David Russell Shamszad is an author, entrepreneur, and mental health advocate whose memoir, I Am Someone You Know, chronicles his descent into untreated bipolar disorder and alcoholism and his long road back.

In his early twenties, mood swings, addiction, psychiatric hospitalizations, and incarceration unraveled what once looked like a promising life, culminating in profound loss and near surrender. With the support of loved ones and his own relentless resolve, David confronted the darkness he had kept hidden and rebuilt his life.

Today, he is a husband, father, and successful entrepreneur and founder of SG real estate, who speaks openly about mental illness, addiction, and recovery, reminding others that healing begins when truth is brought into the light.
