Welcome, welcome. Welcome to the Tonight Show.
Dr. Will Brainard
You're here.
Jimmy Fallon
This is it.
Well, everyone, this Sunday is Mother's Day. Come on now. Happy Mother's Day. It's Mother's Day.
Marco Rubio
And get this.
Jimmy Fallon
I saw that Americans are expected to spend a record $38 billion. $38 billion. And if you combine that with what spent on Father's Day, that's $38 billion.
Yeah.
With Mother's Day, I almost hear a lot of people are shopping for that perfect Mother's Day card. And while there are a lot of good choices, there are some less popular cards out there. And I'm going to show you what I mean. First up, this card here says, mom, I'll always appreciate how you. You open it up. It says, wear your neck pillow while you walk around the airport. It's like, just wait till you get on the plane. I'll lose it. Here's another one. It says, mom, I'll never forget what you said to me. Open up says, maybe you could try Ozempid. Can I go? Why not? For your health. This next one says, mom, I know I can count on you. He opened up and says to send me a Facebook video I saw on TikTok three years ago. Ice bucket challenge.
Pretty good. Ice bucket.
Up next, this one says, mom, I can't thank you enough. Open up says, for letting me stay on your Verizon plan, even though I'm 47. Still counts. We're family or we're friends, whatever. Finally, this one says, mom, you always find time to call. Open up. It says, it's a butt dial, but still it counts. Thank you. Thank you, Mom. Some nice cards. Happy Mother's Day. Well, let's get to some news. Today, Secretary of State Marco Rubio went to the Vatican to smooth over tensions between President Trump and Pope Leo. You know, Trump might have taken things too far when even the Pope is like, I'm having a tough time forgiving this guy. I don't know. I. Rubio's in a tough spot because he's a devout Catholic, but Trump is his boss. So they're basically putting him in the middle and seeing which parent he goes to. It's like, come on, come on, little Marco, come to. Come to Daddy. Come to Daddy.
Come on, little Marco.
Come on. Ooh. Who gives you treats? Who gives you treats? At the meeting, the Pope gifted Rubio with a pen, and Rubio gifted the Pope a small crystal paperweight. So they both ran a paper source, I guess, five minutes before they met each other. Can we see a photo of the Pope in Rubio together?
Ronnie Wood
Hm.
Jimmy Fallon
Look like two guys waiting for their wives outside. Anton Pope is like, so you're wearing heels and Rubio's like, I thought you were wearing the hat. I just. Well, guys, with all that's going on in the world, a lot of people are looking for healthy ways to feel good and keep their minds in a positive place. So here with more on that is mental health expert Dr. Will Brainard. Welcome, Dr. Brainard. Oh, yeah, you know, just.
Dr. Will Brainard
Just call me Will. Jimmy. You know, as a therapist, I love sharing tips that are gonna help folks keep their heads in a good space. You ever gone berry picking in an open toed sandal?
Jimmy Fallon
Not that I can recall, no. But is that what you recommend?
Dr. Will Brainard
Oh, yes. In fact, I've put all my feel better tips into a song.
Jimmy Fallon
Fantastic. Let's hear it.
Dr. Will Brainard
You don't have to ask me twice.
Jimmy Fallon
I didn't.
Dr. Will Brainard
Whenever there's a problem that you can't handle. Just go berry picking in an open toed sandal. If you're wrongly implicated in a crime or a scandal. Just go berry picking an open toed sandal. Open toed sandal. Don't you feel better?
Jimmy Fallon
Uh, yeah, I do. That's great. But did.
Did I hear you say it? Wrongly implicated in a crime or a scandal.
Ronnie Wood
What?
Dr. Will Brainard
I am just singing about ways to help people. Would you like to hear more?
Jimmy Fallon
Sure. Yeah.
Ronnie Wood
Okay.
Dr. Will Brainard
Breathe really deep and light a little candle. Then go berry picking in an open toed sandal. If you're going into hiding from a gang of vandals. Cause they set you up and kicked you right in your manjewels.
Jimmy Fallon
Hey, wait, wait, wait. I'm sorry. I just. I feel like this. My song's drifting a little. Are you okay? Cause I'm starting to get a little concerned.
Oh, no, no.
Dr. Will Brainard
Don't be, Jimmy. No, these are just tips that could apply to anyone's life. You want to hear more?
Jimmy Fallon
Sure.
Dr. Will Brainard
If late one night you drank some Jack Daniels and got left at the heist. Cause Nicky said the van's full.
Jimmy Fallon
Or if you ever get tight on
Dr. Will Brainard
money and you find yourself drunk wandering in a bar down by the docks at 2am and you fall in with a bunch of gang guys who promise you easy money, but their only plan is just to shimmy up the rain gutter at the Frick Museum and steal a Rembrandt that you can't even get to because nobody researched the security system. And then they kick you in the and leave you at the scene after
Jimmy Fallon
you rented the van.
Dr. Will Brainard
Great plan.
Jimmy Fallon
Great plan.
Dr. Will Brainard
Nicky Knuckles, if that's your real name.
Jimmy Fallon
We ain't breaking no laws.
Dr. Will Brainard
He said my cousin owns the museum.
Jimmy Fallon
You're a liar. And I will testify against all of
Dr. Will Brainard
you because I have the texts right here. So if any of that ever happens to you, Jimmy, then you'll know how important it is to just drive upstate and go and sing it with me. Berry picking in an open toed sandal Sing sing, Mary. Picking in an open closed sandal Everybody, Mary Picking in an open closed sandal Come on, Barry. Picking in an open toast and do picking in a room in an open to sandal.
Jimmy Fallon
Doctor Will, thank you very much, too. Well, everybody. There he is. There he is. There you go, buddy.
There you go. Don't tell anybody you saw me, okay, buddy? Don't tell anybody you saw me is what he said. He's on tv. Yeah, because he. He's. He's running from the law.
Dr. Will Brainard
Yeah, no, there's no better place to hide from guys who were trying to kill you than at a berry farm.
Jimmy Fallon
Right, but then you broadcast from the berry farm on the Tonight show that millions of people are gonna see.
Dr. Will Brainard
Yeah, smart guy. But you don't know which one I'm at.
Jimmy Fallon
Which one are you at? I bet I can find you.
Dr. Will Brainard
I bet you go ahead and try it.
Jimmy Fallon
Yeah, I will. I'll come out. I will find you. Whatever. Berry.
Don't you come on up here. Why don't you try it?
Dr. Will Brainard
Cause you know what? I've been involved with crime. Now
Jimmy Fallon
get up and help me. Have fun. You. That Berry Pong Berry picking in an open door. Santa. Berry picking in an open door Sand.
Oh, that's a great sound. Hey, guys, listen to this. I read that an Italian food manufacturer in New Jersey is being sued for tomato fraud.
Whoa.
Over accusations that their tomatoes are not authentic. Yeah, when they heard everyone at Hunt's Ketchup hid the lights and dove behind the couch. Tomato fraud. Yeah, you're laughing, but in Jersey, that's life in prison. And finally, Bath and Body Works just released new Star wars themed body sprays and lotions. Finally, your chance to smell like wet Chewbacca.
We have a great show. Give it up for the roof, cousin.
Ronnie Wood
Let's have it, Mr. Holt.
Jimmy Fallon
Shop where it's my drunk bitch and rips are so savage. Freaking CC So average in a game they go bad.
Oh, thank you very much, everybody. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you very much.
What a show we have for tonight. He is a Grammy winning Rock and Roll hall of Famer and guitarist for the Rolling Stones. Their new album Foreign Tongues is available for pre order now and out July 10th.
Ronnie Wood is here tonight. Ronnie Foreign. Rolling Stones.
Come on, Rolling Stones. I cannot wait to talk to Ronnie Wood. Plus, she stars in the new movie the Sheep Detectives, which is in theaters tomorrow. Molly Gordon is joining us.
Yeah, that's cool.
It's cute. He hosts the global travel series K Everything, which is available May 9th on HBO. Max, Daniel Day Kim is here. Tony nominated. Love that guy. Hey, guys. Last weekend was a big sports weekend because you had the F1 Grand Prix race down in Miami and the Kentucky Derby. Yeah. So I did something cool. What? I teamed up with Ford to try to see if I could do both.
What?
Check it out. Hey, guys. I'm here at Hard Rock Stadium for the Formula 1 crypto.com Miami Grand Prix 2026, and I've had an absolute blast so far.
We got this. Come on. Okay.
I'm so excited with this.
Oh, my gosh.
My insides are over here and my outsides over here.
Wow. How fast are we going? 140. 140. 150. 150.
My arms feel weightless. Thank you so much. Now I'm joined by two of my favorite drivers in the world. They're part of the Oracle Red Bull racing team. It's Max Verstappen and Isaac Hajar. Come on. Thanks for doing this. Thanks for being here.
I love being here.
Max Verstappen. Yeah. Like Verstappen at the store. Verstappen to get coffee. You know, Verstappen is interviewing.
Ronnie Wood
Yeah.
Jimmy Fallon
How are you prepping for the race? Yeah. Doing this. I was doing that.
We're going really well.
Marco Rubio
Just like that.
Jimmy Fallon
Are you okay?
Cool.
Max Verstappen
Yeah.
Jimmy Fallon
Yeah.
Max, you've won four championship titles. You've obviously been here before. It's my first F1 race. So what do I have to do while I'm here? Well, I mean, you can see the cars.
Molly Gordon
Yeah.
Jimmy Fallon
Oh, absolutely.
Max Verstappen
Listen to these guys, Jimmy. They really know their stuff. And while you're doing that, here's a fun fact. Their car is powered by Red bull Ford powertrain DM01 engine. I'm Glenn, engineer extraordinaire.
Jimmy Fallon
Thanks. Yeah. So anyway, Max, Isaac.
Max Verstappen
And what's even cooler than that is that Ford is racing all over the world. It's sort of a proving ground so they can make better cars that end up in your driveway.
Jimmy Fallon
That's great. So Isaac, how fast can your car go?
Max Verstappen
Probably like 220 miles per hour. Yeah, we're talking 98 meters per second, Jimmy. That's a lot of horses horsepower.
Jimmy Fallon
Speaking of horsepower, the Kentucky Derby is also this weekend. And I was hoping to go there too. I was wondering, how long would it take to get to Kentucky in your car?
Max Verstappen
Jimmy, Jimmy, Jimmy. If you want to get to Kentucky, you're gonna have to go off road. All right. And I've got just the vehicle.
Jimmy Fallon
I'll leave you with him. See you later,
Max.
Max Verstappen
Looks like it's just you and me. Come on, let's hit the road. The Ford F150 Raptor R. A high performance desert racing inspired off road truck. Now let's get suited up.
Jimmy Fallon
Wait, we're going together?
Max Verstappen
Heck yeah. Never pass up a road trip with my best buddy. Let's do this. I was trying to do that.
Jimmy Fallon
I. I learned this from Ezekiel.
Cool.
Max Verstappen
Let's just make sure that the mirror is in position here and we'll see. See? Oh yeah.
Jimmy Fallon
I'll check.
Molly Gordon
And.
Max Verstappen
Oh. Steering wheel.
Jimmy Fallon
Let's just get going. Come on.
Max Verstappen
All right, boss.
Jimmy Fallon
Kentucky, here we come.
Max Verstappen
Ford wants to help people be more capable with the most capable vehicles.
Jimmy Fallon
That's a really interesting.
Max Verstappen
So this thing is equipped with a 5.2 liter supercharged V8 engine. And it features 37 inch tires and aggressive wide body design.
Jimmy Fallon
I love an aggressive wide body design. And we're here.
Welcome to Churchill Downs, Mr. Fallon. Medjula. Well, thank you. Say, when does the derby start? Tomorrow. You guys got here way too early. Oh, I guess we'll just take the rapture back to Miami. I've got a better idea.
Max Verstappen
Why don't we take a Mustang, ride
Jimmy Fallon
a horse to Miami.
Awesome.
Max Verstappen
Oh, the Ford Mustang dark horse.
Jimmy Fallon
You ready? Let's go.
My thanks to Ford and Ford racing, Max Verstappen, Isaac Hajar, the Oracle Red Bull racing team and F1. And be sure to enter.
Be sure to enter the Ford derby sweepstakes for a chance to win a 2026 Bronco Badlands SUV and other prizes.
We'll be right back with more tonight show. Everybody come on back. Our first guest is a Tooth.
A four time inductee to the rock and roll hall of fame.
Dr. Will Brainard
A four.
Jimmy Fallon
Yes.
A four time Grammy winner and a
member of The Rolling Stones.
Their new album, Foreign Tongues, is available
for pre order now and out July 10th. Everyone, please welcome Ronnie Woods.
That's ronnie wood.
Marco Rubio
Come.
Jimmy Fallon
The one and only. Come on.
They love you. We love you. Welcome to the show.
Come on.
Ronnie Wood
Thanks, Jimmy.
Jimmy Fallon
I love seeing you, brother. I love seeing. As always, I have to tell everybody this because a couple weeks ago, we were off. We were on vacation. I'm at this beautiful vacation spot with my family.
Ronnie Wood
Unplanned.
Jimmy Fallon
Unplanned. I'm on the beach. And who comes up around the corner? I go, is that. It's Ronnie Wood. And you're like, hi, bud. And I go, wait, am I at, like a fantasy camp or something? I'm like, what's going on, bud? I mean, you're a rock. I love you so much. I'm like, is this like a treat? It was like a dream. We hung out. You were there with your beautiful family and Sally and the twins. And you go, do you want any of the record? I got the new album. I go, are you kidding me? You gonna play me the album?
Ronnie Wood
I said, three o' clock tomorrow afternoon.
Jimmy Fallon
Yeah.
Ronnie Wood
In the studio, full blast.
Jimmy Fallon
Yes.
We listened to the whole Rolling Stones album together. We have the video.
Come on, Ronnie. Yeah, come on, Ronnie. Come on, Ronnie. Come on, Ronnie. Further and further through the ceiling I
was rocking out so hard he went
Ronnie Wood
up through the ceiling each song we got higher and higher.
Jimmy Fallon
Yes. I was dancing around.
I loved it so much. There's so many great jams on this. And I listened to that. That was. That was back in your life, right? Was that song. And your solo is fantastic. You were telling me that you played for like.
Ronnie Wood
Did you play for nine minutes? It was. Yeah.
Jimmy Fallon
A nine minute guitar solo.
Ronnie Wood
Yeah. And then I came in,
Jimmy Fallon
we cut it down to 405.
Yeah, you cut it down. You cut it down, but you play for nine minutes. You're just in the zone.
Ronnie Wood
I tell you what. I was so moved that day and disappointed and sad and I had so much feeling because Brian Wilson died that day. Yeah. I never forget. And that week, Sly Stone died, too. And I thought, oh, no, it's so sad. And it come out through my guitar, the feeling, you know? And you did it, just one take. And I just said, it's magic. I didn't do that. The guitar played itself.
Jimmy Fallon
Yeah. Do you remember? It felt that way. It felt that way. It's just magic. Do you remember getting your first guitar and where were you and where did you first try to play, or.
Marco Rubio
No.
Ronnie Wood
Well, when I was 5 or 6 I had. My brothers were 8 and 10 years older than me, you see, and they were both musicians and they're both artists. So if they played, I would play. And if they painted, I would paint. And a friend of theirs gave me his acoustic guitar to borrow, and then he got called up to the army and took it back. And I was so disappointed. So my brothers got me one on the plan, and that's where I started.
Jimmy Fallon
And then you also played bass For a while.
Ronnie Wood
I didn't even know after playing guitar with the Birds. Then I'd met Jeff Beck on tour and he. We said, you know, one of these days we'll get together. So, you know, my group, the Birds, split up. He left the Yardbirds, and I rang him up and I said, what we gonna do? He said, come on, let's get together. I got this vocal. I got this vocalist. I don't know if you know him. His name is Rod Stewart. And I said, oh, Rod. I met him. So he said, would you mind playing bass? Jeff said, would you mind playing? I said, no, I love a challenge.
Jimmy Fallon
Let's go.
Ronnie Wood
Boom. Started up with it, and then I got a different aspect of playing the guitar when I went back on the guitar with the faces.
Jimmy Fallon
And you bought a bass guitar?
Ronnie Wood
Yeah. Well, I had no money, so I had to borrow it during rehearsals in Chinatown, in Soho, in London. And I went round to Selma and I said, could I have that jazz bass? Could I borrow it, you know? And they said, yeah, yeah, you have to get your parents to sign the form, you know, if you like it. And I said, well, they said, promise to bring it back this afternoon. So later on, five years later, I went back to the store and said, do you remember that jazz bass that went missing? And they went, yes, we do. And I said, it was me, and I've come to pay you.
Jimmy Fallon
He's a lad of steel.
Come on, Ronnie Wood.
But you're actually. For the first time this summer, you're doing your first solo show. First in 16 years. This is amazing. You announced you're doing solo shows and it's sold out. It's beyond belief. A big guy.
Ronnie Wood
That's nice. Hey, guys, you gotta keep your chops together, right?
Jimmy Fallon
Yeah.
Ronnie Wood
All right.
Jimmy Fallon
You have to. You have to.
Ronnie Wood
So, you know, in between times, when I'm not painting, I'm playing, so I gotta keep. I've got rustled up some original musicians that I played with. Andy Newmark, my first drummer on my first solo album.
Jimmy Fallon
Wow.
Ronnie Wood
He played with Sly the Family Stone, and he was incredible. We had Willie Weeks from Aretha, you know, and those two together were incredible. Basic dance.
Jimmy Fallon
You played with everybody, but, I mean, you play there. You're gonna meet up with Van Morrison. You're meeting up with Eric Klatsen, your buddy.
Ronnie Wood
Yeah, I'm gonna have Rhonda in my band. Yeah.
Jimmy Fallon
Come on, man. This is what I was gonna ask you, though, when you. Because we had you on the show before and we were talking about your art. And by the way, you're an amazing artist. And you're having a show in Germany, right? You're having a big. A big show.
Ronnie Wood
Big museum show.
Jimmy Fallon
Big museum show. Ronnie Wood.
Ronnie Wood
November.
Jimmy Fallon
In November. I just want to show you some of Ronnie's artwork, just so you understand, because we all know your guitar playing, that artwork, but your painting is stunning. This is one of yours. This is called Storm at Sea.
Ronnie Wood
Yeah, that's returning. Yeah.
Jimmy Fallon
Come on, bud. But also, you do the band as well. You did the Paint it Black series.
Ronnie Wood
Yeah, of.
Jimmy Fallon
Here's Mick, here's Keith, And here's my man, Ronnie Wood. That's okay. That's my dude. When you're playing, when you're painting, are you thinking about playing? And when you're playing, are you thinking about painting or.
Max Verstappen
No?
Ronnie Wood
Exactly, Julie.
Jimmy Fallon
Yeah.
So you are, right? See?
Yeah.
I knew I got it right.
Ronnie Wood
It's inspirational to do, you know, I'm lucky enough to do a solo thing with the painting and then be part of a band, you know, be part of a group, to express musically. It's such a gift, you know, to be able to do both.
Jimmy Fallon
Yeah. I can't even tell you how much I love the album. I already told you, I would say Back in your life is one of my jams. I like Rough and Twisted. You do a cover of Amy Winehouse. I don't know if anyone knows that. You guys are, you know, I'm no good Quest. This jam is.
Dr. Will Brainard
Trouble.
Jimmy Fallon
Yes. God, It's a phenomenal album. Andrew Watt did a great job producing this. There's so many fun little guest stars on this album as well. I will say. Paul McCartney's on this album.
Ronnie Wood
Dan.
Jimmy Fallon
Yeah.
Steve Winwood.
Ronnie Wood
Steve is so lovely. Steve Winwood plays What a blessing, man.
Jimmy Fallon
He's phenomenal on this, I gotta say. Just congratulations.
Ronnie Wood
But we got the energy in the band, you know, the icing is already there, you know?
Jimmy Fallon
No, but it's you, bud. It's all you. And you're a musical genius. You're a legend. I love you so much. The best, dude.
Thank you. 4 and 10 is available for pre order on July 10. More international after the break. Come on back. Our next guest is a talented actress,
as we know from her roles in Booksmart, Theater Camp and the popular series the Bear. You can now see her in the new film the Sheep Detectives, which is in theaters tomorrow. Please welcome Molly Gordon.
That's what we're talking about. Hi. Hi. Welcome to the show.
I want to get into the Sheep Detectives. I cannot wait for this. But first, I want to talk to you about this movie that you're working on called Pete.
Molly Gordon
Yes.
Jimmy Fallon
The Internet is kind of freaking out over it already. Congrats on this.
Molly Gordon
Thank you.
Jimmy Fallon
The premise behind this is a high school reunion.
Molly Gordon
Yes. I wrote it with my high school best friend who works on snl. She's writing probably right now in this room. Not in this room. In this building.
Jimmy Fallon
In this building.
Molly Gordon
She's writing in the corner of this room. But yeah, it's about two women that are not invited to their high school reunion. And hilarity ensues. Hopefully. But, you know, we wrapped three weeks ago, so I've been in the edit. I have 15 minutes of the movie.
Jimmy Fallon
Okay, that's not bad.
Molly Gordon
I think that's all you need.
Jimmy Fallon
That's all you really need. Oh, yeah.
Molly Gordon
These days are on their phone, right?
Jimmy Fallon
Oh, 15 minutes is long for a movie.
Molly Gordon
Exactly.
Jimmy Fallon
Absolutely. But it is a great cast.
Molly Gordon
I feel so lucky. I have Laura Dern.
Jimmy Fallon
Yeah, I love Laura Dern.
Molly Gordon
Connor story.
Jimmy Fallon
Come on, Connor. Oh, come on. By the way, all the heated rivalry fans are going nuts for this.
Let's go. We want more.
Molly Gordon
I feel so lucky that he's in the movie. He's also just such a lovely person. And then, of course, we have my father.
Jimmy Fallon
Yes. Yes, you can. Yes. That's gonna sell the tickets.
Molly Gordon
Yeah. My father plays an orthodontist in the film. He was our most difficult actor by far.
Jimmy Fallon
Why did you cast your dad? Just why, besides loving him?
Molly Gordon
I've always, like, Scorsese, wanted to put my. Like, the greatest director of all time. I wanted to put my par. My mom is also in the film.
Jimmy Fallon
Yeah. I love when his mom's in. Yeah.
Happy Mother's Day. Come on. Happy Mother's Day.
Molly Gordon
But my dad took it very seriously. He was in character for about three weeks before he kept asking.
Jimmy Fallon
Orthodontist.
Molly Gordon
Orthodontist. He kept asking if there was gonna be a technician on set that he could ask. He was going up to random extras, asking if they were orthodontists, if they could help him.
Jimmy Fallon
Oh, my Lord.
Molly Gordon
He had one line he was processing. He wanted many different takes, you know, to figure out exactly what was the beginning and the end of the scene. Oh, my gosh. But he was incredible. He's gonna be amazing in the film.
Jimmy Fallon
Oh, my God. Of course. He'll be fantastic in this. I was asking you backstage as acting, did you get the bug that was your first love? And you're like. Yeah. But also a little music.
Molly Gordon
Yes.
Jimmy Fallon
You went to like a theater camp?
Molly Gordon
I went to rock camp, actually. So I love that jam session that you were just having.
Jimmy Fallon
Wow.
Molly Gordon
I would've loved to get. I don't play harmonica, but I would've loved to get in there with like a cowbell or something.
Jimmy Fallon
Yes, yes. We make sure that that exists.
Molly Gordon
Thank you.
Jimmy Fallon
What kind of bands were you in?
Molly Gordon
In rock camp, I had a jazz band called Deep Blue.
Jimmy Fallon
Hold your applause, hold your applause. Hold your applause for Deep Blue.
Molly Gordon
Yeah, yeah.
Jimmy Fallon
We actually have a. I think this is like a photo session or an album cover of Deep Blue Jazz.
Molly Gordon
Thank you.
Jimmy Fallon
Were you.
Molly Gordon
It was like a fedora. It was a fedora phase.
Jimmy Fallon
Oh, yeah.
Molly Gordon
And there's something about a woman in a fedora. And you've always said this.
Jimmy Fallon
I've always said this, yeah. Are you kidding me? I have a lower back tattoo that says that. Yeah. I wanted to give a little taste of your band. I don't know if you know, but we got an MP3 of what you recorded on, I think, GarageBand. And was just you?
Molly Gordon
Yeah, this was just me. This was like in the height of GarageBand, kind of me alone flowing. Yeah.
Jimmy Fallon
How old do you think you were?
Molly Gordon
I'm 11.
Jimmy Fallon
Okay, 11 year old. And this song is called Julie. And it's very deep, by the way. Yeah, I love it actually. But let's listen to Julie. Here we go. Molly Gordon.
Molly Gordon
The metronome is on, obviously.
Jimmy Fallon
I can barely hear it. I hear the art. On them.
Molly Gordon
Papa Julie.
Jimmy Fallon
Papa Julie. Yeah. Papa Julie.
Molly Gordon
Yeah. You ended with Bye bye Julie.
Jimmy Fallon
Bye bye Julie.
Molly Gordon
Bye bye Julie.
Jimmy Fallon
You're almost Southern, maybe. Almost. A little hint of Southern accent.
Molly Gordon
There's a southern twang.
Jimmy Fallon
Bye bye Julie.
Molly Gordon
Bye bye Julie.
Jimmy Fallon
Now who is Julie?
Molly Gordon
I do not know.
Jimmy Fallon
In general, you were saying goodbye to.
Molly Gordon
I'm saying goodbye to someone who's clearly an ex lover. I'm processing something sexually.
Jimmy Fallon
Wow.
Molly Gordon
I don't know. Something's going on. That's a shortened version of the song. You know, for the right money, I'd be willing to release the full track.
Jimmy Fallon
But let's see the right money.
Molly Gordon
Yeah, yeah.
Jimmy Fallon
Bye Bye, Julie. You could maybe even put Baa Ba Julie in the Sheep Detective soundtrack.
Molly Gordon
Brilliant.
Jimmy Fallon
Bye.
Bye, Julie.
Yes. Literally.
Molly Gordon
Yeah.
Jimmy Fallon
Sequel.
You've got to call me. For the right amount of money, I can make that happen.
Molly Gordon
For the right amount of money, we'll do anything.
Jimmy Fallon
Let's talk about the Sheep Detectives. I think this is the cutest, coolest, most interesting movie out this weekend. I'm so excited to take my kids to go see it. But your actors are mostly sheep in this film, and you were telling me backstage that it's all movie magic.
Molly Gordon
Yes. I did the film to work with animals, and that was not my experience.
Jimmy Fallon
These are cardboard. These are cardboard shoes.
Molly Gordon
Yes. I was kind of going through a breakup and didn't know if I wanted to work. My parents were like, go, Molly. You'll work with animals. They'll heal you. It was me on a mountain, alone with stuffed sheep, kind of really processing a lot. It was a dark time, but I found the love of my life, Emma Thompson.
Jimmy Fallon
Oh, wow.
Ronnie Wood
Okay.
Jimmy Fallon
That's my love of my life, too.
I love Emma Thompson. Who doesn't love Emma? Are you joking?
Molly Gordon
So she is my set crush.
Jimmy Fallon
Yeah, she's everyone's crush.
Molly Gordon
She met me and she was like, you are a sad woman. You will come to my house.
Jimmy Fallon
Yes.
Molly Gordon
I will cook you a roast. And she introduced me to her amazing family, and she is just like, an incredible, kind, brilliant woman. And I'm in love with her, and I dressed up for her every day. Like, she's the hottest person I know. So I'm so glad that I did that.
Jimmy Fallon
I love her, too.
Ronnie Wood
Yeah.
Jimmy Fallon
I love Evan Thompson. The coolest.
Molly Gordon
The coolest.
Jimmy Fallon
How do we set it up? And Hugh Jackman's in it as well, who we also love. How do we set up the Sheep Detectives?
Molly Gordon
Well, it's. You can only say so much. It's really shrouded in secrecy.
Jimmy Fallon
No. Now's the time to let the secret out of the bag.
I don't know.
Molly Gordon
The bag.
Jimmy Fallon
Oh, my gosh.
Write these down. Write these down.
Were you impressed?
Yes. You have to take the sheep's out of the bag.
Yeah.
Molly Gordon
The puns are endless. I think it's kind of the Star wars of the sheep universe.
Jimmy Fallon
Yes.
That's what people are saying.
Molly Gordon
Yeah, but it's a whodunit. It's kind of. Yeah, it's. Hugh Jackman's a. Hugh Jackman is a shepherd.
Jimmy Fallon
Yes.
Molly Gordon
And he gets murdered.
Jimmy Fallon
But he reads mysteries to his sheep to his sheep.
Molly Gordon
And they go. We're, like, begging them in the Audience, we're like, they go to solve the murder. The sheep.
Jimmy Fallon
The sheep do it.
Molly Gordon
The sheep do it.
Jimmy Fallon
And you kidding me?
Molly Gordon
It's so Craig Mason wrote it.
Jimmy Fallon
Yes.
Molly Gordon
He wrote the Last of Us. Wake up.
Jimmy Fallon
Come on, folks.
Chernobyl. Come on, folks.
Molly Gordon
Come on. And he wrote this book. Beautiful kind of meditation on grief. And Julia Louis Dreyfus, another queen, plays the lead sheep.
Jimmy Fallon
How fun.
Molly Gordon
Bryan Cranston plays Sebastian the Ram. He absolutely bodies the role. He should win an Oscar.
Jimmy Fallon
He should win an Oscar.
Molly Gordon
Yeah.
Jimmy Fallon
Wait, wait. So you're doing the bear, right? And then as you're doing the bear, your co stars go off, they start doing these big movies, right?
Molly Gordon
Well, I got Sheep Detectives. When I was on the set of the Baron, everyone was like, you should do it. You gotta do Sheep Detectives. And then, you know, IO did Luca's movie and Jeremy did Bruce Springsteen. And then we've all been waiting for the Sheep Detectives.
Jimmy Fallon
Yeah, this is the one.
Molly Gordon
It's been. And so it's exciting, you know, for it to finally be out in the world.
Jimmy Fallon
This is the one.
Here we go.
Molly Gordon
Yeah.
Jimmy Fallon
Molly Gordon, everybody. The Sheep Detectives is in theaters tomorrow. More Tonight show after the break. Stick around, everybody. Come on back.
Ronnie Wood
Last of the Red Hot.
Jimmy Fallon
Him hot. Love. Our next guest is a Tony nominated actor and producer who hosts the new series K Everything, which is available May 9 on HBO Max and the CNN app. Please welcome Daniel Day.
K.
That's a stud right there. Come on, bud.
Ronnie Wood
Welcome.
Marco Rubio
Still trying to be like you.
Jimmy Fallon
Yeah, right. Come on, Daniel. You've had an incredible year. Can we go through some of the stuff? You were nominated for a Tony Award, by the way. Congratulations.
Thank you very much. Thank you.
Congratulations.
You're fantastic. Thank you.
You were in the biggest film on the planet, K Pop Demon Hunters.
Who knew?
What's the biggest pinch me moment of this past year?
Marco Rubio
Well, I gotta say, like, there's been so many amazing things. Like, you know, I watch a show and so I know that you had a lot of the cast members from K Pop Demon Hunters on the show performing.
Jimmy Fallon
Yeah, we did.
Marco Rubio
Yeah. And you're a big K Pop fan. You bring BTS out here. You know, blackpink, all the.
Jimmy Fallon
I do. I love it. We had Audrey Nuna on the show and she was talking about just Korean culture and H Mart, and we just got talking about that. And I was talking to her mom and she's like, do you go to H Mart? I go all the time. I don't cry there. But yeah, I go to H Mart and I went Literary. Very literary. Thank you. Yes, well read audible. So I. No, but she gave me this gift basket of everything, all these Korean snacks and things. And I'm like, I just want to learn. I'm interested in understanding everything. So that's why I think K everything is a great idea that you're doing this show.
Marco Rubio
Thanks. You know, when I grew up, being Korean wasn't so cool, but now there's kind of a cool factor to it
Jimmy Fallon
that I've never known before. Yeah, come on, bud. But now you say you're an Oscar winning film. Congratulations. There you go, bud. That's right. That's right.
It's a big deal.
Marco Rubio
You know, it's kind of a blink and you miss me role. But, you know, it was really fun. Like, I love doing comedy. That's why I love what you do so much. And when they asked me to be a part of it, I was like, oh, well, this will be good, because, you know, nice little film for kids. You know, we'll see what happens.
Jimmy Fallon
Yeah, we'll see what happens with it. Did you have any idea it was gonna be the phenomenon?
Marco Rubio
No, no, no. I never have any idea. Like, and if you're. I always guess. And I hope that it's, you know, good that people will watch it, but I had no idea that it was gonna be this. And it's just great to be a part of.
Jimmy Fallon
Yeah, I mean, it's a phenom, but this made me laugh because I know you have a great sense of humor. This is your post after the Tonys. You said, I've always wondered what I would look like if I was ever nominated for an award and had a camera in my face the moment I found out I didn't win. Now I know, but I love that you posted that. That's good on you. You said you got a good sense of humor and you go, yeah, it's all fun.
Marco Rubio
You know, it's such an awkward position to be in. You know, like, if you're hopeful that you're gonna win, you've got a camera in your face and you're just kind of like, you know, what am I gonna look like? Because I've seen those actors who lose and they're like,
Jimmy Fallon
you know, yeah, yeah,
Marco Rubio
of course I didn't want to be that guy. So I was like, what am I gonna focus on? You know, I'm just gonna focus on the fact that Cola Scola was amazing that year.
Jimmy Fallon
Yeah, that's right.
Marco Rubio
I thought they were gonna win.
Jimmy Fallon
Everyone, their whole category was great. But you Were great.
Marco Rubio
No, thank you.
Jimmy Fallon
And I love seeing your face all over New York City, by the way. There was posts of you everywhere, and I was like, that's my dude.
I'm sorry.
Marco Rubio
I'm sorry.
Jimmy Fallon
No, he loved it. Do people come up to you all the time and talk to you about Lost and what happened in the finale? Yeah.
Marco Rubio
You know what's weird? Like, New York is amazing because you can just walk everywhere, especially in this gorgeous weather. And just the other day, I was walking down the street and someone came up to me like, hey, man, I loved you on that show. And I was like, what show?
Jimmy Fallon
Lost. Lost.
Marco Rubio
And I was like, wow, 20 years ago I got.
Jimmy Fallon
Yes. Yeah.
Marco Rubio
And they were like, so did you like the finale? They're still asking me about it.
Jimmy Fallon
It's so fun. It was such. But that's another cultural phenomena that you're involved in. Good for you.
Marco Rubio
Yeah. No, I mean, don't stop.
Jimmy Fallon
Don't stop with these phenomena. Now you have K everything.
Marco Rubio
I'm happy.
Jimmy Fallon
Explain the show to everyone and this series and what you're doing with the hbo Max. Yeah.
Marco Rubio
Well, we talked about K Pop Demon Hunters and, you know, the rise of BTS and K Pop and, you know, so it was a great time, we thought, to focus on what makes Korea tick. What's special about that culture that leads to phenomena like K pop and K drama and K beauty, you know, like a lot of Korean skincare products.
Dr. Will Brainard
Absolutely.
Marco Rubio
And also K food, you know, so, you know, nowadays. Yeah, exactly. Everyone. And everyone knows kimchi now. And you're a kimchi fan, I hear.
Jimmy Fallon
I do. I have Kim. Yes. I love kimchi. It is delicious and pickly and yummy and fermented, and I think it's fantastic. And I'm an Irish guy from Brooklyn, so, I mean, I know, but I love it. It's fantastic.
Marco Rubio
But I love it that everyone knows about it. Everyone talks about it. Non Koreans are saying, like, did you know it's a probiotic?
Jimmy Fallon
Yeah, I know. Yeah. I don't want to become that guy. But. Yes, but it is. But that's why I love it. I love learning and I love exploring and seeing different cultures, foods, and all that stuff. When we had Audrey Nuna on the show sang golden, she was on the show and she was saying, when I was a kid, I used to get made fun of for my food because it smelled different than the other kids lunches. And I was like, I don't know that because I didn't live like that. But, oh, my gosh, I could just Imagine. And just. If anyone just could open their eyes and their ears and their brains and go, yeah, this is just our food, and this is what it is. And share and knowledge is power, you know?
Marco Rubio
But now it's embraced, which is exactly why.
Jimmy Fallon
Thanks.
Good.
Marco Rubio
What a nice audience. No, but it's embraced, which makes it the perfect time to do a show like this, to introduce Korea to people who don't know it. And if you do know a little bit about it, then maybe you'll find something new and be able to say, yeah, I knew before everyone else.
Jimmy Fallon
Here we go. Before we go.
You.
You brought me something that you wanted to show me. Yes. Now explain this to me. And what is this?
Marco Rubio
Ah, now we're getting serious.
Jimmy Fallon
All right, this is a soju bomb.
Marco Rubio
Yeah. So, Jimmy, you and I have never gone drinking in K Town, so I thought I would bring K town to you, my man.
Jimmy Fallon
Come on. That's what I'm talking about.
Marco Rubio
All right, so I'm picking on my jacket for this.
Jimmy Fallon
All right, perfect.
I love it.
Marco Rubio
You're getting ready.
Jimmy Fallon
Yes. All right, so.
Marco Rubio
So, you know, when you go out drinking in K town, one of the things that Koreans love to do is mix soju, which is this distilled alcohol right here. And that can be distilled from many different things. Wheat, grapes, rice. But it's lower in alcohol content than vodka, so it mixes really well with stuff like juices and beer. So a really popular drink is soju mixed with beer, or mekju, as they call it. So it's called.
Jimmy Fallon
Okay, so mek.
Marco Rubio
Okay, yeah. So it's kind of like a boilermaker, you know, when you drop whiskey into a beer? And so this is the Korean version of that. So I thought we would make what's called a soju bomb.
Jimmy Fallon
Okay.
Marco Rubio
Now, there are. Now, this is a whole elaborate thing that Koreans do when they make their soju. You know what I mean? Like, it's a whole thing.
Jimmy Fallon
You have things here. Yeah, yeah.
Marco Rubio
And the way you open all this stuff, it's all very.
Jimmy Fallon
It's all very. That was already magic. That was already. Wow.
Marco Rubio
So what we do is we pour a little shot in.
Jimmy Fallon
Okay.
Marco Rubio
And, Jimmy, I want you to do this with me, all right? Because it's a very communal thing.
Jimmy Fallon
Thank goodness we're almost at the end of the show. Yeah, yeah. Okay, perfect.
Marco Rubio
And the start of the night. So what do we got here? Okay, that's just a little foam. I'll pour a little bit. So the other thing is, you know, there's a very. There are strict rules to how people drink in Korea. Like, if we were out drinking, we would know each other's age, and then the younger person would have to pour for the older person, just like I described in the clip.
Jimmy Fallon
Tell us what's happening right now.
Marco Rubio
Yeah, I'm pouring for you. I'm pouring for you as a sign of respect because I'm a fan.
Jimmy Fallon
So come on, bud.
Right back to you.
So what we do is we take
Marco Rubio
these, and these are Korean chopsticks. And they're metal. They're good for non single use. They get washed so they're environmentally conscious. We put them just like this on top of the drink of the beer. Okay. All right, hold on. Let's put this a little bit down this way.
Jimmy Fallon
Okay.
Marco Rubio
All right. So the idea is we're going to rest this shot glass on top of the chopsticks like that. Okay. And you want to rest it in such a way that the chopsticks are kind of on the edge of the shot glass. You got that?
Jimmy Fallon
I think so.
Marco Rubio
What we're gonna do is we're gonna pound on the desk. All right?
Jimmy Fallon
Okay.
Marco Rubio
And if we're lucky, that shot glass is gonna drop into the beer. And then we pick up the beer. We say a Korean toast by saying combae.
Jimmy Fallon
Combe.
Marco Rubio
Yeah, exactly.
Jimmy Fallon
Okay.
Marco Rubio
And we down it in one go, as Koreans call it. One shot.
Jimmy Fallon
Here we go, bud. Ready? Thank you for coming back. It's good to see you. Ready?
Max Verstappen
Ready?
Jimmy Fallon
Yep. One. One, Two, three.
Woo. Come back. Come there, come there. Daniel dae kim k. Everything begins streaming may 9th on hbo max and the cnnf. We'll be right back. My thanks to Ronnie Wood, Mo Gordon, Daniel Day Kim.
