That's great. Appreciate it. Thank you very much. Enjoy. Enjoy yourself, everybody.
Welcome, welcome. Welcome to the Tonight Show. Welcome to the show. Let's get to some news. Well, guys, today was the second day of the government shutdown, and lawmakers in Congress are saying they have no idea when it will end. Yeah, no one has any idea how long it will last. People are calling it the Grey's Anatomy of Government Shutdown. When will it. When will this still. Still? If this does last a while, I think they should at least make it fun for the rest of us, right? I mean, how about for each day of the shutdown, they release one name from the Epstein list?
Come on, just one name. One name. Why not keep it fun for us?
How about if the shutdown lasts a week, President Trump and J.D. vance have to switch makeup just for one.
Come on, come on, make it fun.
Right now, the government has no funding and no clear path forward. We've basically become the United Red Lobster of America. It's like, are we open? Are we open? Are we not? We don't know. That's right. It's day two of the government shutdown, and Trump still hasn't met with the Democrats to try and reach a deal. In fact, he uses a special excuse generator to come up with reasons why he can't talk to them. It actually works. I'll show you how it works. Watch this. When people ask, why didn't you meet with the Democrats about the shutdown? It tells Trump to say, I would meet, but unfortunately, I'm stuck on an escalator. It's a good excuse.
It happened. Oh, no.
Mark Ruffalo
Stairs.
Jimmy Fallon
They tried another excuse. He says, I'm busy making sure the Oval Office looks like a Ferrero Rocher. It's beautiful.
Gold, gold everywhere.
Let's try another one. I have to deal with a much bigger threat. Bad Bunny's halftime show. Oh, I've got to. Here. Here's another one. He said, I'm already brokering a deal between Team Conrad and Team Jerem. And finally, Trump said I'd be there, but tomorrow it's Tay Tay all day day. While switching gears, Amazon is launching their own grocery line. With Most items under $5, they're just like regular groceries. Except now a dozen eggs are called a dozen eggsos. They got ears. Yeah. Get this. In a new video, the head of Instagram said, I swear we do not listen to your microphones. I want to believe them, but I just asked someone if Instagram is listening to me, and that video popped up. Apparently, Instagram doesn't listen to people through their microphones. Meanwhile, Apple and Amazon are like, just keep your head down. Don't make eye contact. Don't make eye contact. They're not looking at you. Meanwhile, Instagram and Facebook said that they're going to start showing people ads based on conversations they've had with Meta's AI Chatbot. Basically, it'll remember what you talk about most and then use that to show specific ads. Like, for instance, I use the chatbot to talk about exercise. That means I start seeing an ad for Peloton. So, yeah, I think it's pretty incredible technology. Isn't that cool, Higgins? Yeah, it is. Yeah, for me. I'm always talking to the chatbot about things like donating to charities.
Oh.
Like volunteering opportunities. Oh, that's nice. Pottery classes. Pottery class. That's interesting. What else? Oh, gardening tips. Yeah, I know you love the garden. Yeah. Oh, and crossword puzzle hints. Yeah. Good.
Really amazing technology.
Mark Ruffalo
He left.
Jimmy Fallon
He left. Speaking of technology, I saw that Sesame street is partnering with Google to teach kids on how to have a healthy relationship with technology.
Ooh.
Yeah. Parents were like. Did you say something? I was looking at. I was looking at TikTok. Sorry. Listen to this. Apparently, a growing number of people are trying to unplug by swapping their smartphones for dumb phones. And I saw an ad for one. It looks pretty cool. Check this out.
Mark Ruffalo
Are you tired of your smartphone taking over your life?
Jimmy Fallon
Yes.
Mark Ruffalo
Try a dumb phone. A dumb phone?
Addison Rae
What the heck is this?
Mark Ruffalo
It's just like your smartphone, but way dumber. What about TikTok? Doesn't work.
Addison Rae
Texting?
Mark Ruffalo
Nope. Can I still talk to Siri? If you need voice assistance, ask Dumbphone's voice bot. Storky.
Addison Rae
Hey, Storky, what's the weather?
Jimmy Fallon
Um, I don't know.
Mark Ruffalo
Storky, set a timer for 15 minutes.
Jimmy Fallon
Um, okay.
Mark Ruffalo
Storky, that was like a second.
Jimmy Fallon
Um, my bad.
Addison Rae
He's so dumb.
Mark Ruffalo
Don't forget dumb maps.
Jimmy Fallon
Um, turn left, I guess.
Mark Ruffalo
This thing is already dead.
Jimmy Fallon
All good.
Mark Ruffalo
Just pop three quadruple A batteries in and wait a day or two.
Addison Rae
Do those come with it?
Jimmy Fallon
Nope.
Mark Ruffalo
It's so dumb.
Jimmy Fallon
Yup.
I love it.
Mark Ruffalo
Get your dumb phone today.
Jimmy Fallon
Um. Bye. Yeah, pretty good.
I'd buy one of those.
Storky.
Hey, I read that for the first time ever, retail workers at Lego at a LEGO store in the US Are trying to unionize.
Ooh.
The company might have a problem. Cause we all know with Lego, once they stick together, they're almost impossible to pull them apart. Especially those little ones. Tiny ones. Honey, get the steak knife. You know you've done it. LEGO workers are like, you guys should know you can't walk all over us.
It hurt.
It hurts your feet. I heard that. This weekend, Taco Bell announced that they're hosting an ultra marathon where participants have to run 31 miles while eating Taco Bell. It's gonna be super competitive because that's one race where you don't want to be behind someone.
Jump, jump, Dodge, dodge.
Got the runs at the border. Well, guys, with all that's going on in the world, a lot of folks are looking for healthy ways to feel good and keep their minds in a positive place. So here with more is mental health expert Dr. Will Brainard. Welcome, Dr. Brainerd.
You know, thank you.
Dr. Will Brainard
You know, you can just call me Will. Jimmy. You know, as a therapist, I love sharing tips for keeping your head in a good place. Ever gone leaf peeping in a chunky sweater?
Jimmy Fallon
Maybe. Is that what you recommend? Oh, yes.
Dr. Will Brainard
Among other things, I've put all my feel better tips in a song.
Jimmy Fallon
That's fantastic. Let's hear it.
Dr. Will Brainard
You don't have to ask me twice. Anytime that you want to feel better, go. Leaf peeping in a chunky sweater. If a woman breaks your heart and you want to forget at her.
Jimmy Fallon
No.
Dr. Will Brainard
Leaf peeping in a chunky sweater. Chunky sweater. Don't you feel better?
Jimmy Fallon
Yeah, I do, actually. That's great. Yeah. Hey, you know what?
I got plenty.
Dr. Will Brainard
I got plenty more tips.
Jimmy Fallon
Good. Let's hear them. You got it, pal. Okay.
Dr. Will Brainard
Grab your kitty cat and your Irish setter.
Jimmy Fallon
Go.
Dr. Will Brainard
Leaf peeping in a chunky sweater. If there's ink on your hands. Cause you're a typesetter and you steal my girl. Cause I'm a bed wetter.
Jimmy Fallon
Hey, Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa. Sorry. What's going on over there?
Dr. Will Brainard
What's going on?
Jimmy Fallon
What happened to you, bud? No, no, no, man.
Dr. Will Brainard
This song's not about me, man. I'm just giving out some general tips. You know, if the girl you love leaves a breakup letter that says she thinks she's found somebody better.
Jimmy Fallon
And if.
Dr. Will Brainard
She ever runs off with that guy, just because he works in an artisanal cheese shop that's also a print shop for some reason. Why don't you decide what to sell, J? And he's tall and he's ripped and he runs the big old timey printing press with no shirt on. And his abs are covered with ink and sweat. And he's all like, look at me, I'm sexy J. With my spicy Gouda and my Gutenberg. And yes, if. Sometimes, if you pee the bed, but only because you're a very deep sleeper, if that ever happens to you, then.
Jimmy Fallon
You'Ll know how important it is. Jimmy. You will know how important it is.
Dr. Will Brainard
To drive upstate and go and sing it with me.
Jimmy Fallon
Leaf peeping in a chunky sweater Everybody. Leaf peeping in a chunky sweater Everybody. Leaf peeping in a chunky sweater One more time. Leaf peeping in a chunky Sweater thank you, Dr. Will. Everybody, Dr. Will. Thank you.
Mark Ruffalo
Thank you, Dr. Will.
Jimmy Fallon
I'm lonely.
Thank you, doctor. And finally, did you guys hear about this? Last night at LaGuardia Airport, two Delta planes slammed into each other on the Runway. Oh, yep. Or as it's known on Spirit Airlines, brakes.
We have a great show. Give it up for the roost, ladies and gentlemen. Welcome to the show, everybody.
Guys, I want to thank you for watching my show on Brand. It was on Tuesday. It airs tomorrow night at 8 o' clock as well. And it's also on Peacock, but on the show, it's a competition show, a business competition show where people try to get the next marketing campaign for a big brand or something like that. So on Tuesday, it was Dunkin and this contestant, one of the creators on the show, Ryan, came up with this idea. He won. Not to spoil, but he won. And he made these. Look at the Dunkin power pail. So it's like their $6 meal deal, right? And it looks like a little like a lunchbox. But it also comes as the. This is the class pack here. This is the. This is the commuter. Look how cute that looks.
Aww. Hey.
And then look at. This is the care box. Come on. Anyways, it came out like the day. It comes out after the show. So it came out Wednesday. Sold out. Whoa. In the store I was.
Sorry.
In the store I was in. Oh, okay. After I bought these four. But it's a big hit. But I just love that we're doing the show. I'm interested in all this type of stuff. But the fact that we created or we watched the guy create this in real time, and it might be like the Next Happy Meal or whatever for Duncan. And it's just a cool deal. So anyways, thanks to everyone at Duncan. Thanks to everybody for watching. It is a hit.
It's a big hit.
It's kind of cool. New episode airs tomorrow. Brand new episode tomorrow at 8. And then also, if you want to binge, go to Peacock Man. Go to the pee. Yeah, look at that. Double, double whammy.
Ding dong ding, spin.
Oh, magic. But first, what a show we have for you tonight. He is a talented, talented actor. Man, I love him. He stars in the HBO series Task. It's fantastic. New episodes premiere every Sunday. Mark Ruffalo is here tonight. He's great in this.

We'll be talking tight, dad. I know.
We will be talking to her about her new album. We have a lot of fun stuff planned. You don't want to miss that Monday night. Taylor Swift.

I like that.
Mark Ruffalo
Beautiful Ruffalo soldier. Love you, my Philly brothers.
Jimmy Fallon
Yeah. Ruffalo soldier.
I got it.
Mark Ruffalo
Red Rock roster.
Jimmy Fallon
Oh, I love that one. You've been on the show so many times and I don't know if I tell you enough how much I respect you and I love you as an actor and I was doing a little research.
Mark Ruffalo
How about as a person?
Jimmy Fallon
We're getting there. We're getting there.
Mark Ruffalo
I'm waiting.
Jimmy Fallon
Of course as a person. But I was doing some research on you and I saw that you studied that the Stella Adler concept Conservatory.
Mark Ruffalo
That's right.
Jimmy Fallon
Stella Adler. I remember buying those books. That's real.
Mark Ruffalo
She was the greatest.
Jimmy Fallon
What was she like?
Mark Ruffalo
She was Brando's teacher. Was it high pressure she would say to you, you're an actor, darling. You're an aristocracy. You have a responsibility to people, to the truth. Be fearless, darling.
Jimmy Fallon
Wow.
Tell the truth. Yes. Wow. I needed that. That's aw.
Mark Ruffalo
Actor needs to Hear that right now.
Jimmy Fallon
They do.
Be fearless, darling. Tell the truth. Tell the truth, darling. Right.
Yes. Do you remember anyone in your.
Mark Ruffalo
I love you, man.
Jimmy Fallon
I love you. But do you remember anyone in your classes? Did they became famous or anything?
Mark Ruffalo
As a matter of fact, I was in class with. Tell me, you might have heard of him. Benicio Del Toro. Whoa.
Jimmy Fallon
That's a heavy hitter.
Mark Ruffalo
We started acting class together.
Jimmy Fallon
We were our.
Mark Ruffalo
Our first class was.
Jimmy Fallon
What was he like?
Mark Ruffalo
He was the coolest dude. He was the Puerto Rican James Dean.
Jimmy Fallon
Yeah.
Mark Ruffalo
He had his cigarette pack rolled up. His little St. Christopher medal. His white T shirt, white tee, cool distressed jeans.
Jimmy Fallon
Just a stud.
Mark Ruffalo
The most beautiful.
Jimmy Fallon
Yeah. You hated him. Yeah. He jealous. This guy's jealous. He's got jealous. He's got everything.
Mark Ruffalo
He had it all.
Jimmy Fallon
And what. How would he. And of course, he acts.
Mark Ruffalo
Well, our first. Our first. I'll never forget our first assignment was we had to take the lyrics of a song and then say them to somebody, act them out like. Like in a serious way.
Jimmy Fallon
What song did he do?
Mark Ruffalo
He did Come On, Baby, Light My Fire. And it was literally like.
Jimmy Fallon
Come on.
Mark Ruffalo
Baby, light my fire.
Jimmy Fallon
Wow.
Mark Ruffalo
That guy is a star.
Jimmy Fallon
Yeah. I don't even.
Mark Ruffalo
I don't even know what I'm doing here.
Jimmy Fallon
And what song. What song did you do?
Mark Ruffalo
Happy birthday to you Happy birthday to you.
Jimmy Fallon
That'S so funny. Did you really.
Oh, my gosh. That's so good. I think it's a good choice.
Mark Ruffalo
It's so bad.
Jimmy Fallon
It's a great choice. There's not many lyrics to that either. Oh, my God. That's more of a challenge. Good for you.
Mark Ruffalo
He crushed it.
Jimmy Fallon
I think you love a good challenge. By the way, I still love you from 13. Going on 30.
I gotta.
I gotta show this because it's my fave. It's a great. It holds up. It holds up.
Mark Ruffalo
You guys remember Thriller?
Jimmy Fallon
Yeah. You did the Thriller dance? Yeah.
Mark Ruffalo
We didn't want to do that.
Jimmy Fallon
You didn't. You wanted to do Happy Birthday? Yeah.
Mark Ruffalo
It would have been easier.
Jimmy Fallon
Didn't want to do this.
Mark Ruffalo
No. I almost, like, quit because I realized that I had to learn the Thriller dance. And I was so scared.
Jimmy Fallon
Really?
Mark Ruffalo
Yeah. So when she dragged me out there, she was literally dragging me out there. Like, that was not acting at all.
Jimmy Fallon
No.
Mark Ruffalo
And yeah, she. I was like, I don't think I could do. We had dance class together.
Jimmy Fallon
Yeah. Jennifer Garner is un.
Mark Ruffalo
She's unbelievable.
Jimmy Fallon
Yeah.
Mark Ruffalo
There's nothing she can't do.
Jimmy Fallon
I agree.
Mark Ruffalo
And literally, she learned the dance and, like, 30 minutes and it was. I was there for six hours.
Jimmy Fallon
But it turned out great. It.
Mark Ruffalo
It was okay.
Jimmy Fallon
That was fantastic.
Mark Ruffalo
It's not that great.
Jimmy Fallon
We love it. We love it.
We. Fantastic. Yes.
They love it.
They have.
They love it.
They don't have to.
Mark Ruffalo
There's an applause sign.
Jimmy Fallon
No, we don't.
We're not pressing the applause on.
Mark Ruffalo
I promise.
Jimmy Fallon
We're not. We're not. They're real.
Mark Ruffalo
They're real.
Jimmy Fallon
They're real. Yeah. I want you to dance in more movies.
Mark Ruffalo
I danced in Poor Things.
Jimmy Fallon
Oh, yeah, you did.
Mark Ruffalo
I had a great dance number.
Jimmy Fallon
That's what you were great in Poor Things. You did dance in Poor Things.
Mark Ruffalo
I danced like a fiend.
Jimmy Fallon
Dude, this. I think you're gonna get a fan.
Mark Ruffalo
I'm in a movie now unless I could dance.
Jimmy Fallon
Now you're a song and dancer.
Mark Ruffalo
I dance and Task.
Jimmy Fallon
No, don't. No spoilers. Dude, it's so good. By the way, Task is the show you want. If you're looking for a show to.
Want, it's a great show. If you were looking for a new.
Show to jump into.
Mark Ruffalo
Have you seen it?
Jimmy Fallon
Have you seen Task?
Dude, it's on hbo.
It's on hbo. It's the same creator of mayor of Easttown.
Mark Ruffalo
That's right.
Jimmy Fallon
If you like mayor of East.
Mark Ruffalo
Brad Inglesby. Tom Pelfrey.
Jimmy Fallon
Tom Pelfrey. No, I can't.
Mark Ruffalo
He's incredible.
Jimmy Fallon
That guy doesn't miss, dude.
Mark Ruffalo
He doesn't miss.
Jimmy Fallon
He's unbelievable.
Mark Ruffalo
He crushes it.
Jimmy Fallon
It's frightening. I loved him in Ozark where he won every award and he should have.
Mark Ruffalo
That's right.
Jimmy Fallon
And then this thing.
Mark Ruffalo
He's gonna win every award here.
Jimmy Fallon
Yeah. And so.
Mark Ruffalo
And Martha Plimpton.
Jimmy Fallon
I love Martha Plimpton.
Mark Ruffalo
She's so great.
Jimmy Fallon
And you guys together.
Mark Ruffalo
Thing with her.
Jimmy Fallon
You guys together. But also, that's a show.
Mark Ruffalo
It's got a pulse, but it's also got a strong heart driving it. It's really good.
Jimmy Fallon
It's good. It's scary. It's a thriller, and you really go for it in this character. Look at this. Did you pack the pounds on there? You really went for it.
Look at that.
Mark Ruffalo
That's Philly, man.
Jimmy Fallon
Look at that. Is that right? That's all cheesesteak. That's all cheesesteak.
Mark Ruffalo
My wife saw me and she said, well.
Jimmy Fallon
There you go.
Mark Ruffalo
Your father's really eating his way through Philly, isn't he?
Jimmy Fallon
What did he eat? Where did you want to give a.
Mark Ruffalo
Shout out to any, you know, middle child Angelos?
Jimmy Fallon
All right. Angelo. Angelo's is good, too. We love Philly. That's.
Mark Ruffalo
Everything's good in Philly.
Jimmy Fallon
You do something in the show. Well, we should set up who you are. You're FBI, but you're also. You're a priest as well. And then you're an alcoholic. Yeah, that's it, right?
Mark Ruffalo
I mean, it fits, right?
Jimmy Fallon
Be true.
Tell the truth, darling. Tell the. Tell the truth, darling. Be brave. Brave. Be brave, darling.
Well, you do something in the episode. You stick your head in a bowl of ice. Of ice.
Mark Ruffalo
The alcoholic. You know, you all know it's great to put your head in a bucket of ice when you're hungover.
Jimmy Fallon
Yes. So that's what you do, and it wakes you up. But you did.
Mark Ruffalo
But I'm more sober now than when I came into this place.
Jimmy Fallon
I was gonna say, are you. You're my best friend.
No.
No. But you do that in the scene. I was like, oh, that's real ice. Because I know you. You wouldn't do it.
Mark Ruffalo
My friend said to me, don't you be one of those little Hollywood actors.
Jimmy Fallon
No, no, no.
Mark Ruffalo
You're not putting your head in the ice in a bucket of warm water with fake ice, are you?
Jimmy Fallon
No, no, you got.
Mark Ruffalo
I was like, no way. Never.
Jimmy Fallon
Yeah.
Mark Ruffalo
I would never do that.
Jimmy Fallon
Yeah. That's why I brought out a. That's. That's a bummer. It's only.
Okay. Yeah.
Okay.
Come on.
Mark Ruffalo
Hey, is this like an ice off?
Jimmy Fallon
It's an ice off, yeah. Hey, before. Before we do this. Before we do this, can you say why you weren't in the Avengers trailer? Every time you're on the show, you give spoiler, you get in trouble.
Mark Ruffalo
They decided that it was better to get rid of me than for me to tell the end of the next movie.
Jimmy Fallon
All right, that makes sense.
Mark Ruffalo
Are we doing this?
Jimmy Fallon
I think we have. Should we do this?
All right, how. How. How long. How long can you go?
How long you want to do it? How long? I don't know. What gotten you? 10, 5 seconds. 10 sec. 10 seconds.
Mark Ruffalo
10 seconds.
Jimmy Fallon
Very bad. 1, 2, 3.
It's.
That felt like it was 30.
I got a half an hour.
Half an hour. I thought I died.
Mark R, everybody. New episodes of Task premiere Sundays on hbo, also streaming on hbo. Max. Addison Rae joins us after the break. Stick around, everybody.
Our next guest recently released her debut album, Addison, which has already been streamed over one billion times. Billion. She's also on her first ever sold out world tour. Please welcome Addison Rae.
Come on now, Addison Rae.
That's an entrance. Welcome Back to the show.
Addison Rae
Thanks for having me.
Jimmy Fallon
Oh, please. And happy birthday in advance.
Addison Rae
Thank you.
Jimmy Fallon
It's a big birthday. Yeah, it's a 20, 25. Big deal. What do you do? What do you do for a birthday? Do you have a big celebration?
Addison Rae
You know, I am scared of birthdays. Not because I'm scared of aging. I actually love aging. I think aging is amazing. It's like, I'm like, oh, yeah. Everything just feels like it matters much less when you get older. I'm like, yeah, actually, anything goes. As long as I'm surviving, I'm good.
Jimmy Fallon
Ye.
Addison Rae
But my mom used to have really grand birthdays for me, so I actually feel like now I downplay it a little bit. Like, I'm like, I'll never live up to what she did for me.
Jimmy Fallon
That's great.
Addison Rae
So why even try? You know, like, what you do. Don't say happy birthday.
Jimmy Fallon
Oh, we're just donating this.
Addison Rae
No, I'm kidding. My mom would. Okay. So one year, she got me a Hannah Montana doll, and when I flipped over the Hannah Montana doll, there was tickets to the Hannah Montana tour. And I remember being like, this is a dream. So I had Hannah Montana. I actually think the Cheetah Girls were playing as well. And so I got to see the Cheetah Girls and Hannah Montana, which is, like, really crazy. And then another birthday, I went to Justin Bieber on my world 2.0.
Jimmy Fallon
That's so cool.
Addison Rae
Like, how do you beat my world 2.0?
Jimmy Fallon
No. No.
Justin Bieber. Did these concerts make you want to be a performer?
Addison Rae
Yeah, Well, I grew up dancing, so I always loved to be on stage and performing. And I think seeing, you know, him on stage, I was dying. But also just like, wow, one day, like, that'll be me up there, really, in the levitating heart.
Jimmy Fallon
Yeah. But now you are.
Yeah.
Addison Rae
It's crazy.
Jimmy Fallon
I know everyone's probably doing this to you and, like. Yeah. Cause they love you so much. I mean. And did you ever get to meet any of these people or. No, just go to the.
Addison Rae
Well, at the time, you know, I remember, like, really fangirling and just desperate to, like, have any ounce of me be seen. Like, I'm like, I need to be seen or heard by Justin Bieber. And so my cousins and I actually went to the concert together, and we all had matching hot pink shirts with, like, glitter decals. We, like, customized the shirts. We came up with this chant that we were like, oh, this is gonna get us backstage. So I'll tell you, it was. We've got bieber fever. It's 102, and the only way to cure it is to go backstage with you.
Jimmy Fallon
Wow.
That's fantastic. And this.
It didn't work.
Did it work?
It didn't work.
No, it didn't work. No, no, no. 102. Just to be with you. Backstage with you.
Addison Rae
Didn't work. Epic fail.
Jimmy Fallon
How about now? Does Justin Bieber know that you ever did this?
Addison Rae
I hope not. Well, too bad for myself now.
Jimmy Fallon
No.
Mark Ruffalo
What do you mean, now?
Jimmy Fallon
He'll love it. Are you kidding me? He'll love it.
Addison Rae
Fever, fever, fever, fever.
Chase Infinity
Yes.
Jimmy Fallon
I still got it, man.
You kidding me?
But you've been having such an incredible year. Congrats on the album and debut Alb. Debut at Coachella.
Yeah.
I mean, talk to me. First of all, I know that Charli XCX brought you out for Von Dutch. What was it like working with Charli?
Addison Rae
I mean, I love Charli. She is someone that is such a true artist and is so vulnerable and honest and always just so true to herself. And I think that's so inspiring to me for so many reasons. I think watching someone be so diligently themselves is always really inspiring. And someone that kind of has taught me that there are no rules to this and songwriting and artistry can just be anything you want it to be. Yeah. And she brought me out for Coachella, and now I get to go and do Coachella on my own, which is really nice.
Jimmy Fallon
Oh, my God, buddy, that's so great.
Addison Rae
Are you going to be there?
Jimmy Fallon
I'll totally be there. Are you kidding?
Addison Rae
Are you guys going to come to Coachella?
Jimmy Fallon
Yes. Okay.
Wait till you hear our chant that we're going to say together. Yeah. I need to be good to be backstage with you. You love that if you have a fever, it's 102. And we'd like it better if we're backstage with you.
Addison, bring us backstage.
Addison Rae
I'll bring you backstage.
Jimmy Fallon
Jim, can we talk about this viral video that was going around about you? Because I just. I love you so much. Just from the reaction. Someone was. It was a few years back, and someone was just yelling to you because someone's on. You're on a bus. And they're like, stay hydrated. And you thought they were saying, say hi, Draded to a person named Drated. We'll have the video. Watch this. Addison, stay hydrated.
Chase Infinity
Hi.
Jimmy Fallon
Hydrated.
Addison Rae
Hydrated.
Jimmy Fallon
What? She's like, hydrated. Hydrated?
Addison Rae
I thought you said hydrated.
Jimmy Fallon
It's like, I actually never.
Addison Rae
I never see the end of that, but I know. I actually. I think I thought their name was Drayden.
Jimmy Fallon
Yeah. Hi. Yeah. So you're like, Drayton.
Addison Rae
I don't know.
Jimmy Fallon
Say, hi, Drayden.
Addison Rae
Hi, Drayden.
Jimmy Fallon
But honestly, it does sound like he's saying, hey.
Addison Rae
I know. Well, yeah, say hi to my friend at the time. Like, I remember it was, like, really big for people to come up to you and be like, oh, can you say hi to my friend? Whatever, like, at home, like, oh, she's a fan of you. Can you say hi to my cousin? And I'd be like, hi, cousin. You know? So then it was just like, oh, say hi, Dra D. And I was like, hi.
Jimmy Fallon
I love it this way.
Addison Rae
It was good intention. I thought I was being nice to someone's cousin or something.
Jimmy Fallon
Yes.
Anyone out there named Drated?
Yeah. Hi. Hi. Hi, Dredd.
I think it's really cool of you. Let's talk about Addison. Here we go. This is the debut. Gotten great reviews. You released it this summer, and it's been streamed over. I've said this a billion times.
I know. Wow. Crazy.
That's fantastic. Well, explain what the vibe was with this and how you actually. I want to hear the story about how you got signed.
Addison Rae
Okay.
Jimmy Fallon
It's an interesting story, right?
Addison Rae
So I went into Columbia, and I had talked to Ron Perry plenty of times before. He's a mutual friend. You know, I had known him, known of him, but I don't think he ever really knew, like, oh, I wanted to take music seriously and, like, be, you know, an artist. And so I kind of was like, okay, well, let me have a chance to talk to Ron about this. Cause, like, I think he deserves to hear my story. And I'm like, okay, you know, let's set a meeting. We set a meeting. I made this binder. I had a binder. And usually when you go into a label meeting, they're, like, expecting you to show them music, obviously.
Chase Infinity
Right?
Addison Rae
Like, you play the label, the music.
Jimmy Fallon
You didn't play any music?
Addison Rae
No music. I had colors printed out, and I had words printed out.
Jimmy Fallon
Oh, no.
Addison Rae
I know. Dream big, guys.
Jimmy Fallon
You thought this was a good idea?
Addison Rae
I did. I was like, I don't have the music because I haven't been able to go into the studio. But I was like, I know exactly what I want to do. And I was like, here's 50 words that are describing how the music's gonna make you feel. And here's 10 colors.
Jimmy Fallon
Wow.
Addison Rae
Yeah.
Jimmy Fallon
And they believed in you.
Addison Rae
And they believed me. I know. But I'm really good at convincing people to believe. I really am.
Jimmy Fallon
Yeah. So then you're making the album and they go. They probably go, we don't know what she does.
Addison Rae
Yeah, no, they had no idea.
Jimmy Fallon
I mean, we don't know what this.
Is gonna sound like. She just showed us colors, so it's gonna be colorful and it's gonna make us feel good.
I know.
Addison Rae
I was like, you know, just believe it and some magic will happen, I promise.
Jimmy Fallon
And then, boy, oh boy, did it. Yeah.
Addison Rae
Went into the studio with my two really close friends and collaborators, Luke and Elvira. So it was a room of females only making this album, which was really, really special and so rare.
Jimmy Fallon
And you write your stuff, you work hard, you write your own stuff. And it's amazing.
Thank you.
And now here we are. The album's out. You're on the sold out world tour.
I know.
Are you ready for this?
Yeah.
Addison Rae
I actually just performed last night and I had a really fun time. I have another show tomorrow, so I will come tomorrow.
Jimmy Fallon
I'll be screaming, trust me.
Yeah.
Addison Rae
You'll do the thing then.
Jimmy Fallon
Maybe I'll do the thing then. Yeah. Yeah. Right before Diet Pepsi, which. Are you doing that tonight?
Addison Rae
Yeah, I am.
Jimmy Fallon
Yes. Come on. We'll be right back with Chase Infinity. Stick around. You're so excited.
Our next guest is a talented actress in the breakout of the number one movie in the world, One Battle after another, which is in theaters and IMAX now. Everyone, please welcome Chase Infinity.
One and only.
Please welcome, welcome, welcome to the show.
Chase Infinity
And thanks for having me.
Jimmy Fallon
This is your late night debut. It is. I'm honored.
Thank you for being here.
Addison Rae
Thank you for having me.
Jimmy Fallon
Congrats on everything. One battle after another. You're in the number one movie and you're getting rave reviews. There's Oscar buzz for you. How is all of this feeling?
Chase Infinity
I mean, it's really crazy to think that I'm so happy. It's getting so much positive response because the project is so special to me, so special to Paul Thomas Anderson, everybody else who was involved. And I've just been feeling so much love from everybody. So thank you all for watching the movie.
Jimmy Fallon
I mean, this is your first big thing. Yeah. I mean, now that it's out, have you thought about maybe going and seeing it in a theater and seeing it with. With just the people and the public?
I have.
Chase Infinity
I went and saw it.
Jimmy Fallon
You did it.
Chase Infinity
I went and saw it with three of my best friends, like right after we wrapped the press tour and I went to my local Theater in Chicago, the Music Box. And then I saw it in 70 millimeter there with my three best friends, and I.
Jimmy Fallon
Did anyone recognize you?
Chase Infinity
Not until, like, very, very at the end. And I was leaving, but then people were coming up to me and they were like, you're not the girl in the movie, are you? And I was like, no, I am. And they're like, oh, my God.
Jimmy Fallon
What?
Yeah. You're like, no, I'm just a super fan of her, and I look and dress exactly like her. Yeah. I also saw you posted. Someone sent you flowers. Gorgeous flowers, by the way. And can we say who sent these to you?
Chase Infinity
Zendaya sent them to me.
Jimmy Fallon
I mean, what.
What did that mean? What did that mean to you?
Chase Infinity
Like, literally even looking at it now and thinking about it, I love her so much. And it makes me tear up thinking about it because I was so happy and I was so grateful. And then I got to. To see her and thank her in person a couple days ago at the Louis Vuitton show in Paris, and I was like, I'm just such a massive fan, and I've been watching you since I was 10. So, like, I've seen you.
Jimmy Fallon
So.
Chase Infinity
Yes, I've been watching her since Shake it Up. So, like, I was freaking out and, like, getting to meet her in person, I was like, oh, my God, this is such a.
Jimmy Fallon
Did you tell her that you've been watching?
Chase Infinity
I had to walk away too soon because I was like, I'm gonna start crying.
Jimmy Fallon
Yeah, well, she might see it now, but this is your first movie role, and it's a Paul Thomas Anderson movie. I mean, he's the best. He's so fun. What do you remember about getting cast?
Chase Infinity
Oh, my gosh. It was a long audition process. I actually did my first audition via self tape while I was shooting my first TV show, Presumed Innocent. And I went in for Chemistry Reads callbacks, camera tests, so many times, and I think, like, so chemistry reads.
Jimmy Fallon
Are you in the room with Leonardo DiCaprio?
Chase Infinity
Yeah. So my first. My first callback was a chemistry with Leonardo DiCaprio and Regina Hall. And that was when I met Paul Tim Sanderson for the first time, casually. Oh, and I would have been so nervous.
Jimmy Fallon
Are you kidding me?
I wouldn't have ever even done that.
Chase Infinity
Yeah, it was really crazy. And, like, I remember, like, right before I went in, I was like, okay, I'm gonna see some faces that I know, and I'm not gonna let that faze me. And I'm gonna make sure that I'm showing up for Myself and being a great scene partner more than anything.
Jimmy Fallon
So you can't even talk to Zendaya. I mean, how are you gonna do this? And act in a mov. These legends and Paul Dyers, but you nailed it. I talked to the cast, I talked to Leo, and he was like, oh, once we had a chemistry, we knew it was her. She was amazing.
Chase Infinity
It means so much.
Jimmy Fallon
They read with a bunch of actresses, and you just clicked with everybody and worked with Paul. How was Paul Thomas Anderson?
Chase Infinity
Oh, my gosh. Working with him was like, I feel like every actor's dream. He just lets you play and he trusts you, and I trust him. And he creates such a safe environment for all of us to work freely. And he's such a wonderful collaborator, so I'm so grateful to have worked with.
Jimmy Fallon
Him and Sean Penn. Yeah, you have some intense scenes.
Chase Infinity
Yeah.
Jimmy Fallon
Sean Penn is phenomenal as well. Everybody's great in this movie, but Sean Penn is like a. He's kind of a general, and he's got a weird chin and he walks weird. But then he gets. I don't want to. Then ptsd. Am I scaring you? Because you get into crazy scenes. Did you meet him before you did the scenes with him?
Chase Infinity
No, I didn't actually meet him until we had our first day on camera together, which my first camera with him was a scene where we, like, get into a little bit of a scuffle in the sand and I end up flipping him. So that was my first.
Jimmy Fallon
That's your first time meeting.
Chase Infinity
That was my first day meeting Sean Penn.
Jimmy Fallon
Was that planned, you think, by Paul Thomas Sanderson? Like, don't meet him.
Chase Infinity
It is part of his plan. Like, there was a couple other people that I didn't get to meet until later on in production. Like Teyana. Like, I didn't get to meet Teyana Taylor until.
Jimmy Fallon
She was great in this movie, too.
Chase Infinity
Fantastic.
Jimmy Fallon
And I know her. She's one of the nicest people. And she's frightening in this movie.
She's.
Chase Infinity
She is so cool in me.
Jimmy Fallon
She's really cool. Yeah. I was like, yo, you scared me, man. It was like. Cause it's so fantastic. And then seeing you in the theater, everyone was like, who is that girl? You were just unbelievable. You jump right off the screen and you're a star. But for anyone who hasn't seen one battle after another, how do we set it up for anyone?
Chase Infinity
Oh, my gosh. I feel like it's a movie that you can't really encapsulate in words because I don't want to put it in a box. Because the worst thing, the biggest disservice to do to the movie is put it in a box. But short synopsis is it follows a ex revolutionary named Bob Ferguson who's played by Leonardo DiCaprio. And he's brilliant, too. Amazing.
Jimmy Fallon
So amazing you can't take your eyes off.
Chase Infinity
And you're pretty much like watching him see his past, catch up with him. And my character Willa Ferguson gets kidnapped and he pretty much goes on this excursion to go get her back. But that's like a very, very.
Jimmy Fallon
That's a great way to describe it.
Chase Infinity
Thank you.
Jimmy Fallon
But it is the most intense. You're on the edge of your seat. It is exciting and it's thrilling. I'm like that soundtrack, by the way.
Chase Infinity
It's amazing.
Jimmy Fallon
The soundtrack gives you a heart attack.
Chase Infinity
No, for real. You're in the theater.
Jimmy Fallon
Like piano jazz. Yes. I was like, I can't take it.
I can't take it anymore. What's going to happen?
And the last scene, oh, wait, I don't want to spoil it, but wow, it's great. All right, well, you're phenomenal in this. Thank you for coming on the show. Congrats on all the great buzz.
Chase Infinity, everybody. One Battle after another is in theaters and IMAX now. Stick around, everybody. My thanks to Mark Ruffalo. Chase Infinity, Addison Ray. That is how you do it. Addison Ray. Hey, and the Roots right there from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Good night, everybody.
