Afters uncut bonus content for our best friends behind the paywall. This week we're around and getting silly with Jimmy and Larry after an hour 45ish with narc dad Noah Van Johnson, our old boss, our old co worker.
Larry
The man who discovered us.
Jimmy
Longtime homie, maybe?
Larry
No, you're right. The BPMW ladies discovered us.
Jimmy
Yeah. So he was the first man to discover us.
Larry
Yeah, which is what counts. I keyed I.
Jimmy
It's Friday, tennis partner. It's Friday. Almost Friday. It's the freaking weekend, baby. I'm about to have me some fun. Damn it. I just quoted R. Kelly. Okay, let's start this over. Lawrence, let's just get behind the payroll real quick. Fit check.
Larry
Okay, I don't even know how that works. I think we get 10 minutes out there regardless. So we're. I am wearing. Wearing our legacy workshop Roa hiking boots.
Jimmy
Oh, are these your first Roas?
Larry
No, I had the Elix Roas.
Jimmy
What?
Larry
Yeah, it was. Why? Because they were the.
Jimmy
The streetwear, Larry.
Larry
Because of the Slam Jam. The Luca. What's his name? Who's the guy who owns Slam Jam? The legend. Yeah, Mr. Slam Jam himself. He's a legend. Luca B. Luca Benini. Luca Benini, because he is was an investor in Elix. And they also clearly have something to do with Roa. That was the first time. And this is years ago. Dude.
Jimmy
Slam James is getting enough credit for being like, a brand incubator.
Larry
Absolutely.
Jimmy
Roa Umbro, a few others that I think are publicly knowledgeable. I'm blanking on.
Larry
So before Roa was like the Roa that like, it is right now rear. Yeah, but before Roa was like, the row that we all know and love. They were put on my radar because they collabed with Elites when Elix was like, as cool as it probably ever was.
Jimmy
J. Lol how do you say it?
Larry
I don't know.
Jimmy
The J L, A I L or J L A L. I should know how to say it, but I don't.
Larry
Are you just naming? What are we doing?
Jimmy
That's another like Slam Jam brand.
Larry
Oh, I mean it's great. It's rich. Oh, I'm thinking of. No, no, I'm thinking of.
Jimmy
Yes.
Larry
Who does Plus plus work with Barrick? It's like W.P.
Jimmy
Lavori.
Larry
W.P. lavoris. My bad. Yeah, this is a great podcast.
Jimmy
Idiot.
Larry
So when. When Luca Benin was doing his thing and Roa was not the row of today, they were put on my radar.
Jimmy
I hardly.
Larry
Gonna try to get out of here.
Jimmy
No, you're Gonna miss your Mickey 17.
Larry
Screening at if I Can Only clone myself.
Jimmy
Have you already thought of the quip?
Larry
No, I want to. No, I gotta see the movie.
Jimmy
Come on, I know you. I know you'd be quipping.
Larry
Yeah, but I gotta see the movie first and then a quip will come to me halfway through.
Jimmy
Do you take quip notes in the movie?
Larry
Oh, no. The only time I ever took notes during a movie not watching any movie theaters at home, whatever, was when we do the for real. For reals. And I was running point. I would take a ton of notes that we could then, you know.
Jimmy
Oh, when you're watching at home.
Larry
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Jimmy
Last night. Awesome.
Larry
Autistic John Wick.
Jimmy
Autistic Sicario.
Larry
Oh, you've made that joke before.
Jimmy
Have I?
Larry
Yeah, why? How many times have you watched the Accountant in the past two years?
Jimmy
Creeping up on Sicario.
Larry
It's. It's legit. Very fun. And stupid. Yeah, very stupid. Shout out. Hope you find your Jen.
Jimmy
Counting two coming soon.
Larry
Really? Yeah.
Jimmy
Him and Bernth all team up.
Larry
Wow.
Jimmy
Him and his bro.
Larry
Him and the pussy. What are we doing here? I bought the Helix Roa.
Leukemia and Lymphoma Society Representative
Why?
Larry
Because it was. Because it was cool and good and I had not how many buckles. And I. There was no buckles and I never. It was paint. It was just the normal Roa hiker, whatever this. But the Andes I believe is the model and it was paint. It was like paint splay came like paint splattered. It was a cool leather treatment, you know, paints.
Jimmy
Anyway, pre paint splatter is the worst kind of pre distressing.
Larry
It was. It was done in a. It was done in a tasteful way. A cool taste. Teach taste.
Jimmy
You can't learn taste.
Larry
And you know, it was like suck. It was a. It was a grailed cop. At the time I was working at grailed and they were like you know I hadn't worn hiking boots since like my menswear days when I had like for caps or you know the the kind of like standard what you think of when you think about a hiker. These were like felt more fashion and cool and weird and whatever. Anyway, the point of the story is that I would literally still wear them today. You stink if they weren't loaned to my cut. My cousin was going on a trip shout out Milo and I learned these none of the they were the black mud guard and it was natural like a more veg tan leather. It's more similar to these honestly not those white ones with the Burton Ernie paint.
