My Strokes night, the next day, there was some stroking going on. And the next day, I'm with a friend. We're editing, and he's like, oh, we should go get food now. And I'm like, okay, great. Why don't we go to this spot that's by my house? We can walk. And also, it's kind of like a cool spot. It's an arrhythmia. It's basically, your heart is supposed to have its own rhythm.

[Ali]

Yeah.

[Kalila]

A healthy rhythm. And with Janus and me and you the rhythm goes off on its own.

[Esther]

Mine happens in my sleep, so yours too, right?

Yeah.

[Jenna]

Yeah. It, like, it's fast.

Yeah. So it'll go from like 43 to, like 150 in one beat. And then I'm just like, that kind

of fun when that happens, though. You're like, oh, what's happening?

But that's kind of what I've had to change my mind to when it happens. Like, okay, we're not going to die. We're just here. Haven't bled in two and a half years. Things are horrible. I cried in the air one parking lot two nights ago. So that was great. Silver Lake. Oh, it's a good leaving house. And I was like. Thought I was totally fine. And then this Brandy Carlisle song came

on, and I was like, that'll get anyone even on the best day.

[Jenna]

I think it was just your proximity to my two crying children that made you cry.

[Esther]

And then I had to put my sunglasses on to order, which I hate doing because that's, like, seems rude and

[Ali]

everyone's the perfect place to be. Like, kind of a douche. Yeah, me right now.

[Esther]

And then I was like, if I could just have the salmon. And the guy was like, sorry, I couldn't hear you. I was like, just the roasted salmon. Thank you. So that was cool. Other than that, I'm having a fun time in other life. Like, days like today where it's like, I had an audition. Now I have this, then I have another audition. Makes me think that I'm going places. But I'm not.

[Ali]

You are.

[Jenna]

Wait, I didn't know that you were supposed to have a surgery and then didn't get it.

[Kalila]

It.

[Jenna]

Yeah, you kind of slid that one under the rug in front of me.

[Esther]

Yeah. Because they were like, you shouldn't have this longer than six to eight months. The fluid buildup in your eye, because it could result in permanent damage.

[Ali]

You should get the surgery. Surgery is so much fun.

[Esther]

But on my eye, the surgery is also so risky. Yeah, they said it's risky and that most people with CSR never get it because your body takes care of it on its own, which is what we thought it was going to do a year ago. However, it hasn't, so they're recommending surgery.

[Jenna]

So it might still go away on its own.

[Esther]

No, they said at this point, your body's obviously not getting rid of it. It's been one year. May 17. However, when I went to Stanford and they did a bunch of imaging, it resulted in some lasting bars across My eye. That look like a TV screen. Yeah. And that has not gone away. And it's been over a month and a half. So, yeah, I'm supposed to get the surgery. However, at UCLA, they've only done 40 a year, and at Stanford, 10 a year. That's how a few people do it. So.

[Kalila]

Yeah, that makes sense why you're nervous about it.

[Esther]

Yeah.

[Ali]

But what's the success rate of the people that they have done it on?

[Esther]

It's pretty successful. I don't know the number. However, they said it's not forever and you have to do it again in, like, three to five years.

[Kalila]

The reason I find this interesting is because we had Tom Segura on a couple weeks ago in Tiger Belly, and, you know, he had that crazy accident where he tried to, like, dunk a basketball wall, and then he fell. And basically what he told us is he lost all mobility in his hands and fingers. But there was this one doctor who said. Who basically who said, I've only done the surgery once, so I'm one for one. But it's gonna give you back movement because he had been. He had months of such long fingers.

[Jenna]

I know.

[Ali]

Oh, my God.

[Esther]

Yeah, they're.

[Jenna]

Those are scary.

[Ali]

And they're thin because you.

[Ali]

Your palm is quite small.

[Kalila]

Yeah.

Like, your palm is normal. But then the fingers. Wow.

I think my fingers are just long.

But this doctor was, like, one for one, and he took a chance and he got full mobility back. Apparently, it was just some, like, hot shot surgeon who was like, I got you. I know what I'm doing. And he did it. It.

[Jenna]

I love a hot shot surgery.

[Esther]

A hotshot surgeon for my eye. And also there's some sort of correlation that I've researched between pcos and, like, high androgens and csr. So what I'm trying to do first is find a plan to balance my hormones first.

[Ali]

Yeah.

[Jenna]

[Ali]

I just feel like. Are we at a point where enough with, like, the trying the supplement route?

I haven't really tried a supplement.

And I'm, like, projecting, too, because I feel like I lean towards this for years.

I feel like you get in a state of paralysis where you're like scared to take anything.

Yeah. How do we. Pretty much my whole life, I think if I could have someone like Alyssa vd, she did like. Oh yeah, I've read her, I tried to see period code her. I've called their New York office. I'm like, is there anyone who you would recommend? Cuz what I believe I need is a onetoone coach who's looking at my blood work, who's specifically saying this is what you should take.

[Kalila]

It's shitty part about our healthcare system is that it's so fragmented and they're all not speaking to each other. I mean, they all have their notes visible there. But it's not a holistic approach. Right.

[Esther]

There's just so much going on with my body at once that I'm like, I am in paralysis.

[Jenna]

You need to hand over to someone else.

[Kalila]

If someone was like, hey, here is a western medic. This is a western medicine approach. This will help with your pcos. Will you take it today? Because I know you to be very.

[Esther]

Yes, but I wouldn't because I tried the western medicine approach first with the spiro and birth control and it in fact didn't work and made it worse.

[Kalila]

And so I would go more like, okay, these are the tests that we see and this is what works for 90% of people. It may not work for 10%, but are you willing to give it a go?

[Esther]

Yes. I just don't believe it anymore because I don't think that western meds can help with pcos. I think they help help bandage it.

[Kalila]

Gosh, girly. Matters are so complicated because it's never just a one size fits all for like any treatment. And it's like you take five girls with pcos, they could all look so different and all their symptoms could be so vastly different. So that's where it gets like very frustrating because it has to really curtail to your specific type of PCOS and how it presents.

[Esther]

Like, are you insulin resistant?

[Kalila]

It's weird, It's.

[Esther]

So are you ovulating? Are you not, not. I did progesterone twice.

[Jenna]

I didn't know that.

[Esther]

Yeah, once with a holistic doctor. She was like, you gotta get off it. Because every time I would get on it, I would bleed when I would take it. Which the way you're supposed to bleed is when you stop taking it when you have a drop in progesterone.

[Jenna]

Tricky, frustrating. That is horrific. I. But I do feel like what? You said you need one person. They need to take over so that it's not. You're not playing guess and check every day. And, like, they're in charge.

[Esther]

I don't want to be researching it. I want them to be like, yo, I have worked with many a PCOS ers with all different types of pcos. This is what I. I know the plan for you.

[Jenna]

Yes.

[Esther]

Okay, you tell me what to take.

[Jenna]

That's what our goal is, to find you that doctor.

What do you know about that?

Oh, I have it. My sister does, too.

Everyone thinks I have it.

I've been telling you, you have MCAs.

It all it takes is to want to go to one good immunologist or one allergist.

[Esther]

So it's mast cell activation syndrome. And basically, you have overload of histamines. And what histamines does is it causes inflammation in your body. Now, histamines are necessary in your body. It alerts you to things. Right. But it shouldn't be an overload all the time. And what happens with Jenna, myself, my sister, is that we eat certain foods and it just causes us to flare up. And a lot of people think, oh, it's, you know, I'm just allergic to the food. You're not. It's not a true allergy. You just have MCAs.

[Esther]

Like, I'm not allergic to apple.

[Kalila]

You should see my sister's immunologist and her allergist. She is incredible. And she's like, I don't need to test you for shit. You for sure have MCAs. And now my sister on biologics. Biologics. But she's certain on certain medications that she takes every morning so she can eat what she wants.

[Jenna]

Are you.

[Esther]

Do you do that?

[Kalila]

I don't. I don't. Mine is not as extreme as hers. Okay, I'm going to talk directly to the camera. Like, there are a lot of people that feel the way I feel, which is when you eat a big meal, like, when you eat a meal, like any restaurant, whatever, do you start to feel like a panicky, disoriented, like, unreality feeling after you eat, like you're high? No.

[Esther]

Yeah.

[Kalila]

You've never. And you start to feel like it's a panic attack.

[Esther]

Yeah, I try and move my legs. I told my. My electrophysiologist really about this. I was like, I feel like I'm gonna pass out or something.

[Kalila]

Heart starts beating and usually after that it's extreme diarrhea. Tmi.

[Esther]

Lucky I don't get the diarrhea.

[Kalila]

I used to think I was like panicking. And it's right after you eat, you finish. Yeah, it's right after a baby, 15 minutes, 20, you start to feel like, where am I? In the room.

[Esther]

And the worst is that when you're at dinner and you feel like you have to stay seated and you're like, like, I feel like I'm like tunnel vision.

[Kalila]

I'll point you in the right direction because my sister loves hers.

[Esther]

That would be great. You know what some of that is too, that my electrophysiologist said.
