We're sorry, and we promise to be at full capacity soon. And finally, Newark Airport said, oh, you thought things were bad before? Buckle up, princess. We barely had air traffic control to begin with. Now we're not getting paid. You want to take off? We accept cash, Venmo and vape juice. If you see the whole clip, it's crawling up my body the whole time. And then finally it was like it got to my neck, and I was towards the end of the song, and I was like, I'm not gonna. Whatever it is, you know, it's just touching and going back because it was just, like, little legs. So I felt like that. And I was like, just try to finish the sauce.

I was like, thank God I had a big, you know, underwear on.

And when I read this script, they sent it to me, they said Bill Condon is directed. Bill Condon, who did Dream Girls, who did Beauty and the Beast, who did.

Yes, he's a legend. He's amazing. And he wrote Chicago. He's great. And they were like, he wants you to do this. And I was like, oh, ok. So I read it and I'm like, oh, my God. Oh, my. I read it. I get to sing, I get to dance, I get to act. I get to play three different characters.

You know, especially if you're lucky enough and fortunate enough, as I have been, to have a long career. You know, these things just happen every once in a while, and this is one of those moments.

[Jimmy Fallon]

Yeah. For me, it's good. Good for you. It's rare, and it's great. And you. I can't see anyone else doing it, by the way. I would recommend. I got to see it in a theater, and it's on the big screen. The colors just pop because the stories.

It's visually stunning. You have to see this in the theater. I know people say, but this one, you have to see in the theater.

How do we describe. How do we set up Kisses of Spider Woman?

[Jennifer Lopez]

So the movie is. It's a beautiful story. It's based on the novel by Manuel Puig. It's been told a couple of times now. In the 80s, there was a movie with Bill Hurt and Raul Julia where Bill Hurt won the Oscar for his role for playing Molina. And then you have. In the 90s, they did it with Chita Rivera on Broadway When Kander and E.B. wrote the music for the musical. And now we're doing the movie musical. And it's a beautiful story. Really. It's a love story. It's not as much a musical as it is a love story. So it's funny, the people. Last night, when we were at the premiere, there was a lot of people were like, you know, I don't really like musicals, but I love this because it's more of a hybrid than just a. And it's really about. It's about these two prisoners under a political regime, and they're in the cell together, and they're so different. They're such different people.

[Jimmy Fallon]

And it's bleak in the cell. I mean, it's bleak.

[Jennifer Lopez]

And what they do to pass the time is Molina, who's played by Tona Till, who does an amazing job in this. He's brand new, and he has the lead in this movie. And he tells the story of his favorite actress, who. I play Ingrid Luna in this movie where she plays two different roles, Aurora and the Spider Woman. And he tells him this whole story.

[Jimmy Fallon]

And as he's telling it, you see the visuals of what his.

[Jennifer Lopez]

Yeah. And little by little, they become friends.

[Jimmy Fallon]

Yeah.

[Jennifer Lopez]

And then, you know, you have to watch the whole.

[Jimmy Fallon]

And then there's no. It's a beautiful story, beautiful crushing twist that it's just at the end. Congrats on the movie.

[Audrey Nuna]

I love it.

[Jennifer Lopez]

I love it. I love the music. It's Kander and Ebb, who did Cabaret, who wrote the music and lyrics for Cabaret and Chicago. And this is kind of the third one in that trilogy, Kiss of the Spider Woman. And it is just the most beautiful music. I was listening to the soundtrack on the way over here and I just can't believe it's me on the soundtrack. It's so exciting.

[Jimmy Fallon]

Why are you getting emotional listening?

[Jennifer Lopez]

It's because it's a great thing.

[Jimmy Fallon]

It's like, you know, it was amazing. And I was talking to you backstage and a lot of these were done in one take.

[EJ]

Yeah.

[Jennifer Lopez]

So, you know, in the 50s musicals, if you are into that at all, you know, they used to do these really long shots. And Bill, one of the reasons that he wanted me to do it is cause he knows I do my shows and that I can do a number from top to bottom with singing and dancing.

With crickets landing on you. You can do anything. Try me. Throw me a curveball.

[Jennifer Lopez]

Underwear, throw me.

Exactly. Bill, let's go.

So he was like, I want to shoot the numbers, like in long shots. Like, I want you to do it from top to bottom. And I had 10, 11 musical numbers in this movie. But it was so much fun and I enjoyed the challenge. I can't say it was anything but a pleasure and a joy to do.

The soundtrack has been on the Billboard 200 for 15 weeks. Golden was number one on the Billboard Hot 100 for eight weeks and longest running number one of the year on global 200 singles chart. Golden is the first number one female K pop song in the history of the Hot 100. And you are the longest running number one girl group of the century on Hot 100, beating Destiny's Child.

What have been some best of the. What are some of the best reactions that you've gotten so far?

I was going to H Mart the other day just to pick up some cup noodles because I like to travel with them.

I was walking in, it was right after rehearsal actually. And I just hear this little five year old boy singing golden at the top of his lungs, smiling ear to ear holding his mom's hand and he's.

[Jimmy Fallon]

Like born a beat.

[Jennifer Lopez]

And I, oh wow.

[EJ]

I whipped my head and I was like, there is no way this child chose to. Of all songs to sing, he chose Golden. And I think it's one thing to hear our song on the radio, but to hear it come out of a.

[Jennifer Lopez]

Child live in H Mart.

[EJ]

In H Mart, my favorite place.

[Jimmy Fallon]

In H Mart.

[Jennifer Lopez]

Of course.

I just cried at H Mart.

My kids. You cried at H Mart? My kids were singing it in fact, this past weekend we were playing a game, a board game. And my daughter sang it for about an hour straight.

Wow.

Yeah. And I didn't mind it. I loved it. I actually loved it. And she kept going, going up and then she was trying to hit the next octave up. I don't even know how you do that. But we'll hear it tonight.

[Audrey Nuna]

Yes.

[Jimmy Fallon]

It's amazing. Your vocal range is impossible. It's so good. Thank you. It is such a great song. I watched it and I go, oh, this will be fun. I'll watch it with my daughters. And I go, hey, this music's actually phenomenal. This is great. I got so into it. I loved it. I'm like, let's do it again. Let's play it all day long. I love it. And you were telling me backstage how emotional you were getting emotional responses from kids who didn't have. You were saying when you were growing up, you didn't really have movies like this.

[Audrey Nuna]

I'm emotionally constipated so I take a very, very long time to process my emotions. But I guess I was due for a cry the day of the premiere because Literally five minutes into the film, I'm, like, bawling my eyes out. And it's weird because the thing that got me was seeing kimbap, which is a Korean food. It's like Korean rice roll animated on screen. Because, I mean, I just remember, I grew up, I was one of very few Korean kids in my school district. So I would pack my kimbap in my Barbie lunchbox, you know, my container, and I would just be sneaking little pieces one by one, because I didn't want the stanky kimbap to be a reason why kids would, you know, alienate me.

[Jimmy Fallon]

And the kimchi.

[Audrey Nuna]

Yeah. And just all the stinky foods, I would just be like.

[Jimmy Fallon]

So you would hide your own.

[Audrey Nuna]

Yeah, I would hide it. And I just, you know, like, one piece at a time. Clothes. One piece at a time clothes. I think that's a feeling so many Korean Americans can relate to growing up here.

[Jimmy Fallon]

So sad.

[Audrey Nuna]

It is really sad.

[Jimmy Fallon]

You should be able to eat your lunch in front of the other kids.

[EJ]

And she's a baby.

[Jimmy Fallon]

I know.

[Jennifer Lopez]

She's like a child doing that.

[EJ]

That's so heartbreaking.

[Jimmy Fallon]

I love that. The first five minutes of the movie, you're seeing that, and you go, that's what that. You go, yeah. Already things are changing.

[Audrey Nuna]

I didn't expect it. I was like, wow, that hurt a nerve that, like, I forgot that I even had, you know? But I think that's a very relatable feeling for all of us, 100%.

[Jimmy Fallon]

I want to talk about a little bit about Golden. Something strange happened while recording with one of you.

[Ian Eisendrath]

So, yeah, I saw Ghost while recording Golden. So what happened was, you know, midway, you know, my knob wasn't working. Cause, you know, in the studio, like, there's a knob for volumes, volume and everything. Yeah. So volume wasn't working. And when that doesn't happen, when that happens, an assistant engineer would come in, shout out to Sully, and he would come in. And so, yeah, it wasn't working. So I was like, hey, Sully, it's not working. And I heard him walk in, you know, open the door, his footsteps. And I look up because it started working again. I was like, oh, actually, Sully is okay. And I look up, and there was no one. And for a split Second, though, like, 0.3 millisecond, I saw a tall dude with a flannel.

[Audrey Nuna]

He was a grunge ghost.

[Ian Eisendrath]

He was like a grunge.

[Jennifer Lopez]

Yeah.

[Ian Eisendrath]

With blue jeans.

[Jimmy Fallon]

Was a grunge ghost.

[Ian Eisendrath]

Yeah, he wore a flannel. It was super tall. I Saw him for a split second. He, like, walking towards me. But, like, it was just like for again, split second. And immediately, Ian Eisendrath, our music director, was like, okay, ladies, let's get back to work. So no time to digest the situation.

[Jimmy Fallon]

Okay?

[Ian Eisendrath]

And then the next I went to the studio again. I was like, hey, guys. So, like, how old is this building? And they were like, why? Did you see a ghost? And I was like, yeah.

[Jimmy Fallon]

Like, I did, actually.

[Ian Eisendrath]

Even though he was like, was it a girl or a guy? And I was like, oh, it's a guy. And he was like, oh, he's the third floor.

[Jimmy Fallon]

There's a guy ghost on the third floor.

[Ian Eisendrath]

The fourth floor is a woman ghost.

[Jimmy Fallon]

But there's some old.

[Ian Eisendrath]

Yeah, so. And then there's a saying. What's crazy, when mom reminded me later, she was like, there's a myth in Korea, in the studio, in the music labels, if you see a ghost or any paranormal activity while recording a song, it's a hit.

[Audrey Nuna]

So.

So here's to seeing more ghosts.
