Jimmy Fallon
From Studio 6P in Rockefeller's center in the heart of New York City, it's a Tonight show starring Jimmy Fallon. Tonight joins Jimmy is guests Sofia Rheinara, Michael McKean, Maren Morris. And featuring the legendary Ruth Rude. 2133. And now, here he is, Jimmy Jes. Come on.
Tariq Trotter
That's fun.
Jimmy Fallon
That's fun. Thank you very much. Enjoy yourself. Thank you. Thank you. Enjoy yourself. Welcome, everybody. Welcome to the Tonight Show. You're here. You made it. Thank you for watching at home. Well, guys, everyone's talking about this. The White House said that the royal family of Qatar is giving President TRUMP A $400 million luxury jet that he will use as Air Force One and then keep once he leaves office. Everyone's rightfully focused on the plane, but to me, the big headline is that he'll eventually leave office. He will. He said. All right, relax. Enjoy yourselves.
Peter Bressler
Yeah.
Jimmy Fallon
The 89 passenger luxury plane has wood finishes, custom carpets, and gold walls. The only thing it doesn't have is a way to safely land at Newark Airport. That's the only thing it doesn't have. The White House is accepting this massive gift. It's raising a lot of ethical questions. So Trump put out a video to explain this. Watch.
Donald Trump
This is President Trump. And some people are freaking out over my new jet from Qatar. So I wanted to clear up any concerns by explaining the deal. You see, it's all part of a bilateral relationship improving both entities. And when my presidency is over, I will keep the plane in an effort to secure transportation effectively and legally. Look, at the end of the day, this deal is super kind, extremely thoughtful charity helping your air Force.
Sofia Vergara
Bye.
Jimmy Fallon
Yeah, it's very interesting how you put that out. You have some more political news. Today, Trump signed an executive order to reduce prescription drug prices by up to 80%. Now, this would have a dramatic effect on the pharmaceutical industry. It is a complex issue. So here to help us break it down is our medical correspondent, Peter Bressler.
Peter Bressler
Peter, thanks for having me.
Jimmy Fallon
Jimmy. Peter. So can you explain what this means for consumers?
Peter Bressler
Of course. So let's say, for instance, Jimmy, you want to get a prescription for Ozempic.
Jimmy Fallon
Okay. But to be clear. But to be clear, I'm not on Ozempic. But, yeah, sorry. Go.
Peter Bressler
Oh, totally, totally. No, we believe you. Just an example.
Jimmy Fallon
Good.
Peter Bressler
So, anyway, you, Jimmy Fallon, are desperate to get your hands on Ozempic.
Jimmy Fallon
Sorry to SAP you again, but maybe we can just use a different example.
Peter Bressler
Yeah, no problem. Jimmy. New example. So let's say, Jimmy, you are on the phone with your Local pharmacy, and you're shouting, I need my Wagovi.
Jimmy Fallon
No, no, no. That's the same thing as Ozempic.
Peter Bressler
Interesting you would know that.
Jimmy Fallon
Just use a different person.
Peter Bressler
Let's say Tariq is at his doctor's office being prescribed medication for his cholesterol.
Jimmy Fallon
That's a much better example.
Peter Bressler
Yeah, and while. So while the doctor is out of the room, Tariq gets a frantic text from you, Jimmy, that says, would your doctor get me a prescription for Mounjaro?
Jimmy Fallon
Come on, dude.
Peter Bressler
I know, I know. It's like, why would you text Tariq when you can just talk to your own doctor?
Jimmy Fallon
No, no, that wasn't my issue with the example. Just tell us this. What are the pros and cons of this executive order?
Peter Bressler
Well, many are worried that this would negatively affect innovations in medicine. But on the flip side, in the short term, prices might drop significantly, which is great news for anyone not on Ozempic.
Jimmy Fallon
I'm not on Ozempic.
Peter Bressler
Look, we totally believe you.
Jimmy Fallon
Stop winking at me. Let's move on. Our medical correspondent, everyone. Turn him off the feed. No, get him off the feed. Well, guys, over the weekend, the chaos at Newark Airport continued as air traffic controllers lost contact with planes again. Yeah, it's never good when you get ghosted by your air traffic controller. Yeah, everyone's still talking about the new Pope. Being an American from Chicago. That's a big thing. Yes, and I saw that a lot of news stations have been talking to Pope Leo's brother. Watch this. If we do get over there and do get to meet him, I'm still gonna treat him like my little brother. I'll give him a hug. I'll say, rob, you idiot, what have you done? Take his hat off and give him a noogie. Somehow, the only person more powerful than the Pope is the Pope's older brother. Pope, stop hitting yourself. Pope, stop hitting yourself. Pope, stop hitting your. Oh, and this is cool. Apparently, Pope Leo is a big fan of the Chicago White Sox. Yeah, and people actually spotted him in the TV broadcast of a White Sox World Series game from 2005. Check this out.
Michael McKean
They're two strikes away from a win here in 2005 in game one.
Jimmy Fallon
With Jenks on the mound, that's the poke.
Michael McKean
And Everett at the plate.
Jimmy Fallon
That's the Poke. Well, I guess he was holding up size during the game.
Michael McKean
Really?
Jimmy Fallon
Yeah. Take a look at some of these. For instance, he had a sign said, skip work to be here. Don't tell my boss. God.
Sofia Vergara
Wow.
Jimmy Fallon
Yeah. Up next, his next one said, ugh dude in front of me is wearing a giant hat. Those people are the worst. Then this one said, surprisingly, I'm not a Cardinals fan.
Sofia Vergara
Wow.
Jimmy Fallon
College of right. Then. Then this one said, surprisingly, I'm not a Padres fan. That's also interesting. Then this one said, surprisingly, I'm not an Angels fan. And finally this one said, what is it like to get the third base? That just happened. Brought a lot of signs. Brought a lot of signs with them to the game. Bob Marker.
Peter Bressler
And many signs.
Jimmy Fallon
Yeah. Well, get this. ESPN just announced that the name of their new streaming service is called espn. Here now to discuss via satellite is ESPN creative director Matthew Farnham. Matthew. Hi, Jimmy. Great to be here. Matthew, take us through your creative process and what made you decide for the name of the app? For sure.
Peter Bressler
For sure.
Jimmy Fallon
So basically, I used the name of the network. There you go. ESPN's creative director, everybody. Me. Well, some more big sports news. NBC just announced that Michael Jordan will contribute to the NBA coverage next season. Wow. Between this and the Pope, Chicago's like, omg, Best week ever. Guys, I'm so excited. Sofia Vergara is here tonight. She is the best.
Tariq Trotter
Yeah, man. You know, I agree, Jimmy, but I.
Jimmy Fallon
Hear people have trouble spelling her name. Yeah, Tariq, I've heard that too. Maybe a song would help them out. Sofia Vergara she's modern fam and she's.
Tariq Trotter
A big starra so here's a jam.
Jimmy Fallon
But spelling her name can be a challenge.
Tariq Trotter
So listen to us. Cause you know we got talent. S, O, F, I, a V, E, R, G A, R, A Sofia Vergara.
Jimmy Fallon
We spellin Sofia Vergara.
Tariq Trotter
Well, first take an F Then you add an O. Then you add an F and not a ph, bro.
Jimmy Fallon
And next you add an I then you add an A.
Tariq Trotter
Okay, first part's done. Let's do the last name. V then E, then R, then G, then A, then R then A. Okay.
Jimmy Fallon
He treater.
Tariq Trotter
He's Jimmy Fallon. Now go watch some real America's Got Talent.
Jimmy Fallon
Three trotter, everybody. You killed it. Sofia Vergara, everybody am I. And finally, the list of the most popular baby names in the US Was just released this year. The most common first name is Liam. Ooh. Yep. And for the eighth year in a row, the most common last name is Musk. We have a great show.
Tariq Trotter
Give it up for those chilling, grilling like a villain. Demeaning the four. That's better. You willing? I do whatever is clever. Take a loss, never enterprise upper coming off as a munch.
Jimmy Fallon
What a Tonight she is a very talented actress who's back for the new season of America's Got talent, which premieres May 27 at 8pm on NBC and streams the next day on Peacock. Sofia Vergara is here. Come on. Plus, he is a comedy legend and Emmy nominated actor who stars in the Broadway revival of Glengarry Glen Ross, which is Running now through June 28th at the Palace Theater. Michael McKeon is joining us. Come on. One of my all time faves. The best. And she's a Grammy winning artist whose new album Dreamsicle is out now. Maren Morris is here to talk. Maren Morris. Hey, guys. I want to give a quick shout out, if I can, to our very own Questlove. He directed, he directed a new documentary, a story on Hulu called Sly Lives. It's fantastic, by the way. It's about Sly Stone. And this is the soundtrack here. It is a great movie, it's great music. So if you see it in stores, pick up a copy today. Actually, our studio audience won't have to do that because tonight you're all going home with your very own copy of the Sly Lives soundtrack. My thanks to Questlove and our friends at Sony Music. Thank you, buddy. Thank you. Great job with it. Fantastic. Stick around, everybody. Back with Sofia Vergara, everybody.
Tariq Trotter
Come on back.
Jimmy Fallon
Our first guest is a very talented actress. She's back for season 20 of America's Got Talent, which premieres May 27 at 8pm on NBC and streams the next day on Peacock. Please welcome Sofia Vergara. You sit down. I'm just excited that you're here.
Sofia Vergara
You were trying to make me dance more.
Jimmy Fallon
No, I know I was. I didn't know.
Sofia Vergara
Sit down.
Jimmy Fallon
It's okay. Thanks for having me back. Welcome back. I love having you on the show.
Sofia Vergara
Thank you for having me back.
Jimmy Fallon
And happy belated Mother's Day, by the way.
Sofia Vergara
Gracia. Gracias. Having a rough day, but it's fun. It's good. You were. I'm having allergies. It's like I got to New York, I get super excited. I want to do everything when I land in New York. I went to the park this morning, didn't took my, you know, the thing.
Jimmy Fallon
Claritin.
Sofia Vergara
For Claritin. And then now I'm like all puffy, runny eyes, everything.
Jimmy Fallon
If that's puffy, you look fantastic. Oh, my God. For me, I'm happy. You look fantastic. If you don't look puffy at all. Yeah. Did you have a great Mother's Day?
Sofia Vergara
I had a very Weird. Mother's Day because I was traveling yesterday on the plane. So on Saturday, I went out with Manolo for lunch. My son.
Jimmy Fallon
Yes.
Sofia Vergara
And because we couldn't celebrate yesterday.
Jimmy Fallon
No. What is your perfect Mother's Day gift? If anyone got you a. What would Manolo get you?
Sofia Vergara
I mean, I guess I have to say the classics. Like flowers, chocolates, chocolates, diamonds. The classics. I like the classics.
Jimmy Fallon
The diamonds. Unbelievable. Can you tell me if this is a true story? I read this somewhere that you don't. You don't know. You don't use, like, food delivery apps like whatever it is, Uber Eats or grubhub. So here's what I heard. You do. Don't. And I heard that you leave your son a voice memo, and he orders it from Uber Eats or whatever or grubhub and has it. He has it delivered to your house.
Sofia Vergara
He wants to kill me. Because sometimes he's, like, in Europe or he's, like, in a nightclub.
Jimmy Fallon
So you call and you go, hey, can you get me?
Sofia Vergara
I'm like, manolo. I want an empanada from Manolo.
Jimmy Fallon
So he has to order it.
Sofia Vergara
He orders it for me. I'm not very good with. With the technology.
Jimmy Fallon
So that's the way you do it when you order. That's so funny. I've never heard of someone doing that. What a great son. Manolo. Shout out. That's great. Normally, every time you come on the show. And thank you again for being on the show. We love having you on. I always make you play a game.
Sofia Vergara
Yeah, Some stupid game or some American game that I don't know how to play.
Jimmy Fallon
All right, so now. But this time you brought a game for us to play.
Sofia Vergara
Yes, because I didn't want it to go through the same situation. I have a game for you.
Jimmy Fallon
Oh, you have a game for me. Okay, you're gonna quiz me on Colombian phrases.
Sofia Vergara
Well, we'll see. They're not all phrases. They're also words.
Jimmy Fallon
Okay. Words as well. Okay. Yeah, I think I'm gonna be terrible.
Sofia Vergara
The first one is Guayabo. Why are you looking at my mouth like you're gonna see the.
Jimmy Fallon
Yeah, I want to see the secret. Yeah, the way you're pronouncing. Say it again.
Sofia Vergara
Guayabo.
Jimmy Fallon
Because hearing it and seeing is different.
Sofia Vergara
Okay. Yeah. It's a very bad hangover. A very sexy man or a very. No. Yes, those two. What is it?
Jimmy Fallon
What's the third choice? Guayabo.
Sofia Vergara
Guayabo.
Jimmy Fallon
Guayabo.
Sofia Vergara
Okay. Very bad.
Jimmy Fallon
You don't want to be like, guayab. This is not you. You're like, hey, guayab.
Sofia Vergara
No, that's, like, in Italian.
Jimmy Fallon
Oh, yeah.
Sofia Vergara
Not Italian.
Jimmy Fallon
Italian. Guayabo.
Sofia Vergara
Exactly.
Jimmy Fallon
Yeah, but this Colombian is exactly very bad. Hangover.
Sofia Vergara
What is it? You're gonna lose. Yes.
Jimmy Fallon
Are you playing me right now? You're playing me? I'm gonna say guayavo. Guaya vo. I'm gonna say a very sexy man.
Sofia Vergara
No.
Jimmy Fallon
How'd you know I was gonna say that?
Sofia Vergara
Because. What? I'm not the only one bad at games, I think.
Jimmy Fallon
Sorry. Give me another. Give me another one. I only one down. Give me another one. I can do better. I can come back.
Sofia Vergara
Okay.
Jimmy Fallon
Come on. Come on.
Sofia Vergara
The next one is chemamera. Chemamera doesn't mean what a pain in the ass or what a good mom.
Jimmy Fallon
Que maira?
Sofia Vergara
Say chemamera.
Jimmy Fallon
What a pain.
Sofia Vergara
Yes.
Jimmy Fallon
Really?
Sofia Vergara
Yes.
Jimmy Fallon
Thank you.
Sofia Vergara
Yeah, yeah.
Jimmy Fallon
All right, good.
Sofia Vergara
And the third one, It's a word also that is very used in Colombia. See, your arms move like a Barbie or. Or a milf. Wait, it's not really a milf, actually. Yeah, kind of.
Jimmy Fallon
Oh, okay. Yes.
Sofia Vergara
Which one is it? You move your arm like a Barbie. Coochie Barbie, or.
Jimmy Fallon
I think coochie Barbie is too on the nose to have anything to do with Barbie. So I'm gonna say it's A. It's B. Right. See, I can go to Colombia. We can hang out with each other.
Sofia Vergara
You don't win anything.
Jimmy Fallon
Yes. Come on. Thank you for doing that last time.
Sofia Vergara
Never win anything when I come here either.
Jimmy Fallon
So it's like you win great experiences.
Sofia Vergara
Yes.
Jimmy Fallon
That's what you win. We're all experiencing. We're all getting a gift right now to have you on. See, we're all winning those.
Peter Bressler
See?
Jimmy Fallon
Can we talk about how great you were last time you were on? We talked about Griselda, and then it's on Netflix, and then, bang, you get nominated for a Golden Globe and you get nominated for an Emmy. Congratulations.
Sofia Vergara
I didn't win any of it.
Jimmy Fallon
What?
Sofia Vergara
I didn't win any of it.
Jimmy Fallon
Yeah, it doesn't matter. It doesn't matter. It does not mean anything. The nominations. That's an honor.
Sofia Vergara
Jodie Foster took everything.
Jimmy Fallon
Jodie Foster. She's amazing. Of course. Yeah.
Sofia Vergara
But it doesn't matter. I mean, did you.
Jimmy Fallon
I thought I saw you whisper something.
Sofia Vergara
I tried. I tried to stop her in the middle of the Golden Globes, but it was too late.
Jimmy Fallon
What did you say to her?
Sofia Vergara
Give it to me. She said, what did you say? Give it to me.
Jimmy Fallon
Why Not. And she was like, no. I don't know.
Sofia Vergara
She took everything.
Jimmy Fallon
She took everything. Sorry. Jodie Foster. Yeah. She took everything. Come on. But I think you're so good. Will you be back for more? I mean, can I see more?
Sofia Vergara
I would have been back for more for what? They're not gonna give me the award.
Jimmy Fallon
Yes, but you're good. You're a good dramatic actor.
Sofia Vergara
I mean, I had fun, but it was very difficult. I mean, there's nothing like doing, you know, Modern Family and comedy.
Jimmy Fallon
You're great at that.
Sofia Vergara
It was a lot of work.
Jimmy Fallon
You're great at dramatic.
Sofia Vergara
Yes, but it's a lot of work.
Jimmy Fallon
I know, but come on, that's good. You get.
Sofia Vergara
No, maybe I do dramatic. I don't know if I want to do, you know, with the prosthetics.
Jimmy Fallon
That was so good.
Sofia Vergara
Okay, but then why don't you do it? Because it's super difficult.
Jimmy Fallon
It's too much work.
Sofia Vergara
It's difficult.
Jimmy Fallon
It is a lot of work.
Sofia Vergara
It's a lot of work. I mean, and I was not used to it. I did 11 years of modern Family, which was like a pleasure. Joking, laughing, you know, I learned my lines while I was in hair makeup here. I had to learn the monologues. I had to. You know. I told you. I had to learn how to do cocaine. I had to smoke. I had to.
Jimmy Fallon
You know, this sounds really hard. I mean, that's amazing. You're a method actor. That's right. I didn't know that.
Peter Bressler
So know that.
Sofia Vergara
It was a lot of work.
Jimmy Fallon
Yeah. And then rehab and all that stuff. Yeah. Let's talk about America's Got Talent. Yes. It is back for season 20 already. Oh, my God. May 27th. It is your fifth season. You're really good at this. When someone auditions for that show, do you have. Is this when you have to put on your acting face and, like, you can't really react if you don't like it? You have to keep a smile and be like.
Sofia Vergara
Sometimes it's difficult.
Jimmy Fallon
It is.
Sofia Vergara
Because you don't want to hurt feelings. And, you know, there's also kids that come to the show. There's people that really believe in themselves that they believe they deserve to be there, and they don't. And it's super hard to tell them that, you know, in front of millions of people watching. You don't want to be unfair.
Jimmy Fallon
Yes.
Sofia Vergara
But sometimes you have to be. Do what you have to do.
Jimmy Fallon
Last time, I think, or two times, you were on the show and you told me that you had enough of people playing the ukulele.
Sofia Vergara
I hate the ukulele.
Jimmy Fallon
The what? Say you can't say it. Say it again.
Sofia Vergara
For what? I'm going to say it then. You didn't?
Jimmy Fallon
No, I love it. What do they play?
Sofia Vergara
Uk?
Jimmy Fallon
You don't enjoy a nice ukulele? Come out.
Sofia Vergara
No, I think it's. What is the ukulele? It's like a little guitar. But it's not big, it's not little. It's nothing. It's. What is it?
Jimmy Fallon
So you had enough of that?
Sofia Vergara
Yeah, I don't like it. But I haven't had ukulele's in a long time.
Jimmy Fallon
Because of. You said it on our show. Maybe.
Sofia Vergara
What do you mean?
Jimmy Fallon
Because you said you didn't.
Sofia Vergara
No, I'm not the boss of agt. It's like nobody cares what I say. They come, the contestant comes.
Jimmy Fallon
What are you talking about? You are the boss. No applesauce. Yes, but you say go. I don't care.
Sofia Vergara
No, I just been lucky. Maybe it's not popping popular anymore. Thank God. So I haven't had it.
Jimmy Fallon
I want to have somebody blow you away with a nice ukulele song. They could do it and you pull the cool.
Sofia Vergara
Unless it's some hot men. But it's like, oh what? Guayabo is hungover.
Jimmy Fallon
Hey. And you have the golden buzzer too?
Sofia Vergara
I have the. What do you mean I have the golden.
Jimmy Fallon
Well, when you go and use the golden buzzer, who do you.
Sofia Vergara
Yeah, I give the golden buzzer. I don't have it. I give it.
Jimmy Fallon
You give the gold?
Michael McKean
Yeah.
Jimmy Fallon
You don't have it?
Sofia Vergara
Give the golden buzzer.
Jimmy Fallon
I was saying you don't have it with you all the time?
Sofia Vergara
No, I don't have it here, but I do the. I give the golden buzzer two times now. In the season before it was used to be one. Now it's two times, which is a little bit too. I don't know. I love it and I don't love it because then it means you have to find again once you have already felt, you know your golden buzzer to do that again. And it's difficult.
Jimmy Fallon
But you're good at it. You have good eyes and good ears. You had good taste.
Sofia Vergara
Well, obviously I've been there for six, six years now. I'm good at it.
Jimmy Fallon
That's good too. I mean. Yeah, you're very good at that. I want to show everyone a clip. Here's Sofia Vergara in 20.
Sofia Vergara
You don't even know how to say my name. Still, like you were saying. That people are having trouble. You're the one we're having problem with.
Jimmy Fallon
Ukulele.
Sofia Vergara
I keep saying my name wrong, so.
Jimmy Fallon
Usually I say Sofia Vergara, but I changed it tonight to Sofia Vergara.
Sofia Vergara
Sexy.
Jimmy Fallon
Thank you. Sophia Vergara, everybody. Sorry, sorry. I have an Uber for Sofia. We'll be right back with more tonight, everybody.
Tariq Trotter
America's Got Town returns May 27.
Jimmy Fallon
We'll be right back.
Tariq Trotter
What it is Cause of what it was I did what I did. Cause it does what it does. Yo.
Jimmy Fallon
Our next guest is an Emmy nominated actor starring in the revival of the play Glengarry Glen Ross, which is running now through June 28th at the Palace Theater on Broadway. Please welcome Michael McKeon. Ken, welcome back to the show. Thank you. I appreciate you being here. You know, I'm a big fan of yours. I was just talking about. Was it Adrien Van Vorhes?
Michael McKean
Adrien Van Vorhees, yes. He was the musical director of Primetime Glick.
Jimmy Fallon
Primetime Glick with Jiminy Glick. You and Marty sh were unbelievable in that. Oh, my gosh. Amazing. That to make me laugh. That was ridiculous. Do you come up with the name or does.
Michael McKean
No, no, no, no. I was purely a hired gun, but I wore a lot of makeup and that's what we like to do.
Jimmy Fallon
I also want to talk about Spinal Tap while I have you here, but do people just bother you all the time about just talking about it?
Michael McKean
They don't bother me. They do quote me. They know the movie much better than I do.
Jimmy Fallon
They do, yeah.
Michael McKean
Yeah.
Jimmy Fallon
When was the last time you've seen Spinal Tap?
Michael McKean
Oh, geez. Start to finish. We actually watched it with a guy who's. Who wrote this book with us. You can buy a book now.
Jimmy Fallon
Wow.
Michael McKean
Yes. It's actually. It's one of those, like, ace novels where you flip it over and people on this side think you're an idiot because you're holding the book upside down, but you're actually reading the front half of the book anyway. It's called A Fine Line between Stupid and Clever. And the other side is called Smell the Book. So it's up to you.
Jimmy Fallon
Did you have any idea that Spinal Tap would be such a cult classic or.
Michael McKean
We just wanted to get it finished.
Jimmy Fallon
Really?
Michael McKean
Oh, yeah, yeah. We had a tiny budget and we had no time and. And we called our friends and said. We said, do you like to improvise? And they said, yeah. And they came and they. They shot for a day and they went home. It was great.
Jimmy Fallon
Who were you closest with? Like, did You. Were you Chris Christopher, guest friend? Were you Harry Shears?
Michael McKean
I had no. I'd known Chris since 1967.
Jimmy Fallon
Wow.
Michael McKean
We were roommates. We. We were at NYU together, and we started writing songs together and stuff and making each other laugh. And I didn't meet Harry until three years later when I came out to la.
Jimmy Fallon
Wow.
Michael McKean
Yeah.
Jimmy Fallon
And how did Rob Reiner get involved?
Michael McKean
It's. Listen, it's all in the book.
Jimmy Fallon
Oh, is it? Okay, good.
Michael McKean
Yeah, yeah, yeah. 1. 1/2 is about the making of the film, and the other half is about the band as a real thing, which they ate.
Jimmy Fallon
You know they're not. Yeah. Gosh, it's the funniest interview I have. Everything. Oh, wait. In depth.
Michael McKean
But it's in depth.
Jimmy Fallon
But it's so brilliantly said in whatever you make up or improvise, it's now quotable. Every band who goes on tour has to have a copy of. Of Spinal Tap or watch it on the tour bus. It's just part of the vernacular. It's nice, it's good. And there's a rumor that I heard. First of all, I heard that there's a sequel coming out.
Michael McKean
That's not just a rumor, it's a project. And you can see it on September 12th of this year, if you want. The title is Spinal Cap 2 the end continues.
Jimmy Fallon
Oh, my God.
Michael McKean
Because the title Grumpy Old Men was already taken.
Jimmy Fallon
Here you are as the character David St. Hubb on location.
Michael McKean
Oh, yes.
Jimmy Fallon
Look at this.
Michael McKean
Yeah, he's between gigs now, but he does. He works out with a mariachi band very briefly. And so I got to write some heavy metal lyrics in Spanish, so.
Jimmy Fallon
And I heard that our very own Questlove is in the sequel. Is this true?
Michael McKean
Well, I guess you can tell him. Yeah. Yeah.
Jimmy Fallon
I made it. Nice. Yes. You made the cut. I made the cut.
Michael McKean
He's very funny.
Jimmy Fallon
He is funny.
Michael McKean
He's very funny.
Jimmy Fallon
Because I know Spinal Tap has a terrible reputation with their drummers.
Michael McKean
Yeah, yeah. Well, that's the thing. The thing is that they're interviewing new drummers and nobody really wants to take the gig. It's just too. Because every drummer has passed away, unfortunately.
Jimmy Fallon
Yeah. So some mid tour, some excuses, excuses. But also there's like. There's all sorts of crazy cameos I heard. I mean, you can't confirm or deny, but Paul McCartney, maybe, I heard.
Michael McKean
Maybe.
Jimmy Fallon
Maybe we don't know. Sir Elton John, maybe. Maybe we don't know. Anyways, I cannot wait to see that. And. Yeah, congrats on that. And I also Heard you were. They're going to re release Spinal Tap in. In theaters.
Michael McKean
Yes, July 5th. Louder than ever.
Jimmy Fallon
So it's called Louder Than Ever?
Michael McKean
No, no, it's just called the same movie. We changed the title. Sorry, but I think.
Jimmy Fallon
Are you still saying the title?
Michael McKean
No, it's a little louder. Yes. It's all a hyphenate.
Jimmy Fallon
Oh, my God. It's the longest title of reckoning. I can't wait to see that as well. I want to talk about this. You're back on Broadway. Here you go. Right here. This is a revival of David Mamet's Pulitzer Prize winning play, Glengarry Glen Ross.
Michael McKean
Yeah.
Jimmy Fallon
This is your. This is an amazing cast in here. Kieran Culkin.
Michael McKean
Yes.
Jimmy Fallon
Bob Odenkirk.
Michael McKean
Yes.
Jimmy Fallon
Bill Burr.
Michael McKean
Yes.
Jimmy Fallon
Yeah. Bob Odenkirk got nominated for Tony.
Michael McKean
Yes, he did.
Jimmy Fallon
Fantastic. That's good. They were both. I had Bill and Kieran on the show and they're both raving about you. Well, yeah, they do love it. How do we set up. Congrats on the success. How do we set up the play?
Michael McKean
You know, it's about the smallest little pinpoint of. Of American enterprise. It's selling crap real estate in Florida to people who live in Chicago. So it's shooting fish in a barrel. But it's all about, you know, those men and what they do and how they do it to each other on the way out the door.
Jimmy Fallon
And you saw this play originally?
Michael McKean
I saw it in 1986 with Peter Falk in. In Bob Odenkirk's role, one of the greatest actors who ever lived. My opinion. And Joe Mantegna, who had created the role of Ricky Roma a couple of years before. It's really, it's, it's a. It's an amazing play. Apologies in advance for the salty language.
Jimmy Fallon
Okay, yeah. All right. A little salty language.
Michael McKean
But hey, can't quote the play.
Jimmy Fallon
No, you can't quote the play, but it's gonna be. But congrats on the success and thanks for being here.
Michael McKean
My pleasure, buddy.
Jimmy Fallon

Jimmy Fallon
Yeah, move in. Let's talk About Dreamsicle. It's out. Congratulations. It just came out.
Maren Morris
Yeah. She's two days old. She's only two days old.
Sofia Vergara
She's fresh.
Jimmy Fallon
She's a little baby. Dreamsicle. Congrats on this. Did you always know you're gonna call it Dreamsicle?
Maren Morris
It was, like, one of the last songs added to the record. So I think just in that 11th hour, you're like, this is it. Yeah. This feels vibey.
Jimmy Fallon
You felt it?
Maren Morris
Yeah.
Jimmy Fallon
What was it gonna be if it wasn't Dreamsicle?
Maren Morris
Well, it was between Dreamsicle and Holy Smoke. And Dreamsicle.
Jimmy Fallon
To me, Holy smoke would have been so topical.
Maren Morris
Holy Pope. Yeah.
Jimmy Fallon
Yeah. Well, they just smoked. Yeah. You saw the smoke and they named the new Pope. That would have been weird.
Maren Morris
I know.
Jimmy Fallon
Thank goodness you didn't do that.
Maren Morris
It would have been cool for, like, a day. Also, I'm not Catholic, so that would have been, like, confusing as well.
Jimmy Fallon
But I would have figured out a tie in with the Pope or something. Yeah. But at least. But Dreamsicle. Why Dreamsicle? That's your favorite ice cream.
Maren Morris
Yeah. It was like the truck that would come to our cul de sac in Texas. Like, that would be, like, the star of the show that would sell out quick in the summertime. And it also just, like, the whole album is sort of like, post, you know, I got divorced, so I'm talking about things that are, like, very fleeting, and you just trying to remain more present as a human, as a mother, as a songwriter. And so, yeah, calling it Dreamsicle just reminded me of home, but it also reminded me to, like, enjoy something in my hands while I have it and not, like, mourn it before it's melted away.
Jimmy Fallon
Good for you.
Maren Morris
Thanks.
Jimmy Fallon
I love that you also said that. You said the album is a very 70s vibe.
Maren Morris
Yeah. Was listening to a lot of stuff. My mom would play in the house. Loves Fleetwood Mac, loves some, like, disco. Yeah. So it was sort of this dancey meets Laurel Canyon vibe. So that was why the.
Jimmy Fallon
And you did a lot at Electric lady here in the city?
Maren Morris
I did, yeah. I had never recorded or written in New York, like, my entire career. It was always Nashville or la. And then getting to work at Electric lady was just just such a time.
Jimmy Fallon
Who are you working with?
Maren Morris
I was working with Jack Antonoff. And so he's done three.
Tariq Trotter
The best.
Maren Morris
I know. The best.
Jimmy Fallon
We love him.
Maren Morris
And friend of the show.
Jimmy Fallon
Yeah, we love him.
Maren Morris
Yeah. So I was doing like, a whole, like, spring, summer, season of riding with Jack, and then I would just see, like, the most amazing people come in and out. And you just, like, kind of poke your head out of the window on the roof and you're like, oh, hi, Michael Stipe.
Jimmy Fallon
Yeah. I forgot to congratulate you, by the way. You got a Golden Globe nomination for Kiss the Sky. Your song. Thank you. From the Wild Robot. Big hit. Yeah. That was massive.
Maren Morris
I had never written a song for a movie before. And then like, thank God it did really well. Cause I was like, this is it. Like, if it sucks, I'm not doing this ever again.
Jimmy Fallon
No, my gosh, it was great. No, it was beautiful montage in the movie.
Maren Morris
Oh, my gosh.
Jimmy Fallon
Did you take your son to see it?
Sofia Vergara
I did.
Maren Morris
Yeah. So my son Hayes is. He just turned five. Getting to watch it with my son was just so emotional. Just instant tears. Cause, you know, he's old enough now. If he hears my voice, he's like, that's you. And it's in a movie that's like four children and adults. And it was just. Yeah. Really emotional.
Jimmy Fallon
Come on. That's fantastic. You get to do that. Yeah, he gets to do. And now on July 12th, you're kicking off a global tour. Come on now. This is massive. What can people expect from the Dreamsicle Tour?
Maren Morris
I mean, kind of like you were saying, like, very 70s vibes. I'm trying to figure out how to get a bar on stage. Like a working bar.
Jimmy Fallon
Wait, what?
Maren Morris
Yeah, we're gonna figure it out.
Jimmy Fallon
You're gonna put a bar on the stage that everyone can use?
Maren Morris
Yeah, that's my dream is like, I would love to be able to make a drink on stage in the middle of a song or have, like. If friends or family come to the show in that city, they just drunkenly wander up during summer. I don't know.
Jimmy Fallon
We'll just.
Maren Morris
Every night will be different.
Jimmy Fallon
