And it's really, like, on paper, it was a show about a sandwich shop, you know, and it just. It. It blew up and it's gotten more. Yeah. More and more popular. We're very, very lucky, man.

But we're shooting on location this one day, and we're in kind of like a college town in Chicago, and I'm getting out of the van, and Moody's waiting for me to get out of the van just in case anything's, you know, like, going down.

And he's a big man, you know, And I get out of the van and there's a group of maybe like 20, 19 year old girls that are like barricaded 20, 30ft away from me, nowhere near me.

You know, he's making his apologies. He's trying to talk to his mother for the first time in a very long time. Trying to amend things with Richie. Yeah, you know, we're working through it.

Your last album, Manana Cerro Bonito was the first all Spanish language album by a woman to reach number one on the Billboard 200. Come on. You were the first Latina artist to headline a global stadium tour. Became the highest grossing Latin tour of all time by a female artist.

Oh, I was wishing. I really had the dream at that time, but I didn't know that everything that has happened to me, it was going to happen. I didn't know, but I worked hard to get it.

Yeah. And I noticed that it's kind of the same color orange as your album cover, which is interesting. Are you going. That's, like a theme going on. Is that.

[Carol G]

But you know what? Like, it's crazy. Cause I used to love the orange when I was, like, that age, but then I turned to different colors, and then I was like, okay, for my next album, I'm gonna go back to my rules, like, all the things that I used to love. Then I choose orange. I went back to my natural color hair, and then I found those pictures. So I really.

Somewhere in the back of your mind.

[Carol G]

Yeah. I think.

I really think you love that color.

[Carol G]

I was in the right way.

Yeah. I also love. I read some article about you and your dad when you were first starting out. You would call different people to try to book you and pretend that you were a different voice and pretend that you were your own manager and try to book you at, like, gigs and stuff. Is that true?

[Carol G]

That's true. It was like we were a team, and we was just. My father and I. Yeah. And we were like, hi, we're calling from Carol G Team, and I'm her tour management.

[Jimmy Fallon]

Did you get, like. Did you change your voice different times?

[Carol G]

Yeah, we changed the voice, and we changed the names, too. And she was like, oh, okay, for the meeting, there's gonna be just them two. Well, we're gonna be here in the office. But then I used to change my voice. You know what? Like, used to do commercials. The translation for commercials for Hasbro. Like, play doh. Like Bratz and everything in Spanish. The original. The original ones.

You did that?

[Carol G]

Yeah, I used to do the voices.

Okay. Tropicoqueta is this new personality. I think I have a personality in every single album. And in this one, okay, I was on tour, and I was like, just thinking about what's next for me, what's going to be my next step. And I think I really. Being with my Latina community everywhere and all of them bringing their flags and everything, I was like, I want to be representing them all the time. I don't want to go far. I just want to go back and be like, bring a little piece of home from everyone. So I did this album that is full with our Latina music from different parts of Latin America. And I think tropicoqueta is the perfect name for that Saor flavor, magic attitude.

And Coquette is kind of flirty girl.

So maybe if Carolina can do that, maybe Ivoni is gonna do it. So I had this. I was back and forth into Ivoni and Carolina. And that song is crazy because it's a song to pave the flowers to ourselves. Because sometimes we are just thinking about all the bad things and we don't see the really great things that we go through. And we all the time, we are like How I'm gonna get it. And we do it, but we don't say nothing to us. So that song is especially for that. It's feminine energy.
