I explained what it was. I was like, this is a Ringo impression. And I did it. And Ringo was right there.

He was clapping along. Clapping Ringo. I've stared at those album covers, listened to that music so much.

It just seemed like a nice even number, you know? Cause they're so short that an album has to be like at least 100.

I understand. But wait, Fred, here's what's already funny. You have 101 sound effects on the album. Yes, that's a problem.

I told. And I'm name dropping. I told Steve Martin about it and he was like, uh huh. You should do 101.

I recorded These. At recording studios, I tried to recreate a lot of sounds that. So it's sort of comedic but also sort of useful.

Yes. I would think that when you get to probably around 20, you probably go, hey, this is actually harder work than I thought. Yeah, it was. It really was. Right. Because it's a funny idea, and you write ideas and then you go. Now you're in a recording studio and you're like, I gotta do a hundred of these.

[Fred Armisen]

Yeah. You know, it's a little bit like snl. You know, like when you. You sort of cut stuff, you're like, this is. This sound is not working. This isn't like. It's neither funny or useful. So.

[Jimmy Fallon]

So you actually cut some. But let me play a couple. Cause these are. This is keyboard not working at first at a music store. Oh, yeah.

When you go to a music store.

And, you know, like, you're at.

Is that good? Okay, moving on. And then you're just like, really? It's bizarre. It's like severance, real life severance.

And Laurie divs and plays your boyfriend in the show. And you were telling me backstage to icebreakery stuff, getting to know each other. Cause you had to do a lot of intimate scenes. Yeah. So it was like, hey, let's get to know each other.

[Fred Armisen]

It's embarrassing. And let's. Yeah, it's. Yeah, but it's work. And you go, yeah. So you went to karaoke. That's how you bonded.

But now I think everybody needs to know that we all go through challenges. And I've been through, like, name a life stressor, and I've been through it, and it's in the book.

And I'm feeling better than ever now. And that's why it was like, it was time to write about it and share all of that. So for people going through those same things, they know that there's the other side.

I mean, so there's a couple of things. So first of all, you know, it was a time where, like, there was no Internet, so you had to get to all the radio program directors in the country. So I was literally, you guys will appreciate this splicing tape. I was like, doing these customized radio IDs. So, like, if you were on the radio, I'd be like, jimmy Fallon's got the music. I thought it was only in my dreams. And I would send it, like my mom and I would send that to like 350 DJs around the country. And I had before that, though, I had my sisters will remember their cassette recorders lined up on the ironing board. And I was attempting multi track recording. So I had this little Casio synthesizer.

[Jimmy Fallon]

So I mean, now we have GarageBand and we have all this stuff, Apple and Pro Tools.

[Jenna Andrews]

But back then, and I know you're always doing loopy, but this was like. Because you actually couldn't loop because you just had to keep playing things live. Right?

[Jimmy Fallon]

You were in your garage.

[Jenna Andrews]

In the garage, yes. Yes. So I would play a part on the synthesizer into one tape recorder and then play it back while playing another part. And I would. And by the end, you heard and like some faint little arrangement in the background. And my mom was like, this is ridiculous. I've got to get a loan because they didn't have the money. Got to get a loan from Cousin Joe. Thank you, Cousin Joe.

To start me with a Tascam 4 track and a little linen rack mount sequencer. And I was this little techie girl and.

Yeah, and I had the vision. Like I think. I think a lot of people have that vision. But I had a mom who was amazing. Mom, amazing. And yes, the right kind of crazy because like, you know, we got the music out to the people, which was always the. It was always a. About the music, not about me. It was about those songs.

You brought the keyboard that you had.

[Jenna Andrews]

I brought the keyboard from 1983 that I used to.
