In this episode, we say goodbye :( The era of the Totally Mental Podcast is coming to a close. In true TM fashion, we're sharing all the info on why we're ending the podcast, a lot of the feelings that got us here and looking back on what this has meant to us. Keep shreddin' the gnar & know we'll be strapped in on the rollercoaster next to you - just without a microphone. Lots of love. Despite being constantly occupied with work responsibilities, keeping up with relationships, and remembering to drink enough water, we may often still feel unfulfilled, dissatisfied, or lacking purpose. We may even recognize that being busy isn’t a status we strive for, yet we still find ourselves on the brink of burnout. So we dive deeper into why this may be happening and explore the impact of our work culture, societal expectations, and personal values on our actions and overall sense of fulfillment. We also talk about how we're addressing this in ourselves and trying not to just be busy for the sake of it but to be busy doing things that make us feel fulfilled. We’re back! After a few weeks off we’re feeling rested, rejuvenated, and ready to shred the gnar again with you all. In this episode, we catch up on what it’s been like for both of us to start new jobs. Change - even when it's chosen and exciting - can still bring up a lot of uncomfortable feelings like anxiety and imposter syndrome. Plus, the complexities of starting a new job in a remote environment make it even more layered. So we are bringing you to our virtual bathroom floor where we discuss it all. This week we are talking about Attachment Theory! This has been a long-awaited topic, and we are so excited to have Courtney walk us through the conversation. In our convo, we talk about the different forms of attachment, where they come from, ways they can show up in our relationships, and how to manage them. None of them are good or bad and growing our awareness of them without judgment can help us connect with each other. This week we're super excited to have coach, speaker, and mental health advocate Penny Belle on the show! In this episode, we talk about Penny's past trauma, how it impacted her journey toward being diagnosed with ADHD & C-PTSD, and ultimately how it has led to her work in killing the stigma around mental health one conversation at a time. No matter where you fall in your journey with mental health, you’ll probably find something to relate to in this one. Long distance friendships involve change, which is scary & uncomfy. As we enter into a long distance friendship, this week we’re talking about what it feels like to be in an LDR with friends, different ways to maintain friendships from afar, going into them with intention, the magic of an 8 minute phone call and more.ReferencesThe Secret Power of the 8-Minute Phone Call (NYT)Dunbar's Number: Why we can only maintain 150 relationshipsConnect With Us:Instagram: @totally.mentalWebsite: totallymentalpod.comEmail: totallymentalblog.comResources We Love:Dial or Text 9-8-8 for the National Suicide LifelinePsychologyToday.com - to find a therapist you like.Crisis Textline: Text 741-741 anytime for free, confidential counseling

We're back with more scrap clips left on the cutting room floor! You’re getting the raw dog version of our conversations (and a lot of the actual dogs interrupting) so be ready to laugh at our cringey & candid moments - mostly mispronouncing shit. Enjoy! This week we are super excited to have guest Emma Mahony on the podcast! Emma is a mental health therapist based on the East Coast. We found her on TikTok where she makes videos on topics ranging from things your therapist wants you to know, why people seek out therapy, questions a therapist may ask you, and generally draws back the curtain on what goes on in the therapy room in order to reduce the stigma and fear around it. She’s incredible, and we dive into it all the questions with her. Don’t worry, we already asked her to be Totally Mental’s resident therapist, so we hope to share more of her with you soon! This week we’re talking about MLMs! Han & Em have both had experiences on the inside of different MLMs so we’re pulling the curtain back on the toxic cultures promoted within, the reality of joining one, the ways they prey on vulnerable people (aka us lol), and more. Like most things, they aren’t necessarily inherently bad, toxic, and awful, but they certainly often are. Enjoy!Documentaries:Betting on ZeroLulaRichPodcastsBe There in Five - 149. This week we’re talking about Dry January. We did a poll on our Instagram on who’s participating and it was split directly down the middle. Whether you’re someone like Em who benefits from timelines, boundaries, and definitives around alcohol consumption or more like Hannah who intuitively feels it out, we cover both ends of the spectrum. We talk about being sober curious, our own relationships to alcohol, our stories around it, and more.
