Theo Vaughn
I want to share that there is a textile update. We got a restock over on the merch site. We loaded up on the latest sock drop in four colorways and. And the new Retcon T's. They're back. It's a limited run and they won't be there for long. And it's all available@theovonstore.com if you've gone there to support ever. I just want to say thank you very much. Today's guest is a streamer. He's a content creator and a music producer out of Long Island, New York. He just participated in Kai Senat's streamer University. Had a great time getting to know him. It's shock o'.
Jay Shock
Clock.
Theo Vaughn
Today's guest is J. Shock. Looking Shar Sharp, boy.
Jay Shock
Choco clock.
Theo Vaughn
Shako clock. Bro. Bro. Dude. Yeah. Yes, bro.
Jay Shock
Thank you.
Theo Vaughn
Thank you, dude.
Jay Shock
Thank you for having me.
Theo Vaughn
You bet, man. Show me how to do the. The look away handshake.
Jay Shock
No look. Handshake.
Theo Vaughn
Yeah.
Jay Shock
That was created completely by accident, but you come in and go for the look.
Theo Vaughn
Okay.
Jay Shock
I just look at the watch, if you have one. Or you can look at your phone.
Theo Vaughn
Okay.
Jay Shock
And this do it.
Theo Vaughn
So here, if I got my phone, I'm doing it like.
Jay Shock
Yeah, like. Nice. What's your name? And then.
Theo Vaughn
Yeah, Theo.
Jay Shock
Don't look at me.
Theo Vaughn
Okay. Sorry, dude. It's in the directions, and I messed it up. Okay. All right.
Jay Shock
Hold the phone with that hand?
Theo Vaughn
With this hand?
Jay Shock
Yeah.
Theo Vaughn
Okay. Yeah. What's your name? Awesome. Good to meet you, man. That's great.
Jay Shock
Yes.
Theo Vaughn
Yeah.
Jay Shock
How you doing? You want to know how that happened?
Theo Vaughn
Yeah.
Jay Shock
So I went into a deli with my friend to get a chopped cheese,
Theo Vaughn
which is typical for an Italian, right?
Jay Shock
Exactly.
Theo Vaughn
That's just. That's a national pastime.
Jay Shock
Yes. And on Long island, where I'm from, they don't really have chopped cheeses, but this deli had one. It was in Carl Place or something. We go in and there's this old guy named Frank, 75, 80 years old. And we get in there, and he's, like, going crazy. Like, do you know who this is? Do you know who's in your deli right now? Random customer. He's like, I'm your biggest fan. It was the oldest fan I ever met, Frank. And he orders us food. Me and my cameraman, food. We get out my. We gotta do a video now, Drew. So we get in, and in the video, you see me walking up to the guy, Antonio, and he hands me his phone. He's like, what's? Your handle. And I type it in his phone and I'm like, what's your name? And I said. He said, antonio. I'm like, okay, nice to meet you. But I didn't even click. There it is, look, it's right here. So this got clipped. And of course, months after, who blindly goes.
Theo Vaughn
Who just gives their hand to a man they don't even know near a bunch of boar's head meats? I mean, that's great. Who just randomly offers. God. God only gives you two hands, Jay Shock. And you're just like, here, I'm just going to offer one. What if that guy would have just.
Jay Shock
Frick.
Theo Vaughn
He could have just. Dude, that guy could have put it right.
Jay Shock
He could have smacked my head. Look, I have no hair on my head. He could have smacked it off.
Theo Vaughn
He could have put it right in his mouth. Jay Shock. It's like, don't feed the bears. We don't know what this guy's been up to.
Jay Shock
So now, a couple weeks later, there's. Is this TikTok. Okay? So if you click the comments, it should pop up blue. Like, no, look, handshake. So if something is trending, it'll be like a blue comment. And it kept popping up on all my videos, and I didn't know what it was. So one day I went to Florida and my uncle's like, next time, look a guy in the face when you give him a handshake. And I was like, what do you mean? He's like, it's all over the Internet. You shake the guy's hand.
Theo Vaughn
Your uncle told you that finally clicked.
Jay Shock
Look at this.
Theo Vaughn
This is what's going on. Why you. No, look in them all.
Jay Shock
I did it to Kai. You know Kai's tonight.
Theo Vaughn
Yeah, for sure.
Jay Shock
When I got the streamer, you. There it is. That one right there. Look at this. I hear them.
Theo Vaughn
Got it. You got it Real quick.
Jay Shock
How are you? What time is it?
Theo Vaughn
Wow, bro. You had it loaded too, there. It's almost like you gotta, like. It's like you got that thing on you, you know? You got that thing on. You got that Draco right there, bro. That's beautiful, dude.
Jay Shock
Do you have like a. A signature move like that?
Theo Vaughn
I don't really. Sometimes it's like waving goodbye to people crying in a driveway is something I've done a decent amount over the years. I don't know if that's a signature move. Really? You know what? I'm gonna think about that. Do I have a signature move, you think, Trevin?
Jay Shock
Like, if you Were doing a wrestling move, I would hit that. Just hit the shock o clock on him.
Theo Vaughn
Oh, hit the shackle clock. And this body slay. Yeah. What would you be a good. Your signature move is.
Jay Shock
It's more of a catchphrase, I think.
Theo Vaughn
What else? Oh, yeah, which one? I say what else a lot because it's like, sometimes if I'm talking to somebody, I don't like there to be like, a lot of, like, downtime in the conversation. So I'll be like if things get. Get real quiet.
Jay Shock
What else? Yeah, in a minute. Yeah, I've had a lot of different viral moments like that.
Theo Vaughn
Oh, yeah, I've seen.
Jay Shock
That was one of the biggest one unintentionally. But, like, I think the first major video I did was me going to Chili's and. And I said, first time trying Chili, but feel what all the hype's about. And that video got like 2 million views.
Theo Vaughn
Is there hype about that? I guess there is.
Jay Shock
There's got to be some hype around Chili. No.
Theo Vaughn
Yeah, that's true. That's true. That's true.
Jay Shock
Triple dipper.
Theo Vaughn
Oh, I don't even know how. Yeah. What were we. I can't believe we were double dipping in.
Jay Shock
How did you find this? How was he so quick with it?
Theo Vaughn
Oh, there you are.
Jay Shock
So this is when. Look at my hair, how different I look, bro.
Theo Vaughn
You look freaking. You look.
Jay Shock
I look like a. Oh, you look
Theo Vaughn
like business casual caillou.
Jay Shock
I look. I look like a different human being.
Theo Vaughn
Yeah, dude, you definitely.
Jay Shock
And I used to drink. I don't drink anymore.
Theo Vaughn
That's what I heard. You look like this lady that used to teach PE to us as well.
Jay Shock
This is my friend Andrew. He took a ginormous sip of core, as you're going to see here.
Theo Vaughn
And what? Coors light.
Jay Shock
Little silver bullet. Look at this humongous sip.
Theo Vaughn
It'll kill a werewolf. It won't kill a Jay Shock, though, huh?
Jay Shock
Completely different style back then, dude.
Theo Vaughn
Welcome, bro. Thanks for coming in, man. Thanks for hanging out, bro. Yeah, you bet, man. When is. Bro, when is. When is shock o' clock on?
Jay Shock
Officially, it's at 9:09.
Theo Vaughn
Okay.
Jay Shock
9:09 is my time. It is y. Zach o' clock time. I just love the number nine. I was born April 9, 1999. The number 99 has a lot of significance to me. Like, I rate out of nine, you know, when I rate my food, I rate only Adam 9. I'm the only one that does that.
Theo Vaughn
1 to 9.
Jay Shock
1 to 9. Because mathematically, it makes no Sense, but philosophically it does. So out of nine, I think you should always be at 99% and always try to become perfect. Because we'll never be perfect. Nothing's ever perfect. So when I read out of nine, it's basically like, oh, yeah, you know, the 10 is perfect, but. Cause we're taught in school, 10 is perfect. You don't get 100% in school, you get a a plus, you get 100%. I like to be at 99% and always try to be better. So it makes sense like that. But right, mathematically, if you were at a 9, it would technically be 100%.
Theo Vaughn
That's shockonomics, dude.
Jay Shock
That's what I thought. I like that.
Theo Vaughn
That's what we're figuring out here, dude. But, dude, did they have shock o' clock during, like. Do they even have it during, like, daylight savings time and stuff? Like, is it.
Jay Shock
Yes. Well, set the clocks back, Set them forward. It's always shock o'. Clock.
Theo Vaughn
Doesn't matter.
Jay Shock
Always on the wrist. So now when I have no watches on, it's chocolate clock on the wrist, okay? When I have a watch on, it's chocolate clock on the dot. So if you go back to my older videos, you could see if I'm wearing a watch. I'm like, choco clock on the dot. Today we're having whatever.
Theo Vaughn
And is there a day of the year when there's no shocking. Like, is there like a one day of, like, is there a day of the year where it's like, no clocking? Yeah, we're not clocking. Yeah, the clock is not shockable. Every. It's not even plugged in. You know what I'm saying? Like, is there a day when it's off?
Jay Shock
It's always on. Really, Mr. Vaughn? It's always on.
Theo Vaughn
Even Christmas.
Jay Shock
Every day. I recorded last Christmas or. Yeah, last Christmas I was panicking because I didn't have a video because I was on a. When I quit my job and even before it, I was recording every day and posting every day and editing every day. Same day, same video. For 365 days. I posted every day. I got all the way up to over a million followers. And it worked. But the clock was always ticking.
Theo Vaughn
It never ends.
Jay Shock
I think maybe if I go to, like, church or something, it's off, okay? Like, there's no cameras. Even though people try to take pictures of me, I'm like, this is the Lord's house, you know, we can't be Jesus ain't posted on the gram today, you know?
Theo Vaughn
Well, we gotta honor him. There's a bigger J. Yeah, there's a bigger.
Jay Shock
It's crazy.
Theo Vaughn
Yeah, there's a bigger J on that day for sure.
Jay Shock
I find it really hard to take breaks, especially with food. There's always new items coming out. Like, new. I don't know, pickle, bubble gum or some crap, you know, like crazy Flamin hot.
Theo Vaughn
Oh, yeah. Barbecue napkins or something. There's always some shit. There's always, like, a new thing. They're like, yeah, man, we got this new, like, Chipotle spare tires or whatever.
Jay Shock
Flaming hot toilet paper, you know, it's all.
Theo Vaughn
It's always some bull. Yeah, it's like something coming out, you know. It's like we got new Chipotle hairspray or whatever. Some type of shit. It's like, what are we.
Jay Shock
I saw they made McDonald's scented candles.
Theo Vaughn
Nuh.
Jay Shock
Based on all the dipping sauce in their candles.
Theo Vaughn
Oh, that's beautiful.
Jay Shock
The pop some sweet and sour, you know.
Theo Vaughn
Oh, I would definitely put one of those on. Put. Dude, look at this. If I'm having a funeral, put a couple of those on, bro.
Jay Shock
You have a favorite sauce? Like condiment?
Theo Vaughn
Yeah, probably that. I would say Zitzaki or I would probably say. Or mustard, Bro. You know what? I had a dream two nights ago that mustard was making a big comeback.
Jay Shock
What? Hey, did it even fall off?
Theo Vaughn
Oh, I think mustard fell off, brother. I think. I mean, I think I. Like. Yeah. When it was the last time you even heard anybody talk about it?
Jay Shock
Nobody. Nobody's like, yo, I'm gonna get some mustard out. And. Yeah, put it on something.
Theo Vaughn
And it's back. Jay shot. But, dude. So here's what I want to. So let's go into this. Thank. Dude, thanks so much for coming in, bro.
Jay Shock
Thank you for having me.
Theo Vaughn
Yeah, it's definitely an honor, bro.
Jay Shock
Yes, sir.
Theo Vaughn
It's been a blessing to see you. And you don't have to call me Siri. You can just say yes. Okay, okay, sir. And it's just been like, you. You came on my radar. Like, I would see a lot of clips and stuff. And then I was talking with Sketch, and he's like, bro, you gotta meet my friend Jay Shock. He's like the greatest guy ever. He thinks you're like. You know, he's like, you're this marinara savior, you know, this little. You know. He thinks you're this new sort of angel of. Of the world, you know? Yeah.
Jay Shock
Did you see any clips of us in streamer U?
Theo Vaughn
Oh, dude, I saw the one. What's the one where you guys don't have your shirts on. That one was crazy.
Jay Shock
Oh, that was funny when we spit out the door. So he was trying to teach me manners for my homecoming date at prom or at homecoming. And I was trying to get the door for him, and I did, like, a look.
Theo Vaughn
This is so class. Oh, dude.
Jay Shock
Then I did a spin, like a transmission. Look at this.
Theo Vaughn
Oh, yeah.
Jay Shock
Right through. We had so many good moments together, and it all was so natural and real. And I told, like, him and a lot of people, like, if I ever met big people, like, I don't know, celebrities like Post Malone or, I don't know, Jalen Hurts. I just want to be friends. Like, I want to be your friend, you know, I don't care about the cameras or publicity. The following. I just. I want to build good friendships.
Theo Vaughn
Yeah.
Jay Shock
And Sketch, to me, is like my brother, literally. We. We. We connected such a good way, and he was the realest person at that school.
Theo Vaughn
Oh, dude, he's just. Yeah, he's a special guy, man. He's one of the few guys that'll just call and, like, check on me every now and then, just kind of see what's going on. He's got a big heart.
Jay Shock
Yes, sir.
Theo Vaughn
Yeah, I just saw him a few weeks ago, bro. I love step, bro. Oh, yeah. People made this. Who made this? This?
Jay Shock
My clipper, Danny. He's, like my stream manager, one of my best friends, and he made that instantly because we. It was Sketch's idea to make that pose, and we actually turned it into a T shirt.
Theo Vaughn
Oh, it's beautiful.
Jay Shock
Funny as hell.
Theo Vaughn
God is beautiful. Two young fellas out there just learning how their bodies work.
Jay Shock
Just.
Theo Vaughn
Just spreading their manicotti out in the world.
Jay Shock
Hey, if they're doing sequel, Gosh. And I got it.
Theo Vaughn
You would do it. Oh, it'd be perfect, man. You can make your own. I mean, that's the thing now with streaming or with this. Like, we're taking clips from streams. It's just like a moment these days is almost like a whole movie. Was.
Jay Shock
I'm saying. Yeah.
Theo Vaughn
Was 20 years ago. So. Jay Shock. Jerome. That's your real name?
Jay Shock
Jerome? Yes, sir.
Theo Vaughn
Do you use that at all, or you just go by Jay Shot?
Jay Shock
Maybe, like. My parents call me. My parents call me Jerry.
Theo Vaughn
They do call you Jerry.
Jay Shock
I hate that.
Theo Vaughn
Really?
Jay Shock
Okay. That's what I went. My whole life.
Theo Vaughn
Jerry.
Jay Shock
Jerry.
Theo Vaughn
Yeah.
Jay Shock
You get the water?
Theo Vaughn
Yeah. What water? Bring your clothes down with someone. Fire. Jerry. Too much cologne. That's a big thing in Italian households.
Jay Shock
No, you know what it is, Jerry? Is this dirty. He'll be. Is this dirty all day? And why?
Theo Vaughn
Because your mother's just doing your laundry.
Jay Shock
Yeah. Like. Well, I try to do it, but I don't get to.
Theo Vaughn
Yeah.
Jay Shock
To be done a certain way, you know. Afraid I'll blow up the laundry machine,
Theo Vaughn
I guess, but that's part of. That's part of Italian culture, is somebody. A mother's got to be doing your laundry.
Jay Shock
They gotta. But my dad doesn't really. He practically is out. There was some dirty things at that laundry machine.
Theo Vaughn
Is he one of those nouveau kind of dads? Like, is he wanna.
Jay Shock
He's like, I love him, but he loves to do stuff. Gotta be mowing the lawn when it's raining.
Theo Vaughn
Does he have a shirt on or off when he's mowing?
Jay Shock
It's on. He's got his cardharp or Timberlands on, you know.
Theo Vaughn
Damn.
Jay Shock
Really?
Theo Vaughn
Is he listening to 50 Cent? What's he listening to when he's out there? Springsteen. What's he listening to out there?
Jay Shock
Probably some. Some rock and roll. Something Run dmc, something like that.
Theo Vaughn
Oh, tough.
Jay Shock
He's from Hollis. He was a fireman for 23 years.
Theo Vaughn
Really?
Jay Shock
Yeah.
Theo Vaughn
Take me. Well, take me into this, man. Take me into the origin story of how, like, before you were even like, a J. Spark in your father's eye, right? Like, take me back then. Like, I want to go. I want to get into.
Jay Shock
Go all the way back.
Theo Vaughn
I want to go all the way back. But I want to go into, like, the ingredients of the manicotti, right? I want to go into, like.
Jay Shock
Cue that. Cue that music.
Theo Vaughn
Yes.
Jay Shock
Yeah, that. That Twilight Zone, doctor Strange music.
Theo Vaughn
Yeah. Yeah. Because there's a lot of rumors, like. But I want to know, like, where your parents. Where did they meet at, right? Do you know that story?
Jay Shock
They met at a club.
Theo Vaughn
Okay.
Jay Shock
My mom.
Theo Vaughn
You're not to take. I want you to take me there. Right? I want you to set the season.
Jay Shock
Okay.
Theo Vaughn
I want you to set it. Because there's a lot of rumors.
Jay Shock
I got you, right? I can tell you everything because there's rumors.
Theo Vaughn
There's rumors out there that, you know, it was. Two people got caught hugging outside of a Sbarro pizza or whatever, you know, it's like. There's a lot of rooms.
Jay Shock
There's a great. Can I. I swear or no?
Theo Vaughn
Yeah, you can swear.
Jay Shock
There's some crazy shit out there. Yeah. About, like, me and all this dumb stuff.
Theo Vaughn
Oh, there's crazy. It was two people, two Italians tickling each Other outside of his borrow or whatever. And that's how you got started, right? So take me. I want to know how did you really? Who lit that J spark to be the J Wave? Yeah.
Jay Shock
So my dad went to a club in the Bronx, I believe. The Bronx.
Theo Vaughn
And was your dad a clubber? What kind of guy was he?
Jay Shock
I don't know. Really. Doesn't really keep telling me that about that stuff. Like, if he. I asked him about, like, you know, you ever get any action before mom? And he's like, did something on a bench.
Theo Vaughn
Yeah. Oh, wait. Something on a bench.
Jay Shock
On a bench, Yeah.
Theo Vaughn
I mean, forwards got me. It look. Yeah, it might have been. Yeah.
Jay Shock
He has a mustache, too. So he had that.
Theo Vaughn
Oh, yeah, look.
Jay Shock
You know what I'm saying?
Theo Vaughn
Oh, the ladies love that. That little word curtain. They pet that thing.
Jay Shock
So they were at a club, and he went up to my mom, and he's like, hey, you want to dance? What's your name? She's like, debbie. And he's like, betty. She walked away. She eventually went back up there, they danced. And then he called her house a night after, and she didn't pick up. And then she called again. He called again. My grandpa, who I called Chucky, who's not here anymore, he picked up and they went out, you know, hung out for a while. Eventually got married. My dad proposed to my mom with a fortune cookie. No, he put a ring in the fortune cookie. Oh, like, imagine having Chinese haircut one night. Boom, ring that's falling out.
Theo Vaughn
Dude, that's unbelievable. Well, it's just such a choice because, you know, it's hard after a little bit of Chinese food not to go for it, for the dessert.
Jay Shock
So now they. They had a kid. They only had me in Cape Cod. That's where the.
Theo Vaughn
So you were.
Jay Shock
Magic happened.
Theo Vaughn
You were conceived out in Cape Cod, and do you know, like, what was it like?
Jay Shock
Yeah, I know exactly where it was.
Theo Vaughn
You do? Was it a stormy night? What going on out there?
Jay Shock
A stone. Because it was shock. Yeah, it was like. Maybe there was lightning. Maybe it. It struck the tip of my dad's roof. Johnson.
Theo Vaughn
Yeah, his clock tower.
Jay Shock
Shock o'. Clock.
Theo Vaughn
I don't know, dude. I'm just saying. Yeah, I'm wondering, like, we. Because here's the thing. Like, Jay Shock has been born to the world, right? And so we have to have the origin story. So it's two. Your. Your parents, they fell in love, they got married, and I.
Jay Shock
Yes, they got married. Right. They had me after they got married, I think.
Theo Vaughn
Oh, really? So you might have been married, you might have been conceived out of wedlock.
Jay Shock
I don't know.
Theo Vaughn
That's a fucking grandmother. I bet.
Jay Shock
For sure a thunderstorm while it was happening, while the process was going down.
Theo Vaughn
And where. What township was that in?
Jay Shock
Do you know what town? Yeah, it was in North Truro. Top Mast Resort in Cape Cod. I go there every year. I had to cut my. My trip short this year because I had to go to Streamer U. And the first year I left. And every year we go, a ton of families bring it up. Best Top Mast North Turo. Cape Cod is my Disney World.
Theo Vaughn
Wow.
Jay Shock
It is.
Theo Vaughn
And this is where you were conceived at as well place ever. So you were conceived here. Now you go back there to the scene of the fricking beautiful crime.
Jay Shock
We gotta go here. You like seafood?
Theo Vaughn
We just met. Yes, I like seafood, but I don't even know.
Jay Shock
I would. I would take you to the best lobster restaurant ever.
Theo Vaughn
Oh, they got the lobsters.
Jay Shock
God, dude, a little lobster mukbang.
Theo Vaughn
I would love a little bit of lobster, but here lobster gets to be too much if you have too much lobster at once. Do you notice that?
Jay Shock
Yeah, I know what you mean. So anyway, fast forward.
Theo Vaughn
I can only eat about 11 ounces of lobster at a time.
Jay Shock
What's that?
Theo Vaughn
I can only eat about 11 ounces of lobster at a time.
Jay Shock
How about four pounds?
Theo Vaughn
You can handle that?
Jay Shock
All the meat?
Theo Vaughn
Nuh. But four pounds. What's your body weight though?
Jay Shock
125? 130.
Theo Vaughn
So you're saying you can eat 2% of your body weight in lobster?
Jay Shock
Why not? Why not let it fly?
Theo Vaughn
Yeah, you right. Anyways, why not eat 2 pounds of my own body weight in lobster, bro?
Jay Shock
You want me to tell you the rest of the law?
Theo Vaughn
Yeah, dude. Dude, can I tell you also though, I had a dream that there was a parrot and he and I had a dream that somebody got you a parrot and it could say shock o', clock, bro.
Jay Shock
We gotta get a parrot that says that. Just that?
Theo Vaughn
Yeah.
Jay Shock
Chocolate chocolac? Yeah, dude, what color would it be?
Theo Vaughn
Huh? Oh, probably the Italian flag colors, I'm guessing, bro. I don't even know if they have something like that. If you guys see something like that, put. If you guys find something in AI or something, put something.
Jay Shock
Italian parrot that says Shaka clock. I'll put a sh. A watch around his nose or something.
Theo Vaughn
Yeah, put a watch around his neck, brother. Yeah, sh. Dude, how great would that be, bro?
Jay Shock
You had a dream, huh? You had. That was a dream.
Theo Vaughn
Yeah, it's A dream that I had.
Jay Shock
What the hell, cuz?
Theo Vaughn
I just knew you were.
Jay Shock
No way.
Theo Vaughn
Let's go. Let's go.
Jay Shock
Bro, that's my favorite color too. Green,
Theo Vaughn
bro. That's it. Dude, how do you not have 11 of these? You know who would buy. I need nine of them, you know? Yeah, yeah, we need nine of them.
Jay Shock
99.
Theo Vaughn
Oh, there we go. Bro, I got 99 parrots.
Jay Shock
Oh my God.
Theo Vaughn
But a bitch ain't one, bro. You feel me? That's all I'm saying.
Jay Shock
That is so funny, dude.
Theo Vaughn
You know who would buy these for you? Probably has them in his yard. Jake Paul has those. Yeah, dude. He lives. He lives in I think Puerto Rico, but he's got these in his yard.
Jay Shock
Oh, I love to go there. I'm Puerto Rican.
Theo Vaughn
You are?
Jay Shock
I'm Greek, Italian and Puerto Rican.
Theo Vaughn
Oh my God. Huh? You're a freaking islander.
Jay Shock
I am.
Theo Vaughn
Dude, you were conceived at a United nations meeting. Huh? You telling me? Look at this. He's got some.
Jay Shock
Is this a Jake Paul's house?
Theo Vaughn
I don't know, but he definitely has some parrots.
Jay Shock
Damn.
Theo Vaughn
I'm sure he's got a few parrots over there.
Jay Shock
That'd be crazy. I think I've seen him with parrots. You ever see that dude, the real Tarzan?
Theo Vaughn
Nuh. Yo, good guy.
Jay Shock
He's cool. I want to do a parrot mukbang with him. He's got a bunch of animals. He's crazy.
Theo Vaughn
Let me see him. Oh, damn.
Jay Shock
You never seen this guy?
Theo Vaughn
Nuh. Where is this at? Indiana?
Jay Shock
Who knows? He go to India, he goes to Africa and he. He like. He'll grab him. That's a real cobra right there.
Theo Vaughn
Oh, he's like that. He look, he looks like Tyron Woodley
Jay Shock
a little bit slapping around a little bit.
Theo Vaughn
Oh, you think that cobra feels any scare more scared of this guy? Because the guy's jacked. Like, you think a snake can tell if you're jacked?
Jay Shock
I think the. The cobra know that's so powerful. But this guy feels like he's one with that cobra, man. He'll. He'll pick up freaking bears and apes and all this crazy, man.
Theo Vaughn
Oh my gosh.
Jay Shock
He's a legend.
Theo Vaughn
What kind of. And have you ever met this fellow?
Jay Shock
I wish, bro.
Theo Vaughn
Look at the one right there where he has it around his neck.
Jay Shock
Dude, he's crazy. What is that?
Theo Vaughn
Oh my God.
Jay Shock
He sleeps with him too. Nuh, he's got a. You ever see the fruit Loop parrot? A toucan. He has one.
Theo Vaughn
What?
Jay Shock
Yeah.
Theo Vaughn
Oh, he's really Living large and, oh, he's got beautiful pets. What's this guy's name?
Jay Shock
The real Tarzan.
Theo Vaughn
The real Tarzan?
Jay Shock
Yeah. He's cool.
Theo Vaughn
Mike Holston.
Jay Shock
You like animals like that?
Theo Vaughn
I like animals like that, yeah. I used to sell animals when I was growing up. What's your animal of choice, bro? I've heard. I've heard that you have a few pets.
Jay Shock
I want you to guess. Oh, oh, like my. My favorite animal or like, what? I like that.
Theo Vaughn
I've heard that you have some pets. I've heard you don't. You don't have any pets.
Jay Shock
I wish I did.
Theo Vaughn
Really?
Jay Shock
I want a dog. I used to have three Rottweilers. At different times. Nuh, that was my thing.
Theo Vaughn
What made dogs. What made you get those?
Jay Shock
My dad disliked them. My mom loved them. They're good guard dog, you know, and they just look cute, you know? Yeah.
Theo Vaughn
Oh, yeah, dude.
Jay Shock
My favorite animal is a bald eagle, though, because it could see what I can't. Because I have really bad eyesight. And I feel like my spirit animal is a bald eagle. You can see, like, everything, man. You know what I'm saying? Could see through people's bs, yo.
Theo Vaughn
I love that, bro. Dude, imagine if one of them picked you up, too. These things can pick up a lot of stuff.
Jay Shock
I think it could pick me up, dude.
Theo Vaughn
Two bald eagles could definitely pick you up.
Jay Shock
Two?
Theo Vaughn
Yeah, I think so. How much can they say they can pick up? I bet you didn't need how many. Yeah, let's see. How many bald eagles it would take to pick you up?
Jay Shock
£130.
Theo Vaughn
A bald eagle can typically lift off three to four pounds.
Jay Shock
Yeah, see?
Theo Vaughn
Oh, I thought they could do more.
Jay Shock
Pick a little. Little Shock Juniors.
Theo Vaughn
Oh, they could. Yeah. They could be like. Yeah.
Jay Shock
So how many would it take to pick up? Me? A little £4?
Theo Vaughn
A little shock nugget or whatever. Maybe like, dude, what about. Dude, what about 130? A pelican? Yeah, it would take probably 40. Let me see.
Jay Shock
It would be like a hundred.
Theo Vaughn
And it would take 40 Pelicans. It would take. No, it would take 40 Eagles.
Jay Shock
I can't do math.
Theo Vaughn
I can't.
Jay Shock
Definitely can't do math.
Theo Vaughn
40 to 45 to 50 bald eagles to carry a grown man.
Jay Shock
Well, let's test it out.
Theo Vaughn
It's shock o', clock, dude. It's shock o', clock, bro.
Jay Shock
Yes, sir.
Theo Vaughn
Great. Y' all ever think about how something got its start like Mountain Dew? I always thought it just kind of appeared one day, just sitting here, cool and refreshing and glistening like Maybe a. A beverage stork had flown it in from the great distance beyond, but now it's. It's actually straight out of Tennessee, 1948. Made in a real place by real people. Two brothers working tirelessly to nail that citrus kick that we all love today. Appalachian roots, baby. And honestly, it makes sense because Dew is bold and it's loud and it's got that I'll figure it out myself attitude. Because that's where it came from. Folks with grit and independence, doing things our way, and somehow they bottled that. That attitude is still in it today. Still bold, still unmistakable, still do. It's an American original that's been tasting great since 48. Not just a drink, it's a hometown story in a can. So next time you grab a do, just know it's an American original. Mountain Dew tasting great since 48. Blue chew gold has the juice, baby. That's right. We're talking about those wiener uppers, man. We're talking about them lifters. Wiener uppers. Good thing they don't test for performance enhancing drugs in the bedroom. Cause daddy on that up there, Bluetooth gold, there's good sex, then there's bluechew gold. That's what everybody's using. It's like having a mustache on your wiener. Two ingredients get the blood flowing and 2 get your brain aroused. That's how they do it. There's a reason Bluechew is the number one brand for better sex. Experience it yourself@bluechew.com and we've got a special deal for our listeners right now. We thank Bluechew for sponsoring the pod and the bedroom. Okay, so take me into. Okay, so, yeah, I just want to go into the lore a little bit more. So your parents, they fell in love out that you were conceived out of this beach place where you still go to this and your family still goes there for vacation?
Jay Shock
Oh, we go there every year with my friends too now.
Theo Vaughn
Okay.
Jay Shock
Do our own thing, you know, good time there.
Theo Vaughn
And would you ever. Would that be some of the first place you would meet, ladies and stuff? Dude, let me tell you this.
Jay Shock
I have my first kiss there.
Theo Vaughn
Yeah.
Jay Shock
Yeah. My first kiss on that bed. Girl named Julie. I pulled this shit out of my back pocket. What happened So I liked this girl for so long. Every year we would go. And her sister liked me too. So one year there was this other girl that came because it's all different families. And I ended up liking her over this other girl. And I kind of forgot about her. And the next year I came back and then she forgot about me. She started messing with some other dude. So I was like, I gotta make a move this year. So we're on a bed because we all had different rooms around on the water. And we were all together and I told one of my girlfriends, I'm like, yo, go get me some Oreo cookies. I gotta do something. She goes to get the oil cookies. She never comes back. And we're just talking about family getting personal. And I'm like, yeah, so you'll be okay, right? With all this family stuff happening? She goes, yeah. I'm like, I know you will. I.
Theo Vaughn
She shock.
Jay Shock
Right then she started crying.
Theo Vaughn
Nuh. What happened? Did you kiss her really fast like a bird?
Jay Shock
No, I just. I did it. We were cool. I went back to my room and apparently she started crying. She sent me a text message. I'm so sorry, but I like somebody else. I'm like, it's all good. Next day. Kept it kind of chill, but I was like, I waited too long. I'm convinced I would have been dating that girl till today if I didn't wait that long, you know, like, you
Theo Vaughn
should have done it a summer before.
Jay Shock
You mean exactly. Exactly.
Theo Vaughn
Dang, dude. Love is wild like that.
Jay Shock
Love is wild. She actually hit me up.
Theo Vaughn
But love has a time on the vine. Love has a time.
Jay Shock
She's a great person, great family.
Theo Vaughn
Love has a time on the vine where it gets ripe and then it falls off. You know what I'm saying?
Jay Shock
You think so?
Theo Vaughn
Yeah, I think so, man. You just told me. It's like.
Jay Shock
Well, I. I mean, you're right about.
Theo Vaughn
I think you told me that. I don't know.
Jay Shock
I haven't had a girlfriend in nine or 10 years. 20. 20, 18 was the last time I had a girlfriend.
Theo Vaughn
Really?
Jay Shock
Last time I did anything. Dang. Yeah.
Theo Vaughn
So you got. So you got love on the brain, though.
Jay Shock
I got.
Theo Vaughn
So you got a lot of love to give.
Jay Shock
I got a lot of love to give and trying to receive a man.
Theo Vaughn
Amen.
Jay Shock
You know?
Theo Vaughn
But when you put so much out there, man, your energy is so just like. I don't know, it makes me. I think it makes. It reminds people to just be themselves. You have to be the best that they can. Dude, I'll tell you this story. So one time we went to the beach and. Are you comfortable?
Jay Shock
Yes, sir.
Theo Vaughn
Okay. We went to the beach and it was like down in like Panama City or Destin or something. And at night, like, the kids would go walk out on the beach at night. Like that was the thing, you know, like if you were 14 or whatever, you. It was like right around that time, our parents like, yeah, you can go out of the beach, you know what I'm saying? Stay out of the. Stay out of the ocean or whatever, but go have, go have a good time. So during the day we would go sneak liquor or something, bury it out in the sand or whatever. Then we'd go find it and dig it up later at night and drink it out there.
Jay Shock
Okay.
Theo Vaughn
But anyway, one night I'm out there, my buddy had met some friends, he's talking to them. So I went. I was. I'm kind of walking down the beach and I met this gal. And so we start like, kind of talking and she's like, it's a full moon. She's talking about this full moon stuff. And then we end up like going out in the water and kind of like, kind of kissing or whatever a little bit. And so it was like, very romantic, you know. And then we come back and we go back like over by the hotel or the motel, whatever we're staying in. And we got into like the lights that were over there. And she was like 35 years old and I. And I was like 14 or what? And we just didn't realize, I think, like, because it was dark out there, we just didn't realize it was like such an age difference and bro. And so we just both like, looked at each other and we're like, what the heck? I think like the way the moonlight hit us, you just couldn't tell you
Jay Shock
hooked up with a cougar when you were 14.
Theo Vaughn
Yeah, brother. And I was just. I was out there on the beach just trying it, but it was just that, you know, when you're out there
Jay Shock
in the summer, that late night jam, that love everything.
Theo Vaughn
Everything sounds like love. Yes, everything sounds like love music too. Just the waves hitting the moon. Sounds like it just hit smell. Oh, the smell of seagulls eating raviolis.
Jay Shock
I know.
Theo Vaughn
The moon seems like it only came up just to watch people kiss, you know? Oh, you.
Jay Shock
You're getting like a painting of an image right now. I feel like we're at a beach, dude.
Theo Vaughn
It's beautiful, brother. Yeah, that's one thing about that love, like, especially at that Young love. There's just something about it, bro. When you'd be so nervous and you'd go to school, dude, that would be the craziest, bro.
Jay Shock
I would get butterflies every time I saw this girl.
Theo Vaughn
I would get fucking bald eagles in me.
Jay Shock
Little bald eagles.
Theo Vaughn
Yeah, they're flying around eating my intestines. That's how nervous I got. Like, I'd be standing there like this. There's nine parrots inside, huh?
Jay Shock
Throw up.
Theo Vaughn
Oh, dude, I threw up one time out of the window in class. This one girl was so beautiful, I just ran over to the window and just vomited.
Jay Shock
Right? That's crazy.
Theo Vaughn
Didn't even care. And it was some kid out there studying or whatever. Whatever. Screw him.
Jay Shock
I think now, looking back with that I've only been in one relationship. I think, like, oh, yeah. I always think, like, I wonder if she sees me.
Theo Vaughn
Oh, sees you now, like, having some of your success, doing your thing.
Jay Shock
Because I feel like someone has gone up to a bar. Like, yo, like, you ever see this dude? Be like, that's with my ex. And then I want that dude to be like, well, you. You messed up. You left up. You know, But I never wish, right?
Theo Vaughn
You're not wishing.
Jay Shock
You know, I've called her a million times. She never picked up. You know, she blocked my number, unblocked it. Haven't heard from her in, like, 10 years. And it's just like, block a clock. I want to see how you're doing. Block o clock.
Theo Vaughn
Yeah.
Jay Shock
Is that what you said?
Theo Vaughn
Yeah, dude, you got block o', clock, bro. The husband blocking, it's bad now.
Jay Shock
It's crazy, man.
Theo Vaughn
And what. How did things fall apart between you and her?
Jay Shock
I was immature, Mr. Vaughn. I was very immature.
Theo Vaughn
I feel like, dude, every time you call me Mr. Vaughn, I feel like I teach driver's ed. Dude, this is so good.
Jay Shock
Do you want me to call you Theo?
Theo Vaughn
Yeah.
Jay Shock
I feel bad.
Theo Vaughn
No, you can call me whatever you want.
Jay Shock
All right.
Theo Vaughn
But it's great, though. It just. It shows who you are, bro. You got a level of respect.
Jay Shock
So we were dating for a year and a half, and I just. I was immature. Like, I was stupid. I didn't know what I wanted to do in life. I wasn't like a man. I wasn't. I wasn't tough. I didn't have any priorities, you know, any. Any hobbies. Like, I was just any direction, you know? I mean, I like music. I. I made music. But I think she could. She sensed that. Like, she's like, I'm going to be A pharmacist in college. What are you going to do? I'm like, ah, I'll figure it out. I'll major in something.
Theo Vaughn
Yeah.
Jay Shock
So she went her way, I went my way and she broke up with me. But I think she cheated on me because she was. She kept bringing up like this other guy and I'm like, who the fuck is this? You know?
Theo Vaughn
Why keep bringing up Rick or whatever his name was. Ricky.
Jay Shock
Who?
Theo Vaughn
Was his name Ricky? Or not. I just guess names sometimes. It wasn't Ricky.
Jay Shock
Was it Tony?
Theo Vaughn
Oh, God.
Jay Shock
I think it was Tony.
Theo Vaughn
Of course it was Tony. Where was this at?
Jay Shock
When?
Theo Vaughn
Yeah, 10 years ago in Long Island. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, it was Tony.
Jay Shock
It was Tony, but I think she was hanging out with him type shit. And it was just weird because toward the end of the relationship, I wasn't seeing her that much. She was going out and she called me over one day to go to the beach and she came out with a blanket. Not a blanket, a hoodie. My hoodie.
Theo Vaughn
And there was a baby.
Jay Shock
A bracelet.
Theo Vaughn
And there was a baby in the hoodie.
Jay Shock
No, like E.T.
Theo Vaughn
no, like she had a baby with the other guy.
Jay Shock
With Tony, like looking like E.T. remember E.T.
Theo Vaughn
oh, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Jay Shock
No, there was no baby. I don't think there was.
Theo Vaughn
Oh, thank God.
Jay Shock
And it was all my shit. She's like, here. I'm like, why?
Theo Vaughn
You just had a little bit of stuff. She had it all wrapped up in a hoodie.
Jay Shock
All my stuff with my bracelet, I gave it back to her, we took a walk, I started crying, she started crying, and that was it. A couple months later we tried to get back together, but her mom passed away.
Theo Vaughn
Nuh.
Jay Shock
So I had to like, try to help her through it. And she was going through a lot of shit, man. So it just didn't work out. And ever since then, that's it.
Theo Vaughn
That's been it.
Jay Shock
The only love Shock's ever had.
Theo Vaughn
Damn.
Jay Shock
And now it's weird because I don't know if a girl likes me for, like, my status, if I even have a high status, or if. If they like me for who I am. And it's like I've been on different dating apps. I get matches, I don't get matches. And you don't know what's real. And it's just hard to find love. Cause I'm such a sociable person. I talk to everyone. Like we go to the bar or something. I'm talking to everyone. Girls, guys, making friends. And meanwhile these girls are approaching guys and I'm like, What the. Am I a brick wall? Am I invisible? Am I muted? It's like I can't land anything, you know?
Theo Vaughn
Do you ever feel like that? Do you feel like. Do you ever feel like you're always going to be alone? Is that a weird question?
Jay Shock
I. I've become comfortable with being alone because I'm grinding. Like, I'm just so hungry now to just literally.
Theo Vaughn
I saw you eat 12 nuggets. I saw you eat freaking 12 nuggets, dude.
Jay Shock
12 what?
Theo Vaughn
I saw you eat 12 nuggets somewhere.
Jay Shock
Well, nugget.
Theo Vaughn
Yeah, I was at Burger King, I think.
Jay Shock
Oh, I download. Dude.
Theo Vaughn
I saw you.
Jay Shock
Nuggets.
Theo Vaughn
I saw you eat those crown nuggets.
Jay Shock
Yeah, it looks like I ate it. It looks like I ate it. Oh, it's part of the magic.
Theo Vaughn
That's the magic of Hollywood.
Jay Shock
People think I'm eating all the food, but I'm really just putting it to the side, eating it after bringing it home, giving it to someone, you know.
Theo Vaughn
Oh, that's.
Jay Shock
There's not a lot of homeless people where I am, but if. If there is, I'll go out of my way and drop it off, you know?
Theo Vaughn
Well, these days, you got to find them. It's like, ever since. Yeah. Like, that Pokemon Go there was. They've had, like, a lot of competition out there, I feel like, because, dude, people were like, it's crazy when Pokemon
Jay Shock
Go, they're like a homeless Pokemon Go.
Theo Vaughn
But it's like, before Pokemon Go, we had homeless people. It was like they were the Pokemon Go. And then. And then they did. They even digitized, if so homeless. You. Like, what? Like, I used to have some. Now there's just. People would be, like, stepping over, like, get out of my way, homeless guy.
Jay Shock
I'm looking for.
Theo Vaughn
For a digital charizard, you know? So, yeah, things have just gotten different, man. But about the girls, you said that, like, now it's like, so now you have more popularity, right? So that's one thing that I think a recognizability. That's another thing that I like to say. So it's like you get recognizability, and then things do get a little bit confusing. But if you're a guy that's pretty close to their own feelings and close to their own emotions, I feel like you'd be able to clock pretty good if a girl is being real or not.
Jay Shock
Definitely.
Theo Vaughn
And then if you all also are just looking to have something casual, just a little, you know.
Jay Shock
A little something.
Theo Vaughn
Yeah, just a little something.
Jay Shock
Just a little down to Have a little something.
Theo Vaughn
Yeah. Just a little tickle.
Jay Shock
Trying.
Theo Vaughn
Yeah.
Jay Shock
Little cuddle session. Yeah.
Theo Vaughn
Just a little freaking pop in a Blu Ray.
Jay Shock
Yeah.
Theo Vaughn
A little dirty ravioli Blu Ray, bro.
Jay Shock
And a blue medicine Alfredo.
Theo Vaughn
Yeah, bro. You're walking. Playing with this little baby rattle I got in my pants here. That little. The freaking Lord's manicotti, bro. The third thumb, put it on the shoulder. Oh, dude.
Jay Shock
Hey, listen, I'm trying. I really am.
Theo Vaughn
Oh, I got the penis of a large toddler, brother. That's what I say.
Jay Shock
What a binky.
Theo Vaughn
Yeah. What are we talking about, dude? But. Yeah, dude. But you would be able to notice, bro, because I'm saying, if you're so much of a heart, which I think you know, that's who you are, right? You're so much of a guy who's, like, connected to the feelings. You're a real guy. You're gonna know if somebody's being real or not.
Jay Shock
Yeah, I've had. I went to this place in Port Washington, and there was a group of girls, like, all nines. I call them a nickel and four pennies. Nine out of nines. And it was like their birthday weekend or something. And me and my boy were out. It was me, my dad and my two friends, and we got a couple espresso martinis. I had, like a mocktail or something, and all these girls were out there talking to us. My friend was taking a shit in the bathroom from the espresso martini, missing out on all the action.
Theo Vaughn
Oh, there's always that guy.
Jay Shock
Yeah. My dad's talking to the bartender, and me and my boy are talking to all these girls, and they keep coming out like a stampede of girls. And we're talking. I'm talking to all of them. I'm talking to 10 girls at once.
Theo Vaughn
Jesus Christ. That movie, 300 or whatever, I could
Jay Shock
talk to infinite amount of girls at the same time. There's tons of it.
Theo Vaughn
Jacques, don't say that.
Jay Shock
I can.
Theo Vaughn
At the same time, I could. You said you can't even do math.
Jay Shock
Hey, how you doing? What's going on? Yeah, you good? Hey, I like your dress. You like it? I'm just on the fly. Anyway, one girl is like, what do you. I see you on TikTok. Like, you're famous, right? I'm like, I guess I'm not famous. I'm like, if you don't know me, I'm not famous. I don't like to say. I never like to say I'm famous or something like that, because I'm not. I like to say I'm just an example of what you could be. Yeah, you know. Cause that's being humble. Like God said that, you know, I'm just an example of what you could be. You're just an example of what I could be. You're like a mentor. Whatever.
Theo Vaughn
Because there's a lot of rumors out there. There's people that say you're Allen. I've heard you're Allen, one of Allen Iverson's kids. I've heard that before.
Jay Shock
I could be friggin Shaq's kid for all we know. I don't know Allen Iverson.
Theo Vaughn
That's what I've heard. There's a lot of rumors out there. I could shoot threes, bro. That's all. But anyway, but no, but also, I want to. Let me just. I'm trying to think of what else. Oh yeah, there's rumors that you were conceived during an episode of Jersey Shore. A reunion episode. You know, that's a. That's A.
Jay Shock
By who? Molly B. Huh?
Theo Vaughn
I have no idea, dude.
Jay Shock
Paulie D and Snooki. Or J. Wow. J, wow. Jay Shock. Oh, possibility, bro.
Theo Vaughn
That's a way possible.
Jay Shock
I had a crush on jwow like crazy.
Theo Vaughn
Oh, who didn't?
Jay Shock
Guys, diggity. Damn, bro, is that her? Who's she with now, huh?
Theo Vaughn
Damn, who's she with? Dude, she's with us, bro. In our dreams, bro.
Jay Shock
For real.
Theo Vaughn
Oh, dude, Her. A vodka sauce put me to sleep. Ronnie.
Jay Shock
God, is that Ronnie?
Theo Vaughn
Look, you got. We both got bad vision, dude. Whoever he is. How about this? We love her so much, we don't care if he stays around.
Jay Shock
We don't care.
Theo Vaughn
Yeah. Oh, that's Zach right there.
Jay Shock
Zach.
Theo Vaughn
That's Zach right there. Oh, you know what? Actually, I met him before. He's great. Great guy.
Jay Shock
Could I have this?
Theo Vaughn
Yeah, you can have it. You gonna take it home? You don't wanna have it now?
Jay Shock
Celsius. I'm gonna have a heart attack. I can't drink caffeine or energy drinks. You could do it. Take a sip.
Theo Vaughn
Take a couple. I can't believe your friend was at the bar.
Jay Shock
Yeah, no, I was talking to the girls. That's freaking amazing.
Theo Vaughn
That's crazy. I'll have a little with you.
Jay Shock
Can we do a little cheers? Yeah, it's a Celsius o'. Clock.
Theo Vaughn
Do we have to look the same at each other or not?
Jay Shock
Sipping. It's chocolate. Gosh, that's really good, dude. Okay, so this is now this girl that does have caffeine in it, man.
Theo Vaughn
He'll be fine. How much caffeine can you have before we get.
Jay Shock
I'm not gonna have that much before
Theo Vaughn
we gotta pick you up or whatever. How much can you have?
Jay Shock
This is. I normally have, like, a quarter.
Theo Vaughn
Okay. Do I need to monitor it or. You can monitor it.
Jay Shock
I got it.
Theo Vaughn
Okay.
Jay Shock
You see me pass out? Well, no.
Theo Vaughn
Yeah. Well, yeah. I don't care if you pass out.
Jay Shock
Start twitching.
Theo Vaughn
No, I don't. I just don't want you hump in the first. I don't care if you. If you pass out. You're fine. We got. You know, I think Trevin's registered CPR or whatever, at least he learned online, but. Yeah, I just don't want you ruining these throw pillows.
Jay Shock
No, I'm not. I'm not.
Theo Vaughn
Okay.
Jay Shock
She is asking me how much money I'm making. Like, like, she's like, how many views do you get? Like, did the money come from the views and all this stuff? I'm like, I'm not telling you that. Like, I don't talk about money like that. And like, like, I was.
Theo Vaughn
Was it one of those View Diggers? Yes, there's a lot of those View Diggers, dude. Yeah, Few diggers are the worst, bro.
Jay Shock
For real. Oh, I. That's a. That's a good term. Like, that, like, they have the gold version, then you have the view version.
Theo Vaughn
Oh, yeah. View diggers are the worst, bro.
Jay Shock
I'm like, clout chaser.
Theo Vaughn
Yeah.
Jay Shock
You know?
Theo Vaughn
Yeah.
Jay Shock
And I got like, four of their numbers.
Theo Vaughn
So you were interested then.
Jay Shock
And I was like, which one do you want to go on a date with me? And they raised their hand and I. I like, all right, let's go get sushi. Nothing ever happened. That's how everything always happens. I go. I get the confidence. Ask her out. We go nowhere. That's how it happens, dude.
Theo Vaughn
I frickin met this girl, I'll tell you this. Not even that long ago. And she texted me, and then I guess I messed up. Let's do one more little cheers. I kind of enjoyed that. Dude. Bro, I feel like I'm watching. Dude, do it one more time. I feel like I'm watching your video.
Jay Shock
Choco clock.
Theo Vaughn
Choco clock.
Jay Shock
You really gotta make a noise when you sip it, too. Whoa.
Theo Vaughn
A little gargle at the end, huh? The old Italian mating call. I'm good, brother.
Jay Shock
Let's pass out.
Theo Vaughn
You only get one more sip. Okay.
Jay Shock
Okay. One more Later.
Theo Vaughn
And you can't have it too close to bed either, so good. I know.
Jay Shock
What are the flavor, huh?
Theo Vaughn
I don't know. I think this is antipasta or whatever. We got something special because we knew
Jay Shock
a little mortadella flavor.
Theo Vaughn
Yeah, we knew we'd have some Italians in here today, brother. Oh, yeah, we got some gnocchi.
Jay Shock
Hell yeah, dude.
Theo Vaughn
Oh, I was telling you this story about a freaking date or something. Yeah, dude. And I said, this girl, we end up texting. And then I sent her. I was just having, like a day. Like, sometimes I like sending voice notes better than text. Do you ever do that?
Jay Shock
Oh, hell yeah. Or like a you voice. The. The text message. I'll type it out for you. But the voice memo is good because they like to hear your voice. Yeah, I heard girls like that, dude.
Theo Vaughn
I frickin heard girls like that too. And so I sent this girl one and I sent this girl one. And dude. And it was like I was. You ever noticed when you're just in your bag when you're talking, you're like, oh, dude, I'm feeling good. I'm confident. Everything's good. I sent her, like a nice voice note. It was funny and everything. Nothing.
Jay Shock
Damn.
Theo Vaughn
Nothing.
Jay Shock
Unbelievable. Did you fart in the voice memo?
Theo Vaughn
No, I just was normal.
Jay Shock
You didn't, like, sound like deeper high? What did you say?
Theo Vaughn
Oh, I told her. I said I met this Christian water skiing group and I was at a lake last week and that I. And it was fun and that. Yeah, things were going pretty well and that. And then. Oh, I asked her. Yeah, I said, do you have a husband or anything? Because I didn't know she had a husband. Because I didn't want to be messaging someone that had a husband.
Jay Shock
That's like, you got to call. There's certain. If you say that, that's saved forever. I like the call. You don't want to have anything saved on voice or tossed.
Theo Vaughn
But what did I say that was wrong? You just said it. Do the voice note. You said you liked it. No, but I said, do you have a husband? I don't want to be messaging some lady that have a husband. That's what I was saying.
Jay Shock
I think he was going blind. Figure it out. Find out.
Theo Vaughn
What do you mean? That's what I did. And I didn't get sh. Nothing I didn't figure out. I figured it out that. That she was not interested, I guess.
Jay Shock
I don't know.
Theo Vaughn
But I don't know. I sent a nice voice to it. She wasn't into it.
Jay Shock
Yeah.
Theo Vaughn
So it's okay. We don't need to feel bad about it.
Jay Shock
She missed out.
Theo Vaughn
She missed out, right?
Jay Shock
You know what I say?
Theo Vaughn
I don't feel bad about it.
Jay Shock
They can't see greatness. Oh, so why should you settle for less?
Theo Vaughn
Well, yeah, if you can't see greatness, baby. I'm like, look, I can't. I ain't buying you glasses, girl. You know?
Jay Shock
Anyway, dang. What else?
Theo Vaughn
Oh, what else? Dude, I got to know a little bit more about the origin story because there was so many rumors. Oh, so many rumors. Dude, there was ones that you were, like, conceived near power lines. That was one. There was one. I'm trying to think. What else? Oh, you were like a data center baby or whatever. Yeah, that's a big rumor going around that you're a data center baby. That, like, if you crack you open, you'd have a bunch of data in your neck or whatever.
Jay Shock
Could be. Could be a robot, a bunch of
Theo Vaughn
recipes or bunch of episodes of euphoria in your neck or whatever.
Jay Shock
Or something like Italian rainbow cookies in me. Dude.
Theo Vaughn
Bro, that be so good, bro.
Jay Shock
It's just coming up. Canolies come out of me.
Theo Vaughn
It's just a bunch of brave canolies come out. Oh, that be so good, though, dude. Bro, you could be an Italian superhero. I could see you being an Italian superhero because we need a new one. Who's the latest one?
Jay Shock
Who's a what?
Theo Vaughn
Who's the latest Italian superhero? Maybe Pauly D. And Vinnie. Who's the latest one? Has there ever been an Italian superhero?
Jay Shock
Tony Soprano could be it. Who the hell is an Italian? Is. Is Iron Man Italian?
Theo Vaughn
I don't know. Iron Rob? Iron Tony Stark.
Jay Shock
No, that's not Iron.
Theo Vaughn
Sounds like Dutch or whatever.
Jay Shock
Oh, no. Bruce Banner. That's got to be Italian.
Theo Vaughn
Bruce Banner.
Jay Shock
Yeah, that's German. Banner's. German Banner.
Theo Vaughn
But he was green. He wasn't green during the day.
Jay Shock
What Marvel character is Italian?
Theo Vaughn
Yeah, our Italians being fairly represented in the Marvel Universe. Look that up. Are Italians being fairly represented in the Marvel Universe? In the Marvel Universe? Because if not, we'll leave. You feel me?
Jay Shock
Who is this?
Theo Vaughn
Italian representation in the Marvel Universe is a mixed bag, viewed by many fans and cultural critics as historically lacking in depth. While Italian American characters like the Punisher, Frank Cassidy.
Jay Shock
Oh, yeah, the Punisher.
Theo Vaughn
Not bad.
Jay Shock
He's awesome. Have you seen that show?
Theo Vaughn
Oh, dude. Yeah, people admire him a lot. You see, people are making Halloween costumes out of him.
Jay Shock
He's awesome, men. He was in the Walking Dead originally.
Theo Vaughn
He's a great. Yeah. Oh, he's a great actor. But what else did it say about the Italians? I Wanted to read a little bit more of that because that's a great question. Our iconic direct Italian nationality is often neglected of mobsters like count nefarious stereotypes or occasional background characters. Wow.
Jay Shock
Right? Right.
Theo Vaughn
There are very few major Italian or Italian American superheroes.
Jay Shock
Huh? You could see that?
Theo Vaughn
Yeah.
Jay Shock
Any one of those words.
Theo Vaughn
He's got it zoomed in pretty good. That's probably a 56 font.
Jay Shock
I don't know how I drive.
Theo Vaughn
Damn. You were allowed to drive? Yeah, bro.
Jay Shock
I mean, like something is gonna be that size on the road.
Theo Vaughn
I wouldn't let you drive a Doberman, homie.
Jay Shock
I drive. I haven't been in an accident. Knock on whatever. God forbid.
Theo Vaughn
Really?
Jay Shock
I have a. Yeah, I drove a normal car, but now I drive a Tesla because it drives for you.
Theo Vaughn
Oh, it's so nice.
Jay Shock
So like, if you want to have some fun on the way home when a. When a shoddy, you put it in self driving.
Theo Vaughn
But bro, if you put it in self driving, you put your feet up like that, bro.
Jay Shock
Do anything you want, man.
Theo Vaughn
That's pretty legendary, bro.
Jay Shock
I just like this.
Theo Vaughn
I love how everything's a carnival ride to you, dude. You could be sitting in anything. You're just like wee. Yeah, this is it, bro.
Jay Shock
It's fast as hell, dude.
Theo Vaughn
Holy shit. What are you fucking 90 years old there, bro? That don't even look. Look like you, dude.
Jay Shock
90?
Theo Vaughn
What is this? AIG, dude, what app did they use?
Jay Shock
That's a shock GPT,
Theo Vaughn
bro. Bro, you need to shock his stem cells, Bro, your shit is. Bro, this isn't fucking real. What are we doing here? This shit is. What are you. What are you driving through a ruckus Pep rally, dude, where are you?
Jay Shock
I was in a random parking lot.
Theo Vaughn
Are you sure? Dude, this looks like one of the nights scenes in. No, in Breath of the Wild, it looks like you're driving through. Where you driving through? Right there. That's not even real.
Jay Shock
The game, Breath of the Wild. The game?
Theo Vaughn
Yeah.
Jay Shock
You played that?
Theo Vaughn
Yeah, I played that game. I like that game. I didn't like the second one that
Jay Shock
they made the of the kingdom.
Theo Vaughn
Yeah, it just was too much. We had to put rims on the freaking. They wanted you to put.
Jay Shock
You had to build. I know. Those are really good games though.
Theo Vaughn
Oh, they were great games. But. But you had to put rims on the.
Jay Shock
I know what you're talking about.
Theo Vaughn
Like the boat or whatever. Like the. Yeah, yes, yeah.
Jay Shock
The craft. Like.
Theo Vaughn
Yeah, like that. They want you to buy rims in this. I'm like, this shit's getting a little too urban.
Jay Shock
I love video games so much, man. I think part of me, like the lore is from cartoons and video games. Why I'm so sociable because I love colorful things. I like things that move. I like animation. I love animation. You ever see that spider verse movie?
Theo Vaughn
There's a new one that just came out. There's a new spider man, that just came out. I know my friends going to see it.
Jay Shock
Spider verse, You'll. You'll trip out without even doing anything. It just makes you go crazy.
Theo Vaughn
Yeah, I got a. I didn't even seen it. Spider verse, dude.
Jay Shock
It's unreal. One of my favorite movies.
Theo Vaughn
Yeah, dude, we just got to learn more about the lore because there was all kind of stuff I heard that you wouldn't. You were not even conceived. You just spawned out of the chimney of like, a Buca di Beppa or something.
Jay Shock
I've heard a lot of crazy that's on Shockopedia. Where did you find.
Theo Vaughn
I just heard this stuff, dude. I heard that they just found you. Like, you were just in a bassinet in the. Like, in like a. In like one of those dishwashing, like, things at a. At a macaroni grill. They just found you in there.
Jay Shock
I mean, at this point, I might have been dropped off by a freaking ufo.
Theo Vaughn
Yeah, dude, I like that.
Jay Shock
Who knows?
Theo Vaughn
Who knows? There's just a lot of good. But that's the best is the lore, bro. Is just finding out, like, how it started, you know?
Jay Shock
Yeah.
Theo Vaughn
Because. Yeah, there's all kinds of stuff. There's rooms.
Jay Shock
You just crazy.
Theo Vaughn
Yeah. You weren't even born. You just climbed out of an ant hill in Sicily or whatever. You know, there's all kind of like crazy rumors out there, you know, I
Jay Shock
never been to Italy.
Theo Vaughn
You haven't?
Jay Shock
You've been to Italy? I never outside the country.
Theo Vaughn
No way, dude.
Jay Shock
Because my mom has a bad equilibrium, so she doesn't fly anywhere. Like, man up this, man. Look at this frickin wow. Freaking. What would you call that superhero name this guy.
Theo Vaughn
But that doesn't even look like you. That doesn't, does it?
Jay Shock
No, that. I know that picture.
Theo Vaughn
So. But. But yeah. So take me back to. Let's go back a little, right? Take me back to when the shock o' clock was at zero. Right?
Jay Shock
Like when I was born. Yeah, okay. I was born April 9, 1999, and
Theo Vaughn
I heard you stayed in the incubator for like 40 seconds. You were like, I'm out.
Jay Shock
You know, like the hand solo freezer. They had me in that because I was too. I was too hot when I came out. They got struck by lightning when I came out. Put me there to cool me down in that. I was frozen like this. Yeah, as a baby
Theo Vaughn
bro. That's perfect, dude. You know, in the past, I. I felt like I was just too hesitant to invest. I always was just kind of holding my money and going to work, you know, And I was like, well, I'll put it in next week or let me do some research. And then. Jay Shock
I don't know my earliest memory, but I know like kindergarten. I was looking at paper like this and they called my parents to school. They're like, your son can't see shit. He's looking at the paper like it's like a Playboy.
Theo Vaughn
Oh, damn, bro. But you think you were seeing anything or you think you thought there was something on it and you just didn't?
Jay Shock
No, no, I couldn't see. So now, oh, damn. I didn't bring them. I should have brought them. And they're like, they had to test my eyesight and see, like, what was going on.
Theo Vaughn
And could you see anything?
Jay Shock
I I just. It was bad.
Theo Vaughn
It was like a worm or something. Because worms can't even see. Can a worm see? Look that up.
Jay Shock
A worm. Yeah, a worm.
Theo Vaughn
Like, you know what I'm saying? How much could you see?
Jay Shock
I mean, I could see. I just can't see little things.
Theo Vaughn
Okay.
Jay Shock
Yeah.
Theo Vaughn
So you can't see the haters, then.
Jay Shock
I was born with, like, a really, really rare condition, which is why I can't see or hear that good. You want me to say what it is?
Theo Vaughn
Yeah. Is it all right?
Jay Shock
Kenny, like, from South Park? Kenny. Kenny Caffey syndrome.
Theo Vaughn
Kenny Caffey.
Jay Shock
Kenny Caffey syndrome. It's so rare.
Theo Vaughn
I thought he fucking played for the Mets. Kenny Caffe.
Jay Shock
It sounds like a freaking rap artist. Yo, Kenny Caffy's dropping a new mixtape next week.
Theo Vaughn
It sounds like a rap artist out of Buffalo. Dude.
Jay Shock
Dude, the doctors, they don't even know what I have. Like, it's.
Theo Vaughn
They don't. Dude, like, he's got Kenny C. You know?
Jay Shock
Yeah, it's got Kenny Ca.
Theo Vaughn
Yeah, they're just naming. He's like. He's like. He's got Benny Ogbiani, you know, arms or whatever does name and from the past, you know?
Jay Shock
Oh, my God, man.
Theo Vaughn
Wow. Kenny Caffeine syndrome is classified as primary bone dysplasia. Oh, dysplasia, dude, my buddy's Australian shepherd has that.
Jay Shock
It's a growth. It's a growth hormone deficiency.
Theo Vaughn
That's a hip thing, huh? Sometimes it can be in your hips, too, I think. Meaning it is a disorder of how bones form and grow.
Jay Shock
Yeah, I don't produce growth hormone because I have an underdeveloped pituitary gland, and I don't produce calcium, so I got to take all different. Like, I have to take injections for that, and I have to take pills or else I'll have a seizure and fucking die, which is what almost happened when I was seven or eight.
Theo Vaughn
Did they know. When. Did they know you had cancer?
Jay Shock
When I was born. When I was born. Because when I'm born, how they tell.
Theo Vaughn
How they get you. How they. How they get you to admit it, because I don't think you're a snitch. What happened?
Jay Shock
I was an oversized baby. I was, like, frigging 8 to 10 pounds. And people that have my condition are big babies and their eyes look a little bit weirder. But I.
Theo Vaughn
Out the gate. They knew you had it.
Jay Shock
Oh, they. They knew? I mean, no. No, they didn't know. They probably diagnosed me with it from different things.
Theo Vaughn
Because you probably didn't admit you have it.
Jay Shock
Do you? Because I had a seizure. That's what happened. I had a seizure when I was, like, 1 or 2 years old. And then when I was 7, that was the first.
Theo Vaughn
That was the actual Jay shock.
Jay Shock
Why'd I do that? It's dark that bad.
Theo Vaughn
But, hey, out of dark comes light.
Jay Shock
Yes, sir.
Theo Vaughn
Let's go. Amen, brother.
Jay Shock
Amen. But when I was seven, I was sick, like, really sick, and I was throwing up all my medication, and that night, I used to watch movies with my mom and fall asleep, and I slept in her room that night. And thank God. I think that I would have died. I legitimately would have died because I had a seizure and I woke up in a hospital. But when I was having a seizure, she, like. I was, like, you know, shaking, and she caught me and called the ambulance, called my neighbor, and I woke up in a hospital. Like, what happened? She's like, you had a seizure?
Theo Vaughn
Oh.
Jay Shock
And that was when we had to talk about, you know, getting better medication and making sure that I don't mess. Because I was sick. Like, I was very sick, and I was throwing up, and my. The doctor was like, he'll be fine.
Theo Vaughn
Yeah, he just had a bad ravioli or whatever.
Jay Shock
Died then. That's okay.
Theo Vaughn
Yeah, he just been.
Jay Shock
Yeah, that's what happened.
Theo Vaughn
Don't put any more gravy in his bottle or whatever.
Jay Shock
Exactly.
Theo Vaughn
God, that's crazy, dude, man. Thank you, Debbie. Right?
Jay Shock
Thank you, Debbie.
Theo Vaughn
Thank you, Debbie. Mama shock for being there, man. Wow.
Jay Shock
Crazy, right?
Theo Vaughn
A mother's love that she just wanted you there with her that night. That's pretty special, man.
Jay Shock
I cracked my skull open two times.
Theo Vaughn
Nah, with what?
Jay Shock
My head. I fell off a stage.
Theo Vaughn
Oh, I thought you meant with something like some crazy guy or whatever.
Jay Shock
Like a lightning bolt.
Theo Vaughn
Yeah. Like, look, I'm a pinata and just hit you.
Jay Shock
Watch.
Theo Vaughn
Yeah, yeah.
Jay Shock
Take a Rolex and slam it on my head.
Theo Vaughn
Yeah.
Jay Shock
Oh.
Theo Vaughn
What the.
Jay Shock
But no, I was on a stage playing a game on a Christmas party.
Theo Vaughn
Wait, what happened? So take me and how you break it. Wait, wait, what's. What happened?
Jay Shock
Well, one. One, I fell down the stairs of the kid. And then two, I fell off of a stage. I was sitting, like, backwards like this, and we were playing, like, a little basketball game where you flick it and it's true to the thing. I must have flicked too hard and I fucking fell back.
Theo Vaughn
Dang.
Jay Shock
Cracked my skull up, and it was bad, dude. Still remember that. You ever have those. Those moments of pain where you could still feel them today? Oh, bro, I could still feel my head hitting that. That tile, man.
Theo Vaughn
Yeah, I was jumping around on something when I was a kid. I jumped in this corner of my head, hit something, broke it open, and sometimes I can still feel it a little bit.
Jay Shock
Damn. And I have a weird shaped head. I don't know if you notice this. You could put your finger there.
Theo Vaughn
Let me see. Oh.
Jay Shock
And a lot of people online say it's a headset.
Theo Vaughn
Then let me tell you. Let me do it one more time. Is that it? Ooh. Wow. That's cool.
Jay Shock
Yeah.
Theo Vaughn
That's a shock button. Huh?
Jay Shock
The shock button.
Theo Vaughn
Yeah. Hey, don't press this. It's like, hey, you should get one of those things, like, on the top of a ladder. It's like, don't. Not a step or whatever.
Jay Shock
Yeah, that's it. That's my head.
Theo Vaughn
Damn. Shock. So what do you have to do? Do you get that filled in or whatever?
Jay Shock
My head or.
Theo Vaughn
Yeah. Like, what do you do? Do you put, like, a hardener in there or something? Like, how do you get it to. Or you got to protect that spot at all costs.
Jay Shock
No, no, just. Just there. I mean, I wish I could chisel
Theo Vaughn
it up a little bit, but it's exposed, though. A little.
Jay Shock
Is it?
Theo Vaughn
No, I mean, you can't see it, but if you feel around.
Jay Shock
Yeah.
Theo Vaughn
Feel like you can find that one kind of entry point. You know what I'm talking about?
Jay Shock
Yeah.
Theo Vaughn
Like. You know what I'm saying? Like, I don't want to. You know what I'm saying?
Jay Shock
Like, I think I could put a quarter right there. It would sit there.
Theo Vaughn
Yeah.
Jay Shock
Like, this would. This wouldn't move.
Theo Vaughn
Oh, that's good, huh?
Jay Shock
Right?
Theo Vaughn
Yeah. Let's go. Shock city, dude. So. But. And then how does your hearing get bad?
Jay Shock
So throwing through, like, grade school, middle school, like, I had to get, like, enlarged textbooks. I had to give a little. Little step stool to put my feet on because they would still. They would dangle. They still freaking dangle. And around your legs seem long to me, man. Yeah, my neck's long.
Theo Vaughn
Bro, your neck is just your head's leg.
Jay Shock
Exactly. And I kept saying, what? And I couldn't hear very good. And we had to take an audiologist test.
Theo Vaughn
How did you know you couldn't hear very good? Do you remember?
Jay Shock
I was just saying, what a lot. And I wasn't getting good notes in class because I was missing a lot. I'm like, what did you say? It was crazy. I remember the first time I got hearing aids and they put them in. I Cried.
Theo Vaughn
Oh.
Jay Shock
Because I was like, man, I never. Goosebumps. I never heard like, this, you know?
Theo Vaughn
Oh, really? You could hear stuff?
Jay Shock
Yeah. Different frequency. Different like, you know, hi hat and a. And a music. A little symbol. Like, I heard that. Like, birds chirping.
Theo Vaughn
And you'd never known the. So. And you had never really conceptualized. Yeah. Because how would you.
Jay Shock
Like, I've heard them, but I forgot what they sounded like, because even, like, music, like, I was so unclear. And now when I put a headphone on, like, it's better. I can't wear AirPods, because if I take these out. We should do a hearing exam right now. Yeah.
Theo Vaughn
Can I. Can I put one in?
Jay Shock
What do you say?
Theo Vaughn
Yeah, sorry. Can I put one in?
Jay Shock
If it doesn't fall on your ear. Be careful. I don't want it to fall on your ear.
Theo Vaughn
Oh, you got these little.
Jay Shock
That's the right one. That's the right one.
Theo Vaughn
That's these little black olives, homie. Little sound cannolis.
Jay Shock
Just put it up to your ear. Can you hear me? Is it in?
Theo Vaughn
Yeah.
Jay Shock
Can you hear louder?
Theo Vaughn
Yeah, dude. Right, bro, I can hear you.
Jay Shock
Is it, like, a lot louder?
Theo Vaughn
I'm hearing. I'm getting a lot of reverb, too. I'm getting some other shit, too. I think it's some Chris Brown that's coming in.
Jay Shock
Could you hear Allen Iverson?
Theo Vaughn
I'm getting. Yeah, I can hear Allen Iverson saying, you're late for dinner. He's pissed at you.
Jay Shock
Could you hear the alien? The shack?
Theo Vaughn
I can hear Mike Piazza. He's complaining about something or he's denying something.
Jay Shock
A thunderstorm.
Theo Vaughn
I can hear a thunderstorm. I can hear that movie frequency playing. What else? Oh, I can hear about 70 fire trucks.
Jay Shock
Hear the parrots Shock.
Theo Vaughn
Eclair. I can hear them. Yeah, they're all there, dude. There they are. They just showed up.
Jay Shock
You summoned them, bro.
Theo Vaughn
You are not of this world, Jay Shock.
Jay Shock
I'm not of this world? Is that what you said?
Theo Vaughn
Oh, yeah. You can't hear me. Sorry, I thought you were messing with me. You, bro, put it in. And I'll tell you something. What the. Is going on, dude? Okay, dude, first of all, you need it. You. You're picking up, like, 70 different houses around here.
Jay Shock
Like, I'm picking up planets.
Theo Vaughn
Yeah, bro.
Jay Shock
Oh, solar system.
Theo Vaughn
I could hear somebody putting in their Paramount plus password like this in there. I couldn't even hear it, dude.
Jay Shock
Netflix logging.
Theo Vaughn
Yeah, yeah, I just heard you got two text messages from Lacy you didn't reply to. I heard like 70 things all at once, bro. It's too much, dude. Bro, that was a lot, bro.
Jay Shock
You know the best thing though? I. When I take them out, I can't hear anything. So when I go to sleep, I just crash. I don't hear alarms. Matter of fact, coming here, I almost missed a flight because. So when I. When I slept.
Theo Vaughn
Dude, what do you mean almost the flight? Just hire 50 Eagles. You Gooner.
Jay Shock
I know, right? To take me. I slept on a pillow, like on a couch. The whole week I was at in Cali, and the pillow was here and the phone was here. I didn't hear the alarm. I slept through it. I slept through it. Mr. Vaughn. And I almost didn't come in.
Theo Vaughn
Mr. Vaughn. Am I somebody's stepdad?
Jay Shock
Theo. Theo. Theo.
Theo Vaughn
Thanks. It's okay. I accept.
Jay Shock
Mr. Vaughn.
Theo Vaughn
It just hurts.
Jay Shock
I missed the Uber. I didn't hear him knock on the door. I wake up and I'm like, you gotta call in the Uber. We're not gonna make it. I miss the alarm. I slept right through. Cause I can't hear shit.
Theo Vaughn
But how good do you sleep, brother?
Jay Shock
Excellent. Oh, but not really though. I don't get sleep. Cause I can't sleep. I'm up all night till like 5am 5:30.
Theo Vaughn
What are you doing? What do you mean? Why?
Jay Shock
Oh, I stream till like one or two and then I'm just editing or coming up with new content ideas and just studying like work, other people's work, and trying to make my own thing, you know?
Theo Vaughn
Dude, you're the best, man.
Jay Shock
So are you.
Theo Vaughn
Thanks, bro.
Jay Shock
Mr. Theo.
Theo Vaughn
Hey, Mr. Shock.
Jay Shock
Mr. Shock. What was so. The hearing aids? Yeah.
Theo Vaughn
Yeah. Dude, that's fascinating. I never got to. I never got to hear him before. Did it make you feel any type of way? Like, was it hard to develop, like, pause? Like, did it affect how you felt about yourself? Some of that stuff or.
Jay Shock
No, like, how I felt. Yeah, but other people.
Theo Vaughn
Yeah, just like, did it affect like how you felt about yourself? Like, the fact you had to have a hearing aid?
Jay Shock
So I used to wear the over the ear ones. And that was like pretty obvious. Like when I was. I had them when I had a girlfriend and we would. When we would make out, it would just be like, it would sound like this. And we're getting like, we're getting out of business. And you go.
Theo Vaughn
She's like, upload me some wiener.
Jay Shock
Uploading Nana.
Theo Vaughn
So I had to like take them out, download it.
Jay Shock
So I couldn't even hear this girl moan when I. When I, you know, it Was like. I was like. She was moaning. I was like, one more time. She hit the. You know, I'm like, one more time, you know,
Theo Vaughn
Chuck o'.
Jay Shock
Clock. Oh, yeah. No. I felt a little bit uncomfortable for a while wearing them, but I got used to it, you know.
Theo Vaughn
Yeah.
Jay Shock
The more mature and everything. I'll tell you a crazy story. I played rugby in college.
Theo Vaughn
What?
Jay Shock
Yes.
Theo Vaughn
Where did you go to school?
Jay Shock
Online.
Theo Vaughn
How in the fuck did you play rugby in college, bro?
Jay Shock
I swear to God. Look it up. Look it up. Malloy University, Beloit. You're not gonna find it. It's on my Instagram, like, way.
Theo Vaughn
You're not gonna find.
Jay Shock
It's on my Instagram. Instagram way down. You'll see it. A picture of me. I played the number 15 spot.
Theo Vaughn
Fuck, yeah.
Jay Shock
And it was all the way on the end. And we had an alumni game, the first game we played. And I wore my over the ear hearing aid like an idiot. Theo. I rocked this kid so hard that I poked an ear in my eardrum.
Theo Vaughn
You poked a hole in your.
Jay Shock
With a hearing aid.
Theo Vaughn
You poked a hole in your eardrum and.
Jay Shock
Yes, with the hearing aid. I decked him and the hearing aid pushed in and poked a hole. I was able. Cause I vaped at the time. I was able to blow smoke out of my ear.
Theo Vaughn
No way.
Jay Shock
I have the clip. Yeah, I have a clip of me and it was come out of my ear.
Theo Vaughn
Oh, dude. In Syracuse, New York. That's a mating call. Blowing vape smoke out of one of your ear holes.
Jay Shock
Where in Syracuse? Oh, my God.
Theo Vaughn
That's a mating call over there, brother.
Jay Shock
I know, it's crazy. I played a lot of different sports. Wait, you found it. You see that, bro?
Theo Vaughn
That's nothing, bro. That's how you hail a taxi in Norfolk, Virginia, bro. This blowing a little vape smoke.
Jay Shock
It's like a Thomas the Tank Engine.
Theo Vaughn
Yeah, dude.
Jay Shock
I love that. Now we gotta get a pair, man.
Theo Vaughn
Bro, let me tell you this as a gift. Will you let me get you one?
Jay Shock
It's gotta be green, bro.
Theo Vaughn
I think they only come like that. And you can only have a little more. Okay.
Jay Shock
I think I'm feeling it, Mr. Krabs.
Theo Vaughn
I feel like we've done good job so far. Do you guys feel like that? It's been really cool. Yeah, it's been fun and it's been awesome, and it's been informative, man. And I think the best thing, man, about our conversation so far is I think I get a real feel for who you are.
Jay Shock
Thank you.
Theo Vaughn
As a Person. I don't know. It's just cool, man.
Jay Shock
We haven't gotten into, like, this how I got into, like, content. More.
Theo Vaughn
We're gonna get that. That's exactly. We're gonna head. We're about to head into streamer. You. We're gonna spot to start in the content, so. But yeah, man. I just think you start to get a feeling of who somebody else. And I think it just makes me feel excited that there's people in the world who still feel or still just trying to be themselves, you know?
Jay Shock
Right.
Theo Vaughn
And I think we're all just trying to be ourselves.
Jay Shock
Yes.
Theo Vaughn
Oh, dude, I have to tell you about this. I can't. Before we move on, shout out to my friend. His name is Solomon Williams. He is a rugby player, and he played on Cal Rugby. He won the national player of the year. I just want to bring a picture of him up. This. This. Their whole family's great.
Jay Shock
Definitely not better than me.
Theo Vaughn
You heard him, bro. He's challenged you. No, no, he's right there in the middle. He's the other one.
Jay Shock
Jesus.
Theo Vaughn
Yeah, he's that one.
Jay Shock
That guy.
Theo Vaughn
Yeah. So. And if you just. Just seen that picture of those guys, you might not have picked him out of those guys.
Jay Shock
He played rugby.
Theo Vaughn
Oh, dude. He's the number one player in the country.
Jay Shock
List that jawline of a rugby player.
Theo Vaughn
One of the best guys. That's. That guy's one of the best. Shout out. Shout out. Cal Rugby. Fair play, Teddy. Boys. But anyway, you told me that, dude. And he popped into my head, bro.
Jay Shock
It's funny.
Theo Vaughn
Oh, and just before we move on, you really played rugby?
Jay Shock
Yes, I did.
Theo Vaughn
And did you guys practice and train and everything?
Jay Shock
I tried practicing. I couldn't even run half a mile.
Theo Vaughn
What?
Jay Shock
We had to go, like, run to the fence and back. I. I would be tripping, falling, like. I. My stamina is terrible. You ever see me run?
Theo Vaughn
I saw you stream of you from
Jay Shock
here to the chair.
Theo Vaughn
All right.
Jay Shock
And look at this floor. You know, it's like.
Theo Vaughn
Let me see it again. Hold on. I don't know if it's duck. All right, try one more time. Give it one more time for me. Just. I want to make sure we got this, huh? Let's try. Come over there. Because I feel kind of what you're saying about the ducking, but I don't know if I. All right. I feel it's like a. Like a dad that had, like, a. One more time. Sorry, I think. I can't remember. Good. That's okay.
Jay Shock
Oh, there's A camera there, that one.
Theo Vaughn
You look like somebody that's like left something somewhere. Every time you run it looks like somebody that left something somewhere and they're going to get it.
Jay Shock
Is that camera good?
Theo Vaughn
I don't know. It's like a peek at it.
Jay Shock
Yeah, but so I can't run.
Theo Vaughn
Well then how do you play rugby?
Jay Shock
Then I ran.
Theo Vaughn
He figured it out.
Jay Shock
I just, I could hit people hard like. Okay, you know, I got it.
Theo Vaughn
Oh, jack shot. Oh, dude. Bro, if I could.
Jay Shock
The shock.
Theo Vaughn
If I could jerk off with those arms, bro, I wouldn't leave the house.
Jay Shock
Dude. Spraying up.
Theo Vaughn
What are we even talking about?
Jay Shock
Sorry.
Theo Vaughn
Dude. You're, you're of age, right?
Jay Shock
I'm 27.
Theo Vaughn
Oh great. We're good there. Here we're just a couple of Italian guys. You know what I'm saying? We're just a couple of out of work Italians. That's all we are.
Jay Shock
I don't know. I, I, I wasn't. I'm athletic but like it's, it's, it's a lot of takes a lot of energy for me to like we walked here in Asheville around. I was dying. Yeah.
Theo Vaughn
You know, it can be a lot.
Jay Shock
I'm like this.
Theo Vaughn
What did you. But what was Yalls team name? The, the team name you played with the Malloy Rugby.
Jay Shock
Lions. Malloy Lions.
Theo Vaughn
Oh yeah, the Lions.
Jay Shock
That's good. Yeah.
Theo Vaughn
Brisbane Lions. I was a fan of theirs, but they are Australian football. But. All right. So if you could go back in time. Is there a sport that now when looking back strategically based on you and your abilities, you think you would have been great at. If you'd applied yourself. Is there one?
Jay Shock
I think basketball I probably had the best shot because I was really good at shooting threes. A couple clips of me playing basketball at Dream of you. But I love basketball. Football is too small for baseball. Was. Baseball is another one though. Like Little League. Like that shit, man.
Theo Vaughn
Dude, your strike zones are the size of a Zen can.
Jay Shock
These.
Theo Vaughn
No, your strike zone probably the size of a damn Zen can, dude.
Jay Shock
Yeah, hit dinger right there, man.
Theo Vaughn
Oh, dude, you would have walked every.
Jay Shock
I walked a lot.
Theo Vaughn
Oh yeah.
Jay Shock
But I also hit a couple, couple dingers. I remember I got my first double and my dad missed it because he was driving the fire engine queens. My mom saw it. That was like a good moment. I used to pitch a little bit too.
Theo Vaughn
Did you?
Jay Shock
Gun. I have a freaking.
Theo Vaughn
I could see it.
Jay Shock
I could throw a football far. Baseball far. Probably basketball though, because I liked it.
Theo Vaughn
Yeah.
Jay Shock
I was on my high School team.
Theo Vaughn
You were.
Jay Shock
There's pictures every.
Theo Vaughn
You got to. We got. We got to bring those up. We do our research, but we don't try to make it too much. Like, you know, I scored, I think
Jay Shock
13 points the whole season. Nuh. Or 19.
Theo Vaughn
That's good.
Jay Shock
My dad, my. My uncle's like, you know, that's how much people get in a game. It's like top five score.
Theo Vaughn
Yeah. Yeah.
Jay Shock
The team sucked, dude.
Theo Vaughn
Yeah, the freaking team sucked. What was the team called?
Jay Shock
The Gales.
Theo Vaughn
Oh, come on. The Gales. Dude.
Jay Shock
I don't even know what that is.
Theo Vaughn
It's a breeze, I think. There you go, right there.
Jay Shock
Wow.
Theo Vaughn
Do you play in rugby?
Jay Shock
That's rugby, man.
Theo Vaughn
Let's go.
Jay Shock
No cap.
Theo Vaughn
Jay Shock.
Jay Shock
Dude, that's before I had my jaw surgery, so look how different I look, dude.
Theo Vaughn
Yeah, you did look different. What was it about? What was the jaw surgery? When did that come in?
Jay Shock
That came in. That kid behind me, the lightweight.
Theo Vaughn
Obviously that kid. Look at him is.
Jay Shock
We had to do like, what's it. What's it called in a. In a frat where you, like, horse around, Something with an A. Hazing or whatever. Yeah, hazing. So we had to do that. Like a warm up. Like get into the brotherhood. And we did like drinking challenges.
Theo Vaughn
Yeah.
Jay Shock
Then we just hand it to the kid behind me because they didn't like him. Felt so bad. This kid couldn't drink either.
Theo Vaughn
He couldn't.
Jay Shock
After half a beer, he would get drunk and he would like, pass out. We got him messed up.
Theo Vaughn
He looks like he'll drink half your nuts, to be honest with you. But I don't know him, bro. And also, blessings, dude. We can't be roasting this fucking kid. We don't even know him. But look at the.
Jay Shock
I'm sorry. Don't. Don't say his name. You don't know his name. I'm so sorry.
Theo Vaughn
You brought him up, dude. And first of all, bro, why didn't your parents put you in the sun a little bit? They got to you out here looking like a marshmallow that play soccer, dude. They got you out here looking like a green, bro. You look like a white. You call it, dude.
Jay Shock
You look like a pelican, bro.
Theo Vaughn
Yeah, you look like a. You look like a egg that got. That's that. Doing his own thing for the day or whatever, bro.
Jay Shock
I look like a. Like a gas mammal.
Theo Vaughn
Yeah. What are we talking about, dude?
Jay Shock
Like one of those cartoon gas bubbles.
Theo Vaughn
Oh, yeah, definitely, dude.
Jay Shock
Damn. Like a little fart.
Theo Vaughn
Oh, yeah. You look Like a fucking. Yeah, you look like a fart from Europe, dude. You look like something somebody would throw and a dog would bring back, bro. But a strong dog, you know what I'm saying? Not a little fucking dude.
Jay Shock
Yo, straight flaming me.
Theo Vaughn
Sorry, bro. I'm joking.
Jay Shock
So funny.
Theo Vaughn
I'm joking, bro.
Jay Shock
So funny.
Theo Vaughn
I'm joking. And look at the guy behind you trying to be black. He just put a bunch of dirt on his legs. That's. I hate it when dudes do that. I hate that dude. That guy's looking. And then he even wore, like, the black sleeves. Like, look, I'm black. That guy's not even black, dude. Bro, how could three dudes be three different colors and all live in the same country, too, on this picture?
Jay Shock
Oh, my God.
Theo Vaughn
This is crazy. And this is FIFA, dude. This is the problem we're having since they expanded the tournament and let more teams in.
Jay Shock
Look at my jawline, how bad it is.
Theo Vaughn
I thought the jawline's solid, bro.
Jay Shock
Yeah, it's. Before my surgery, what'd they do? They. They broke my top and bottom jaw and realigned it.
Theo Vaughn
Jesus Christ.
Jay Shock
Type in Jay Shock jaw surgery. It'll come up.
Theo Vaughn
Who were they? Did you get their license plate?
Jay Shock
No, the doctor did it.
Theo Vaughn
Were you having trouble feeding or whatever? Feeding or eating or whatever?
Jay Shock
Feeding.
Theo Vaughn
I don't know what you're doing, bro. At this point, every.
Jay Shock
This is the newer one. You gotta go to the old one.
Theo Vaughn
What is going on, Jayshaw?
Jay Shock
I had to have corrective jaw surgery because of my calcium deficiency. And they had to start by. Because I have all baby teeth. These are all you want to show you?
Theo Vaughn
Yeah. Let me see a couple of them. Oh, wow. Baby shock.
Jay Shock
It's like a dinosaur.
Theo Vaughn
Those are worth money, though, the baby ones, right?
Jay Shock
Mm. You'd had Nibbler, So it's on YouTube. These. Jayshock 99 jaw surgery on YouTube. But anyway, I had to get new teeth, so in order to get new teeth, they had to start by realigning my jaw. So I was out of work in school for, like, three or four months because I. They blew up my jaw. Like, they had to break the top of my bottom. I look like a freaking Kardashian model. Like, you're gonna see the picture. It's crazy. It was the most pain I've ever been through. I couldn't even do this. My mom had to feed me soup and water through a syringe, and they put me on, like, chocolate. Like, they put me on the shock o'. Clock.
Theo Vaughn
They did.
Jay Shock
I Had a bottle of Shock o'. Clock.
Theo Vaughn
Nuh, it was bad. Did you have one of those feeding bottles or whatever?
Jay Shock
No, I. I don't know if I could talk about what I was on, like, prescribed.
Theo Vaughn
Oh, you were on your medication. Was it scary? It was awesome for a little bit. Oh, yeah.
Jay Shock
But it's dangerous, that stuff, you know? I can't be doing that. Oh, but Elven Ring came out around the time I was on the Shock o' Clock Potion.
Theo Vaughn
Elevator ring. Oh, the ring camera.
Jay Shock
No, Elven Ring, Elden Ring, the game. And it just like, it was crazy, man. Like, it took away the pain, but it was like. It was crazy.
Theo Vaughn
Yeah. I wonder what games go best with pills or whatever. I wonder what games go best with pills.
Jay Shock
I don't even know anything that's in the video game. Probably. You gotta pull up that picture, though. I have it. You want me to show you?
Theo Vaughn
Yeah. Oh, my God, bro, that looks like you. And sketch. This is really you, dude.
Jay Shock
That's me. There it is. There it is. Look at it. Look how swollen I am.
Theo Vaughn
Uh. Oh, yeah. You look like you're saving something for winter. That's crazy.
Jay Shock
There's some. There's like a screenshot or a B roll or overlay of, like, the pictures.
Theo Vaughn
Ugh, look at. You've been drinking breast milk for 40 years, dude. That's what you look like.
Jay Shock
Sucking and mucking. Look at this.
Theo Vaughn
Oh, fuck. Look like.
Jay Shock
Damn.
Theo Vaughn
Look like you're sucking on a tit off of the LIE dude in the Tesla.
Jay Shock
Like this.
Theo Vaughn
Yeah, bro, you look like goofing. Got a. You got a tough hit on some Jersey tit right over there. Some bugging turnpike nipple. That's what got a hold of you, brother.
Jay Shock
The LIE nipples.
Theo Vaughn
Oh, look how you were trying to give up. Damn. Look like you were trying to slurp on something in bumper to bumper traffic right there. Yeah, brother. That's a tough look, dude.
Jay Shock
Isn't that crazy?
Theo Vaughn
It is, dude. God, you've been through so much, man.
Jay Shock
I've been through so much, Theo. Oh, like real talk.
Theo Vaughn
I know. And just your resiliency, man, in your attitude, your ability to have a positive attitude. It's so funny, man. I think seeing you today is like. And I hate to even make this about myself, but, like, it's just what I needed. I needed to be reminded of, like, that, like, everybody is dealing with stuff. We're all going through things that we got this right? And the way to do it is just. Is to keep positive, you know?
Jay Shock
I've been through some More psychological shit. I don't know how deep you want me to get into it, but could we talk about that stuff?
Theo Vaughn
Yeah. What was one of the tougher times that you dealt with? Do you feel like. Like, when it comes to, like, some of your mental, like mental health and emotional health, that sort of thing, we
Jay Shock
could talk about, like, weed. Yeah, we can.
Theo Vaughn
Yeah.
Jay Shock
So I used to smoke a lot of weed when I was younger. Like, high school, college or college, mainly. And I was addicted to the pen called the Penjamin. Had a Rick and Morty pen.
Theo Vaughn
Penjamin button they called you, I bet.
Jay Shock
Something like that. Yeah. And I was in Cape Cod, my homeland, right where I was born. And I was drinking, I was smoking, not getting sleep. I was sleep deprived. And I think a mixture of everything. And then I did it so much that I went into psychosis from hitting that pen for over a month. And I was. It was bad. I was checked into multiple hospitals. I was in a psych ward for over a month. And while I was. How I got confident.
Theo Vaughn
Did you get 5150 or whatever? Did you get 5150'd it's called, or something?
Jay Shock
51.
Theo Vaughn
You're in a psych ward. Go on.
Jay Shock
Oh, sorry. And before I got there, I was. I was looking. I was working at Home Depot. That was my first, like, real job. And I felt like people were following me. Like, I was ringing up the same four customers all day. I was hearing voices in my head. And then I get in my car and I. I'm like, dad, like, people are following me. Like, I would say. Like, I would say red car. Like, I want a red car. Like, a red car would drive by. It was only, like, weird little coincidences that were happening. But that's what happens when you're in psychosis. Like, these coincidences happen. Shit seems so real. So I ended up getting home. I thought my dad was recording me. We had, like, a fist fight. Like, it was bad, dude. Like, they.
Theo Vaughn
Oh, you accused him of recording you?
Jay Shock
No, I thought cameras were recording me. There weren't. I thought my whole life was being broadcasted.
Theo Vaughn
Where did you think that your dad was hiding the cameras?
Jay Shock
On his phone. Because every time he was on the phone, like, the camera looked like it was recording me.
Theo Vaughn
Oh, you thought it was recording you?
Jay Shock
Yeah. So I ran to my neighbor's house.
Theo Vaughn
Would you tell the neighbors? You knock on the door, you just go.
Jay Shock
I said, my parents are trying to do some shit, like. And they're like, oh, you're good. You're Good. Trust me. Like. Oh. Oh, no. I was. I was playing gta, and in the game, there was, like, things happening in the game. Like, I was getting pulled over in the game. Like, I thought, like, all this stuff was happening because of, like, what. Like, I did something wrong. It was so weird, Theo. Like, I can't even explain it. Was it scary, too?
Theo Vaughn
Was it scary also?
Jay Shock
Yeah, it was really scary. They were telling me, either you take the medicine or we check you into a psych ward. And the psych ward I was in was all of younger people when I was there.
Theo Vaughn
Did you have a sport? You have, like, a volleyball team of a sports league or anything in there? No.
Jay Shock
Like a psych ward sports unit or.
Theo Vaughn
Yeah, like a.
Jay Shock
No, they had a basketball court. And I'll tell you, I was shooting full court shots like, it was like nothing. Because the drugs they had you on in that hospital were like limitlessly limitless movie. It was like a pill that. It. It unlocked all of my brain, and I was. I was doing. I learned how to freestyle. I learned how to rap.
Theo Vaughn
Hey, hey.
Jay Shock
I learned how to do all this different stuff because of the medication. It's terrible.
Theo Vaughn
Serotonin's down, but these buckets are up. You feel me? That's all I'm saying, brother. That's crazy.
Jay Shock
So now while I'm there, like, it was all these different coincidence happening. There was a lot of weird people in there, like, that had their own
Theo Vaughn
problems in the psych ward. Who was one of the wildest cats in there.
Jay Shock
I don't remember any names, really. Yeah, we don't need a name, but this one. Dude, there was some crazy people in there, man. I had this big African American guy in my room.
Theo Vaughn
Black guy?
Jay Shock
Yeah, big, big black guy in my room. And in the middle of the night, he woke me up, like, hovering over me. Oh, yeah, you got any snacks?
Theo Vaughn
Really?
Jay Shock
I got some gummies in my chips in my bag. He probably like, I need them now.
Theo Vaughn
He said he needed them.
Jay Shock
I was like, holy.
Theo Vaughn
Probably smelled him.
Jay Shock
He probably.
Theo Vaughn
If you're that big dude, you can smell food better than we can.
Jay Shock
Yeah, dude. There was so much shit that's happened in my life. And so the craziest part of all this is that two things. One, when I was at Home Depot, I worked with this kid, and he was training to become a doctor. And when I was in one of the hospitals that I was admitted to, I saw him walking around the hospital. I'm like, dad, that's one of the guys that's following me. He works with me. He's spying on me. And he's like, he's not. He's just a regular doctor. A couple years later I called him like, yo, did you ever work at this hospital at this time? He's like, that was me.
Theo Vaughn
You're lying.
Jay Shock
He's like, that was me. He's like, now you can rest easy.
Theo Vaughn
Was it really him?
Jay Shock
It was really him.
Theo Vaughn
So he worked at Home Depot and at the hospital?
Jay Shock
Yeah, training. And then the second. Training for what?
Theo Vaughn
What, like, what training would a doctor need at Home Depot? Really?
Jay Shock
He just had a side job, like while he was going to school. He worked there.
Theo Vaughn
Got it. So now, dude, you ever have it? Okay, go on.
Jay Shock
I'm sorry, I had a question.
Theo Vaughn
I have a question about Home Depot,
Jay Shock
but I'm gonna, I'm gonna tell you in a second. But the craziest thing about all this is the second thing. You know Logic, the rapper?
Theo Vaughn
Yeah.
Jay Shock
He wrote a book, his name is Bobby hall, but he wrote a book called Supermarket. And in the book it's about him living like a double life and he's going through psychosis and he's trying to like hide a killing that he did a really great book, Supermarket. That book came out at the same time I was going through psychosis, so I thought I was the main character of the book that was being filmed live action in the hospital and around the world. I thought they were like doing a 24 hour live stream of me being a real character of that book. I swear to God.
Theo Vaughn
Would you ever leave like messages for yourself to find later, like, hey, I'm gonna write myself this note.
Jay Shock
Yes. So that whole notebook of it, I wrote songs in it. I wrote little things because were you trying to. Of the girls I liked. I remember I got a. I got a boner.
Theo Vaughn
Like, tell us about that boner.
Jay Shock
That boner. This nurse. And like at the time, like my body wasn't working right, like my brain, nothing was like working with the stuff they were putting me on was making me feel different things. And I remember one day I was like, oh, I forgot what a boner felt like. And this girl came up to me, we were talking, I was rizzing the fuck out. I thought I was gonna bang this nurse.
Theo Vaughn
Oh, it's hospital Rizz, dude.
Jay Shock
That thing was jumping. Oh, like having a great time, talking to everyone. I just can't even explain to you. You would have to be in my head to really know what it felt like.
Theo Vaughn
But how did the psychosis come to an end?
Jay Shock
It just, they My parents saved me. They really did. Like, they got me out of there. They're like, you can't give them any more medication because they try to keep you in there, Theo.
Theo Vaughn
Oh, yeah, they try to keep.
Jay Shock
That's how they make money.
Theo Vaughn
It's like the zoo. They want the animals.
Jay Shock
Yeah.
Theo Vaughn
Imagine you go to a zoo and there's no animals. Or they're like, hey, this animal got better. We let him go. They're like, what? This animal's back happy with his family. You never see any of that. They're always like, this animal. Yeah, he's having. He's got bad lungs or whatever. We're keeping him or something. Something. That's always the prognosis when you're at the zoo, dude. It's. Or this animal. Yeah, he's still. You know what I'm saying? We're put. We're doing physical therapy with him for, like, 11 years or whatever.
Jay Shock
You know, he's good now.
Theo Vaughn
Yeah, it's always.
Jay Shock
Some hippopotamus can open his mouth now. It's good the eagle could fly. But, yeah, I got out and I just. I never smoked weed again.
Theo Vaughn
Do you think that something about that. Do you. Do you think that something about that psychosis, the idea of, like, seeing yourself outside of yourself, did that lead you into streaming? Like, you know I'm talking about.
Jay Shock
It led me into being creative. I'll say that. I was always creative, but, like, it kind of like, it was like an epiphany almost, like, how well I was doing music at the time. I produced music. So again, like, this another example of why I was. Of how psychosis worked. I thought I was a producer for Jay Z in the hospital. I was playing piano, and I thought they were recording what I was playing on the piano and sending it to Jay Z, and, like, I was hearing it on the speakers. Because everything. When you're in psychosis, you feel like everything is happening for you. So that one of the guys, the music therapy guy, would come in and he would play music for us, and he would play the radio, and I would hear. I would hear, like, in the song, in the lyrics, Jay Shock made the beat. Jay Shock is on. Like, I would hear my name in the song, but it really wasn't there.
Theo Vaughn
Got it.
Jay Shock
It was just my mind tricking me.
Theo Vaughn
Got it.
Jay Shock
It's fucking crazy, dude. Crazy. But.
Theo Vaughn
So you made it through all of that?
Jay Shock
I made it through all that. And, like. Like, Mario, you said, like, how it led to that. I produced music at the time, and I thought I Was making hits. I was, like, calling my friends on the phone. I would remember every phone number that my friends have. Cause we didn't have our cell phones, so I would remember all the names. And I thought for the show or whatever live broadcast was on, I thought I would have to remember the phone number for the thing. I thought I called Riley Reid. I thought I called, like, supermodels.
Theo Vaughn
Riley Reid, the porn star?
Jay Shock
Yeah. I thought I called the model. I got a phone call and I'm like, who is this? And she's like, it's Riley. I'm like, what's up, Riley? I'll be there later.
Theo Vaughn
Yeah.
Jay Shock
And it was just a fucking random person who was. There might have been no one on the phone. That's how crazy it was, Theo.
Theo Vaughn
So. But. So. Jesus Christ.
Jay Shock
I know I'm getting deep. I know I'm getting all over the place. But all of it makes sense to me because it happened.
Theo Vaughn
Well, I know it happened, dude, but you're, like, fucking out there. You're hitchhiking through your own.
Jay Shock
I was shooting three. Like, Allen Iverson. I was calling.
Theo Vaughn
You know what's crazy is the more you talk, the more it sounds like you might be Allen Iverson's son.
Jay Shock
Could be. I couldn't be.
Theo Vaughn
So I just got to know, though. So you get out of the hospital, things start to get different. Oh, wait. Oh, one thing before we. What is something about Home Depot that people do not know, dude? Because I'll tell you this. We used to go in that section. My friends and I would get high and we go in that section. You know where the doors are?
Jay Shock
Yes. And we go outdoors.
Theo Vaughn
Yeah, dude, we go millwork. What's it called?
Jay Shock
Millwork.
Theo Vaughn
Yeah, we go into the millwork section, dude. And we wait till somebody goes standing on one of the doors, and then we would knock on it.
Jay Shock
Dude, that's funny as shit. What is something to know about Home Depot?
Theo Vaughn
Just fucking stand there, dude.
Jay Shock
Just shitty company. That's all you gotta do. You think it is for them to fire someone that got assaulted for defending themselves? You're a shitty company.
Theo Vaughn
That seems like typical. I mean, that's typical Home Depot. I feel like in Atlanta, that feels like everyday Home Depot.
Jay Shock
That's. That's the headquarters.
Theo Vaughn
Yeah, of course.
Jay Shock
And we tried defending my case and all that.
Theo Vaughn
And did they settle out of court?
Jay Shock
No, we didn't do any court stuff. What happened was I worked there for four years. I worked my way up to, like, a manager position opening clothing the store. I was the king there.
Theo Vaughn
And did you have to wear all that stuff, the belt and all the apron?
Jay Shock
I had a little tape measure.
Theo Vaughn
Was it heavy or not? The stuff you had to carry around?
Jay Shock
No, it wasn't heavy. Had a walkie talkie, you know.
Theo Vaughn
Really?
Jay Shock
It's crazy.
Theo Vaughn
I like walkie talkie.
Jay Shock
Yeah, but it was. It was.
Theo Vaughn
Yeah, I want to build a parrot
Jay Shock
cage, Put a little parrot in the apron, pops out. Yeah. No, it was. It was crazy because, like, when I got fired, nobody like, defended me. They all just dropped me, all the managers, all my friends. Like, they kind of left me for dead, you know?
Theo Vaughn
But you didn't leave yourself for dead, man.
Jay Shock
No, sir.
Theo Vaughn
You know, tell me about how you ended up. I. I know you also ended up working with the u. S. Postal system.
Jay Shock
I did. They fired me, too.
Theo Vaughn
Really?
Jay Shock
Well, the first place I got fired from, because this guy attacked me. And I defended myself at home depot. It was.
Theo Vaughn
I know. I. I just. I know that. I've heard that story, but that's what happened there. You got attack. You defended yourself. So I know that that story's out there.
Jay Shock
It wasn't even like a. It wasn't like this. It was just like, he comes in, I'm clocking out, and he knocked the wind out of me. At the time, I had pneumonia, so my ribs were bruised. And I just got out of the hospital, and he. Man, he hit me so hard. So I. I slapped him back like that, and he's like, I could do whatever I want to. I'm older than you. I'm like, no, you can't give him that.
Theo Vaughn
Giving that wrist ravioli, brother papa deadly smash and extra hand.
Jay Shock
Post office. How to get on the job. My dad was like, you got to get a job. Got to get a job. I didn't want to work for the post office.
Theo Vaughn
Why? What do you have again? What do you have against him?
Jay Shock
I didn't. I just didn't want. Not what I wanted to do. I wanted to make music. At the time, I want. That's all I wanted to do was make music.
Theo Vaughn
Okay.
Jay Shock
Music producer. Yeah. That's my passion, my dream.
Theo Vaughn
Okay. But you. So you. How do. How do you even audition to be. Work at the post office?
Jay Shock
Oh, you have to take a test online. What do you think? You got to, like, throw out mail?
Theo Vaughn
I don't know. I guess. I guess I would have at least
Jay Shock
go around inside a bicycle, just, like,
Theo Vaughn
at least run from a dog.
Jay Shock
You got to pass the road test, which was hard because I couldn't even reach the pedals.
Theo Vaughn
So in the mail truck.
Jay Shock
No, it's. It's. I got two pillows. The. I used to have dreams where I wouldn't be able to reach a car pedal. And when I finally worked for the post office, I was like, these are what the dreams are about. Because I couldn't reach the pedals. Passed the test. I was on probation for 30 days. I had an Asian man named Chen train me. And he's like, you're terrible. You're horrible. You're gonna be terrible. Madman. He hated me, but he loved me at the same time. He was a Navy seal and he trained me to, like, you know, throw the mail out. I had to have my magazines here, my letters here. You had to balance this shit. You have to have a bag over your head with newspaper. It's called your. I don't know, your day ones or something. Whatever they're called. I don't remember what they're called. And you have to fill it with parcels, like packages. If you have a stop, then you have to put all your magazines. They're called your flats. And then you got your letters. So the whole. And they're in rubber bands. So if you miss a rubber band because everything is in order, that shit drops. I would drop the mail like crazy. I remember one time I went to the back of the mail truck to organize it, and I'm like, I gotta pee. And I had a cup. I brought me. I fucking pissed off the mail.
Theo Vaughn
Nah, you did. Dude, what the heck? What were you. What, you fucking just peeing on the mail?
Jay Shock
I felt so bad, but I was like. I couldn't control it. I just peed.
Theo Vaughn
Go to a park.
Jay Shock
We had a mail truck. There was no park. I was on the job.
Theo Vaughn
Yeah, there's a park everywhere.
Jay Shock
There was pee on the mail, everywhere. On the packages, on the mail. Someone got a letter with yellow shit that day, man.
Theo Vaughn
Jay shock. You're not supposed to be peeing on people's mail. It's a federal offense.
Jay Shock
Not by accident.
Theo Vaughn
What do you mean you did it by accident?
Jay Shock
Spilled.
Theo Vaughn
But if you got your wiener out, bro, that's. You know what I'm saying?
Jay Shock
I'm not working with much, so I
Theo Vaughn
couldn't control it, but still, dude.
Jay Shock
So they fired me because they said. Not because of that. Not because of that.
Theo Vaughn
What'd they fire you for?
Jay Shock
They didn't open up the mail truck and just see piss everywhere, but because they said your hearing and vision are going to prohibit how you do this job. And we can't have someone like you.
Theo Vaughn
Them. Dude, nobody Even cares if they get the mail anyway. Dude, we had a guy that was in Tucson. We had a guy who would. Sometimes he would deliver the mail at like, 11:30 at night. He'd just run out and throw it in the fucking yard and scream at his fucking kid in front of our house and then drive off. He would floor it. We had a guy who souped up his mail card. He probably put, like a. He probably put an F350 engine in there or something that would hum, bro.
Jay Shock
Oh, my God.
Theo Vaughn
But. So you got laid off from the mail. How long were you. How long were you in the United Postal Service?
Jay Shock
Three. Three months. I got close. I started in winter, too. Theo. So I was in the. I was slipping on ice looking like Michael Jackson. Just dance.
Theo Vaughn
Moving on ice looking like Kevin. Just going across that pond and home alone.
Jay Shock
He's like, yeah, yeah. Literally. And it was hard. Really hard. A lot of.
Theo Vaughn
What was the hardest thing about the mail? That people don't know. What's something people don't understand?
Jay Shock
Just your relays and your routes. Like you. You'll have blocks sometimes, especially if you're going to walking routes, you have to do a push car. You don't get a truck. That's the first route I ever did. So I was in Port Washington, and they're like, you're not good here. And I'm like, give me one more chance. And they sent me to another town and that town. The first route I did was a walking route. And I had to walk 200 blocks. Yeah, that's a walking route. I had to push this thing with all mail and packages. Heavy. Was it heavy up and down this road? The route is supposed to take two hours. It took me nine.
Theo Vaughn
But how would you even push it? Were you able to. Did you ever think about just tying it around your waist and pulling it behind? You ever try that?
Jay Shock
No. You push it. You don't. You don't do that.
Theo Vaughn
Just muck it along.
Jay Shock
Yeah. Mucking trucking.
Theo Vaughn
Damn.
Jay Shock
I wouldn't eat. Can't eat, barely.
Theo Vaughn
Would you ever just throw some of the mail out? Like it was just too ridiculous?
Jay Shock
No, no, couldn't do that. That's a federal offense.
Theo Vaughn
I'll piss on it. I'm not throwing it out, dude. I'll decorate it.
Jay Shock
I'll piss on it, but I won't throw it out.
Theo Vaughn
All right, we gotta get that.
Jay Shock
While I was doing all this, I was still doing social media, like, music. I was. I think I was doing food reviews, like, here and there in my car. And Then I finally got that, and then my dad's like, you gotta get another job. So I found this oil company, Petro Oil Company. I'm not going to name the specific job I was at, okay?
Theo Vaughn
And they do oil.
Jay Shock
They. They sell oil. So I was a credit representative, and I was making sure people get oil so they don't freeze that. So if you didn't have money. Yeah, you. You were going to freeze that night. And it was bad. It was sad. Like a little old lady. Like, I need oil. Chocolate. Give me some oil. Need oil. And shock o', clock, she's freezing. Like, I could. I could picture her in her. Her room, freezing. And I'm sitting there.
Theo Vaughn
Even my bra is cold. Yeah, my tits are so cold. It's shock o'. Clock.
Jay Shock
It was bad, man. But I was like a top salesman there.
Theo Vaughn
Come over. Bring over that little parrot wiener.
Jay Shock
Oh, my God.
Theo Vaughn
Sorry, this story's getting a little crazy.
Jay Shock
Dude, it was a call.
Theo Vaughn
What town was it called?
Jay Shock
Port.
Theo Vaughn
What?
Jay Shock
Huh?
Theo Vaughn
What town were you in?
Jay Shock
What town?
Theo Vaughn
Port. Washington. Where was it at?
Jay Shock
No, the oil company.
Theo Vaughn
Yeah.
Jay Shock
I don't remember where it was. Woodbury.
Theo Vaughn
But what were it selling in New Jersey?
Jay Shock
New York.
Theo Vaughn
New York.
Jay Shock
So now I got some, like, crazy customers on the phone yelling at you all day. And at the time.
Theo Vaughn
So you're selling oil. You're up there selling oil by phone?
Jay Shock
Yeah.
Theo Vaughn
Oh, my God.
Jay Shock
Literally, you got to collect money. You got to collect thousands of dollars to come.
Theo Vaughn
Oh, I believe you. But it's just, what the fuck are you getting in for? You know what I'm saying? They just pulled all your teeth out, and now they got you selling oil by phone.
Jay Shock
Yep. And shooting threes and a psych ward.
Theo Vaughn
Let's go.
Jay Shock
But I was doing food reviews at the time, getting past 10,000, you know, growing my following in the mean. In the Miss Wall. But when I was training one of my best friends, Charles, he's like, so what do you do for fun? I'm like, oh, I have a social media page where I do food reviews. And he was like, we were talking about fast food. I'm like, I gotta get back into that. He's like, what, eating fast food? I'm like, no, do my food reviews. And he kind of, like, started me back up again. Like, I did, like, all those food reviews there. Like, just kind of got me back in the rhythm of posting. So thank you to him. And I would be, go on my lunch breaks, order food, do mukbangs.
Theo Vaughn
Oh, so you started mucking like that.
Jay Shock
Yeah. But that was at Home Depot, too. I was doing it on all three jobs. I was producing music, you know, selling beats, making music for artists, and then eating food. The first ever video I did was prime the Drink.
Theo Vaughn
Yeah.
Jay Shock
And I did a review on that.
Theo Vaughn
Can you bring that? Did you have a first video?
Jay Shock
Oh, this is the first mukbang I ever did.
Theo Vaughn
And. And so this is before Shock o' Clock and let's get to Muckin.
Jay Shock
Yes.
Theo Vaughn
Yes, it is. Okay, great. Let's watch it.
Jay Shock
Okay, first up, we got Tropical Punch Problem before. I love it. And let's give this one look. I got the Home Depot hat on,
Theo Vaughn
dude.
Jay Shock
Oh, my God. Really good. Tastes like a really good fruit punch. I have no teeth in coconut water in it.
Theo Vaughn
You don't need them.
Jay Shock
I have no teeth. Extremely nice.
Theo Vaughn
Dude. Who needs this one? That stuff probably strips your enamel anyway. That's just a rumor.
Jay Shock
Okay, next up, we got Minute Moon. Gonna shake. Always shake it. Always spank it. Let's prank it. I don't think I like this flavor. Oh, God.
Theo Vaughn
Yeah, there's some bad ones out there. Yeah, dude, that's awesome, bro.
Jay Shock
But also, what you don't know is I did food reviews with no teeth. And everyone made this meme up gumming it down. Because when you take the teeth, I have no teeth. They said they made up gumming it down. So I did food reviews for over a year with no teeth.
Theo Vaughn
Well, that's.
Jay Shock
Who else is doing that?
Theo Vaughn
That's our health care system. What do you even expect? Half of America is doing that now, dude. But here's. Here's my. Here's. Here's my question for you. Is do you think it's easier to do a food review with or without teeth? Does one matter more than the other?
Jay Shock
Well, now I have all these fake teeth, and I say when I take the teeth out, I could chew it easier. Because when I'm chewing, this thing is, like, messing around, food getting behind it. It's just a freaking nightmare. I'm eventually going to get all new teeth from my doctors. I have, like, some of the best doctors. Dr. Kurtz, Dr. Ruggierio, Dr. Schwartz. They just great doctors. Dr. Barisi, like Lucarelli. They're great Dr. Italians, huh? Yeah, I guess. And they just. They know what they're doing. Like, they're dealing with, like, a lot of different equipment and, like, money for the procedure.
Theo Vaughn
Oh, shit. Yeah, Just put a fucking. Get a good calzone maker to put. You put your fucking.
Jay Shock
You know, stuff it up.
Theo Vaughn
Yeah, get some. Just a little shingles of the Lord for some nice baby raviolis and put them in there, brother. That's all it is.
Jay Shock
At that oil job, I started doing POV videos.
Theo Vaughn
Okay?
Jay Shock
And I would film my lunch break breaks, my nine to fives. And the first one I ever did, there was this guy named Hubs Life. Shout out to Hubs Life and shout out to Noe Marillo. They were the. They. They made this, you know, pov, right? Pov? You. Yeah. End up on a field, whatever. POV is point of view. So it gives you a perspective of what your life is like. So I saw this guy, Hubs Life, filming his 9 to 5, and I'm like, I'm gonna try one. Okay. I did it. 10 million views. Wow.
Theo Vaughn
So you just tried a POV and you got 10 million views on it.
Jay Shock
How much. How many views does this have?
Theo Vaughn
That's you, Sean.
Jay Shock
This has like 15, 14 million views, bro. That's it. Might even have more now. But look, I would film my whole routine.
Theo Vaughn
Oh, I like that jump at the end.
Jay Shock
Yeah. Broke the Internet is athletic. Broke the earthquake.
Theo Vaughn
Oh, my gosh. You look like my friend's sister a
Jay Shock
little bit in this.
Theo Vaughn
That didn't even look like this.
Jay Shock
Isn't this relatable, Theo? Like, it's cold. You don't want to be at work.
Theo Vaughn
Work 100%.
Jay Shock
You get. You get an hour unpaid lunch break. Unpaid. That's what made me so relatable, was unpaid. Oh, Little food tray. I was in Ellie. My car.
Theo Vaughn
Ellie, would you always eat in the front seat or sometimes you'd eat in the back?
Jay Shock
Always front, huh? What? I have a chain around my. My.
Theo Vaughn
Oh, the chain's great. But is there something. Is there something weird about a guy eating in the back by himself?
Jay Shock
Probably. That's how you knew.
Theo Vaughn
I think it's okay to do it.
Jay Shock
These blew up. I did so many. I did so many of these that I was able to leave my job.
Theo Vaughn
So you're telling me that you were able to. So you did enough food reviews on your lunch break at work that you were able to quit your actual job?
Jay Shock
Yeah. So I went into work one day and I had to use the bathroom, and I had to put myself in personal time, but I had to go into the bathroom. I really had to go. Like I was non stop. Stomach was effed up, and I said the fact that.
Theo Vaughn
What had you been eating? You think you remember?
Jay Shock
I don't remember what I ate. Probably some Italian food.
Theo Vaughn
Yeah.
Jay Shock
Too much ravioli.
Theo Vaughn
Some foreign shrimp or whatever.
Jay Shock
Yeah. So I. I said the Fact that I have to send an email to use the bathroom to extend my bathroom time is enough to make me quit. So I would plug in this calculator how much I would need to leave, like money wise. Because I would go home and I would livestream eating. I would make like, you know, a couple hundred dollars for my salary for the week. So I called up my boy, I'm like, yo, I'm gonna quit. He'd like do it. So I got a garbage bag, I came out of the bathroom and I said, if I could find a box or something to put my stuff in, I'll leave. So this beautiful Spanish lady sitting out there with three big black hefty bags, I'm like, can I have one of those bags? I got all my shit, put it in there. And I left. And my manager called me back in. She's like, where are you going? I'm like, I'm done. She's like, well, I need you to sign something that says you left. She handed me a loose leaf. Theo. I signed it as Jay Shock. Cause I went in as Jerome and I left as Jay Shock. I get home, parents wanted to kill me. We're kick you out. We're going to get a job.
Theo Vaughn
Were you still living at home?
Jay Shock
Yeah, yeah, no, I'm out and about. Like I'm never there, but I was. Yeah, look, see, this is me twinning. I filmed it.
Theo Vaughn
That's crazy.
Jay Shock
But this is like a day after, right? Like this is when I had to come back and drop off all my shit.
Theo Vaughn
So take us on. How do you end up like, dude, thanks so much for your time too.
Jay Shock
Yes, sir. Thank you for having me.
Theo Vaughn
Oh, you bet, man. This is awesome. Dude, we have to. We'll have to keep in touch.
Jay Shock
I'm going to look you in the eyes for this one.
Theo Vaughn
Hey, no, no, look, I like that. Thank you, bro. No, no, look, I got the look back.
Jay Shock
Yes, sir.
Theo Vaughn
Do you taste. So take us, take us on. What is streamer you. And then how do you end up in. How do you audition for streamer you Take us first up for our listeners that don't know what is streamer you.
Jay Shock
So there's 7 million applicants, I believe maybe more or less around there. There was in person audition that didn't want to go to. And then there was online. We submit a video. I didn't want to go.
Theo Vaughn
You submit video to what?
Jay Shock
To the. To get into the school.
Theo Vaughn
And what is the school? I'm just saying, like it's a school
Jay Shock
full of content creators and Streamers.
Theo Vaughn
Okay, got it.
Jay Shock
Yeah. It's run by Kai Senat and his team. And it's just a really crazy opportunity that could change your life, could change mine. And you learn about. It's a little school, it was in Arkansas this year, and you learn, like, different tactics on how to grow, how to get better equipment, how to learn about, like, how to deal with the stress. There was all different classes. Like, Lizzo was a teacher. Adaptation Ludwig. Like, there was all these cool teachers that are big content creators. And then you're surrounded by like 120 creators. So you're in a cafeteria, for example, with all streamers, eating lunch, and everyone's livestreaming.
Theo Vaughn
Oh, it seems crazy, bro. It seems like a bunch of people just trying to catch each other saying the N word is what it seems like.
Jay Shock
Yeah, it's like all clip farming. But anyway, like, I wasn't gonna reply, Theo. Like, I filmed the shitty video. Cause I didn't care. And my boy Jacob, my editor, one of my best friends, was like, you gotta apply and you gotta try. So I filmed the video two days before Father's Day, edited it, and then we put it out, submitted it an hour before applications closed with my cameraman, my old cameraman, I fired him. And I saw that. I fired him at Schumer University. I don't want to get. I don't want to.
Theo Vaughn
We're not going to get into.
Jay Shock
But anyway, we're not going to get into him. We got in.
Theo Vaughn
You send the audition video in. How long is the audition video?
Jay Shock
How long was it? Yeah, a minute and a half.
Theo Vaughn
Let's. Let's watch it right now. We'll watch it right here. I'm streaming.
Jay Shock
I'm streaming. I gotta go, I gotta go. I gotta see a muffin. It's sh o'. Clock. Jarvis, take me to the best food spot on long Island. Yes, Mr. Shock. Would you like me to invite Sophie? Negative. Let Dean so that know I'm on the way. Hey, Dean. Tonight I'm J. Shock, and if I'm accepted, you know, I'm bringing pizza. Here's a few reasons why I should be accepted. Number one, I quit my job to do social media full time. And since then, I've grown my page to over 2 million followers and I'm not stopping. Mmm. So good. Number two. I never give up. Growing up, I went through a lot. Medically, physically, emotionally. And a lot of people told me I was never gonna be able to do what I wanted to do. And that's create content. You're too Small, you don't have the right look. Well, guess what? I'm doing it right now. Just over a couple years ago, I had to get corrective jaw surgery. They had to break my top and bottom jaw to realign it so I could get new teeth. I was doing food reviews with no teeth. I was gumming it down. After all that, I'm still mucking. And I'm gonna teach you guys how to muck. That sauce is crazy. And number three, just like these slices, I offer variety. I do food reviews, daily, gaming streams, and I've helped dozens of businesses across the country. Sometimes there's a line out the door. Thanks to you, Shock Squad. And oh yeah, that beat you heard throughout the whole video. I made that too.
Theo Vaughn
Shock Squad, right?
Jay Shock
And lastly, I want to bring food and streaming together like no one ever has. I'm ready to shock the world. Are you banging right?
Theo Vaughn
Dude, that's so perfect, bro. What a great video you made. And so what, what, what advice would you give to people who want to make a video? To submit for streamer.
Jay Shock
You have a good hook. The first two to three seconds gotta be very engaging. Gotta be something different. Gotta be something a little bit like relatable, a little bit sus. Like something that like sticks out and then you gotta have a good, like pacing. So like the flow of the video, like maybe like you doze off for like a little second, but like I engage with you. That whole video, I kept your attention. That's what's so important about content is you gotta remain retention. That's why when you're scrolling, these apps gotta keep you on your platform. But the longer you look at a video, the more the Instagram or TikTok will push that video in the algorithm, they like to see eyes being on something for longer, you know, so just. And be yourself, have fun with it.
Theo Vaughn
What do you want people to take away from your content?
Jay Shock
Just to be weird, you know, just have fun, be yourself, shock the world, you know, and just do what you love. Because I feel like everyone is unique and everyone's like, oh, you look different, you're different. You know, why don't you look like me? Why don't you have facial hair? Why are you so small? I'm like, because I'm unique. Everyone has a cool story to tell and you should monetize your life, you know, because me waking up in the morning brushing my teeth could be different than you, you know, me putting my shoes on. Some people can put a shoe on to no foot at all. Like me wearing different clothes and you in the morning. Like, everyone has some kind of uniqueness to them, you know, I like to say, like, let. I have a quote here. It's my yearbook quote for Streamer University.
Theo Vaughn
Yeah, let's check it out.
Jay Shock
And I said, for the yearbook, I said, okay, ready? Don't let your disability define you. Use it as your ability to achieve greatness and shock the world.
Theo Vaughn
Amen, bro.
Jay Shock
Okay, that's real talk. Like, I never let my disabilities get into my head. Define me. I use them to my ability to achieve greatness. Yeah.
Theo Vaughn
Yeah, man. Because we're all we have, you know, Our experiences are what we have, you know, they're the ingredients that make us, you know.
Jay Shock
And that radio, you know, getting accepted at 1:30am, I was streaming, and he called my name. Like, my reaction is insane.
Theo Vaughn
How so? What was that? You're just watching the announcements. And how many does he choose?
Jay Shock
121.
Theo Vaughn
Out of. How many?
Jay Shock
Out of 7 million. Isn't that crazy?
Theo Vaughn
Crazy.
Jay Shock
It changed my life. I want to be here talking to someone as amazing as you. If it wasn't for this opportunity by Kai, I mean, it's crazy. And while I was there, I was making so many viral moments. I was. Because people knew me, but they didn't. They're like, oh, this is what he does. This is the real side of him.
Theo Vaughn
Right.
Jay Shock
It was 247 live stream, and if you really think about it, remember when I was telling you when I was in the hospital and I thought people were watching me, live stream, recording me,
Theo Vaughn
and now they were full circle.
Jay Shock
It happened so bizarre. But this time it happened for real.
Theo Vaughn
Let's go.
Jay Shock
I mean, I think they could make a movie out of my life because it's so. It's crazy.
Theo Vaughn
Who would play you? Who would play you in the movie?
Jay Shock
You think I want to play myself?
Theo Vaughn
What if they won't allow it?
Jay Shock
Who do you think could play me? Nobody looks like me.
Theo Vaughn
Freddie Prince Jr. Maybe.
Jay Shock
Who's that? I got to see a picture.
Theo Vaughn
He might be. Told her now. Let me think.
Jay Shock
DJ Khaled, maybe.
Theo Vaughn
One of DJ Khaled's kids. Peter Manfredo Jr. Maybe. He was a boxer.
Jay Shock
I don't even know. Nobody really looks like me, you know?
Theo Vaughn
Yeah, you're right. I mean. Yeah, you're unique, so it would be hard. Yeah. I'm trying to think. But you have to have a kid. It has to be a child or one of those people. Yeah. Because you have to put, you know, that. To play you starting young. I don't know. Maybe I'm trying to think who else who could play you, man.
Jay Shock
Post Malone.
Theo Vaughn
Yeah, Postal.
Jay Shock
He's got tattoos.
Theo Vaughn
What about United States Postal Malone?
Jay Shock
Get like a post office worker.
Theo Vaughn
Yeah. Maybe you could blame me, dude, I'd be honored.
Jay Shock
Just shave your head.
Theo Vaughn
Yeah, I'd shave my head. Shave my nuts.
Jay Shock
Get it? Jungle down there.
Theo Vaughn
I mean, it's not a jungle, but I'll say this. There's been a little bit of me. Oh, there's been a little reforestation probably. Yeah, I think they're probably. We probably need signs to know where the trails are. That's all I'm saying. How. How long does the streamer you last the actual university?
Jay Shock
Five days.
Theo Vaughn
I think it's five days. And you guys are all put up on this campus wherever you are. And do you actually graduate?
Jay Shock
I wasn't really a graduation ceremony. No. It's half the people that go to classes.
Theo Vaughn
Oh, really?
Jay Shock
No, I went to every class. It was because I wanted to learn. But, like, there was like an award ceremony and when. And there was like all these different activities and clubs. Like, it was. It was like a real school. It was crazy. Yeah, it was really cool.
Theo Vaughn
That's so cool.
Jay Shock
You know, and the fact that people, like, live stream it 247 people watch me sleep at night.
Theo Vaughn
Yeah. And those people should be investigated.
Jay Shock
Yeah.
Theo Vaughn
You know, watching somebody else sleep.
Jay Shock
Imagine I started, like, cranking it.
Theo Vaughn
Oh, yeah.
Jay Shock
Would have been terrible if you were
Theo Vaughn
somebody, like, who sleep like.
Jay Shock
Or sleep walk or sleep eat or sleep jerk. Or sleep like, with another girl. Like, that would have been like, I would have forgot to turn the camera off.
Theo Vaughn
Or sleep fat.
Jay Shock
Would you say sleep jerk?
Theo Vaughn
Sleep fat. If you just. Somebody's masturbating in their sleep. People do that all the time. My uncle used to jerk off in his sleep and they had to tie Jingle Bells on his wrist so you'd hear him when he was doing it.
Jay Shock
I don't even. I don't do any of that shit, bro. I just work out.
Theo Vaughn
It's heartbreaking. Well, if you do, I got a set of bills you can wear. If you do just. You know what I'm saying? You know, because.
Jay Shock
Unbelievable.
Theo Vaughn
You got to take care, you know, Say you just got to let people around, you know what's going on, I think. But that's just who I am. Do you feel pressure now? I know you do. You do mukbangs. I want to talk to you about that in just a second. You do mucking.
Jay Shock
Yes, sir.
Theo Vaughn
Right. You do content. I know you make music.
Jay Shock
Oh, yeah. You're coming out too.
Theo Vaughn
You do next week. You got a new song coming out next week.
Jay Shock
You want to hear it?
Theo Vaughn
Yeah. Do you have it here?
Jay Shock
I have it. So I'm. I produced the beat. My engineer, sand of sands of mind, he helped me engineer it, and then I did the vocals.
Theo Vaughn
Okay.
Jay Shock
That's really good.
Theo Vaughn
What's it called?
Jay Shock
Just let it go.
Theo Vaughn
Oh,
Jay Shock
be honest all right. Maybe I could get you to stay But I know you won't want to leave the thought of me in your bed the thought of me in your head Is all you ever needed yeah, yeah, baby, let it go Let it all go Let you true for the show yeah, yeah Let it go, baby let it. Can't do this. You like it?
Theo Vaughn
Yeah, bro. This is you and who else? Anybody else? Play the beginning again, bro.
Jay Shock
That was it. That was it.
Theo Vaughn
Let's go.
Jay Shock
Let me. Let me play you one more. Okay, one more real quick, because I want. I want to see what you like about it. I promise, dude.
Theo Vaughn
And thanks for just saying, like. Do you like this? I like it.
Jay Shock
I want you to tell me which one you like better.
Theo Vaughn
Okay. Yeah. That's some Rufus horns back there, bro.
Jay Shock
What do you think it sounds like? What artist?
Theo Vaughn
Meek Mill.
Jay Shock
Meek Mill? Little young boy.
Theo Vaughn
Yeah, maybe
Jay Shock
now people say, like, Juicero. I sound like Juicero a little bit.
Theo Vaughn
Really?
Jay Shock
Sketch said that.
Theo Vaughn
Those horns in the back, bro, that reminds me a little bit of Rufus. Pull it down. I like. I like the first one better, but is it really okay if I told you that? Yeah, I don't care.
Jay Shock
I like both of them.
Theo Vaughn
Yeah, I like both of them.
Jay Shock
Thank you, sir.
Theo Vaughn
But the first one I feel like. Hit me better.
Jay Shock
Yeah, it feels like a summer vibe, right?
Theo Vaughn
Yeah. And this one, I do like that you have more vocals in it.
Jay Shock
Yeah.
Theo Vaughn
So I get to hear you more so that. Those are the two things. I like the first one better overall for me. And the second one, I like the fact that I get to hear you more.
Jay Shock
I'll send you the. The link when it drops.
Theo Vaughn
Yeah, bro.
Jay Shock
Will you bump it in the car?
Theo Vaughn
Yeah, dude, I'll share it. I'll put it on my hearing aids. You know what I'm saying?
Jay Shock
Dude, Bro, are you put headphones on a parrot.
Theo Vaughn
This, this, this, this, this, this, this,
Jay Shock
and then tap the wrist. You got to wear a watch.
Theo Vaughn
I gotta get one. You do. You do mukbangs, too? There's something about and for mukbang and people who don't know what is, it's eating food.
Jay Shock
We didn't even Eat the food.
Theo Vaughn
It's enjoying food.
Jay Shock
I brought food. We didn't eat it. Do a mukbang.
Theo Vaughn
I'll have to find one to do with you in la, then I'm down. Okay. Because I know I want to do something to be a part of what you're doing. I just don't know if I have time to. Because I have to leave at 4pm
Jay Shock
what's your favorite food to do to eat so we can do a mukbang on it?
Theo Vaughn
Let me think about that. Let me think about that. But I know you do mukbangs, which is eating stuff. There's something about the way you eat, bro. It's just. Damn. Some of it's just so romantic, bro. Like some of you. What is it? But God, you finish on a bite sometimes and it's just like, oh, oh. The way you kind of like, it's like watching the Notebook. I feel like, like some of it is just. I feel like I'm watching like some like scenes from Twilight or something. Like sometimes the way you finish on.
Jay Shock
Go to that, go to that fruit one above this or the fruit one. It's hidden. Yeah, that one. Look at these. Either fruits. Oh, and I'm really, I'm really devouring that.
Theo Vaughn
Oh, that's damn mucking on it. Oh, that'll make you. Oh, yeah. You could sell some of this so good footage to some CEOs over there in Washington D.C. i tell you, now
Jay Shock
that I have teeth, I could really enjoy the food.
Theo Vaughn
Oh, how different is it?
Jay Shock
It's because the whole difference. Think of your palate is right here. So when you're eating, I used to have to chew everything in the back right? Now it's coming right here.
Theo Vaughn
What would you say to somebody? So you're doing streaming, you're doing mucking, you're doing a lot of stuff, right? Do you feel a lot of pressure? Like I heard you say earlier? Like, you know, we were talking about a story. You had to get a video up, but it's like, do you feel a lot of pressure to do everything? Do you find that something works best for you? And how do you. How are you going to navigate this? How and how are you navigating this space that you're in right now? Because it's a little bit different now.
Jay Shock
It's different because I'm streaming more and it's like people are looking for that stream. People are always like, when is he dropping a new mukin video? When is he going live? So it's like you have to have Good time management, which is something I kind of struggle with. Like, I don't have a good morning routine because I go to bed at like 4 or 5, because I'm doing this and wake up at like, you know, 10, 11.
Theo Vaughn
Do you have a body pillow or anything like that?
Jay Shock
A body. What do you mean?
Theo Vaughn
I'm just trying to think of something that could help you sleep at night.
Jay Shock
I don't know, punch me in the face, knock me out.
Theo Vaughn
That's crazy, dude. That's crazy. I mean, maybe. I mean, yeah, I was gonna think I could maybe get you a body pillow or a fucking. Like a. Just an Italian.
Jay Shock
Something like that.
Theo Vaughn
Yeah, like an Italian bassinet or something.
Jay Shock
You need a good team, you know?
Theo Vaughn
Yeah.
Jay Shock
I have my boy Danny, I have my boy Jacob. We're like edit together. Have someone get you on a schedule. And that's something that. The best thing that came out of Streamru was learning more about myself and my ego and other people's egos and how to react about certain situations. And it taught me, like, the right road. Obedience, like how to, like, learn about your, like, how to control yourself, you know?
Theo Vaughn
Oh, so you talking about how to
Jay Shock
tolerate yourself, how to tolerate yourself, like how to. How to manage how you could feel, how you could track what you're doing and just go out through life and be good, you know? So basically what I learned is like, I have to be able to make content stream and also be happy at the same time. That's the hardest thing is you can't ever really find happiness, but you could try to find peace. Because if you. If you. If you're happy, there's also sadness. But when you're at peace, you're even with everything, you know? And that's what I want to find, eventually, peace. But through all of this, I want to. I want to get so big that I could have, like, inspiration medically on people. Like, I want to. I want to be able to send out a tweet, like, hey, are there any good doctors out there that could help give kids better eyesight or better hearing? And I want to bring them all together and come up with cures for that. Like, I want to have that influencer. Have the influence. Like, you could have an influence, but a lot of influencers talk about, like, cars and money and shit like that. I want to have an influence medically on people and help save lives and help come up with cures and medicines and really expand on that because I struggled seeing and hearing my whole life. And kids deal with the Same thing. So let's. Let's try to do that. Let's get to that point.
Theo Vaughn
Well, look, man, I see you. I hear you. And I also want you to, like, you know, just from an outsider's perspective. You don't have to do a ton, bro, to make us love you. You know what I'm saying? Like, just keep being you. I don't think you. If there's a day where you're like, I don't know if I'm gonna get a video up or like a week or something. I'm not saying you do, but don't.
Jay Shock
I know. I don't.
Theo Vaughn
Don't feel too much pressure, bro.
Jay Shock
I've developed, like, anxiety and depression like that, and I try to, like, ignore it, but it's there. Yeah, but I think I have never been so happy. It's not even about the money or, like the new opportunities. It's about the satisfaction of. I worked my freaking ass off and I finally did it. I finally. I manifested this shit. I became obsessed with the process.
Theo Vaughn
Manicotti fasting for results.
Jay Shock
Becoming obsessed with the process is manifestation. Amen. Manifestation. Becoming obsessed with the result is being greedy. You got to be obsessed with the process, the little moments, the little thing that happened, how you got here. It's fun. Enjoy the journey, my boy. Clips said, enjoy the little moments, you know?
Theo Vaughn
Yeah. And that's what the clips are, which is interesting, you know, Jay Shock, dude, thanks so much, bro, for coming and hanging out. Here's what I'll do is if we. Even if we can't get to do a mukbang. I know, because I'm. I just. I have to be at this flight at 4:00pm yeah. But I'll come and stream with you or something.
Jay Shock
Whatever you feel comfortable with. Like, I like to hang out people off camera. Like, if you want to, we can
Theo Vaughn
do that for sure. I'm going to get your information, but I'm just saying I want to. I want to do something with you too. I appreciate you coming, bro. This has been like.
Jay Shock
We could do it in the car.
Theo Vaughn
We could. We could stream in the car.
Jay Shock
Well, we could do the mukbang in the car and then stream, like around wherever you want.
Theo Vaughn
Well, I would love to at least get to stream. I have to look in a mukbang and I've just never done it.
Jay Shock
We could do a live mukbang in the car and record it at the same time.
Theo Vaughn
Okay.
Jay Shock
Of your favorite food.
Theo Vaughn
Okay. Let me think about what that is. But yeah, man, I want to get to come and stream with you and do something good, you know? Yeah. Dude, Just thank you so much, Jay Shock. I appreciate you.
Jay Shock
Thank you for having me.
Theo Vaughn
You bet, man.
Jay Shock
You have no idea.
Theo Vaughn
Oh, of course. Yes.
Jay Shock
You're an amazing person. Like, I look up to people like you and you have a very good impact on people's lives and you're like a mentor to me. So I appreciate you. You having me.
Theo Vaughn
Well, thanks, bro. I think you're. You're like a young mentor to me, so. How about that?
Jay Shock
I am. I'm. I'm a parent to you.
Theo Vaughn
Yeah. Blessings. Yeah, that's perfect. Now I'm just floating on the breeze
Jay Shock
and I feel I'm falling like these leaves I must be cornerstone oh but
Theo Vaughn
when I reach that ground I'll share this peace of mind I found I can feel it in my bones but it's gonna take.
