From Studio 6P in Rockefeller center in the heart of New York City, it's a Tonight show starring Jimmy Fallon. Hey, hey, hey, hey. Tonight joins Jimmy and his guest Mariah carey. Pose of St. John. Musical guest Mariah Carey. Featuring Anderson Pax and V legendary Ruth Curtis. Two, one, Mama, she. And now here he is. Give me seven. That's what I'm talking about. I love you. Thank you so much. Enjoy yourself, everybody. Enjoy yourself. Welcome, welcome, welcome to the Tonight Show. That's right. I'm so happy you're here, you guys. Today in New York City, it was nearly 80 degrees. Yeah, it's strange. The weather says it's summer, the calendar says it's fall. And my guest tonight, Mariah Carey, makes me feel like Christmas. That's right, Mariah Carey is here tonight. Yep. Mariah. In September, CBS heard and was like, damn, Jimmy beat us to it. Yeah, kind of did. Kind of did. Well, let's get to some news, guys. This is big. Congress has to agree on a new spending deal in the next 24 hours or the government will shut down tomorrow at midnight. You know, these are crazy times when the government is about to shut down and Americans are like, honestly, maybe we could all use a break. I'm good. Let's just take a day. No news. No news for one day. I'm good. If Congress can't reach a deal, non essential workers will stop being paid. I'm not sure what hurts more, hearing that you're non essential or that you won't be paid. It's like, wait, yeah, the government has different kinds of employees. For instance, national park employees, non essential TSA agents, essential air traffic controllers. Kind of a gray area. Meanwhile, you know, the second the government shuts down, President Trump is going to be like, that's too bad. I was going to tell Congress to release the Epstein files anyway. Too bad. That's too bad. Sorry. Not sorry. Well, to prepare for the shutdown of the government, they just released this message. Take a look at this. Without a new spending deal by 11:59pm On September 30, the United States federal government will immediately shut down. Non essential personnel will be furloughed and many government functions will cease operations. At that point, all Americans will be invited to visit spirit Halloween at the Capitol. The nation's largest spirit Halloween featuring costumes like Jack o' Lantern, businessman, adult Harry Potter, your Aunt Phyllis, and a life sized Lavubu. See you there. Everyone's invited. Yeah. Some more news from Washington today. Trump pledged to impose a 100% tariff on all Foreign made movies. Americans can handle a lot of things, but I don't think paying 50 bucks to see the Smurfs movie is one of them. Oh, and Trump also just announced substantial tariffs on any country that doesn't make their furniture in the US IKEA heard and was like, what the flug are you talking about? You out of your flug in mind. Now some more political news. Tomorrow, Trump is attending a meeting with all the top US Military leaders from around the world. Yeah. And he was just overheard talking about who's coming to his staff. Wow. Yeah. Check this out, Mr. President. Tomorrow you'll meet with all of our military's top leaders. Colonel Sanders? No. Captain Crunch. No. Captain Hook? No. Captain Jack Sparrow? No. Lieutenant Dan. No. General Sow? No. General Mills. No. The general who sells car insurance with Chaq? No. The sailor from the Village People. Private Ryan? No. The guys who saved Private Ryan? No. The K Pop Demon Hunters? No. Tom Cruise and Top Gun? No. Tom Cruise in Mission Impossible? No. Tom Cruise in Jack Reacher? No. Tom Cruise in A Few Good Men? No. Tom Cruise in born on the 4th of July? No. Tom Cruise and Jerry Maguire? No. You complete me. What? Rambo? No. Captain Crunch. You already said you know what. Sure, we'll serve Captain Crunch and get back to this later. Yay. Interesting. Wow. Wow. Switching gears, the NFL just announced that Bad Bunny is headlining the Super Bowl 60 halftime show. Apparently, Bad Bunny was chosen after New York City Mayor Eric Adams dropped out of contention. Some business news. Chipotle is releasing a new spicy sauce in an effort to attract Gen Z customers. Is better than Taco Bell's idea of filling their chulpas with zin pouches. Hey, get this. I read that nearly 200,000 BMWs were just recalled over a potential fire risk. Don't worry, the rest will continue taking up two parking spaces at the mall. That's hilarious. They'll just park it wherever you want in the mall if you want it. A potential fire risk. Yep. Every Tesla owner was like, ah, you get used to it. And finally, China just opened the world's highest and it's being hailed as an infrastructure miracle. Not sure I want to drive on something that's described as a miracle. But China says it's totally safe and made from the finest steel from Temu. We have a great show. Give it up for the Roots, everybody. Let's go. And we back. What a show we have for you tonight. She is a five time Grammy winning music icon who has sold more than 200 million albums worldwide. 200 million. Her new album Here for it all is out now. Mariah Carey is here to top and perform with Anderson Pack Love Rykari. Also, she is a successful entrepreneur, author and marketing executive and a scene stealing cast member from the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. She's now the chief marketing officer and co star of my new series on Brand which premieres tomorrow night at 10pm right here on NBC. Bozma St. John is joining us tonight. Bose, she's the greatest. I found a new friend in both. I love her. I'm very excited for you guys to see this show. It's a business reality competition. It's like Shark Tank meets the Apprentice meets Project Runway. People from all walks of life get to compete and pitch marketing ideas to different brands. That's the idea of the show. It's really fun but we wanted everybody to get in on the action. So NBC is doing a cool thing. They're going to hold a contest where you get to create an original design for an on brand billboard. Ooh. Okay. We've teamed up with Canva to do this so anyone can enter and the winner will get their billboard on Sunset Boulevard in Los Angeles. Oh, and and win a trip to New York City and two tickets to see the tonight show. Come on. Just go to on brandbillboard.com youm have until October 8th to submit get creative. Have fun with it. We can't wait to see what everyone comes up with. Here we go. We'll be right back with more tonight too, everybody. Thank you, bud. Our first guest is a five time Grammy winner and one of the best selling artist of all time. Her new album Here for It all is out now. Everyone please welcome the one, the only Mariah Carey. All the time. Congrats on the new album. Here for it all. It's happening. I want to get into this. I have other things. I have a secret song question I want to get into too. Yes. That's never been talked about, but I have lots of things to talk about. First of all, how is the family? How are the twins?
B
They're good.
A
How old are they now?
B
They're 14.
A
Wow.
B
I know.
A
14 years old happens quick.
B
I can't even know what to say.
A
Yeah. What are they into? What are they into?
B
They just kind of like, well, my daughter's into music and she likes music. She used to sing with me on my Christmas tour, but I don't know if she's doing it this year.
A
Oh, really?
B
Yeah.
A
Maybe her own thing. Maybe.
B
I'm trying to get her to do her own thing. I think she Wants to. So possibly.
A
Yeah. Okay, good. All right, let's take it. Rock a row. Yay, Ro, we'd love it. I'd love it. Come on. The timeshare.
B
And my son is very obsessed with streaming and gaming and all the things.
A
Rocky's into that stuff. I know. He was doing a live stream on Twitch, and you interrupted his live stream.
B
How dare I pay all the bills and then interrupt. No, but you know what? The thing about Rocky, he just convinced me to get him. I mean, his sister has a new dog, a golden retriever. I have three. Well, two dogs. And he just said, I never get anything. You know, Ro gets everything she wants. I just want a tarantula. And I'm like, this kid is kidding me. Like, I'm so scared of tarantula.
A
No. Anything else?
B
Well, I let him have it.
A
Oh, my gosh. I would have been. I would have been frightened on that. I wouldn't do that.
B
It scares me. But I'm just trying to. I'm trying to be the cool mom.
A
You are the cool mom, but I have. I have a clip of you. I think you're the cool mom, but you be the judge. Let's take a look at when you walked into one of his streaming moments. Look at this. Okay. I know. I just want to get. Everyone's hooked up. Mario. Oh, okay.
B
Y' all need to get out now.
C
Just. Everybody get out.
B
Mom, I can see you're saying, hi, Mariah.
A
I love you. Oh, my God. Hello, Miss Carrie. Hi, Mrs. Carrie. He's like, oh, my gosh. Mom, get out. Mom, come on. He's cool.
C
He's cool.
B
He is, definitely.
A
I have to ask you about this viral bit that happened. Well, everything you kind of do goes viral. But it was last month, you were interviewed with a BBC Radio. Some interviewer, Scott Mills, brought up Katy Perry going to space.
B
Yes.
A
You all know what I'm talking about. And he asked you if you would like to go to space. And do you remember your response?
B
I believe I said, I think I've done enough.
A
Yes, you said, I think, and everyone loved that line. I think I've done enough.
B
Well, I mean, we're going to space now.
A
Like, what are we doing? But I have. They actually made merch now. Someone made. They made a shirt that has your face on it that says, I think I've done enough now. It's available wherever you get merch. It's on Amazon. It's awesome. But this is mine, and I'm keeping this one. It's so rad. I Just love you. Just keep being you. You're so good. You're so real. So maybe about a month ago, I want to ask you about this album. There's a secret album that you put out. Well, let's just say this Questlove comes in my office, okay? He goes. He has a laptop. He has a pair of headphones. He goes, listen to this and tell me who you think this is. I go, okay. So I listen to it and I'm like, it's good, whatever it is. I go, is it. Is it Courtney Love? Is it Hole? Is it. Is it Belly? I don't know who I was guessing. He was like, nope, nope. I go, I have no idea. Who is it? It's like, kind of grunge, kind of. And he goes, it's Mariah Carey. And I go, what? So wait, do you remember anything about this album that I'm.
B
Yeah, Chick. Someone's Ugly Daughter is the title.
A
This was never released. Never released.
B
But I do like the COVID And I drew this cover. I didn't draw the roach. The roach is real.
A
You drew this? You did this?
B
Yeah, with the lipstick. I was just rebelling because I was working on Daydream and I was doing, like, Always Be My Baby and Fantasy and those kind of songs, and I loved doing that. But at the end of the night, when the band was still there, I'd say, can you play, like, you know, just play this so that I can get out of my head.
A
Get it out of your brain. But it sounds fantastic. It's really good. Who's in the band?
B
I think they're going to believe us. That it sounds.
A
I don't know, Ryan. I'm not joking. It is Quest, yo. It's her best record.
B
Oh, my gosh.
A
I think this is her best record. Okay. I just want to say that. Here for it all. Here for it all. But this. We freaked out. We listened to 10 tracks. Yeah. And there you did. Yeah. I don't know where you got it. It's some secret file.
B
He can get anything.
A
I know. Yeah. But honestly, Mariah, it was so good. And I was like, I wonder if she'll even talk about it on the show. If you ever. Next time you come on. And so I appreciate you talking about this, but then I asked you, can we play some of the song? And you agreed or your people agreed?
B
I did agree, but I just want to say I don't know which record label this is owned by. I don't think it's any of them because it's just the way that it went down. But it's not out. Let's discuss. It's not out. It never was.
A
Never wizards. Well, let's discuss. Because maybe this could be another Christmas gift from rye.
B
Doesn't really go with the season. It's more Halloween.
A
It is Halloween. But no, it's so red art. So you sing lead vocals on this grunge song. It's called Prom Queen. We listened to, like. We listened to, like, five tracks. I loved it. I was like, this is amazing. Of course you know how to do this. But I love that you're like, this is a side project for you. Like, yeah, I can do this awesome record as well.
B
I always regretted not putting it out, but they kind of stopped me at that point. You know, it was Sony at the time. We love the Sony now, but back then.
A
Yeah.
B
Little controlling. Little control.
A
Little controlling. We can put it out. We can get it out.
B
Yes.
A
Come on, let's come together. Let's come together and release this. You have to put it out. Right. But anyways, thank you.
B
Thank you for playing.
A
Thanks for letting me play that. You know, you're one of my faves. I want to talk about Here For It All. Congrats on this. Is Here For It All. Is that your favorite track on the album?
B
Well, I think it. Here's how it happened. So. I love the song Here for It All. I put it last on the list.
A
Yeah.
B
Because I wanted people to listen to the whole album and get to Here For it all, so I named the album Here For It All.
A
Okay.
B
It's just. It's a ballad, but it kind of goes into different vibes towards the end. It's like, you know, it's great. My fans are very happy with that one.
A
I love them. I love. I love the one with Anderson. Yes. Anderson Paak is here tonight. Yes. He's fantastic. It's called Play this song and you'll be performing that for us tonight. I thought it'd be a fun game if we could play a game called Here For it all, where I just list things and you tell me if you're here for it or not.
B
So slightly here for it doesn't matter. Not here for it all. We're not expecting that you could say.
A
Slightly will just understand that to mean not here for it.
B
Okay.
A
You say Here for it, you go, or slightly here for it or I'm not here for it.
B
Okay.
A
Labubu Dolls.
B
Here for it.
A
Oh, yeah. Pickleball.
B
Pickleball. I have not. I haven't heard this one. Yet I like pickles.
A
No, it's nothing to do with pickles.
B
Oh, not here for it.
A
Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah. Okay. Being team Conrad.
B
Yes or no, you guys. Okay.
A
All right. Okay. Okay. Dming someone to ask them out.
B
Me doing that.
A
No, you don't need. No, no. Yes or no?
B
It's probably not gonna happen.
A
Yeah, yeah.
B
Crocs here for it. Karaoke, not here for it.
A
No. It's so interesting. People think that I'm here for it too. I think I had a phase where I was all about karaoke. I just kind of don't do it anymore.
B
Yeah. I remember when you went through that little moment.
A
I do. I liked it. You did?
B
Yeah.
A
Thank you. Are you here for me?
B
Of course. Always.
A
I'm here for you all the time. That's all I really need to hear. All right. Pumpkin spice lattes.
B
For that person.
A
People liking Halloween more than Christmas.
B
Nah, nah.
A
Come on. You can't do that. That's gonna dunno. No, no. Come on, Mariah Carey. Everybody here for it all is out now. We'll be right back with Bozma St. John. Stick around, everybody. Face for your face. Eyes for your eyes. Don't blink. Black ink has a vibe. Yeah, y' all, come on. Yeah, y' all, come on. All right. Our guest is a very successful entrepreneur, author, and marketing executive. She's now the chief marketing officer and costar of my new series on Brand, which premieres tomorrow at 10pm here on NBC. And then a new show airs on Friday. Please welcome Bozma St. John. Thank you. All right, Bozma, we have so much to talk about. Bozma St. John, my goodness. Last time we were on, we had no idea that we were doing a show together.
C
I know. And now look at us.
A
We're best friends now. We're besties. Yeah. We have a lot going on right now. First off is our show on Brand. It premieres tomorrow. We're very excited about this. Yes. You also just wrapped up shooting season 15 of Real Housewives at Beverly Hills.
C
That's right.
A
I can't wait for that. Yes, yes, yes.
C
Thank you.
A
And then the most exciting news. You're engaged. Congratulations. Wow. Tuftsy. Wow. Blinded. Blinded. Blinded, Blinded. Look at that ring. Oh, my gosh. Thank you. Now, I have to ask about this because I obviously know Keely, but you're into planning so much.
C
Yes.
A
Throughout your whole career, was he nervous when he planned? How did he? Or what could he even say about this?
C
You know that my expectations are very high.
A
Yes.
C
About everything.
A
Of course. Yes.
C
And so I had very high expectations.
A
Must be nervous out of his mind.
C
Well, I. Look, I don't know about that, but I knew he had to hit the mark.
A
Yes.
C
And he really did.
A
Aw.
C
So it was really beautiful and very sentimental.
A
That ring is gorgeous.
C
Yeah. So there's a story behind this. So a few years ago, on two separate trips, I bought these two pieces of jewelry from India, which I wear constantly. This one is actually a replica of my friend Priyanka Chopra Jones ring. Because when I went to her wedding, I asked her jeweler to make me one, sort of like, as a I love myself gift, you know?
A
Wow.
C
And so when Keeley was getting ready to propose, he went to India to get this ring.
A
Well, he knew.
C
Yeah. Without my knowledge.
A
He puts the extra.
C
Went all the way to Mumbai.
A
Come on.
C
Come on.
A
So he's a special. He's the one, huh?
C
He's the one.
A
Yeah. He's the best. I'm so happy I sent you a. Thank you. We love him.
C
Yes. We love him.
A
I sent you an engagement gift as well, Jimmy.
C
Okay, y', all, can I tell you what Jimmy did? So this is what Jimmy did, okay. As my new best friend. So I. Obviously, I'm excited. I'm happy about the engagement. I sent Jimmy the pictures, and I'm like, look. Oh, my God. I'm getting married.
A
Yeah.
C
And Jimmy's like, congratulations. He's so happy. And then the next day, I'm sitting in my living room comfortably, and I get a package at the front door. I bring it into the house. There's a note. It's from Jimmy. It's like, congratulations, Boze and Keeley. I wish you many years of happy marriage. And then in parentheses, it's like, keep it spicy.
B
And I was like.
C
I was like, well, Jimmy's been married a long time. He knows how to keep things spicy, so I'll take the advice. And then I open up the package, and it is four bowls of pepper soup.
A
Yeah. Now, hot. Hot soup.
C
Clearly keeping it spice. Now, the backstory on that is that the last time I was here, we had such a good time, we decided to go to dinner together afterwards. And Jimmy was like, where do you want to go? I was like, an African restaurant. And so we went to Lagos, which is in Times Square.
A
It is fantastic.
C
It was such a great. We were there for, like, three hours. We ate everything. And to Jimmy's credit, he did eat everything I ordered for him, including the pepper soup. But he almost died.
A
No, it's the hottest. It's the hottest. Soup I've ever had in.
C
Yes.
A
And I've eaten. I've been on hot ones. And this is. This is like the bomb, but heated up and put in a bowl. That's right, it is. And then. Do you remember we ordered special drinks to Cheers, and they were on fire.
C
They were literally on fire.
A
So the soup was hot, and my drink was on fire. You want to kill me? I don't know what was going on. I don't. You survived.
C
You survived. And now you are African.
A
Yeah, I survived. Yes. I love that.
C
I'm literally African.
A
Yes. Let's talk about on brand. When I reached out to you to do the show with me, what was your. What was your first thought?
C
Oh, my gosh. Well, first of all, this whole idea felt like I was just born for it. You know, it's like my career has been 25 years in marketing and big corporate companies.
A
I mean, everywhere. Netflix, Uber, Apple. Yes. Pepsi. Yes. I mean, I take one of those jobs. You have all the. You're in the marketing hall of fame. Come on. You know what I mean. I know. And so. Yeah. What do you do?
C
So I was really. I'm excited about this idea because it really actually mimics, like, my real life. And so I remember I told you. I was like, look, if you don't give me this job, I'm coming to set anyway.
A
Yeah, yeah, I'm coming. This is me. This show is for me. Yeah. Well, NBC was looking for. They go, we should probably get you a co host for this, someone who kind of legitimizes it more. And I go, okay. And they gave me a list of people. And I go, yeah, they were good, but it wasn't perfect. And then my wife is like, do you know Bose from Real Housewives? And I go, that's probably not the speed I'm looking for. But I go, I don't. And she goes, no, she's really great. She's, like, overqualified.
C
Oh, my gosh.
A
She goes, check out. So I watched the season of Real Housewives. I got your book. I read it and also listened to it audible. It's a great book. And I got to know you. And I go, oh, my gosh. And when we met, I was like, if we get along a little bit, this is gonna be fantastic. You legitimized the show. Thank you so much. Aww. Thank you.
C
I appreciate that.
A
People freak out when you're in the room. Yeah, they light up. They freak out because they know they have to impress you.
C
Jimmy, do you remember I told you That I was like, hey, look, I didn't tell not one of the housewives that I was afraid for my reputation when I joined the show.
A
That's right.
C
I was afraid for my reputation when I joined you, though.
A
You know what I mean? I understand.
C
This is, like, my real life. This is, like, you know, marketing.
A
Yes.
C
I cannot ruin this.
A
You cannot? Yeah. You did not. You did not ruin it. Some of the brands we worked on, I just figured it would be fun to. We did Captain Morgan. That was a good episode. Yes.
C
That was great.
A
Cause we were in the stadium.
C
Yes.
A
It was crazy.
C
MetLife Stadium.
A
Duncan.
B
Yeah.
A
You know what I love about Duncan's the first episode.
C
Yes.
A
And here's what I was hoping for when we did this show. And not in a bad way, but I wanted to have good ideas. But I also wanted some ideas that were a little shaky because that's real life. Not every idea is great.
C
Right.
A
And I was looking for that American Idol kind of William Hung moment where. You know what I'm saying? I don't know who won that year, but William Hung won that year because his audition was so epic. Yeah. And I'm like, that's what I was looking for, man. Did we get. We got two that episode, I think.
C
Yeah. We got some good ones. Some doozies.
A
Munchbox.
C
Munchbox was tough.
A
Munchbox was my favorite.
C
That was tough, dude.
A
Sabrina, who's the nice. She's a real estate agent. She's the nicest, nicest lady. Has no idea what she's talking to. So innocent. She's like, y', all, I know Duncan. You guys have munchkins. So what I was thinking of is, yo, you get a munchbox. And I go, what is she? And she goes. And people are like, what's that? Munch box? I'm munch. And she kept saying it. And I go, stop saying it. I mean, you get it? Then I couldn't stop laughing.
C
Exactly. I was like, jimmy, keep a straight face.
A
We're professional. I know. I'm the host of the show. I'm like, I can't stop laughing. And then you elbowed me. Like, dude, just chill out. Cause I was like. I started getting hot. I was like laughing in church, you know? I couldn't stop laughing. I'm like, stop saying that word or words. I don't know what it is. And then that happened. So I think people will enjoy that. The first episode. That's tomorrow night. And then also, take me to your Duncan, the alien guy.
C
Oh, bt, that was our Guy.
A
He was great. I love btc.
C
Incredibly creative.
A
But he was doing this pitch for Duncan, and he was either an alien or he had an alien and a baby Bjorn.
B
Yes.
A
I didn't know what was going on.
C
And a baby T shirt.
A
And he. Yes.
C
Not a baby T shirt, but babies were on the T shirt.
A
Babies were on the T shirt. But he was going to take me to your Duncan. Take me to your Duncan.
C
There was a lot going on that episode. There was a lot going on.
A
Fantastic. I loved it. It was so good. Kitchenaid. We had a special guest on that one.
C
Yes.
A
Can't say who. Marshalls. We had. That was great Runway walking. Emotional episode.
C
Very emotional episode.
A
The ending.
C
Yes, yes, yes, yes.
A
Pillsbury. We got to hang out with the doughboy. Yes.
C
Well, you were over here trying to hug the doughboy.
A
I poked. I poked the doughboy. That's a doughboy. He knows what's up, Sonic.
B
Yes.
C
That was really great.
A
That's a great episode.
C
We have a special guest on that one too.
A
Yes, we do. Annie Housewives fans. Just saying. Southwest Airlines. We wrap a whole giant plane.
C
Yes.
A
A whole. Like a full on. Oh, it's crazy.
C
Which is so great. Cause I've done that.
A
Well, isn't that hilarious? That means that episode, they're like, well, you guys don't know what it's like. You're actually rapping. You're gonna paint the whole giant side of a plane. You're wrapping a plane. And Bozo goes, yeah, When I did that with beats, I go, you've wrapped a plane. She's done everything. I go, that's why you're the best. And then Therabody, where we have another special guest who's an athlete. That we can't say. But it's out.
C
But you have to watch in order to see.
A
Yes, you have to watch. And it's on Tuesdays and Fridays, by the way, both new episodes. We're starting a new thing at NBC. So it's like a brand new show Tuesday after the Voice and a new episode Friday at 8. Yes. So it's a family show. Get your family all around, and you'll be pausing it and guessing. And I want to hear your marketing ideas. And everyone get in there because everyone's got a good idea.
C
Oh, my gosh.
A
That's what this show is about, Jimmy.
C
But that's happened to me my entire career. You know, people just come up to me with ideas for companies that I've worked for.
A
So I just.
C
I feel like this is great, because let's open up to everybody.
A
Yes, for sure.
C
Let everybody do it.
A
Let's everyone do it. BOZEMA St. John, everybody on brand premieres tomorrow night at 10pm here on NBC. Stick around like a phoenix straight in the cabin way to my brain like a genius knowing I'm so exceeding deep stomach between it. If I said it, I mean it did it.
