This is it. Thank you for watching.
Well, guys, today President Trump traveled to South Korea for the last stop on his trip to Asia. Trump had many questions for South Korea's president, starting with which demon hunter are you? Trump and South Korea's president then had lunch where they were served kimchi, spinach, soybean paste soup, and mini beef patties with ketchup. Gee, I wonder who ate what. Well, tomorrow Trump will return to the US and host the annual White House Halloween party. Yeah, it's exciting for trick or treaters because this year everyone gets a little piece of the East Wing. Isn't that nice? I think that's cool.
There you go.
There you go. Yeah. Trump will give out candy, but if someone asks about the Epstein files. So he'll hit the lights and pretend he's not home. In honor of the White House Halloween party, it's time for a White House Halloween party. Moments we'll never forget. There you go.
There you have it.
Yeah, guys, Halloween is almost here. And I read that America's favorite Halloween treat is Reese's. But a lot of people like other treats, too. I'll show you what I mean in a new segment called Other Treats.
Other treats. Other treats. Now it's time for other treats.
First up, Snoop Dogg doesn't like Raisinets. His favorite treat is blazonettes.
Love em Treats.
Next up, kids don't like take five. Their favorite treat is take six. Seven.
That's another treat.
And finally, here's the last one. Elon Musk doesn't like starburst. He likes carbursts. That's it for other treats.
How about we hear another treat?
Jim Downey
No.
Jimmy Fallon
Sorry, no. That was all. That was the last. That was the last one.
Come on, man, just one more treat.
Um, okay, here's one. Shohei Ohtani doesn't like mounds. He likes pitcher's mounds.
That was rough. You owe me one more treat.
I really don't have any more. There's no more treats.
One more treat.
No more treats.
One more treat.
No more treats.
10 more treats.
10. No. The bit's over. I'm sorry.
You must give me one more treat. I am all powerful. Deliverest me thou treat or perish.
All right, all right. Okay. President Trump doesn't like butterfingers. He likes little fingers.
Jim Downey
Finally.
Jimmy Fallon
Oh, thank you.
Well, get this, get this. A woman is suing seaweed for $50,000 claiming she was on one of their roller coasters and a duck hit her in the face. And for everyone else, it was the most entertaining thing they saw at SeaWorld. And finally I saw that Uber said that they plan to have a fleet of 100,000 self driving vehicles by 2027. And if there's one thing you can trust, it's an ETA from Uber. We have a great show.
Give it up for the roost, everybody. The man at hand of Rural School of each and he's supplying to find their way from A to Z.
We got a big fun show. Welcome to the show, everybody. I want to quickly mention on Friday night is the season finale of my new show on Brand.
We're down to the final four contestants.
It's a full episode. Tune in Friday night at 8pm on NBC and then the next day on Peacock. Then watch the Tonight show on Monday night. We're gonna have the winner on as a guest.
Yeah, that's right, Omri.
But first, what a great show we have for you tonight. He's a very talented actor and writer who stars in the new film now youw See Me, now youw don't, which is in theaters November 14th.
Jessi Eisenberg is here tonight. The Mexican, the Best.
You know her from her starring role in the Hunting Wives. You can now see her in two new shows, her Netflix series the Beast in Me, which is out in November. And Murdoch Death in the Family, which is streaming now on Hulu. Brittany Snow is joining us today. She's great. He is a five time Emmy winning writer for Saturday Night Live and the subject of a new documentary, Downey wrote that, which is streaming now on Peacock. Gosh, if you love comedy or late night or Saturday Night Live, you have to watch it. It's a must see.
Jim Downey
You'll.
Jimmy Fallon
You'll totally dig it. He's also in one of the biggest movies of the year. One battle after another. Jim Downey is here tonight.
Jimbo. Jim Downey.
Super fun, guys. As I said earlier, Halloween's almost here and that reminded me of something that happened to me. Questlove and Trique the other day. Take a look at this. Thanks for coming out here, guys. Yeah, man, it's fun. We should do it more often. You guys want to hear a scary story? Okay, sure. There once was a man who was alone in the woods at night, on a night just like tonight. And he was very, very angry because he was very, very hungry. So he was hangry. He was very, very hangry. So he grabbed some eggs and he grabbed a blender and then he cracked those eggs and then he blended them. And then he blended them again. Wait a minute. How was he using a blender in the woods? What was he plugged into? That's the thing. The blender. It was cordless. Cordless. That's right. It's all part of the KitchenAid Go line of battery powered cordless appliances. One interchangeable battery powers them all, so they easily enhance your everyday life. Cordless blenders, food choppers, mixers, the hangry man use them all. Some say he even had a cordless.
Vacuum for a hand.
And then what happened? Well, when he was done blending the eggs, he took a chopper, he chopped the peppers. After the peppers, he grabbed the coffee grinder and he ground the coffee. And then he grabbed a citrus juicer and he juiced that orange to a bloody pulp. And then he. And then he.
He had breakfast.
Jim Downey
And he had it.
Jimmy Fallon
The omelette and the coffee and juice, all under the stars on a night just like tonight. Well, why was he having breakfast at night? Because breakfast time is any time. Wouldn't you agree? Whoa. Where'd that come from?
It came from me. Go to kitchenaid.com for more info on all the KitchenAid Go products. Happy Halloween, everybody. Our first guest is an Oscar nominated.
Actor and writer starring in the new film now youw See Me, now youw don't, which opens in theaters Friday, November 14th. Please welcome Jesse Eisenberg.
Hi, Jesse.
Jim Downey
Hi.
Jimmy Fallon
Welcome back.
Thank you again for coming on the show. We love having you on. I want to get into now youw See Me and Now youw don't, which is fantastic. It's great. It's the third one in the franchise.
Jesse Eisenberg
That's right.
Jimmy Fallon
And fans are very excited about this. There was Internet speculation.
Jesse Eisenberg
Yes.
Jimmy Fallon
You know what I'm about to say?
Jesse Eisenberg
I do.
Jimmy Fallon
That the real life Louvre museum heist was just some kind of promotion for your film. Yes. Can you clear that up and just admit it was ok? It was. That was very well done.
Perfect timing.
Jesse Eisenberg
You know, we're trying to get people to come back to theaters.
Jimmy Fallon
Yeah, people will come back to theaters.
Jesse Eisenberg
There's only so many kind of cute TikTok videos I can make and we have to do something A little outside the box.
Jimmy Fallon
You're great in these movies.
Jesse Eisenberg
Oh, thank you so much.
Jimmy Fallon
Is it fun to play this character and learn all these tricks and illusions?
Jesse Eisenberg
The only fun thing in my life is these now youw See Me movies. Like, yeah.
Jimmy Fallon
Like, you know, in life, in your acting career.
Jesse Eisenberg
In my life, I am, like, you know, you know, I'm a miserable person. And then, you know, I do movies where I play miserable people and I write things about miserable people. And then I, like, once every, you know, seven years, I do these amazing movies where, like, I play, like, the most confident magician on the planet. And, like, it just makes me feel so good about myself. You know, I'm standing up straight and I'm wearing a suit, and I feel so good. After these movies, I usually, you know, my therapist doesn't like when they do a sequel because, you know, I don't use him for a year.
Jimmy Fallon
Yeah, There you go. That's it.
Jesse Eisenberg
Yeah.
Jimmy Fallon
It actually helps you out.
Jesse Eisenberg
Yeah, exactly.
Jimmy Fallon
Great job. Again. What do we tell everyone and how do we set everyone up for now youw See Me, now youw Don't.
Jesse Eisenberg
Yes, now youw See Me truly is, like, an amazing movie. But there's all these magic tricks through the movie. But what's amazing about the movie is the entire movie in and of itself is a magic trick. And I don't want to, like, say anything or give it away. Cause it's like, the most incredible twist ending.
Jimmy Fallon
And again, I've said this to you to the last movie, but it's tough to do magic in a movie. Cause you just go. Yeah, just edit it and you cut it. And the card is the one card. Of course, we could have added whatever card.
Jim Downey
Yes.
Jesse Eisenberg
But in this movie, we did. Like, it's almost all practical magic.
Jimmy Fallon
Yes. And when you see it, you're gonna be amazed and go see it in the big screen. It's so fun.
Jesse Eisenberg, everybody. Now you see me, now you don't. Opens in theaters November 14th. We'll be right back with Britney Snow. Come on. Our next guest is a talented actress.
Starring in two new shows. Her Netflix series the Beast in me is available November 13th. And Murdoch death in the Family is streaming now on Hulu. Everyone, please welcome Brittany Snow. Welcome to the Tonight Show.
Brittany Snow
I am so excited to be here.
Jimmy Fallon
I'm so happy you're here. Oh, this is your first time?
Brittany Snow
Yeah.
Jimmy Fallon
With you.
Oh, my gosh. I'm so. I'm honored. I want to get into all of your. You have, like, 10 new shows on TV. It's amazing.
Brittany Snow
I wish it was 10.
Jimmy Fallon
You're working. You're crushing it. You got three. I mean, thank you. Hunting Wives. Congratulations. That was the biggest hit. That was phenomenal.
Brittany Snow
It was wild. You watched it?
Jimmy Fallon
I did, definitely. Everyone watched it.
I guess.
Brittany Snow
You had Malin here.
Jimmy Fallon
Yeah.
Brittany Snow
And she had a vote with her wig.
Jimmy Fallon
Malin Ackerman came on. We talked about. Everyone was talking about the wigs on the show and her wig, and I didn't even know it was a big controversy, but.
Brittany Snow
Oh, yeah.
Jimmy Fallon
And then I asked you, and you actually, you said that your dog was on set.
Brittany Snow
This was the bigger controversy.
Jimmy Fallon
Yeah. I didn't know your dog is wearing a wig. I mean, is that. Is that your dog's real hair or is that a wig? We don't know.
Brittany Snow
Weirdly enough, it is not her hair.
Jimmy Fallon
Although it's Scandal.
Brittany Snow
Perfect match.
Jimmy Fallon
Scandal.
Brittany Snow
Charlie came from the same box that I think we found Malin's wig in.
Jimmy Fallon
Oh, my God.
Jesse Eisenberg
Can we.
Jimmy Fallon
What do we know about season two? Can we talk about Hunting Wives at all? Is it happening? Is it done?
Brittany Snow
It's happening. We start in two weeks.
Jimmy Fallon
Okay.
Brittany Snow
Actually, yes. Yeah.
Jimmy Fallon
Thank you. All right.
I'm excited.
Brittany Snow
I'm excited, too.
Jimmy Fallon
I found an article. It was actually before the first thing you did to get famous. You were on Guiding Light.
I was.
Brittany Snow
When I was, like, 12 years old.
Jimmy Fallon
12 years old.
Mm.
And do you remember this interview that this magazine did with you? This is.
Brittany Snow
What is my hair doing?
Jimmy Fallon
What do you mean? It's so cute.
Come on.
Brittany Snow
This mushroom.
Jimmy Fallon
This is 1998.
Brittany Snow
Yeah.
Jimmy Fallon
And they asked you all these great questions, and I thought it'd be kind of funny if I asked you the same questions now to see if they're the same as your answer was in 1998.
Brittany Snow
OK. All right.
Jimmy Fallon
Do you remember this?
Brittany Snow
I do not remember this.
Jimmy Fallon
Okay. How I want to spend New Year's Eve 1999. And you said partying.
Brittany Snow
Is it in all caps?
Jimmy Fallon
It is in all caps. Is that you?
Brittany Snow
I don't know what partying was. Yeah, I was, like, staying up late and having Coke. Actual Coke.
Jimmy Fallon
Coca Cola.
Yeah. Coca Cola. Coca Cola.
Brittany Snow
You guys definitely would.
Jimmy Fallon
The business is hard, kids. The business is rough.
Brittany Snow
You would have heard about it if.
Jimmy Fallon
I had heard about it.
Jim Downey
Wow.
Jimmy Fallon
Yes. Coca Cola. Of course, yes. Pepsi. Any?
Brittany Snow
Yeah.
Jimmy Fallon
Okay, here we go. Smartest thing I ever did, you said say no to drugs. Well, we know.
That'S what I said.
Brittany Snow
The smartest thing I ever did.
Jimmy Fallon
The smartest thing you ever did, you said no to drugs.
Brittany Snow
Well, at 13 I hope I did good.
Jimmy Fallon
I love that favorite song you said. Do you remember the song that you liked when you were kidding?
Brittany Snow
I think it was Love shack by the B52s.
Jimmy Fallon
That is correct. It was love shack by the B52s. I want to talk about your numerous projects. One is Murdoch Death in the Family, which is streaming right now on Hulu. It is a crime drama based on the true crime story.
Brittany Snow
Yes. I love murder mysteries and I love true crime and I love mysteries in general.
Jimmy Fallon
Yeah, me too.
Brittany Snow
Yeah.
Jimmy Fallon
Oh, you too.
Brittany Snow
You're one of those girls.
Jimmy Fallon
I'm one of those girls, yes. But let's talk about your show, the Beast in Me.
Brittany Snow
Yes.
Jimmy Fallon
Okay. Your character is great. You're married to Matthew Rhys and he. Man, he's scary.
Brittany Snow
He is. He's not scary in real life. He's actually very gregarious and lovely. But no, on the show, you don't know necessarily if he's killed his wife. His ex wife before me.
Jimmy Fallon
Yeah, but he does it really well.
Brittany Snow
Oh, he's so good.
Jimmy Fallon
Yes. Is it harder doing scenes with him when he's, like, in character?
Brittany Snow
It's actually very easy because he's so funny and we were having so much fun right before, but he can snap into it and be a villain right away. There was one scene that we actually had to do, though, and we're sort of fighting and I do have to slap him across the face. And we were having so much fun and sort of joking around, and then they yelled, action. I just got caught up in the moment and I love him and I was joking around. I just smacked him right across the face. And he was like, oh, my God. I can hear the ringing in my ears. That's a Welsh accent. It's not a good one.
Jimmy Fallon
You really slapped him.
Brittany Snow
I dropped down right to the floor and I was like, I'm so sorry. I'm sorry. But I think that that's what they used in the show. So if you watch the show not to give anything away, I do slap him.
Jimmy Fallon
Yeah, there you go. So you get to see a real slap. That's what I'm talking about. That's meth. How do we. How do we set up the Beast in me? And who do you play?
Brittany Snow
I play Nina Jarvis. She's Niall Jarvis wife. And she is the second wife to a wife that had recently been killed. But you don't know who killed her. And I'm trying my very best to look out for my husband, but Aggie, Claire Danes character is doing a book and writing a Book on my husband. And so I'm sort of hesitant about that.
Jimmy Fallon
Ho, ho, ho.
Britney Snow, everybody. The Beast in me is available November 13th on Netflix and Murdoch Death and the Family is streaming now on Hulu. We'll be right back with Jim Downey. Stick around, everybody. Thank you so much. I appreciate it. Our next guest is a five time.
Emmy winner and the longest tenured writer in the history of Saturday Night Live. He's also the subject of a new documentary, Downey wrote that, which is streaming now on Peacock. Everyone please welcome Jim Downey. Jim, you've worked in late night, but this is your first time as a guest. And thank you so much for doing this because I know you normally don't like to do this.
Jim Downey
No, not really. I like to be out there or back there.
Jimmy Fallon
Yeah, but you're doing this as a favor to me. I just want to let everyone know things that Jim Downey has written.
Jim Downey
You owe me.
Jimmy Fallon
No, I know I do.
Jim Downey
Yeah.
Jimmy Fallon
Chippendale's sketch with Patrick Swayze and Chris Farley. The Chris Farley talk show. You were the head writer of Weekend Update with Norm MacDonald, the head writer of Late Night with David Letterman. You wrote for Dana Carvey when he played President Bush. Knock on dot, knock on dot. And you wrote for Will Ferrell when he played President George W. Bush and wrote the word strategery. That is definitely. That's some of the things you've done and some of the great things you've done. I first met you at Sirent Live when I started in 98. Do you remember meeting me?
Jim Downey
I remember Jimmy, Jimmy sent jokes to Update when I was working on Update with Norm MacDonald. And I think we used some of them. And then we, a few years later, Jimmy was hired as a feature player in the cast in like, 98. And you called me, wanted to have dinner with me in 2000 because Lauren had suggested that Jimmy take over Update and you wanted my opinion. And I said, you know, I don't know if you want to do Update. It's, it's, it's a personality act. It's like we would, you, we'd lose you from sketches. You wouldn't be able to do characters and impressions, everything. And it's like, if you wanted to do like a, like a talk show or something down the road, Update would be okay. But I, I, I urged Jimmy not to do it.
Jimmy Fallon
And now I'm the host of the Tonight. Thank God, thank God, thank God, thank God.
Jim Downey
You didn't listen to my dreadful, dreadful career.
Jimmy Fallon
No, you always gave Me the best advice. Are you nervous doing a documentary? When they come up to you, you're like, I don't want to do a documentary.
Jim Downey
Well, the tough thing is when there's nothing to shoot. When you're. When you're doing a documentary about a writer, you know, there's a writer coming up with an idea. Doesn't look interesting on camera.
Jimmy Fallon
Yeah, I guess.
Jim Downey
And if you track someone like 24, 7, so you're. So you're with him or with him and the other writers when, you know. Yes, you might get a few seconds, but it's a really low density thing.
Jimmy Fallon
No, it is so fascinating. And you got all these great people talking about you. Maya Rudolph is talking about you. David Letterman saying great things about you. Obviously Lorne and Saturday Night Live, which were very kind. You were rarely on camera. But I have a clip here that I'm gonna show of you actually being on camera with Dave Letterman. I think.
Jim Downey
I think I know the one. Yeah.
Jimmy Fallon
Do you know. Do you want to set. Do you know?
Jim Downey
It's. We would do a segment called Viewer Mail where we take actual letters and just use them as an excuse to do some sort of goofy freeform thing. And. And I had been on the week before, in order to avoid doing laundry, the. The writers would just wear college T shirts that had been sent in. We'd get like, boxes of them every week. And so I was wearing one from the University of Wazeca at Steuben in Wisconsin. We got a letter about that.
Jimmy Fallon
Yeah, here we go. Here's a Jim Downey on Late Night with David Letterman, 1983.
Jim Downey
Dear Dave, on Wednesday, June 15th, I saw your head writer wearing a shirt that said University of Wazeka at Steuben. I was wondering how he got the shirt. I live in Wazika and have been. Have seen those shirts here, but never expected to see one on your show. Psychological. Does anyone there really know where Wazika or Steuben is? Well, gee, let's find out. Mr. Downey is. Jim. Jim, could you come? Yeah. Jim, I'm sure Kathy would be interested in. In knowing where you got the. The T shirt that said Wazika and Steuben and so forth.
Jimmy Fallon
I've never even heard of the place.
Jim Downey
You didn't go to school there?
Jimmy Fallon
No, never. Never heard of it.
Jim Downey
Yeah. Then how is it that you were wearing a shirt that said University of Wazeka at Steuben?
Jimmy Fallon
Am I in some kind of trouble, Dave?
Jim Downey
No, Jim, no. This is just. We're trying to find out the origin of the shirt and so forth. Where did you get that shirt?
Jimmy Fallon
Well, I don't know, but sometimes I wear shirts without really reading what's on them. Come on.
That's how you do it.
Thank you again for coming on. And thank you for always being nice to me and always rooting for me ever since. I know. And you still do. Yeah. I love you, buddy. That's Jim Downey right there.
The documentary Downey Road that is streaming now on Peacock. Stick around, everybody. My thanks to Jesse Eisenberg, Britney Snow, Jim Downey and the roots from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Good night, everybody. Thank Sara.
