Welcome, welcome, welcome to the Tonight Show. This is it.
Well, hey, this is great. Today is Nurses Appreciation Day.
That's what I'm talking about. Thank you.
Thank you. Nurses, you have one of the toughest jobs. You're the ones who have to say, Mr. President, the gown is supposed to open in the back. Yes, yes. You're the ones who have to butter the MRI machine so that the President can squeeze in and out, you know, and then write down the number he gives you. You know, on the bright side, doctors are the ones who have to hold his ballroom while he coughs. So that's. Well, speaking of Trump, I read that he's now working on a one page memo to end the war in Iran. A one page memo? This more paperwork involves sending your kid to a trampoline park?
I mean, what is he talking.
Well, this week the White House claimed that Operation Epic Fury was over and that they were moving on to a new phase of the war called Project Freedom. We actually got a recording of Trump and his staff talking about it in the Oval Office. Watch this. Sir. Operation Epic Fury is a bust. We need a rebrand. Any name, ideas?

Jimmy Fallon

Jimmy Fallon (voice impression or sketch)
Did you say shots? Not the drink.
Jimmy Fallon
Aw, I give up.
Jimmy Fallon (voice impression or sketch)
This is totally useless.
Brendan Fraser
You call us dead?
Jimmy Fallon (voice impression or sketch)
No, just name it something stupid like Project Freedom.
Jimmy Fallon
That's pretty good.
Yay. It all worked out.
And did you see this? Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth just denied a report that Iran is using kamikaze dolphins in the Strait of Hormuz, but said the US Military might be. And if kamikaze dolphins don't work, they're gonna send in cocaine bear. So kamikaze dolphins switching gears is how the sports betting company Kalshi has launched features to keep kids off the website. Yep, they just put out this commercial. Check this out.

Brendan Fraser
Jesus, guys, I think that'll work.
Jimmy Fallon
I think that'll work. Oh my God. Well, some entertainment news. I read that Taylor Swift just filed the trademark. Her voice taking the first legal steps against AI and deepfakes. Ooh, wow. Maybe I should do something like that before someone steals my voice. Too late, Jimmy. Sorry, who said that? I did. Jimmy, unfortunately you didn't trademark your voice, so now it's mine. Hashtag sorrynotsorry.
What?
Come on man, that's my voice. You can't just steal it. Well, I can and I did. Besides, I kinda dig it. I feel like it works with my whole vibe, you know? Can I at least buy it back? I mean, how much do you want?
Kate Mara
Hmm.
Jimmy Fallon
Well, I am kind of hungry. How's 10 bucks for a couple slices of pizza? 10 bucks? That's a little steep. What about 5 bucks? Let's meet in the middle. How's 8 bucks, 6 bucks, 7 bucks and you throw in a root beer. Okay, deal. You want cash?
Brendan Fraser
Nah, just venmo me.
Jimmy Fallon
Thanks, I appreciate it. Enjoy the pizza.
And finally, a 49 year old man
beat a world record by pulling an over 20,000 pound bus with his neck. Yeah, like everyone else, he tried to avoid touching anything on the bus with his hands.
We have a great show. Give it up for the Roots right now. What a show we have for you tonight.
He's the best frontman in the history of rock and roll. His band the Rolling Stones have a
new album out July 10th called Foreign Tongues. Mick Jagger is here. July what Are you talking about? What are you doing? What do you name? Come on, foreign tongues. July 10th.
We're doing something fun with him a little late in the show, so stick around for that. Also, he's an Academy award winning actor who is starring in the new film Pressure, which is in theaters May 29th.
Brendan Fraser is here tonight. Love that man. Best delight.
She stars in the Apple TV series Imperfect Women, which is streaming now. Kate Mara is joining us. Guys, it is time for tonight's show. Hashtag, here we go. So with Mother's Day coming up this weekend, I sent out the hashtag momquotes and asked you to post some funny or weird things that your mom has said. Within minutes, it was a trending topic in the US So thank you for playing along with us. And now I thought I'd share some of my favorite mom quotes from you guys. All right, here we go. This first one is from kdeja. She said my mom used to say about my friend, she can talk the balls off a pool table. Oh, well, is that a compliment? Yeah.
Brendan Fraser
I don't know.
Jimmy Fallon
I've never heard of that one. This next one's from the pool table. There you go. Left ball, side pocket. This next One is from Onzimbo 2. His mom once said, if your dad was more handsome, you might have more brothers.
Whoa.
This next One is from 8,785. She said, When I got an ice cube stuck in my throat, mom said, calm down. It'll melt before you pass out. That makes me. Thanks, Mom. This next one is from Urditweet16. She said, if I were acting up as kids, mom would say, you better straighten up before you jerk a knot in your tail. We knew what that meant. I don't know if I know what. I don't think I know what that means. I don't know what that means. I don't know.
Jimmy Fallon (voice impression or sketch)
Jerk.
Jimmy Fallon
A knot in your. I guess with a pool table, right? I don't know, man. I don't think it has anything to do with the pool. Next one's from Anniezboy. She said, my mom always told me to go braless because it'll pull the wrinkles from your face. Mom quotes. Ah. Mom never heard that either.
Wow. Woo.
This next one's from Louie. He said, when I was young, the karate kid was popular. Mom and I were cooking together in the kitchen. She goofs around, slaps me in the face with a bag of hamburger buns and yells, bunsai, Daniel son. Buns. Bun's eye. Buns eye. Yeah, like Bun like the bun in his eye. This one. This next one's from lay 075. He said while messing around on the riding mower, my mom said, hey, if you cut your leg off, don't come running to me for help. Finally, this Last one's from BrendanBurkenRT. His mom always said, I don't lose things, I relocate them permanently. There you have it.
Those are our Tonight show hashtags. Come on back for tonight's show. Our first guest is an Oscar winning
actor who stars in the new film Pressure, which is in theaters everywhere on May 29th. Please welcome Brendan Fraser.
Bella Diaz. Thank you, Brendan. Thank you. Welcome back. They love. We love you. We love you.
Brendan Fraser
Thank you. Jimmy.
Jimmy Fallon
Come on, bud. Thanks for coming back on the show. We always love when you're here. We just had Mick Jagger out here.
I saw.
Yeah, it's fun. Are you a big Rolling Stones fan?
Brendan Fraser
When he had a concert in. I was in grade eight, living in Seattle. I wasn't allowed to go because I was at parochial school. But, you know, rock and roll was scary and bad.
Jimmy Fallon
Yeah.
Brendan Fraser
And I'm happy that I almost met him.
Jimmy Fallon
Yeah, yeah. It counts. That counts as a concert.
Yeah.
Last time you were on, by the way, you're always a great guest and we love having you on here. You did a sketch with us where you played Gilvan of the tree.
Brendan Fraser
Yes.
Jimmy Fallon
And I was Goatleg Greg. And here's Brendan in the. You were in a nest. You were in a bird's nest. And you would play the flute or the lute.
Brendan Fraser
It was the lute, right?
Jimmy Fallon
Yes, I think it was the lute. Yeah. And you had these great teeth in there. And I just remember them. They didn't really fit right. They kept falling out. And it was. Gosh, you just ran with it like a pro. And I really appreciate that.
Brendan Fraser
Actually, I think I swallowed them.
Jimmy Fallon
Yeah, I think you might have. We need them back. Yeah, they're expensive. But here's what I love about this. Ten days after this sketch, you won an Oscar. Come on, boy.
That's ten days after. That's why we love you. That's why we love you.
Dignity, dignity always. Dignity, always. Yeah. Everyone was so excited when you won. What's going through your mind when you heard your name?
Brendan Fraser
I was astonished. I didn't know what to expect. I know me and all the other guys were just waiting for them to just say anyone's name. It was like a piano wire of tension, you know?
Jimmy Fallon
Does it feel like a long time?
Brendan Fraser
You were on a gauntlet Doing that. Oh, yeah, you know, press tour kind of thing.
Jimmy Fallon
And do you remember what you said? I know you thanked me.
Brendan Fraser
I know that I got to thank everyone. I did. I had a fancy speech in my pocket. I forgot everything. And I guess I made it backstage and I kind of got lost. And it's funny, I know you're surrounded by people, but they said no. You go from stage left to stage right. And I was going behind the scrim and suddenly there were no people there. And I'm looking at this gold naked man holding a sword.
Jimmy Fallon
Yeah, yeah, yeah. And
Brendan Fraser
then Jimmy Kimmel comes walking by going, hey, you did great. And I'm like, what just happened? And he kind of just went, yeah, you're up. And he kept going. I made it out after we did a bunch of press. And then the street, well, the streets were all locked down around Hollywood Boulevard when you do the Oscars. And it's funny, you know, all this glitz and glam. And then behind the Kodak Theater, we were looking for the golf cart or some sort of vehicle to get us wherever we're supposed to go next. And the streets are all locked down. There are people behind wire fences and they're all like, brandon, this is my Oscar. And then I started recognizing the streets. Like, I was like, oh, wow. I think that's the alleyway that I once shot a video with Tone Loke for the movie Encino Man.
Jimmy Fallon
Wow.
Brendan Fraser
I'm serious.
Jimmy Fallon
And did you think it was like a this is your life moment?
Brendan Fraser
Well, he contributed this song. It was called. I think it was Cool Hand Loke went on the soundtrack.
Jimmy Fallon
Wow.
Brendan Fraser
And for the life of me, I've been AI Google doogle, all this stuff. I can't find this video.
Jimmy Fallon
Cool Hand Loke.
Brendan Fraser
Cool Hand, look. I was drag racing with Tone Loke. Wow. In an alleyway.
Jimmy Fallon
And it was that.
Brendan Fraser
And I beat him too. And he had the fancy car and he kept getting mad at me because I had like the souped up looking red convertible with the power shifting buttons in the front.
Jimmy Fallon
Yeah.
Brendan Fraser
I don't know. It was a very altered experience.
Jimmy Fallon
Yeah, that sounds surreal to me. Yeah. To be holding it up.
Brendan Fraser
That's what happened blow by blow.
Jimmy Fallon
But I mean, man, you were great in the Whale and you had Sadie Sink was your daughter in the film. And she's fantastic as well.
Brendan Fraser
She's fantastic. And right now she is playing the part she was born to. And it was written by William Shakespeare. She's on the West End right now as Juliet.
Jimmy Fallon
That's right. She's Doing Romeo and Juliet. Good for Sandy.
We love you.
Well, there's some pretty big news that's kind of breaking the Internet regarding you. People are saying that you're getting another mummy film back together. Is this true or are you doing another. You are doing it.
Thank you, buddy.
What do we know about it so far? Is there anything you're allowed to tell?
Brendan Fraser
Well, we're gonna get the band back together.
Jimmy Fallon
Yes.
Brendan Fraser
The only way to do it. Right.
Jimmy Fallon
Yeah, of course.
Brendan Fraser
So we're going to give the audience what they have been bothering all of us for. For the last 20, whatever years.
Jimmy Fallon
Did you ever think they were gonna do this?
Brendan Fraser
I was hopeful for a long while and then I was like, no, I don't know if they are, you know, other mummy movies got made. But anyway, look, what we're gonna do is saddle back up, go back to the locations. I should probably stop talking like this.
Jimmy Fallon
Okay. All right.
Okay. Yeah.
Brendan Fraser
However, I know that please wish me luck. I'm doing my best to get this 57 year old gear in shape.
Jimmy Fallon
Oh, my God.
Brendan Fraser
You're gonna be.
Jimmy Fallon
You know how to do it, buddy. You know how to do it. I cannot wait. I heard that to get you in character for the role that Universal took you to your ride. You have a ride. The Mummy ride at Universal Studios. Here you are. And look at that.
Brendan Fraser
Can you spot me?
Jimmy Fallon
See you right there.
Brendan Fraser
This is right as the guy goes, don't wear your hat, it'll get blown off.
Jimmy Fallon
Yeah. It's one of the best rides. By the way, every time I go to Universal, I make sure to go on this ride. I always take my kids on it. I go, this is the best ride because there's a surprise in the ride. I don't want to spoil it for anybody, but I have a ride as well.
You do?
Brendan Fraser
Yeah, and I haven't been on it yet. I'd like to.
Jimmy Fallon
Perhaps you haven't been on it yet.
Brendan Fraser
I have not been on it.
Jimmy Fallon
Well, you have to go on it.
Brendan Fraser
I know I do.
Jimmy Fallon
It's the most fun. You're gonna really love it.
Brendan Fraser
I'll be there. Yeah, you count on it.
Jimmy Fallon
You can wear your hat on my ride. But I just love that. I just love that you went on this. It's one of the best rides ever. This is Crusher. Already it's happening. The Mummy is coming back. I cannot wait to see it.
But we're here to talk about your
new film called Pressure. In this film you play Dwight D. Eisenhower during World War II. It's a true story about a Huge part of the. And it came down to one guy, the weatherman.
Brendan Fraser
I didn't know that the premise of this movie was that in 1944, on Monday, June 5, that was D Day originally. And inbound weather was awful. Troops would not have been able to land safely if they were not already under peril. Clearly they were. But for a boulder in the stream type of performance from Andrew Scott, let me tell you, he played a meteorologist who came forward and told the Joint Chiefs of Staff that weekend before that they needed to delay or else there would have been absolute disaster. And so this is the weekend before D Day and all of the conversations that take place now, we all know that D day was Tuesday, June 6, 1944. And that was because they had delayed for about 14 hours, 16 hours to land in Operation Overlord in normandy with some 130,000 troops. And they did so safely by taking advantage of a gap in the weather.
Jimmy Fallon
Really?
Brendan Fraser
Yeah, of some, I don't know, like 12 or 14 hours. And that's when those troops went. Otherwise they would have had to wait until the 18th, when the moon had changed cycles, the tides would have risen differently, and clearly the enemy would have known they were on their way. But as it turns out, the enemy thought they'd be crazy to attack in weather like this. But Eisenhower said, we're going on the advice of this meteorologist. And when he was asked about it 20 years later in an interview remembering D Day by Walter Cronkite on the beaches, he asked, you know, how did you do it? And like Eisenhower said, well, we just had better weathermen than the Germans did.
Jimmy Fallon
Wow. Did you ever think that you would play Eisenhower?
Brendan Fraser
No. No, I didn't. When Anthony Maris, our director, contacted me, I was like, I didn't know anything about this.
Jimmy Fallon
Yeah.
Brendan Fraser
History hadn't really taught me that. And I was like, me, Really? I don't really look like Eisenhower. I mean, I can, you know.
Jimmy Fallon
Yeah.
Brendan Fraser
Which is a lot of fun. But he sent me a photo of myself alongside Dwight Eisenhower and I went, oh, okay, I can see it.
Jimmy Fallon
This is you next to a picture of a. Not bad. That's fantastic. That didn't look like you. Amazing.
Brendan Fraser Kretcher is in theaters May 29th. We'll be right back, everybody.
Our next guest is an Emmy nominated actress starring in the series Imperfect Women, which is streaming all episodes on Apple tv. Please welcome Kate Mara.
Hey, welcome back to the show.
Thanks for being here. You know, every time you come on the Tonight show, it feels like there's another milestone in your life. Cause you were getting engaged at one point, then you got married at one point, then you're having a baby. Since I last saw you, you had another baby. And then most recently, you and your family moved back to New York.
Kate Mara
Yeah. Yes.
Jimmy Fallon
So it's a new year.
Kate Mara
I like to celebrate everything here with you.
Jimmy Fallon
You have to celebrate everything. Are you happy to be back in New York?
Kate Mara
I'm so happy. I mean, I'm from New York, so coming back, you know, I feel like I've come back home. I was in LA for 20 something years, so it's wild to be back.
Jimmy Fallon
You did your time out there, but now you're back with the family.
Kate Mara
I'm back with the family. We moved to be closer to my parents and my siblings and to be closer to the New York Giants.
Jimmy Fallon
Yeah. I mean, your great grandfather founded the New York Giants. I don't know if anyone knows this. This is true. And your dad still works with the Giants.
Kate Mara
Yeah.
Jimmy Fallon
Your kids are very young, but do they have any understanding about the family's tradition?
Kate Mara
Yes, they do. I mean, I've got a. We have a 3 year old, almost 7 year old, and I have a 12 year old stepson as well. And the little ones, they know that on Sunday when the Giants are playing that if they win that pops, their grandpa will either be, you know, happy, sad, or pissed.
Jimmy Fallon
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Kate Mara
It's like one of those three emotions. Yeah.
Jimmy Fallon
If they win, he'll be happy. Grandpa. If they lose, let's just go, we'll see him tomorrow.
Kate Mara
Yeah. Or he'll need, like extra hugs on certain days, you know?
Jimmy Fallon
That's so funny.
Kate Mara
I know. You wonder like, how it's gonna affect them when they get older.
Jimmy Fallon
No. Yeah. But are they understanding how, like, how much it is in the blood of the family? I mean, you guys are always, I mean.
Kate Mara
Yes. When I say that the Giants are on to. We're gonna watch the Giants game. My little three year old will go, oh, no. Yeah, he'll literally. It makes. It scares him because last season was rough. But. But next year.
Jimmy Fallon
That's so funny.
Kate Mara
Next season is gonna. He's gonna be so happy.
Jimmy Fallon
Okay, good.
All right, good. It's gonna be good next year.
Good. Go Giants.
Kate Mara
Yeah.
Jimmy Fallon
I was talking to you backstage. You were talking about the Tony Awards. The nomination just came out and you were saying that you've always wanted to be on Broadway or do something on Broadway.
Kate Mara
That was. I mean, moving back to New York really reignited my childhood, you know, my passion as a little kid. What Made me wanna be an actor. Was Broadway going to Broadway shows and everything. So being back home, I'm able to go to all the shows now, and it just, like, has reignited that sort of love.
Jimmy Fallon
It's amazing.
Kate Mara
Yeah.
Jimmy Fallon
Have you ever auditioned or thought about to.
Kate Mara
Yes, My first. When I was 14, my first heartbreak, I would say, was auditioning for the Sound of Music on Broadway.
Jimmy Fallon
Ooh.
Kate Mara
I was auditioning, you know, all the Von Trapp children. Of course, there's, like, seven of them.
Jimmy Fallon
Yes.
Kate Mara
Do you actually know them so long.
Jimmy Fallon
Yeah.
Kate Mara
There you go. So I was auditioning to play the second oldest girl, Luisa. And, you know, they all have. They have to line up like this. It has to be, like, tallest to smallest.
Jimmy Fallon
Yeah, the cute. Yeah, the little one says.
Kate Mara
Right. So very specific height. You need to be a specific height to be in the show. And I am not a tall lady. Shocker. I'm like five foot two now.
Jimmy Fallon
Okay.
Kate Mara
But when I was 14, I was also five foot two. Why is that funny? But I auditioned, and I was there till the end. I had, like, six callbacks. They kept getting rid of kids. And then all of a sudden, it was just, like, seven of us standing there all in the line. And I looked to my right, and the girl who was, you know, playing my older sister was the same height as me. And I just thought, like, oh, and
Jimmy Fallon
did you kind of shrink a little bit?
Kate Mara
Well, they. That was it. They cut me out. I was too tall. They were scared I was gonna grow more. So that was it. That was my dream. My Broadway dreams died because I was too tall at 5 foot 2.
Jimmy Fallon
5 foot 2, you think you could have slumped a little bit?
Kate Mara
I prayed. I prayed every day, don't grow. I want to be on Broadway. And it worked.
Jimmy Fallon
It didn't work.
Kate Mara
It didn't work because I'm not on Broadway. But I am five two.
Jimmy Fallon
Yeah, you're five two. You're perfect. You were the perfect height. I don't want you to be any taller, but come back and do Broadway, please.
Kate Mara
I hope so.
Jimmy Fallon
Yeah. We want to see.
Kate Mara
Give me a job.
Jimmy Fallon
Let's manifest this. We'd love to see you. How's your sister Rooney doing as well?
Kate Mara
She's great.
Jimmy Fallon
Please tell her I said hello.
Kate Mara
I will.
Jimmy Fallon
You just shot something with her, right? You did a movie?
Kate Mara
Yeah. Yep, we did a movie together.
Jimmy Fallon
Was that fun, doing it with your sister?
Kate Mara
It was amazing.
Brendan Fraser
Yeah.
Jimmy Fallon
Of course.
Kate Mara
We did a movie called Bucking Fastered, which is a.
Jimmy Fallon
Thank you for saying that. Slow.
Kate Mara
Yeah.
Jimmy Fallon
Yeah. I appreciate it.
Kate Mara
Yes. People think I mess it up every time.
Jimmy Fallon
Bucking fastered.
Kate Mara
But they sent us the script and I read the title and went, yep, there you go.
Jimmy Fallon
Yeah, I like this. Yeah, it's gonna be fun.
Kalshi Commercial Voice
Yeah.
Jimmy Fallon
Yeah. Come back when that's. That's coming out.
Kate Mara
Yeah, we will. We'll come together.
Jimmy Fallon
Come together. Yeah, it'll be perfect. Let's talk about imperfect women. Oh, my gosh, what a cast. This is Kerry Wasington, Elizabeth Moss. Did you guys know each other before this?
Kate Mara
Yeah, Kerry and I have known each other since, I think since I was about 14. We had the same manager when we were kids.
Jimmy Fallon
Oh, my gosh.
Kate Mara
Yeah.
Jimmy Fallon
And she got the part in Sound of Music. Yeah.
Kate Mara
Damn her.
Jimmy Fallon
Yeah.
Kate Mara
Yeah. I've known her for a while.
Jimmy Fallon
This is great. It is a gripping psychological thriller. How do you set up the series and who you play?
Kate Mara
Well, my character is dead on arrival.
Jimmy Fallon
Spoiler.
Kate Mara
Yeah, it's not a spoiler. But before the show even starts, she's already dead. Yes, but then the show follows these three best friends. The other two living friends are trying to figure out what happened to my character, Nancy.
Jimmy Fallon
Yes.
Kate Mara
Lots of twists and turns.
Jimmy Fallon
It can't matter, everybody. All episodes of Imperfect Women are streaming now on Apple tv. More Tonight show after the break. Stick around. My thanks to Brendan Fraser, Kate Mara, and Larouche right there from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Good night, everybody. Thank you. Do. Get involved.
