Jimmy Fallon
From Studio 6P in Rockefeller's castle in the heart of New York City, it's a Tonight show starring Jimmy Fallon. I joined Jimmy and his guest, Vince Vaughn. Adam Devine, Jason Lee Wonder. Featuring the legendary Ruth Cru. 212 second. And now, here he is. Gimmick. Come on. That's a great crowd. Welcome. Thank you very much. Enjoy yourself. Enjoy yourself. Welcome, everybody. Welcome to the Tonight Show. You're here. You made it. Thank you very much. Oh, in a good mood. What a fantastic day we had here in New York City, huh?
Vince Vaughn
Isn't that beautiful?
Jimmy Fallon
It was 73 and beautiful. By the way, 73 and beautiful is also the new Lifetime movie about Bill Belichick and his girlfriend. That's right. We love Coach Belichick. In fact, it was such a beautiful day, Bill said he wished he had more holes in his sweatshirt just to feel the breeze. Yeah. Some political news. Last night, President Trump sat down with ABC's Terry Moran for his first broadcast interview since taking office. Yeah. Trump claimed that. Yeah, we'll get to some jokes. Here we go. Trump claimed that egg prices are down, gasoline is down, and groceries are down. Then a staffer said, sir, those charts are your approval rating. He said, oh, okay. But over the course of the interview, things got pretty heated between Trump and Moran. Watch this. Do you trust him? I don't trust you. I don't trust. I don't trust a lot of people. I don't trust you. This is why people no longer believe the news, because when he was photographed. I mean, you're being dishonest. No, I'm not. I don't have 100% confidence that we're going to finish this interview.
Vince Vaughn
We will.
Jimmy Fallon
Hey, they're giving you the big break of a lifetime. You know, you're doing the interview. I picked you because, frankly, I never heard of you. But that's okay. I mean, what kind of interview is this? I thought you were gonna ask me if 100 men could beat a gorilla. Not about the tariffs. I don't know about the tariffs. Yeah. Trump lashed out and said, I picked you because, frankly, I never heard of you. It's the same thing he's told J.D. vance. That's why I don't know who you are. Meanwhile, it just came out today that for the first three months of this year, the US Economy shrank. Trump was like, well, it was the three coldest months. Of course, it was shrinkage. All the experts say the economy is in pretty rough shape. However, Trump's doctor says it's the healthiest economy he's ever seen. Some more news from Washington today. Trump held a cabinet meeting and Elon Musk. Elon Musk decided to have a little fun. Take a look at this Elon. I love the double hat, by the way. He's the only one that can do that, get away with it.
Vince Vaughn
Well, Mr. President, now.
Jimmy Fallon
They say I wear a lot of hats. It's true. Even my hat has a hat. Actually makes perfect sense. Having Elon and Trump both in charge feels like a hat on a hat. Actually, after 100 kids, that's not where Elon should be wearing those two hats. Hey, whoa, hey. Whoa, whoa, hey. Whoa, whoa. That's too far, man. That's too far, dude. You took it too far, dude. You crossed the line. You crossed the line on that one, man.
Vince Vaughn
Jimmy hat.
Jimmy Fallon
Yeah, it was a pretty long cabinet meeting, and it seemed like even Trump was a little bored during it. Watch this.
Adam Devine
This is a South Dakota ranching family named the Mauds under the Biden administration. They had of their several hundred acre operation. They used about 20 acres and had a fence that had been there since 1910 when their family took over. Took over the ranching operation.
Jimmy Fallon
Well, he did say he would fight wokeness, so. God, it's been so long. I forget what it's like to have a president who's fully conscious. They would have spritzed Trump with a water bottle, but that was being used to stop J.D. vance from humping the couch. Hey, hey, hey. You took it too. You take it off the line, man. You took it too far tonight, man. Don't do it. Don't do it, J.D. don't do it. Oh, yeah, you can do that. That's one of Higgins best impressions. He does a water bottle. Ready? Great impression. Well, switching gears, Amazon just launched a new site dedicated to selling merchandise from hundreds of their shows. Amazon was like, we have merch from all of our hit shows, like Reacher, and we got stuff from Reacher. There's stuff from season two of Reacher, like boots and jeans and stuff. Season three's in production now, so get ready. You guys see this? Nepal is now requiring all climbers to have experience before trying to scale Mount Everest. Apparently, people were just showing up with boots and a clif bar, like, I'm ready. Let's do it. Wanna do it? Go all over the top? I'll do it. Yeah, let's go. Go to the top of it. Hey, I read a new study that more than a third of Americans hate helping someone move, while the rest have clearly never helped someone move. What do you mean. And finally you guys, today is the last day of April. Yeah. So I thought it'd be nice to give a little recap of the entire month. Here we go. Thank you very much. Goodbye, April. Hello May. Tomorrow is a brand new day. We are filled with so much hope. But then Trump says, I'd like to be pumped. He just hit 100 days. Approval rating not so great. Check the numbers, they are shocking. People prefer chicken jockey. Stock market, it took a dive. 401k, wild ride. You might need a backup plan. Say hello to only fans. So much TV to discuss the pit. White Lotus, last of us and this drama. Feeling slammed.
Chase Sui Wonders
But don't worry, I took a lorazepam.
Jimmy Fallon
Master'S jacket, went to Rory. Florida won the final four. Win a trophy. Don't take a chance by handing it to J.D. vance. Oh no, he dropped it. Say goodbye to April's showers and make way for those May flowers. Cause today's the final day when we can say it's gonna be May. We have a great show. Give it up for the Roots, everybody. Uh huh. To the thank you, Roots. What a show. What a show we have. What a crowd we have tonight. Great crowd. Thank you very much. Fantastic. Perfect crowd for this show because we have almost too much talent on the show tonight. Really? This might be the best Tonight show ever.
Vince Vaughn

Jimmy Fallon
Yes, that's right. He is one of my favorites. He's starring in the new movie Nonnas, which begins streaming on Netflix May 9th. Vince Vaughn is in the house. The best. Another great. You could see him in the series the Righteous Gemstones, which airs its series finale this Sunday at 10pm on HBO. And Max, Adam Devine is joining us. Man, he's talented. Sandman. You got it. Our first game is a very talented actor who stars in the new movie Nonas, which begins Streaming on Netflix May 9th. Please welcome Vince. Thanks for coming back on the show.
Vince Vaughn
It's great to be here. I haven't been here since the COVID Yes. You know how people say that? Like no one says, I'm a real estate agent. They always say I do my real estate. Do you know what I mean? No one says, oh, I'm a massage therapist. They, well, I have my massage. I do my massage. So like the COVID They would call like the COVID I don't know why, but instead of saying, hey, remember Covid? They say, well, the COVID Well, you.
Jimmy Fallon
Know, the COVID Yeah. Just add the word the. I don't know.
Vince Vaughn
Do you have relatives, older relatives that say that? And it's like, what, you don't own that? You don't own real estate? You mean your real estate? What's your real estate?
Jimmy Fallon
Right. I do my real estate.
Vince Vaughn
Yeah. I do my real estate. I got my real estate.
Jimmy Fallon
I watch my shows.
Vince Vaughn
Yeah, yeah, my show.
Jimmy Fallon
I was hoping that you would be the same old Vince Vaughn. And yes. Let fame go to your head because you, my friend, have a star in the Hollywood Walk of fame. That's what I'm talking about. That's what I'm talking about. Finally.
Vince Vaughn
Yes.
Jimmy Fallon
Yes. Do you get excited about these things?
Vince Vaughn
I mean. I mean, I guess if you looked at it younger, you would. But it kind of goes on. I mean, you might be like, I was. I know we both spent a lot of time at racetracks as a kid. We had talked about that. Me too. I would tag by the finish line when my dad was gambling. But I always felt like. I always felt like coming from outside of Chicago, like, if I got a commercial, that was unbelievable.
Jimmy Fallon
Yeah.
Vince Vaughn
And if I could call my mom and like, hey, I have a line on Doogie Howser, like, that's a win. So I never had a plan. Did you now? You just kept like, whatever the next step in front of you was, Right?
Jimmy Fallon
I was just excited about getting to that thing. Yeah, exactly. If that. If I got that, that's a win.
Vince Vaughn
That was a win. Every. Everyone felt like a big break. You had to be a big fan of this show when you were a kid. Yeah, I know, I know. It's crazy right now here.
Jimmy Fallon
It doesn't.
Vince Vaughn
Good job. I know. It's amazing.
Jimmy Fallon
It's all wild. I mean, Saturday live, you deserve it.
Vince Vaughn
You do a great job.
Jimmy Fallon
You're a great host. Two story. Appreciate. Thank you.
Vince Vaughn
You have a lot of similarities that Johnny has. Johnny was a great host. Made people feel comfortable. And you do that.
Jimmy Fallon
I love it.
Vince Vaughn
That's a nice quality.
Jimmy Fallon
Also. We have the best crowds.
Vince Vaughn
Very good crowds.
Jimmy Fallon
Unbelievable. I'm taking everyone out for ice cream after this. That's exactly right.
Vince Vaughn
Everything. Everything goes better with a crowd of day drinkers. So than. Thank you for being here.
Jimmy Fallon
When you first. When you first moved to Los Angeles, were you just nailing auditions?
Vince Vaughn
No. Oh, gosh, no. Were you?
Jimmy Fallon
I was.
Vince Vaughn
I was a terrible audition. You know why? Because when I would go out for a job interview younger, you had jobs Younger, too. Yeah, right? Very young. We like bagging groceries as soon as I could. But we were taught to be very polite and shake everyone's hand.
Jimmy Fallon
Sure.
Vince Vaughn
So you would go into an interview and make eye contact. I'm Vince. It's nice to meet you. You know, you were raised to do that, but that's draining in an audition process. They don't have time for that. If there are six producers, they don't all want to shake your hand and have you. You know what I mean, be overly polite. They wanted to be out of that room. I felt probably super desperado to be when they're trying to do that. So I think I was. It took me a while that, like, if you act like you don't care, you have a better chance of getting the job. But I really did care. They could smell it on me, Jimmy. They could smell it on me. They could smell it on me.
Jimmy Fallon
You wanted it too much.
Vince Vaughn
Yeah. Don't you think? Didn't you?
Jimmy Fallon
Oh, I did. I wanted it too much.
Vince Vaughn
They could probably feel it on you. Right. But the kids who didn't really care, you'd be in a waiting room with an actor who, like, didn't know the lines and he couldn't be bothered. Kind of rude to the receptionist. And then, you know, you'd be in your apartment a few months later, and then he'd be the one doing the party.
Jimmy Fallon
He got it.
Vince Vaughn
That guy got it.
Jimmy Fallon
He's so mean to everybody.
Vince Vaughn
He, like, walked out after a cupcake. 100%.
Jimmy Fallon
I did all that stuff.
Vince Vaughn
You had to learn to kind of act like you didn't care a little bit to get it right.
Jimmy Fallon
Yeah, I never really was any of my auditions. I mean, Siren Live was the only one I think I actually did.
Vince Vaughn
Well, you nailed that, obviously.
Jimmy Fallon
That one. I did well. Yeah. Everything else is like, what did you do?
Vince Vaughn
What did you do? What had you done prior to srl?
Jimmy Fallon
My first audition was for Lifeguard number two in the Brady Bunch sequel.
Vince Vaughn
Oh, wow.
Jimmy Fallon
And I had to say, get out of the pool. And I brought. I had. This is when they had fax machines. I had my size faxed. And so I went in with my paper just to get out of the pool. Like, I needed a script.
Vince Vaughn
That's so crazy. Did you practice, like, probably 100 different ways to say, get out of the pool. Get out of the pool.
Jimmy Fallon
Get out of the pool.
Vince Vaughn
Get out of the pool.
Jimmy Fallon
Get out of the pool. Get out.
Vince Vaughn
If you have one line, it's harder.
Jimmy Fallon
It was terrible.
Vince Vaughn
And you drive yourself crazy. You're like a rat in a cage trying to figure out, how do I say, get out of the pool?
Jimmy Fallon
It was the most embarrassing thing in the pool.
Vince Vaughn
Oh, gosh.
Jimmy Fallon
Debbie Liebling.
Vince Vaughn
Oh, my goodness, the casting director's names. That's hilarious.
Jimmy Fallon
Yeah, she was.
Vince Vaughn
Okay, well, thank you.
Jimmy Fallon
Yes.
Vince Vaughn
She said, you might want to take this with you. I know these headshots are expensive. You knew you were. You ever like me, where you were so kind of awkward and insecure that you would say, well, this is a really great script. I know this is going to go well. Like, you tried to make them feel great as they were telling you. No. So weird.
Jimmy Fallon
Well, either way, however you choose.
Vince Vaughn
However, you guys got a pretty special project. Totally.
Jimmy Fallon
It's so crazy, right? I was gonna ask you, did you like that process? Do you like, even getting famous? I remember seeing you on magazine covers and doing all these photo shoots, and I'm like, he's a stud. He's a natural at this stuff. Do you enjoy that stuff or. That's just part of the business.
Vince Vaughn
You don't know what's going on when this first starts to happen. When you're in these. You know, you go to these photo shoots. I wasn't a model, you know, so, like, they're telling you, like, lift a shoulder here. It starts off small, Right. Like, you lift a shoulder. That's cool.
Jimmy Fallon
Check your cup holder.
Vince Vaughn
Can you hold this chainsaw? All right.
Jimmy Fallon
I have a foot.
Vince Vaughn
Oh, yeah, there's one.
Jimmy Fallon
This is from El Mundo magazine.
Vince Vaughn
Yeah.
Jimmy Fallon
And here's you fully clothed with the fedora in the shower.
Vince Vaughn
Yeah. You've been in this situation.
Jimmy Fallon
They love it.
Vince Vaughn
Yeah.
Jimmy Fallon
They want you to bring this back.
Vince Vaughn
No, they want you. Have you been in this situation?
Jimmy Fallon
Let's do one fun one.
Vince Vaughn
Yeah, let's do the one fun one's the one that they use. That's hard to explain.
Jimmy Fallon
That's the one.
Vince Vaughn
But I don't know how it goes from wear a hat that and then put the shower on. It's a super strange process, but these guys are the experts. You don't know, right? You don't know.
Jimmy Fallon
And it lives on.
Vince Vaughn
You have one like that? Do you have one like that?
Jimmy Fallon
All of them. They're just all bad. I just had the word I'd never had, but I was never this good looking.
Vince Vaughn
Yes.
Jimmy Fallon
Come on. Look at this.
Vince Vaughn
You still are.
Jimmy Fallon
Come on, bud. It's hilarious. Oh, by the way, can I even ask this?
Vince Vaughn
We have time.
Jimmy Fallon
How's Al Pacino?
Vince Vaughn
I love Al Pacino.
Jimmy Fallon
You just did a movie I did.
Vince Vaughn
A movie with him. He's terrific. I have to say this. He smells fabulous.
Jimmy Fallon
He does.
Vince Vaughn
He smells like a high end cologne counter in Italy. He has an incredible smell. The whole aroma is unbelievable.
Jimmy Fallon
Really?
Vince Vaughn
Yes. And people would notice this. I mean, many things about him. He's a tremendous guy. Very, very easy to be around. But smells matter. And he smells matter.
Jimmy Fallon
Did you tell him he smelled great?
Vince Vaughn
A lot of people would be around us and tell him that he smelled fantastic.
Jimmy Fallon
He does.
Vince Vaughn
He smells fantastic. And then so the question would come up, which is, you know, what are you. What's the cologne? Cologne, right.
Chase Sui Wonders
Yeah.
Jimmy Fallon
What are you wearing? What's tight lipped?
Vince Vaughn
He'd say, I have to try to remember. He doesn't want to share that secret recipe. He doesn't want to share that fabulous smell.
Jimmy Fallon
He doesn't have to.
Vince Vaughn
Yeah. And then he would. And then he would say, I'm trying to leave a legacy. So he was protecting his smells.
Jimmy Fallon
That's really funny.
Vince Vaughn
But he really smelled incredible.
Jimmy Fallon
He came on with.
Vince Vaughn
Has he been on here with you?
Jimmy Fallon
Yeah.
Vince Vaughn
And how was the smells?
Jimmy Fallon
Unbelievable.
Vince Vaughn
It's unbelievable.
Jimmy Fallon
We haven't changed the seat cushions.
Vince Vaughn
Did you hug him goodbye? You hug him in the middle?
Jimmy Fallon
I took his jacket.
Vince Vaughn
Unbelievable.
Jimmy Fallon
I have it in my dressing. Unbelievable. He's the best. What's the film called?
Vince Vaughn
It's called Easy's Waltz.
Jimmy Fallon
Easy's. Walt, you got to come back for that.
Vince Vaughn
Maybe.
Jimmy Fallon
For sure.
Vince Vaughn
Maybe I'll come with Al.
Jimmy Fallon
That'd be great.
Vince Vaughn
Yeah. And maybe we can have a. A smelling line would be fabulous.
Jimmy Fallon
Yeah. I want to talk about Nona's. By the way, congrats on this movie. Man, oh, man. It is. It's based on a true story. It's real. It's a real restaurant. Yeah. Explain the story if you could.
Vince Vaughn
It's a. It's a real restaurant. In Staten Island, a gentleman named Joe opened up a restaurant and he hired real life Italian grandmothers known as to be the chefs. And it's like a salute to these grandmas who cook their family recipes. And it became very popular locally. Yeah, he's got a cookbook. He's got a cookbook. He later expanded it to Nonnas of the world. So you have Japanese grandmothers, you have Greek grandmothers. And it just became a place for these wonderful matriarchs of their family to go and cook their family recipes. And so it's based on a true story, Hugh.
Jimmy Fallon
Joe Manganiello.
Vince Vaughn
Manganiello's in it. And you got a great Susan Sarandon, Lorraine Bracco, There's a great Susan Lorraine Bracco.
Jimmy Fallon
I mean, you.
Vince Vaughn
Unbelievable. Kalya Shire, who's fascinating. We love her from Rocky and the Godfather, among other things.
Jimmy Fallon
Do you freak out when you're acting with Talia Shire?
Vince Vaughn
I found it so droll to be with. No. These ladies are incredible. Did you. I would like ask him questions like, what was it like on the set in this scene? You know, I'm a fan of all of them.
Jimmy Fallon
You're like, hi, Adrian. I mean, sorry.
Vince Vaughn
I'm sorry.
Jimmy Fallon
How are you? I mean, great. Heavy hitters in it. It's super funny. It's super charming. The whole family can watch this.
Vince Vaughn
Yeah. It's fun. It's good. And the director, Stephen Chboskiu did wonder. It's got a really nice tone to it. So it was fun.
Jimmy Fallon
Vince Vaughn, everybody. Nona's begins streaming on Netflix May 9th. We'll be right back with more Tonight Show. Stick around. The best.
Vince Vaughn
Good to see you, brother.
Jimmy Fallon
I love Xenia. Our next guest is a very talented actor starring in the series the Righteous Gemstones, which airs its series finale this Sunday at 10 on HBO. And Max, please welcome Adam Devine. That's my man. Thank you for doing that. Adam Devine, your stud. Welcome back to the show.
Adam Devine
Adam's stud, aren't I?
Vince Vaughn
Yeah.
Adam Devine
I realize I'm wearing the exact same thing Vince Vaughn was wearing. Like, I'm wearing the identical look.
Jimmy Fallon
Wow, that's interesting.
Adam Devine
This guy's my fashion guycon. Apparently. What's up, Vince? I see you, little fashion boy.
Jimmy Fallon
Oh my gosh. That's your guy con there.
Adam Devine
Yeah, he's my guycon.
Jimmy Fallon
He is. He is a stud. But so are you. I'm so happy you're here. We have a lot to get into. But first of all, congratulations. You just became a new. You're a dad.
Adam Devine
I'm a dad.
Jimmy Fallon
Yeah. Hey, come on, bud. Yes. Woo. I'm happy.
Adam Devine
Thanks, man.
Jimmy Fallon
I love it when cool people have babies.
Adam Devine
It's the best. I truly. I love it more than I thought I was gonna like it.
Jimmy Fallon
Yeah, you do, right?
Adam Devine
I do.
Jimmy Fallon
I think.
Adam Devine
I thought, you know, it turns out it is a lot, though.
Jimmy Fallon
Yeah.
Adam Devine
I kind of thought it was gonna be chill. Like he'd just sort of chill on the couch next to you. But this little guy is knee dee. You have to feed him all the time.
Jimmy Fallon
Yes. He's a baby. Yeah.
Adam Devine
Yeah. And then he cries and you have to be like, what's your deal?
Jimmy Fallon
What's your deal? I have a photo. You brought a photo of him? Here he is. Look at this cute kid. Are you joking? What's up, Cool boy? He owns a yacht.
Adam Devine
Yeah.
Jimmy Fallon
Amazing. Wow. He's unbelievable. He's in the yachting world. Yeah.
Adam Devine
He owns everything I own. And that's very generous to call that a yacht. Let me see the back of it.
Jimmy Fallon
What is his name?
Adam Devine
His name is Beau. He's 14 months. Yeah. He's got that energy. I love that. It's fun. It's fun.
Jimmy Fallon
Does he have a favorite TV show yet?
Adam Devine
He. We try not to let him watch too much tv. If it was up to me, my wife walked in on me watching the Menendez Brothers show.
Jimmy Fallon
Babies love that.
Vince Vaughn
Yeah.
Adam Devine
It was like, right? They get blown up by shotguns, and I'm like, he's too young to remember this. Right? Don't do that to Daddy.
Jimmy Fallon
Oh, that's so funny.
Adam Devine
But he loves Elmo as his jam. Yeah.
Jimmy Fallon
The greatest. Yeah.
Adam Devine
And I didn't realize I could do a pretty decent Elmo until I had him. Cause he doesn't like to listen to me or do the things that I would like for him to do.
Jimmy Fallon
Yeah.
Adam Devine
I'm like, don't eat that. That's Clorox.
Jimmy Fallon
Yeah, good.
Adam Devine
Like, definitely don't eat that. So now I'll go, hi, Bo. It's me, Elmo.
Jimmy Fallon
Amazing. That's kind of amazing.
Adam Devine
I've taken over control of your daddy's body. Elmo's your daddy now, and he's cool. I don't know if I like that guy that much.
Jimmy Fallon
I don't know what's going on.
Adam Devine
He's always telling me to not lick shoes.
Jimmy Fallon
Have you met Elmo yet?
Adam Devine
Can you hook that up?
Jimmy Fallon
No, he's not here. No, no, no. Oh, my God. No. No, he's not here. But I know Elmo. He's the cutest.
Vince Vaughn
Really?
Jimmy Fallon
He's the nicest on Sesame Street. You gotta.
Adam Devine
I would love to meet him and.
Jimmy Fallon
Do an impression in front for Elmo and teach him what an impression is.
Adam Devine
He just smacks me.
Jimmy Fallon
No, he loves it.
Adam Devine
He takes off the head. He's like, that's my.
Vince Vaughn
Oh, my God.
Adam Devine
Don't you come for my job?
Jimmy Fallon
Oh, my God. Oh, my God.
Adam Devine
We'll bleep that.
Jimmy Fallon
Yes, exactly.
Adam Devine
Yeah.
Jimmy Fallon
Thank you.
Adam Devine
My bad.
Jimmy Fallon
We won't bleep that. Isn't it kind of fun having a baby, though, where you could use the baby as an excuse to get out of things?
Adam Devine
It's my favorite. I love it. I love just being like, oh, no, it's your new girlfriend's birthday. I Would have loved to have gone to that. Oh, that sucks. But I got this baby now and a wife, and I'm an adult now.
Jimmy Fallon
I don't do that.
Adam Devine
I have to not go to things I don't want to.
Jimmy Fallon
Now in that condescending voice, let's talk about righteous Gemstones while you're here because the series wraps up this Sunday. I can't believe it's over. I.
Adam Devine
It's wild.
Jimmy Fallon
It is so funny. Thank you. You're crushing on it, bud. You're so funny. The cast is great. The writing's great.
Adam Devine
Thank you.
Jimmy Fallon
Danny McBride. Man, oh, man, he's funny.
Adam Devine
He is a legend. Yes.
Jimmy Fallon
Oh, it's great. How do we set up?
Vince Vaughn
What.
Jimmy Fallon
What is the rightest gemstones about out.
Adam Devine
So we run. We are a family that runs a mega church in the south and we have so much money and are we corrupt? Possibly. And it's. It's so fun. It's been a blast doing it. My character Kelvin, he was a closeted gay man who finally has come out this season. And it's so fun. You know, I've had friends and family that have come out and you see like that weight be lifted off their back and they can finally be themselves. And it was cool to play that this season.
Jimmy Fallon
This is a great season, by the way. I mean, I've watched every season. This is a phenomenal season, thank God.
Adam Devine
I think so too.
Jimmy Fallon
And I know what you're probably gonna say, but does the ending? Will fans appreciate the ending, do you know? Yeah. No, it's. Imagine if you're like, the season goes.
Adam Devine
Off with a bang and that's all I'll say.
Vince Vaughn
Oh, wow.
Jimmy Fallon
That was juicy. You're gonn have to tune in. Adam Divine, everybody. The series finale of the Righteous Gemstones airs this Sunday at 10pm on HBO and Max. More tonight. Joe, after the break. Stick around. Calling Captain Brock started at the bottom. Now I'm only at the top. I'm hardy vented time. I know I'm only at the top. I figured I should probably show him soon, but I got so sun dirty skirted off the lot. It's darker than the kettle and it's blacker than a pot. I'm all day. Our next guest is a talented actress who stars in the Apple TV series the studio. New episodes air Wednesdays. Everyone, please welcome Chase Swee Wonders. Chase. Wow. Chase, welcome to the Tonight Show. I'm so happy you're here.
Chase Sui Wonders
God, what an honor.
Jimmy Fallon
Oh, for me. For me, technically, though, we've.
Chase Sui Wonders
I have perceived you. You have never perceived me.
Jimmy Fallon
Oh, that's interesting.
Chase Sui Wonders
Yes.
Jimmy Fallon
All right. You've perceived me.
Chase Sui Wonders
I've perceived you.
Jimmy Fallon
Where did you perceive me?
Chase Sui Wonders
So this all happened at a university in Cambridge, Massachusetts. A little university called Harvard.
Jimmy Fallon
Oh, yes, Harvard.
Chase Sui Wonders
Harvard school.
Jimmy Fallon
Harvard. Yeah.
Chase Sui Wonders
Yes, you. There was a parade in your honor. The Harvard Lampoon was launching a parade in your honor. And I, a bushy, bright, Bright eyed freshman.
Jimmy Fallon
No way.
Chase Sui Wonders
18 year old me, saw. I was like, what is Jimmy Fallon doing hanging out with a bunch of nerds? You had a flower crown on your head. They were like. They were chanting your name. And I was like, I must get into that institution where they party with Jimmy Fallon. So I tried as I might to get into.
Jimmy Fallon
To get into the Harvard Lampoon.
Chase Sui Wonders
To get into the Harvard Lampoon. And it was a, you know, it was a hard, uphill battle, but I would write every night these funny pieces. And one night I almost got thwarted by. I got mugged at knifepoint.
Vince Vaughn
What?
Chase Sui Wonders
Mugged at knifepoint. The perpetrator was concealing a weapon.
Jimmy Fallon
What?
Chase Sui Wonders
Yes. And I have in my laptop, I have all my Lampoon pieces that I've spent. I have all your jokes. All the precious jewels.
Jimmy Fallon
Yes.
Chase Sui Wonders
And he's like, give me your backpack. I was like, I can't give you my backpack. It was a bit of a lapse in judgment. I bolted.
Jimmy Fallon
You negotiated with the money.
Chase Sui Wonders
I negotiated. I said eye to eye. Let's play a little Russian roulette.
Jimmy Fallon
Yeah. You go, I cannot give you my eyes.
Chase Sui Wonders
I cannot give you that. There is some intrinsic value here and it has to do with Jimmy Fallon. It's a long story. I have to go. I have to go. So I start running. He's much taller than me. I have little legs. It was a bad, bad decision by some act of God. I see one of those emergency lights with the blue light where you press 911 and the cops are called.
Jimmy Fallon
Yes.
Chase Sui Wonders
And so I go, I'm gonna press it. I'm gonna press it unless you stop chasing me. And he goes, okay, okay, okay, I'll stop.
Jimmy Fallon
I'll stop.
Chase Sui Wonders
I outsmarted the perp, got into the Lampoon, ran off into the sunset. Now I'm here with you.
Jimmy Fallon
Yeah. That's what I'm talking about. That's how you do it. That is how you do it. I'm so happy you're here. And man, oh, man, are you crushing it on the studio.
Chase Sui Wonders
Thank you.
Jimmy Fallon
You are fantastic. In the show yesterday, you were just nominated for a Gotham Award for outstanding Supporting. Big deal. Congratulations.
Chase Sui Wonders
I don't know what's happening.
Jimmy Fallon
Congratulations.
Chase Sui Wonders
Thank you.
Jimmy Fallon
It's created by Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg.
Chase Sui Wonders
Yes.
Jimmy Fallon
And did you know them before this?
Chase Sui Wonders
No. I had no idea. I was going in totally blind. Really hopped on a zoom for my callback session. And Seth and Evan are just there. There's all these floating heads in the zoom session, and I'm, like, shaking in my boots. Just adrenaline coursing through my veins. And Seth, we're doing a scene together. Seth is cosplaying as Anthony Mackie, and he's like, toss out the script. Let's just riff. I'm, like, freaking out. He won't stop riffing. I'm in the riff zone with Seth rogen for, like, 10 minutes long.
Jimmy Fallon
Oh, he's unbelievable.
Chase Sui Wonders
He's unbelievable. He just won't stop. And I had no idea if I like how I did, but I was like. So he lit up a joint. He goes, that was great. And I was like, either he's letting him adjoin cause I crushed or he's letting him a joint cause it was horrible.
Jimmy Fallon
Yeah. Cause you crushed, man. Oh, man. I mean, you're so good. I gotta say. The burrito episode, man, oh, man, you crushed it so hard. And what a great cast. Who? Ike Barinholtz?
Chase Sui Wonders
Ike is a legend.
Jimmy Fallon
Oh, my gosh. He's so funny.
Chase Sui Wonders
Legend and a hat.
Jimmy Fallon
Kathryn Hahn.
Chase Sui Wonders
Oh, my God. The coolest woman in the world.
Jimmy Fallon
Catherine O'Hara.
Chase Sui Wonders
Oh, my God. They don't make them like that.
Jimmy Fallon
Chase sweet wonders. I mean, there you go. That's what I'm talking about. You're on that list. What a great cast. It's the funniest show.
Chase Sui Wonders
Yeah.
Jimmy Fallon
I mean, on all the cameos on the show, do you freak out?
Chase Sui Wonders
Oh, yeah.
Jimmy Fallon
Who freaked you out the most?
Chase Sui Wonders
I mean, I would be remiss if I didn't say Mr. Scorsese.
Jimmy Fallon
Yeah, Martin Scorsese. I mean, come on.
Chase Sui Wonders
So I wasn't even working that day. He's hilarious. He's hilarious. I wasn't working that day, and I made it my mission. I was, like, pretending I had stuff to do, like, carrying around sides, like, oh, hair and makeup tests. Oh, I'm just here. I'm actually one of the actors. I'm not in the scene. You know, I'm around. I have a very involved process.
Jimmy Fallon
He knows that too. He knows everything all day. He's like, yeah, of course. You want to meet me?
Chase Sui Wonders
No, of course. He goes for the handshake first. That's what I like about him is. Cause he has the glint in his eye. He knows everyone's got one eye on him. So he went in for the handshake first.
Jimmy Fallon
Yeah, he did.
Chase Sui Wonders
That's a real goat.
Jimmy Fallon
He's a classy dude.
Chase Sui Wonders
He's a classy guy.
Jimmy Fallon
Man. He was funny.
Chase Sui Wonders
So funny.
Jimmy Fallon
Not afraid to make fun of himself.
Chase Sui Wonders
So not afraid. Just such a humble guy willing to just mess around.
Jimmy Fallon
Yeah.
Chase Sui Wonders
And he was also critiquing Seth and Evan on their directing style. He's like, you use way too many expletives on this show. That's like, we learned it from you.
Jimmy Fallon
Good for him. Yeah, we learned it from you, dude. Yeah. How do we set up the studio?
Chase Sui Wonders
It's just that it's like both a tear down of Hollywood but also just a supreme love letter.
Jimmy Fallon
It's such a love letter.
Chase Sui Wonders
Yeah.
Jimmy Fallon
It makes me love the business that we're in.
Chase Sui Wonders
Exactly. And you can tell like Seth and Evan are deep cinephiles. They know about every movie that's ever been made.
Jimmy Fallon
Yeah. And he becomes the. He runs the studio. He becomes the studio head.
Chase Sui Wonders
Yes.
Jimmy Fallon
And so it's this guy kind of geeking out because he's nervous. He's the rookie and.
Chase Sui Wonders
Exactly.
Jimmy Fallon
And everything that you think could go wrong goes wrong.
Chase Sui Wonders
Yes.
Jimmy Fallon
And it's the funniest. It's just amazing. By the way, the second. Yes. The second episode was that all one take?
Chase Sui Wonders
All in one take. So impressive.
Jimmy Fallon
One take, the camera's running and then they just. Are they passing it to other cameras.
Chase Sui Wonders
Shout out to our camera op mark, 265 pound bullet, Australian man made of like just meat. He's getting up at 4am every morning, getting in a two hour workout so he can hold that camera. And when you're panning between like me and I, Ike's like 6, 4. So he's like tippy toes, squat and he's profusely sweating by the end of the take. And he's like also emotionally invested in all of our characters. He has no one to pant, so he's like, I reckon like Sally and Queen have a little bit of romance going on. And I was like, what Mark did? Have you read that? Like, is that in one of the scripts? Did I miss something? He's like, no, no, no. I just reckon there's something going on. Doing a little fan fiction on the side. I reckon, I reckon.
Jimmy Fallon
Do you get nervous that you're gonna mess up a line and then screw up the whole episode?
Chase Sui Wonders
Oh, always, always. Especially working with all these legends or seasoned vets. Like it was. And I was like, we started out like, so hardcore. The first shot, day one, scene one, is Ike and I like spitting each other's face. It was like, nice to meet you, Seth, Evan, Ike. And then I was like, are they testing me? Like, this is the only thing we're filming that day. And Seth later was like, yeah, we were testing you. You were the wild card.
Jimmy Fallon
We didn't know of your more than hold your own. You're unbelievable, man. You're a superstar. Congrats on this chase. Sweet wonders, everybody. New episodes of the studio stream Wednesdays on Apple tv. Stick around. I asked you to go high. You tell me to go low, so I go low. Wait for it. I'mma do it again. I like it.
