Come on.
Yeah. Thank you very much. Please enjoy yourself. Enjoy yourself. Welcome, everybody.
Welcome, welcome. Welcome to the Tonight Show.
You're here. Thank you very much for watching.
Well, guys, this was exciting. Today, King Charles and Queen Camilla were in New York City. And in honor of their visit, Times Square, Elmo switched from Jack Daniels to crown royal. I thought that was. That was.
Tariq Trotter (Black Thought)
Yeah.
Jimmy Fallon
And this is classy. In honor of the king and queen being here this morning, a cab driver flipped me off with his pinky out. Oh, yeah.
Thank you.
The last time Charles was here in the city was almost 20 years ago. Basically, he comes to town every time there's a Devil Wears Prada movie. Oh, timed it out perfectly. Yeah. Well, this afternoon, Charles met Mayor Mamdani. The mayor told Charles about his plan to make all the buses free. And the king said, and what is a bus? Sounds interesting. Yes. Yeah. After spending two days in Washington, the king and queen were in the city. At one point, Charles drove by Trump Tower and was like, I can't get away from this freaking guy. I mean, what. What do I have to do? Meanwhile, today, President Trump called Charles. Fantastic. And said, he's a great king and a great friend of mine. And in response, Charles said, and I think it's great that you think. Some more news from Washington. Today, Trump spoke on the phone with Vladimir Putin. For an hour and a half, Putin was like, okay, this girl. What? Do Charlie and Camilla really lie? Come on, tell me the truth.
Yahya Abdul-Mateen II
Yeah.
Jimmy Fallon
There was a cute moment during the call when they both said, how's your unwinnable war going, Jinx. Well, listen to this. The Pentagon just told Congress that In the first two months of the Iran war, they have spent $25 billion. Yeah, it costs $12.5 billion a month. I mean, who are they? Netflix? Hey, you guys see this? Today, Trump hosted the Artemis 2 astronauts at the White House. Trump asked the astronauts what 10 days away from Earth were like, and they all said, peaceful. Very, very peaceful. Well, guys, Anne Hathaway is our guest tonight. I'm very excited about that.
Pete.
That's our buddy.
That's right. The Devil wears Prada 2 hits theaters this weekend.
Tariq Trotter (Black Thought)
Dude, I can't wait, man. Tom Holland looks great in that. What?
Anne Hathaway
Oh.
Jimmy Fallon
Oh, Tariq, that's an old movie called the Devil all the Time. This is the Devil Wears Prada.
Tariq Trotter (Black Thought)
Oh, right. Wait, is that the one with Al Pacino and Keanu Reeves?
Jimmy Fallon
No, that's the Devil's advocate. This is the Devil Wears Prada.
Tariq Trotter (Black Thought)
Oh, right. Wait, is that the song about playing fiddle?
Jimmy Fallon
No, that's the Devil went down to Georgia. This is the Devil Wears Prada.
Tariq Trotter (Black Thought)
Oh, right, right, right, right. Wait, is that when the dork from Harry Potter streaks at a football game?
Jimmy Fallon
No, that's Neville wears Nada. This is Devil Wears Prada.
Tariq Trotter (Black Thought)
Is it when you find a paper clip in your breakfast quiche?
Jimmy Fallon
No, that's metal frittata. This is Devil Wears Prada.
Tariq Trotter (Black Thought)
When Hansel's sister gives you an extra
Jimmy Fallon
cup of coffee, that's Gretel shares Java. This is Devil Wears Prada.
Tariq Trotter (Black Thought)
When that neighbor from I love Lutze puts on a meat dress, that's Ethel wears Gaga. When you're with a warthog and meerkat
Jimmy Fallon
and you have no worries, that's Hakuna Matata.
Tariq Trotter (Black Thought)
When you wake up and go straight to a convenience store in New Jersey,
Jimmy Fallon
that's disheveled hair at Wawa.
Tariq Trotter (Black Thought)
When you set up a hibachi place
Jimmy Fallon
for like a large party, that's several chairs at Benihana.
Tariq Trotter (Black Thought)
When they combine two random animals into
Jimmy Fallon
a new animal, that's a special bear Lama.
Tariq Trotter (Black Thought)
When that kid from Home alone looks
Jimmy Fallon
at a former president, that's Kevin stares at Obama.
Tariq Trotter (Black Thought)
When you mediate a dispute involving the
Jimmy Fallon
singer of do you believe in life after love?
That's settle Cher's drama. Hang on, hang on, hang on.
Tariq Trotter (Black Thought)
I think I got it. Is it the iconic movie with Meryl Streep and Stanley Tucci?
Jimmy Fallon
Yes. You finally got it.
Awesome, man.
Tariq Trotter (Black Thought)
I love Julie and Julia.
Jimmy Fallon
No. Tariq Trotter, everybody. Very close. Boom.
Gene. Gene.
Tariq Trotter (Black Thought)
Yeah.
Jimmy Fallon
Finally, Coors Light just announced that they're launching their first ever non alcoholic beer called Coors 0.0. Or as it's also known, Coors Light.
We have a great show from the Devil West. Prada too. Anne Hathaway is here. Yahya Abdullah. My Team II is joining us. Stella McCartney is here tonight. Let's go write some thank you notes. Come on.
Tariq Trotter (Black Thought)
Clinical test. Because I couldn't come to believe I'm the best. And then they tested me. Hey, y'.
Jimmy Fallon
All.
Tariq Trotter (Black Thought)
And in Xin.
Jimmy Fallon
Welcome to the show, guys. Be sure to tune in tomorrow night. We have a big show. Olivia Rodrigo will be here. Richard Gad is joining us. We got music from Bruce Hornsby and we'll be talking to the crew of NASA's Artemis 2 moon mission. Christina Cook, Reid Wiseman, Victor Glover, and Jeremy Hansen will all be here tomorrow night. Come on.
Hey, everyone.
I'm running a bit behind today, so I thought if you guys wouldn't mind, I'd like to write out my weekly thank you notes right now. Is that okay for you? Just running behind. I like to be polite. I want to write out some thank you. James, can I get some thank you note writing music that I can. So lifelike. Is that animatronic or is that real? No, it's not. We got it from Disney. Thank you. This Saturday's kentucky derby. This Sunday's f1 race, the NBA playoffs and the NHL playoffs. Or as fanduel put it, Thank you, cupcakes, for being muffins that are going to the Kentucky Derby all dressed up. Thank you, the check engine light for flattering me by assuming that I know what to do after I check the engine. What am I gonna do? I help.
Help me 911.
I don't know what to do. Thank you, ointment, for always sounding more disgusting than whatever I'm putting you on. It's like, ugh, ointment. It's moist ointment. Ointment. Thank you, mocktails for being perfect for someone who doesn't drink alcohol but still enjoys paying $15. I'll have a coon cereal. I know what it is.
Yahya Abdul-Mateen II
Yeah.
Jimmy Fallon
A touch of lychee with a just a hint of like a zest. Just a waft. Hand it over. Hand it over.
Anne Hathaway
Cardamom.
Jimmy Fallon
Thank you, video podcasts for being not podcast.
Tariq Trotter (Black Thought)
This is.
Jimmy Fallon
Yeah, come on.
This is the video pod.
No.
On a TV show. Thank you. Recall on pet food that tested positive for salmonella, listeria and E. Coli. Or as Carnival cruise calls that, breakfast, lunch and dinner.
There you have it, everybody. Thanks, Gino. Stick around. We'll be right back with the end half the way. Our first guest is an Oscar winning
actress who is back as Andy Sax in the Devil wears Prada 2, which
hits theaters this Friday. Please welcome Ann Hathaway. Come on. Okay.
Anne Hathaway, welcome back to the show.
They love you. Come on. We love you. Can't get enough.
Anne Hathaway
I love you so much. I love you so much. Guys, this is my last stop on the tour.
Jimmy Fallon
Oh, yeah, baby. Save the best.
Anne Hathaway
The movie's coming out. And so you are my favorite audience
Jimmy Fallon
ever and ever and ever.
Can I just say, you've been fantastic in all the press I've watched. You look gorgeous. You're funny. You're charming. Thank you. The movie is really funny and fun. Everyone go check it out. I always love every time I run into you or see you. I see you at the Knick games. Were you at the game the other night?
Anne Hathaway
No, I was working.
Jimmy Fallon
Wow.
Anne Hathaway
I was working because I didn't know that it was going to go to that deep into the playoffs.
Jimmy Fallon
It was fantastic.
Anne Hathaway
It was such a great game.
Jimmy Fallon
What do you like at the games? Are you a loud fan or are you a. Oh, there you are. There's Nick's colors. Come on. Representing. I see it. I see it.
Anne Hathaway
I'm like, what kind of fan am I? I'm very. I'm very chill. I'm very loving and calm. But, like, I'm also the type of fan that I considered wearing an OG jersey out here today.
Jimmy Fallon
Yeah, let's see.
Anne Hathaway
So I'm like. I'm kind of the.
Jimmy Fallon
You're a little of both.
Yeah.
Anne Hathaway
Because I like when I'm at the game, I want them to know that I know who they are and that they're gonna win.
Jimmy Fallon
Yes.
Anne Hathaway
You know, like, I don't want to, like, get out into, like, oh, what are you doing? All that. I want them to know that, like, you can do no wrong.
Jimmy Fallon
Yeah.
Anne Hathaway
I'm trying to be like, a gentle, loving.
Jimmy Fallon
Yeah, that's true.
Anne Hathaway
Motherly fan.
Jimmy Fallon
Motherly fan. You're a motherly fan. You're like, I'll take care of you.
Yeah.
You're doing a great job out there.
Anne Hathaway
And when you missed the basket, that wasn't you.
Jimmy Fallon
It wasn't you.
Anne Hathaway
It happens to everybody. I saw it.
Jimmy Fallon
There was a moment last season that went viral, and it just shows how composed you are at Knicks games. Here's what happened.
Yahya Abdul-Mateen II
Nobody's scaring those along the sideline.
Jimmy Fallon
Yeah.
Yahya Abdul-Mateen II
OG gets in that passing lane. Cross court pass. Sorry. You should defend that place.
Jimmy Fallon
Whoa.
Yahya Abdul-Mateen II
He's saying the little kid was mesmerized. He couldn't move.
Jimmy Fallon
Not happy about the popcorn being spilled, that's for sure.
There's always more popcorn, young man. Yeah, there's always more popcorn, young man. He's so cute.
Anne Hathaway
That was Jack. And then the little brunette that kind of dove across. That was Johnny.
Jimmy Fallon
They acted cool. Oh, were you scared for a second.
Anne Hathaway
Okay, well, this is like. I don't know what this says about me. I'm so focused on the ball. I was so excited because, like, you know how it is when you're a kid. You dream about, like, maybe someday I'll sit close to the action.
Jimmy Fallon
Wait, I have this dream, too.
Anne Hathaway
You have this dream, right? It's like the dream of every sports fan.
Jimmy Fallon
The ball comes out, you get the ball. Yes. And either you. Do you pass it back? Do you bounce? Pass it to the ref? Do you shoot it?
Anne Hathaway
Do you do a little. No.
Jimmy Fallon
Yes. I go for the three. Oh.
If I get the ball in the
next game, I'm throwing it.
I gotta do it.
I gotta.
Yahya Abdul-Mateen II
Yes.
Anne Hathaway
And that's the type of fan you are.
Jimmy Fallon
That's why I'm not invited to the Garden.
Anne Hathaway
I was like, do you underhand it? Or you give a little flare? Like, hey, there you go. Like. And the. None of the above. You're like, here.
Jimmy Fallon
You didn't think he was gonna tackle you? He's so much bigger than you.
Anne Hathaway
I was so excited about the ball. I never imagined something even better was gonna happen. Even better, which was that, like, OG was gonna be right there. And so it was like this thing where he was coming at me. Time slowed down.
Jimmy Fallon
Yes.
Anne Hathaway
And I just. I knew he didn't want to hit me or my family.
Jimmy Fallon
Yeah.
Anne Hathaway
Any more than I wanted to be hit.
Jimmy Fallon
No. But then it became a headline. GQ said, did Anne Hathaway get the Knicks season back on track? After that, they just kept winning and
winning and winning and winning.
You're the good luck charm, boss.
Come on.
Thank you.
Oh, man.
Anne Hathaway
As a Nick fan, it had nothing to do with them.
Jimmy Fallon
No. Nothing to do with the talent of the team.
Anne Hathaway
Nothing to do with the talent of the team.
Jimmy Fallon
No.
Anne Hathaway
I will be Dumbo's feather. Absolutely. If that's where I sit.
Jimmy Fallon
You're a great actress. You're a great basketball fan, but also, you have a great voice. You're a great singer. I love you. In this new movie, Mother Mary, you play a pop star and you sing a bunch of the songs on the soundtrack. On the soundtrack in character, and you crush it, bud. It sounds so good.
Anne Hathaway
Oh, thank you so much.
Jimmy Fallon
Did you write the songs or who?
Anne Hathaway
I did write one of them, and then I kind of contributed lyrics and other kind of. I don't know how. I still don't know how to describe it. I'm still so new to this, but, like, the development of the sound of
Jimmy Fallon
the song, it was like, Charli xcx.
Anne Hathaway
Yes. Oh, my gosh. It was Charli xcx. Yes. It was FKA Twigs.
Jimmy Fallon
Oh, my God.
Anne Hathaway
And it was Jack Antonoff.
Jimmy Fallon
Jack Antonov. Oh, my God. That's a trifecta. That's pop royalty right there. You're crushing it. You're crushing it. Let's talk about the devil words. The trailer. The trailer alone had, like, 222 million views. Yeah. It's the most viewed trailer in the history of 20th century. Congrats. The sequel, I mean, been talked about for 20 years. But when did it feel like it actually might happen? It might be real?
Anne Hathaway
When did it. Oh, my gosh. Well, it was such a crazy idea that it could happen, that for so many years. It was like, people would ask, and I'd be like, there's no way. I mean, you can't come back to that. The world's so different. And then we got the call that Aline Brush McKenna, our writer, and David Frankel, our director, had found a way in that was gonna be able to talk about all this stuff that we've been going through. And we got this script. It was great. It got greenlit like that. We were on set like that.
Jimmy Fallon
You got merit.
Anne Hathaway
Oh, my gosh.
Jimmy Fallon
You have Stanley Tucci. Come on.
You got it all back.
Anne Hathaway
But here's the thing. It was so big. The crowds were amazing. And so we just kind of had to, again, lock in eye on the ball. So I didn't actually realize what we'd done until I was on my way to the premiere.
Jimmy Fallon
Really?
Anne Hathaway
I was in a sprinter van, standing up in this beautiful dress by Louis Vuitton, which I didn't want to get anything on. So I was actually wearing the garment bag and try it.
Jimmy Fallon
And so you had a dress and a bag over the dress?
Anne Hathaway
Naturally.
Jimmy Fallon
Wow.
Anne Hathaway
And so. And I was, like, on my way to the premiere, and I was like, oh, my God, we made the Devil Wears Prada, too.
Jimmy Fallon
Yes.
You actually did.
Yahya Abdul-Mateen II
Yeah.
Jimmy Fallon
You're like.
Anne Hathaway
And it's just like all of these memories just, like, came flooding back, and one of them. This is gonna blow your mind. Cause it just came back to me tonight. We used to play a game on the first one, which was. Worst word.
Jimmy Fallon
Yes.
Anne Hathaway
And Emily Blunt's worst words were moist ointment.
Jimmy Fallon
Moist ointment. Oh, that totally wins. I didn't even think about moist ointment. Moist ointment. There's so many classic quotes from. From the original Devil Wears Prada. It has a cult following. Everyone loves it. The Internet should thank you for all the quotes. I thought it could be kind of fun if maybe we ranked the quotes.
Anne Hathaway
Okay. But you guys gotta help.
Jimmy Fallon
Okay, so I'm gonna give you a quote, and then we're gonna go 1 through 6 ranking of where the quote lands. Are you ready for this?
Anne Hathaway
Yes. I don't know let's try.
Jimmy Fallon
The first one is. And you can't move them once you. Once you place them.
Anne Hathaway
Oh, so this is like a psychic test. Okay.
Jimmy Fallon
Oh, yeah. Wherever it lands, it has to stay.
Stella McCartney
Okay.
Jimmy Fallon
Florals for spring. Groundbreaking.
Anne Hathaway
Don't start with that one. Oh, no. What do we guys think? Like, three? Three, Right. Three.
Jimmy Fallon
Very confident. Three. That's a good one.
Anne Hathaway
You guys are real fans.
Jimmy Fallon
Yeah. Here we go.
Anne Hathaway
You guys have been waiting for this.
Jimmy Fallon
Okay, here we go. Now, how about this one? Okay. Can you please spell Gabbana?
Anne Hathaway
Because it's.
Jimmy Fallon
Can you please spell Gabbana?
Anne Hathaway
Six. Six.
Jimmy Fallon
I'm gonna go six. Can you please spell Gabbana?
Is six.
Anne Hathaway
By the way, we were at a fan event and I thought I would spell Gabbana and I spelled it wrong. In front of everybody?
Jimmy Fallon
Yeah, of course in front of everybody.
Anne Hathaway
Why not two bees?
Jimmy Fallon
Why not?
Yeah. Details of your incompetence do not interest me. Oh, I love Miranda.
Anne Hathaway
Okay, two.
Jimmy Fallon
You're gonna say two.
Anne Hathaway
No, I'm not. I'm not. Okay.
Jimmy Fallon
I mean, there's others.
Four.
Anne Hathaway
Four.
Jimmy Fallon
There's three others.
Anne Hathaway
I'm gonna do four.
Jimmy Fallon
All right, Miranda.
Anne Hathaway
Guys, we know what's coming.
Jimmy Fallon
We do know what's coming.
Anne Hathaway
I got this wrong. You guys. These are all great lines. We gotta hold it.
Jimmy Fallon
I know the lie. Yeah. Yeah. All right. This one. This says. Oh, I'm sorry. Do you have some prior commitment? Some hideous skirt convention you have to go to?
Two.
Anne Hathaway
Two.
Jimmy Fallon
That's a two.
Yahya Abdul-Mateen II
All right.
Anne Hathaway
This is a personal one. This is my actual favorite line in the whole movie. I can't get through it without laughing. So that's my personal two.
Jimmy Fallon
That's your personal two?
Anne Hathaway
I'll argue about it at the commercial break. Okay?
Jimmy Fallon
That sweater is not just blue. It's not just turquoise. It's not lapis. It's actually cerulean. This is.
Anne Hathaway
I'm just gonna do something.
Jimmy Fallon
No, I'm not lucky. I'm not lucky.
Are you sure?
Anne Hathaway
Fast.
Jimmy Fallon
My gosh. I'm not like. Where'd it go?
Anne Hathaway
Nothing happened.
Jimmy Fallon
Nothing happened.
Anne Hathaway
Nothing happened.
Jimmy Fallon
It is. All right. And then. Well, we only have spot for number one, but is it the quote, Gird your loins.
Gird your loins. That's a good list. That's a great list right there.
Come on.
Anne Hathaway
I had to jump in. I couldn't.
Jimmy Fallon
You had to do it.
That's tr.
There's so many great ones.
I love all of them. It's so good. Congratulations. Everyone's going this weekend. Anne Hathaway. The Devil Wears Prana 2 is in theaters this Friday. Stick around everybody. Come on back. Our next guest is an Emmy winning
actor who stars in an executive produce the series man on Fire, which begins to streaming tomorrow on Netflix. Please welcome Yahya Abdul Mateen ii. Yahya, welcome back to the show. It's always nice to see you, my friend. I was doing a little research on you before you came on this time just to see what hobbies, what were you like as a kid, what were you into? And so I thought maybe we could talk about some of those things. Like, I wanna know, do you still play the clarinet? Look at this guy, man.
Yahya Abdul-Mateen II
You wanna know something interesting is when I took that picture, I thought it was a flute.
Jimmy Fallon
Yeah, that kinda happened.
Tariq Trotter (Black Thought)
Yeah.
Yahya Abdul-Mateen II
But what I love about it is the confidence, though.
Jimmy Fallon
Yeah, you were.
Yahya Abdul-Mateen II
Look at the confidence.
Jimmy Fallon
You've never seen anyone. Benny Goodman didn't stand like that. No, you never saw that. That's a. Confident, like he knew, he knew that
Yahya Abdul-Mateen II
whatever he was gonna do, he was gonna, he was gonna be something.
Jimmy Fallon
Yes. And, and, and, and. Do you still play the clarinet?
Yahya Abdul-Mateen II
No, I don't.
Jimmy Fallon
There you go.
Yahya Abdul-Mateen II
All right, well, I don't, I don't play the flute and the flute.
Jimmy Fallon
You don't do it. Yeah. All right, well, you can always, you can always go back, give it another shot. Yeah. How about, how about this? You still play basketball. Look at that. I double palming.
Yahya Abdul-Mateen II
I love the confidence there too.
Jimmy Fallon
It's like, yeah, he's almost the same dude.
He's the same dude.
He's like, yeah, yeah.
He's like, yeah, dude. You could palm both hands. Palm a basketball. That's awesome.
Yahya Abdul-Mateen II
I do play basketball, but not as well as I did right there. I was, I was. This is my junior year in high school and I played for a while, and then once I went to drama school, I realized that my basketball days were over because I started calling basketball practice. Basketball rehearsal. No, true story. True story. I took.
Jimmy Fallon
Did you go to basketball practice?
Yahya Abdul-Mateen II
I was taking my nephew to basketball practice and I was like, hey, let's go. It's time to go to rehearsal. And I was like, no, but no, that's not right.
Jimmy Fallon
Basketball rehearsal.
Yahya Abdul-Mateen II
That's not right. What's the word? Oh, practice.
Jimmy Fallon
Yeah. Wow.
Yahya Abdul-Mateen II
Oh, I'm washed.
Jimmy Fallon
Yeah. You found another dream. Yeah, man. You found another dream. But you got to be pretty good at one point.
Yahya Abdul-Mateen II
Yeah, I mean, I was all right. And I was a lot better then than I am. You could jump than I am now. Oh, yeah, I could jump. That was like one of My big One of my big.
Jimmy Fallon
You know, there was something I also noticed. You've been in a lot of great movies. Your past work, you're just. You're in man on Fire, but you've been in Aquaman. Uh huh. You've been in Watchmen.
Yahya Abdul-Mateen II
Yeah.
Jimmy Fallon
Now Wonder Man. Uh huh. Man on Fire.
Yahya Abdul-Mateen II
You see where he going?
Jimmy Fallon
I'm seeing a trend here. I think you're a typecast, dude.
Yahya Abdul-Mateen II
Greatest showman.
Jimmy Fallon
Greatest showman.
Yahya Abdul-Mateen II
Candyman.
Jimmy Fallon
Candyman. Candy dude. What is Candyman?
Yahya Abdul-Mateen II
Yeah, man, I can't even. You see that?
Jimmy Fallon
You see that? You're gonna be in.
Yahya Abdul-Mateen II
Yeah, man, I want to make. I want to make right here. It's the first time I'm ever saying it. This is the last. There we go. This is. This will be the last show or movie with man in the title for
Jimmy Fallon
the next decade at least.
Oh my.
Except for when.
Except for when you bring and do. Man on Fire comes back. Dude, that's hilarious though. Did you ever think about that?
Stella McCartney
That's.
Jimmy Fallon
That's crazy. Aquaman, Wonder Mathis, nuts.
Yahya Abdul-Mateen II
You know, black people love conspiracies.
Jimmy Fallon
Uh huh. I hate to know that.
Yahya Abdul-Mateen II
And you know I'm telling the truth. I've had my good share of success in the last 10 years and a lot of people think it's because I signed some kind of contract.
Jimmy Fallon
Oh really?
Yahya Abdul-Mateen II
Well, the contract that I did sign was that I had to do a movie with man in the title.
Jimmy Fallon
Oh, wow. Yeah, that's it.
I did.
I did hear about that.
Yahya Abdul-Mateen II
Yes, that is true. That was the.
Jimmy Fallon
Yeah, that's what you had to sign.
Yahya Abdul-Mateen II
My decade of service is up now.
Jimmy Fallon
So I gotta say, you crush it in man on Fire, based on the popular book series and also the movie made into a movie, Denzel Washington. And man, oh man, you hold your. You are just unbelievable. You started a whole new thing. You started a whole new thing. How do we set up, what do we say? How do we set up what man on Fire is about for everybody?
Yahya Abdul-Mateen II
Oh man, it's. It's a really great show. It's about a top notch special agent, special forces agent who is down on his luck and down in a bad way. But now he's thrown right back into the mix. He's in a situation that he's not ready for and I'm pretty excited about it now.
Jimmy Fallon
You're so. But also you're great in it. Your acting is great. But also you are jacked. You are in physical. I mean, you are unbelievable, man. You fight and everything. Action all the time. A lot of it's. Is it stunt work or is it you?
Yahya Abdul-Mateen II
Yeah, man, it's stunt work. I'm still hurting from it.
Jimmy Fallon
Really?
Yahya Abdul-Mateen II
I'm still hurting from it.
Jimmy Fallon
I mean, it's real. You can do everything in this.
Yahya Abdul-Mateen II
On Aquaman 1, Jason Momoa told me, he said, look, man, if you're still around in 10 years, which I am. He said, get your own stunt man and don't do your own stunts.
Jimmy Fallon
Yeah. Cause I should have took his advice, man. Yeah, but you look like you're great. You're smooth, but that's just acting.
Yahya Abdul-Mateen II
I'm paying for it. When I go back there.
Jimmy Fallon
How would you walk if the cameras are off?
Yahya Abdul-Mateen II
If the camera's off?
Jimmy Fallon
Yeah, the cameras are off. And you gotta go back to your dressing room.
Yahya Abdul-Mateen II
Oh, I'm gonna still walk. I'm gonna still walk smooth, you know what I'm saying? But like, I'm gonna still walk.
Jimmy Fallon
Yeah, but how are you feeling?
Yahya Abdul-Mateen II
Oh, how I'm feeling. That's a whole.
Jimmy Fallon
That's a. Yeah, yeah. I'm doing my teen the second Everybody. Man on Fire premieres tomorrow on Netflix. We'll be right back with Stella McCartney. Stick around.
Tariq Trotter (Black Thought)
Face for your face, eyes for your eyes. Don't blink.
Jimmy Fallon
Our next guest is one of my favorites.
She is an award winning designer and a pioneer in sustainable fashion. And her company, Stella McCartney, is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year.
Everyone, please welcome Stella McCartney. Come on. That's what I'm talking about. Come on now.
Kelvin McCartney, welcome to the show. I'm so happy you're here. Your fashion line is celebrating its 25th anniversary, by the way. That is a big deal, bud.
Anne Hathaway
Thank you.
Jimmy Fallon
Congratulations. Cover of Time magazine. No big deal.
Come on, bud.
Oh, yes, of course. That's her. Can I just go through a couple things that happened the past six months for you? Time magazine listed your sneakers as one of the best inventions of 2025. By the way. A plant based sneaker with the composable sole. Yes.
Yahya Abdul-Mateen II
No.
Jimmy Fallon
Amazing. Cool. French President Macron presented you with France's highest honor, the Legion de Nous Jeun d'. That's. That's massive. And then you were on the COVID of Time magazine and given a Time Earth award for all the work that you're doing to make fashion better for the world.
Stella McCartney. Come on now. That's what I'm talking about.
Stella McCartney
You're very welcome.
Jimmy Fallon
Jimmy, when you.
Stella McCartney
You're very, very welcome.
Jimmy Fallon
Thank you very much.
Stella McCartney
If I could drop that mic, I would.
Jimmy Fallon
You would? Yes.
Stella McCartney
I think it.
Jimmy Fallon
You could push it over? Yeah, I can. No, don't. Don't drop it. When you hear all that, I know you're humble, but does that. Does that freak you out? Do you get. Are you proud of yourself?
Stella McCartney
Yeah.
Jimmy Fallon
Good. I mean, I know you and I love you, but I'm also. I'm in awe of you.
Anne Hathaway
Oh, shut up.
Jimmy Fallon
Oh. I'm serious.
What you do, guys, it's so hard to make anything a hit, you know? But not only did you make it a hit, but you didn't use leather, you didn't use fur, and you didn't use feathers. Congratulations, bud.
Stella McCartney
Aw, thank you.
Jimmy Fallon
It's not easy to do. What made you do that? What made you challenge yourself and do that?
Stella McCartney
Aw. Serious for a second. I grew up in a family that was very conscious, very kind, ethical. We are vegetarian. We don't eat animals. And so I went into a business that kills billions of animals on a daily basis for bags and shoes and jackets. Nonsense, quite frankly. So I decided I wouldn't be able to compromise my ethics. I'm not a hypocrite. So if I don't eat them, I'm not gonna wear them. And I've never killed any animals. Yeah.
Jimmy Fallon
How do you make them? What do you make them out of?
Stella McCartney
I just make it really cool.
Anne Hathaway
Still, of course.
Jimmy Fallon
No, gorgeous.
Stella McCartney
I try to provide solutions. You know, I work a lot with young innovators. We grow mushroom handbags. We make a lot of accessories out of the waste of the apple industry. So, like apple pulp. We do the wine industry. It's incredible. And quite frankly, it's the future of fashion. I'm always sort of dumbfounded that the fashion industry is. Is so unfashionable and uncool and ancient in the way that it makes and manufactures.
Jimmy Fallon
You're changing it.
You're changing the whole game.
It's fantastic. And on top of that, you're also a fun human being to hang out with. Do you remember the first time we hung out?
Stella McCartney
Yeah, you do? But I, you know, I was thinking about it because it was when I just had my first child, who's now 21.
Jimmy Fallon
Is he really?
Stella McCartney
I know I look 15, and it's impossible for you to believe that I have a company.
Jimmy Fallon
Yeah, of course. 25, of course. Can you believe that?
Stella McCartney
But I just had my first kid and I just stopped breastfeeding. And we were at a huge concert in London with. Everyone was playing it. It was like this. It was Madonna, George Michael, everyone, Mariah Carey. My dad was headlining. So my dad, of course, because he's fabulous. Was closing the whole gig. And we were in the dressing room, me, you and Lorne. And I was like, I have just stopped breastfeeding. I am going to drink every drop of alcohol in this entire backstage area. And we were in my dad's backstage bit. And he likes so when he comes off stage. Cause he works hard, you know, he's on a three hour set, he comes off. And the one little ritual that he has as a reward is his margarita. He has a margarita. But that night he didn't really have much margarita because me and Jimmy drank all of the tequila.
Jimmy Fallon
That's it. As one does.
Stella McCartney
And my dad came back off and you know, it was like, Jesus. It was actually awful. My dad came back and he was like, yay.
Anne Hathaway
Woo.
Stella McCartney
Like, you're amazing.
Jimmy Fallon
Here's the water.
Stella McCartney
You know, looked to the drinks cabinet
Tariq Trotter (Black Thought)
and it was like, well, yeah, exactly.
Jimmy Fallon
Right. But since then we became friends. And you're like, who wants to do tequila? I'm like, I will. You're like, what's your name? I go, jimmy. Nice to meet you. And we've been friends ever since. I want to talk about 25 years of Stella McCartney. Your famous bag is called the Fallabella. It is indeed the Fallabella bag.
Stella McCartney
It's the Falabella bag.
Jimmy Fallon
Yeah. And the fala. What is Fallabella named after?
Stella McCartney
It's a horse. Oh, it's a horse. And it's great. I actually happen to have a little gift for you.
Jimmy Fallon
You have a gift?
Stella McCartney
I have a gift for you.
Jimmy Fallon
You are the gift.
Stella McCartney
Yeah. It's true.
Jimmy Fallon
Oh my gosh.
Stella McCartney
This gift is a special edition. Fallon Bella.
Jimmy Fallon
Wow.
Anne Hathaway
Wow.
Jimmy Fallon
Fantastic. I've never looked better.
Oh, my God. By the way, of course you would do something like this because you're too cool.
Stella McCartney
I want it back afterwards.
Jimmy Fallon
But you know, yes, of course I will give it. Right. Look at this, by the way, guys. Look at this.
Stella McCartney
That's a good bag.
Jimmy Fallon
That's a gorgeous bag. No, no leather. No leather. Oh, no, no. Yes, you're rocking it.
Stella McCartney
That is for your wife. She's gonna really like you tonight.
Jimmy Fallon
For real? Yeah. No.
Stella McCartney
You don't like Jimmy. Jimmy's getting laid.
Jimmy Fallon
Ain't no shame.
Come on. Don't play along. Don't encourage.
Stella McCartney
I'm so sorry. I apologize to your wife.
Jimmy Fallon
How. But look at everyone. Look at the quality on this.
Stella McCartney
So this is a completely vegan bag. It's basically not killing any animals, which means it's not cutting down your rainforest. It's. It's not using your water or electricity inefficiently or your grain. And it's also conscious and kind and cool and kick ass. The lining is made out of recycled plastic bottles from the ocean or the waste. And it's a recycled aluminum chain, and it is the Fallon Bella. Limited time only.
Jimmy Fallon
Limited time. On the Falon Bella, you do everything with quality. But tonight, because it's a special occasion, you're on our show. You wanted to go big and you, you wanted to show everyone this is a giant. You brought a bigger bag for me?
Stella McCartney
Only for you.
Jimmy Fallon
All right, can we bring it out? The Falabella. This is the biggest handbag in the history of fashion.
Stella McCartney
I mean, I'm called a big bag sometimes by my children.
Jimmy Fallon
No, but this is ridiculous. This is probably £300. Oh, my gosh. This is legit. This could fit. No, no, no. We don't have to wear this, Stella. We have to get in this.
Stella McCartney
Get in it.
Jimmy Fallon
We have to get in this bag.
Stella McCartney
You know, should we?
Jimmy Fallon
Dude, this guy.
Stella McCartney
People often ask me, what's in my bag? And now are we both getting in the bag?
Jimmy Fallon
I would love it if you did. Dude, this is so. Dude, this is so fun.
In the bag.
Hold on to me. Look at us. Come on. We are in. Wait, are you in?
Come on out. This bag. You are the coolest. Stella McCartney, everyone. To see more of Stella's design, go to StellaMacCartney.com or visit one of the many Stella McCartney stores around the world.
