From Studio 16, Rockefeller center in the heart of New York City, it's a Tonight show starring Jimmy Fallon. Tonight joins Jimmy and his guests, Cardi B, Alex Earl, Tyrese Maxey. And featuring the legendary Ruth Cruz. 2271. And now, here he is, Jimmy.
Oh, wow.
That's what I'm talking about. Wow. I appreciate it, guys. Thank you very much.
Welcome, welcome, welcome, welcome, welcome to the Tonight Show.
You're here. You made it. Thank you for watching at home.
Let's get to some news. Well, guys, the big story continues to be the war in the Middle East. Yep. We've now been stuck in Iran for almost a month, which is also the current wait time at airport security. Yeah. It's now week four of the war and it still feels like Trump has no idea how to end it. Today he announced that he's sending in the guy from Reacher. Yeah, this is going to be a quick regime change, but we're still there. Trump's like, Iran was supposed to be a spring fling, but we've become Instagram official. But today, Trump said that J.D. vance and Marco Rubio are now helping in talks to end the war. Yeah, this is like when the cat in the hat makes a huge mess and brings in Thing one and Thing two. Yeah. Trump said he's been negotiating with Iran to end the war, but admitted that he hasn't spoken with their Supreme Leader. He wants to, though, just listen to what Trump's been saying about it behind closed doors.
Can I call the Supreme Leader of Iran?
No, he won't take your call, sir.
Can I text him instead? No. Email? No WhatsApp. No LinkedIn. No Tinder? No slide into his DMs.
No.
Smoke signals.
No.
Message in a bottle. No Send a Harry Potter hour. No. Communicate with our ponytails like in Avatar.
No.
Hold a boombox outside his window like in say anything.
Tyrese Maxey
No.
Jimmy Fallon
Hold up cue cards on his front porch like in love. Actually, no. Talk to him through a glass wall using a laptop translator like in Project Hail Mary. No. I love that movie.
Same, same. You said that.
Visit his farm in Animal Crossing.
No.
Yell incredibly loud so you can hear me.
I mean, sure.
Ayatollah.
Did it work? No. He tried.
Tyrese Maxey
He tried.

Some more news from Washington last night. The Senate confirmed Mark Wayne Mullen as the new Secretary of Homeland Security. The vote was split in half, just like his first name should be. I saw that Trump just installed a statue of Christopher Columbus on the White House grounds. Some people are upset about it. Check out what they're saying. For instance, this person said, I don't think it's appropriate to have a statue of Columbus at the White House. This person said, I agree there are other historical figures more worthy of a statue. Then Kevin Hart's wax statue said, I love it. In fact, I think everyone should talk about that statue and no other statues right now. Then this person said, wait, was that supposed to be Kevin Hart? Then Kevin Hart's wax statue said, let's focus on Columbus. Then this person said, it looks like Chance the rapper went as Mr. T for Halloween. Then Kevin Hart's wax statue said, please stop. Then this person said, it looks like Jake from State Farm joined a motorcycle gang. Then Kevin Hart's wax statue said, I am begging. Then this person said, it looks like Lucas from Stranger Things auditioning to be kid and play. And Kevin Hart's statue said, all right, that's enough. Can we move on? And finally, President Trump said, we're going to replace the Columbus statue with the Kevin Hart statue. I didn't expect him to do that. And finally, everybody, Samsung customers are upset after the company started running commercials on some of their smart refrigerators. Yeah, it's not a great feeling when you walk up to your fridge and it starts playing ads for Ozempic. We have a great show, everyone.
Give it up for the Ruth Rideout. Welcome, welcome, welcome, everybody.
What a show we have for you tonight. She is a Grammy win who's currently on her Little Miss Drama tour. She also has a new hair care line called Grow Good, which is on sale April 15.

Social media personality Alex Earle is joining us as well tonight.
Got some news. He is the starting guard for the Philadelphia 76ers. NBA All Star Tyrese Maxey is here tonight.
T Rall, we'll be right back with Cardi B, everybody.
Tyrese Maxey
All she ever seen to do was play it cool for real.
Jimmy Fallon
Our first guest is a Grammy winner
who sold over 100 million records.
Cardi B
Wow.
Jimmy Fallon
She's currently on her Little Miss Drama tour and she has a new hair care line called Grow Good, which goes on sale April 15th. Everyone, please welcome Cardi B.
You look fantastic. Thank you.
Welcome back to the show. Welcome back to New York City. I always love having you here. Thanks for coming through.
Cardi B
Well, thank you. Thank you for having me.
Jimmy Fallon
I want to talk about this, your tour, Little Miss Drama Selling out. Crazy. This is your first headlining tour.
Cardi B
Yes.
Jimmy Fallon
Sold out. Madison Square Garden tomorrow and third.
Sold out, Sold out. You can't get a ticket. You can't get a ticket. You can't Get a ticket.
Cardi B
You can't get a ticket.
Jimmy Fallon
No. But you're from New York. How does that feel to sell at Madison Square Garden?
Cardi B
You know, it's really exciting. But, like, today I've been very annoyed because it's like Everybody wants tickets. 40 people from my mom's side, 30 people from my dad's side, all my friends, friends from high school, friend for the projects, friend for the Bronx, friend from Brooklyn, friends. It's just I'm so overwhelmed.
Jimmy Fallon
Yeah, of course.
Cardi B
Yes.
Jimmy Fallon
What can people expect from this tour?
Cardi B
Fun.
Jimmy Fallon
Yeah.
Cardi B
Everybody that. Yeah. I make sure that it's like a party.
Jimmy Fallon
A party?
Cardi B
Yes. Like, if I could get free liquor out, I would, but.
Jimmy Fallon
Yeah.
Tyrese Maxey
Yeah.
Jimmy Fallon
So they had to make money somewhere.
Cardi B
I have to make the money back.
Jimmy Fallon
Yeah, yeah, yeah. But during the concert, you fly over the crowd at one point.
Cardi B
Yes.
Jimmy Fallon
Now, we've discussed this. You have a fear of heights.
Cardi B
Yeah.
Jimmy Fallon
But, Cardi, why are you doing this?
Cardi B
For the plot.
Jimmy Fallon
For the what?
Cardi B
For the plot.
Jimmy Fallon
Wow.
Yeah. For the plot.
Cardi B
For the plot.
Jimmy Fallon
So you're doing it for the plot because you think, this is it. I'm gonna just do it. And what is your mindset? Is your eyes closed?
Cardi B
Yeah. I'd be like, oh, my God, this is gonna gag. It's gonna gag them. You just have to do it. Like, it's like you just gotta always be over the top, even if that means risking your own life.
Jimmy Fallon
Come on now. That's what I'm talking about. Last time you were here in Graceless, with your presence, it was the day that your album Am I the Drama? Came out, and it became the fastest album ever to go platinum. And it was your second number one album.
Cardi B. Come on now.
That's. That's what I'm talking about. You've been making music now for a decade or over a decade. Is there any advice that you would give to yourself when you were first starting out? Now that you know, like, I would
Cardi B
tell myself, why are you arguing with people on Twitter? Why are you doing that?
Jimmy Fallon
Girl, why?
Cardi B
I don't know. But it was fun.
Jimmy Fallon
Yeah, it was.
Cardi B
I had a good time.
Jimmy Fallon
And now you learned you don't do that anymore.
Cardi B
That is why I reduced.
Jimmy Fallon
Yeah, Just do quick little arguments.
Cardi B
Yeah. Like, before, I would, like, argue for, like, 13 hours.
Jimmy Fallon
Wow. That's a lot of time.
Cardi B
I know.
Jimmy Fallon
Yeah. And you don't need that.
Cardi B
Yeah, yeah.
Jimmy Fallon
No, you don't need anything. You're doing great. Yeah. Don't get in those arguments. But now you look at what you're doing. Look at Grow Good. This is your new hair care line. Congratulations on that.
Cardi B
Thank you. Can you grow some hair?
Jimmy Fallon
Yeah, I need to grow some hair.
Tyrese Maxey
You want?
Jimmy Fallon
Yeah. You want me to grow. Well, this is you there.
Cardi B
You know what I'm saying? You still got some. You know what I'm saying? Like, you haven't reached that limit.
Jimmy Fallon
Thank you.
Cardi B
Because, you know, men, out of nowhere, that's when they start like, getting, you know, the B word.
Jimmy Fallon
The B word. Yeah.
Cardi B
Yeah. Cardi.
Jimmy Fallon
B. I don't have any spots. I have a full head of hair. I think I'm just gonna go. I don't even. Like, I have a little grays here and there. I'm.
Cardi B
Me too. I got like seven gray hairs.
Jimmy Fallon
Yeah, I can count them all somewhere. I can count them all somewhere. I can count them all. But I think I'm gonna go full. Just white at one point.
Tyrese Maxey
Like superhero.
Cardi B
Just wait a little bit. You know what I'm saying?
Jimmy Fallon
Wait a little. Yeah.
Cardi B
Cause, like, why do you want to look older so quickly? Like, why? Why do you want to look older so quickly?
Jimmy Fallon
That's true. I don't know.
Cardi B
Why would you want to do that?
Jimmy Fallon
But I also don't want to look that young either.
Cardi B
No, but you want to look hot. You and your hot boy.
Alex Earle
Eric.
Cardi B
Yeah.
Jimmy Fallon
You're not saying anything. I will use Growgood, by the way. And if I do, I will have hair that's Booty length certified.
Cardi B
Yeah. I wonder how you would look with booty length certified hair. You ever had long hair before?
Jimmy Fallon
No. I had long hair once. It was terrible. I always thought. I thought I looked cool, but then I see my face. My face doesn't fit that. No, no. I like. But I like a good, healthy hair. I got a perm once.
Cardi B
Yeah, but you probably look like a sexy Italian with little ponytails.
Jimmy Fallon
A little ponytail?
Alex Earle
Yeah.
Jimmy Fallon
Next time you come on, I'll wear one. I'll let you judge, see if it's good. I love your hair, but I love the name, by the way.
Cardi B
Yeah, Grow Good. Grow good. Grow your hair good.
Jimmy Fallon
And that's. Yeah, just grow your hair good.
Cardi B
Yeah.
Jimmy Fallon
So you came out with this. It's actually not even available yet. It's pre sale right now.
Cardi B
Yes, presale, but pre sale sold out. But it's going to come on April 15. Yes, everything is selling out.
Jimmy Fallon
Oh, my God.
What is going on? So now are people calling you and bothering you? Your family want to grow good now?
Cardi B
Yes. And it's like, girl, I don't even have one for myself. Like, I'm running out of my own product.
Jimmy Fallon
Yeah, I know.
Cardi B
I think it's because it's my Jesus year. I'm a believer. Yes.
Jimmy Fallon
This is your Jesus year.
Cardi B
Yeah. 33.
Alex Earle
Yeah.
Jimmy Fallon
It is a big year. Yeah, 33 was a big year.
Cardi B
Yeah. So, you know, like, I believe in Jesus.
Jimmy Fallon
Yeah.
Cardi B
And it's like, it's like he's blessing me on my Jesus year.
Jimmy Fallon
So this is your Jesus year and you're getting blessed. That's why you're selling at everywhere.
Yeah.
Yeah. But you always said, like, you always wanted to, like, do your own hair. Caroline. I remember, like online, I've seen you do stuff with, like, avocado in your hair.
Cardi B
Yeah, it did some.
Jimmy Fallon
Here it is. Yeah, but then I saw you do one. You put the garlic in your hair and onion.
Alex Earle
Oh.
Cardi B
So let me tell you something. Oh, yeah. Let me tell you something. This is what I'm saying. I put garlic, but I put it too raw on my hair. And for six months straight, every single time I sweat, I. I smell like a pasta bowl. It was gross.
Jimmy Fallon
You know?
Cardi B
Yes.
Jimmy Fallon
Vampires won't bother you.
Cardi B
Well, I am the vampire.
Jimmy Fallon
Oh. Woo. But that's hilarious. So you couldn't do garlic in this?
Cardi B
Yes. No garlic. I would never do that again. No, I would never ever do it again.
Jimmy Fallon
It didn't work out.
Cardi B
No, it didn't work out, you know, because I be doing like rice water. I'd be doing onion water. But this time I decided to go raw garlic, like, I'm like, you know, I don't got time to boil it. And I was smelling like a chicken Caesar salad for six months straight.
Jimmy Fallon
Come on now.
Cardi B
Oh my God, it was so horrible.
Jimmy Fallon
But this smells fantastic. I know. Some of these had a little rosemary in it. Avocado. I did my research.
Cardi B
Avocado, aloe, everything. Yes.
Jimmy Fallon
I love it. You're a great singer. You don't have a jingle for this, do you? For Grow Good.
Cardi B
I haven't made one up yet.
Jimmy Fallon
Do you want to make one up now?
Uh hmm.
Cardi B
Grow goods here. Grow some hair for your big forehead.
Jimmy Fallon
That sounds like something.
I know that sounds like something. I love it. I'm so happy for you. I always love when you come by. Keep crushing it. Selling out shows. Don't stop.
Cardi B. Don't stop. Her haircare line. Grow Good goes back on sale April 15th. And go see Cardi on her Little Miss Drama tour. More Tonight show after the break. Stick around, everybody.
Our next guest is a social media superstar who just announced a big brand new skincare line called Real Actives, which is available March 31st. Please welcome Alex Earle. Wow, we got some fans out there. Alex, Earl, welcome to the Tonight Show. Thanks for being here.
Alex Earle
Thank you for having me.
Jimmy Fallon
You made a huge announcement today that you've been teasing for a while. Fans were hoping you'd release a skincare line.
Alex Earle
Yes.
Jimmy Fallon
And you officially have. Congratulations. Real Actives. Right there. This is one of the bottles right there.
Alex Earle
That's our cleanser.
Jimmy Fallon
That's your cleanser. Let's go back and talk about how this all started. This is 2019 is when you first started.
Alex Earle
Yeah, 2019. I started on TikTok. I mean, no one cared about me, but I was on there for sure. Yeah. I was dancing during the COVID time I had, like.
Jimmy Fallon
Is that what you thought your move was gonna be like? You're the.
Alex Earle
Well, I looked at the people, like, Charlie, she got out to la. I. I can do that for sure. I was trying really hard to do the dances. Breaking a sweat.
Jimmy Fallon
Sorry, d'.
Amelio.
Cardi B
Yeah.
Alex Earle
Didn't get anywhere with that. And then, honestly, I started posting about, like, my skin, my acne, my makeup. And the more I just started to be, like, candid on there, you know, I'd be like, I'm doing an outfit video. I pick up my purse, there's like a cockroach under there. And I was like, oh, my gosh. And I would just share those moments. That might be, like, frowned upon at times, but it was real. So I shared it.
Jimmy Fallon
Great moments. Now you have 13 million followers. Congratulations. That's massive. But one of the. You were one of the originators of the Get Ready with Me videos. That was one of the biggest things. You were one of the OGs to do that. How did that start? Is it again, same thing. You're just like, let me just show you how I'm getting ready?
Alex Earle
Yeah. I mean, I was doing live streams on TikTok, and they were getting more action than my regular videos. I was posting more, so I just sort of made them into videos. And it was a lot of storytelling and, like, crazy college stories at the time and sharing how I was gonna do my acne and cover my skin. And it just sort of like. I think it was the humility and at all in the storytelling. It's like my online diary.
Jimmy Fallon
Yeah. But then they created something called the Alix Earle Effect. I don't know if you've heard this, but it's basically where you post about something and that would immediately sell out.
Alex Earle
Yes.
Jimmy Fallon
It became the Alex Earle Effect. When did you notice that that was the thing?
Cardi B
Oops.
Jimmy Fallon
Like, I just. I just talked about that, and now
Alex Earle
it's sold out, you know? So that was during my senior year of college. I was applying to jobs, and I had an Amazon storefront. That was how I was, like, making my money on the side. And my dad was like, what are you doing on social media? And I was like, just trust me. Like, I'm going to make something work. And I had. I had this room in college with the cockroach, and I didn't have a window in my room, so it was dark in there. But I always wanted to make these videos. So I was looking on Amazon for lights, and I found this light. I posted it, and it just, like, went very viral. And I was so confused. People were calling it the Alex Earl Light. I've been stopped before, and people have been like, you're the lighting company. And I'm like, no, no, I don't own any. No, I'm not. But, yeah, so that was the first time for that.
Jimmy Fallon
We asked you if there was anything in your drafts or your camera roll that you haven't, and maybe you could show us some here on the Tonight show, just between us friends, and we'd like to hear more about just a few people for this first one here. I just want to know the story. What is going on and what are you doing?
Alex Earle
Well, this was a night out in Vegas with my friends, and we wanted to go incognito for the night. We were like, it'll be fun. Let's wear wigs. And first of all, my friends told me I looked really good in this wig before we went out. And I'm not so sure that I did, especially after a night of, you know, drinking.
Jimmy Fallon
I think you do.
I like it. This look.
Alex Earle
Thank you. Thank you.
Jimmy Fallon
Did you have a name for this character?
Alex Earle
I didn't, no. She doesn't need a name. She doesn't need to be remembered. But here she is on the Tonight Show. Whatever.
Jimmy Fallon
Yeah. How about this one here?
Alex Earle
This one is really just near and dear to my heart here.
Jimmy Fallon
Wow.
Alex Earle
This was after Halloween. I dressed up as the Cheshire Cat, and I was going for a very sexy costume there. It didn't really turn out as sexy as I had it in my head. And this is my sister at five in the morning, just ripping the prosthetics and the wig off of my face. I had this pink and purple on me for about three weeks. It wouldn't come off.
Jimmy Fallon
That's what family's for. Come on. Well, congrats. You go from these things to your own skincare line. Let's talk about this right here. This is a big deal, and it looks gorgeous. I love the packaging.
Alex Earle
Thank you. That's so nice.
Jimmy Fallon
Real Actives. R E A L E, by the way.
Alex Earle
Yes.
Jimmy Fallon
How'd you come up with that?
Alex Earle
That was. I mean, it's a mumble jumble of my last name, Earl. You know, turn it around. But in college, my friends always made fun of me because a lot of. Like, at the time when I was getting some traction on TikTok, people were like, she's so real. She's so real. And they were like, alex, I mean, they're just saying anything you do is so real. So my friends would sort of mock me about it and became a thing. But it's something that always resonated with my content. I just thought, you know, I'm being honest on there. I'm being real and something I would use with my personal brand. And then when I was sitting in my childhood bedroom one day and it was just on my notes app, sort of like playing around with my name, and I knew I wanted to create a brand and I.
Jimmy Fallon
You know, this was when. When you were in high school?
Alex Earle
No, right after I graduated college. So August of 2023.
Jimmy Fallon
Yeah.
Alex Earle
And I was just playing around with the word real and my last name, and I was like, oh, this would be a really cool name for a brand. And before I even knew what it was going to be.
Jimmy Fallon
Before you do anything. And you actually brought us a screenshot of your notes app.
Alex Earle
Yes.
Jimmy Fallon
From August 10, 2023. There you go. You called it real.
Alex Earle
Real.
Jimmy Fallon
That's what you wanted. Alex, write it down. You manifested it.
You made it happen.
You manifested it. You did a cool thing online with, like, these kind of puzzle pieces because no one knew what you were doing. It was like, wtf is Alix Earle up to? What is she doing? And we didn't know. And everyone was like. But then you sent out briefcases to.
Alex Earle
Yeah, you know, I was so scared about anyone. Cause everyone has big mouths. I mean, I have a big mouth, you know, So I was just scared of anyone leaking this brand before it got out. So I didn't really even tell that many people besides, like, my very, very close circle. And I sent friends, like, puzzle pieces. It was a whole, you know, live, I guess, game for everyone to figure out what was going on and WTF is Alex doing? And it sort of. It became like a little bit of a phenomenon the past few days.
Jimmy Fallon
Your Friends were like, what do I do with the.
Alex Earle
I sent them a puzzle piece in a locked suitcase. I was like, just post the puzzle piece and, like, I promise it's all gonna make sense soon. And they were like, can I not open this nice suitcase you sent me? Like, can I get in here?
Jimmy Fallon
But then everything became every. Every piece that was posted.
Alex Earle
Yes. So we also had a billboard up in soho where as people were posting the pieces, they were putting them up on the billboard. So you could kind of see it coming together in real time.
Jimmy Fallon
In real time. I loved it. And then here's you with the. That's the finished product right there.
Tyrese Maxey
The finished billboard.
Jimmy Fallon
Congratulations.
Alex Earle
And I have a funny story, actually.
Jimmy Fallon
What's up?
Alex Earle
So, you know, the brand posts. This is two and a half years in the making. I'm so nervous, and I'm like, you know, I'm texting my team. I'm like, you know, we gotta double check everything for the post. Like, don't mess it up.
Jimmy Fallon
This is big deal.
Alex Earle
This is our time. We're finally going. We have this brand video that we created. It was me in the water, whatever. It was this big thing, and I go to post it on TikTok today, and I'm ready for the announcement. I'm in my glam for this. I'm so excited. I post it. I put my phone down. I'm celebrating. I'm like, let's go. It's out there, it's live. And my CEO calls me and she's like, alex, like, you posted. And I guess it, like, suggested a song. She goes, you put a Cardi B audio over our launch video? And I'm like, what? And all of a sudden, I pull up my TikTok, and I was like, oh, my God.
Jimmy Fallon
Wow.
Go thank Cardi B.
Tyrese Maxey
Right?
Jimmy Fallon
Thanks for the promo. Cardi. She's on the show.
Alex Earle
I was like, what are the odds of that?
Jimmy Fallon
What product here should I try? What would be good for me?
Alex Earle
Oh, I mean, I think this is really just a great one. This mandelic acid serum cost. Go deep acid. So it spins like this.
Jimmy Fallon
Ooh. It's a cool top.
Alex Earle
Yes. So you could, you know, pump it.
Jimmy Fallon
All right. What do I do?
Alex Earle
Pump it for yourself.
Jimmy Fallon
Yeah. All right. Just right in my hand there and go for it. All right. This is the beautiful. Thank you.
Alex Earle
We have this one that's a little.
Jimmy Fallon
No scent to it.
Alex Earle
This is like.
Jimmy Fallon
It's.
Wait, what is that thing?
Alex Earle
This is a cleansing balm.
Jimmy Fallon
But what do you turn it and it shaves it shaves out. What?
Alex Earle
And then it's the way you do it.
Jimmy Fallon
Wow.
Alex Earle
So, yeah, it shaves out like this and then you rub it together, it turns into like a, you know, oil based makeup remover cleansing balm. And it's really, really great step for.
Jimmy Fallon
It smells fantastic.
Alex Earle
Cleansing.
Jimmy Fallon
I love this. Thank you so much for coming on. Congrats on everything. Now we have
Alice Arrow. Check out Real Actives, which will be available on March 31st. More Tonight show after the break.
Stick around, everybody. Our next guest is a two time NBA all star, one of the biggest scorers in the league, and the starting guard of the Philadelphia 76ers. Please welcome Tyrese Maxey. Tyrese Maxey, you're a stud. Welcome to the show.
Tyrese Maxey
How's the pinky doing, man? I'm getting there. I'm getting there. I'm close. I appreciate you asking.
Jimmy Fallon
All right, good, good. Welcome to the show. I know originally you're from Texas, right? I know. Mom and dad are here tonight.
Tyrese Maxey
Mom and dad are definitely here.
Jimmy Fallon
Come on, bud.
Tyrese Maxey
Big shout out to mom and dad.
Jimmy Fallon
How does it feel to come from Texas and be welcomed in Philly? How's it going?
Tyrese Maxey
Yeah, man, it's definitely a change.
Jimmy Fallon
It is.
Tyrese Maxey
You know, I tell a funny story about when I first got off the plane in Philadelphia and I just had on like a light sweater, like a little hoodie, and then the wind hit me. Boom.
Jimmy Fallon
I was like, oh, Lord.
Wow. I gotta get used to this.
Tyrese Maxey
Yeah, it was definitely different.
Jimmy Fallon
But are you now. Are you just like, do you bleed Philly now? Are you Philly all the way?
Tyrese Maxey
Of course I'm Philly all the way. You know, maybe just, you know, only thing is, like, I still. I'm from Dallas, so like, I gotta like the Cowboys.
Jimmy Fallon
No, his dad's here.
Tyrese Maxey
My dad's here. Listen, my dad wouldn't allow me back in his house if I.
Jimmy Fallon
Yes.
Tyrese Maxey
If I was a full on Eagles fan. But when they're not playing against the Cowboys, I love them.
Jimmy Fallon
Yeah. Are you loving the food?
Tyrese Maxey
Love the food.
Jimmy Fallon
And you love the people?
Tyrese Maxey
Love the people. The people are the best, actually.
Jimmy Fallon
Honestly, like, they're loving you back.
Tyrese Maxey
Yes, man.
Jimmy Fallon
You're a star, bro.
Tyrese Maxey
Appreciate that, man. Shout out to all the Philly fans, man. I can't thank them enough for how they treat me, how they brought my family in. Very appreciative of that.
Jimmy Fallon
Well, you're the team leader and then you're just so young. And I was like, what is it like to have that happen to you? Be that lit when someone's like, hey, you should lead the team. Or what?
Tyrese Maxey
Yeah, it's just like, first of all, I'm old now. I'm 25.
Jimmy Fallon
Yeah, right. Oh, my God.
Tyrese Maxey
But nah, it's kinda like. It was funny. Like, I had a conversation.
Jimmy Fallon
I'm times three, but nah, nah, you not.
Tyrese Maxey
But it's funny. I had a conversation with Joel and it was just like two years ago. He was like, hey, man, you're coming to your own. You gotta lead this team. And I was like, okay. Like, I've always been a leader, like in high school and college, but at this point, I'm 22, 23 years old, and he wants me to lead grown men. But now it's been really cool to, like, get a relationship with everybody. And I kind of bonded. Everybody, like, now I think everybody kind of knows Vijay Edgecombe. He's our rookie this year. He's like a little brother to me, man. It's like Trenton Walford is a best friend of mine to be on the team.
Jimmy Fallon
So do you get nervous when you first started and you're like, you're playing up against like, like LeBron James, you're, like, nervous?
Tyrese Maxey
Yeah, no, I don't think I would be nervous. Like, LeBron.
Jimmy Fallon
You're a fan.
Tyrese Maxey
Nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah.
Jimmy Fallon
Did you geek out and be like, oh, my gosh, after the game? Oh, after the game, I would be. I'd be like, oh, my God, I can't believe I had posters of you hanging on my wall.
Yeah.
Tyrese Maxey
Nah. But when I'm in the game, it's like, I gotta cook these people. It's my job.
Alex Earle
That's right.
Jimmy Fallon
I gotta cook these people.
Tyrese Maxey
I gotta cook these people, man.
Jimmy Fallon
Here you are, by the way, in the All Star game, playing against LeBron.
Tyrese Maxey
Oh, wow, that's nice.
Jimmy Fallon
Have you gotten to know him, though?
Tyrese Maxey
Yeah, like we've. You know, it's actually funny. Like, he's actually somebody who's actually became really close to me. Like in the summertime, we have like this little thing where we work out, like, 6 o' clock in the morning.
Jimmy Fallon
6 o' clock in the morning?
Tyrese Maxey
Yeah. So the first time it happened, I got there at like, 5:40. 5, 5:40. I was there before him.
Jimmy Fallon
That's my man.
Tyrese Maxey
Then he gets there at 5 30, and I tried to get there at 5 15, and then like, the last time he got there at 5, and when I got there, he was in a full sweat. I'm like, you know what? You win.
Jimmy Fallon
You win, man. You win that one. Yeah, yeah, you win no pressure, though. You're playing these games, and you're playing with some pretty famous people courtside as well, right? Look at this. This is the Obamas. And is that Dr. J?
Tyrese Maxey
Yeah, yeah.
Jimmy Fallon
Oscar Robinson.
Tyrese Maxey
Yeah, that's. Now, I was kind of nervous then. Yeah. Nervous, yeah. Playing in front of President Obama. That's. That's. Yeah, that was a little scary. But. But he's a great guy, you know? Man, he knows my name. That's just unbelievable.
Jimmy Fallon
Everyone knows your name. Come on, bud. I know that you have your new sneaker coming out with New Balance.
Tyrese Maxey
Yes, sir.
Jimmy Fallon
By the way, congratulations.
Tyrese Maxey
Thank you so much. Thank you. Dream It's a dream coming true can't even lie A dream coming true Were
Jimmy Fallon
you a sneaker head growing up?
Tyrese Maxey
Super, super big sneaker head. So I had this thing, like, with my homies back at the crib. My uncle, he would get, like, every pair of Jordans. Every single pair of Jordans. So, like, I kind of tried to collect my own. And the funny thing is, like, my mom, who's here today, she takes all my trophies, by the way. Like, all of my trophies.
Jimmy Fallon
Your mom takes all your trophies?
Tyrese Maxey
All of my accolades, she takes them. She takes it for herself.
Jimmy Fallon
Good. She should.
Tyrese Maxey
Yeah.
Jimmy Fallon
So you deserve it, Mom.
That's right. Take those trophies.
Tyrese Maxey
She takes them all.
Jimmy Fallon
So cute.
Yeah, it's the best.
So what did she do with them?
Tyrese Maxey
So it's funny. Like, so what she does is, like, she has a pair of shoes. Like, Dwayne Wade was my favorite player growing up. Right. And I used to play in Dwyane Wade.
Jimmy Fallon
Oh, yeah.
Tyrese Maxey
And I used to play in these shoes every single day outside. And I thought, like, I had holes in the bottom of them, and I thought they were gone. And, like, when I bought my first house, they revealed the house to me. And everything that was in there, she had, like, the shoes. The Dwayne Wade shoes. And the glass case. So that's how my mom is.
Jimmy Fallon
She's in the seat.
Tyrese Maxey
Yeah. Love you, Mom.
Jimmy Fallon
And now, I mean, you've done shoes in the past. Cause I've seen you, like, I know you're a big Marvel fan, but.
Tyrese Maxey
Huge.
Jimmy Fallon
You love Marvel.
Tyrese Maxey
Huge.
Jimmy Fallon
Yeah. I thought it'd be kind of fun to maybe do who your Avengers starting lineup would be, because the playoffs. The playoffs are coming up.
Tyrese Maxey
They're on the way.
Jimmy Fallon
They're on the way.
Tyrese Maxey
On the way.
Jimmy Fallon
And if I name a superhero, you could tell me who in the NBA would play that superhero. Who is your Avengers starting lineup?
Tyrese Maxey
Okay, you put me to the Test here. Let's do it. Come on, bro.
Jimmy Fallon
Who's Spider Man?
Tyrese Maxey
Okay. Spider man would either be me or Donovan Mitchell. Those are my two.
Jimmy Fallon
I love you. Yeah. You love Spider Man?
Tyrese Maxey
Yeah, I love Spider Man. So I gotta throw my Spiderman.
Jimmy Fallon
Why do you like Spider man so much?
Tyrese Maxey
Because he's, like. He's a kid. He's a kid. He goes to high school, and then he lives a normal life. But then in the nighttime, the crime. He's out there fighting crime. Like, no one knows who he is, but he's just doing it because, like, he's a genuine person, and, like, we appreciate him for that. So I feel like that's kind of like my personality.
Jimmy Fallon
That's you. Yeah. Friendly neighborhood Spider Man.
Tyrese Maxey
Friendly neighborhood Spider Man.
Alex Earle
All right.
Jimmy Fallon
I like you for Spider Man. All right. But who's Iron Man?
Tyrese Maxey
Okay, so Iron Man I was talking about, this is. I think would be Shay. Shay Gillis Alexander. Because of who he is, how he dresses, like, he just. And he gets, like. He trolls, like, on Instagram. He puts, like, his nice little captions. He's funny and he's hilarious. Yeah. So, like, I think that's gonna be my.
Jimmy Fallon
Ooh, I like that. Yeah, he's a good guy. About the Hulk.
Tyrese Maxey
The Hulk. This is funny. I think the Hulk should be Isaiah Stewart. Because any man that is gonna chase LeBron and think that he should be the Hulk, there's no stopping him when he gets angry. I don't think anybody's getting in front of him when he's angry. So we're gonna let him be the
Jimmy Fallon
Hulk guy like that Captain America.
Tyrese Maxey
Captain America would probably have to be LeBron James. Yeah. Yeah, probably LeBron.
Jimmy Fallon
He's amazing.
Tyrese Maxey
Yeah, he's just like. He's just, you know, everything that he does is special. Yeah, he just goes out there just like he did for the Olympics. And he was a team leader for that. So, yeah. Does a good job of leading our league.
Jimmy Fallon
I love that. And finally, who's Thor?
Tyrese Maxey
So Thor for me would be Luka Doncic.
Jimmy Fallon
Really? Why Luka?
Tyrese Maxey
Luka Doncic? Because, like, they call him Luka Magic for a reason. Only he can do some of the things that. You know what I'm saying? Only he can do those things. And Thor was the same way. Only Thor can do those things. He's magical, and that's how I feel about Luka. And he's a great basketball player and a great person as well.
Jimmy Fallon
All right, Spider Man.
Tyrese Maxey
Yes, sir.
Jimmy Fallon
