fallon
Let's make it happen. Come on. September 19th. Jimmy.
Jimmy. Yes. Jimmy Jr. Yeah. Jimmy Jr. Yeah. Yeah. You named the baby after me.
It'd be such an honor. Jimmy Jr. Think about it.
Maluma
Jimmy Londono.
Jimmy Fallon
Yes.
That's a good name.
Maluma
That's such a Colombian last name.
Jimmy Fallon
London. Jimmy Londono. I love it. It's a good ring to it. Think about it. Please. Come on.
Why not?
Maluma
We can call him Jimmy London.
Jimmy Fallon
Yeah, Jimmy London. Ooh, that sounds cool. Sounds like. Yeah, it's like a James Bond movie. I know. Jimmy London. I want to ask you about this viral video. I'm gonna show it to you, but you posted it. Shakira came to visit you on your ranch and was riding one of your horses. Take a look at this. Is that AI or what in the hell? What in the hell did I just see?
Maluma
She's such a great writer. Yeah, yeah. She knows how to deal with Colombian horses. Because you just saw that's a typical Colombian horse, the way it moves. But the genetics is just like that. It's not that we teach them how to do that. The genetics.
Jimmy Fallon
The horses just do it. Yeah.
Maluma
They do it by themselves. So this horse is called 2020. And when I was there in Colombia, she came for the concert, and she invited me to perform with her. So we did the song that we had.
Jimmy Fallon
Oh, yeah, I love that.
Maluma
And after that, she called me. She was like, yo, I really love to go to La Finca. That is like the ranch outside of the city. And I want to ride some of your horses. So once she got there, I Thought she wanted to ride, like, the European horses. Because I have, like, European horses. Those are big, you know, are big, muscular, and, you know, like, more impressed with horses. And she was like, no way. I like Criollos. I like the typical horse from Colombia.
Jimmy Fallon
Yes, of course.
Maluma
And that's the kind of horse that I really love, too. And I actually breed those horses.
Jimmy Fallon
You do?
Maluma
Yeah. This. This weekend, we have a big competition in Colombia, and my horse is going to compete. So let's see what happens.
Jimmy Fallon
Oh, let's go, let's go, let's go, let's go. What's the name of the horse?
Maluma
Madre Monte.
Jimmy Fallon
Madre Monte.
Maluma
It's like Mount. No, the mother of mountains.
Jimmy Fallon
Yeah, yeah, yeah. And how's everything in Medellin?
Maluma
How is everything?
Jimmy Fallon
Yeah.
Maluma
Wow. Man, I'm missing it so bad already.
Jimmy Fallon
You are? Yeah. I know you are.
Maluma
Yeah, yeah. Unfortunately, I can't live over there because I'm always, like, moving around.
Jimmy Fallon
Yeah.
Maluma
But I have the finca, the ranch over there with my horses. My parents are over there.
Jimmy Fallon
I know your heart says, yeah, man.
Maluma
And I really love my place. And actually Loco Porto Bolbert, I would say, is like. Yeah. The reason why I did it is because the love that I have for my country and my roots and my Latino feeling, you know?
Unknown Comedic Sidekick
Can we zoom in?
Jimmy Fallon
Can we zoom in on this baby face here?
Maluma
I think my baby boy's coming is gonna look like that, man.
Jimmy Fallon
I mean, look at how cool that kid.
Maluma
I don't want to, but, yeah, I think so.
Jimmy Fallon
Yeah. He's pretty cool. If he looks like that. That's. He's a.
Maluma
It looks like AI.
Jimmy Fallon
Yeah, it does, right? But no, look at the face you're making there.
Maluma
It's actually me, man.
Jimmy Fallon
Where did you find this photo? And I love the.
Maluma
So I used to be. When I was a kid, I used to be, like, a model. I don't know why my parents put me in that situation, but it's okay. I love you, Dad.
Jimmy Fallon
I think we know. I think we know why. Yeah.
Maluma
But when I was a baby, I mean, a little kid, I had to do these castings for. Yeah, for modeling. And I saw this picture a long time ago, and I didn't know where it was. So when I was doing the whole thing of the album, I really wanted to put this picture because it represents what I'm feeling right now, you know? I wanted to go back to that childhood, to those feelings, to that moment. That's why I wanted to, you guys, to know Juan Luis, the real Juan Luis is over Here, you know?
Jimmy Fallon
Yeah. Because your albums usually have a theme where you're a character. Yeah, the last couple.
Maluma
Yeah.
Jimmy Fallon
Don Juan.
Maluma
Remember that?
Jimmy Fallon
I came here with Don Juan. I love Don Juan.
Maluma
And then with Papi Juancho.
Jimmy Fallon
Papi Huancho. With Jen. Yes.
Maluma
Yeah, exactly. So I was here with the other albums. But we can say at the end of the day, I was looking for something in the exterior, but now I'm looking for something in myself. And this is this album. And finally, I feel more mature. I feel different. I feel more proud of being Colombian. I feel proud of being dad, you know, being me, myself. Exactly. And that's why I really wanted to. To stop that character stuff and start being Juan Luis.
Jimmy Fallon
Yeah.
Maluma
I love it. I love being me.
Jimmy Fallon
You know, I gotta say, I've known you for a long time and just going in the dressing room and seeing you holding the baby.
Maluma
Exactly. The last time I was here, it didn't happen. Paris wasn't born.
Jimmy Fallon
She wasn't around.
Maluma
Exactly. And then you came into the dressing room and I was holding her.
Jimmy Fallon
I was like, I wish I took a picture. I'll never forget. Really? It's great, buddy.
Maluma
I was ashamed, man. I was like, oh, my God. I have to. To say hi to Jimmy. And she's here, all over me.
Jimmy Fallon
Oh, it's the best, your dad.
Maluma
I love you.
Jimmy Fallon
Ok. Ok. I heard that you brought me something tonight, which you don't have to bring me anything because you are the gift. Yeah, man.
Maluma
I was in Colombia before I got here, and I really wanted to bring you something very special. This is called Carriel. This is from Colombia. This is very typical from Colombia. We use it in Colombia just, of course, to carry some stuff when we are riding horses or we're in little towns. But the real present is inside of the bag. But this is yours, man. So you can wear it on the beach, wherever you want. Here in New York. I saw that you wanted to go
Jimmy Fallon
to Nobu with the mirrors.
Jane Rosenthal
Yes.
Jimmy Fallon
You can bring. I can bring that? Yeah. I can put my sushi in there.
Maluma
Yeah.
Jimmy Fallon
I love this. You kidding me?
Maluma
Come on, man.
Jimmy Fallon
You look fly.
Maluma
But there is another present inside the bag, so I want you to check
Jimmy Fallon
it, please, right now.
Maluma
Because it's special.
Jimmy Fallon
You should.
Maluma
That's a letter from Paris. She wanted to give you that. I had to put it inside the carrier.
Jimmy Fallon
Brother, you're the best. Oh, my God, Paris, thank you. I love it so much. I wanted to do something, give you something as well. So what?
Maluma
You have something for me? You didn't have To. Oh, my God. Hallelujah.
Jimmy Fallon
Can we explain what this is?
Maluma
Okay, so this is aguardiente from Colombia. This is our typical drink from Colombia.
Jimmy Fallon
Yeah.
Maluma
This is what I really like drinking also.
Jimmy Fallon
I like.
Maluma
I love. Obviously, I love mezcalan tequila. But now that I'm back to my roots, man, I came back to my aguardiente. So I want to do a shot with you.
Jimmy Fallon
Let's go, pa. Come on. Let's do it. We shoot. Come on. Congrats on the new almond. Thank you. And congrats on being a new papa, buddy. I love you, buddy.
Maluma, everybody. Pablo Local Por Bober is available now. We'll be right back, everybody. You know our next guest from the
very popular show Off Campus. All eight episodes are streaming now on Prime Video. Please welcome Ella Bright and Belmont Kemeli. Welcome, welcome. Welcome to the show. I got to talk to you backstage, and I have to say, Ella, I love your British accent.
Ella Bright
Thank you.
Jimmy Fallon
Oh, yes. But you are originally from New York.
Ella Bright
Yes.
Jimmy Fallon
I want to clarify for. Yes, New York is out there. Yeah. When did you. When did you move out?
Ella Bright
It was kind of like, back and forth until I think I was 6 years old. And then. Yeah, we've been in London my whole life. But my dad's from Oklahoma. My mom's from California. So not British really at all. Apart from the accent, which is kind of random.
Belmont Camelli
Y' all sound different.
Jimmy Fallon
It's hilarious.
Ella Bright
Yeah. Got two British sisters, so that's.
Jimmy Fallon
Yeah. I have a picture of you young in New York here. You're on your way to the Statue of Liberty.
Jane Rosenthal
Oh, my gosh.
Jimmy Fallon
Here's baby Ella in New York looking like. You really look like you're having a blast.
Yeah.
Ella Bright
I was on the way to the Statue of Liberty, and I was not enjoying myself, but now I would love it. So I don't know why I was so upset.
Jimmy Fallon
Look at how cute. Come on. That's so cute. Yeah. And, Belma, we were talking backstage. I said, do you have any early jobs that we could talk about? Like, when you first started out and you told me about this job you had that I think is everyone should know about this. It's fascinating.
Belmont Camelli
Well, so I started working for cash when I was 12. Every summer. I had three jobs. I mean, I was really going after it. I was like a little league umpire. I was a caddy in golf. And then I worked at an Italian restaurant where three of the owner's names were all Tony.
Jimmy Fallon
Fantastic.
Belmont Camelli
Which is like a very, you know, Italian thing for me to be Doing fantastic.
Jimmy Fallon
Yes. Shout out to Tony.
Belmont Camelli
Yeah.
Jimmy Fallon
Shout out to Tony. And Tony.
Yeah.
Belmont Camelli
And Tony.
Robert De Niro
And Tony.
Jimmy Fallon
And Tony.
Belmont Camelli
But my first real job where I got, like, a paycheck was when I started modeling in Chicago.
Jimmy Fallon
Yeah. Now, this is what I'm talking about.
Robert De Niro
Yeah.
Belmont Camelli
And this is like, you know, it's such a glamorous life. I started out, I would drive up five or six hours into Wisconsin, and, you know, you'd be there at a warehouse, and they'd have, like, a rack of, like, 200 T shirts, and you would just spend the day putting them on and off all day long. And so I was a T shirt model, and I get the picture. And I'd send it to my ma, and I'd be like, hey, check this out.
Jimmy Fallon
It's on sale, so you give her a discount. But I'm gonna show you guys the photo of Belmont's modeling, and you could tell me by applause how amazing is this guy. Look at this.
Belmont Camelli
Check that out.
Jimmy Fallon
Fantastic. Pretty good.
Jane Rosenthal
Yeah.
Belmont Camelli
Yeah.
Jimmy Fallon
How are we even sure that this is you? What are you talking about? No, no, no. This is my favorite thing I've ever seen. This is so good.
Belmont Camelli
I think I thought my face was in it, so I was really smoldering. And then we'd go online and it was like, oh, yeah. I mean, my chin was. It was perfect.
Jimmy Fallon
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Guys, let's talk about off campus. Congratulations.
Thank you so much.
Thank you.
Thank you.
This is a big deal. Everyone that I know is watching this show and obsessed with it is big. Are you feeling it? Are you feeling the popularity? Are people coming up to you and recognizing you? Yeah.
Ella Bright
We had a couple interactions. It's just been. Yeah, it's been really surreal. It's been really crazy.
Belmont Camelli
Yeah. A lot of the support has been very positive, and we're so proud of the show. It's been a very cool couple of weeks for us.
Ella Bright
Yeah, absolutely.
Jimmy Fallon
I know. J. Lo is fun following you on Instagram.
Ella Bright
That's completely normal.
Jimmy Fallon
Yeah.
Ella Bright
I don't even know what to say. Jaylen put it in the group chat. I hope you all know that J. Lo is following all of us on Instagram.
Jimmy Fallon
That's how you know you made it.
Ella Bright
It's crazy.
Jimmy Fallon
Yeah.
Belmont Camelli
Yeah. So we naturally, we followed her back. Most of my feed is now off campus. And JLo.
Jimmy Fallon
Yeah. Kind of a good voice. How do we describe off campus? It's a love story about hockey and about music.
Ella Bright
Yeah. It's a college group of friends. There's an ice hockey team. We have Hannah and Ali, I play. Yeah. Hannah, Music, hockey. We've got all the vibes.
Jimmy Fallon
Yeah.
Belmont Camelli
There's like. It's a really great ensemble. There's great friendships, there's great family moments. There's love, there's sex, there's hockey, there's music.
Jimmy Fallon
There you go. You hit all the bases right there.
Maluma
Yeah.
Jimmy Fallon
There's a lot of Easter eggs, too, from a lot of classic romantic comedies. Which ones stick out in your head and you go, oh, yeah. That's kind of the closest thing that we are to, I like to say,
Ella Bright
Troy and Gabriella, High School Musical.
Belmont Camelli
There is a kind of High School Musical thing.
Ella Bright
I think you gotta get him to sing at some point. I think that will have to happen.
Belmont Camelli
I know they're gonna make me sing at some point.
Jimmy Fallon
Yes, you have to. Can you sing? Are you going to. It doesn't matter.
Belmont Camelli
I can sing. Yeah. They're gonna make me do it.
Jimmy Fallon
They are definitely gonna make you do it. Yeah, you might make me.
Belmont Camelli
They made me dance already, so, I mean, like, I'm halfway there.
Ella Bright
I'm already a double threat.
Jimmy Fallon
Yeah, you're right. Double threat. Ella, I gotta say, one of your other co stars in the show has to be.
Belmont Camelli
Oh, yes.
Jimmy Fallon
Your bike helmet.
Maluma
My helmet?
Jimmy Fallon
Your helmet. You are wearing a helmet for a lot of this. Oh, yeah.
Ella Bright
And Hannah looks super cool doing it.
Jimmy Fallon
Oh, yeah.
Ella Bright
Safety for us.
Jimmy Fallon
Yeah, Safety is sexy, everybody. And did you think that you'd be wearing a bike helmet? This?
Ella Bright
I, I honestly, it was such a meme to us when we were filming. It was hilarious. I love that it was hilarious. It was such a joke. And the fact that everyone's kind of caught onto it is making me die. It's the funniest thing ever.
Jimmy Fallon
Oh, yeah.
Ella Bright
So I had to dance. Belmont also wearing that helmet.
Belmont Camelli
Yeah, I put the helmet on sometimes when she lets me.
Jimmy Fallon
Yeah, yeah. Only. Yeah, yeah. That's a good co star.
Belmont Camelli
It's a very special product.
Ella Bright
And the little umbrella was put in my helmet by Mika on the last scene of the show. So I was wearing that helmet till the very end.
Belmont Camelli
Yeah, she wears it a lot even when we're not filming.
Jimmy Fallon
That was so smart.
Belmont Camelli
But the last looks.
Jimmy Fallon
Ella, take the helmet off. Yeah, you have to. The show takes place in a college and there are a few fun phrases that come up throughout the show. And I was wondering if I could show everyone here some off campus expressions and then you explain what each one means. Great phrase. 1. Are people gonna think I'm a puck bunny?
Belmont Camelli
Ah, the puck bunny.
Jimmy Fallon
What is a puck bunny?
Belmont Camelli
Well, the puck bunny is the women that support the team. It's the girls that travel, and they all sit together and they root for Briar. Um, so that collection is the puck bunnies.
Ella Bright
And I think a term used in actual.
Belmont Camelli
I believe it's a real term.
Jimmy Fallon
It's a real term.
Belmont Camelli
Yeah, Yeah.
Jimmy Fallon
A puck bunny.
Ella Bright
Yes.
Jimmy Fallon
All right. I love that. I'll start using it. Yeah.
Okay.
Ella Bright
Great, great.
Jimmy Fallon
Yeah, yeah. Good. I think we found your drink. Drink? What does that mean?
Ella Bright
This is an alcoholic drink, and it's your favorite drink, I think, of all time. So for Hannah, the pina colada. I would say the same thing for me, but yeah. Drink, drink.
Jimmy Fallon
So that's the drink that you like, the one that you go, oh, I love that. That means that's our favorite.
Ella Bright
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Belmont Camelli
You're number one.
Ella Bright
Yeah.
Jimmy Fallon
What is yours?
Ella Bright
A pina colada.
Jimmy Fallon
Pina colada. Pretty good. Drink. Drink.
Ella Bright
It's really good.
Jimmy Fallon
Yeah.
Ella Bright
During the show actually, though, we had to drink vanilla almond milk with orange juice.
Jimmy Fallon
Congratulations. Yeah.
Ella Bright
It was acting.
Jimmy Fallon
Welcome to acting.
Ella Bright
Thank you, guys.
Jimmy Fallon
Don't drink that. No, it's not the drink. Drink.
Jane Rosenthal
No.
Jimmy Fallon
