B
Good morning. I'm still not awake.
C
Can anyone hear me? Is this on? Can you make sure Micromart song isn't in this?
A
Is not in this. How would your chrome hearts thong be
C
in this in case my legs are open?
A
Cassidy, your legs are closed and you just want them to know that you're wearing a chrome heart song. What was your favorite part about last night? What'd you do? Oh, Cass kept trying to talk to me last night, and I said, shh, shh. I was trying to go to bed and I said, shh. Do you not remember that?
C
Oh, when we were going to sleep.
A
Yes.
C
He wanted nothing to do with me. That's how it usually goes. Seems to become a pattern in my life, but therapy has helped.
A
Oh, you're tickling my feet. Okay. Ryan just found a study. Or I guess Peyton found a study.
B
Okay.
A
And this was a meme that was actually suggested. She says study says sleepovers are good for your well being. Yes, comma. Even for adults.
C
We actually agree with that. I always wake up happier when I sleep somewhere. If I don't sleep somewhere, I wake up depressed and I, like, can't get out of bed. So I feel like it's good for your mental health.
A
Cassie, you. How many. You don't have many sleepovers a week.
C
I sleep at Peyton's weekly. Peyton can't sleep alone. But also she wakes me up with coffee every single time I sleep over.
A
It is the world's best friend.
C
Yeah, she is.
B
She wakes.
C
She wakes me up with a banana.
B
Her.
C
Or what's it called? An iced coffee. Because we have severe attachment issues.
A
What do you mean by that? Do you want to elaborate?
C
I think it's how we view men in general is like we're very attached to people who don't want us because we live for the chase, which is something we both need to work on in therapy. And I have been working on it, but it's like, I don't want a man who doesn't. What's Funny about this. What's funny about my trauma?
A
I just didn't think we'd get here.
C
Well, I'm talking to the camera. Shut up. I don't want a man who wants me back because I know that, like, if a nice guy was taking me on a date. Now, I'm sorry, I'm rambling, but if a nice guy was taking me on a date or, like, wanted me, I wouldn't want him. Because I know, like, oh, it could go somewhere so in, like, unintentionally. But, like, my subconscious goes for people who literally don't want me back or, like, can't get in a relationship because I'm not ready for a relationship.
A
And me.
C
Yeah, I do.
A
I think so, too.
C
I think it's a pattern with us three.
A
So tonight we have on Maddie Ziegler, who I love dearly.
C
Oh, my God, she's perfect.
A
Did you not know that? That's.
B
No. Oh, wait.
C
I'm really excited. She's perfect and beautiful. And she.
A
Her. She looked so beautiful.
C
She's. She is drop dead.
A
She. Drop dead.
C
She is actually drop dead.
A
Yeah.
C
She's so. Maddie, if you're hearing this, your setting.
A
Well, she's in the new movie, Pretty lethal. Maddie, I love you, Netflix. I love you, Cassidy. I love you, Peyton. And Ryan, I love you. Enjoy the episode. Hi, pussies. Welcome back to Therapist. Today or tonight? We have. I don't. Which one is it?
B
It's tonight. You really turned that on. That was amazing.
A
Really? Yeah. That was good.
B
I was like, oh, and we're on.
A
Well, we're on. And it's either tonight, today, or tomorrow. I don't. Okay, whatever. It's one of the days. And we have the iconic. Yes, yes. Actress, dancer extraordinaire, Maddie Ziegler.
B
Thank you for having me.
A
And your new movie, Pretty Lethal is out now. Where did you guys shoot? Did you shoot? Sorry, I just. Where did you shoot?
B
We shot on location in Budapest.
A
I was gonna ask what was it like?
B
I'm saying that I feel like I just say Budapest because I just.
A
It is Budapest.
B
No, I know, but people say Budapest.
A
That's like saying ibiza and ibiza 100 same.
B
Yeah.
A
We were there.
B
We shot for, like three months. It was so fun. Like, we all were just living, like, on the same floor of a hotel and just, like, living our best lives. It was such a fun time.
A
What's like, the day to day, like, in Budapest, outside of filming? Like, what. What's like, the, like, life like there?
B
Like, I mean, the architecture Is beautiful.
A
Right.
B
The food, they had amazing, like, Asian cuisine there, which I was, like, so shocked by.
A
What is it near Asia?
B
I'm homeschooled, so I can't give you.
A
No, you know what I used to think Florida was at.
B
No.
A
The top of the map.
B
Literally the last.
A
Yeah. I thought it went New York, Florida, Los Angeles.
B
That's okay. There was amazing, like, just like, Thai food and stuff. 100.
A
Oh, yeah.
B
But honestly, I was so tired, like, because we were working all day every day, but, like. And, like, doing full stunt.
A
Right.
B
And dance work all day in point shoes. So we did go to some, like, fun, random Hungarian bars, which was fun.
A
And you were there for three months.
B
Yeah.
A
Because you've been in a lot of movies. But was this time. Was this time one of your first times being, like, first on the call sheet?
B
It's a newer thing for me.
A
Yeah.
B
This was like, maybe this third time I was number one.
A
Okay.
B
But it felt I was kind of like, oh, I'm just number one. They hadn't, at that point, like, cast who Uma's character was going to be. So I was like, once she comes, I'll get knocked to number two. But I still.
A
Still know.
B
It was crazy. I still stayed number one, which was crazy.
A
And what, like, how do you. As first on the call, she, like, do you, like, actively think about, like, like, oh, I have a responsibility to create, like, this type of environment or do you just kind of, like, let it flow?
B
I think it has to be a mixture of both because if you overthink it, then it's just going to be too much. But I definitely think you have a responsibility as number one. You, like, have to set the tone for the environment and, like, everyone will move accordingly. You know, I'm like, be gracious to everyone. Be kind to everyone. It was interesting, too, because, like, not everyone spoke English when we were there.
A
Oh, like the crew. Yeah.
B
Because there was a lot. Mainly Hungarian crew. And so it was fun to, like, pick, like, kind of, like, mash our worlds together and pick up on new things and new terms and, like. Yeah. But it definitely. I was like, I have to set the tone. And also, like, it's funny because I think I've said this before, but, like, they were people. When we got there, they were like, we didn't know if you five girls would get along. Like, we honestly thought it would be like, a show. And I'm like, what?
A
Like. And you all got along great. And it was all.
B
We were best friends.
A
Oh, that's awesome.
B
The stereotype of, like, put five girls in a room, they're gonna hate each other and like, cat fight. I'm like, no, right. We.
A
Right.
B
We were sister. Like, yeah. It was a very beautiful bond that we had.
A
Do you have any, like, really funny memories? Or is it like, you had to be there.
B
You had to be there because we do a sequel. We'll get you in.
A
Thanks. I'll be the male ballerina. But I've tried, like, explaining certain things that are like, so funny. I'm like, oh, you really just had to be there.
B
I know. And it's so awkward when you're telling it and you're laughing and the other person's like, listening, like, oh, my God. Yeah, that's so funny.
A
Do you have one that came to mind? I won't look at you while you tell if you're scared that I won't laugh.
B
Okay, well, this isn't a funny memory.
A
It's a memory, but this is like
B
a moment that I'll never forget. It's like, well, Uma loved to knit in between every take. Like, she was making this beautiful sweater the whole time we were shooting. And she gave us all knitting kits as like our wrap gift, which was really sweet.
A
I love when people that are so extraordinary have such. Not small because knitting is not small. But like, the knitting community is like up in arms. But like, like have such kind of like very normal hobbies.
B
Yeah.
A
Do you know what I mean?
B
For sure? It's like, I think she was just like, you have to find, like the. I'm sure you like through working and. And filming, you probably feel this too. Like, how do I find the calm amongst the storm?
A
Because I feel like I'm learning.
B
It's hard. It's really hard. And like, you have to like, self soothe. And that's like a very, like, self soothing thing.
A
How do you self soothe?
B
Self soothe? I. Well, I'm still learning, but I. If you notice, I. I won't do it now, but I'm normally twisting my hair 24 7. It's like a thing that everyone calls out. Like, I'm constantly playing with my hair and I've done it since I was my mom's. Like when I used to like, get you from your crib when you're a baby, your hair would be like, suffocate, like, wrapped around your finger. So I've just. It's been a thing forever.
A
Did you like, actively choose to stop doing that? Was it like, oh, I haven't stopped. Oh, you still do it.
B
Yeah, I still do it.
A
I mean, if that's what works for you, that works for you. At least you're not, like, it's better than, like, pills.
B
Oh, for sure.
A
You know, like. Yeah, but we were talking before and you said you've known taste. You were nine years old.
B
Yeah.
A
Do you guys just pass each other in dance competitions?
B
Yeah, we used to compete against each other. And she was like. She beat me at, like, our big award show. It was, like, the biggest thing you can win called the Dance Awards, and she won. And I've, like, never been, like, I was such a fan of her. Normally when I was younger, I was, like, a sore loser. Like, if I didn't win, I was, like, really upset.
A
Well, how could you not be at that age?
B
Yeah. And that's what I was taught, you know?
A
So, like.
B
But she. I was just so inspired by her and I loved her. And then there was a dancing with us. Sorry. So you think you can dance juniors?
A
Yes.
B
I remember I was a judge on that and I judged her. She was one of the contestants. So we, like. It was so weird.
A
Is that how you guys became friends or.
B
Well, technically, we weren't really allowed to be friends because it's like, you can't talk to the judge because then I'm like, oh, really?
A
They're, like, strict about that.
B
Yeah. So we had to wait until after we wrapped, and then you. And then we, like, were friends, and then we just, like, knew each other. But I feel like when I was around 16, 17, we got close again and started, like, hanging out in la. And I love her so much and she's killing it.
A
Awesome. She's the best.
B
She's literally the best.
A
Yeah. It's so funny, like, all these. It's funny, like, sometimes I guess you can feel like what's happening in your world is, like, the biggest thing on planet Earth, but there are all these different communities. Like, there's the cheer community, there's the dance community, there's the book community, there's, like, all. All these different, like, lanes and all these different worlds that. And that you don't even know about.
B
I know.
A
And was it, like, stressful to be a part of the dance world, or did you, like, love and do you look back at it with, like, gratitude and graciousness?
B
I love the dance world so much, and I still feel very, like, welcomed by it. It's cool because, like, this film has brought me back into the world in so many ways, but, I mean, there's obviously, like, so much trauma and every Dancer experiences that whether you're like, you go down the path I did, which is not conventional or not, you know, like, you have that sort of, like, there's just a lot that goes on in the dance world. It's very toxic in a lot of ways, but it's also like, my favorite community.
A
Yeah.
B
And the dance world is so small. I feel like all our industries are just so small and everyone knows everyone.
A
They feel so loud.
B
Yeah.
A
But, like, so big.
B
For sure. But, like, Tate, for instance, is like, it's so cool to see where we both started and to see where she is now, and we're just doing our thing, and it's so cool to support each other. And I'm just, like, grateful that we have that comfortability of, like, kind of, like, supporting one another. So.
A
Yeah, it's also cool. It's like you've merged your dance career with acting now to pursue acting, and she's merged dancing with singing to pursue singing. It's very cool to see all, like, you guys intersect these, like, different communities and, like, bring what you've learned into one into the other, 100%.
B
And Addison, too, is, like, a. Yeah.
A
Great example.
B
She's one of my best friends and I like, like, I'm so proud of her too. And she's just absolutely killing it.
A
Was she in, like, the dance world as a kid as well? Yeah. Really?
B
Yeah, she was. It's so funny. She, when she first got to la, when she, like, blew up on Tick Tock, she was staying at my house. She was friends with my sister. And, like, no way. I would, like, they would have sleepovers. I, like, pierced her ear. I think before I even was friends with her, I took her to, like, a workout with my sister. And then years later, now we're, like, friends.
A
Yeah.
B
And she's just like, she's perfect.
A
And the album's just outstanding.
B
It was my favorite album last year.
A
So good. It's so good. I wish I was, like, in a, like a. I, I, I want to, I want that to be like my summer anthem. That album.
B
It is also. Do you hike?
A
No. I'm, like, the most unenthusia. I hate hiking more than, like.
B
Okay, well, never mind.
A
But what were you going to say?
B
All I was going to say is that if you do hike and you're losing motivation, put that on and you will run so fast.
A
I see that for that album.
B
I like, when I need some motivation, I'm like, I need to get up this hill.
A
Like, yeah.
B
And like, high fashion. All those songs like, get me going.
A
Yeah, that would get me going. For me, that's like, Ari. I'll put on like, Ari and, like, really get it going. What are you listening to right now? Cuz we just talked about Addison's album, but what are you listening?
B
Obviously, at Addison on repeat. But also, I'm back on my anti Rihanna kick
A
because it's 2016 again, and
B
that's what started it. She was like, I won 2016 when that was popular, you know, like, she posted that and was like.
A
She said I won.
B
She was like, I win.
A
She does win. She does win.
B
Literally, it's no skips. That's how I feel about Addison's album. No skips, but, like, Rihanna's album. That. I mean, it's one of the greatest pieces of art, like, ever. And I will never stop listen. It never gets old. I'm like, how has it been 10 years? Also me listening to it 10 years ago. Like, I'm 13 and I was like, listening to, like. But yeah, I'm back on that. What are you listening to?
A
I am listening right now. I'm like, in my.
B
I.
A
Do you listen to Casey Musgraves?
B
No, I don't.
A
Country at all. Okay. No, no. So here's the thing. Casey is the one to get you into country.
B
Okay.
A
And that's what everybody says.
B
Okay.
A
Because her album, basically, I've been going back to her album golden Hour.
B
Okay. Yes, I know that.
A
Oh, my God. It Basically, there's this Pitchfork. You know Pitchfork. There's this review of it, and they basically say, like, she talks about the world as if she's the first and only one to ever experience it.
B
Oh, my God.
A
So no, it's so, like, it. Like, talk about Skipless. It really is just like. Like, for me, it covers, like, every emotion I could go through, like, while falling in love with, like, platonically or romantically or just, like, experiencing the world and, like, becoming myself. And, like, I just think, yeah, it's. It's a really good album.
B
So I should start with Golden.
A
Start with Golden Hour. What? I remember finding her when I was in seventh grade because she, like, came out with a song called Follow your arrow, and I just thought it was, like, really cool.
B
She's also stunning.
A
Drop dead. And there's this other song called Merry go round, and I thought her, like, wordplay on it was really cool. Okay, but start with Golden Hour.
B
Okay, I'll get into that. I trust. I trust your opinion.
A
Yeah. Start with Golden Hour. Really? Like, it's. What do you think, Louise?
B
I'm obsessed with this album. If I could recommend one, it would be Slow Burn. Slow Burn.
A
Oh, yeah.
B
Okay.
A
Basically, she's like, her being like. It's funny because Slow Burn opens the album with being like, I can play it chill as a lover. Like, I'm fine with a slow burn. But then you hear her in other songs, be like, I am bugging the out. Right?
B
Yeah.
A
It's like, super cool.
B
Okay. Yeah, I'll get into it.
A
Go. Go for golden hour.
B
Okay.
A
Maybe I'll revisit. And is it anti or anti? I antique.
B
I never know. That's why I kind of say it quietly.
A
Yeah.
B
Like, you know, I'm going to revisit 2016.
A
Rihanna. Yeah, I'm going to, for sure. Oh, God.
B
It's going to put you in. Like, I was listening to in the shower the other day, and I was like, I feel so sexy right now.
A
I know. It makes me feel. I want a cigarette. I want to go out. Like, that's what that makes me. But I'm putting myself out of commission from going out for, like, at least three weeks.
B
I'm a homebody, so I can't relate.
A
Are you an actual homebody?
B
Yeah.
A
Why?
B
I will get out if I need to, but it's like, if I have the option, I am not leaving my house.
A
What do you do when you stay at home?
B
Watch movies, TV shows, Hang out with my dog.
A
What are you watching right now?
B
Oh, I also have to talk to you about something.
A
What?
B
I have to give you the biggest thank you ever because you are the reason I watch Scandal.
A
The Bachelor of all time. I know the Bachelor of all time. Did you finish?
B
Yeah.
A
Pinnacle Television on season number two is the. One of the.
B
Season two is the best thing ever. I also, like, I'm just so grateful for you for that experience because it was. It was.
A
You got to have the experience of Scandal. It's literally like.
B
No, it's crazy.
A
I just find it to be like, I've rewatched it now, I think, like, three times. And I just love a show that so much happens that you're like, how did this much happen within the span of one episode? And then you forget what happened. So you. You can re.
B
Watch it.
A
Yes.
B
100.
A
What are some of your other favorite shows?
B
Well, like, I love Breaking Bad.
A
Oh, so good.
B
I love how to Get Away with Murder, too.
A
Okay. I haven't done it. That's what I'm doing. Thank you.
B
Have to do it.
A
You just prescribed me what I needed to do.
B
Oh, my God.
A
I'm so glad I'm doing How to Get Away with Murder.
B
You have to watch.
A
Is it really that good?
B
It's incredible. It's incredible. It is amazing. The crossover episode. When I think I've seen the crossover episode, they have a crossover and then. Yes.
A
I haven't seen the how to Get Away with Murder one, but I've seen the Scandal one also.
B
Viola Davis is literally my everything. Yeah.
A
She's a vision.
B
I'm obsessed.
A
Okay, so I'll watch How to Get Away with Murder.
B
You have to watch it.
A
I'm excited. Oh, okay.
B
It's good. It's like, that world is just so good. The Shondaland.
A
Do you watch Bridgerton?
B
That's the one I haven't watched yet.
A
I haven't done it yet either. My best friend Julia.
B
Okay.
A
That is her. Like, she loves it.
B
Okay. Isn't there, like, four seasons out?
A
Yeah. So basically, it's like Gossip Girl of gossip. The way it was described to me and sold to me was as was that it was like Gossip Girl if Gossip Girl was in the 1800s.
B
Okay. I can get down with that.
A
That's what I said, too.
B
But I. I struggle, okay?
A
I struggle with, like. Have you ever been in a period piece? I'm so sorry if you haven't.
B
I. Well, like, west side Story, I guess, is. Yeah.
A
To me, that doesn't necessarily count. I'm talking 17, 1800s.
B
No, no, no, no.
A
Okay.
B
I want to, though.
A
You do?
B
Yeah, I do.
A
Do you like period pieces?
B
I just want to get into, like, the whole fantasy of, like, the wardrobe and the hair and makeup, but, like, hot. Not, like, not. Not that.
A
I mean, it's hard to be sexy when there's no deodorant and showers and so, like.
B
Yeah, but, like, their corsets and everything are.
A
Yeah, that's Bridgerton.
B
Yeah. Okay.
A
So I've heard.
B
Okay.
A
And they'll play, like, thank you. Next on violin.
B
No, they won't.
A
Yes.
B
No, they will.
A
They do. Yes, they do. I literally looked at Julia said. Because I knew they did. Thank you, guys. But then she told me they did Yukon, and I said, no, no, that is not okay. Yukon on the violin.
B
Oh, my gosh. That's so funny.
A
I need to see it just now.
B
I'm like, I have to. 100.
A
Are you an Iris? Close.
B
Yeah.
A
I adore her.
B
I love Iris. I've known her since I was, like, 12, too.
A
Really?
B
Yeah.
A
How long have you lived in LA?
B
For like, 12 years.
A
Was it a difficult move?
B
No, because I had already been Coming here for work all the time. And then I. Yeah, I just, like, we got a house and it was fun. It was like I wanted to be here. I needed to get out of Pittsburgh.
A
Yeah.
B
Like, what.
A
Are you a Steelers fan though, still? Or were you ever?
B
I'm not really. Like, I don't really understand sports, so
A
I understand two things about sports.
B
Okay.
A
If you're from Philly, you love the Eagles.
B
Yeah.
A
Love the Eagles.
B
Okay. Are you from Philly?
A
No, but my manager is.
B
Okay.
A
And he's like, I can't speak to him on Sundays if the Eagles lose. It's about.
B
Okay. He's like, really, like, he's like type of person.
A
Go Birds.
B
You are literally.
A
Go Birds.
B
Go Birds. Go Steelers.
A
I mean, they just take it real seriously.
B
Like, I mean, I feel like that's. Anyone who's just dedicated to their team.
A
If I had a team do as well as the Eagles do every year,
B
I'd be just as they do. So.
A
Well, they win all the time every year.
B
Well, I. Go Birds.
A
Yeah. Yeah.
B
Well, go Steelers.
A
Right.
B
And the one sport my brothers grew played hockey growing up. So, like, I guess I. You could say I'm a Penguins fan, which is like our home team in Pittsburgh.
A
Oh, I didn't even know. I'm so not well versed in the hockey world Team. I know, I know the Rangers. I know the Devils.
B
Couldn't tell you where that. Where they are.
A
Devils are New Jersey.
B
Okay.
A
Rangers are New York.
B
Okay. Are you, where are you from?
A
New York.
B
Okay.
A
By is Pennsylvania. Tri State.
B
We're, we're, we're like an hour, like, it's close by. 45 minute flight.
A
Right.
B
Like, I used to grow up going to New York all the time for Broadway auditions. My mom was out of school and we do a six hour road trip to Broadway auditions. Yeah.
A
And did you. Was it hard hearing. No. At such a young age? All the time. From auditions, for sure.
B
When I was about like 6, or maybe I was like 7, turning 8, I got Billy Elliot, which is like.
A
And this was before you had done.
B
And then I had literally already signed my contract to go on to the reality show, so I didn't do it. Which in hindsight, like, I'm actually so grateful because I'm like, I don't want to, like, I. Wow. Like, my life wouldn't have ended up where it is now. And I love Broadway so much, but I'm also. I can't sing, so, like, it wouldn't have worked out. I would love to do theater.
A
Yeah. I just Did. I just did.
B
How was that? I'm so sad. I wanted to see.
A
Was awesome. It was like, honestly one of the best experiences of my entire life. And I didn't know it was coming because sometimes like the best experiences like that you don't know that they're coming.
B
100.
A
I had no idea it was coming.
B
Was it hard? Were you like nervous to memorize and do that whole thing?
A
So it wasn't memorization. It was very much like an SNL sketch. So we had a teleprompter and then we got to improvise. So it was really fun.
B
So amazing.
A
It was. Thank you. I mean Louise saw it like how many times?
B
Eight times.
A
Eight times? Yeah. And three in a three week span. She saw it for a week straight. He's on the plate for a week.
B
I love that. Was it different every night? Like.
A
No. There was. We added our own thing. It was very fun. I love being on stage. I think that's where I. I think I shine. I think I prefer to be on there. But like you said, it's like, it's so. It's so weird to think back on a decision you made that could have. That maybe.
B
Yeah.
A
You in time. At points in your life you're like, I wish I did that instead of said yes to this because I wouldn't be feeling this way right now. But then we also. If we didn't make the decisions we both made we wouldn't be sitting in this room talking to each other.
B
100.
A
You know what I mean?
B
100. That's like me when I was like four, I broke my arm and I was gonna stop dance for a second potentially to try horseback riding. And I broke my arm right before my lesson. So I never.
A
Crazy. Are you religious?
B
I believe in a higher power power. And I totally think that there is a path for me. Like, I think that I'm just on the path that I'm supposed to be on.
A
You are. And you have to tell yourself that everything happens for a reason.
B
No. I have to. I literally, like, I manipulate myself all the time.
A
What do you mean?
B
Into doing that. Because.
A
Oh yeah.
B
When things aren't working out I'm like, it's happening for a reason. Because. Or else I'll literally. I don't know what I'll do with myself. Like last year I did not work at all. Basically. Like, I did like little jobs or. No, like it was. I had a bad year emotionally. So that. And for some reason like professionally my year just like, I didn't do anything. I didn't film anything last year, and things I was supposed to film kept getting pushed, and I was like, okay, this is just not my year. But I am a horse girl at heart, and it is Year of the Horse. It is.
A
You're the horse.
B
I'm so excited. I'm shedding the layers of the. I don't even, like, really believe in that stuff or. Not that I don't believe in it. I don't, like, subscribe to it, really. Like, I don't really, like, follow it. But when I found out I was a Year of the Horse, I was
A
like, yeah, that's why you get yourself back up, though.
B
My thing is, like, I have had one goal in my life, and I've never been like, I don't think I can do it anymore. Even when it's been, like, the hardest for me, really, I have. I have no other option in my brain. Like, this is it.
A
Wow. Do you have someone that you talk to in your life when you're really, like, going through it?
B
Yeah, I do need to, like, talk to my therapist again. It's been.
A
I have a new one. I just got a new one, literally, as of today.
B
Oh, amazing.
A
Divine timing.
B
That's beautiful.
A
And I felt it leaving. Great. So it was. It was.
B
You already did therapy?
A
Yeah, I did it at, like, literally. And I was gonna cancel. I wanted to just. I was like. I was like, oh, I'm good. I'm so happy I did it.
B
That's the thing. It's always the, like, working up the courage to do it beforehand. I'm always like, I don't want to do this. I want to cancel. And then afterwards, I'm like, I am a new person.
A
My thing is, is I was doing the wrong therapy for so long. I was doing talk therapy, which is normal and helpful for a lot of people, but I have really bad ocd, so I, like, obsess over thingies. Like, I have, like, confessional OCD where I have to, like, tell you everything I think. Like, for example, when I'm on the phone with a therapist and I check a text, I'll have to say, I just checked my text, by the way, or else I'll get bad luck. Like, shit like that. I know. And she. But I didn't know that that's what it was.
B
Yeah.
A
I would tell my old therapist that all the time. I'd be like, sorry, I just checked my text. And she would laugh. And then this therapist was like, oh, you have confessional ocd. And then wrote it down. Oh, my God. Yeah, we'll work on that.
B
That's incredible.
A
I was like, oh, I didn't even know that.
B
It really is like dating, like, finding your therapist. You have to go, like.
A
And I just. I'm ending my relationship today with my old one. But I think she'll take it well.
B
She'll be fine. You already cheated on her.
A
Yeah, I know. I already fudgeing cheated. I've been avoiding her for months. I've had two schedule.
B
This is.
A
I know, I know. I've been avoiding her for months. She's so lovely and so great.
B
But like, you're like, you didn't even
A
like, I need help. I need like scientific help.
B
I need like her laughing and just
A
like, well, she's like, oh, you got it. You know, like. And I was like, no. But like, I actually, like, mentally I don't got it. I don't think I do.
B
I'm really happy for you.
A
Thank you.
B
Necessary. You have so much that you're doing and you're so busy. Like, it's very important for you to be like, taking care of yourself first and foremost.
A
Thank you. Thank you. How do you take care of yourself?
B
I do a lot of body work and like, I do a lot of self care. Like I'm doing like. Do you know what gyro is? Like gyrotonics. It's like sort of like a form of Pilates kind of movement sort of stuff. I do that like twice a week.
A
So you do lymphatics, you do bodywork?
B
I do the whole thing. Like, I'm kind of obsessed with it, I think. I think I just like. Not that I've never not taken care of my body, but I think my body has been like my main source of how I a thousand percent work through everything. And so I feel like I've neglected it without even realizing. It's like a subconscious thing.
A
How do you mean? Like, you mean like your body almost became your work 100 like, you know what I mean? Like, you, your body and your body's wellness, like, became equivalent to how you worked.
B
Yeah.
A
And like your professional career. So then it's like, you can. Yeah, I see what you mean.
B
Yeah. And if like my body was declining, I was just kind of like, but my body always takes care of me. It's fine. I'll be fine. Wow. Whereas now I'm like, no, let me like actually address it. And I didn't really notice it until like I would go on tour when I was younger and do a split and go on stage. Like, not even warm up. Not even take care of my body. Like, I was just naturally always flexible and whatever. And when you're young, like, you don't feel the thing. I'm so young. But, like, now. But when I stopped dancing because every injury I ever had came up, and I was like, whoa. Like, my body was just, like, screaming at me. So I was like, okay, I actually need to, like, pay attention to.
A
When did you just decide to stop dancing?
B
Well, it's. It wasn't permanent. It was just, like, for the time being because I had an injury, and then every injury came up. But I was like. I want to say it was during COVID Wow. Yeah.
A
And you were like, I just need to be.
B
I just need to take a second. And then I. Acting really, like.
A
Yeah, well, you were in my old ass as well, which I love. Yeah.
B
I just. Acting kind of took over. And then I was also battling that whole thing of, like, I have to only do jobs in acting that are not related to dance because I'm only going to be hired as a. Like, they're only going to hire me if it's, like, a dancer role, and then I'm going to be typecast as that, and then people are going to not take me seriously. It was, like, a whole battle of that. So I had to really, like, I needed to prove myself as an actor to be like, I can do this on my own without having the dance thing a part of it.
A
Right.
B
But then it had been enough time, and then, like, pretty lethal came into my lap, and I was like, 1,000% yes.
A
Did people on set come to you for advice about dancing? Like. Like, did everyone have to go through, like, training and stuff and, like, what was that like?
B
Yeah, me and Lana. Do you know Lana Condor?
A
I. I know of her.
B
Yeah.
A
She's fabulous.
B
She. You would be obsessed with her. She's one of my favorite people in the world.
A
Her comedic timing's amazing.
B
Perfection.
A
Yeah, she's awesome.
B
I cannot say enough nice things, which
A
is funny because you play enemies in the movie.
B
We do. We do. But it's also like, you punch her in the face.
A
Punches her in the face.
B
I really.
A
In the first 10 minutes, bonk.
B
Did you watch it?
A
Yes. Last night, period. I got a screener.
B
Thanks. It's very camp.
A
It's amazing. It's so camp. It's so amazing. I loved it. I had such a fun time watching.
B
Thank you. It was really spectacular. Thank you so much. It played really well at South By. Like, it was, like, a very interactive experience. Like, everyone was laughing and screaming. Yeah, yeah, it was cool. It actually came out way more camp than I even thought it would be in the best way. Like, it's just fun and tongue in cheek and, like. Yeah, but Lana is fun. Lana had danced. She had done ballet until she was, like, 18 and then quit.
A
Wow.
B
Which I didn't even know that prior to, like, working with her. So we had training and experience. And so, yeah, we trained for, like, months. A few months, like, on our own. Me and Avantika actually trained together in la, and then we did, like, four weeks of ballet boot camp when we got to Budapest, where we do, like,
A
ballet boot camp in Budapest is crazy. It's crazy. Ballet Budapest. Did a Buddha. Did a someone from like, I did a local team teach you?
B
No,
A
I was like, what the. Did you just go through?
B
Oh, my God, that is so funny. That would be funnier, though, if we, like, just got, like, randomly talked by. Just, like.
A
So you did three months of, like, Budapest?
B
Three months. Just, like, three weeks.
A
Okay, got it, got it, got it.
B
But it was really fun. We had, like, an amazing. Like, we had people from the Royal Ballet who came in to, like, teach us ballet, and we worked with. We had, like, ballet doubles and stunt doubles, and it was a whole fun experience. So we did, like, ballet for, like, four hours in the morning, and then, like, five hours would be stunt after. And we do that every day for, like, three weeks.
A
And it was you exhausted?
B
I was thriving.
A
Oh, did you feel, like, back in your element?
B
Toxic like that.
A
But did you feel like back in your element?
B
100%. I mean, I was exhausted, but I also was like, I live for this, like, getting sore and, like, yeah, my body kind of giving out. I was like, I love it. It just brought me back to my dance training, and I'm just kind of a psycho when it comes to that, because I was like, I want to do everything I can, you know? Like, I want to do as much dancing. I did almost all of my dancing and almost all of my stunt stuff. Like, I was like, I want to do it all. I couldn't jump out of a building while it lit on fire. But, like, you know.
A
Did you get to see your stunt double do that?
B
Yeah, it was crazy. I have, like, the video on my phone.
A
It's.
B
It's ridiculous.
A
That's so insane.
B
I know. It's crazy. They're amazing.
A
And they legitimately lit the building on fire.
B
Yeah. And they jumped out onto cardboard boxes. They landed on cardboard boxes.
A
Is that, like, a one take type of Thing.
B
Yeah, one.
A
Because then the building burns.
B
It didn't burn, but. Oh, that's a good point.
A
Did they get it in one?
B
It was there. The building was still standing. Okay, great, great, great. It was just a quick, like, pyro, like.
A
Well, the movie's fantastic. I'm so happy for you.
B
Thank you.
A
I feel like I'm so happy for you.
B
I. Like, I've been such a fan of you for so long and I've watched like, every episode of the show.
A
Oh, well, I have been watching you forever. Oh, my. My best friend Julia tried to fly out for this.
B
No, she didn't.
A
Yes, she.
B
Is she in where? She.
A
She's in New York.
B
Oh, let's hang out with her.
A
She. Cuz. You know.
B
Wait, why does she like.
A
You are her North Star.
B
What?
A
She was a dancer.
B
Oh, okay.
A
And she was like, you're her North Star. Like, she was like, maddie Ziegler is my North Star.
B
Really?
A
Yes.
B
So sweet.
A
She was like, I'm gonna fly out. She couldn't cuz of work, but she was like, oh, she's gonna ship shipwrecks.
B
Really?
A
Wait, give me. Give me my phone.
B
There's way cooler people in the world.
A
Watch her reaction. She says, I don't even. I don't even think she knows you're here. Hi. I have a question.
B
Yeah. Hey.
A
Oh, no, no, no, no, no.
B
We're hanging out. We're gonna hang out in New York. No, Maddie, this isn't funny. Seriously, I don't. My Roman Empire. Stop it.
A
I told her.
C
You don't understand.
B
Like, you are like the figure of my life. This is not fun. I. You have made my entire life.
A
I just says, oh, Julia's one line about it, about you is you can't take your eyes off of her. Stop.
B
Stop. I'm literally so obsessed with you. This is literally not funny. Wait, we're going to go to dinner in New York. I'm going to New York tonight.
A
She's coming.
B
Can I please come? Seriously? No, we're going together.
A
Yes. We're going to make plans for this weekend. Hi, I'm.
B
This is making me feel so special. Thank you.
A
I told you.
B
I can't even believe it.
A
You know, she used to have us for past time, when Julia was bored, she would have us sit down and put on your like, LA Playhouse videos and just look at us and say, you. You can't take your eyes off of her, can you? Huh?
B
I'm so obsessed with you.
C
You're literally the best dancer I've ever
B
Seen in my life. Stop it. Stop it. Let me know where dinner is, and I will be there. I'm so excited. You have made my entire day. Thank you so much. No, I. I believe, like, I. I believe that.
A
Underselling it.
B
And I'm sorry if you think I'm a freak.
C
Like, I actually.
B
I do not think you're a freak. Bring back. People actually, like, complimenting, like, are being like.
A
I agree.
B
I hate when people are, like, pretend like they don't know other people. I'm like, I'm. I will be the first person to go up and be like, I'm a fan of you.
A
Yes. I mean, that's what. That's my stick.
B
That's literally my stick that makes people feel special.
A
Like, you.
B
That's really.
A
You are her north.
B
That just, like, made my day, though.
A
Really?
B
Yeah.
A
By the way, a lot of people have been to this house. Julia has never reacted that way.
B
That's crazy.
A
She's not even here, so. Yeah.
B
That's really nice. I love that. Yeah. Let's do it.
A
Okay. So, Maddie, what are you therapist about today? It can really be the most benign thing. It really, like, I'm mad that it's so fudgeing hot in here.
B
That's why I laughed, because that's what I was going to say, and I was like, I can't really say that.
A
It's kind of just as you can. I'm so mad about it. How we've been dealing with this for almost three years now. It is. How was it like?
B
Oh, it's always hot.
A
Is there, like, a island?
B
It's a heat wave.
A
The room isn't getting cold, and I'm a cold sleeper.
B
I. What do you sleep at?
A
62. Do you really? All my life.
B
62.
A
Wow. I've never met another 62.
B
Er. Yeah.
A
Oh, my God. No, I'm not even kidding. Louise. Louise sleeps at, like, 80.
B
First of all, you would. You would die.
A
70. I would have a panic attack.
B
Oh, for sure.
A
I would have a legitimate panic attack.
B
If I'm. Yeah, I. I just. It's 62 or nothing.
A
Not to sound out of touch, but the hotel life, like, really took a toll on me mentally.
B
For sure. I think. I mean, for something funny, I think for me, I feel like it's definitely. I like to create, like, the best environment for my home. Like, I. You know, like, I'm. So. That's why I love being home, because my home is my favorite place in the world because I've made it like my sanctuary. So, like, not being in your space with all of your things and, like, just access to the things that matter the most to you. Like, that does take a toll on you.
A
I don't know what. Why my OCD had something to do with it because, like I said, I wasn't in the right therapy. But I know that my OCD does have something to do with the fact that I have a hard time organizing and keeping things organized. And, like, living out of a suitcase is hard for anyone. But I know specifically for me, there is something that was there. And I'm going to. I'm gonna ask my new therapist about it.
B
You should. I'm a neat freak. I'm.
A
Are you really? I'm so jealous of you.
B
My house is spotless. Everything is organized. Every. If you ever need help, like, I literally offer myself to people to be like, if you need help organizing, like, I will come over and do it. It's like my favorite thing to do in the world.
A
Be careful what you put out there because I will take you up. And I'm the great, least organized person on the planet.
B
Oh.
A
Because I'm a hoarder. I take. I think everything is so sentimental and I want to save everything.
B
That's how my sister is. She's a hoarder.
A
My grandma is the same ways me insane. Yeah. But.
B
But if you're happy and comfortable. Oh.
A
So.
B
Well, then I don't know.
A
Yeah, I gotta figure it out. Nope. Therapy. And we're starting and we're new.
B
We love her.
A
I love her. I forget her name. And that's a. By the way, that's a great sign.
B
Well, you still haven't cut things off fully with your other.
A
No. I'm gonna send her a text and I feel comfortable saying, like, I needed someone that specialized in, like, OCD specific stuff.
B
100.
A
Because it is just.
B
It's rough.
A
It's. It's. It's rough in my head. Dude, are you, like, a fan of the Inside out movies?
B
Yes. The second movie. It changed my life. I. I couldn't believe how much I sobbed during that movie. I've never felt so seen in my life.
A
All I thought about was like, I'm so jealous that, like, these kids get to be like, oh, my God, that's so normal that I feel that way.
B
1,000. You know what I mean?
A
Like, that's so normal. Riley has it. Riley.
B
No, it is the best movie. And. And I think. Do they teach it or do they play it in schools? Because I totally. I think they will if they don't absolutely have to. The way they described the panic attack and, like, when the new set. When you hit teenager and when you hit teenager, when you become a teenager, it's just.
A
Okay. So when you put it simply.
B
Yeah.
A
And, like, you're like, oh, anxiety really is like, they are just trying to help. And, like, you're like, okay. Like, you shouldn't hate it. You should, like, welcome it.
B
I know. That's the hardest thing.
A
Pixar really just eats down, like, oh, they do who is running Pixar and they pick the best project.
B
They really do. You should, like, voiceover something.
A
Oh, God, I don't know. I think my voice has been heard by enough folk for.
B
No, I love your voice.
A
Do you really?
B
Yeah. You have a really fun speaking pattern. Thinking.
A
Thank you. Listening back to, like, my own voice on a weekly basis to edit my show.
B
Oh, I'm sure you hate the most
A
insufferable thing on planet Earth, Nolan. Godspeed to you. I mean, I don't know.
B
Well, actually, quite a lot of people like their voice, but I'm like. I just feel like that's, like, a red flag if you like your voice. Yeah, that's weird. I think it's more.
A
I've never met anyone that's like, I love the sound of my own voice.
B
And there definitely are people in the world that like.
A
Yes. I mean. I mean, and good for them, but I don't know if that's someone I'd want to surround myself with.
B
No.
A
Would you? Do you like the sound of your own voice?
B
No, but it's so funny.
A
Okay. Nolan, do you like the sound of your own voice? I don't. I don't like my laugh, but I
B
don't think about it.
A
No. What were you gonna say? It's so funny. You say that.
B
I was at Sephora yesterday checking out, and the girl was like, oh, my God, I'm obsessed with your voice. Oh, that's the best compliment, though. I did. I have had someone tell me that they love my voice.
A
I love your voice.
B
Voiceovers. And I'm like, I have done voiceovers. My voice is so, like.
A
No, you have a very, like, cunty voice.
B
Oh. Period.
A
Like, it's. You know what I mean?
B
Totally giving.
A
Like, I dig off. See, we're our own biggest critic.
B
Oh, for sure. I'm, like, so mean to myself.
A
Same. I have the worst negative self talk.
B
Yeah. I was like social media, like, it was actually rotting me in a really crazy way and giving me so much anxiety.
A
God. I'm still not. Because it's my job.
B
I know.
A
And I do love it.
B
I know.
A
And I never want.
B
You're so good.
A
And I love connecting with people on it 100%. And like, when that feeling of making people laugh and like, be people being like, I just. Lol.
B
It's infectious.
A
It's addicting. Or being like you. You just made me laugh so hard. Like, I love, like creating a community, but when it gets bad, it's horrible.
B
100%, it's horrible. But you can dictate that, you know, like you. There's just. There's really positive places of the Internet. I think it's just like trying to like. It's hard when we're being fed so much negative talk. But your videos are like. That's the one thing I miss from Tick Tock is your videos.
A
Oh, thanks. I don't do the skits anymore, so you're not missing out.
C
Oh, really?
B
Yeah, I. They're so good.
A
No, thank you.
B
The Mona Lisa one, which will forever go down. Which one?
A
The vaping. Where I'm vaping.
B
No, it's the one where something about Mona Lisa, like, check. Like the. I don't know if it was.
A
Was it the crowd control one where
B
the one where you're talking about, like getting the photo or checking the photo. I don't know if it was like, oh, and he's like, can I pick select? Yes, yes.
A
I said that.
B
That one actually, like, I would watch that and reference that also. I'm sorry to bring this up, but this morning my makeup artist and best friend Tanya, she was. She hasn't really seen your show. And I was like, let me just like, play you a funny clip. And I just immediately went to the edge.
A
Oh, my God. No, that's.
B
And she was dying.
A
That's the best one.
B
Iconic.
A
That's the best one.
B
She was like, I'm never. She didn't know that about, obviously, that he wrote that for that reason. Like. And he was. She was like, I will never look at that song, say, well, who will play?
C
He.
A
He. He set you up. He set me up. He said the most memeable lyric is the one about my dead grandma saying, memeable lyric.
B
Of course you're going to laugh. That's funny.
A
Yeah, I know. Because I was thinking about all the really funny memes about it. Like, you've all seen.
B
We've all seen them.
A
Okay, I'm going to go pee really quickly before we get to the. Tell me what's wrong. You know, do you know what those are?
B
Obviously
A

B
Thank you. Yeah. I learned a lot from it and it taught me a lot of patience and I'm just trying to like move forward and. And continue.
A
Patience is a hard thing to learn.
B
It's the hardest thing in the world.
A
I have not mastered it. I have not learned.
B
I mean, same.
A
I'm on beginners.
B
Yeah, same. Well, I'm like, I'm like intermediate level now.
A
How do you. What, like, is there a practice you use to like find patience?
B
Honestly, just like I try to, not in a unhealthy way, distract myself, but like put my energy into other things.
A
That's. Yeah, that's. I think that's what she always encourages me to do.
B
That's like. That's the hardest. Like just like sort of staying on one topic and just like over playing it and thinking of all. You know, it's just like, that's doing nothing. Going in circles.
A
I know.
B
Doing nothing for you.
A
That's what I have. It is so hot in here. I Am so sorry. I'm like, keeping you captive like the Bulgarian men in the movie. I'm like, literally holding you captive. You don't obsess with about the movie.
B
Yeah. Tell me.
A
It's like a real true early 2000s. We needed this.
B
We needed this. For sure.
A
I need. It's so fun and I love that we're.
B
We're playing into exactly what it is, you know?
A
Yes. And you're so good in it.
B
Yeah.
A
It is so cunty. I mean, I'm not spoiling.
B
I mean, it'll be out.
A
There is a dance number. There's a dance number. It is so fabulous and cunty.
B
Thank you.
A
Five, six, seven, eight. Like, it is.
B
Yeah. That's a fun. Thank you for watching it. That is so nice of you.
A
Like, you did imagine I'm here. I'm like, so I didn't watch your movie.
B
I mean, there's no way you can watch everything.
A
Yeah, that is true. But I genuinely was super happy to watch it. It like, put my mind at ease last night.
B
Thank you.
A
Had such. I was able to. That's my favorite thing about movies and television.
B
You transport.
A
I transport. That's why I like TV so much, because I can transport into its a world 100. Like a completely new and separate world. So I think my next one that I'm gonna take on is Schitt's Creek.
B
Yeah.
A
So do you want to get into the tell me what's wrongs so you're not like, I won't like, leave you here stranded, sweating like, we're in the.
B
Literally fine.
A
I don't know if you know, but we can prescribe things. So, like, if someone comes in and is like, I'm traveling abroad with my friends and we're in a creepy Bulgarian hotel, I'd be like, well, I prescribed you pretty lethal.
B
Yeah, 100.
A
And I'm also a ballerina. Well, I prescribed you pretty lethal. Did you quickly, before we get into these. Did you watch any, like. Did you watch, like, any Black Swans?
B
Like, yeah, all the things. But, like, honestly, Kill Bill was a huge reference for us. And that was prior to Uma coming onto the project.
A
Really? How was that?
B
Oh, it was absurd. Like, we landed and I had found out and I was like, you are not going to like. I was telling the girls. I was like, you're not going to believe. You're not going to believe. And they were like, who? And I was like, guess. And they were. I was. They couldn't. They were trying to think. And I was like, our reference and they were like, it is not.
A
That's such a. And I was like, that's such a kismet moment.
B
It is. And she. Which, I mean, she's the most unbelievably, like, kind, smart, just regal woman. And she was like. I remember her saying, like, this is, like, some of the most fun she's had since Kill Bill.
A
Oh, that's awesome.
B
And, you know, she means that 100. And she's very authentic.
A
Did you learn anything from her?
B
I think just, like, her stillness and her calm, like, energy. And she also had to learn that crazy accent. Like, she was in, like, a full.
A
Like, was she like, this is hard for me, or was she like, this is my job. This is work I'm gonna do?
B
She. She never made it look hard.
A
Yeah.
B
I don't know if that's how she felt, but she did it with ease.
A
That's why she's, like, one of the greatest.
B
Like, and she's a model. So tall. Drop dead.
A
Do you ever find yourself in situations where you're getting advice from someone like that and you're like, wow, I can't believe. I can't believe I'm getting advice from someone like you right now. And that's when, you know, like, I
B
gotta take this 100.
A
Because I'll get advice from someone, and I'll say it to Louise, and she'll be like, I literally told you you that. And I'm like, right. But.
B
But it doesn't. The way. It's not Uma Thurman.
A
It's not Uma Thurman telling me that. Like, all due respect, it's true, though.
B
I. I think also, us being like, you know, you want to hear. You really digest it and want to hear it from people who have literally lived all of the experiences. Like, it just hits on a different level.
A
Are you watching Love Story?
B
I haven't watched it yet. Should I watch it?
A
Sarah pigeon in it. I just.
B
She's so beautiful.
A
No, the blonde. You know, she photoshopped blonde hair. I heard that shot for the audition.
B
I'm gonna do that in the future.
A
I mean, she, like. She's just like, God, it's so. She played it. She's. I mean, I don't. I think she did. I think she's done an incredible job.
B
Great.
A
I think she's intoxicating to watch. I love that. Yeah. Like, intoxicate. You can't take your eyes off of her.
B
I love that. Get her on the pod.
A
I wish. I wish.
B
You wish.
A
She's. She's Also so cool. I, I got to meet her the other day and she's just dressed as chic and awesome person and so beautiful.
B
Yeah, like naturally beautiful.
A
You'll love the show.
B
I think you need to watch it.
A
It's cool. It's cool. Seeing like I feel like we were on 2000s nostalgia for so long and I think we're on to 90s.
B
I love.
A
I think that's what we're.
B
I wish I was born in the 90s.
A
You say that now. And while I agree, actually I think you're probably right.
B
When were you born?
A
The 1999. So I'm a 2000s baby as well, I would say. But I, I want to say I, I, but I wouldn't have the job I have.
B
That's true.
A
If I was born, then I would have have had like the second chance I got. You know what I mean? Because like I could have pursued as you said, like I. You chose not to do what the. Billy.
B
Billy Elliot.
A
Billy Elliot. I chose not to do theater as a kid and I always regretted it. And then like Tick tock kind of gave me this lane back in that I never would have thought you're doing everything but I really like Tick tock was the way in. Tick tock was the only reason I'm sitting here.
B
You are Tick tock.
A
I like. Thank you. I don't feel like I am, but thank you. I've been in love with my situationship for a year and a half and he recently admitted to me that he feels the same and wants a future. Obsessed. The only problem is all of my friends genuinely hate him and I get why. Because we have been a little toxic on and off again. We use each other as a crutch. Etc. How do, how do I either get them off my back or explain that it's going to be okay. Well, it's not going to be okay.
B
It's not going to be okay. I prescribe. Tell me lies.
A
You think. Have you ever been in like a situationship? I've always said I've wanted a situationship and the second I get close to one I'm like, this is. This feels like death.
B
I, I feel like it either it either ends good or bad, there's no in between. And being in the in between phase is just a no go. Also like, yeah, if you're, if you're admitting that you're toxic in this situation is toxic.
A
God, the sex must be amazing though.
B
For sure.
A
Like dick can do anything. It's legit. A wand. Like it is it is. It's a wand, but it's like a. Yeah, whatever. So you prescribe Tell Me Lives. Well, just Tell Me Lies.
B
Just to, like. Unfortunately, it's just like, that's.
A
Well, I mean, I never finished Tell me Lies, and I need to, because Iris is in season three, and I really want to watch it. I heard Steven just.
B
Oh, he just goes off.
A
I've heard he becomes like. You can't even say he's hot. Like, it's like, legitimately indefensible.
B
I've never liked him. I've never had a moment where I've liked him.
A
What's the situation again?
B
It's like home life. Like, he has, like, a bad.
A
Like, oh, yeah, he's bad.
B
He's bad.
A
And apparently in season three actor. But yeah. Yeah, apparently in season three, it's like, to the point of, like, for real.
B
Yeah. But he does have this hilarious moment on the, like, very end of the show that is just, like. It's so funny. Like, he goes off, really. And it's. I was laughing.
A
So how does it end?
B
I just wait. Do you see the shows on my arms, like, after? And he goes, yeah.
A
My mom is constantly depending on me to be her safe space to bitch about my sister and her husband, and most of the time, I'm just not in the mood to hear the negativity. When I try to put up a boundary and say, I just don't really want to talk about this. She gets all pissy. It's pushing me away from her. And then I feel guilty because she doesn't have anyone to talk to. I honestly, I understand that. Not that my parents do that in that same situation, but, like, parents are going to go to their kids and 100. It is hard.
B
It's also hard when it's like, this is something that I've really just through years of, whether it be other people's experiences or whatnot. Like, at the end of the day, you are still the kid, even if you, you know, like.
A
Yeah. It's hard to, like, feel that way, though. Sometimes I'm like, I feel bad.
B
I know. Because it's that also that cliche of, like, you grew up and you're like,
A
wow, now I'm supposed to.
C
Yeah.
B
And parents are. They're experiencing life for the first time.
A
That's what I always say. Yeah.
B
It is a hard thing, and they don't have everything figured out, and, like, they need. They feel safe enough to want to confide in you and whatever. But it is.
A
It is.
B
That's A slippery slope.
A
Yeah. I don't know what I would prescribe for that.
B
Therapist.
A
A therapist?
B
Like, like talk to a therapist about that.
A
Yeah, like a real, like go through the trials and tribulations of getting a good one.
B
Yeah.
A
I am like using already what my therapist told me about earlier today and it's already been helpful.
B
That's amazing.
A
So I'm low key juggling men at the moment. Obsessed with. Usually boys only want to hook up but recently I've had like three guys ask me on dates and I low key like all so fun. So fun. Idk what is in the air right now. But everyone is being boyfriend material and I'm overwhelmed. Who do I pick? What do I do? Obviously I prescribe that episode of Hannah Montana where she has to pick between Jake Jesse.
B
Jesse and Jake Jake.
A
You obviously have to.
B
I just like woke up. I mean that like informed me to my like childhood for sure.
A
I never got it then. But it's once again a timeless, timeless.
B
You never got Hannah Montana?
A
No, I got Hannah Montana. But I never understood the stress that she had between choosing.
B
Oh, same.
A
But like that's timeless.
B
I just mean like Hannah Montana in general. And also did you see the anniversary that's happening?
A
Did that come out yet?
B
I don't know. But I am.
A
I'm sad. Did you like watch Weekly? Of course I don't remember like watching Weekly.
B
I have that every day extra room that I made. My parents put strobe lights and like his fog machine and I could perform Hannah Montana concerts.
A
It really is a brilliant concept. Oh, it's the student by day, pop star by night.
B
No, 100%.
A
It's literally a brilliant concept.
B
My favorite thing, especially in the Hannah Montana movie when she finally reveals and takes the wig off, I'm like, she looks exactly the same. Like it's. It's so funny. Cuz it's like such a revol sequence or the, the.
A
The revolving door.
B
Oh my gosh.
A
It's so just. It's awesome. And of course Taylor Swift wrote the music for that album. Like it's just so good. It's all perfect. It was divine timing. Like everything was divine.
B
It really was.
A
You know, he didn't know what Hannah Montana was. I knew what it was.
B
But you never watched it. No, you need to watch it.
A
No way. He's not gonna enjoy it. Yeah. You think he's gonna sit down at. How old are you? 22. Yeah, actually, honestly, no, Lynn, I think you could. I think you could.
B
No one's going to come in. Sweet Niblets. Yeah, it's really funny. Honestly, it is. At least I remember it being really funny.
A
I would say my favorite Disney show of all time, though, is that so Raven. Like, that's the one for me that still gets me to laugh. And I was a Cheetah Girls boy. Like, I love the Cheetah Girls. I used to run around elementary school until everyone. My dad directed the movie Lies.
B
No, you did not.
A
Yeah, see, I did.
B
Why that was.
A
I don't know. I thought it would give me, like, street cred. I would be like, he directed the. Like, he directed Cheetah Girls 2 in Barcelona.
B
No way.
A
Yes, I swear.
B
And did you feel guilty about that or no?
A
Yeah, I did. So I, like, obviously, my dad was like, are you telling. Because, like, someone called and was like, are you telling people that?
B
Is he a director?
A
He's a writer.
B
Okay.
A
And so it, like, the lie, like, actually somewhat worked.
B
Okay. I thought you were gonna be like, no.
A
He's like, no, no, he's a writer. So that's why I was able to get away with the lie for, like, a full 24 hours. But I didn't get past that. I have ADHD, and growing up, I had no patience to sit and watch movies slash TV. Now I'm 22 and want to start watching. I actually really feel this. I just don't know where to start. I've watched very few shows. Like, almost none. I feel so excluded when people talk about shows and want to get into it. You and Beautiful Guest, you should recommend a good show to start. Okay. I think we should recommend Scandal.
B
I agree.
A
Because if you have adhd, it will
B
keep you captive, and it's a repetitive thing, so you'll be able to, like, you know, it's not. It's not too. I mean, a lot is going on, but, like, you're. You're locking yourself into something that you're like, okay.
A
I would say that there are TV shows that you have to give a season or two.
B
You don't have to do that.
A
You don't have to do that with Scandal. So if you want to, like, do TV for Beginners, not that Scandal is, like TV for Beginners, but the plot moves at a faster pace than.
B
Absolutely. And you're in. You're. Yeah.
A
You're like, you're. But you're a gladiator.
B
Yeah.
A
So. And I also think, like, sometimes people with adhd, at least, I struggle with this. It's like, I can't get through the first 10 minutes. Just get through the first 10. Get through the first episode, watch the second. Give yourself grace to, like, get into it. Just sit and watch 100 and make
B
it a good snack. Like, get comfy, like.
A
So we prescribe Scandal.
B
Yeah.
A
My boyfriend listens through his AirPods every night in bed to fall asleep. I always assumed it was music or white noise.
B
No, don't tell me.
A
I don't know where this is going yet either. His AirPod fell out one night and I heard strange noises. I put it in and it was the car and it was a constant stream of a woman seductively whispering and moaning. What the. I want to bring this up. He's so perfect. Otherwise. I'm. You have to say something.
B
You absolutely. The fact that you haven't is. Is crazy.
A
Once again, divine timing. His AirPod fell out and how sweet of you to just assume. I would also assume, like, oh, he's probably just listening to a podcast. But did you never ask, like, what do you listen to? No, I'm blaming the woman.
B
I would think it's like, well, noises.
A
You need to just be like, what's up? Because I. Do you think it's porn? Do you think he's watching?
B
That's where my brain went. And if that's the case, and that's obviously just not okay.
A
He clearly has demons for sure. But, you know, need to.
B
You need to.
A
I wouldn't prescribe like, a breakup.
B
No, I think I prescribe like a proper, like, sit down talk.
A
You can imagine he's going to start crying. I'm so embarrassed. I would too. Yeah.
B
And honestly, you should be embarrassed.
A
Yes.
B
Weird.
A
It's embarrassing. I would feel. If I was the girl. I totally. I can't even imagine how she's feeling.
B
I would feel sick to myself.
A
I would feel sick.
B
I'm sorry.
A
I'm sorry. I don't know what to prescribe you. A sit down, talk, watch the show intervention.
B
Yeah, but see, but stay strong on this. Like, don't let him, like, make you feel like you're weird for listening. Like, you know, like, oh, yeah, you
A
can't let him gaslight you.
B
100.
A
You can't let him gaslight you. You have to be like, it was not weird. It is weird. Like, you do not distract. Do not distract.
B
100. If he's like, oh, my mom. Something like, that's weird.
A
What? You really agree with that? You do, you know from personal. Do you know, I thought it was like, parental issues. Oh, got it, got it, got it, got it, got it, got it, got it. I'm in love with someone I can't be in love with, and I don't know how to let it pass. Oh, girl, I've been there. I felt this for two years, but I missed my opportunity. And now my best friend has been dating this guy for a year and a half.
B
Oh, that's rough.
A
The reason I'm writing in is because he just proposed to her. Literally sobbing. Like, he's so kind to me still, and so hubby, but I can't have him help. It's like real heartbreak. There's nothing to do. The only thing that will get you through that is a piece of art, an album about unrequited love, a show about it, a movie about it, and watching somebody else go through it there, because that is your best friend and her man.
B
Yeah.
A
There is Nothing. Hindsight is 20 20. There's nothing you can do. I would maybe listen to, like, the one by Taylor Swift.
B
Obviously, maybe in hindsight, that just wasn't the person for you. Like, it's.
A
You know, but it could have been fun.
B
It could have been.
A
It could have been. But it's not.
B
But it's not. Have you seen Past Lives?
A
Yes. Watch Past Lives.
B
Past Lives is.
A
Wow. Watch Past Lives. That's a great recommendation. That's a great prescription.
B
Thank you.
A
Yeah, it is. I think one of the most difficult parts about growing up is realizing that life isn't fair, for sure. And it's like, really come, and a lot of people will be like, how did you not realize that sooner? And. But people come to that realization when they need to.
B
Absolutely.
A
And, like, kind of sitting with the fact that, like, life owes you nothing and life is so unfair is a really tough lesson to learn. So, like, give yourself grace. Like, you can be upset. Allow yourself to be upset.
B
100.
A
But I would be devastated.
B
I would be so heartbreaking.
A
But don't get messy.
B
No, don't get messy. And, like, if they seem happy, I mean, they're clearly engaged. So it seems like that's. That's like, the icing on. On the cake.
A
It's going to be a rough year.
B
But maybe the universe is protecting you from something that could have conspired.
A
You need to. It's going to be a rough year. What you need to do is put yourself on the dating market. Meow. And you do not go in with the intent of, like, I need to find someone now to, like, distract myself, but just, like, go on dates.
B
Yeah.
A
I hate dating.
B
I've never really done it. So, yeah, it's.
A
It's literally like you sit across. How are you? Oh, I'm good. How are you? It's literally weather talk. It's like legit weather talk. Yes. Because I'm so insecure that the entire. And especially, like, gay dating, the only thing I can think about is like, is this a friend date or is this a real date? So until we make that move of a kiss, I. That's the only thing playing in my head. I'm all, get it again, again, again, again, again.
B
100.
A
Like, all I can think about is so valid. So until someone kisses. That's why my love language is words of affirmation. Like, you need to tell me that you want me and, like, I'm, like, desirable 100%. What's your love language?
B
I would say it's a little bit of. I would say, like, words of affirmation. I do love physical touch and quality time.
A
Yeah, I like physical touching, honestly, all
B
of them, except for gifts. Like, I don't really care about the gift.
A
Care about gifts.
B
I care giving people gifts. But, like, I think also acts of service is so important to me.
A
Like, what's the difference between that and gift?
B
I think, well, like, when my. For instance, like, is that a ridiculous. No, no. Like, for instance, like, my boyfriend is very, like, he makes me dinner every night. He cooks for us every night. He'll, like, set everything up. He'll take, like, I go to, like, grab the trash, and he's like, no, no, no, I'm going to take out the trash. You know, like, listening to this.
A
You have a beautiful life. You have a beautiful life.
B
I do.
A
Takes out the trash, makes you dinner.
B
Yeah.
A
You're a movie star
B
and, like. Yeah, no, it's really nice.
A
But you know what? After the year you had last year, you deserve it.
B
Thank you.
A
You deserve it. You deserve this beautiful life.
B
Thank you so much.
A
You deserve this beautiful life, and I'm so happy for you.
B
Thank you so much. I mean, I don't have, like, a perfect life. Of course not.
A
But you deserve these great things that are happening to you.
B
So.
A
Not that you need to hear it from me, but.
B
I know. I. I appreciate that so much, but.
A
Yeah. How did we even get here?
B
Something with.
A
Was it the air? Are we still on the AirPods? No, we're on the girl.
B
She needs to move.
A
Yeah, she needs to. She needs to move on. But I'm telling you right now, it's going to be a tough year. You need to make light of it. You need to find that one girl. You need to find, like, a Peyton Or Julia or a Brett. To just, like, be like. Or like an Alice. Like, to be like, can you believe this is happening? Like, I'm going to kill myself. Not actually. But, like, this is so horrible. Like, I'm miserable right now.
B
Yeah.
A
And they'll be like, yeah, this sucks. And just laugh about it. The. You could. The only thing to do is laugh. What else are you going to do? Cry? No, there's two options. There's literally two options. Laugh, cry, or sit. Or three, I guess, and do nothing.
B
Or all three at the same time.
A
I've been in a total flop state at work. I had multiple typos in one important email. I fully ended a large meeting that I was running on accident and subsequently take the wins.
B
Okay, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait. What. What just happened? So, for context, who was the guest?
A
Tate? I. I did. I moderated a Q A for Tate's new album.
B
Okay.
A
And I couldn't pronounce the word subsequently. And.
B
Yeah, with ease.
A
With ease. But like, the Hollywood Reporter posted it and I said subsidy. No, no, subsequently would have been better than what I said. I said subs to I'll send you the video. It was really embarrassing, but I. I said. I stitched it. And I said, you'll get him next time. And you know what you did? I got him.
B
You got him.
A
I got him.
B
That's.
A
I got him this time.
B
I'm so happy for you. That must feel really good. Sit in that feeling.
A
I'm sitting it. And subsequently cried in a conference room alone. And that someone, via Zoom, told me to stay on mute. I'm so burnt out. How do I remedy this? Well, I think you just told me you had. You had a rough year. How do you remedy. I know it's not the same because your job is to be an actress, and this person very clearly works at, like, a corporate 9 to 5. But I would say, like, did you feel burnt out last year? Was that a feeling that you encountered?
B
Probably a little bit.
A
And how did you remedy that?
B
It's just trying not to sit in that field. It's just, like, hard.
A
Try and just put yourself out there for a new job. Maybe this isn't the job where you're meant to be. I got fired from an internship. You don't get fired from internship. Like, let me, like, put that really laid out for you. You don't get fired from internships. That's not something you get fired from. And I got fired from it with like. And I just picked it up, got ramen, and moved On I called my dad, I said, you'll never believe it. I got fired from my internship. He said, really? I said, yes. And then I went partied all weekend and got back and period, learned my lesson.
B
Honestly. Sometimes that's just what you got to do. Like sitting in it. Like, you have to just find things to put your energy into, keep it moving.
A
Also, you're allowed to make mistakes. Everything is so immortalized these days. Like writing it. Imagine back in the day, like someone probably signed off on a note for a pigeon wrong and got home. Went home to. Speaking of period pieces. Came home. I was like, I sent out the worst thing and they really can't fix that or send a follow up because that pigeon is gone or the mail is gone. Like, it was probably so much worse 100 years ago.
B
100.
A
It was probably so much worse.
B
We have so much access to so much like, we just need to like, keep it, keep it moving.
A
Keep it moving, keep it moving. And trust me. Yeah, I'm sure your personality is great and you're so fun. I would watch maybe Horrible Bosses. Watch Horrible Bosses. Have you seen Horrible Bosses?
B
So good.
A
So good. My boyfriend is so obsessed with sports. He talks about it all the time and watches it 24 7. Even if we are out on dates or. I think that's charming. Sorry we're walking around. I hate it. And I've expressed that. And he doesn't seem to care because his team is his priority. Like, it's such an ick. But I understand that that's the culture. What do I do in defense of the boyfriend? Quickly, when the ERAS tour was happening and like your whole life. It was my whole life. Like, I would be out at dinner and I would have the live stream up to see like that was my sports to see which lot to see which surprise song she was gonna sing.
B
Okay.
A
It was so fun. It brought me joy. Yeah, it clearly brings him joy.
B
I was gonna say, like I, I her saying that she, he knows that he, she hates that so much is is sad because it's like you should like, but if someone's not your thing that makes your partner happy and you should just like let them have their thing. If it's something to where it's like genuinely coming in between their time, their quality time together. Maybe it's like you find a compromise of like, I can do it. Like, you can watch it here. But maybe if we're having like a nice sit down dinner, like maybe for
A
me, Taylor had a show every night. I was clocked in like, if someone who I was seeing was like, I hate this, I would not see them anymore. That was my passion. That is my passion. Like, I don't know what to say. Like, yeah, that was, like, that brought me, like, eras tour summers. I think it was two summers. Right. That it was over was probably the most joy I've ever felt in my entire life. Sitting down, watching those live streams. Like, you would watch a live stream
B
of the concert, and it was so fun.
A
Like, she would pick out a different outfit sometimes. We were like, oh, yeah. Like. Like she first started dating Travis. Okay, this is. I'll never forget this. When she first started dating Travis and it became, like, very public knowledge that we were dating, she went back on tour in Europe, and we were all like, what surprise song is she going to. Gonna do? And she did Labyrinth, because in it she says, oh, I'm falling in love again. And so, like, obviously we were all, like, freaking out, because, you know, she meant that too.
B
That's really cute.
A
That's my sports. That's my Super Bowl. That's my everything. So.
B
Yeah. So you get it.
A
Like, I get the guy.
B
I think it's hot when people are interested, like, just being interested in what they're interested in. Like, even if it's not your thing, it's like, if they're passionate about something, then I think it's hot.
A
Yeah, I think it's hot, too.
B
100.
A
To have such a. To see someone care for something I think is cool.
B
Absolutely.
A
But that's a lesson I learned with time. You asked me that three years ago. I would have been like, loser, loser. Break up with him. Like, and now I'm like, okay. Like, you know, that's his thing. Yeah, that's his thing.
B
Yeah.
A
My best. Do you watch Love Island?
B
I. I've watched the last three seasons.
A
Okay. I. I'm not a big watcher, but I did watch Rob Season. My best friend is going out with this guy who might be going on Love island soon. Run, run, run. You have to. You have to. He has other priorities. He has other priorities, and that's not clout. That's not bad to him. But he has other priorities, especially now.
B
Like, people who go on now are literally, like, they're doing it for one reason.
A
I would say Rob season changed the game for sure that season. Anything after that season, it's like. And honestly, I'm all. All respect if you want to pursue a career in that. And it's given people some incredible careers.
B
Oh, my God. I was just gonna say Alandria is like a full on model.
A
She's a model. She's a model. She has these incredible fashion moments and it's all because of Levi. Violent. But I would say if you're looking for love with this guy outside of this show, you are bound to get your feelings hurt because he's going to be on a reality television show looking for love.
B
It's just not at all normal in any way. That circumstance is crazy, right?
A
She said he is like an influencer dude. So what should she do? She says she likes him and she thought it was going further, but she found out by looking through his phone when he got DM'd by the love island admin girl. I mean, run. He's not telling you the truth already. Run.
B
I 100 agree. I think keep it moving.
A
And also reality television is like, I don't think this makes him a bad person. So I'm not like, trying to like, blast the guy.
B
Might have ulterior.
A
Actually, I would say him not telling her is shady af.
B
That is weird.
A
So, yeah, I would watch Love island and be like, okay, this is what I'm about to have to put myself through if I date this guy. Not happening. You're gonna have to watch him make out with people on camera. That was the last of the tell me what's wrongs.
B
Perfect.
A
Did you have fun?
B
I had so.
A
I had so much fun. That took me out of a really dark space for a minute.
B
I'm so glad. I think you're so amazing and I love your show and I'm honestly honored to be here.
A
I am so honored to have you and I'm so excited to get dinner this weekend. We have to.
B
Yes, we have to it.
A
Like, I have your number.
B
Yeah.
A
I'll make a group chat.
B
Great.
A
And we'll do it.
B
Perfect.
A
Well, Maddie, what did we learn today?
B
I think we learned that we need to take a deep breath sometimes when things get hard.
A
Yeah. Yeah. And also, like, spending time with people without a phone.
B
Yes.
A
And just talking to them straight on 100.
B
It's. It's really nice, like sometimes. And you can't ever really fully control this. But, like, I try to surround myself with people that are gonna give me energy, not deplete my energy. You know what I mean? And I feel like this gave me energy.
A
I feel like this gave me energy too.
B
I'm so glad.
A
And that's what I took away from it. I'm so happy we have the same takeaway. We'll see you in New York.
B
I'll see you in New York. Bye.
A
